Waiting can be one of the hardest seasons of faith.

We pray.
We believe.
We hope.
Yet the answer doesn’t come when we expect it.

In this episode of FaithFinder, we explore the powerful promise found in Book of Isaiah 40:31: But those who wait for the Lord [who expect, look for, and hope in Him] will gain new strength; they will lift up their wings like eagles, they will run and not become weary, they will walk and not grow tired.

Waiting is often misunderstood. Many people think waiting means doing nothing, but biblical waiting is active. It’s trusting God even when the outcome hasn’t appeared yet. It’s remaining faithful when the timeline stretches longer than expected.

In this episode, we unpack what it means to live with faith in the waiting season, including:

✨ Waiting without becoming bitter
✨ What God may be building within you during the wait
✨ How God is often working behind the scenes in ways we cannot see
✨ Staying faithful in the in-between moments
✨ Trusting God’s timing when your expectations feel delayed

Waiting seasons can test our patience, challenge our trust, and expose areas of our hearts that still struggle to surrender control. It’s easy to become discouraged when the breakthrough hasn’t come yet. But what if the waiting season is actually a place of preparation?

Sometimes God is strengthening your character.
Sometimes He is aligning circumstances.
Sometimes He is protecting you from moving too soon.
And sometimes He is preparing you for something bigger than you imagined.

Waiting does not mean God has forgotten you.

Often, what feels like silence or delay is actually divine preparation happening behind the scenes. Faith in waiting means continuing to trust God’s promises, continuing to obey His Word, and continuing to walk with Him even when you cannot yet see the full picture.

If you are currently waiting for:

• Direction
• Healing
• Restoration
• Opportunity
• A breakthrough in prayer
• Clarity about your next step

This episode will encourage you to stay faithful during the in-between.

Because the waiting season is not wasted when it is placed in God’s hands.

Faith doesn’t only grow when prayers are answered quickly.
Faith often grows the most while we are learning how to wait.

And that's what I, in my opinion, this is just how I look at things. I'm a visual person. I believe God is doing that same thing. He's in the background, orchestrating things. He's in the background, getting things set up. He's in the background working out other, I'm not gonna say backdoor deals because that's not God. He ain't gotta do that. But I'm just saying he's orchestrating things in the background. He's working in the background. Yes, we are sitting here looking face forward, you know, at what what we have before us, but if we were able to pull the curtains from behind or from around that, we can and can see how God is moving, that's why there's a weight. That's why there's a wait. This is Faith Finder, where faith becomes your roadmap. Welcome to Faith Finder Podcast, where faith becomes your roadmap. I am your host, Tamara Anderson, and thank you so much for joining me. We're now in season two, Living with Daily Active Faith, episode five, Faith in Waiting. Oh my goodness, how important it is to keep your faith in waiting. But let's go ahead and jump into prayer. Glory, hallelujah, hallelujah. Thank you, Lord, thank you, Lord, thank you, Lord. I am reminded of Nehemiah's prayer, Lord, hallelujah. Open your eyes to us. Oh, incline thy ear unto our prayer on the day. Lord, hallelujah! Glory to your name. Thank you, Jesus. Thank you, Jesus, for another day, another opportunity to fulfill our assignment, Lord Jesus. Hallelujah. Another day, Lord God. Oh, hallelujah, to fulfill our purpose in the earth. Glory to your name, Lord. We just thank you for today. I'm asking that you incline your ears unto our prayer. Lord Jesus, hallelujah, that you open up your eyes. Hallelujah to our situations. Glory to your name. Oh Lord, we need faith even the more, in my opinion, in the waiting period. Oh, hallelujah. We have great faith when we pray the prayer. Hallelujah. In the beginning of Lord God. And our faith is even modified and edified even the more, Lord God. And it's grown the more when we see the prayer come to pass. Hallelujah. But it's the in between, Lord God. It's the waiting, Jesus. Hallelujah. Where our faith sometimes takes a dip, Lord God, where doubt and unbelief begin to roar their ugly heads. So Lord, right now, hallelujah. Help us to hold on to our faith even the more in the waiting. Let something be said today to encourage the people of God to hold on, Lord Jesus. In the waiting, let something be said, Lord, hallelujah. Glory to your name. That causes their faith to rise up even the more during this period of waiting. And Lord, we'll be careful. Hallelujah. Glory to your name to give you the glory, the honor, and the praise. Hallelujah, Lord. We ask that you please forgive us of anything we have said, done, thought, or felt that is unlike you. Hallelujah. Order our footsteps. Lead us and guide us in your righteousness, Lord. Your righteousness, not self-righteousness and definitely not man's righteousness, but lead us, hallelujah. And if we be led, we know our faith will sustain, hallelujah, during the waiting season. Glory to your name, Lord. We just thank you. We honor you on today. Hallelujah. We lift up your holy name. Hallelujah. We thank you, Jesus. We thank you, Jesus. We thank you, Jesus. Lord, hallelujah. Have your way in the lesson on today. Have your way in our lives each and every day. And we just thank you. Hallelujah. It's in Jesus' mighty name that we pray. Hallelujah. Amen. Amen and amen. Glory to your name, Jesus. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. So many scriptures came to my mind for this lesson, faith and waiting. But the one that I want to use, hallelujah, very famous, hallelujah, very quoted uh scripture, glory, hallelujah, is Isaiah 40 and 30. But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up, hallelujah, with the wings as eagles. They shall run and not be weary. They shall walk and not faint. Hallelujah. I just want to start off by saying, hallelujah. I would never ever tell anyone, hallelujah, glory to your name, that waiting on the Lord is easy. I'm not gonna lie. I'm not gonna sit here and fake the funk wiki. Y'all know I'm transparent, real, and honest. So I would never tell anyone that waiting on the Lord is easy. Because it's not for some, it might be. For most of us, it's not. But I will tell you this hallelujah. When you do, that is, wait on the Lord, you can't even begin to phantom all that he has in store for you. Hallelujah. You can't begin because, oh, Lory, hallelujah. When I say this scripture has been said so much in my hearing over the last past, I'm gonna say, maybe two, three weeks, eyes have not seen, ears have not heard, neither has it entered into the thought of man all that God has in store for us. We we he his ways are higher than our ways, his thoughts higher than our thoughts. So I promise you, if you wait, wait with faith, wait with patience, you can't even begin to imagine. So take what you're thinking, take what you're imagining, and you can scale that times a thousand because that's what God has in store for you. But we it's about how we wait. It's about how we wait. So our prayers will be answered in one of three ways, and this is something I pray that you already know. But if not, hey, our prayers are answered in one of three ways. It's an immediate yes, there may be an immediate no, but then there is that yes, but not now. Um and that's the one that I think gets us the most that period of us uh praying. We prayed, and God has said yes, but we might not have gotten that yes to move, or that yes, what you prayed for is gonna come to pass, and it's in that weight that we have the problem. Um, so when we hear the Lord and He says yes, and we get to go immediately, boom, that's not a problem, or when we pray about something and we ask the Lord about something and He tells us no, I don't, I mean, it's still a problem, but we got our answer. But it is that prayer time when we prayed and we've asked the Lord for something, and I'm telling y'all when I say I'm in the midst of it now. Um couple of weeks ago we had Lady Jamie Vinson on the podcast, and I had to tell her after the podcast, her testimony of the podcast was it was just like the Lord was speaking to me. Like I said, I I hope that y'all got something out of, but I know it was for me, and so in that I applied for the position um that I had seen for my job. I got through the first step of the interview, and I re you know, I I come to realize as I was given a lot of information, more information than what the job description, but of course, says. Um, but when I tell you all of these negative aspects, negative, because she even you know talked about how her stepping out and taking that job that God told her she had to have a pay decrease. Well, it's not even necessarily a pay decrease for me, it's flexibility. We have what we call I have a flex schedule, so I work four nines and a four. So on Fridays, I'm off work by 10 o'clock. And if I work a little bit over throughout the week to make sure things get done, there's sometimes I'm off by 8:30, 9 o'clock. So it's like having a three-day weekend. Well, with this job, I would have to work Monday through Friday, 8 to 4:30. No, if, answer, but to body. Um big red flag for me. For me, so my prayer has been that's one of the big red flags, but my prayer has been since I heard that I said, Lord, I know you told me to apply, but Lord, is this the one? Are you just getting me out of my comfort zone to begin to look for other positions, or is this a position you want me to take? And when I tell you, I have been praying and praying, and I'm like, Lord, to me, I even this past Sunday went to a uh service. Um, because you know, anointed women of when I anointed women of God at that service, I knew they're waiting, and I'm like, Lord, you're gonna send me my answer in this service. I didn't get my answer, needless to say. So it's that faith when we wait. So our feelings can uh get us into a lot of trouble. Just be honest, your feelings get you in a lot of trouble. Yesterday I was happy, so this is just an example. I was happy, so everyone I spoke to because I was in a good mood, I was smiling and waving and you know, communicating with everyone and just in a good mood. But today I feel uh just blah. So I'm staying to myself, not being as communicative, not being as active or happy or outgoing or what have you. Um, and as Christians, we should not allow our feelings to dictate our actions. But again, we're human, we're walking around in this flesh, so I know it happens. But no matter how we feel, good glory, no matter how we feel, we still need to keep the faith, keep our faith in the way. Because again, our feelings fluctuate. I don't remember where I read this, or and but it's like we have a lot of emotions, a lot of feelings in 24 hours. When I say a lot, I mean a lot. So if we were always being led by our feelings, baby, we're gonna be up and down and in and out and and backwards and forwards, no joke. So we cannot allow the enemy to use our feelings to dictate how we move and how we react and how we act. And we can't allow the enemy to shift our faith or shift our focus off of God. We can't allow him to bring doubt and unbelief to our front porch and leave it there while we're in the way. Okay, if you recall, I kid you not, I I pray that you remember this from season one, but the just shall live by faith. No ifs, ands, or buts about it. It's not an option for us. The just shall live by faith. So we cannot stop having faith in the Lord just because we're in that waiting season. We're still living, so we still have to live by faith. And even in the way, again, it's it's it's it's hard. I'm in it with you right this moment. I promise you, it's hard, but it's so well worth it. But while you're in the wait, hold on to your faith and do not allow bitterness to rise up within you because again, we have to wait. So I get it when I tell you we are in a microwave popcorn society, we are in this this this era of our our lives where we expect everything to be done immediately or at the snap of our fingers. And guess what? God don't move like that, just because McDonald's might move like that, just because um, I can't think of another fast food restaurant that is really quick other than McDonald's. Um, but because even Chick-fil-A, you gotta wait for a minute, or uh when um Burger King, you gotta wait for a minute, it's not really quick, but still, we are so used to fast food and and microwave food, and we're so used to this instant gratification and this instant, you know, what have you, just like people who want their viral their videos to go viral overnight or whatever. Just because we're we're living this life where everything is literally instantly, that does not mean the Lord is going to move instantly on your behalf, and even in that, understand a that doesn't dictate his response because glory, hallelujah. My grandma had a caring experience yesterday, it was it's not funny, but it's sad, but it's funny. But uh, my grandmama had a caring experience yesterday. But what it makes me think of are we're so expecting, because I say I want, I get um bad with our children. This this is thank you, Jesus. This sense of entitlement. That's what I'm trying to get you. Thank you, Lord. So many people have this sense of entitlement because this is what I want, this is what I should get. That does not dictate Christ's response to us to our prayers. Just because we want it don't mean we're gonna get it. Okay, and understand, just because we want it now, that's not does not make him move faster to produce it or to allow it to come to pass. So just because this is how we are walking in this earth, again, we are of the we are in the world, but not of the world, that's how it is with Christ. We may be of a world or in a world that is pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop instant, but that don't mean we're of this world, and that definitely is not how the Lord is going to move on our behalf. So we have to sit here and we have to be okay in the way. Do not allow that bitterness to rise up. Well, I wanted this yesterday, but I didn't get it. Don't allow because bitterness will take root, and it ooh, glory, hallelujah! If it takes root, that's a bad thing. So we got to understand. I'm letting you know there is a blessing in waiting. It may not feel like it, it may not feel like it, but there is a blessing in waiting. And I want to give you Psalms 130 and 5. I wait for the Lord, my soul doeth well, and in his word do I hope. Psalms 37 and 34. Wait on the Lord and keep his ways, and she he shall exalt me to inherit the land. Hmm, if we wait, there's a blessing. When the wicked are cut off, thou shalt see it. Psalms 27 and 14. Wait on the Lord, be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart. Wait, I say, on the Lord. So there's a blessing in waiting. I just gave you three examples. There is a blessing in waiting. So if you know that you have been obedient to the voice of the Lord, and you have done everything within your power accordingly, have faith to wait. Just just just have faith and wait. Okay? Have faith through the wait, have faith to wait, however you want to say that, and watch God move on your behalf. You've done it all. You've prayed the prayer, you've you prayed the prayer in faith. Glory, hallelujah, you prayed the prayer in faith, okay? God has shown you you've been obedient to everything He told you to do you know throughout this time or what have you. You know you did. Oh, Glory, hallelujah, you did it exactly immediately and with great delight. You did it, you did it, you did that part. Now, guess what? Have continue to have faith in the waiting. Continue to have faith in the waiting because on the other side of that thing, I promise you great blessing, not just what you prayed for, but I just believe greater than what you prayed for, greater than what you prayed for. My pastor just fought uh preached. Oh, glory to your name. He's gonna kill me because I I am his reader. I believe it's Matthew 9 and 5 when Gesus went to Kir Capernaum, and they brought to him the man that was with uh palsy, and um he seen the faith of the people that brought him, and so he said, Your uh sins have been forgiven. Again, he we don't know that don't have much about the man, and so in my head, I believe that maybe he did something really, really horrible, so that made him you know become paralyzed and have palsy, and his friends, you know, brought him to Jesus, and Jesus said, Guess what? Your sins have been forgiven. In my opinion, Lord Jesus, I'll continue to be paralyzed if my sins have been forgiven. But because of the scribes and the Pharisees and the crowd, and sitting there, you know, he's blaspheming because who does he think he is? He can't forgive sins. This man then not only did he have his sins forgiven, but he was made whole. And he told him, Arise, take up that bed. And the man was able to go home. So, again, not only did he get his sins forgiven, but he was made whole, he was healed. Not only are you gonna get what you've been paying for, but God's gonna give you something exceedingly above what you even asked or thought to ask for, okay? But again, that is the wait. Wait in awe as he brings a conclusion to your circumstance. Wait in awe, wait in faith, wait with an expectation. These are all things we got how we have to wait. Wait. So I want to give you a quick testimony, no joke, of God working in the background. And that's something that I don't think we ever stop and think about. Lord, I prayed this prayer. Why is it taking a month, six months, a year, six years, five years, ten years for this thing to come to pass? And it's because God is working in the background, He's orchestrating so many things, and every so many things have to align up just perfectly for your good and for his glory. All it's always for our good and for his glory. So in 2018, we bought a house, and no joke, I did not know what was going on in the background until um right before my closing, I was able to talk to our finance company. Uh, but we went through American lending, American something like that. I don't remember the name of it, but wonderful. When I say God sent us to her for a reason, it was for a reason. Phenomenal woman. Anywho, at the time, and we did not know this. Well, we did know there was someone else bidding on the house. Don't couldn't tell you why they took our offer until I got to the top got to talk to her. So when we first put our bid in the house, I believe it was three people, if I'm not mistaken, three people, but I know I know for a fact two, but I think it was three, and um, we put in a nice bid, and the other person they put in a bit equal to us, or maybe a little bit lower than us. Um, and it might have been equal. And so then we got the phone call. Hey, uh, they also put in a bid, and so our real estate agents like, hey, you might want to go ahead and do the max um their asking price, and so we prayed about it, we thought about it. Um, and I heard the Lord said, Go ahead. So we gave, you know, got back for the told her, go ahead. Well, they also put in the asking price. Um, I think one dropped out at that point, and then it was just two of us. Um, and I don't know how long it, I don't remember again. This was 2018. I don't know how long it was, but it was some time before we found out that we got the winning bid, that we got the house. So, come to find out, the real estate agent um knew um our loan officer or the company that we were going through with, and she reached out to her. She was like, Hey, what can you tell me now? Mind you, up until this point, if I'm not mistaken, I had not physically seen Jody face to face yet. We just communicated through email over the phone and what have you. And don't ask me why, but when I say God will allow you to find favor with strangers, he will allow you to find and so Jody was honest, it's not like she lied and said, you know, this and this and this about us, but she was she's like, There's something about her, she deserves this house. There's something I'm just telling you, there's something about them. Okay, she was dealing with me, my husband, my grandma. She there's just something about them, they deserve this house, you know. Um, and and she began to speak on our behalf very highly. So when we went to her, you know, at the end to do our financing part before we got to the closing, she told me that story of how the real estate agent came and talked to her and how she spoke on our behalf. And that's what I, in my opinion, this is just how I look at things. I'm a visual person. I believe God is doing that same thing. He's in the background orchestrating things, he's in the background, getting things set up, he's in the background working out other, I'm not gonna say backdoor deals because that's not God, he ain't gotta do that. But I'm just saying he's orchestrating things in the background, he's working in the background. Yes, we're sitting here looking face forward, you know, at what what we have before us, but if we were able to pull the curtains from behind or from around that, we can and can see how God is moving, that's why there's a weight. That's why there's a weight. Sometimes I just heard this the other day. If we pray for something, you know, whatever it may be, and God gave it to us immediately. If we weren't ready for it, to be honest, sometimes we pray for things we're not ready for, or if it wasn't ready for us, I'm gonna say a marriage. So say you pray for this husband. Well, God gotta do some work on him, God gotta do some work on you for you both to be whole as individuals. To come together to be whole as a couple. Well, God's working on him. You're ready. But God, hey, he's still in the oven being made. Then guess what? If God, if you pull it out too, if God pulls it out too soon, it's gonna fall apart. So that's how I want y'all to think about this. In this way, if we sit here and focus on God, oh glory, hallelujah. Thank you, Jesus. If we would just take a moment and sit here and you know, attempt to pull the curtain back, you know, just in our imagination, God, you're putting this together, you're putting that together, you're aligning this over here, you're moving this into the right position for me, for me, for this to come to me at the right time, perfectly prepared for me. Oh glory, hallelujah, for my good and for his glory. If we just take that moment and look at things like that, I think that would generally help us with our faith, even the more in the waiting. That's just my opinion. I want to share my testimony, and we did get the house, and here we are, seven and a half years later, in the house, and we're about to you know do some renovations in the house, and I'm excited, I'm excited, but it's all because God glory, hallelujah, did some working on the background when we even just putting in our bid for the house. So you have to have faith during the wait. Again, no ifs, ends, a buts about it. You can't wait for a moment, a day or two, a week or two, a month or two, and then try to help the Lord. That's not how it works, baby. That's just not how it works. Okay, so you have to have faith and continue to wait until the Lord either A gives you permission to move, or you see that He's already worked it out for you and He presents it. Here you go, baby, here's your solution, here's you know, your problem solved, or whatever the case may be. You have to wait. You can't sit here, okay. Lord, I waited for a week, I waited for a month, I've waited for a year, so now let me help you. No, ma'am, that's not how it works. No, sir, that's not how it works. Okay, we're gonna wait, we're gonna continue to wait in faith. Okay, we're gonna continue to have faith in the waiting. No joke, because and I just want to let you know, so I believe. So, how did I wait? Thank you, Lord. How did I wait? How am I waiting even right now? How am I waiting? I'm waiting by a blocking doubt, blocking fear, blocking unbelief with the word of God. I promise you. Whenever, um, again, negative, negative thoughts, like I said, I am used to working money Monday through Thursday, 7 to 4:30, Friday, 6 to 10, I'm out of here. That that has been my schedule for since since January of 2020. So six years, over six years, that has been my schedule. Over six years. So to sit here and think Monday through Friday, 8 to 4:30, working on all day Friday, OMG, OMG, every time negative thoughts arise, I have to speak the word of God. God knows what's best for me, He He knows the plans that He thinks towards me. So if this is God's will, then that's what I want. But again, we have to combat all of that with the Word of God. If we know the scriptures that says um the cattle on a thousand hills belong to him, the earth of the Lord and the fullness thereof, no good thing will he withhold from me. This might not be what I think is best for me, but if this is what God thinks is best for me and it's a good thing for me, then that's what I want. Another one, I have never seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed baking bread. So the word is there to keep us all encouraged in our faith and strengthen our faith, in fact, during the wet wake, wait. That's what it's there for. That's what the word is there for. Not only to give us instructions and insight and directions and delight our path, but it's there to give us encouragement, it's there to help us. Iron sharpens iron, faith begets faith. I say that all the time. Faith begets faith. The word of God, the word of God is full of faith, and that's what we need even in this moment. James 1 and 4, but let patience have her perfect work that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing. There's a reason for the wait. We have to again let patience have her perfect work in us. Okay, so there's uh there's a there's a reason for the wait. Keep the faith during the wait, keep the faith in waiting on the Lord. So, um, I'm not gonna sit here and say stop praying. I'm not, but maybe not pray about that thing every single day because there's something about when you pray about it and it hasn't come to pass that it can be uh kind of sombering to you. So maybe not pray every day, maybe pray once a week. You know, just another way to combat the enemy, and uh-huh, you done prayed again and you ain't got it yet. Nah, so maybe not pray every day about it, maybe not even pray once a week about it, however, you feel about that. But this is my thing know that God is not forgetful by no means He heard your prayer the first time you prayed it. The prayers of the righteous avail much, okay? So he heard your prayer the first time, so to kind of combat the enemy again, because it is kind of sombering, Lord. I prayed and I heard you yet, Lord. I prayed, I ain't heard you yet, Lord. I prayed, and this ain't figured out yet. So maybe not pray it every day, okay? Just another thought. But uh, as always, our faith challenge for the week. I want you to write down several things that you are right now believing in the Lord for. Okay, it can be something major, it could be something minor, or it could even be something that you've been praying for for a month, a year, two years, whatever the case may be. And I want you to literally write it down on a piece of paper, and then I want you to take that piece of paper, fold it up, put it somewhere in your Bible, and surrender the timeline to the Lord. Surrender the timeline, okay. I promise you, um, I can't think of where it is in Proverbs at the moment, but I have a check that I have written out and I looked at it, I want to say it was last year, and it was 10 years ago. Ten years ago, I wrote this check out and it was for a million dollars. Four million dollars, and I can't think of where I put it in Proverbs right at the moment, but I've surrendered that. I've surrendered that timeline. I'm going to be able to cash a$10 a$1 million check. I believe that wholeheartedly. I'm going to be able to cash a$1 million check. But I've surrendered that timeline to God, and I want you to do the same thing. I want you to write down those things that you have believed in the Lord for however long it's been. Put the piece of paper, fold it up, and put in your Bible, and just surrender the timeline. I'm not saying forget about it, but I'm saying surrender the timeline and let the fulfillment and again have faith. So if you want to put it in leave Hebrews uh chapter 11, verse 1, now faith. That now, Lord, I have now faith for what is coming. I have now faith, and I will continue to have now faith for what you're gonna do in the future. Okay, so as always, I want to open up the this time and save space for who wants to give your life to Christ, who wants to surrender and say, you know what, Lord, I don't know you in the pardon of my sins. I I'm watching the podcast, I'm listening to different TikToks or Facebook's reels or you know, Instagram reels, or whatever the case may be. And I hear a lot of people, oh glory to your name, Jesus. I hear a lot of people talking about this Jesus, this Jesus, but I don't know you personally, and you would love the opportunity to get to know him personally, to establish a relationship with him, hallelujah, and to walk with him. You may drop a comment now, and I will get back with you. I will be praying with you that God not only saves you, sanctifies you, fills you up with the precious gift of the Holy Ghost, puts a fire on the inside that can't be quenched, but that he also plants you in a Bible-based church, hallelujah, where you can grow even the more. Glory to your name of that person who has once walked with Christ, hallelujah, and you turned your back on him because he's married to the backslider, so you have gone out and committed adultery against the Lord, hallelujah! And you said, I'm I'm tired, I'm ready to come home. Know that he is there with open arms waiting on you, he's waiting on you, and you can come back as long as you have breath in your body that you still have an opportunity, you still have a chance. There is still space for repentance. Okay, glory to your name, hallelujah. Let's go ahead and end in prayer. Lord, we thank you for the lesson of today. Hallelujah. Thank you, Jesus. Hallelujah, Lord God. Hallelujah. I ask right now, Lord God, that you put a hedge of protection around them.
