Walking by Faith, Not by Sight

Scripture Focus: 2 Corinthians 5:7
“For we walk by faith, not by sight.”
Most believers can quote this scripture.
But what does it actually look like to live it?
In Episode 4 of FaithFinder Season 3: Becoming a Faith Walker, Not Just a Faith Talker, we go beyond the cliché and confront the reality that walking by faith becomes difficult when life stops making sense.
It’s easy to trust God when prayers are being answered quickly, doors are opening, and everything seems clear. But what happens when:
- The resources aren’t there?
- The answer hasn’t come yet?
- The future looks uncertain?
- The situation gets worse before it gets better?
That is where real faith is revealed.
Walking by faith means continuing to trust God even when your natural eyes cannot see how things will work out. It means believing God’s Word above your emotions, circumstances, fears, or visible evidence.
In this episode, we discuss:
- What it truly means to walk by faith daily
- Why sight constantly fights against faith
- The danger of depending only on what you can see, feel, or understand
- Trusting God even when you don’t see immediate results
We also explore how many believers unintentionally allow circumstances to become louder than God’s promises. When life becomes difficult, it is tempting to retreat, panic, overanalyze, or lose confidence in what God said. But faith walkers learn how to keep moving even when clarity is limited.
Because faith was never built on visible proof.
Faith is built on trust in God’s character.
This episode will encourage listeners to stop allowing temporary situations to define permanent beliefs. Just because you cannot see God moving does not mean He is absent. Sometimes God is working most powerfully behind the scenes while you are learning to trust Him more deeply.
🔥 We also continue encouraging listeners through the 10-Day Active Faith Kickstart, a practical challenge designed to help believers strengthen their faith through intentional daily action, obedience, prayer, and trust.
If you’ve been:
- Discouraged because you can’t see progress
- Struggling to trust God in uncertainty
- Allowing fear or facts to overpower faith
- Waiting for visible confirmation before moving
Then this episode will remind you that faith walkers do not base their confidence on what they see—they base it on who God is.
🎯 Faith Challenge for This Episode:
Make one decision this week based on faith instead of fear, logic, or visible certainty. Pray, trust God, and take the next step even if you cannot see the full outcome yet.
Because sight says, “Wait until you can see it.”
But faith says, “Trust God enough to move anyway.”
✨ Real faith walkers keep walking—even when they cannot yet see the destination.

Life is a journey, and faith is the road that takes us forward. Welcome to Faith Finder, where we discover what faith truly is, how to use it every single day, and how to grow the measure of faith God placed inside of us. Every bump has purpose, every turn has meaning, every mile brings you closer to who God is shaping you to be. This is Faith Finder, where faith becomes your roadmap. Welcome to Faith Finder Podcast, where faith becomes your roadmap. I am your host, Tamara Anderson. Thank you so much for coming back. We're here in season three, uh, Activated Faith from Belief to Both Living. We're now on episode four, walking by faith, not by sight, for real. Not just saying it, but actually doing it. So let's go ahead and jump into our prayer. Most gracious and heavenly Father, Lord, we thank you. Jesus, we thank you, hallelujah. Glory to your name, Lord. We thank you. We thank you. We thank you for having just knowing who you are, hallelujah, knowing whose we are, hallelujah, and positioning ourselves in your perfect will. Lord, we just thank you. We thank you for insight, Lord. We thank you for correction, Heavenly Father. We thank you, Jesus, hallelujah, for ordering our footsteps and leading us and guiding us in your righteousness. Lord, I ask that you please be with us as we go throughout this episode. Hallelujah. We hear a lot of scripture just said, Lord Jesus, but not truly understanding what it means and not applying it to our word. But Lord, as we jump into 2 Corinthians on today, Lord Jesus, I'm asking that you give us true divine insight on what you meant in your word. Hallelujah. Lord, help us to apply it to our lives so we are truly walking by faith. Hallelujah. In every area of our life, in every circumstance, and not by sight. Glory to your name, Lord. We just give you glory, we give you honor, we give you praise. And it's in Jesus' mighty name that we pray. Amen. Amen and amen. Again, our scripture is coming from 2 Corinthians chapter 5, verse 7. Today we're going to be in the amplified because to me, I just love it. I love it. Like seriously, I love it. It breaks down the little things. For 2 Corinthians 5 and 7, the Amplified version says, For we walk by faith, not by sight. Living our lives in a manner consistent with our confident belief in God's promises. Again, we walk by faith and not by sight. That literally means living our lives in a manner. This is how we're going to act. This is how we're going to talk. This is how we're going to walk. This is how we're going to live this life. But it's consistent with our confidence. Not our confidence in us, our confidence in our abilities and what we can do, but our confident belief in God's promises. Knowing, but again, we got to know his word. We got to know his word. We got to know the promises that are in there. But anywho, that is the amplified version of 2 Corinthians 5 and 7. So, what does it mean? What does it actually look like, should I say, to walk by faith and not by sight? I've given this testimony, and this is the best testimony that I could ever think. And when I say I love the Lord, I love the Lord, I love the Lord, He literally allowed me uh back in February for this to come full circle. So I don't remember the month. I wrote it down when I was talking to the gentleman, but I believe if I'm not mistaken, there was 2021, 22, the end of 21, beginning of 22, if I'm not mistaken. Um, and so there was something wrong with our car. We had bought our car uh from a Chevy dealership in uh little town, a little bit from us, and we had a warranty. So our our warranty through them had expired, and we had warranty through um Car Shield. So we had a warranty through Car Shield, um, and I was able to see you know what they covered, what they didn't cover. But anywho, let's take take a step back. So we went to find out what was wrong. The guy finally came and said, Yep, this is what's wrong. I'm gonna call your warranty company. So okay, bet. Um, but it was taking forever, and I've shared this with so many people, it's taking forever. So I went on to Car Shield and to look up what's covered, what's not. And so I went out there because again, it's been a minute, it's been like 30, 45 minutes, and I'm like, it doesn't take that long. And he said, Well, I apologize. We have one, you know, your old warranty on file. Um, and now we see you have car shield. He said, Yep, I'm on the phone with them now. And I'm like, Okay, I was literally about to say, you know, it's not covered, so let's just call quits. When the guy that he was talking to came back to the line, so he told me, Hold on one second. When sat down, a good like another 15, 20, 30 minutes. I mean, it had been a minute, and I was frustrated at this moment. I'm being so honest with you. I was frustrated at this moment, and so I'm just like, I'm ready to go. I know it's not covered, I see in black and white, whatever the piece is called. I can't think of it either, even right now. But it's not covered, it's not covered. I'm ready to go. I had been there probably two hours at this point, frustrated. I mean, frustrated. So I go out to say, dude, give me the keys my car, I'm ready to go. When he says, or they're gonna cover the fix, excuse me, he said, yeah, they're gonna cover the fix, and they're gonna pay for your rental car while we because it was a five, it's gonna take them five days to get the part in to get it on and all that big stuff. So they literally covered the rental car for me for five days, and I'm sitting here, mind you, when I say we walk by faith and not by sight, physical, literal, actual sight of reading the my document that says what is covered and what is not covered. That piece was not covered, but God, but got full circle. Um, I want to say it was earlier this year or last late last year, um, that same piece broke again, and it only had a three-year warranty, and we were past the three-year warranty. So, again, calling Car Shield, different dealership or different uh mechanic, but they called Car Shield, and this time, you know, I don't know whoever did the due deals, I don't know, but they would not cover the piece. So I physically mean being me, he said, Yeah, I see where we covered it back in 21-22. He said, and I I that was a blessing, that was a miracle because it's something that's not covered on your policy. I said, I know he said, So you got it fixed the first time on us, but you won't get it fixed the second time on us. But when I tell you, God even allowed it to come full circle to say it wasn't a misprint, it wasn't uh it was me working on your behalf. And when I tell you that for me was the biggest, and I mean biggest example of walking by faith, Lord. You know, I ain't got the finances to fix this piece on this car, Lord. You know, we need our car to get back and forth to work, get back and forth to church. We need a car because we at that time we only had one vehicle, just the one. I said, so I mean, literally, when I say walk by faith and not by sight, that's what I mean. I know that this warranty company does not cover this piece that has broken my car, but I serve for God, hallelujah, glory to your name, that can touch the heart of the person who's gonna approve something to be fixed, even though it's not supposed to, and they'll cover it again. Walking by faith and not by sight. I'm gonna give my first lady's testimony, um, and I don't remember the whole situation, but they knew they had a balance to be paid on a bill. They knew this, they had the uh the bill statement in their hand, went to the company. Literally, you can see the date, the amount, the whole nine yards, went to the company to say, Hey, I need to pay this bill. And they're saying, What bill? What bill again? I have a statement that I just got in the mail a week or two or three weeks ago, or whatever the case may be. I have not paid not one resident on this bill, and I go to the she went to the company to pay the bill, and there was a zero balance walking by faith and not by sight. God moves in the background like that. That's it, that's just who he is, that's how he operates. Again, he gives us those real life examples to say, hey, if I did something again, this is how I look at it. God is the God of the universe. I mean, he's he's God, he's Alpha and Omega, he knows our beginning from our end. He's God, he's the creator of everything. So if I that's me, that's how if I look at it like that, and he's saying, You got this little bitty itty bitty issue with the a car repair or bill to be paid. That's that's like no big deal to him. That's like me, you know, someone like my grandchild asking me for a quarter for the little gumball machines when we're at the grocery store or whatever. It's a quarter, like no big deal. Sure, babe. Here's a quarter. That's how I look at it when God is looking at us and our problems. Like, come on now, but again, he moves according to our faith, he moves according to our faith. Hallelujah, glory. And to me, it's in those times that when we begin to trust God in the uncertainty that our faith muscles are truly built stronger. I'm being honest with you, I'm being so honest with you. Again, I shared last week how God opened a door, and I mean this is a huge door, but I could not do it, I could not help but walk through it because it was such a great move of God. Don't get me wrong, in in 2021, when we ain't got but two dimes to rub together, for them to fix our car under that warranty was a great move of God. Hallelujah! I'm not diminishing that whatsoever, but when I look at the door that God just opened in my life, it's like mind-blowingly big. And it's like, but again, he said, But you've been praying for this. I might not have came the way you wanted me to, but you've been praying for this. Now I need you to walk through it again. It's in for me, those uncertain times, those that for me that okay, Lord, I gotta put my faith on even more and begin. Oh, glory, hallelujah! I begin to lift my faith dumbbell to make my faith strong uh muscles stronger. I'm so certain, it's in those uncertain times. I don't know what the next step is. I'm learning something brand new to me. I don't know anything about this world, anything about this, these scenarios. I don't know. But God, when I say I'm trusting you even the more, my faith is so planted in your promises, in your word, and what you've showing me. Seriously, but it's when we trust God in the uncertainty, when we allow Christ to just move and you we hear him and we're obedient, we hear him again. I don't care what it looks like with our natural eyes, I could care less what it looks like with our natural eyes. I'm going to trust the Lord, I'm going to stand on his promises. I want to read in your hearing Hebrews 11 and 1 again, amplified version. And this is what I love about the amplified version. It says, now faith is the assurance, title deed, confirmation of things hoped for, divinely guaranteed, and the evidence of things not seen. Again, we walk by faith and not by sight. Faith is the evidence of things not seen. But let's break that down. The conviction of their reality. Faith comprehends as fact. What cannot be experienced by the physical senses just yet. Faith comprehends as fact. What cannot be experienced by the physical senses, our sight is a physical sense. Our sight is a physical sense. We see, we touch, we smell, we taste. Our sight, we hear our sight. So we're walking by faith. Lord, I know what it looks like, but I know who you are. I know what I see before me, but I know how you moved the last time I had a situation close to this or a circumstance very near to this. Seriously. We walk by faith. And in those uncertain moments, ooh, Lord, we did we not talk about Peter coming out the boat. He was uncertain by that thing. He was uncertain. But Jesus, you said come, so I'm gonna go. Lord, you said walk through this door, so I'm gonna go. Lord, your word said you shall supply all, not most, not majority, but all of my need according to your riches and glory. So this may be a new need, and that's what I want to get to next. We have uh there's times where we're going to have to have faith in a new area of our life. So, what I was thinking about um as I was preparing for those lessons. So, say for instance, you have all your life been healthy, you're fit, you eat right, you exercise, you get plenty of sleep, you take your vitamins, you know, whatever, whatever. So your health has never been an issue. You've never been a sickly person, you've always been a healthy person, but you start not feeling good, so you go to the doctors and they tell you you got cancer or they tell you you got something else, you know, what something else that's just mind-blowing and throw you off your rocker. Seriously. Now you have to begin to believe the Lord in that area of health for you. You've never had to do that before. So this is an unknown area, this is an unseen outcome because I've been healthy all my life. Now I have cancer. I've been healthy all my life, now the symptoms of MS and lupus have come upon me. I've been healthy all my life, and then whatever it may be, heart disease. But now this is a new area of your life where you've never had to have faith before because you've it's been going so well. Oh, glory, it's been going along so well. But guess what? The same faith that you had for God in one area of your life, you gotta have it now in this new area where you've never needed it before. Faith when you've never needed faith before to for the healing, for the miracle, for the deliverance, for the breakthrough. Seriously, and maybe you know it's not help, maybe it's finances. Maybe you come from a you know, a well-to-do family, went off to college, you know, God bless and open doors, and right out of college, you got the perfect job, and and and now here it is, you've been working or whatever, and they do a big layoff because the company's been bought out, or whatever the case may be. And so, okay, well, you've done your due diligence, you got your savings stacked up. Again, we're supposed to have three months of savings, you know, stashed away. You got that. We're getting to the last month with the last little bit of your savings, you know. Your credit cards, you've kind of been living off those credit cards too. So they're kind of getting to the end of the maxed out. Again, you've never had to have faith in your finances because your family's to-do, well off to do, you know, and not don't allow pride to come in there where you don't ask for help. But beyond all that, just say there is no help. Say your parents are now retired and they're living on their retirement, so they don't have it to give to you. Whatever the case may be, you never trusted God in this area of finances in your life. But guess what? Now is time. Just like he blessed you with that perfect job out of college, just like he blessed you growing up and he was there with you, and you had faith, you know, that God was seeing the right husband or wife, you had faith that you all these other things, whatever that area, that new area is, just because you're just now needing faith in that area and it's uncertain to you, go ahead and flex those faith muscles that you use in all the other areas of your life. Because if God was there for you then and in those areas, don't you know he'll be here for you now in this new area? He changes not, he changes not what he did for you yesterday, last week, last month, last year, he's still gonna do for you. He's still sitting on the throne with all power in his hand. So, again, we have to understand. I don't care what it looks like, I don't care what my senses are telling me, I'm gonna walk by faith. And how do you know? How do you know that God, again, the word lets us know he's no respect of persons, he's no respect of persons, and this is a new area, or this is an uncertain, you're going through uncertain times or whatever the case may be. I'm gonna need you to hear some testimonies of some people that God has already brought through those things. Seriously, seriously, it's glory, hallelujah. I know because he's done it for them, so he'll do it for me. Again, it's uncertain. I I know God moved on this part, I know he did, but Jesus, I need you to move on this part, and again, it's it's kind of new to me, Lord. So I need some help. Your help comes through hearing the testimony of what he's done for others, your help comes through going again back into the word of God. That's where we get that help to make it through. That's where we get that help again. Spotters, glory to your name, Jesus. Spotters. Weightlifters have spotters because they're lifting new weight limits or what have you. So they have spotters. Who's your spotter? Who's your faith spotter? That's a very good question. Who is your faith spotter? Go hear that testimony, go read that book, go go, you know, whatever the case, go on TikTok. So many people. When I tell you I was scrolling TikTok yesterday, because I don't feel the best, but I was scrolling TikTok yesterday as I was laying in bed, and when I say testimony after testimony after testimony of what God has done in their lives, so we can't say we don't have access to it. Go get on TikTok, go get on Facebook, go get on Instagram and read the testimony, listen to the testimonies or whatever the case may be of how God has moved in other people's lives because he'll do the same for you. Okay? Alright, so our faith challenge for the week. We're gonna make one decision this week based on faith, not logic, not feelings, not we not by visible proof, but you're gonna pray about something, hear the Lord and then move. Not waiting for things to line up, not sitting there trying to figure out what was lesson one or two, you know, not allowing time to come in with the doubt and no. Pray. Hear the Lord and move. Pray, hear the Lord and move. Again, walk by faith. If there's something that you believe in the Lord for and you hear him say, move, or you hear him say, Don't worry, please don't worry. Please don't worry. Because this is something that I learned. I promise you, I learned it, I learned it, I learned it. When we pray, then worry. Why do we pray at all? Why do we pray at all? Worrying and saying, God, I don't believe you'll do it. I don't trust that you can do it. I don't have faith in you. When we worry about something, that's what it's saying. Worry cancels out faith every single time, every single day. So don't pray and then worry. No, pray, hear God, and move, okay? As always, I want to ask who would like to give their life to Christ. It's not too late. If you have breath in your body, it's not too late to give Christ your life. It's not too late to live for him. He's already purchased your life with his blood, he shed his blood for you. So why not go ahead and give him the life again that's already his and live for him? Same thing for that backslider. You want to walk with Christ and you decided to turn away. But he never left you. He's still waiting there at the altar. Glory. And the altar, I don't mean a church, I mean the altar in your heart, the altar in your mind. He's waiting there for you to return to receive you with open arms. Who wants to give your life to Christ? You can put it in the comments, and I'll pray with you, I'll pray for you. God hears me, I will. Hallelujah. But I mean, seriously, if you uh someone asked my pastor, and I, and then again, if they asked it, I can guarantee you they're not the only ones who had that question or who has this belief. Oh, I'll just wait till I get to heaven, then ask for forgiveness. I was, I don't know what day, but here recently, no joke, like past three, four days, I said to myself, God, so many people are gonna get to judgment day and be totally surprised. They just know they're gonna make it in, and they're gonna hear from they're gonna hear, depart from me, you worker of iniquity, I knew you're not. There's gonna be so many, but let that not be your testimony, let that not be you. Give your life to Christ, walk according to his word, his statutes, and his commandments, and hear well done, thy good and faithful servant. All right, let's go ahead and close out in prayer. Lord, we just thank you for this lesson. We thank you for this opportunity, this space for you to just download into us. Lord Jesus, help us all to walk more by faith and less by sight. Be with each and every one of us, Lord Jesus, as we continue to grow in you, Lord Jesus, as we continue to grow our measure of faith, as we continue to draw closer unto you, Lord Jesus, hallelujah. We know their words that you if we abide in you, then you abide in us. Hallelujah. Glory to your name, Lord Jesus. Help us, glory, hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah, yes, Lord, yes, Lord. Help us to abide in you. Let that branch not break off. Glory to your name, Lord Jesus. As it begins to get weak, Lord, send more nutrients, send more nutrients, hallelujah, strengthen it, Lord Jesus, in our areas, Lord God, where we are lacking faith. Help us, glory to you to I. Identify it. Glory to your name. And then begin to work on it. Hallelujah. Again, walking by faith for real. Not just as a cliche, not just as something to say that we're doing, but to actually do it. Hallelujah. And the fruit of it to be seen. Glory to your name. We just thank you on today, Lord. We ask that you please forgive us of anything we have said, done, thought, or felt that is unlike you, Lord Jesus. Continue to order our footsteps. Lead us and guide us in your righteousness. Hallelujah. Revealing, Lord God, those sins that we have sinned against you that we may not sin again. Glory to your name, and Lord, we just thank you for all things that you're doing in our lives each and every day. And it's in Jesus' mighty name that we pray. Amen. Amen.
