We’re in that in-between season.. past Christmas, not quite to the new year and I wanted to use this time intentionally.

I’m sharing what I’m bringing with me into 2026, some new habits I want to try, and what I’m choosing to leave behind in 2025. From morning routines, movement, hydration, and meal planning, to screen time boundaries, budgeting, faith, and choosing a word for the year — this episode is an honest look at the systems and habits that help me feel grounded and consistent.

I also talk openly about the things I’m ready to let go of, like constant resets, procrastination, self-sabotage, overthinking, and overcomplicating my life.

If you’re feeling reflective, craving clarity, or wanting to move into the new year with intention instead of pressure, this episode is for you.

✨ My word for 2026: Patience

Thanks for being here, and thanks for listening.

You don't need a perfect moment to start living a healthier, happier life. Welcome to Hannah's Healthy Habits, a podcast about learning, growing, and building a healthier life from the inside out. And now we're doing it together. Hi guys. Welcome back to the podcast if you are listening in real time, Merry Christmas. Christmas was only a couple days ago, so I hope you were able to spend time with family. Get to gather with people you don't get to see all of the time. Have good conversations, good food, lots of gifts, and just celebrating Christmas for the right reasons. Today's episode is going to be a little different. We will be talking all about what I'm bringing into 2026, new things I wanna try in the new year and what I'm leaving in 2025. We're in a weird time right now where we're past Christmas, but we're not quite to the new year, and we're all kind of in this weird in-between stage. And for me, I really want to be intentional with these next few days. I have a couple days off of work and I just really wanna get clear on who I want to be in this new year, the way I'm going to carry myself, the habits I'm going to have, and really focus in on what I want to bring into this new year. So starting off with what I'm bringing into 2026, a lot of these you have probably heard before, but these are the things that really I. Make me feel in routine and systems and habits that I find that help me the most. So number one is morning routine. I will definitely be bringing my morning routine into 2026. and most importantly, giving God my first moment. As soon as I wake up thanking him for whatever, whatever I can think of before my feet even touched the floor, giving gratitude, giving praise, praying to him, spending time in my Bible, that is something that I want to prioritize all of 2026. I feel like I have figured out the perfect formula for me. It looks different for everyone, but I personally think that the way I start my mornings is what fuels me throughout the day. Tangible. It's consistent. It's something that I can do every day and I don't get tired of. So I'll be keeping that same routine going into 2026. Number two is habit stacking. So if that's a term you're not familiar with, basically what you do is you pair a new habit with a habit that you already do. So if you want to be better at taking your vitamins, maybe pair that with brushing your teeth. But putting that habit with one that already exists in your routine, so it's more second nature, instead of just trying to create a new habit out of thin air. Number three is movement. Five days a week. For me, I feel like five days is totally manageable. Anything less I start to kind of feel off, feel out of routine. And that could be stretching one day. That could be going on a walk. It could be high intensity or hot workouts, whatever, whatever it may be. But my personal goal is five workouts a week. Number four is hydration. So. Like I said all last episode, hydration, hydration, hydration. That is something that I want to keep moving forward into the new year. I feel like in the mornings I'm pretty good about drinking my water throughout the day. I kind of fall off and then at the end of the day, I am chugging my water. So I do want to be more consistent, but definitely a habit I want to continue. Number five is meal planning and meal prepping. But in 2026, I do wanna take this a step further. I went to a journaling class probably a year or two ago, and the lady was teaching us how to do a monthly meal plan, grocery list, and then how to prep it. So that's something that I wanna take into 2026. I really wanna focus in on my health and my nutrition, so. For me, if I have everything prepped chopped, it's so much easier for me to go through and make everything. So that is definitely a habit I will be bringing into 2026. Number six is hot tea, whether that be in the morning or at nighttime. I like doing a little sleepy time tea. With some honey. So just being more consistent with that. I feel like that's just a once in a while habit, but I do want to be more consistent. It just, it helps whenever we're going through the Cold Seasons and sore throats, stuff like that, and it's just something that I want to prioritize. Number seven is making coffee at home. Whenever I first moved, I got coffee out. The whole week and I looked at my bank statements and it's just silly how much. You spend on coffee when you buy it out versus how much you spend on it whenever you just make it at home. So that is definitely something I will be continuing to do in 2026, is making my own coffee. It's not too sweet. It tastes exactly how I want it to taste. I can change up the flavors. I'm pretty boring and basic. I'm good with just drinking the same coffee over and over, and then when I run out of. Syrups or whatever, then I'll change it up. I have been doing the mushroom coffee lately from everyday dose. I like it. I think it's good. It doesn't taste like mushrooms, but it's more of a mild. Caffeine buzz, I guess you would call it, but I really like that I mix it with some heavy whipping cream or some milk, or honestly, for the most part, I will just do water and maple syrup, and I think it tastes great. So very simple, very manageable, and saving a lot of money. Number eight is reading more. I. I always like reading. It's just not a habit that I pick up every day, so I will definitely be bringing that into 2026. I have a lot of good books that I want to read. I just don't make the time for it. But then once I get in the habit of reading, I feel like I could just read all day long. So we're gonna keep this flow going and just keep reading in 2026. Number nine is making physical calendars. I. I love journaling. I love writing things down. I love making little spreads in my notebook. So for me, I love a physical calendar. I like to decorate it. I like to make it all cute and honestly, just to have it all there is so nice. I am a pen and paper type of girl, so I will be bringing my physical calendar into 2026. And kind of going along with that one. Number 10 is monthly reviews. So each month I will go through my calendar, go through my journal entries, kind of pick my wins and losses or good things and not so good things that happen throughout the month. And then it makes it easier at the end of the year to kind of go through and see what your wins and losses were and what went good, what didn't. It's good to check in with yourself at the end of each month so you can reflect and go into the next month very intentionally. Number 11 is screen time limits. I brought these in my year. This year. I brought these into my year this year, and I will definitely be keeping them. I have. Limits on my social media apps. I think it's an hour between all of them and honestly, I, I deleted most of them, but I will say I get caught up in the algorithm a little bit, so I will definitely be keeping those screen times in place. Another thing number 12 is black and white mode. On my phone, I've kind of. Played around with the concept of getting a dumb phone or a flip phone, but I have a perfectly good iPhone that I can delete the apps off of, so I think that's what I'm gonna do. I don't know what I would do without my maps. I would probably get lost or take the wrong way. Honestly, I just love it for knowing what the fastest route is too. So yes, I will definitely be keeping my iPhone, but I saw this thing months ago and it was talking about turning your phone on black and white mode. And let me tell you, it will make you not want to get on social media because. I don't know. I don't know if it's boring or if it's just, it feels wrong, but that is something that I will be starting in the new year once I go through all the things I need to go through on my phone. But I will definitely be turning my phone on black and white mode, keep it nice and boring, and keep me in the real world, not the digital world. Some new things I want to try in 2026. The first one I've been wanting to do for a long time is a spin class. I have been going to a gym pretty consistently. They have classes there, and that is something I've been having on my radar for a while. I get nervous because I've never done a spin class before, but I've heard really good things, and I think this is gonna be the year that I try a spin class. Number 15 is running. So another habit I wanna bring into 2026. I have wanted to do a 5K for a while. I am no runner by any means. I will sometimes run to the dumpster. It's cold outside, but that's typically all the running that I do. I don't despise running, but it is not. A habit that I love to do, but I think it'd be really cool to pick up running in 2026 and you know, it's fun. Go on a little run, maybe do a little race of sorts. So yeah, number 16 is budgeting and tracking my spending. I. Am really bad about just buying, just buying things, and I don't really check and see. I don't, I don't budget point blank. I do not budget, and so that is something new that I want to really focus on in 2026, like I was talking about earlier with the meal planning, just really focusing in on my finances, kind of see where all my money is going, and just be intentional with my spending. Number 17 is something that I actually did the other day. It's a 2025 wrap up list. So basically I made a long to-do list of things that I want to do before the end of the year slash beginning of the new year, but it's everything that I need to clean, all the things I need to declutter, go through my emails, go and delete pictures. Anything and everything that you can think of, I want you to make a list and make it your 2025 wrap up. It can even be in the new year. It's okay, but just a big master list to where if you ever have free time or you're sitting around thinking I should be doing something, you can refer to this list and knock it out. Number 18 is a 2025 audit, so I did this last year on New Year's Day. I love doing a yearly audit, just kind of seeing. Where I was, where I'm at now, going through my year, seeing what went well, what didn't, and just being very intentional and getting very clear on how I want to move forward going into the new year. The easiest way for me is I like to do a little multitask of going through and deleting pictures that I don't need and making the list. It's very easy if you are a DHD to get sidetracked, but just try to just have your phone in the paper and a pen. Do your best and try and knock the list out, but I feel like going through my pictures is the easiest way for me to remember what happened throughout the year, as well as going through my journal and all of my monthly reviews. And my final one for new things to try in 2026 is going on. Just little adventures by myself with friends, really getting out and doing things. I feel like this past year was all about building my business and working, so I want to be very intentional on friendships, all of the relationships in my life, and building those up, having fun, prioritizing that, and travel. That's another thing is travel. I want to do some traveling this year. Finally what? I'm leaving in 2025. Number 20, no phone. First thing in the morning. I have been pretty good about charging my phone in the other room, but I would be lying if I said that I don't click it whenever I walk out into the kitchen. So that is something that I really want to be mindful of. Going into the new year is not getting on my phone when I first wake up. There's no need for me to check it. It's all gonna be there in an hour or so whenever I get done with my morning routine. So that is just something I need to leave in this past year. Number 21 is constantly resetting. So telling myself I'll start again on Monday. Or if I eat something bad, eating bad the rest of the day and telling myself I'll do better tomorrow if you mess up, it's okay. We are all human. I'm myself included. But if you miss a workout, workout the next day, if you eat something bad for lunch, maybe have a healthy dinner. If you, I don't know, whatever it may be, we're not gonna reset each day, each month, each week. It's all about balance in 2026, so no constant resets. Number 22 is self-sabotage. I am the queen of self-sabotage. 22 and 23 kind of go together. 23 is procrastination. I feel like, I don't know why I am so bad about this, but I will wait until the last minute to do things, but then I'll self-sabotage and make those things take even longer to where then I just am up all night trying to finish my daily tasks because for whatever reason, I wanted to start a puzzle before I sat down to start my podcast. This is what happened today, and I don't know why I, I don't know why I thought putting a thousand piece puzzle together before I started my podcast would be a good idea. But you know what? I did it and I did not put the whole thing together. I just did the border, most of the border. But yeah, I really need to work on not procrastinating and not self-sabotaging. I do that with food. If my stomach is hurting because I ate something bad, I like to eat another bad thing because my stomach already hurts. I don't know what kind of girl logic this is, but that is something I do not need to bring into the new year.. Number 24 is picking at my skin. I have been so anxious this past year and it's more of an. Me picking at my skin, biting at the skin around my nails. I was doing so, so good at not biting my nails at, not biting the skin around my nails at not picking my skin. But I don't know, I guess maybe opening a business really did it for me. I. I keep picking out my skin and that is something that I don't need to do. I know better. I'm an aesthetician. I should be the one that shouldn't be picking out my skin, so that is something I will definitely be trying to leave in 2025. Number 25 is overthinking and overcomplicating. I am really bad about getting in my head, getting anxious about things that don't matter. But God is here to guide me. He's here to lead me. He's here to cast out all worries and anxieties, and there's no need for me to bring any of the overthinking, any of the anxiety, any of the overcomplicated routines into 2026. So that is something that we'll be staying here in 2025. And number 26 is setting intentional goals. Instead of setting New Year's resolutions, I am going to get very clear in the next couple days of some goals that I want to accomplish in the new year. Instead of setting resolutions. I don't. I really like the term resolution. I feel like it's easier to fall off of those routines and habits and systems, so I just wanna be very clear and set mindful goals, intentional goals, accomplishable, actionable steps that will get me to these goals instead of throwing a needle in a haystack and trying to stay on my resolutions. I realized that I missed my number one most important goal of the new year, and that is not being late. I am always late or right on time, but rushing to get out the door to be right on time or a couple minutes late. So in 2026, that is if I were to have a New year's resolution. It would be to not be late, but that is my number one goal is to not be late anymore. I don't like it. I don't like the anxiety that it gives me when I'm in the car. So yeah, no, being late in 2026, I. One thing I did want to do here at the end is I like to come up with a word for myself every year. So this past year was growth. And I feel like I really did stick to my word this year was a lot of growth in my life, in all areas of my life. So in 2026, my word is patience. That is something that I can definitely work on. I am not a very patient person and God calls us to be patient and to trust his timing. So that is what I will be doing all of 2026, is being patient, trusting God's timing, and knowing that his way is always the best way. It's the way that I want to live my life and the best way to honor him. So. In 2026, I am going to be more patient. All right, well, that is my list, 2026 ins and outs, things that I'm bringing into the new year, new things I want to try and things that I'm leaving in 2025. If you enjoyed this episode, please leave a rating, a review, a comment. If you like this style of episode, let me know. It was a little bit different than normal.
