Welcome back to Roots to Restoration, Faith, Family, and Healing with Marie. In the last episode, we talked about why we react the way we do and how many of our responses come from things we learned over time. But today we're taking the next step because awareness is important. But what we do with the awareness is what creates change. You can't always control what you feel, but you can learn how to respond. James 1 verse 19 says, Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to become angry. Knowing why you react doesn't automatically change it. Because in the moment it still feels natural to respond the same way, to shut down, to react quickly, to overthink. And that's where many people feel stuck. Because they realize the pattern but don't yet know how to shift it. Change rarely happens all at once. It happens in small moments. Moments where you pause instead of reacting immediately. Moments where you breathe instead of speaking from emotions. Moments where you choose understanding instead of defensiveness. And at first those moments can feel uncomfortable because you're responding differently than what feels familiar. It looks like taking a moment before replying, stepping away briefly instead of reacting in frustration. Asking yourself what am I actually feeling right now? And learning how to express yourself with clarity instead of emotional overload. You are not powerless in your responses. You have a choice, even if it starts small. And the moment you practice that pause, the more grounded you become, the more peace you create within yourself, and over time, what once felt automatic begins to shift. God often works in the pause, in the quiet moment, between feeling and reacting. Because when you slow down enough, you begin to hear differently, you begin to think differently, you begin to respond differently. Not from pressure, not from fear, but from peace. You do not have to react the same way forever. You are learning, you are growing, and every time you choose peace over reaction, you are moving forward, even if it doesn't happen perfectly every time. Ask yourself what situation causes me to react the quickest, and then ask what would it look like to pause in the moment next time? Growth is not perfection, it's awareness, it's intention, it's choosing differently one moment at a time, and that's part of becoming. Let us close with a prayer. Heavenly Father, help us to slow down and respond with wisdom and peace. Teach us to pause before reacting and guide us towards clarity, understanding, and growth. In Jesus' name, amen. As we continue this season, this is part of a deeper reflection in the journey. Take what you need from it and let it meet you where you are. Thank you for joining me on Roots to Restoration, Fate, Family, and Healing with Marie. Be blessed and continue growing in faith, healing, and restoration one season at a time.
