In this episode of Digging Deep for Treasures, Cecille shares a personal reflection on how caregiving for her sick brother and 94-year-old father deepened her faith rather than drained it. Drawing from John 14:27, she explores the difference between the world's fragile peace and the lasting peace Jesus offers. If you've ever felt overwhelmed by responsibility, anxiety, or the competing voices of fear and doubt, this encouraging message will remind you that Christ's peace is available even in life's most demanding seasons.

Hello, friend. You know those voices in your head, the ones that sound like your parents, your teachers, the world around you, and even your own inner voice, sometimes anxious, sometimes critical? We listen to them all day long, and often they leave us feeling more restless than at peace. But not every voice is meant to guide us. There is one voice that never leads us wrong, the voice of Jesus, and when He speaks, He brings peace. Hello, my name is Cecille. I point women to where they can find peace when life feels loud. In this episode, we will be focusing on John 14:27, "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give to you: not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid." For almost five years, I remotely took care of my older brother who was sick and full-time of my 94-year-old father here at home. It wasn't easy, and there were lots of stress or anxiety-producing moments in that journey. But I will share with you one surprising way caregiving deepened my faith instead of draining it. Stay tuned. Welcome to Digging Deep for Treasures podcast. This is Cecille Valoria, a Christian author and a retired teacher. This podcast is to encourage women to grow in their faith and harness the power of the Holy Spirit as we unearth scriptural truths so that we can live a peace-filled life in our fear-prone world. So now sit back, relax, and let's dig deep for treasures in His Word John 14:27. "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled. Neither let them be afraid." Are you a family caregiver? If you are or have been, you know how it can place you in deeply isolating spaces. While the world moves quickly, people heading to work, school, gatherings, and full calendars, a caregiver can find herself within the same four walls day after day. And in that quiet, the voices can grow louder. The questions, the pressure, the fears you don't always say out loud. Am I doing enough? Will things ever change? Why does this feel so heavy? It's in this moment the kind of peace we long for can feel far away, and the unrest in our hearts feel very near. As a former caregiver for both my brother and my dad, I have felt this restlessness deeply, but this is exactly where Jesus meets us. In John 14, Jesus is speaking to His disciples, preparing them for His return to the Father. He knew they would feel the weight of His physical absence. He even says in verse 25, "These things I have spoken to you while I am still with you." He is reassuring them, though they will no longer see Him, they will not be left alone. And then He gives them this promise, "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give to you." Jesus makes a distinction that matters deeply, "Not as the world gives do I give to you." This isn't the kind of peace the world offers. The world's peace depends on circumstances, on things settling down, improving, or making sense. And Jesus offers His peace not just to His disciples, but to you as well. A peace that is steady when your days are unpredictable, a peace that is present when you feel alone, a peace that quiets your heart even when your situation hasn't changed. This kind of peace doesn't remove responsibility, but it removes the weight of carrying it alone. His peace is not tied to what is happening around you. It is rooted in who He is. His invitation is gentle but clear. "Let not your hearts be troubled. Neither let them be afraid." Not because life is easy, but because He is with you in it What has been stirring unrest in your heart lately? What voices have been the loudest? Today, what would it look like to pause and receive the peace Jesus is already offering you? Let's pray. Father, you see me in the quiet moments, in the routines, the responsibilities, and the weight I carry each day. So many voices compete for my attention, and sometimes my heart feels overwhelmed and restless. Help me to recognize your voice above all the others. Remind me that the peace you give is not fragile or temporary, but steady and true. Teach my heart to rest in you, even when my circumstances don't change. Today, I choose to receive your peace.
