Prayer For Alignment And Assurance
CareyWhat role does the Lord God play in your planning? Proverbs sixteen three tells us, commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established. We're going to ponder what that means for us on today's evening mindset. People want to see good come from the things that they're doing, and they have all these ambitious plans for how they're going to get there. But what we learn in Proverbs 16.3 is that the plans of human beings don't always work out the way they should, and oftentimes don't work at all because they are contrary or crossways with the plans of God. Proverbs 16.3 tells us, commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established. Now, what this is not saying is that it's a bad thing to plan. It also is not saying, bring your plan to the Lord and ask him for a stamp of approval. No, it's the other way around. Commit your work to the Lord. So, in other words, seek his guidance as you do your planning. Seek his will for your life and his purposes for the people around you and how he wants to use you to bless them. When we approach life with this mentality, that my entire life, my work, my pleasure, my hobbies, it's all going to be committed to the Lord first. He blesses that, friends, like you would never believe. And our plans to do those things will be established. So as you go to sleep tonight, ponder that. How much are you committed to the Lord? And is your life and work committed to Him? And how much of it is of your own doing, your own making, your own planning? Rest in the Lord as His Spirit speaks to you right now. How our work has not been according to your will and your wishes. Help us to make a course correction, Lord. Give us a heart that's eager to align with yours. And as we rest, give us assurance that as we do that, you will be with us and you will establish our plans because they, in the end, are your plans. We ask it in Jesus' name.
