Scripture For Night Reflection
CareyToday's evening mindset meditation comes from Luke twelve, eight and nine. And I tell you, everyone who acknowledges me before men, the Son of Man also will acknowledge before the angels of God, but the one who denies me before men will be denied before the angels of God. Ponder Jesus' words as the music plays.
Why Devotion Has Eternal Weight
CareyWhat Jesus reveals here is that devotion to him is of utmost importance, not just for the benefit that comes into our lives because of it, but for eternal reasons. You see, Jesus is King of Kings. That's not just a title, that's not just a fancy way of saying how special he is. He is literally the ruler over all the universe. God the Father has made it so. And so when he says,
Bold Compassion Over Fear Of People
Careyif you acknowledge me before men, in other words, you will stand for the truth of who I am. Not in a mean or argumentative way, but in a bold and compassionate way. So when all this stuff we call earthly life is done, you will have a home in heaven. You will be part of the family of God. But if for whatever reason you find yourself denying Jesus over and over and over, because of the fear of men, because of what people might think of you, then you will be denied before the angels of God because Jesus was not your treasure. So friends, for Jesus' sake, because of who he is, use this moment before bedtime to realign your heart with Jesus.
Prayer Of Surrender Before Sleep
CareyWe want to lay aside all the things that feel and seem so important to us in life, our families, our careers, our goals, our dreams and aspirations. We want to lay them all down at your feet. And to ask your Holy Spirit to make a change in us that makes us so in love with you, so bold for you, that we will acknowledge you gladly, joyfully, at any time in our lives, Lord. Cause these thoughts and these commitments to grow in us even as we sleep tonight. We ask this in Jesus' name.
