Jeremiah 33 Read Aloud

Carey

Thus says the Lord who made the earth, the Lord who formed it and established it. The Lord is his name. Call to me, and I will answer you, and I will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known. That's from the book of Jeremiah, chapter thirty-three, verses two through three.

When Fear Makes You Feel Rejected

Carey

They were in a time of turmoil, a time when their emotions and their minds were reeling, because God's discipline had come on them. And they were fearful. They wondered if God had rejected them entirely. And God is reassuring them that his covenant to his people is not one that is easily thrown away. In fact, he has committed himself to his people, and even in the times of discipline or correction, he urges them to call out to him.

God’s Commitment Through Discipline

Carey

Friends, maybe you're in a place in your life where you feel like you're reaping some consequences of disobedience or bad decisions. Maybe you are thinking God is done with you. Can I encourage you tonight that Jeremiah's words, recording Yahweh's heart toward you, are true for you as well. If you've placed your faith in Jesus, he is committed to you. He has committed himself as very being to you, to be ready to answer you when you call, to tell you great and hidden things you have not known. It means he wants to guide you in life.

Breathe And Return To Trust

Carey

So take a deep breath. Let it all out. Let yourself focus on the truth of God's presence and his availability to you as you repent, as you turn your heart toward him, as you enable him to come in and minister to you and turn things around, at least in your heart, where you can rest, where you can trust him, where you can move to a place of reliance that you haven't been in in a very long time. So as you prepare for rest tonight, set your mind on this truth that God will answer if you call it.

Closing Prayer For Peaceful Rest

Carey

We call to you tonight. We do want you to answer us. We ask you to tell us the great and hidden things we have not known. Guide us into a deeper understanding of you, who you are, what you're doing in our lives. Lord, we want to walk in the paths you have for us to walk and rest in the fact that you are our God. Put us to bed tonight with that kind of assurance and that kind of peace.
