Welcome And Scripture Reading
CareyWelcome back to the evening mindset. Today we're looking at Psalm thirty-seven, verses five and six. Commit your way to the Lord, trust in him, and he will act. He will bring forth your righteousness as the light and your justice as the noonday. Ponder those words for this evening mindset meditation.
Trusting God Feels Hard
CareyTrust in him. That's a tall order, isn't it? We humans can be pretty selfish. We have our own agenda for our lives. We think of our lives as ours, something we have the right to rule. But this psalm begins with a different assumption. It begins that our way is not actually our way, it is the Lord's. And we are to commit it to Him. We're to entrust it to Him. And then it says when we do that, when we relinquish control, we give it to Him, He will act. Boy, isn't that great! So much better than me acting in kind of a fog of obscurity,
Surrendering Control So God Acts
Careynot really knowing what to do. God will act, and He's the one who knows exactly what to do. And look what it says, some of the results will be.
Righteousness And Justice Made Clear
CareyAnd He will make it bright and shining for the world to see. And He will bring forth your justice as the noonday, meaning making situations where it's questionable what your role is or whether you're guilty or innocent. He'll make those very, very clear to people. And it all goes back to our decision to commit our way to the Lord, to trust in Him. You see, as we give God full control, full sway over our lives, He brings us to a place where we can truly rest because we're not the one who has to act. He is a very good idea.
Prayer For Trust And Rest
CareyTo trust in you. Take our hands off of our lives, take our attitudes and bend them, shape them, mold them, to be submissive to your will for this thing we call our life. And enable us to trust you, to bring forth our righteousness as the light, to cause our justice to shine like the noonday. And as we put our heads on the pillow tonight, remind us you're the kind of God who is capable of those things and so much more as we commit our way to you.
