Where do we find hope? What is in store for America?

Today, I want to talk to you about my hope for America. In Psalm 33, verse 12, it reads, Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people he has chosen as his own inheritance. Now, this is a reference to the Jewish people that God had chosen, and their purpose in being chosen was to then be a light to the rest of the world, to walk in a covenant relationship with God and to make him known. They failed at that task, and they even failed to recognize the Messiah when he came. And so now we see that Jesus has given this charge in the Great Commission that we are all to go into all of the world, being a light unto the world, making him known. But this principle of blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people he's chosen as his own inheritance, this still stands. But what does it mean for a nation to have whose God is the Lord? What does that mean? Well, we know that in the ancient days they had all kinds of different gods that they worshiped, and there were different tribes or cultures or cities, areas, regions that would have their own gods, even to their specific location. So historically, where it says whose God is the Lord, in your Bible, that will be in all caps, L-O-R-D. This is a reference to Yahweh. So basically, what this is saying in its historical context is the nation is blessed, whose God, the God that reigns over them, that they have chosen, that they serve, that they follow, is Yahweh, the one true and living God. Now, America was founded as a Christian nation. Historical documents just prove this. If you look objectively at history, that is true. America was founded as a Christian nation. And so my hope for America is that we would return to our roots. There are two concepts in Scripture, one of the remnant and the other of the day of the Lord, that I think really go together as I talk about my hope for America. I think that at one point the United States of America was a largely Christian nation. That means people were actually living out their Christianity. But what we see today is the things that Scripture condemns are being celebrated, are being put forth as a new norm. And the world is trying to put Christianity and the word of God in the corner. Say that we're obsolete, that we don't mean anything anymore. But God always has a remnant. So while we may not be the majority, God always has those who will be faithful to him, who will follow him. And God wants to continue to use anyone who will remain true to him. Because there is also coming a day of the Lord. Throughout Scripture, the day of the Lord was a time when God would come and judge his enemies, the wicked who had rebelled against him, and vindicate his people who had often suffered. And they had held on, they had held fast until God's great day of the Lord. That's what the book of Revelation is about, is there's coming a day when Jesus will return, he will judge this world, and he will vindicate his own, and he will take us home. So my hope for America is that God always has a remnant, number one, that there will always be those who remain faithful to him. But number two, we know that no matter what happens in the days, weeks, or months to come, and I am so grateful to live in the United States of America. I am so grateful for those who have died for the freedoms we have. I am so grateful for our country. But no matter what happens in the future, we know that it is the kingdom of God which endures to the end. And there is coming a day when Jesus returns, and every other kingdom, every other country, every other dominion will come to an end, and we will all kneel before the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. And so my hope is that God is at work now, and yet for the believer in Jesus Christ, the best is still yet to come. Psalm 33, 12. Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people he has chosen as his own inheritance. May we be those people. It begins with one. May I be the person that follows after the Lord, that brings a blessing to myself and to those around me. May I lead my family. May I be the one that leads my family in the ways of the Lord. May I be the one that is a part of seeing my community follow the Lord. My church follow the Lord. My county, my state. We need Christian leaders everywhere in politics, in government. We need Christians who are lawyers, who are dentists, who are school teachers in every area to influence people in the ways of the Lord, and that you might know his blessing, and that we might bring the blessings of God back to this great country. So my hope for America is that in the end, God is gracious, and each day that we live is God giving us another chance to turn to him, to return to him, and to be found faithful when the Lord Jesus returns. If you have breath in your lungs today, as you watch this, as you listen to this, this is your chance to walk with the Lord, to make him known, and to usher in his blessing into your own life and to those around you. Because even if we suffer, even if we are persecuted, even if we lose everything physically in this life, we gain heaven. The Christian always wins because Christ has gone before.
