So do we clap?
SPEAKER_00Hi Cammy.
SPEAKER_03Hi Cammy. You know what I realized? We haven't clapped in a while. We haven't.
SPEAKER_00Oh. You know like how you grow out of saying stupid when you're a kid? Maybe we just like Nash. Sometimes Nash used to say Nash used to say five got.
SPEAKER_04No, two got. Or two got four got. I forgot. Or two got.
SPEAKER_00And five got.
SPEAKER_04That is really cute.
SPEAKER_00We figured it out when he said five got. We're like, oh, he's just putting numbers in front of it. Now he doesn't say it anymore.
SPEAKER_04It's kind of like it's heartbreaking, but the girls still say it.
SPEAKER_00So it's kind of like me. I'm just I stopped saying stupid sh clapping.
SPEAKER_04We've switched to it.
SPEAKER_00Because I realized I'm like, everybody's gonna adjust.
SPEAKER_04I told him he had to switch up the questions, though. Because now the government's admitting we have aliens and it's not cool anymore, because then it's probably a lie. Like as soon as they came out and said we have aliens. I'm like, oh no, we don't. It's a lie.
SPEAKER_02You are feeling close to me. You know, just feel inside of me.
SPEAKER_04Um, hi, welcome to Beans and Banter. I am Nicole Fisher. Come on, just your two.
SPEAKER_00It's your turn. I'm Keith.
SPEAKER_03Fisher. And I'm Cammy. How do you say your name? My actual name.
SPEAKER_00Nobody knows you by that.
SPEAKER_03Nobody can say my first name or my last name. How do you say your last name? Orgle. Orgle. It just doesn't go past here. Yeah. It stays in the German throat.
SPEAKER_01Orgle.
SPEAKER_03Last time we picked on someone's last name, that didn't do us any good. I think I was the last one you picked on. Or no, that was my first name. But no, that didn't go over very well. No. But boom. Or did it?
SPEAKER_04I don't know. He isn't came on the show. He still delivers our ships coffee out.
SPEAKER_00So he's Well, he likes those orders coming in every week.
SPEAKER_04Would he come on? He said he would. Okay. Yeah. Um, so funny story, I'm not very organized. He's like, yeah, Nicole, I'm not gonna be able to make it to the podcast tomorrow. Something came up like he had, I'm like, I didn't have him written down. I'm like, oh, okay, no worries.
SPEAKER_00In your planner from 1980, you didn't have that in there.
SPEAKER_03I like looked at my planner. I'm like, I don't have when was he supposed to be on?
SPEAKER_04It was a while ago. Oh, funny.
SPEAKER_00It was soon after the whole boon, boom, debacle.
SPEAKER_04Okay, he'd be interesting.
SPEAKER_00He's an interesting thing.
SPEAKER_04He's like he has a radio voice.
SPEAKER_00Uh-huh.
SPEAKER_04He has like a um yeah, a strong.
SPEAKER_00Uh-huh.
SPEAKER_04What is he? What did we find out when I googled his last name?
SPEAKER_00I don't remember. I want to say Finnish just because I think it's wrong.
SPEAKER_04It's Dutch. It's Dutch. Yes. It's Dutch. He's I don't are Dutchmen strong. I don't think they're strong.
SPEAKER_00The flying Dutchman. That's pretty strong.
SPEAKER_04I feel like it's not it like notoriously known to be a strong. No. Oh, strong Dutchman. Got strong, got strong shoes and fans. Don't they have the fans?
SPEAKER_00I don't know.
SPEAKER_04Okay. I'm just thinking of old Dutch. I'm thinking of old Dutch chips. Is Holland Dutch?
SPEAKER_00Don't let's not test geography right now. Or like we'll look it up.
SPEAKER_04Um, all right. So hey, we're we're gonna have an episode right now. We're doing that right now. Um just like a catch-up. Yeah, kind of touch base with things and um I wore my Indiana Jones outfit for it. Where's your hat?
SPEAKER_00I know I'm missing a hat. I'm not I need a hat and your leather jacket.
SPEAKER_04We had a food show we were just at, and it was lame.
SPEAKER_00I could have worn my dad's old leather vest that he gave that cubby wears to take the recycling house. It's so small. I'm like, how did my dad fit in this?
SPEAKER_04But cubby literally puts it on to stay warm. Oh and I'm like, put a jacket on. That's cute.
SPEAKER_00But Nox wears it all the time. Because it's not than cubby. It's tiny. I'm like, how did an adult man fit in this thing? It was your dad's?
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Did you ask him? Do you ask him to try it on again? Oh, I forget.
SPEAKER_00Neil, can you put this on? He's really he's like small now. Yeah.
SPEAKER_04So well, maybe he always was he was a small guy.
SPEAKER_00He's like 160 pounds.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, he wasn't a big dude. I don't know why you act like he's this.
SPEAKER_00He's a pretty good sized man. He's not tall. No, not tall, but he was like pretty staunchy.
SPEAKER_03Where do you get your height from? Yeah, I don't know.
SPEAKER_00The Lord. The Lord blessed me. Okay, I have to say, I have no idea my dad's like 5'8 or 5'9 on a good day.
SPEAKER_02It's weird. Interesting.
SPEAKER_03Tell me about your nephew. Oh, I was gonna say my nephew when he was really little, he was um, I think in my dad's arms, and he's like, I want to be taller than you one day. And I am taller than both of his parents, and I was like, You better start praying now, boy. Really? So I hope that he does pass me, but I don't know if he will. Sometimes it skips around. So he's like at the point, like he's starting to creep up, but I don't know how much he's gonna Sawyer hit his growth spurt after basic training, and we were like, Did they stretch you out here?
SPEAKER_00He really grew a lot as junior year high school.
SPEAKER_04Like, even if he wasn't done though until after basic training.
SPEAKER_00But it was that was like his big stretch. Because right now, at his age, cubby is on pace with him, and cubby is not gonna be as tall as Sawyer. There's no way, but he was like the same as Sawyer. Yeah, it's it's genetically.
SPEAKER_03Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_00And then they constantly want to look to see how much they grew.
SPEAKER_04Like Nash will eat a burger or something.
SPEAKER_00And he'll go stand by the thing. Yeah, he'll be like, How much do I grow?
SPEAKER_04Or his broccoli, he'll choke it down. He's like, I'm like, yep, you're getting taller. Look at that.
SPEAKER_00We just lie to him.
SPEAKER_04Total lie.
SPEAKER_00He's not getting taller.
SPEAKER_04So, Kami, what should we what should we talk about? Like, what are things that you're thinking that the viewer, because you we don't really pay attention to any like yeah, comments at least like at least the comments on like you two or whatever.
SPEAKER_03Oh Lisa's really sweet. You mean Keith's wife? Did I say Lisa?
SPEAKER_00I think she meant to say at least.
SPEAKER_03Oh, sorry.
SPEAKER_02Which apparently I don't pay attention either. Lisa is thank you so much.
SPEAKER_00But Lisa is sweet. Yeah, Lisa is sweet.
SPEAKER_02Speaking of well, okay.
SPEAKER_00How have you this is gonna be fun?
SPEAKER_03Lisa is great looking forward to this. Yeah. How do you feel like it's been going? What's your favorite? I know, yeah. I I was looking for it. Yeah, but it's okay. You can blame Kayla. Okay.
SPEAKER_00I want to hear what your response is to that.
SPEAKER_03What yeah?
SPEAKER_00How do you think it's been going?
SPEAKER_04I and I I've said this, I've said this, I've said this a lot, and I I genuinely mean it. My um job here at the mill and my part is like marketing. And so I looked at a podcast as another marketing outlet and to tell stories, and I'm a storyteller. So like I know numbers are important, but like I feel like it's going well.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. I think for the amount of time that it's been on, it's been going very well just for that time period. Because I know people will say like a year to two years for it to really like kick off. Because it's like you need one episode, and because they're so long, it like Yeah, it's hard. Yeah, like so.
SPEAKER_04Do we shorten up episodes? And then who do we do that to? Who do we do that to? Would you like to do it to like episode? Hey, sorry, you're up. We're gonna make it short now, Jamie. Like we're only doing. Yeah, we're only doing 30-minute episodes, and then if it's like really good content, we have them back.
SPEAKER_03Maybe, but then 30 minutes seems too short. It's too short because especially with his crazy questions that he has to get out yet.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I feel like you don't get it, which is probably better than the actual meat and potatoes of it anyway.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I think people live for those little side comments. But somebody reached out and said that they watch it all the time because it seems like you're sitting with friends and like hearing the banter of friends.
SPEAKER_00So I hear you could actually sit right there or right there. And coming soon, yeah.
SPEAKER_04It will be, oh, we were gonna go live. Yeah, we should do that right now.
SPEAKER_00We'll go.
SPEAKER_04Oh, yeah. With us. I should put on my phone.
SPEAKER_00Oh, she's like she's like, oh wait.
SPEAKER_04Wait, what did I forget? Oh no, we we could no, when I could set up my phone right now. Yeah, I'm gonna do it. Just go. We don't have to stop anything. Yeah, no, this is gonna be organic as shut that out. Hold on, and that's it. Um, people might get mad though. We'll have to, it's okay. We'll just we'll just have a little snippet.
SPEAKER_00This is like a five-minute snippet.
SPEAKER_04So, what I've realized is as I work here, I see a lot of people. Um, and a lot of the feedback is good. And the people that watch, I'm like, really? I'm and I've told you that. Yeah, there's not one genre of type of people. I am talking grandmas that watch religiously that her her daughter had to help her figure it out.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, how to subscribe, yeah, and like so it's on the top of her.
SPEAKER_04And so it's like that to me, it's it's so rewarding. And I've said this and I I really mean it when people are like, Hey, um I I watch your episode, I'm like, I don't even know how to respond to that. It's such a compliment.
SPEAKER_00I'm I'm genuinely surprised and humbled.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, like it's well, it's been viewed over 4,000 times. So like at public, I mean hold on.
SPEAKER_04Okay, so I we're coming at you live.
SPEAKER_03You betcha.
SPEAKER_00Oh, hey.
SPEAKER_04Um, I was origin I was originally going to start this. I can't hear you with okay, yeah. Can they hear me? Okay, so we are doing uh beans and banter right now at the mill, and um we're recording. And originally our plan was because we have Cammy on. That's Cammy, that's our podcast girl, and that's Keith. We were gonna we were gonna stream live on our Facebook page during part of our episode today. So I'm gonna just gonna set you up. You're just gonna watch, and if you don't want to watch, you don't have to. Okay? Right? Yeah, right.
SPEAKER_00Is that how we're gonna do this? Okay. I think that's fair.
SPEAKER_04Let me figure out a way. Cammy, you're not Cammy, you're not working right now.
SPEAKER_00Look at look at tricks. Oh yeah. Oh, oh, oh did does Facebook not like that when you do that? Where do I set this? Not just on me. Nobody wants to see me.
SPEAKER_03What if you put it by um like by the the drink thing?
SPEAKER_00Or hang it on the hang it on the fence. Hang it on the fence, hang it on the fence.
SPEAKER_03Will it stay or will it flip off? Yeah, she's got a thing on it.
SPEAKER_00Oh, we just didn't got tricks in it. Oh no. The prettiest gal in all the land needs to be on it. You're gonna have to scooch in real close.
SPEAKER_04Maybe watch out for my coffee. That's all. Um, you can scoot over. I'm just gonna scoot right past your rope finding. Just for this cool. Just for this. I don't want to get too comfy doing this every time because I don't like you don't like being next to me. Okay, so I don't know if you guys are watching, but this is this'll just be a little different.
SPEAKER_03Just good.
SPEAKER_00Just a quick little snippet.
SPEAKER_03I'm pulling it up on my phone so I can see what they're seeing.
SPEAKER_04If people are trash talking us, yeah, we'll just shut it off. We can't hear or see what you're commenting.
SPEAKER_03Well, we might soon. This is lame.
SPEAKER_04This is so lame.
SPEAKER_00Hey, it was a great idea, though. It was a great idea. I like I like the idea.
SPEAKER_03Well, that's what we were gonna do, right? I think this works for this. Yeah, ultra. This is episode 21. Okay, 21. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Um, this is so we were Cammy asked what our expectations of having a podcast would be like, or like how it's going, or like what we thought it would be. And to be honest, I didn't really have any expectations, or I didn't know, but I wanted to hear Trixie's response, and maybe it's kind of repetitive for the people listening at home already. But Cameo, Cameo edit that out.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, Cameo will edit it out. Yeah. Um, so for if you haven't caught up, if you're watching the podcast right now, we went live on our Facebook page to show what it behind the scenes.
SPEAKER_00I think everybody watched that.
SPEAKER_04To show the behind the scenes of hope it makes the cut. Making whatever. So, how do I feel our podcast is going? I'm not a big numbers girl, as you know. Um, but I like the feedback. I get a lot of feedback. Um, I've only had positive feedback. I don't I think it'd be kind of bold to come up to me and say they hate it.
SPEAKER_00I mean, I tried it for 10 minutes and I was like, please.
SPEAKER_04Um I think our I think our worst one was probably a political figure. Yeah, that was the only negative comment we've gotten. And we kind of were worried about that, but we did we didn't want it to be one side political. We did reach out to the other side, but they didn't get back to us. So oh really? We tried. Yeah, we tried. We try to be neutral, right?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, um, there's nothing wrong with hearing both sides of the story, and and he didn't he wasn't even really super political.
SPEAKER_03No, um uh Corinne says that she can hear Corinne Salerno Phillips.
SPEAKER_04Oh thank you, Corinne Corinne.
SPEAKER_00Thanks for thanks for the feedback for stopping by and watching it unfold. Okay, I think we have to have you sign something now for saying your name.
SPEAKER_04Probably. Oh shoot, crap. We'll bleep it out. Bleep. We'll just say Corinne Salerno, she won't care. She'll take one for the team. She's teaching right now. She better let you watch it. She's very Italian.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah. They're a lot of fun.
SPEAKER_04Um, her husband talk like them. Okay.
SPEAKER_00Their son's name is Cooper. Oh, that's how it's like.
SPEAKER_04And it's Sawyer is one of Sawyer's best friends.
SPEAKER_00And he always says Cooper, Cooper.
SPEAKER_04They're from the East Coast too.
SPEAKER_03Oh, that's amazing.
SPEAKER_04It's so it's like Italian slash East Coast accent.
SPEAKER_00Oh man, it's like a sprinkle of Midwest. I can't even do it justice of how good it sounds. Um I'm like I don't know how to say this. Like, I'm very grateful, and it's amazes me with how often we hear good things about our episodes, and we're just so grateful for you all listening and watching and and for it's super fun, and Cami makes it a really good time.
SPEAKER_04Like, yeah, if you guys are looking for somebody, oh like if you were like not fun to be around, it we're like just a bad person. Yeah, but I told you how many times can I tell you it would how many times did I tell you that I liked her?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and I that was a total leap of faith.
SPEAKER_03But I mean she had no clue what you were or didn't watch. Have you watched any of my stuff yet?
SPEAKER_00No, no, just ours.
SPEAKER_03Just stars.
SPEAKER_00She actually never sent it to me. And so she said she was gonna and she never did.
SPEAKER_04And some days he doesn't even watch our stuff. Oh, what happened? Oh, yeah, forgot about that. Oh, funny.
SPEAKER_00Um, that's fair.
SPEAKER_03It is hard to go back and watch yourself over and over and over.
SPEAKER_00I could listen, I could listen to it, but I feel like it's not as good as watching it, and I don't have a lot of time to watch stuff.
SPEAKER_04I usually watch when I'm getting ready in the morning. Oh, nice. Yeah, is what I'll do. I'm already or in the pickup line.
SPEAKER_00Getting yelled at when I take a 30-second shower. What's taking so long?
SPEAKER_03I am okay. That should be a reel of you in the the in the shower. Nobody wants to see. No, in the checkout line, and just like so distracted because you're listening to the podcast.
SPEAKER_04The pickup, I used to fall before my iron infusion. I know we don't want to talk about myself in my house. Oh, we do.
unknownStop.
SPEAKER_04The women want to hear it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it's good.
SPEAKER_04You know how much I let him hear that all day. All day.
SPEAKER_00Oh, yeah. I heard I'm I actually heard about it yesterday again.
SPEAKER_04We all felt asleep.
SPEAKER_00People don't forget.
SPEAKER_04But anyways, I used to fall asleep in the pickup line. Seriously? And the the principal would rap on the window, and I'm like, oh shoot. But yeah, interesting.
SPEAKER_00Now she's now she's got all this energy.
SPEAKER_04Let's talk.
SPEAKER_00Now that her irons are good.
SPEAKER_04Things that I um don't like about the podcast. I know I don't like to talk about negative things. No, that's good. But I don't like polished. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_04And in general. In general, I'm not a polished person. Like, I don't like perfect from our guests.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Or from us as like, well, we can't be polished.
SPEAKER_04We're too um, but there are things we could do. We do ask her to cut out. You know what I mean? Like maybe there really hasn't been a lot from you guys, though. I think we know.
SPEAKER_00Maybe in the beginning, just because it was stupid.
SPEAKER_04Like, yeah, I mean, there was like that whole episode you didn't watch.
SPEAKER_00Where it was just that was a test, which was fair, but it was all tricksy and none of me. Like if it makes sense.
SPEAKER_02What?
SPEAKER_00Like it was I was just terrible. Oh, I thought you meant and then I had to step my game up and get better with alien questions.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Um, I think uh yeah, like from guests, like the polished, like I like to just talk and keep it real.
SPEAKER_04And like um, and I get it, like we have to have an agenda, like some yeah. There's but also like people want to hear the like the at least I do when I'm listening to a podcast. I'm like, tell me the real stuff. Tell me the truth. Yeah, tell me about that, and tell me the ugly about it. Like, I want to know the hard of the good.
SPEAKER_03I think that's why there's some people we need to bring back to try and pull that out of them.
SPEAKER_04Oh, yeah, we have such and and a lot of the guests will say that, like, oh, next time I'm gonna talk more about this.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. So I think because it is, it's like the first time you have, which granted, I think once you start talking, this disappears. But at first, you're like so under the spotlight that you don't and then too, it's like the internet is brutal. Like people are mean people are so mean, which I think that's where I'm surprised that there really hasn't been much negative, and even the negative comment wasn't that bad. It was like uh, yeah.
SPEAKER_04And it was a political thing, yeah.
SPEAKER_00That's probably the scariest part is just being vulnerable.
SPEAKER_04I take that stuff personal for everybody. And that's why I don't even look at my Google.
SPEAKER_00Like like you take it very personally.
SPEAKER_04I take it very personal, like burn a house down personal.
SPEAKER_00And you're gonna check your watch right now.
SPEAKER_04It's Carney calling. Um, my answer it. Where's my phone?
SPEAKER_00It's it's recording us right now. Carney, she'll call you back.
SPEAKER_04Carney, I'll call you back. Yeah, I can't pick up. Sorry, I was looking for my phone, it's hanging up. Oh, Lanta. This is my life.
SPEAKER_00I had to call him life with Trixie.
SPEAKER_04I had to call him. He's a copper in Shano. Okay. He was my partner. And Journey went to sign some paperwork today.
SPEAKER_00She was in an accident.
SPEAKER_04She was in an accident, and she's like, whoever was working there was so rude to her. And like, oh I know Journey, and like she she was telling the truth. And I'm like, so I called Carney. I'm like, who's this jerk that was working? Is that him calling to tell you?
SPEAKER_00Probably. I didn't, I didn't know. She left a really funny message.
SPEAKER_04I left a super funny message. Like, not appropriate for me to repeat right now, but I'm like, hey, can you do me a favor? And I'm happy I'm recording. I'm like, I'm happy you didn't pick up so you can let her listen to this. Okay. The next time you want to be mean to my kid. But it was like to be funny when she's coming in. Oh, all right.
SPEAKER_00Well, maybe we should tell the viewers where how long are we gonna keep that going?
SPEAKER_04I don't know. For a little bit yet.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_04There's like nine people watching. Oh, nine.
SPEAKER_00Everybody's like heck.
SPEAKER_04No one has time for that stuff.
SPEAKER_00Nobody's got time for lives. Um just give it time. What were we?
SPEAKER_04We were going down a path about how being vulnerable. Oh, Google reviews.
SPEAKER_00Google reviews, bad reviews, yep.
SPEAKER_04Do you get a lot of bad reviews? So I got like last night, I was laying in bed and I had an email from someone, and it was like, but I wish, hi Jamie. I wish people would. This is my thoughts on reviews. This let's let's talk about it. Okay. Tell us when you're here. Yeah, don't review or send me an email later. Yes. If you have enough balls to either write a review or to email me, go up to and say, hey, listen.
SPEAKER_00And fix the problem right away.
SPEAKER_04So we can because we'll fix it. But we'll fix it.
SPEAKER_00It's so much harder to fix it a week or two after.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, because then I have to look back who was working and who was the person.
SPEAKER_00And I still don't know who was you know making the drink.
SPEAKER_04We want to we wanna fix it. We do. Um, but there was uh I had an email, it wasn't a review, so I'm happy. Like, don't get me wrong, please.
SPEAKER_00That's the better way to approach it.
SPEAKER_04It's a better way to approach it is to email or message us instead of like, I'm gonna do a Google review about it. And blast them. Um, we don't get a lot of bad. We don't.
SPEAKER_00Um, but it greatly affects your business.
SPEAKER_04It does.
SPEAKER_00It really does.
SPEAKER_04But it was something something that shouldn't have happened. It was minor, but shouldn't have happened. But like that would have been an easy fix. Like, hey, you know what? My drink was four drinks ahead of her theirs, but you didn't want to make it because it was a blended Oreo shape.
SPEAKER_02Speaking of.
SPEAKER_00And maybe it was something to do with like logistic. Dirty, dirty blender. Like they were in the washer or whatever. That happens.
SPEAKER_04And that's what I started emailing her back. And I said, and I stopped because I'm like, I have to think about how to word this because like she's not wrong.
SPEAKER_01She's not wrong.
SPEAKER_04She and it wasn't right if someone passed your drink up and put made four before yours. But I also know what it's like when they're work busy and there's dirty blenders, dirty, all the stuff to make it.
SPEAKER_03Um I do get a lot of positive reviews because I feel like people okay all the time. That is good because I feel like people will more so take the time to write something negative than positive. So honestly, we do for you guys.
SPEAKER_04Yes, we do. We are good always. We have the best customers. We and I say that, and I don't just say that if it okay, this is getting ridiculous.
SPEAKER_00This is why this is why we got in trouble is all the blended drinks. Yeah.
SPEAKER_04But um, um, and I I I don't just I don't just say that. Like I mean it. Like our customers are pretty amazing, and we get a lot of good feedback. Yeah, way more than bad. Way more. I wouldn't be able to I don't think I'd be able to do this if it was the other way around. Dragging me down, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Because it's so just the few that you get like ruin your week.
SPEAKER_04I will kick a dog.
SPEAKER_03I won't I won't do that ever. Which one, which dog don't you like as much? I like them all.
SPEAKER_00Okay, she loves all dogs. Did you say kid or dog? Because kid, there's who is the favorite kid this week?
SPEAKER_04Cubby.
SPEAKER_00Cubby, probably.
SPEAKER_04He's such a humble kid. He's such a good kid. Um I did a post about him and he pitched his first high school baseball game. Yeah, and it was like his coach didn't even know he wanted to pitch. And it's just it's like a testament of what type of kid he is. He will do whatever you tell him, and he's just like a yes sir type of kid. But then I'm like, are we hurting him by doing that? Like, is he missing opportunity by being like, okay?
SPEAKER_00No, that's better for him in the long run. Yeah, he'll he'll make his own, he'll make his own way in life and be just fine.
SPEAKER_04So cubbies, I always like cubby during baseball season the best. Cute. Well, because that's his favorite sport.
SPEAKER_00Whatever sport he's playing in at the time, okay, is his favorite. So what else? Said on the way home. On the way home, he's like, I don't even I don't even think about video games anymore. I just want to play baseball. Which is good.
SPEAKER_03Well, that's a good thing. Wow, it's good.
SPEAKER_00That's huge.
SPEAKER_03It does make me happy when I see kids playing outside. I know. Don't you feel old? Yes. You feel old when you're gonna do it. It is like where it's because it's rare, I think.
SPEAKER_04Well, today's blackout Tuesday. This uh Bonda Well school is doing so like no electronics today. Oh, that's cool.
SPEAKER_00They're playing board games and doing fun stuff together.
SPEAKER_04Nash, should we talk about how he tried zipping his Monopoly game in the backpack? We're like, that's not gonna zip.
SPEAKER_00You're gonna break your zipper.
SPEAKER_04And he was like bending it, and we're like, just stop.
SPEAKER_00He's so excited to bring that game though. He was talking about it for like a solid week. That's cute. Bringing Wisconsinopoly precious to school. What do you think? What are your what are your yeah, what are your thoughts? What are your what's your feelings? You're the pro, you're the LA girl. What did you anticipate? First, I want to I want to hear what your thoughts are on what you thought this was gonna be like with us, and then um like the podcast, how like yeah.
SPEAKER_03What did you think it was gonna be like to work for us? I knew it would be fun to work with you guys.
SPEAKER_00Oh I think is a better way to do I'm the jerk.
SPEAKER_03Um but I knew it would be fun to work with you guys, and honestly, I think because of what you've already established and just your um the stories that have were already in place, I had a feeling that it would do well. Um, and I still know that it's like growing every single week, um, which is exciting. I think if there's a week where we don't get a new subscriber, I'll probably get a little nervous. But every time we do get new subscribers, so that's oh that's good. Yeah, yeah, um, and more views because again, it's like it's a commitment to watch it for that long.
SPEAKER_00It is, it is, and that's why part of the reason why like we feel so honored that people watch it, like it's cool.
SPEAKER_04I'm like, you really watch the whole thing. Well, you guys are entertaining too. Well, not our our guests aren't. Just kidding. I'm kidding. It's a joke, it's a joke to all the guests out there. I mean, you guys are entertaining.
SPEAKER_00I mean, I'd pay, I'd pay to watch her every day.
SPEAKER_04Whatever.
SPEAKER_00I could.
SPEAKER_04In a sense, you do.
SPEAKER_00I mean, I mean deal with a lot of my parents. I pay with tears and bruises. Just kidding. People don't like TV jokes. That's not cool.
SPEAKER_03No, um, but yeah, no, I think it's a lot of fun. And two, I think people feel like they're a part of a community. Um, because I think even when I first came in here, I would like see some people that you had posted about, and I was like, oh, like yes, that's cool. Um, so I think it just brings people together, what you guys have here. And this like expands it outward too.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I think so too.
SPEAKER_03I have a side question, and I don't know if you want to talk about it, but can you talk about your um the tests? Because I've been curious. The um kidney? Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Oh, um, so as of right now, everything was approved. Oh, seriously, they knew so it was different with when I went through the liver.
SPEAKER_00We still have to wait until next team Thursday.
SPEAKER_04Yep, I was gonna get to that. I'm sorry. That's okay. I'll let you say that.
SPEAKER_00So, like, it's not for sure, for sure. Yeah, but like but it looks good.
SPEAKER_04So, like when I went through the liver, it was like so many unknowns. Why are you smiling like that? Uh, he did say something sweet there. Um, he kind of rebutted from like his jerky comment from the last episode. Okay, I'll tell you.
SPEAKER_00That was funny, but it wasn't jerky.
SPEAKER_04So, like, every so like the surgeon came in and doctor and nurse, and they're all like, Yeah, everything looks great. I actually have a very strong kidney function.
SPEAKER_00She's it's so funny to watch her at these things. She takes it like she's at the Olympics. I'm like, she's still competitive with like how much pea she brings in. Like, I mean I she talked about it the whole way because I thought I didn't have enough.
SPEAKER_04And they're like, Oh my god, you have too much.
SPEAKER_00You have a lot of pee.
SPEAKER_04I'm like, really? I was dehydrated yesterday.
SPEAKER_00I'm like, why are you so competitive?
SPEAKER_04Do you drink water a lot? All the time. She does drink a lot.
SPEAKER_00She's very hydrated.
SPEAKER_04But like the day, so the day before they make you they collect your urine. So it's like two orange jugs, biohazard jugs. Good lord. And you have to pee in this like hat. And I was so like a pee, a hat that catches not like a not like a hat, funnel, like a so you can pour it in there. But I I was here to that day, so I didn't want to be like bringing a box of urine in the bathroom, right? And I was so busy I didn't have time to drink water, and so I was like, She was talking about it. I'm like, I I'm dehydrated, and they're like, girl, you brought in the kidney. You're doing great. I'm like, really? But they said my um kidney functions very, very, very high. Okay, it's good. So why do you want to donate a kidney one time? No, no, maybe, maybe.
SPEAKER_00Um, I don't know. I think I'd be up, I'd be up for it. You've inspired me. We've talked enough about it. Like, why not? I said we got two of them.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, we don't really need them. And then when you you're sitting in the room waiting for like the next doctor to come in to review stuff, you look outside and you can see these patients with their IV bags, and then you're like, How can't you donate? Yeah, right. When you looked outside and the sick people was a nice day, yeah, and it makes you like, that's why I'm here.
SPEAKER_03Like, so is really the only long term on your end, like that you're just gonna have to pee more.
SPEAKER_04I don't even think that's the truth, really.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah. I don't think tell me that there's nothing.
SPEAKER_04The only thing is, I mean, there might be unseen things that they don't know, right?
SPEAKER_00I think it's a little easier to become high dehydrated.
SPEAKER_04Mm-hmm. Because they'd say drink more water. Okay.
SPEAKER_00But really, less alcohol, more water.
SPEAKER_04There's no issue.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, there's not after there shouldn't be.
SPEAKER_04Well, that's cool.
SPEAKER_00Well, back to what you were saying about how sweet I was.
SPEAKER_04So the one of the one of the nurses, one of the nurses asked, um, or was a doctor. It was the surgeon. She's like, How do you feel about this? And he goes, It was sweet. What did you say? I want I want you to say sweet enough to remember. I want I want remembers every word. I want you to say it.
SPEAKER_00Uh, well, I just like had this moment. I was sitting there watching you, and they're like asking a ton of questions. And it was and I really do mean that, by the way. Like, I fall in love with her more every day. And it's just another reason to love her even more, is just how giving she is, and how like um like that's a big that's it's a big thing. I know she tries to downplay it and be like, everybody should do it, everyone should do it, but everybody doesn't do it, and there's a reason why, and it's um because people are scared or whatever, and she's just fearless in that sense, and I just love it.
SPEAKER_04I feel like it's really sweet. Like, I totally gave well, first off, I am giving, but I will not share my dessert.
SPEAKER_00I will share a kidney, but I will if it's the line of sugar if it's so well when you're full, you will you'll be able to do it.
SPEAKER_04Sometimes but carrot cake, no, I'm taking that home. Taking that home. Um, but I totally gave this situation 100% to God. And I know I like I'm not trying to sound cheesy when I say that. I did like from with when I said I couldn't with Andy, and I'm like, okay, if you help my friend Andy, God, I will pay it forward with whatever way you want me to. And then this girl that we went to school with, and I saw that, and I like reached out to our um coordinator, and I'm like, how what's the process like if I want to get my liver or sorry, kidney tested? If I just did the liver testing, he was it's gonna be a lot easier because we can use a lot of the same testing. Obviously, we're gonna have to focus on kidney and stuff. So it was only one day of testing.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it was still a whole day.
SPEAKER_04And then so I was having I was having like selfish doubts the day uh one day. Listen, one day I was like, you know what I mean? Like, well, when is the surgery gonna be? How much am I gonna have to be off? I just had a hysterectomy in January. It's baseball season, it's our busy season. Mills get mill, the mill gets crazy now. You know what I mean? Like, I don't have time to be off. Like, I'm gonna have to be here. And I was telling Keith, I'm like, I don't know if I like really want to like I want to help her, but like I don't know if it's good timing right now. Okay, listen, 10 minutes later, I'm here at the mill. I'm over by the ice machine. Guy comes in. Are you Nicole, right? He's like, I haven't officially met you, but I've been following your page. I'm like, Yeah, he goes, Eyes filled with tears. He goes, I just had a kidney donation last Monday, and I wanted to tell you that Andy story inspired me of the good people in the world. And I'm like, and I looked up at God and I'm like, all right, I hear you. Like that was my sign. Like my appointment was already scheduled, and I was having like selfish doubts. You know what I mean? Like, yeah, and it's not selfish because it's your life, right? It is your life, but I'm like, these are minor things, and I'm like, I don't want to have a suju, you know what I mean? And meanwhile, she's like in renal failure, you know, like and then when you're in line at the organ thing, you see all the sick people, right? You look around and you're like, oh my God. Wow. And then being blessed, like when I sat down with him, and it's like I felt like God made it a slow day at the mail. So I would sit and talk to him and his wife for 45 minutes and hear and all I asked him, and like this is the most touching, and I I know I posted about it, but like I said, what are you gonna do different now? Like that you're healthy because he's been sick his whole life, because he was okay, had childhood diabetes, and he's like, I'm gonna go for a walk today. And it wasn't like a stage, it was like he was looking outside. It was a beautiful day. He's like, and and his wife like was just filled with tears. She's like, I he never has energy to walk. So, like I said to Keith, I'm like, like, we complain about parking, you know what I mean? Like, well, we were just joking about that. We were just joking about it. I'm like, Oh, I have to park so far away because I have to walk. I'm like, we can walk, we have the energy to walk, and like and everybody I think needs to be checked. Yeah, every including uh us. Like, I'm not above that. I get in those moods and I'm like complaining and like poor me and I have a headache, and you know, but then when you actually are around legit sick people, you realize how healthy you are. Yeah, and I'm not a great person, I have a lot of flaws, and I'm like, if this is one good thing I can do, maybe God will let me in. Maybe he'll let me know. I know I get you really into that's not how it works.
SPEAKER_00There's no score.
SPEAKER_04I I really feel like if you can, you should try to look into it. Right?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, and I didn't plan on this conversation, but yeah, well, yeah, I wanted to ask because I know you've been posted or like yeah, you've been hinting about it. It looks good though, it looks good, yeah. Okay, so then how fast like your friend is like needs one right now, like immediately, or she said her um, I don't know all I'm learning a lot about kidneys now.
SPEAKER_04I know a lot about liver. Okay. Um, but I'm a doctor. I'm gonna be a doctor. Um, but I ran rampant.
SPEAKER_00Taught by the Institute of TikTok.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. Her numbers are declining. Okay. So this is gonna be her second kidney donation. Though she had one 10 years ago.
SPEAKER_00Oh, okay. And there's some factors there because there's fr from what I gathered from my day of being there in Madison. This is what I know. Now that's probably some bullshit. I'm gonna have to edit out because I'm wrong.
SPEAKER_03But um just like our last episode because of the saran wrapping his liver. I am gonna put a disclaimer on that.
SPEAKER_04So this is the UW Health medical professionals are like, oh my gosh, that did not happen. Do not put our name behind that.
SPEAKER_00What it what do they call that program where they share them?
SPEAKER_04Oh, the um voucher.
SPEAKER_00The voucher program. Oh, yeah. So, like there could be some factors that maybe don't quite coincide or jive with with um Nike, her name, Nike. But uh, if they take it and give it to somebody else, then she'll get one from somebody else, like top of the list.
SPEAKER_04The voucher program's amazing. That is, and then yeah, so like um, example, when I was looking at my test results, I'm like, what is this disease I have? It was like off the charts. I'm like, I have some disease. Too much urine. No, yeah, overactive kidneys. Oh no. Um, and it was I had mono, and I never knew I had mono. But so like diseases like that, so they don't want to introduce to a sick patient, like let's say Nike. She's never had mono now. No, I did. Oh, but it never goes away. It's like in yeah, just like chicken pox. So stuff like that. They don't want to introduce new yeah, disease. I don't know what do you call that? Yeah, like antibodies, antibodies to a sick person that I don't know if she I don't understand the science of it, but um, Nike was kind of explaining that to me. Um that cool name.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I've always liked her name. Yeah, that's cool. I had another question. This is going in a different direction. Yeah, let's go. Let's skip this one. This is boring. No, this is great. I feel like I learned so much even from Andy's episode. Like the whole voucher program thing, I think is really cool. So um yeah. Uh okay. So the Mills Closet. Yeah how did you come up with the video ideas that you do every week? Like, where did that start?
SPEAKER_04Oh, like I'm looking for something at so that was a TikTok trend. Okay. And they it started at just being um like at home goods stores or TJ Maxx, like when they have off the walls, did that a few times when they were like shopping at Hobby Lobby, right?
SPEAKER_00Or whatever. Right. So we now it's just we just continued okay, because it's like it's so boring.
SPEAKER_04How do you show the clothes you have every time? Like, oh, I mean, it doesn't have to be boring, right? Because the clothes are new, yeah.
SPEAKER_00But it's fun.
SPEAKER_04But I mean, we're gonna keep doing it until people tell us. One lady told me to stop. One lady from Florida said I needed to grow up. Well, she can stay in Florida. Oh my god. Like, stay in Florida.
SPEAKER_00Never, we will never grow up.
SPEAKER_04She had a really nasty message. I'm like, well, that was mean. Um, thank you.
SPEAKER_02It's way more fun with you know, this way, yeah, the way that you are trying.
SPEAKER_00Trying, I'm just digging a hole.
SPEAKER_04Oh, you're sweet.
SPEAKER_03Here's the sweetest. Okay. Okay, going in a different direction, but kind of the same theme. How did you like have you just been figuring out with the marketing thing, or did you kind of know what would work for the mill to begin with?
SPEAKER_00Let me let me answer that for you.
SPEAKER_03Okay, I don't know the answer. So go ahead.
SPEAKER_00Because I feel like it's like her writing style, number one, and like her ability to tell stories and like the way that she tells stories. I think it's it's definitely evolved a little bit, but it's always been her that's her way. Like that's just how he how she she writes. I identify as a girl, and then um I think I think she's uh like tried a few things a few different ways, and she's very like in tune with people, yeah. So like so, like she'll she can I feel like she can feel what people are feeling through social media. If that's sounds crazy, like it sounds a little crazy, but she does. I'm psychic.
SPEAKER_02She puts her hand on the phone.
SPEAKER_00That's it.
SPEAKER_04Today I'm gonna post more food content.
SPEAKER_00And then um, right? Wouldn't you say like 100%?
SPEAKER_04And I'll say that energies off today.
SPEAKER_03Not to sound like witchy, but I'll like but what if it's just like like you just have a discernment on what's going on in the internet? Like a wisdom, internet wisdom.
SPEAKER_00That's definitely that's part of it, and like it, like anything else, the more you do something, the better you get at it.
SPEAKER_04I have to just hand it to the Facebook, our Facebook fans though, that they are not very mean to me with my terrible grammar. And when I like don't proofread and I just hit post, and then Keith's like, whoa, she'll send me a text immediately.
SPEAKER_00You proofread fast before people see it.
SPEAKER_04And people already see it. Yeah, but like they're not mean to me about it.
SPEAKER_00Oh, which I mean you get a few messages here or there.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, one lady sent me a message.
SPEAKER_00I like your content a lot better if it was yeah, grammatically correct. I'm like spelling was better.
SPEAKER_04I'm not that's is that the Florida lady? Nope, different one. This lady was a lot nicer about it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, she was nice about it.
SPEAKER_04She was nice, and then she's like, Oh, look at all my grammar errors in my curl. I didn't catch it.
SPEAKER_00Like, I want to say, do you know how fast this head spinning?
SPEAKER_04And that and that is that is it.
SPEAKER_00It's like usually and on top of it's Facebook. I don't know if you've ever posted anything on there before, but it is wild, it has a mind of its own.
SPEAKER_04It does, it'll start typing or like audio.
SPEAKER_00And that's not even close to the code. So I research that.
SPEAKER_04I research that, and it's usually if you copy and paste or like have a link in it, it it does something with Facebook that they're it messes up, like it'll start typing things for you. Oh, um, weird, and I've noticed that. So if I'm adding a link in something, or if I started a post and I'm like copying it and pasting it from notes, then I'll notice like the rest of mine. I'm like, what is happening? Facebook is writing crazy stuff, and it's not just me. This is Googleable, it's not me making it up because I'm dumb. Like it's it's true, but um marketing, yeah. I feel this is what my opinion is with marketing is that I always think what is gonna make me want to buy that from you. Yeah. And then if you put a story behind it, I'm like, I want to buy that from you, like because I like your story. Um, and and you made a good point, Cammy. Is I said, why when I spend so much time on a reel, like work really hard at it, I get like two, yeah, not two, but like hardly any likes. And then if I do like a crappy one, not a crappy, but like my style.
SPEAKER_01That's it.
SPEAKER_04Not polished, not polished in you said because it's already our brand. Like you're switching the brand up, and then people probably don't even recognize it's like the Mills post. They probably think somebody else did it, honestly. Probably.
SPEAKER_00I would say that 95% of the stuff, aside from like your drink and food specials that you post every day. Yeah, I'd say 95% of the things that she posts about are not related at all to what we sell.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00And um, that just that's just her. Like she was doing this before we were open. And she was doing this in a sense on her own personal Facebook, like with our family. Yeah, yeah. That's just how she writes, that's just who she is. So that's her marketing style. It's her yeah.
SPEAKER_04I don't think it's teachable. I think it's just like in you, and it just to see it.
SPEAKER_00I think anyone could do it, but it's like I think people can try to copy it, but it's not quite the same.
SPEAKER_04I'll have messages from people Hi Journey. Sorry you got yelled at at the Shano, please don't. Sorry, they were mean to you.
SPEAKER_00Um that's life.
SPEAKER_04Go to school. Um I'll have people that are like uh I'm not gonna go there. Yeah, just okay. Anything else?
SPEAKER_02What are we at?
SPEAKER_03This isn't like 47 minutes. Although I think we had a few. Our beautiful guest is isn't she just pretty?
SPEAKER_04She just looks like I just love her. I I you're gonna love her by the way.
SPEAKER_00I like how quiet you were trying to be walking up the stairs, just like so gingerly. I'm just gonna go. Like it's Christmas morning. I'm gonna sneak down and look at the tree. I was calling.
SPEAKER_04Oh, it's Sawyer. He's walking home from class. He usually calls me. Oh, that's cute. Precious. Okay, so what else do we want to tell the people today?
SPEAKER_00Were there any other questions that people asked? Yeah, that you think you remember?
SPEAKER_03Um well, Chelsea says hi. Hi, Chelsea.
SPEAKER_00Hey girl.
SPEAKER_03Jody says, look at you guys. Um no, I think it's been I feel like this is it's going in the right direction, and I'm excited. I'm excited to pay you more.
SPEAKER_00If anything else, and I've I've said this like from the beginning, it's fun. You're fun. I if nothing else, I get to spend another hour out of my day with Trixie, and like we just get to talk to each other.
SPEAKER_04And sometimes it's not a great experience, like last episode, but most we have a great time.
SPEAKER_00Let it go. What what would that book say that you're reading or listening to? Let them, let them, just let me be funny.
SPEAKER_04Oh, Mel Rob.
SPEAKER_00It's a good time.
SPEAKER_04I don't like that she calls herself Mel. Why? I don't know.
SPEAKER_00She gets hung up on weird things.
SPEAKER_03Like she's reading a whole page. She has to reread it because it's like, why is her name Mel?
SPEAKER_00Yes, and then she talks about it. This is at least the third time that I've heard it.
SPEAKER_03At least that's why I looked at it. So is it short for like Melanie?
SPEAKER_04Melanie. Oh, I think you had an ex-girlfriend named Melanie, didn't you? That's probably that's why I don't like it.
SPEAKER_03Is it from seventh grade or was it from no? It was pretty fresh.
SPEAKER_04Oh my god.
SPEAKER_00Let them trixie.
SPEAKER_04Hey, Mel.
SPEAKER_00Oh boy.
SPEAKER_03Are you having are you are you having fun with all this? I do you like when I jump into the podcast?
SPEAKER_04I love it. I love it because I you we were he's a little ADD too. Sure. And me, and then some of our guests are worse. So it's good that you kind of were like, okay, and then you're almost like the listener at the time. Yeah. So you're able to be like, let's circle back, talk about that. Because I listen to podcasts, and sometimes I'm like, wait, I want to know more about that.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_04You know, and so I love that you do that. And then and you're part of our team. It is fun. I like it. Yeah. And I'm happy that we like you, and I'm happy you weren't weird or like smelling. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Because I didn't know what we were gonna get.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. I you're like California. I'm like, oh.
SPEAKER_03I will say when I was early college, I did try to gauge my ears and then I stopped. And I'm really glad that I did. So you weren't too far off. See, that's a she was weird for about a year there. It was bad.
SPEAKER_04You're finding yourself. It's okay.
SPEAKER_00We all go through phases.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I pierced my nose three times, and every time it gets infected. Oh, really?
SPEAKER_03Well, I like I I've had mine since college. That's probably the I love nose pier.
SPEAKER_04I love nose rings.
SPEAKER_03I think they're so cute. But I can't, my like I get that. Did you get like the the yeah? I had it for a little bit, but then it like went away.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, sometimes I'll put a fake one when I want to feel like fancy.
SPEAKER_03Fancy. Yeah, like a little badass. Uh is there a guest that you like immediately want to bring back?
SPEAKER_00Tony.
SPEAKER_03Oh, yeah. Tony, because he just a fun dog.
SPEAKER_04He's unhinged. Yeah. And and this is my thought. Like, we have to be careful because we're in a world that people are easily offended, right? Yes. But he has a good way of not offending people. Yeah. And still being like, whoa, right? Yeah. I don't like po I don't want, I I don't want to say I don't like polish because I understand like why people have to be polished, but I I like authentic.
SPEAKER_00And he's a real dude.
SPEAKER_04Like you're what you see is what you get. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00That's him also.
SPEAKER_04But also, Pastor Sorley, I think we could dig more into him. Yeah. And we get a I get a lot. So I had a lady come in and she said, What church do you go to? And I told her, and she's like, I want to go just to hear him. So I want to go just to hear him. But then, like, my sister, who's not a cop, wanted to hear more from Mike Saucy. It's just weird. Yeah. I'm like, you're not even a cop. Yeah. She's like, maybe Keith should talk to Mike Saucy when I said Keith's stressed.
SPEAKER_03I feel like Mike has like a presence to him. Like you immediately just want to be like, I don't want to be on your bad side. Like, I respect for his what he did.
SPEAKER_04He's kind of a badass in his career. Um, and he has this like his eyes you kind of get lost in, not in a like romantic way. I don't want to sound like romantically perverted, but like there's something about his eyes that you're like, Don't worry, if anybody's dating him, it's gonna be me.
SPEAKER_00We got a lot of similarities. We were talking about car parts soon after that. So things are getting pretty serious.
SPEAKER_04So I think I think with he has like this, I don't know, like something about like wise soul to him. Yeah. That you're kind of like, what do you want me to do? You want me to tell you where I murdered that person? You know what I mean? Here's the whip. Here's the weapon. Um, let's talk. Sorry. Um Casey's. So let's talk about each of our our guests before we close. Yeah. Casey's was hilarious.
SPEAKER_00Oh my gosh, yes. Like such like you ever walk into the shop and you're like, whoa, it's got a lot going on. I just went there the other day and there's just stuff like everywhere.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, it's it's like his brain. Yeah, okay.
SPEAKER_00And but then he's just like calm.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, yeah. What do you need? Yeah, chill. And then but you don't know what he's gonna say. Yeah, I think.
SPEAKER_00And then he just says some wild shit. Like I have a friend that he's like Wisconsin's the Ovan.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I have a friend that she's gonna come on, she's a teacher, so she has to wait for summer break. And when I say she's a teacher, you're gonna be like, no way. Because she was a cop with me in Wapaca County. Okay, and the way I introduced her to Bill, I said, So you are always worried about what I'm gonna say. Like Bill, one of the deputies was always like, Oh boy, she's 10 times worse. Like, what you're always like, what did you just say? Oh but she's a hoot, she's funny, she has some trauma. She lost her sister to suicide. Oh her mom like died within that year. Like, oh my gosh, like tragically, like she and she's such a happy, good person. So I'm excited to have Juliana.
