The First Stitch: Every Quilter Has a Story
Discover the shared experiences that connect all quilters. The First Stitch is the podcast dedicated to celebrating the journeys of the craft's most passionate members: YOU! Host Lisa Donnelly of Wild Plum Lane brings you short, impactful episodes that prove we are all more alike than we are different, no matter where or when we picked up our first set of needle and thread.
Every week, you'll hear:
-A Quilter’s Story: Hear the unique, personal accounts of how quilters began to quilt, overcome creative blocks, and found purpose in piecing. These are your stories, read aloud, emphasizing the universal themes of creativity, challenge, and community.
-Finishing Focus: Practical, no-nonsense tips and actionable strategies for completing your quilt projects (WIPs/UFOs). It's gentle motivation to finish those beautiful quilts!
-Quilting Tidbits: Essential, quick-hit information on tools, new fabric lines, techniques, and the latest happenings in the world of quilting.
Join us to recognize your own journey in the stories of others, gain practical quilt project planning and organization skills, and feel more connected to the quilting community as a whole.
New episodes are released every Wednesday morning.

Today’s episode is a super-quick update about The First Stitch that I wanted to share with you directly. (And no, it's not an April Fool's Day joke!)
We're taking a spring break for the months of April and May, and new episodes will return this summer on Wednesday, June 10th! Life is full right now in the best possible ways (a few more details are included in the episode!), and I LOVE creating this podcast for you…so I'm making a few adjustments.
Starting in June, new episodes will drop every 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month. Twice a month, every month. It's a slight change that is going to make a big difference in keeping this show going strong for the long haul!
Make sure you're subscribed to my newsletter so you don't miss the June 10th return (plus keep up on behind-the-scenes fun and snag a first-look at what I hope will be my new quilting studio!), and I'll see you then. Thanks for being here. It means more than you know!

And speaking of stories... have you been thinking about sharing yours? I would love to hear it! I’m still collecting stories over the break, and your First Stitch story could be featured in an upcoming episode!

Hello, and welcome to the First Stitch Podcast, where we tell the stories of how everyday quilters just like you got started quilting, plus talk about some other fun quilty things along the way. This is your host, Lisa Donnelly from Wild Plum Lane. Let's get started. Hey there, and welcome back to the first stitch, where every quilter has a story. I'm so glad you're here today. I'm popping in with a quick but important update, and I want to share it with you directly because you are exactly why I do this show. The first stitch is going to be taking a little spring break. There won't be any new episodes in April or May, but we'll be back on Wednesday, June 10th, all fresh and ready to go. Here's the honest truth. I love doing this podcast so much. I enjoy hearing your stories, sharing tips, and building a little quilting community together. But I also have a day job, three busy kids, we are likely moving houses, and spring sport schedules are honestly a little wild right now. Doing a new episode every single week has been so much fun to start the year, but a lot to keep up with. So I'm making a change that lets me keep showing up for you in a way that's sustainable. Starting in June, new episodes will drop twice a month on every second and fourth Wednesday. That means two episodes per month with the same stories, tips, and quilty goodness you've come to expect. I've thought about it a lot and think this is the right move for now, and I hope you do too. It's a good example of making adjustments so that the things we love can actually fit into our real lives. Sound familiar? I feel like we talk about that a lot with quilting, and it turns out it applies to podcasting too. In the meantime, I'd absolutely love to keep collecting your first stitch stories. If you've been thinking about sharing yours, now's a great time to send it in. You can email it to me at first stitchpodcast at wildclumlane.com or fill out the quick submission form in the show notes. I read every single one, and your story just might be featured when we come back in June. In addition, you can keep up with me in my twice-monthly newsletter that I'm still planning on sending out during these next couple months. And grab your all access pass to my quilting freebies. I'll drop that link in the show notes too. I'll probably be sharing some behind the scenes photos and a first look at what I hope will become the new quilting studio. So enjoy your April and May, go ahead and make some progress on those whips while we're on spring break, and I'll see you back here on Wednesday, June 10th. Can't wait!
