In this episode of AWAKEN, Ryan sits down with Kathy Lindert — certified hypnotist, former stockbroker and mortgage banker, published author, first responder specialist, and the woman behind The Mental Edge LLC in Charlotte, North Carolina — for one of the most energetic, practical, and genuinely funny conversations the show has had. Kathy came out smiling, as her mother will confirm, and has not really stopped since. She's been quoted in Woman's World and Discover magazine, has been doing this for over 20 years, and is presenting at HypnoThoughts Live on Friday morning, which means everybody better show up sharp because she will be moving fast.

Kathy did not come into hypnosis from a spiritual background or a healing calling. She came in from the Yellow Pages, a mortgage banker suit, a briefcase, and a son named Kevin who had OCD so severe he wouldn't eat and couldn't sleep. Medication was making it worse. She found a tiny article in Prevention Magazine that said hypnosis helps with fears and phobias. She was having panic attacks of her own — couldn't drive over bridges, felt her world caving in. She called a school in Edison, New Jersey the next day, told them she'd pay for it one week at a time if it didn't work, showed up with her pens and her pad, told them to pick on her as much as they wanted because she was there to learn, and went home that night with one NLP knuckle technique. She did it with Kevin. He slept through the night. The teachers started asking questions. Her panic attacks about bridges dissolved after one session, and she used the same anchor — green, the number seven, left hand — to drive over the Tappan Zee for the first time.

That was her entry point. Twenty-plus years later, she has built a practice around the people who need it most and are the least likely to ask: first responders. Police officers, firefighters, EMS workers, nurses — people who absorb other people's trauma and crisis all day, get screamed at, get called names, have to hold it together in front of everyone, and statistically have one of the highest suicide rates of any profession. The tipping point for Kathy was a police officer on Highway 485, Steel Creek, who pulled off the road and killed himself. She said, there has to be a better way. She is now one of the people building it, and her HypnoThoughts presentation will teach practitioners not just the techniques but how to actually break through the blue line and get in the door.

The conversation is also full of practical gold: her three rules for every client (it's about you, we're changing your language, and yes, she curses), why she gives out rocks from the Jersey Shore and Lake Wiley and why losing one means Mother Nature took care of it, why she anchors in a higher power whenever she has permission to, the knuckle technique she used on Kevin that night, why she demands a number instead of the word "good," how she did better success rates on Zoom during COVID than in person because clients could rewatch the session, and why she finishes every induction with God kissing the client on the forehead and saying I love you, I'm here, lean on me.

She closes with the word that started it all: Abracadabra. Aramaic for I will create as I speak. She holds it up on her phone for the camera, lets it land, and says, be careful with what you take in, because that's what you're creating. It lands exactly as it should.

Three quotes from Kathy worth writing down:

"I teach them to not own that shit. I teach them to command their day."

"When you constantly hear derogatory statements, it does something to the person's psyche and their confidence. And so I teach them to change their language. I can. I will. I'm worth it. I'm important."

"Abracadabra is Aramaic for I will create as I speak. Be careful with what you say, or what you take in, because that's what you're creating."

SPEAKER_02

Hello everybody. Thank you so much for being here once again. And once again, we have an amazing guest. Welcome, Kathy Linder. She's got the dancing going on. She's got the vibrant shirt. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

That's right. You know?

SPEAKER_02

Good vibes. You must have been doing this for a while to have vibes like that.

SPEAKER_00

Yes. You know what? My mom even said that when I was born, I came out smiling and bright. And I'm always into the bright colors and but with the red hair. How could you not?

SPEAKER_02

All right. That's fair. Yeah. So I do want to dive into your past into hypnosis. And I'm just chomping out the bit because you're going to be presenting at Hypnothots, right? Hypnothots Live. The world's largest hypnosis conference.

SPEAKER_00

That's great. One of the worlds. Yes. I had presented a couple of years ago. And then unfortunately, certain family situations came up and I couldn't go for two years in a row. But um I had taught quit smoking and uh without gaining weight. And now I'm going to be teaching about working with first responders. And I'm very, I'm very excited. In fact, I'm Friday morning. I'm like, okay, no hangovers from the Thursday night pool party.

SPEAKER_02

Right. So that's cool. So you went from quit smoking or smoking cessation without gaining weight, now first responders. So how did you get into the first responders?

SPEAKER_00

Well, I still do the quit smoking, but I got into the first responders because I started working with a bunch of first responders, and they were having so many issues just with the not only the negative thoughts that they experience because of what people say, but also because of certain situations that they see. And because of it, they were having problems sleeping. In fact, there's a very high suicide rate with first responders because they feel like they can't talk to anybody because they're first responders. They're supposed to be here to help us. And when I started working with them, I noticed one, how much happier they were and how better they were able to sleep. And then what really got me was there was a police officer that I live in Charlotte, North Carolina, and on one of the major highways, 485 in Steel Creek, which is where I live, he pulled off the side of the road and killed himself.

SPEAKER_02

Oh.

SPEAKER_00

And I just was, I said, there's got to be a better way that they can get that kind of help and not feel that they're going to therapy or I'm going to judge them or anything. And so when I started working with a bunch of the different, and this was one-on-one, and they were paying me out of their own pockets, they kept on saying, you really need to get into the police and the fire departments. And even when I work with some of the um EMS workers and some of the nurses, they they all say the same thing. Is it an easy way to make money and to break in? Absolutely not.

SPEAKER_01

Right, right.

SPEAKER_00

Because there is that whole, and I'm not being negative, but there's that blue line. Like they protect themselves and they protect their fellow officers. And when you finally start breaking through, it's great because then they go, Well, you help Joe, can you help me? And Mike, can you help me? Um, so it's one of those things. And what I will be doing is sharing not only techniques on how to work with them, but I'm gonna share with everybody that takes the class how to really market it. And it's not gonna be an easy marketing, it's not, you're not gonna get breakthrough, like you're not gonna send a letter and they're gonna go, Whoa, where have you been all my life? Even though I like for them to say that, they're just not. Um, so you have to have patience and you kind of do a couple of free things and stuff like that. Uh, and then once you start getting that memento, momentum, excuse me, and uh memento, yeah, they're delicious too. They're really great. I love them, makes my breath tingle. Uh but um, and and you start getting that word of mouth, it really helps to break in and start doing so. The ultimate goal is to teach people how to break in, how to do that, and then if they can get the approval of the county or city or township, wherever it is, where they get funded, then it's even better. Um, will some of them, the the groups, when you do them, will there there be some naysayers? Absolutely, but who doesn't deal with that?

SPEAKER_01

Right.

SPEAKER_00

And and I always say, if you don't want to be here, that's fine. You know, just sit like you don't have to participate. Um I don't I don't really give a shit. I'm not evaluating you. Um and that's what I say with them. And and I I speak to them that way because then they know like you could do whatever you want. You want to get help, get help. You don't want to get help, I'm okay with that. But yeah, that's gonna hurt yourself.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. And it's interesting you said that what they hear as well as see, like someone's telling them something. What are they what's who's telling them and what are they telling them?

SPEAKER_00

A lot of times what'll end up happening is that if they're going to a domestic violence situation, or there's protesters or you know, situations, like even the teenagers, and they just start start getting screamed at and getting called names or spit on, um, you and I would turn around and punch them, you know, or do something, right? But they can't. I mean, they can arrest them, but if somebody starts screaming at us and calling names, um we we would be like, but they hear that a lot, you know, and and so when you constantly hear uh derogatory statements, it really does something to the person's psyche and their confidence. And so what I do is I teach them to not own that shit. I teach them to command their day so this way they can take control, they don't own other people's words, they're able to then manage their thoughts and not only that, they're able to start really understanding what it is that they need to do to let go of everything. And the techniques and tools are usually done within a minute to two minutes, and the results are amazing.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, for sure. If like you could get people to quit smoking, you could get people to release trauma, all kinds of things. So, okay, so then let's rewind all the way back to when you first started. What got you into this hypnosis world? I am a mortgage banker, and that makes perfect sense, of course. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

So I'm a stockbroker and a mortgage banker by trade. Um, I have a son that has OCD, and that's what made me go into it because the medication was not working, it was making it worse. And I started reading. There's a I'm 64 years old. I I don't care about my age. Like I'll I'll tell everybody because why? I'm proud. I don't think I look like it, so I have um, but I was reading a book in a prevention magazine and a little bit.

SPEAKER_02

I assume those, yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And there was a tiny little article that said in Prevention Magazine that hypnosis helps with fears and phobias. Oh well, I was having panic attacks because I couldn't help my son. So I wasn't able to drive over bridges because I kept on feeling like my world was falling, like just caving in.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And he wouldn't eat because he was afraid of germs. And so it was chaos, it was just craziness.

SPEAKER_01

Right.

SPEAKER_00

And when I read the article, I decided Google wasn't really a big thing then. So you had to go on the yellow pages, and I found a class, and I called up the guy the next day and I said, This is what I want to do. If it's not gonna work, I don't want to pay for the whole eight weeks training. Like I decided, I went to all these different therapists and everybody, and they never wanted to share the information because they just wanted to keep on taking my money. And I didn't, right? I was like, okay, I need to see results. I cannot tell you my kids, they're 32 and 34 now, and they laugh and they say, You fired more doctors and therapists than I think anybody in the world. And I said, Yes, I did, because if they didn't tell me their secrets, which is what they were working with with my son, they were fired.

SPEAKER_01

Right.

SPEAKER_00

Um, because they were not part of the team. So I called up the guy. Um, in fact, it's uh Dr. Jamie Feldman, who I went to in uh Edison, New Jersey, had a school. I don't know if he's still in business or not. And I went and I was in my mortgage banker suit because when you're a mortgage banker, right? Yeah, you're on your suit, I had my pens, they were on the top, I had my pad there, I'm folded my hands, I'm ready. So you have a briefcase.

SPEAKER_02

I do remember when briefcases, why do we stop using briefcases?

SPEAKER_00

Like uh I have a briefcase that I use every day.

SPEAKER_02

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

I do. Um, and I remember everybody walking in and being like, looking at me like you're a freak. And I'm thinking, it's okay. Um, and I told I told Jamie, I said, Um, you could pick on me, pick on me as much as you want because I want to learn. He ended up showing me a a quick little trick, which is NLP, with your knuckles, and Kevin, my son, was not sleeping. So when he wasn't sleeping, I wasn't sleeping because my husband worked in Manhattan. So I had to make sure that Kevin would keep everybody else like stay in his room and be quiet.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

So when I did the technique and Kevin slept through the night, I was like, All right.

SPEAKER_02

So now I'm curious. I'm sure the listeners are curious. What's this technique with the knuckles? Like I saw you tapping your knuckles with your other hand.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, so what you do is you take, um, usually you you do their non-dominant hand. So this is my left hand, and you have them remember three very happy memories. So at the time, it was um, he loved Disney, so I put in Disney. It's so much fun. When we go there, you get to see the characters, and you're tapping it. So this way you're anchoring all of that fun stuff.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

Next one was he loved pizza, so we did pizza with pepperonis. It's so good, it's delicious. And when you get it, you get a sprite, and it's like extra special treat. And then it was his favorite TV show, and I can't, I I can't remember what it was, but anyways, his favorite TV show, and it was so much fun and blah blah blah, and all this other stuff. And then we put in, but you know, in the cloud, because he was afraid of the movie Monsters Inc.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, yeah, right.

SPEAKER_00

So at night when the closet closes, or the monsters there, I'm so afraid. I don't know. And then what you do is you take each finger and you put it on that knuckle, and you say, and now your mind, well, with you're supposed to say your subconscious mind, but when you're eight or ten years old, yeah, right. So you say, now your mind is going to decide what's the best thing for you to remember when that closet and the lights go out, and you hold it down tight, and then we said, Okay, you could open your eyes. So you do this with your eyes closed, and you do all these things. And I said, How do you feel? And he's like, I feel like I want to have a pizza. I go, good. I said, bedtime. So tomorrow you can have a pizza. Close his eyes, put Teddy in his arms, close the door. I said my prayer.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Right. And because I was brand new, I had no idea what was going on. And um, he slept through the night.

SPEAKER_02

There's something too about it's funny because I'm the same way. Like you work with a client, it could be like pain reduction or anxiety, and you're like, Well, I know this is the right thing to do. I've seen it happen time and time again, and still I say the prayer, like, God, I hope this works.

unknown

I know, I know.

SPEAKER_02

So, what's what's going on there? Like, I feel like it's actually part of it now. It's part of the ceremony or the ritual of client work, is to say a prayer for them along with the techniques.

SPEAKER_00

Uh whenever I work with a client, I will always ask them, Do you believe in God? Do you believe in Jesus? Do you believe in the universe, or you believe in a higher power? Because what I've learned, I've been doing this for 24, 25 years, is that when they have some thing that they can lean upon or they can talk to, because I do a lot of anchoring. I I quit smoking in 1987 with hypnosis. I listened to a cassette recording and I quit three days. Um, I use anchors with colors and numbers, and then I also anchor in a higher power. And when I do certain things, whether I have God hold them in the palm of their hand and wipe away, wash away, take away all of this stuff or the universe or anything like that, you should see me. Their eyes are closed, and I'm like, oh, this stuff. Um, but I have found that when a person says, Yes, I believe in God, or yes, I believe in the universe, or I sometimes they don't believe in that, but they believe in a guardian angel, somebody that passed away.

SPEAKER_03

Right.

SPEAKER_00

And as long as it doesn't make sad that when they think about that person helping them, I'll use it. Um and then it's amazing how much more it increases. And it's funny because even during COVID, when I was doing things on Zoom and people said, I don't know if this is gonna work because it was on Zoom, I had a higher percentage of success because they could keep on going back and watching it. And it was oh, so you recorded it. I always record, I record whether it's the hypnosis, I don't record the whole session, but I record the hypnosis part. And then if somebody wants to learn like a technique, I tell them after we know it feels good in their mind and their body. And I I use a scale of one to 10. I don't say how does it feel? If they say good, I go, good could good could mean anything. Like I love burned jelly sandwiches, and it could be really good for me. I need a number because again, I'm a I'm a mortgage banker, I'm a stockbroker.

SPEAKER_03

Yep.

SPEAKER_00

So and then I have them take out their phone, record it, and I tell them I am your best friend for the rest of your life.

SPEAKER_02

That's right. My voice will go with you.

SPEAKER_00

My voice will always be with you.

SPEAKER_02

And then so what happens for the clients? How do you get that lever? Because I feel like the higher power god is like a lever that it's talking about stock marketing, a leveraged, you know, the higher power is a leverage. So what happens with people like, nah, I'm an atheist?

SPEAKER_00

That's fine. Then that's when I use the color and the number.

SPEAKER_02

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

Because your favorite color is always going to be your favorite color. And if they say, Well, I have three favorite colors, I go, fine, we'll use all three. Like again, I'm not gonna sit there and go, I I asked for one. My favorite color. I can fine. But it my root, my three rules in my office are quick and they're easy. One, it's about you, it's not about me. If you don't like anything I'm doing, if it doesn't feel good, tell me. I don't cry, I don't go in the corner, I don't call who your emergency number is. I just say, okay, tell me why. And then we work on it. Number two is we're gonna change your language because a lot of people use the word tries or can't or needs or I don't know, I'm not sure, maybe, probably. And that's all bullshit. Because when you use those words, you're already failing. So I tell them we're gonna change your language to I can and I will, and I'm I'm worth it, I'm important, and all these other things. And the third thing is I tell them I curse. I say shit, I do. I say shit, bullshit, and fuck that shit. Because in New York and New Jersey, when somebody is done with something, they go, fuck that shit.

SPEAKER_02

Boom, you're done with which is delightful as you're wearing a cross necklace right now. And I just love it. I am a foreign minister, and I, you know, those other words come out too.

SPEAKER_00

Um, I it's fun, it's funny because certain people, especially now that I'm in the south, um oh yeah, even more so.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, even more so. Hypnotist in the south, yeah. Look at it.

SPEAKER_00

Um and in the past, I had people get up and leave because I said that I curse, and I was like, okay. And but what I have found is that when I give them permission, even if they don't want to say F it fuck that shit, I say FTS. So they know what it is, and they're okay with saying FTS because sometimes, and this is my belief, and you can disagree with me, and I don't really care. Sometimes God even says, like, are you kidding me? Are you kidding me? Are you kidding me?

SPEAKER_01

Right.

SPEAKER_00

Screw that, get out of here, but screw that isn't as powerful. It has it doesn't have that. Boom, right?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, and there's some science behind that too. Like I've seen the literature where people that encourage experience less pain overall.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, well then I am pain-free for the rest of my life.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, there you go, there you go. Now I'm curious just for a moment about balancing stocks and business and hypnosis. Like, for instance, I have a full. Oh, okay. So you're all in on hypnosis.

SPEAKER_00

I'm all in.

SPEAKER_02

When did you see it just go? Because there's a lot of money in what you were doing.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

There was a lot of so then how do you use just these piles of cash to like it takes a little bit of work to establish a hypnosis business.

SPEAKER_00

It did. Um, I happen to have been very lucky where um I was I knew a therapist, uh, Lou, who had an office in Caldwell, New Jersey. And so when I would see a client, he just charged me $25 for the session. And it didn't matter how many hours I was there. Um and when I tell you that I tried every marketing technique in the book, right? Like we all do.

SPEAKER_01

Right.

SPEAKER_00

Um, I did yellow page ads, I did, I mean, because I did it, I started around 2000. I have to find my certificate. I think I started around 20, it's either 2012 or 2014, but I you know what I can tell you, because my son was eight years old and I started it so he was born in 1994.

SPEAKER_02

Um yeah, about 2004-ish, maybe yeah, 2004.

SPEAKER_00

And so um what I found was the best way of getting business in is that every time I saw a client, I asked them who their doctor was, and I wrote the doctor a note. And then I published a book and I'm rewriting it. So this was one of the books I wrote.

SPEAKER_02

Quit smoking without gaining weight for those that are listening. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Yes. And um, oh yeah, I forgot. How to quit smoking without gaining weight. So I'm rewriting it, I'm updating it, but I also had a weight loss book for women and a weight loss book for men. And that was what most of the people were coming in and seeing me for. Um, so when I would write to the doctor and send them a book, I was a professional, I was an expert.

SPEAKER_01

Right.

SPEAKER_00

And so I got more and more business. When I first started out, I worked with children. I worked with children on the spectrum, and I even went to Don Mottin's training in Queens, and I I learned how to work with them and how to do certain things. Um it was great, but a lot of times with the parents that had children on the spectrum, they didn't have that much money.

SPEAKER_03

Right.

SPEAKER_00

And so I had to do something to make sure I got money. And because I'm an ex-smoker and I quit smoking with hypnosis, that was the best way of getting people in.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, absolutely.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

And then now most of what you see is in person, right? You have some clients that you do with Zoom.

SPEAKER_00

Mm-hmm. Yes. Majority of the time I see people in person, uh, except for during COVID, it was all online. But um the New York and New Jersey clients that I get, and that if I still get ref which I still get referrals from certain doctors, I will see them on Zoom. Um, again, I felt that and And I would see it because again, I am a mortgage banker and a numbers person.

SPEAKER_01

Right.

SPEAKER_00

Follow up with my clients. I do have a VA. She follows up. So we do a 10-day follow-up, then we do a month follow-up, then we do a three-month follow-up, we do a six-month follow-up. So we do all these things. The further you go out, the less you hear back from people. But every once in a while you get a surprise like, hey, I saw you seven years ago and I wanted to thank you for saving my life. And I'm like, that's great. Who are you? You know, I always like that when they text me.

SPEAKER_02

I love that you do the three-month and six-month follow-ups because I don't think a lot of people do. And then they brag about their numbers.

SPEAKER_00

Uh, we do that, and I started that right from the beginning, partially because I wanted to be able to show people this is how many people I saw, this is how many people were successful. They wouldn't see people's names, but they I knew that I was following up and doing it.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, and then you could just like stock so you could see your business performance. You had your financials, yes, and your product was a good product, and obviously it is. You're here, you know, decades later. What was the biggest aha for you in hypnosis? Like when did it just like click? You're like, oh, I get it now.

SPEAKER_00

Well, when Kevin slept through the night, my I turned to my husband and I said, because I had quit smoking with hypnosis, but it was on a cassette.

SPEAKER_01

Right.

SPEAKER_00

So it wasn't like I could talk to anybody other than the people in my office that all thought you're never gonna quit smoking. And then I did. Yeah, like a big ha-ha. I quit. Um, but when I started working with the kids, and I realized that they were counting them down. There's two, there's really two hip uh hypnosis aha moments. One was when Kevin slept through the night and he started getting better and not being so nervous and started eating, and even the teachers were like, What are you doing? I'm like, hypnosis. And he started to tell other people's, you know, uh parent or other parents that hey, you might want to talk to Kathy. This is what she did with her son. Um, it's so funny because none of them asked permission, they were just like um, but I could not drive over bridges. Remember, I told you because I just afraid. And during the class, they said, What are you afraid of? And I said, Bridges. Like in in New York and New Jersey, there's bridges all over.

SPEAKER_02

Like, yeah, right. Yes, bridges.

SPEAKER_00

So they hypnotized me. And at the time, it was the it's the bridge that goes over to the shore. And I I used to be, I think, the Edison Bridge or whatever. So I went over and then I drove back, and I didn't have a tack. Um, and they had anchored my favorite color is green, my favorite number seven. So we anchored my left hand. I did it on purpose, my left hand, yeah. I could drive and do whatever I need to do.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Um, and it's amazing, even to this day. If I start seeing, if I see when you're on Google Maps or Waze, whatever you know, product you use, you start seeing the water, and you're like, oh, there's a there's a bridge. And I'm like, I got this. And then I just think about my seven and my green, and I drive over, and even the Tappensee Bridge. I could not drive over the Tappensee Bridge.

SPEAKER_02

Right. That was like Yeah, that would that's that's a scary bridge to be fair.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

With the wind, if it had a little bit of wind, you were like, oh my god.

SPEAKER_02

Thankfully, they've they you know they got the new one now.

SPEAKER_00

Yes, I drove over that too.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. And I remember and I used to live in the Seattle area, and they had this, I want to say it was like the Galloping Gaddy or something, and they just show pictures all over, and it's one of those swaying bridges, and they show the collapsing, so it definitely doesn't help. You know, okay. So thanks. Different engineers, right?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. It's Seattle. Sorry, people in Seattle.

SPEAKER_02

So you get what you get. I love how you're talking about you're starting with the OCD, and then you said you were working with some kids early on, and that neurodivergent. That's interesting. So do you still see neurodivergent people? Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

I do.

SPEAKER_02

Do you find it? Because to me, it almost feels like they have a superpower. So when you start talking hypnosis, it's like you're talking shop with these people. Like they get it.

SPEAKER_00

They do and they don't, because they they know that they are if when I work with them, and especially I I love working with um uh most of the times I work with boys because unfortunately, majority of the people that are on you call them neurodivergent, and you're proper, and I'm not because I'm older. But when they're on that spectrum, you'll find the majority of them are boys, which I still don't know why, but it is. Um, so when I do something and I'm working with them, I have their parents send me a bunch of information beforehand. And that is who is their superhero or who is it that they look up to? Okay. What's their favorite color? What's their favorite number? I need them to bring in their favorite toy. And I also will work with them. Um, I like to know, do they like planets? Do they like trains? Do they like airplanes? If I had them flying on a magic carpet, would they be with that? So when they come in, I have my my colored pencils because I used to use crayons and they break them too fast. So the pencils are easier, right? And then I have my sharpener. So if they break the point, I'm like, it's no big deal, you know. Like I don't get mad. I'm like, no big deal. Let me sharpen it. And I have them draw me what their planet or place that they want to go to looks like. And I take notes, like I'm listening to everything. I go, well, what is that circle? And what is that? And then I make up this story, but I I also teach them I'm very tactical when it comes to people that you know have ADD, ADHD, or anything like that. And it's funny because I'll use coins and I use coins, and this is from St. Patrick's uh Cathedral in New York City. So when I go to New York to visit people because our family is still there, I go there and I spend probably about $72 worth and I get the coins. But these coins have so many different ridges and pictures, and and you know, I I don't know if you could see it, but yeah, it's it's almost and if I don't have a coin like this, I give them a quarter. Because quarters have the ridge on the outside, or another thing that I will give them are rocks, and I give them a rock because if the problem went away, it's if they lost the rock, I said that means that the problem got solved. Oh, in their mind, they're like, Oh, I lost the rock, oh that's it, it must be solved. But the great thing about rocks is that you could find them anywhere, right? So if all of a sudden you lose a rock, I say to them, if you lose the rock, that means whatever it was you were working on, Mother Nature took care of it, and she wanted her rock back because you no longer needed it. And then if you want to get another one, you can, but it has to be for something different, and they love it, and and you should see I have rocks from the Jersey Shore, from Connecticut, uh, from our lake here in Charlotte. I live by Lake Wiley. I have seashells. I went and I bought um rocks at Michael's because some people wanted black and I didn't have black. I was I was like, okay, I get it. So I have a gazillion different kinds of rocks, I have coins that I give out, and um it's amazing. Even adults love that they can get a rock.

SPEAKER_02

I was gonna say, yeah, that's quite lovely in what you're doing there. And even anyone can appreciate that. Let their imagination go a little bit, you know. Like, like what do you do for that person that's like, I don't want to play your game?

unknown

Right.

SPEAKER_00

Well, I I tell them a story. I said, let me tell you a story, and and it's a true story. Um, that there is an Indian tribe that believed that Mother Earth, Mother Nature, would help them. And so the chief would talk to their tribe. And if somebody had worries or were jealous or anger anything, the chief would give them a rock. And if you rub the rock, you would then close your eyes and put in that anger, the jealousy, the fear, whatever it is. And as you put it in, you're gonna notice that the rock gets heavier because it's leaving your mind and your body, it goes into the rock. As soon as I say that, people go, You're right, my rock is heavier. Because I'm telling you the story.

unknown

Right.

SPEAKER_00

And so when I tell you the story about how the rock is going to help you to get rid of it, and then they feel the rock gets heavier, it's very rare that they don't buy into the story.

SPEAKER_01

Right.

SPEAKER_00

They're called worry rocks. If they should decide not to, I say, keep the rock anyway.

SPEAKER_01

Keep it anyway.

SPEAKER_00

Right, keep it anyway. Nobody has thrown it out. They put it in their pocket.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. That's brilliant. I love that. I'm thinking too of hypnothots. There's there's one guy that was there with a bag, I think it was last year or the year before, and he would take a crystal, and it's a magic trick, so it's you know, it's a little more expensive and elaborate than rocks.

SPEAKER_03

Right.

SPEAKER_02

And then you put you like put your energies into the crystal, put it in the bag, and then he would like do his woo with it, and then you pull out this dark crystal, like the the pure crystal became dark. It's a great it's a great effect.

SPEAKER_00

Yes, yeah. I I don't bel I believe in the kiss theory. I keep it simple, sweetheart.

SPEAKER_02

Yes, yes, yes. So the power of story, there's so much magic in story.

SPEAKER_00

That is correct. And and when we went to um Arizona, but we also went to Zion, which is I I believe it's in Utah, if I'm not mistaken. I don't remember at the moment.

SPEAKER_02

Could be Africa for all I know. I haven't hung out in those parks. I want to.

SPEAKER_00

I want to see one of the the parks in um and they sell worry rocks, and but they're very, very well made. So they're flat, and then they have the thumb print, so you can do that. Okay. I was like, I am not spending six dollars on each of these rocks, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Mother Nature does a great job. Yeah, it's it's a perfect spot for your thumb. Yeah. So okay, so before rewinding back to when you went to different people to learn, you're like, give me the secrets, right? I feel there's something about that. Do you see that when you're meeting with your clients, you're giving them the secrets so that way they can do it themselves?

SPEAKER_00

Absolutely, absolutely. And one of the things that I always remembered is, and even when I was learning whether it was programs or products with um selling stocks or or mortgages, is I would make it my own because then I let them I I give one when I'm learning a secret from somebody, I make it my own, and then I add my own spin to it. Because then I feel comfortable then teaching those people. So yesterday I was working with a gentleman, his mom is not well, he's not well, it's like all this stuff. And I had done one of the um classes, in fact, it was in Hitman of Thoughts with um Melissa Tears. And she does this push away, and she's like, push away, push away, push away, and you do this whole thing. Well, one of the things that I realize is that when you're doing all of this pushing away and then you come back, you don't reset the mind and the body. So now I do it where you go, peace, you know, and I have the mind and the body. But I also did it where I start from the top of your head and I go all the way down your body. Because what if they have a gut issue? What if they're right, you know? So I'm like, just push it all away.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And and so when I do those types of things, I'm showing them how to do it, and whatever way they do it, I they go, Did I do it right? I did you did a great job.

SPEAKER_02

Like, yes, that's right.

SPEAKER_00

Because who am I? If it feels to you, that's great. That's all that matters to me.

SPEAKER_02

I like how you did the seal the deal too, like peace, you know, just uh, what's it feel like now that all that's pushed away? Let's reflect. What does it feel like now?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. So when you do that and you say peace or I got this or confidence, you know, it depends on who I'm working with and what it is that we're working on. I just I have I always remember that when I was doing things, and if I didn't feel like there was closure, like there was like that's the end of that chapter, right? Here's a new one, I'd I'd be like, what am I missing? So I always make sure that whether it it's funny. So whether it's you're doing this, you're doing the fist trick, like I have all these different tricks. But how do we just make sure that they give themselves that that peace or serenity or confidence, the hypnosis? If they give me permission, whether it's God or the higher power or the universe or whatever, I have it that that entity, that spiritual being, even if it's Mother Earth, I don't even care. Yeah, I have them kiss them on their head, tell them that they're loved, and that they're always with them.

SPEAKER_02

I love that. Yeah, that's great.

SPEAKER_00

And people love that.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, it's a beautiful thing. And it goes back to you're talking about you're talking about their color, their number, and then at one point you could even be like, Who's your superhero? So then I want to turn it. We know that you got green, you got seven. So what's your who's your superhero?

SPEAKER_00

God, I'm gonna say, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

And I I love that imagery of God kissing you on your forehead.

SPEAKER_00

Correct. So, and whether it's God or Jesus, you know, to me, they're one. Um but um so when when you're getting kissed on your forehead and saying, I love you, I'm here for you, and I will always be here for you. Lean upon me. It's just people you could see their whole body go, okay, I'm no longer fighting this by myself.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, that's a wonderful feeling.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

So Kathy, I'm looking forward to seeing you hit in the thoughts. And I appreciate you being here. Before we let you go, yeah. Oh, thank you. Is there anything that that you would like the world to know right now? Is there anything that bubbles up that it's just a message in your heart you like to share?

SPEAKER_00

I I would always say that none of us are alone, but there's always whether, again, there's always a technique, there's always a tool, there's always a word, there's always something. When I have all right, let me take this down and hopefully not break everything.

SPEAKER_03

Hopefully.

SPEAKER_00

Havracadabra. It's Aramaic, of course, it states in Aramaic, I will create as I speak. When people talk to themselves negatively, you're gonna get a negative outcome. So when I talk to everybody and I teach everyone in my when they come to me, even the little kids, abracadabra, it means that you are now able to create your own world because what you say to yourself or what you allow to come into your mind and you own becomes part of you, it becomes your reality. So I always say, be careful with what you say or what you take in, because that's what you're creating. So that's that's my my end.

SPEAKER_02

I love it. It's it's very biblical too. Be careful, little eyes, what you see.

SPEAKER_00

Yes, yes.

SPEAKER_02

Well, thank you so much, Kathy. And I'll be sure to include everything about getting in touch with the mental edge there if you want people want to see you. And people can register and see you in Vegas.

SPEAKER_00

Yes, they can, and I'm looking forward to it. I was excited that I'm a Friday morning, yeah, and I'm gonna start off everybody with high energy and teaching them tools and techniques. And yeah, I only have 50 minutes, so I'm gonna be like boom, boom, boom, boom, boom.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, yeah. Can't wait. It'll be a beautiful firework display.

SPEAKER_00

I appreciate it. Thanks.

SPEAKER_02

Take care.

SPEAKER_00

YouTube, bye bye.
