The Morning Charge
Acts 13: The First Missionary Journey Begins

Acts chapter 13 marks a defining shift in the early church. What began in Jerusalem now becomes a Spirit-led missionary movement.
While the church in Antioch is worshiping and fasting, the Holy Spirit speaks clearly: “Set apart Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.” From that moment forward, the gospel begins moving intentionally beyond regional influence into global mission.
In this episode, we break down:
• How worship and fasting positioned the church to hear the Spirit
• What it means to be “set apart” before being sent out
• The confrontation between Paul and Elymas the sorcerer
• Why Paul boldly rebuked false spiritual authority
• The shift from Saul to Paul and what it signifies
• How rejection from some opened the door to the Gentiles
Acts 13 shows us that apostolic sending is not man made ambition, it is Spirit initiated obedience. It also reminds us that every true move of God will face spiritual resistance.
The chapter ends with persecution rising, but also with joy and the Holy Spirit filling the disciples.
When God sends you, opposition doesn’t mean you missed it. It often confirms you’re right where you’re supposed to be.
