The Morning Charge
Working Our Way Back to the Garden
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
In this episode of The Morning Charge, Joshua focuses on identity, original design, and the longing within creation for the sons and daughters of God to fully understand who they are.
Drawing from Romans 8 and Genesis 1, this message explores how brokenness entered the world, why people often feel disconnected and out of place, and how God is calling His people back to a simpler, more grounded way of living with Him.
This episode is a reminder that believers are not meant to live in confusion or constant instability. It is a call to return to God’s design, understand our identity in Christ, and begin walking with greater purpose, clarity, and boldness.

- Real Talk. Real Jesus. Real Life. -
Welcome to the Morning Charge. This is your moment to slow down, breathe, and get your spirit aligned before stepping into the day ahead. Life moves fast, responsibilities pile up, voices compete for your attention. But before the noise of the world takes over, this is where we come back to what actually matters. This is a place for honest conversations about faith, life, purpose, and everyday battles we all face. No pretending, no religious performance, just the truth. Because following Jesus was never meant to be complicated, it was meant to be real. So whether you're driving to work, you're getting the kids ready, or simply taking a quiet moment for yourself, you're in the right place. This is real talk, real Jesus, real life. This is the morning charge. All right. So and that and and so we're wrapping this up. Well, honestly, we are we God is bringing us back to our original design. And when things broke in the garden with Adam and Eve, man has always had this longing to go back to their original design. It's just we don't quite pick up, we know things are broken. We feel broken. Life feels broken. And in a lot of instances, we don't understand why it feels the way that it feels. We just know that something is off. Well, what it is is man is longing to get back into its proper place with God. All right. The scriptures tell us over in well, hang on. Let's just hold on, let's let's go there. I I don't want to have to paraphrase unless I just absolutely have to.
SPEAKER_02Oh gosh, let me pull this up. There we go. All right.
SPEAKER_01Romans 8. All right. I I didn't want to, I didn't want to misquote it. And I was like, wait, wait, wait, where is this? All right, Romans. Look, I'm already on Romans. Glory to God. That's where I've been poking around here lately. You know, and you have you ever realize that when you go through the Bible, you don't just go through it once and then you're just done? I got it. No, I I'm continually going through this. This is a daily walk. Every day I get up, I gotta choose to do what I'm doing. All right. Romans 8.18 is where we go. I'm convinced that any suffering we endure is less than nothing compared to the magnitude of glory that is about to be unveiled within us. I ain't even on my notes yet. I'm just really feeling the Lord breathing on this this morning. But listen to this. This is what Paul tried to tell us. He said, in Romans 8 and 18, I am convinced that any suffering that we endure is less than nothing compared to the magnitude of glory that is about to be unveiled within us. My goodness gracious. The entire universe is standing on tiptoe, yearning to see the unveiling of God's glorious sons and daughters. Okay. The entire universe, the entire universe is standing on tiptoe. The Greek word that is used here that translates into tiptoe means intense anticipation. Or it could mean anxiously anticipating what is about to happen with an outstretched neck. Looking as hard as it can, all of the universe is yearning. Yearning means a passionate, strong desire for something. You are yearning, you're almost crying out for this thing. You're yearning for it to see the unveiling of God's glorious sons and daughters, the manifestations of the sons of God. The Greek word that is used for unveiling here is the same word that is used for the full title of the last book of the Bible: the revelation, the unveiling of Jesus Christ. The created universe is the backdrop for the dramatic appearing of God's sons and daughters unveiled with the glory of Jesus Christ upon them. We are those sons and daughters that have the Holy Spirit, the glory of Jesus Christ resting upon them. All of creation is looking and hoping that we get the full revelation that we are sons and daughters of the Most High God. Because we're walking around in a huge identity crisis. We don't know who we are. We don't know where we're going. We're so busy, we don't know how to hear from the Holy Spirit. God is calling us back to a time when things are just a touch more simple. I say a touch. They got to be a lot more simple. And if you need to simplify your life, you need to figure out how you need to simplify your life because these are the important things. These are the important things. We're walking around, and and we are what we do. You are not a CEO. You are not a you're you're not an accountant. You're you're not a janitor. You're not whatever it is that you do, you're not that. That is what you do. It's a part of your life because it's what you do. Who you are is a son or a daughter, you ladies. You're a son or a daughter of the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. That's who you are, in essence. I don't have to make this bigger than it is. I know a lot of people like explain that more, and I'm like, how would I explain that more? You are a son or a daughter of the Lord. I mean, there's just it's the law. There's nothing else to say after that. But the universe is looking anxiously for the unveiling of the glorious sons and daughters. For against its will, the universe itself has had to endure the empty futility resulting from the consequences of human sin. We think that human sin and what happened in the garden only affected just us humans, it affected everything. It affected the land, it affected everything that is going on. But now, with eager expectation, verse 21 says, All creation longs for freedom from its slavery to decay and to experience with us the wonderful freedom coming to God's children. All of creation is saying, I hope you guys get this, because I sure am tired of living in the futility I've been living in. And when we begin to get the revelation of who we are, then they can begin to walk in the fullness of what God has for them. When I read this word, I'm like, until we get it, ain't nothing else in the universe getting it. Why do you think we're talking about that restorative, restorative revival? When restorative revivals begin to break out in places, like I was telling you about that study that was done in Kentucky. Restorative revival, it restores the people, and then it flows out and it begins to restore and heal the region. It begins to restore. Scientists have discovered in places where there are revivals that have broken out that the land has begun to heal. That's different than just a revival. Let's look that up together.
SPEAKER_02I didn't plan on this this morning.
SPEAKER_01I'm gonna go pull this up for us so we can so we can look at this. Let's see. I think I'm saying am I saying that right? My wife is awake. I hope I'm pronouncing that. Restor rest restorative.
SPEAKER_02It's something like that where the ecosystem. We're gonna find this. I'm gonna find it somewhere. Alright, here we go. I think. Well, lots of different things happen here.
SPEAKER_01This is one article. I gotta go back and find that other article. It was the it was the Asbury revival. You remember? When uh that broke out at that that school. What year was that? 2023? I believe. Reformative. Let's go, let's go back here. I gotta change my language.
SPEAKER_02You see, that's why husband and wife, we gotta be a team.
SPEAKER_01But with the Asbury revival, there was a particular article where I had read reformative revival. Here we go. Let's just sent let me simplify things a little bit. Reformation. Reformation, and even the word reformation refers to restoring to a more pure doctrine. When we hear doctrine, some of us go, eh. But doctrine means real. What right here. It was it it it's we gotta get back to what the word really says and how God really wants us to lead. And I'm look, I'm having to, I didn't prepare for this. I just feel the Holy Spirit on this today. And now this is interesting because the Lord has me on this search. My goodness, I've got to find this. I may wind up having to. I mean, because I could sit here and just go through article after article after article. I remember it was specifically ecosystem.
SPEAKER_02Alright, let's just let's just do this. Perhaps this is.
SPEAKER_01Y'all are like, Josh, it's just I mean, I'm a man on a mission. If I get on a mission, I just appreciate all you being here for the mission today. The Burnheim Forest, restoring nearly one mile of Harrison Fork, create high quality habitat, native, like many streams across Kentucky. The region was altered decades ago, rerouted to the edge of agricultural fields to maximize farmland efficiency. The straightening of stream channels are common practice, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. But a lot of the ecosystem was lost. Today, that is changing. The restoration project's rerouting. All right, this looks like a project that they're doing. There was, I'll find it. I don't want to take up like all my time trying to just look for this, but when restoration comes to us as humans, it doesn't just restore us, it begins to restore the land around us. All right, it restores the land around us, but it restores what's around you. See, it's important for us to, yeah, it re it reforms us. The Lord comes and revives us.
SPEAKER_02Reform, if we look at the definition of reform, reform means make changes in in order to improve it.
SPEAKER_01To make changes in something in order to improve it. So revival brings reformation in us, but not only when we get revived and we get reformed, it brings revival and reformation to the areas that we inhabit. If it did not, it would not have been stated in Romans that the entire universe is standing on tiptoe, yearning to see the unveiling of God's glorious sons and daughters. All creation longs for freedom from its slavery to decay and to experience with us the wonderful freedom coming to God's children. We got to get free, we've got to get revived, and we got to get reformed so everything around us can begin to do the same thing. Do we realize the importance of how it starts with us? Why us? Let me ask you guys a question. This is gonna sound very off topic, but it's gonna be very on topic. I'm gonna bring it back home. You guys put down in the chat what makes a farm a farm? Y'all just, we're just gonna roll with it. I ain't nowhere near what I had wrote out. What makes a farm a farm?
SPEAKER_02I mean.
SPEAKER_01But you guys, y'all are all you both y'all are getting the answer. What makes a farm a farm is the farmer. Without the farmer, it's it would be what? It would be utter chaos. If any of you guys have ever homesteaded, if you've ever had chickens or cows or if you've ever had anything, they depend on you. All right. Now, let me let's get this. All right. Without the farmer, it's not a farm. It's just a it's it's a wilderness. All right, it's a bunch of wild animals doing whatever they want to do. A farmer keeps things in order, and the animals learn who the farmer is, and they know that he's the boss. He's the one in control. They know when you're walking up, it's probably time to eat. Or you're putting more water in the in the thing. They they're they're they're trusting you. They get this trust with you, these animals do, and they learn who you are and what you're about. Cows are a whole lot smarter than people give them credit for. They are very and they're and they're very curious creatures too. Anyway, without getting into the whole lifestyle of farming and homesteading, the farmer makes it the farm. God put us here to inhabit the land.
SPEAKER_02Did he not? God put us here to inhabit the land.
SPEAKER_01All right. Y'all still with me this morning? Y'all saying hello to each other in the chat. Y'all how Josh is on this, he's on this wild tangent today. And then God said, Let us make man in our image according to our likeness. Let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, over the cattle, over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth. So God created man in his own image. In the image of God he created him, male and female he created them. Then God blessed them, and God said to them, Be fruitful and multiply, fill the earth and subdue it, have dominion over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, over every living thing that moves on the earth. And God said, See, I have given you every herb that yields seed, which is on the face of all the earth, and every tree whose fruit yields seed, to you it shall be for food. Also to every beast of the earth, to every bird of the air, to everything that creeps on the earth, in which there is life, I have given every green herb for food, and it was so. And God looked around, everything was good, and the evening and the morning were the sixth day. What I want us to understand here is that when we fell, when Adam and Eve, our ancestors, fell to sin in the garden, do we think that just affected humans and the way that humans lived?
SPEAKER_02I'm just saying.
SPEAKER_01I I really want us to get a little something today from this, from everything that we're reading. Have dominion over the fish and the sea and the birds and every living thing that moves on the earth. Have dominion. And we are God's image bearers here on the earth. He made us in in his own image. But I want this to connect here with what I was reading over in Romans. God said, Here you go, man. Now you have dominion over all the earth. All right. So you go, subdue it, all right? You have dominion over the fish and everything in it. So now go forth and do your job. Adam and Eve failed at their job. And what's happened with us as humanity is we've had issues trying to break down all the sin and all the confusion and all the identity crises that that we have, and we've got so much in the way of ourselves till we don't even know where to start to get back to the center of who we are. And creation is like, hey, hey, are you gonna get it? I sure hope you get it because you're affecting us. Until we get it, it affects everything. There's there's there's something there's something in this message today until we get it and we understand the importance of being revived, the importance of being reformed so that everything around us can begin to change. We've got to begin to walk in our proper identity. We've got to have a boldness within us to know who we are and stop this wavering thing. Today I was on the morning charge and I just, oh man, it was so good and knew where I wasn't. I got up the next day and something happened, and now I don't know who I am anymore. What is up with this whole, I mean, what is up with this whole wavy up and down thing? I know that was a dance back in the. I mean, I think we made that popular. I don't know. But there's a whole lot of riding this wave thing. We got to be like Jesus, and we need to stand up and say, peace be still in my life. Stop riding these waves and letting these storms define who you are. Get up and rise up and know that you're a son and a daughter of the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords, and God has called you to greater than where you are right now. But until you get the point of who you are and whose you are, everything is going to remain the same. Everything's going to remain the same. And I'm tired of the same. There's somebody Out there this morning saying, Josh, I'm tired of the same. I'm tired of going through the same old cycles. I'm tired of going through the same old junk. I'm tired of the same old things happening. Well, then break up and break out and put the boldness of the Lord, let that rise up within you and start walking in who God says you are. You are man, and he gave you dominion over all of the earth. He gave you dominion over your area. And even though man fell, it is time for us to work our way back to the garden, just like we're talking about. I mean, I had I had a whole thing written out this morning. Gosh, we only got to point number one yesterday. And point number two goes along with what I'm saying right now because we've replaced discipleship with attendance in church instead of talking about all the real things like we're talking about right now. Got a whole congregation full of people who are just sitting there and they've been the same they've always been since they came in the doors and they've grown up in this thing and they've raised their kids in this thing, and now their kids are growing up in the same way as mom and daddy because nobody's changed. God's breaking down tradition. He's breaking down religion because it's just time to get real with one another and really get into this discipleship thing and pointing people back to the Word of God so people can learn their identity and begin to walk rightfully on the earth again as the way God originally designed us. I know I get a little bit excited. Can y'all tell me this is very passionate to me? This is very passionate to me. Because nothing will change on the earth until we understand our identity. Until we understand who we truly are. Things will always be the same in your life and everyone who is around you. It's time to be a change agent. It's time to become a change agent again.
SPEAKER_02Again, it is.
SPEAKER_01Thanks. Stephanie's like, Josh needs a coffee. Thanks, friend. I appreciate that. Sherry, thanks for the roses. Anyone else who sent anything today, thanks. I'm getting used to looking at this whole studio thing. It's all. But I'm telling you, we're going to Kentucky next week. And I want to see, there's like what, 16, 18? We got a bunch of states represented that's coming to this thing. In other words, at least one person from those, what, however many states are coming. All right, trash man. We're still believing for at least 25 states, 17 now. We're still believing for at least 25 states, but don't. If you can find a way to be there, be there. Because I see something taking place. It is by no mistake that we are going to meet in a state that has already seen ecosystems become healed because of restoration and revival and reformation happening in that state. It's by no chance or coincidence, I'm going to find that. I'm going to post the link for you guys somewhere so y'all can go read the same article. I just got to sit down and find it in the moment. It'll take me a minute. It's by no mistake that God said, hey, Bremen, Kentucky, come together, one accord nights, coming together in one accord. And we're just going to see what God wants to do. We're going to see what God is. Selena, you can get there, Western Kentucky.
SPEAKER_02Find a way to get there, my friend. Amen. Amen.
SPEAKER_01John one and twelve said, But as many as received him, to them he gave the right to become children of God. You're a child of God. To those that receive him, you're a child of God. Amen. Mama on missions, we have uh Amanda has, if you want the Bremen, Kentucky event, she's got stuff plastered all over her page. All right, so get on Brazzle Dazzle's page and look that up. We have information on all the events that we have scheduled so far as far as fire and water ministries goes, and Brandy and myself, in which you can go to the link in my BIO and you can find out how to get there and how to find that. Okay. But Brazzle Dazzle is who you want to go wherever. I don't know. I can't see what y'all see. So oh man. All right, remember, you're a child of God. 1 Peter 2 and 9 says, but you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, his own special people. We are chosen. Yeah, that's the key, Kara, if you have received him. And we are a chosen generation, as long as you have decided to jump in and become a part of that chosen generation. You're loved, Romans 5 and 8, but God demonstrated his own love toward us in that while we were still sinners, Christ unalived for us. While we were still sinners, Christ unalived for us. Absolutely, Amanda. We are seated in heavenly places. We were co-resurrected with Christ. We were resurrected with him. We are seated in heavenly places. Do we understand who we are? Do we fully understand who he is? I mean, we try to go through these teachings in these books and of the Bible and really learn what was going on, what was being said. And these are all signs to help us point towards who we are and whose we are and how we should be walking on the earth, how we should be holding ourselves here on the earth. So many of us walking around weak, we're walking around tired, we can't do any more. It's because we have been hurried, we have been worried, and we allowed the enemy to keep us in that same pattern so we feel beat down and we can't concentrate on anything else. I'm just saying. In Kentucky, Mom, in South Carolina, Bremen, Kentucky. All right, this event is going to be taking place at the Bremen Elementary School in Bremen, Kentucky, the 27th and 28th. That is next Friday and next Saturday. All right. Get there if you can. Service is starting about what? 7 p.m. Is that right, Amanda? 7 p.m. Morning, Phil. Good to see you this morning, buddy. Amanda will put the times and stuff down there. 6. All right, 6 p.m. All right, 6 p.m. And you guys are on central standard time. I imagine you guys are on central time. I could be completely wrong. I need to look that up. Oh my goodness. All right. Amanda's putting your info down there for y'all. So y'all make sure to make sure to glean, write it down. Yes, Central Standard, 6 p.m. Central Standard Time next Friday, and the same time on Saturday. So be there if you can. God's on the move. I didn't even think about that. He's just got me all over, he's got me all over the place today. There's a purpose and reason for this, y'all. Amen. Mom on a mission. Get there. Any of you guys that can. Amen. And Amanda knows the best place is to stay. All right. Probably cost effective too, if that's a thing. So y'all make sure to get with her, okay? All right, something else I want us to remember. Colossians 1, 13 and 14. In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sin. I am forgiven. Hello? I am forgiven. Bring those young people, Mama, on a mission. Come on now. Bring those young folks. I am all about the next gen. And understanding who they are and whose they are. Because if we can get it at an early age, I I I I I sort of knew about Jesus. But I didn't fully know who I was and and whose I was because I'd never been pointed in that in that in that type of way through the gospel. I just heard I just heard some stories and thought that was really cool. And I need to do the very best I can to live my life here on this earth. Took several years to get through that and really learn who I was. And I have such a desire to see young people come to the Lord and fully know, not just come to the Lord, but then know who they are at such a crucial age in their lives. Because if they get that revelation, then y'all better watch out by the time they be hitting like their 20s. I'm telling you, next generation, we got to keep pouring in, y'all. We got to pour in and we got to meet them where they are. Hello. They're right here, by the way. I have several young people send me messages on here. Hey, thanks for your video. Thanks for you know what you said really spoke to me. And you look, and they're high schoolers in high school. If we're not careful, we sit around in church and we try to figure out how in the world we're gonna get them in the building. The culture is shifting, and if we do not shift with the culture, we are not going to speak to them and we will not reach them. I'm not saying youth group is not effective, but you better be using the effective tools to pour into their life because there's a lot more that you can use now and meet them where they are. What did Jesus do? Did Jesus set up camp way outside of town and say, hey, we're going to have this thing, you come meet me where I am? No, Jesus walked right up into the middle of where they were, and that's where he did business. Well, we got to walk up into the middle of where these young people are, wherever they're at, and we have got to meet them in that place. If we don't, we will miss it. Don't be caught up in your traditions and the way things were and miss the moment of what is going on culturally today. Amen. I'm just, I'm just throwing that out there, y'all. We have got to be very relevant to these kids. I'm just saying. What are we doing? We got to assess what we're doing. Make sure it's effective. I don't want to be doing a bunch of good. I want to be doing a whole lot of God. Amen. All right, Colossians 1, we're forgiven. All right. I am a new creation, 2 Corinthians 5 and 17. Therefore, there is no condemnation. Oh, I'm sorry. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. I'm going to Romans. Help me, Jesus. Anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. I got ahead of myself. Next is we're no longer condemned. There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus. That's Romans 8 and 1. Remember that you're free. Therefore, if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed. John 8 and 36. Whom the Son sets free is free indeed. Amen. That's a good time, JT. Once again, look, you took food. So you did meet them right where they are, sir, because they love to eat. If you feed teens, they will listen. I can account to that 100%. All right. I'm justified. Romans 5 and 1. Therefore, having been justified by what? By faith. All right, I haven't just been justified. I've been justified by faith. We have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. So I have been justified by my faith, and that is what brings upon the peace of God through Jesus. All right, I am accepted in my beloved. Ephesians 1 and 6. He has made us acceptable in the beloved. Colossians 2 and 10 says, And you are complete in him. I am complete in him. Ephesians 2 and 6, and raised us up together and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus. I'm seated with him. That's where Amanda was going earlier. Ephesians 2 and 6. We were raised up together. We are seated together right there with Jesus in heavenly places right now. If you're not spending time in the secret place, then you're sitting in heavenly places asleep. It's time to wake up. Take your place. And that's in the secret place with the Lord. Ephesians 2 and 10, for we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works. I mean, I got like 50 scriptures here. But you are a child of God. You have been chosen. You are loved. You are forgiven. You are a new creation. You are no longer condemned. You're free. You're justified. You are accepted in the beloved. You're complete in him. You're seated with him. Oh, you are God's worksman, your workmanship. You're more than a conqueror. You're the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. You are not a slave to fear any longer. You have been given power, love, and a sound mind. You can come boldly before the Lord. You are hidden in Christ. You do belong to the Lord. You are an heir of God. You have the mind of Christ. You are the light of the world. You are the salt of the earth. You have been commissioned, and you are an ambassador for Christ. You want to know who you are, that's who you are. That's who you are. You were all of those things. And we just we've gone through the scriptures. I mean, I got a bunch. If you want to know who you are, that's who you are. Amen. She dak, I I don't, I don't have that. I have it. I it's just uh listen. I've been a Christian for a long time. I've taken a lot of notes along the way. I've written a lot of things down. I've never shared them. Maybe I can put that out somewhere for you somehow. I'll try to put those scriptures down somewhere. All right. I I am in many different places, okay? So make sure you've gone to the link in my BIO. Go to my actual page. All right. I put out videos. I've kind of slacked the last couple of days, but I put out videos too. But go to the link in my BIO. You can find me all over. All right, because there's some places that I actually put things that, you know. So go go glean from all the different places. I'll try to I'll try to put that down in note form for you. Because I think this is important for those that have never gone through these scriptures to go through these scriptures to know who you are. And then it's also important to know whose you are. See, there's two lists here. You gotta know whose you are, and then know who you are, marry those together, and now you're living powerfully. Work your way back to the garden. That was essentially my message today was working our way back to the garden. I still haven't got anywhere that I wanted to get on that, but that's okay. We're led by the Holy Spirit in here. And I feel like we have got to get that revelation that we have got to understand who we are. And and and we and here's the other thing, we've got to know what we're doing. Are we just existing? Do I just go to work and have a family and this is it? Like this is all that I have. I mean, it's great and this is wonderful. But God is like, wait, wait, wait. I have much more to show you in who you are. And when you understand really who you are, you are a more effective husband or wife. You're a more effective mother or father, you're a more effective worker at work or a business owner, you're a more effective behind the pulpit up on the platform, just uh in serving however God wants you to serve. You're more effective in your communities. When's the last time anyone when is the last time anyone in here has ever been to a city council meeting? When's the last time in here's ever been to a county commission meeting? You know, your communities are meeting and talking about things on a regular basis. Have you ever been there? Have you ever cared to listen? Have you ever been? I'm I'm just asking. God may be calling you to that. Maybe you have a real heart for your community. You don't know where to get started. Go to a county commission meeting, go to a city council meeting. Sit in, listen, see what's going on in your community. There may be something where they want to hear from the people. I have been, because just working many years in media, I have been where they're going to open up the floor for people to talk about different things. There was maybe three people sitting there. And then one of them was me. I was just a reporter, just taking down the notes and recording what was going on. Amen. That's today's morning charge. Before you move on with your day, take a moment and let what you've heard settle into your heart. Faith isn't just something we talk about, it's something we live out in the ordinary moments of everyday life. Wherever today takes you, remember this. You don't walk into it alone. God is already ahead of you, working in ways you may not even see yet. Stand firm, walk in wisdom, lead with love, and don't forget who you belong to. Until next time, keep your heart anchored, keep your faith strong, and keep living out real talk, real Jesus, real life. We'll see you on the next morning charge.
