Tarren Keelie & Caleb Moses Roses & Weeds!

Rooted in music. Grown like family.
The band was born from a front porch, a garden full of roses, and the kind of musical connection you don’t find every day. It all started when Caleb was next door, strumming his guitar and singing, while Tarren, Jason, and his mom were tending to roses in the yard. That simple, down-home moment led to new friendships, shared music, and eventually, a band.

Originally performing as Caleb Moses and the Guy Next Door, things shifted when Tarren Keelie—quiet and reserved in most settings—began singing a few songs during shows. Her voice, rich with a timeless tone that felt straight from the vinyl era, struck a chord with everyone who heard it. With Caleb’s expressive, soulful vocal style and Tarren’s classic country twang, their voices naturally complement each other—bringing an old-school heart with a modern edge.

Together, they formed Roses & Weeds with their drummer, blending deep roots in traditional country with their own fresh, personal style. Their sound is built on contrast and harmony—just like the name itself.

The name Roses & Weeds came to Lisa D., now the band’s manager, during a moment of reflection. She remembered that porch-side day and realized how perfectly it symbolized the group’s spirit: sometimes life is roses—bright, blooming, joyful. Sometimes it’s weeds—rough, unexpected, but still growing. Both need love, both can be beautiful, and together they tell a fuller story. The band often jokes about which of them are the “roses” and who are the “weeds,” but really, they each bring both.

After numerous recordings in Nashville, Roses & Weeds is on a mission to bring back the kind of music that’s real—songs that make you feel something, tell a story, and leave a mark.

Hey everybody, it is DJ Jazzy Katz back on Catch Tracks Radio. Uh, you know, sometimes you just have to bring the goods back. Today, here on the show, Roses and Weeds. Both Taryn and Caleb from Roses and Weeds is here. Good morning, guys. How are you? Good morning, Kat. Thanks for having us.

SPEAKER_01

Good morning, good morning. We're glad to be here.

SPEAKER_00

Well, I'm glad to hear what's going on with you guys. Since the last time that we spoke, which was many months ago, some major milestones have been going on with you guys. Want to tell the folks a little bit about what you guys are doing, where you've been, and who you are.

SPEAKER_02

Well, Kat, you called it from the very beginning with our first interview with you. We're gonna be going to Texas Regional Radio Awards and walking the red carpet.

SPEAKER_00

Hallelujah. Amen. Caleb, how do you feel about that?

SPEAKER_01

Um, you know, I'm a I've always uh liked the little flashy side, so I'm a little excited. I'm not gonna lie. If you get to walk the red carpet and put on a fancy outfit, we're nervous, but a little nervous as expected. And um, I mean, I'm actually really excited about opening the show. We got invited specially by Texas Regional Radio um to come and open the show.

SPEAKER_02

You're the first to hear it.

SPEAKER_00

So are you guys the very first show that happens? Are you your opening, you said?

SPEAKER_01

They want us to be an opener, so we don't know if we're gonna be first or second with the lineup yet, but we know we're opening the show and then they're getting started with it.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, so a little back channel, a little bit of what you guys do, where you're at, and uh how your moo music actually portrayed when you first started. Do you want to give our listeners a little bit of information about that?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, um, so it started with Lever Lovin' On, as you know, and that song it being our first song, it means quite a bit to us, and um it went to number 23 on the cards.

SPEAKER_02

Oh yesterday.

SPEAKER_01

I apologize, that's my lucky number. Um and I think just with all of the support and how much people liked it, and it really showed us that I don't know.

SPEAKER_02

It's just amazing. You wouldn't expect that out of a first song. Right. First song we put out of ours. It's original. And bam, first year. We're out here, and we won, or not one, my lord, got nominated for new vocal duo over the years. So that's amazing.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, it's really, really a huge honor, honestly.

SPEAKER_00

No, that's the Texas Billboard, Country Billboard. Is that what that's on?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, that's that's for the um Texas uh I'm not sure about so it's not billboard charts like your Nashville, but um it it's for the south southern states.

SPEAKER_00

Very nice, very, very uh that's just amazing. I I knew you guys were gonna grow. I'm watching your career. Uh Jason is very involved with a lot of stuff that goes on behind the scenes that people don't know about. You guys want to tell us a little bit about Jason?

SPEAKER_02

Oh, yeah. So Jason is our magic man. He, for one, gets us dressed, puts all the content together, records us. He really keeps us in line.

SPEAKER_01

Puts my underwear on and everything.

SPEAKER_00

Oh boy, that's an exclusive. I love it. Uh he straightened you out.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, he does all the social media, all the content, he builds it, and he's also our drummer, so we could not do if it wasn't for him.

SPEAKER_00

You've got a lot of seasons going on. I know that uh you guys make some really funny videos just for those that are listening in. If you're talking about spices, these guys have got it going on. Your latest video that I did see up on Facebook, and I think it's on TikTok as well. Uh, what was that all about?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, you know, we got so we wanted to get a really good shot for this new um uh release that we're doing, it's you on April 6th.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, we got a new song we just recorded three weeks ago now, just for this award show.

SPEAKER_01

And yeah, we needed to go out and get some uh good pictures for it. And uh when we album cover, you know. We went out there, obviously, roses and weed style, we gotta add a little humor in there, so we're all bouncing around acting like goofballs.

SPEAKER_02

So and that was the day that the weather went from like 90s to 40s.

SPEAKER_01

It's super windy, so all we could do is just laugh and shiver.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. Literally shaking to death out there till like 10:30 at night.

SPEAKER_00

Wow, a lot of take. So, how long did it take actually with the producer, uh Tony and his studio? Right, Tony's the one that was actually working with you guys with us.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, yes. Amazing. We love him. He is one of the best. I mean, I'm telling you, his personality from I mean to his brain on how he thinks music should should work and how he puts things in place.

SPEAKER_02

Um work with he was incredible, he made us feel right at home. Uh they're so funny. I don't know, they're just like family.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

But it I guess we he reached out and we talked to him and he got the song ready for us, and it was like four days we learned it and went down there.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, within a week we had less than a week.

SPEAKER_02

We were wow. I mean, it was rush, rush, go, go, but it I love it. It turned out to be so incredible.

SPEAKER_00

Well, I'm very proud of you guys. Four days, wow. Usually it takes a little bit longer. Sometimes you'll hear an artist say that they kind of had to do an extensive amount, like almost two years in the making, but when you feel that you guys are a pro. Yeah. He is a pro.

SPEAKER_01

He knew he he knew our sound, especially from Lever 11 on, and just he's like, I got a song for y'all. And I mean, you you work with the music industry, you see that there's a lot of stuff out there, so you kind of got to sit through stuff. Well, not with Tony. I mean, I'm telling you, first try, he's like, uh, you know, we we're gonna get something going right here.

SPEAKER_00

So wow. Well, what it that's a big deal. That definitely is. So you're gonna definitely be earing this out. You said there's an ear date for this song?

SPEAKER_01

Yes, there is. It's April 6th.

SPEAKER_00

All right.

SPEAKER_02

And we got a little special. So when we go to the wards and we open up, we're gonna start with Leave Your Lovin' On, and then we're gonna surprise everybody with this song.

SPEAKER_01

Before it's actually released.

SPEAKER_00

Yes. Oh, so a pre-release. Oh, exclusively.

SPEAKER_02

I need to get everybody will hear it on the show.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I need to get my plane fueled up for this one.

unknown

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

Well, I'm really excited about you all your endeavors. You guys are just amazing. Like I said before, and I'll say it again, they are gonna officially walk the red carpet. If you're listening into Roses and Weeds, they are, you know, up and coming. Uh and they've been doing amazing on the charts down in Texas, and I absolutely down the south, you know, you guys are uh from Paris, Texas, right? That's what it is. Correct. All right, so as long as I cross my T's and dot my I's with that, I want to know are you guys going to be showcasing anywhere else? Any festivals going on this year, summer, spring?

SPEAKER_02

Oh, um casino.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, we we do have uh maybe a festival coming up, but we do have uh we're playing at um Grant Casino on the big stage, the 271 stage, and then uh we'll be performing at Hoachatown, and these are all for um Yeah, the Grant, we're having a free concert, and it'll be July 18th, and then on July 4th, we'll be at Hocha Town again for and this is all Chop Taw Casino.

SPEAKER_02

Yes, all the casinos. We got another one in I think Hoach Town on May 23rd.

SPEAKER_00

So you're gonna be busy this summer. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Very busy.

SPEAKER_00

That's awesome. Any plans to go down to Nashville?

SPEAKER_01

You know, we haven't talked much about it, but you never know with our year, you know how crazy it gets.

SPEAKER_02

It's usually not planned till like the week of, and we're like, oh and we got someone to watch the dogs and plan it out accordingly, right?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Right. And big shout out. That's how it goes. Big shout out to Lisa too, right? She's been in contact. Saving Grace right there.

SPEAKER_01

Lisa Dirksen, the the the woman behind the wheel. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

The one that keeps us for sure in line. She's got the whip and making sure.

SPEAKER_01

She's definitely spanking us if we do something bad.

SPEAKER_00

Well, I hope it's you know, sometimes you get to keep you in line.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, it depends on how bad we did.

SPEAKER_00

I'm sure she'll let you know. Well, big thanks to you guys always for anything, you know, that you have done in the past and where you are in your future. I definitely have not uh I'm one of your number one fans. I say all the time, I think you're doing amazing. Really, really proud of you guys. And uh, you know, you go from red carpet to who knows, maybe a little bit of a Grammy going on too.

SPEAKER_02

So yeah, keep saying it, Kat, because you were the one who said it last year. So we love you.

SPEAKER_00

But any final thoughts between the two of you, one at a time?

SPEAKER_01

Um, yeah. Well, my message is to you, Kat, and again, I just we I mean, I personally want to appreciate you. You know, you got us, you know, in this motion. You were our first interview ever, and now we've done, I mean, so many since then, and I mean I can't tell you it was a pleasurable experience. You know, you can have a bad first experience, and with radio we didn't, and now we have a really good relationship with that. So I want to appreciate you for that.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, thank you, honey. Definitely 100% touche back to you. Thank you. How about you?

SPEAKER_02

Absolutely, I'm 100% agreeable with him. Uh, we love you so much, and thank you so much for supporting us from the very beginning. And also, we wanted to thank all the fans and everybody and you for you know nominating us for a new vocal duo of the year. I mean, we would not be here, we would not be on the red carpet or the show, or I mean, we wouldn't be successful at all if it wasn't for everybody else.

SPEAKER_00

Well, we want to see those pictures, we want to see those videos. I had another question. I would like to know if you're gonna be streaming anything. I know the red carpet won't be streamed live, but will you be streaming any any of your other shows?

SPEAKER_01

Well, we might have a little live if you go to our TikTok or Facebook. We might, you know, pop out to the live so you can see a little bit of the inside stuff. So if you kind of watch our stuff, you might be able to see a little bit of that.

SPEAKER_02

I know the red carpet will be aired live on I think Pain Media.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, there's certain I think Pain Media will do it.

SPEAKER_00

You'll put the link up, right, when that happens, guys.

SPEAKER_01

Absolutely. Absolutely.

SPEAKER_00

All right, and where could everybody find you? We know TikTok, you're on Instagram, uh, Facebook, any other platforms that we should know about.

SPEAKER_02

So TikTok is our private individual ones, and then yeah.

SPEAKER_01

We also got rosesandweeds.com. You can go all there to find our upcoming shows, find stuff about us and new songs. That didn't sound so country. And then okay. We've gotten gone gold there, but you can get merch and stuff like that and uh all that good stuff.

SPEAKER_00

All right, what kind of merch do you have? Hats and shirts and all that good stuff?

SPEAKER_02

Oh, we got it all. We got koozies, we got pics, we got pictures, signed autographs.

SPEAKER_01

Pictures.

SPEAKER_02

Uh, what are those? The tumblers.

SPEAKER_01

SPEAKER_00

Okay, so they can have a nice cocktail when they go out to cook on the grill.

SPEAKER_02

SPEAKER_01

SPEAKER_01
