SPEAKER_02

Hey guys, it's DJ Jazzy Cat alongside of my brand new co-host, as always. We are definitely having some fun over here. Gina, what's going on?

SPEAKER_03

Not much, Kat. Good morning, beautiful people.

SPEAKER_02

Yes, good morning, everybody. So a little recap on last week's episode-ish, if you will, with the hair, the products that you used. Pretty cool stuff. I like it.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah? Have have you tried it yet, Kat? Did you get it all yet?

SPEAKER_02

Well, here's the deal. My daughter-in-law was generous enough. Uh, it's supposed to come on this weekend, and I'm supposed to try it out. So, again, I will be trying a Gina style curl. So, there you go.

SPEAKER_03

There we go. All right, you gotta keep us posted on how it goes. Absolutely. And I'm here if you got any questions.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, no pun intending. She's here and there. You know how it goes. So, yeah, you're uh been doing a lot of things at the house with the dog. So catch us up on your new baby. How's that going?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, so I picked up my my puppy Daisy, and uh she has worms, so um, I have to wipe her butt, guys. It's it's kind of funny. I never thought you would need to wipe a dog's butt, but you do. Um, they actually make wipes for pets.

SPEAKER_02

There you go. Are they larger? Are they big?

SPEAKER_03

Um, yeah, they're like like a little bit bigger, but not too much bigger. Like that they're maybe like maybe an inch around bigger.

SPEAKER_02

Okay. Now, how long does this warm thing, did they tell you at the vet, is it something that it's gonna last for a long time, short time?

SPEAKER_03

She's on a three-month treatment.

SPEAKER_02

Oh wow, wow. Is it like an antibiotic for dogs?

SPEAKER_03

Uh almost. It almost likes so basically the way it works is that they give the first like treatment for I think it's like five, six days, and it kills all the adults. And so they poop poop out the adults, and then it the worms could get stuck in your grass. So you have to pick everything up immediately.

SPEAKER_01

Oh wow. Oh, you got your work cut out for you.

SPEAKER_03

Uh-huh. And then you have to wipe her butt.

SPEAKER_01

Oh boy.

SPEAKER_03

And after the like few days of the treatment, it stops because whatever the adults laid, like the eggs or larvae, that doesn't kill them. So then after like a month, she has to go back, get the treatment again, and it kills those adults that hatched.

SPEAKER_01

Oh wow.

SPEAKER_03

And then by the third treatment, it should be all like done. Okay, so like the lifespan of these worms is about two to three months.

SPEAKER_02

Wow, that's incredible. And you also have another pet in the house, too, so you've got to be careful, extra careful, right?

SPEAKER_03

Extra Yeah, we we have Red. He's on the older side. He's a little sick, but that's okay. He was diagnosed with cancer a few months back, so well.

SPEAKER_02

I give you guys both props. You and your husband, Matt. You guys have been doing amazing. Um, just to let folks know, Gina, you do have a YouTube channel, right?

SPEAKER_03

I do, yes.

SPEAKER_02

Could we tell the folks about that?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, so I just created it. You could catch our episodes up there. You could catch some of my dance routines, you could even get some of like my meditations on there. It's always going to be a work in progress.

SPEAKER_01

There you go.

SPEAKER_03

So yeah, it's uh under my name. Everything's nice and easy. If you know how to spell my name, if you're spelling it G-I-N-A, it's wrong. You gotta type in J-E-A-N-N-A, and I should just pop up right away.

SPEAKER_02

There you go. You're popping up all the time. You're popping like toast. So you've got a lot of stuff going on too, uh, you know, and Matt is very busy too. Do you want to plug your husband's uh website too?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, so we actually have the same website. So if you just go on to the Nisky Way, everything's right there.

SPEAKER_02

There you go, all listed underneath there.

SPEAKER_03

And he's I have to give a shout out because he is now a licensed um what what do they call it? Engineer. Licensed engineer and surveyor for the state of Connecticut.

SPEAKER_02

Wow, congratulations, Matt. Love it.

SPEAKER_03

So there are two different tests. The first test is the engineering test, which he passed quite some years ago. But then the second test that he could get is a surveying engineer, and that is basically, if you guys don't know, he goes and he maps out your property and he tells you, like, this is what you could do on your property. You can't do that. And now he's officially licensed in the state of Connecticut to do that.

SPEAKER_02

Awesome.

SPEAKER_03

And I'm very, very proud of him.

SPEAKER_02

You ought to be a very proud wife. I love the idea. You know, engineering is very broad, as you know. You know, going to school. I just uh my son just got his bachelor's degree in engineering, so a different kind of engineering. He's not surveying land, he's doing numbers in a different way. Can't disclose of what he does because it's kind of private, but at the same time, you know, those engineers there's a lot to be desired with them. There's even engineers when it comes to music. I didn't know if you knew that or not, but yeah, there definitely is engineers, all kinds of walks of life. So, yeah, so in studio, we will be back next week, guys. Definitely with some great stuff. But uh in the meantime, uh, like I said before on recap, uh Gina and I we're gonna be heading out to some record stores and having some fun, and we're gonna bring the old school, new school stuff to the segment. Uh, the lovely ladies. If you missed any of our shows, you can definitely hear it on recap. Uh, you can definitely check out Gina and I each have uh a website, and we also have uh definitely a YouTube channel and an Instagram. Gina, you want to give them your Instagram? Instagram, if I could say it.

SPEAKER_03

My Instagram is Gina J E A N N A underscore flows.

SPEAKER_02

There you go. And mine's catchtracks.net or DJ Jazzycat, better known as DJ Jazzycat. And don't get it confused with a C. It's a K. Okay. Yes, K K for kindness. There you go. So what are your plans for the rest of the day? You're gonna go out and about, you're doing some meditation? What are you doing?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, so um I have to drop into my meditation. I do my daily meditation. I have yet to do that cat with the new puppy that I just got home. Um, I literally like started my day like half an hour ago.

SPEAKER_02

There you go. Keep him busy. But you know what's always great is you know what you're teaching other people how to do what you're doing. Like I said, it's yeah, it's definitely an education, especially when it comes to puppies. You know, when you have them when they're really, really little, such as I have had a four-month-old back in the day. I had a Daisy and uh she was a handful at the beginning. I fed her a bottle, but then she became, you know, like okay, codependent on me. And I don't know if you've ever noticed that before, but they gravitate. They gravitate towards you. And she was very uh she wanted my undivided attention a lot. And when they're baby babies, it's like having a real human baby. Mm-hmm.

SPEAKER_03

Oh yeah. Yep. And I mean it it is possible. Like a lot of I feel like a lot of people get into their own mind where like there's so much stuff going on, like I can't handle it all. And I just want to say that it it is possible to handle it all. You can do it, and no one's saying that you need to do it all in one day.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, absolutely not. Definitely not. So you have a follow-up appointment with the dog uh in a couple months or in a couple months. In a couple months, okay. Yeah, so in between that, all right. Well, the spring is in the air, you know, the weather is kind of you know compliant a little bit. Uh want to get out there and start growing. Are you guys uh getting ready to um do any germination at your place?

SPEAKER_03

Oh, cat, we are already started.

SPEAKER_02

You did okay. So what are you growing? What are you growing this year?

SPEAKER_03

Uh right now we got some toothache plant growing. Um, I had to explain what that is in a little bit, but we got peppers, we got squash, um, we have strawberries that have been growing in my garden for quite some time. We just finished our blueberry garden and raspberry garden and grapes. Uh we fenced it all in so the birds can't get it because every year I go to pick them and the birds have already eaten them. And I get so upset. So we fixed that this year.

SPEAKER_02

Okay.

SPEAKER_03

And uh, what else are we gonna go? We're gonna be starting some sunflower seeds soon, and uh we're gonna start some beans soon with some lettuce.

SPEAKER_02

Very nice.

SPEAKER_03

And probably a lot more other stuff.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, I'll be over while you're sleeping to pick them. Yeah, yeah. Who's that crazy lady on the camera getting those strawberries? Me. Listen, I make jams. I've made jams before out of have you ever tried green tomatoes? You can actually make jam out of them, which is really cool.

SPEAKER_03

Green tomatoes. Yeah. No. So, okay, I have a question, sure. Oh, where we have normal tomatoes. Is it just tomatoes that haven't ripened yet? Or is there a specific type of tomato that you plant?

SPEAKER_02

Nope, just the ones that haven't ripened. Or yeah, at the end of the year, sometimes I don't know how much you know about germination, but sometimes at the end of the year, what happens is you'll get regrowth of things. So you have the red during the, you know, the peak seasons, if you will. And again, you can question this with your husband because he's probably better about germination than I am. But sometimes at the end of the year things seem to regrowth again, and I don't know how that photosynthesis works because the sun tilts and all that good stuff. But I have had a garden in the past, at the end of the year, the green tomatoes started growing. So a friend of mine said, you know, you can make your own homemade jam, getting the you know, the mason jars, the knox gelatin. Uh you have to boil them down. Takes a little bit of a process, and then when you put them in the canning jars, you gotta wait for the the pop kind of thing.

unknown

Uh-huh.

SPEAKER_02

Um, and then you just label them however you want. And jam usually lasts a good six months or better inside of a jar. And it's good. And here's the kicker of all kickers. You know, our our family is a big on cooking on the grill, right?

unknown

Uh-huh.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. So you could use that jam not only on your bread, your spreads kind of thing. You can actually use it with some of your say you did chicken and you have the jam. You could do um yeah, yeah, yeah. And uh, of course, you know, you could do it with your meat as a side, you know, whatever, and or you can use the jelly jams on your ice cream, if you will. Mm-hmm. Ice cream. Or your sorbets, however you'd like. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. So I've never thought about that. So let me ask you. Sure. You use the tomatoes, uh, the green tomatoes that aren't ripe yet to make the jams. What does the jam taste like? Is it sweet? Is it bitter? Does it taste like tomato? It actually I like fresh tomato, but like I don't like ketchup.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, so totally different taste altogether. That's a good obser observation. T totally understandable. So that being said, um, it's very um, I don't want to say very, but it it tastes like a jam, like jelly. It does not taste like tomatoes whatsoever. Yeah, yeah, yeah, definitely. You put them like I said, the knox gelatin. There's some recipes, we'll have to get them up for the folks that are listening in and uh post them up and stuff, you know. So all of our products, anything that we are going to taste test or make, guys, uh, we'll definitely put it up and we'll actually put it up on YouTube so you guys can see it. Um springtime is the best time for me. I like spring and I'm a fall person. I'm not so much the hot heat heat heat kind of thing, girl. But uh yeah, all your vegetables and you know, anything in the garden you can recycle however you want to call it, but definitely the tasting is the best part, right?

SPEAKER_03

Oh, I love tasting the fruit. I I like love picking my fresh fresh veggies and fruits right from my garden and eating them right away.

SPEAKER_02

There you go. You know what I like, Gina? I don't know if you've ever tried this before. Green beans and Italian dressing, fresh, not even cooked. Yes, yeah, love it, right? Love it. Balsamic vinegar.

SPEAKER_03

I love it as a little snack.

SPEAKER_02

There you go. And balsamic vinegar goes a long way too. There you go. That'll get your palates going in the morning, right?

SPEAKER_03

Yep. You know, I have this like really I love cucumbers.

SPEAKER_02

Me too.

SPEAKER_03

And I used to work at the Schubert Theater, and I would put cucumber in my water. I would bring my water, guys. I am the person that like brings water everywhere. If I don't have water, something's wrong. I feel off. And there's and I don't know why. So every now and then when I have like really fresh cucumbers, I pop it in my water. And there was this one time where I went to the bartender. I was like, Can you just refill this with water? And he opens it up and he's like, There's green stuff floating in it. You want me to dump it out? And I said, No, those are my cucumbers. And he said, Cucumbers. I said, Yes, cucumbers and water, delicious, and they're it's really good for you, lots of health benefits. And he's like, Okay, cucumber girl. And from that moment, I was cucumber girl.

SPEAKER_02

Ah. So I'm gonna give you another incentive to your cucumbers. So during the summertime, I do cucumbers, blueberries, strawberries, lemon, and I put ice in it. You could do a spritzer however you want, guys. You know, if you want to throw a little alcohol in it, fine. If not, you could do a little bit of what do they call that uh seltzer water, the flavored ones? Yeah. You can add it to it. I do it plain, I let it infuse, I put it in the refrigerator, cucumber girl, and there you go. Drink it up. And it's a really fun favorite, refreshing drink in the summertime. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

So you said cucumber, blueberries, blueberries, strawberries, and lemon. Now, is it lemon juice or like sliced lemon?

SPEAKER_02

All fresh. And if you want to add a little bit of orange to it. Oranges. Yes, it's very good.

SPEAKER_03

I'm gonna need to try that.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, definitely. Every year I'll make it. So, yeah, so when Gina is back in the studio, we'll actually start sampling some foods and trying to show you guys exactly what we're talking about, right, Gina?

SPEAKER_03

That's right. And we we'll put the recipes up on our YouTube pages and Instagram.

SPEAKER_02

There you go. So we'll have to go grocery shopping together.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, there's so many like great places where we could get fresh produce, and I'm not even talking like stop and shop or market 32.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, marketplaces, definitely.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, like market shops. There's a beautiful one that I literally just found, and I got a coconut. Although the coconut was bad, and I don't really know I did not know how to pick out a coconut, and the lady at the store was like, I don't know either. And I was like, Well, that's helpful. So I just kind of shook it, and I was like, ah, there's there's coconut milk in here. I'm gonna take that. It was not good. I guess if you hear the water or hair it, like it's more than ripe. Oh, really? And you gotta toss it.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, I didn't know that. Interesting. And they used to say that you could, and I don't know how this works for stellarization, but that being said, you're supposed to be able to take a nail and put it through the coconut too, in order to get the drainage to start.

SPEAKER_03

Oh you know, we we just kind of chopped it open and tried it, and we were like, this tastes off. So then we googled it. I was like, I don't know why I didn't Google it while I was in the store, but you know, it is what it is.

SPEAKER_02

It is what it is, yes. And coconut milk has a lot of properties. Um, people use it in their hair, their skin. Yep, yep, it's good for you too. Definitely. I'm not a coconut like you know, the coconut that you put on like pastries and things. I'm not a big person with that, but I'll definitely try the milk-ish. I have over the years. It's an interesting concept. Definitely different, you know, and you gotta go according to season too, because a lot of these fruits and vegetables are actually seasonal, right?

SPEAKER_03

Yes.

SPEAKER_02

Yes. Well, that being said, we've got a lot of great stuff in store for you. Um when Gina returns, we're gonna be doing uh funny facials, we'll call it. How's that? Funny facials. I love it. Yeah, so stay tuned for that. Uh any final thoughts, Gina, before uh we say goodbye today to the folks?

SPEAKER_03

I just want to say have a great day, and I cannot wait to join everyone next week.

SPEAKER_02

Alrighty. Thanks again, Gina. Stay tuned for more here on Catch Track Radio again. Uh Gina J, my new co host, and of course I'm DJ Jazzycat. Have a blessed day, everybody. Take care. Bye bye. Bye bye.
