SPEAKER_01

Hey guys, it's DJ Jazzy Cat alongside of Gina J. Good morning, beautiful people.

SPEAKER_00

Good morning, Gina. So it's been a little bit, maybe about a minute or two, since we've talked last about summer things going on. Some things are happening. Some things are here, some things are there. And she forgets to turn her microphone on. I turned you on over here, but no pun intended. But you know, Gina has been very, very busy. So let's talk a little bit about what you've been doing and where you've gone for your little staycations.

SPEAKER_01

Staycation. So we um did actually like day trips all this weekend. So, like obviously, you know, we had picnics to go to, but then we did a day trip to a renaissance fair, which was fun.

SPEAKER_00

Yes, Sunday. I missed it completely. My sword was down.

SPEAKER_01

Um, but it that was fun, and you went away for a weekend getaway.

SPEAKER_00

We did. We actually took our son to Indiana uh because he did get his bachelor's degree, but tying into that in this segment as well, like yourself, we like to be doing things on a whim. I don't know about you, Gina, but I love to just like, hey, let's go here.

SPEAKER_01

Yes.

SPEAKER_00

Get up in the middle of the night and just take off. That's what we do, right? So we're just on a whim. So we definitely went to Indiana. We got to see some of the speedway out there. Uh, Indiana, app Indianapolis is famously known for their speedway. Um, actually, we we're survivors of the rain again, you know. You gotta toughen it up just a little bit, sitting out there in the rain and enjoying the speedway. I've never been. Um, I definitely like NASCAR, not a huge fan, but uh affordable. My son Christopher said, Ma, you know, while we're out here, you know, let's find a couple things to do. And one of them of which was the speedway. And I don't know about you, Gina, but sometimes you know, you just get in that car. You can't do it on the highways and byways around here, but you know, you see that and it's like, woo, that adrenaline rush.

SPEAKER_01

So did you drive the car in the speedway?

SPEAKER_00

I wish I could say yes. In my mind, yes, I was driving. Definitely would love to do that, but I do know a lady actually that actually wanted to be a s uh, they call them spectators. They could actually race and you can sign up. I know somebody that also would love to do it as my mom. So up in Maine, they actually up the races up there, what they do is they blow out the windows of the school buses and they literally race them.

SPEAKER_01

That's awesome.

SPEAKER_00

Yes, could you imagine our our our puppy pets being on there and going, What the heck is going on? But it's a whole new brand of cat, if you will. Uh absolutely love to see the speedway, love to see the idea of um the flags, but they do things uh different in the rain when it comes to speeding. They actually have special tires that they cha change out, you know, while that's going on, they have a little bit of a delay, and they go into the pit and they change them all out and they put special tires on for raining. Could you imagine like right just a regular person driving around? Wait, hold on, I gotta change my tires. It's raining. Snow tires, but not rain. So that was really cool. We got to see some of the cool stuff that goes on there, and it was like a pre-qualification to the next race that would be coming up, which again we didn't get a chance to see because it rained out. So but I would love to go back and see that again. What a rush! What a great, like, you know, music gets us excited when we dance. Um, kind of the same feeling of the adrenaline, you know, your body saying, Thank you, this is great.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And uh, yeah, you were saying early on about you with uh the sword fighting and all that uh javeling and uh did you eat the turkey leg with no hands?

SPEAKER_01

So I did not eat the turkey leg. A lot of my friends got the turkey leg. Um we did a day trip with our friends, and that was a lot of fun. We had the kids come and like there was just a nice big group of us. We all got dressed up. Nice, and it was just good to like go out and like spend time with people in like a different oh totally different vibe. It was like a whole different time period.

SPEAKER_00

You felt like you went back in time, yeah. Yeah, that's awesome.

SPEAKER_01

So I would definitely not be able to dress like they do every day. That's a lot of tuck and fluff every day. I was like I I now understand why they had people like get them dressed because like you can't do that.

SPEAKER_00

So did you have to like lay on your back and Matt pulled it tight?

SPEAKER_01

Oh no, I had to like stand and I was like, babe, tight, tight, tighter.

SPEAKER_00

Bring all these parts up over here.

SPEAKER_01

Although I do have to say my boobs looked great.

SPEAKER_00

Props to the boobs. Yeah, I love it.

SPEAKER_01

So, Kat, what do you think the difference is between like a weekend getaway, a staycation, a like at home, like um, like vacations. What do you think the difference is?

SPEAKER_00

The difference between the two of them, I like I like I said before, I like to be spontaneous when I, you know, I let's go here, let's go there, you know, things pop up. Uh affordability, you know, it could be a mitzvah mitz. Gas pricing wise, if you're not traveling that far, sure, that's a difference. That's a huge difference. But enjoying yourself overall, I think it's a great thing. You shouldn't definitely limit yourself. If you feel like you want to go somewhere and you have the time, do it, like you said before. You know.

SPEAKER_01

So do you think like we should be planning like vacations and like more like impromptu like weekend getaways?

SPEAKER_00

I think it's a personal preference. I think it's a personal preference. Me personally, I like I like surprises. You know, like that Christmas morning, we talked about that on one of our shows during the day on Catch Track Radio. Uh doing things on a whim is great. I always like surprises. I like to see different things, like you said. Um, and during the summertime, you know, it's the best time because you can safely get in your car and drive. You're not worried about the weather. You know, surprises at Christmas time are great, but when you gotta travel, when it's cold, you gotta pack extra clothes, you know, things like that. You know, there's positives and negatives with every season, I guess. But my favorite thing to do is I'm the fall girl. You know, I like pumpkin picking and things like that, but we'll talk about that later on. Summertime is great because you get to, you know, hang out and I think there's a lot of pop-ups right now. You know, you went over Ansonia, right, to Warsaw Park? Yeah. Okay, so that's if you're listening to the podcast right now, uh Warsaw Park is in Antonia, Connecticut, and they've been hosting that for quite some time, the Renaissance.

SPEAKER_01

Quite a few years. So I actually used to follow some of these artists around Connecticut. I was a big Renaissance fair, like girly. Really? I would follow these artists. Nice, I could see that character around Connecticut, and it was it it was a lot of fun. And now getting to like spend it with my friends.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, like that's it adds the extra, right? Ha ha moment. Yeah, there you go. And family too, you know, they come out. I want to know, did you get to see and did they have the fire throwing thing?

SPEAKER_01

So no. Um year ago, two years ago, the laws changed in Connecticut.

SPEAKER_00

Oh.

SPEAKER_01

To where you can't openly do like a open fire show, which how they were um they have to have a fire chief on site and a fire like engine on site in order to do that.

SPEAKER_00

Makes sense.

SPEAKER_01

Um, so now it's a paid show this coming weekend. However, I'm doing another weekend getaway.

SPEAKER_00

And to be continued on that, guys. So if you want to know what Gina did this weekend, you gotta listen to our regular show on Catchtrack Radio, The Lovely Ladies. Mm-hmm. Yes, alright. That's great stuff. Good information, definitely. So, what was the highlight of the whole Renaissance for you? What was like the best, you know, besides the food and you know, the extravaganza with the clothes, I'm sure.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, I loved getting dressed up.

SPEAKER_00

Didn't Matt dress up too? Oh yeah, we all dressed up. Yeah. Uh huh. I need to see these pictures. We all dressed up. That's awesome.

SPEAKER_01

Um, the shows were quite funny. Um comical. Comical, whimsical, like just kinda like nice.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Just maked you feel like you were sitting on the edge of your seat but yet going back in time.

SPEAKER_01

Um, yeah, I mean, I wasn't like, oh my god, what's gonna happen next? Oh, that would have been make I like kinda know like the formation of howmation of things and like I've been to them before. Okay. But the kids had so much fun. Definitely like day trips for that for kids.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, it's definitely worth it.

SPEAKER_01

It's worth it and it's affordable. Like we only paid for tickets. I think tickets were eighteen dollars.

SPEAKER_00

That's it, that's real that's actually cheap. That's really not.

SPEAKER_01

All you're doing is if you want, you could bring a cooler and pack it into your car. So you bring your snacks? Bring your snacks, pack it into your car. You can't bring it in, but you could leave.

SPEAKER_00

Right.

SPEAKER_01

They stamp you, nice, go out to your cooler, eat, and then go back in.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, there you go. That's like going to the beach on a good door.

SPEAKER_01

Whatever w whatever way you want, depending on like if you don't want to like go back and forth. Like, you could just buy food there.

SPEAKER_00

Um did they have fried dough?

SPEAKER_01

They did not. What? No fried dough.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, they needed meat over there. I'm thinking about all these things. The turkey legs. Okay, so javeling. Did they actually javel? Did they you know they do like that?

SPEAKER_01

They also teach you how to like swing a sword, they teach you how to like do a whip, and some of these like classes are free.

SPEAKER_00

Lasso's, right? It's like a lasso. Yeah. Oh, no kidding.

SPEAKER_01

And so it's very affordable for a day trip or a weekend trip.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

If you're coming from out of state or coming from like farther away from Connecticut.

SPEAKER_00

What was the furthest that you know of that somebody's uh from there? Did you know when they came in? Do you know?

SPEAKER_01

Some of these people that were performers came from New Jersey.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, all right. That's still not too bad.

SPEAKER_01

Not too bad.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah, yeah. You know, gas prices have come down just a little bit so we can afford it. In our budget, if you will. Yeah. Great stuff. I love it. I love it. So tell me what Matt wore. You you had this bustle and tussle of an opportunity.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, and Matt wore his kilt.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, really? That's a Scottish thing.

SPEAKER_01

Yep, but he was a Scottish warrior.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, oh, with the big black boots and everything. Oh, that's pretty cool stuff. Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Yep, he was like a medieval Scottish warrior.

SPEAKER_00

Very cool. Very cool. All right. Well, we'll look forward to pictures too, definitely. Yeah, I love this idea of I think how Halloween, I think you guys should dress up just like you did for this thing. Again, fast forward but not. Uh, yeah, definitely enjoying the summertime vibes here, you know, on the podcast with Gina and I. We're gonna continue on with our travels this summer. Uh she's going places, I'm going places. But if you want to go along with us, don't forget, like, subscribe, and of course, if you want to donate to the station, there is a donation box uh underneath the podcast as well. You know, $5 would get you a cup of coffee, maybe at Duncan or you know, Starbucks.

SPEAKER_01

Or maybe $20 might get you a little something, something.

SPEAKER_00

Something, something, something, Jen. Something extra. So we've got extra special stuff. At Starbucks. There you go. All right. Well, Gina, it's great talking with you again. Uh guys, if you're listening in on the podcast end, we really appreciate you. We've got lots of summer left, Gina, right?

SPEAKER_01

Yes.

SPEAKER_00

And we got lots more, a lot more places to go and uh to see and even feel, maybe even touch. And uh stay tuned for Catch Track Radio every Tuesday morning live with me. Me.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

Have a great day, everybody, and take care of one another.
