Hey guys, it's DJ Jazzycat back on Catch Track Radio. Got another great person of interest that uh definitely we've been talking a lot behind the scenes. Let's bring them in. Andrew Dean, how are you?

I am great. It is so wonderful to be with you. Uh just uh really uh what a treat.

What a treat. We've been talking about all kinds of great stuff. But we want to get down to the nitty-gritty, then we could talk a little bit about the foodie thing we were talking about before, right? Sure. Sure. You want to let our listeners know uh what you do, where you're located, and uh what's going on.

Well, that's a whole big old ball of wax there. Uh we do all we do all kinds of uh events and things. We travel a lot. Uh a couple years back in 19 states. Uh this year I think we're slated to do about 10 states, but we play all kinds of fairs, festivals, all kinds of different things. Uh I I write a variety of music, so we play in many different places, from churches to uh big club events to uh private events, as well as uh you know fairs festivals and all that kind of good stuff. But I'm very blessed to do a wide range of stuff from gospel to uh patriotic music. Uh I write uh country music, traditional style, and uh outlaw, uh just uh a real big slurry of stuff. Love it all. Um, but uh we reside pretty much in Florida when it's cold up north, and then when it's hot in Florida, we kind of migrate our way up where it's uh a little cooler.

So you're a snowbird, right? Is that what they call you guys? Snowbirds?

SPEAKER_02 1:39

Well, I don't look at like I'm any kind of a snowbird because I just don't do snow at all.

And I heard you do a lot of cooking. We'll talk about that in just a little bit. But uh traditional music has changed somewhat, but you're still keeping up with the times. Do you have any favorite genre? You mentioned many different that you do perform. Do you have any favorite genre that you like to play?

SPEAKER_02 2:05

Well, we do like I say, we do a wide range of stuff. I mean, I just did something, uh I I'm coming out uh in August. I'm coming out with a new CD. Uh I just came out with WOW, which is the way out west, which is very traditional. That is out right now. But uh midway through the year, we're coming out with a trap CD, which is more like your Jimmy Buffett style music, uh, sort of country fied. But uh there's a particular song on there. Uh we get to showcase our talent. Uh, I never knew what to do with it, and uh I play eight instruments on it, and my wife actually hopped in the studio and played three, and uh it turned out pretty cool. So I can't wait for for that particular one to get on out there and get heard. But we have to get through this project first, which has uh some amazing stuff on it. Uh I got to sing with uh a duet on there, uh, and it wasn't with my wife, and most people go, uh oh, well no, I asked her first.

I I think I know where you're going with this one, Georgette.

Yes, that's it. Yeah, and uh and I wrote the song, I presented it to Georgette, and she says, It sounds like a we can do this, that sounds great. So she graciously did it, and uh, it's called Never Told Me. And so it's it's uh it was quite an honor, really quite an honor to have such the princess of country music, after all, uh sing on on uh on that project with me.

So if folks don't know who Georgette Jones is, do you wanna uh Andrew, do you want to elaborate exactly who she is?

SPEAKER_02 3:34

Sure. She is George Jones and Tammy Wynette's daughter, only daughter, and uh actually they lived in Lakeland, Florida when she grew up, believe it or not. We're not we're about an hour away from there uh when we're in Florida, but uh she is a tremendous, tremendous talent. Sounds just like her mama.

That's awesome. What a blessing in this guy. So something about Entertainer of the Year, Vocalist of the Year, Band of the Year, Album of the Year, Singler of the Year. The list goes on and on. How did that even happen, huh?

SPEAKER_02 4:07

Well, you know, I I do a lot of different things. Uh I I not only perform music, I know I write music, but we also have a record label, Night Sky Records, where I promote other uh artists out. Uh I just love, you know, what I really love is seeing people succeed. Uh over and above myself, I love to see people succeed. I I root people on because everybody works so doggone hard at what they do, and uh I rejoice with them in their in their success. I truly do.

And it reflects back to the people that absolutely gravitate towards you because I could see that within your videos. Uh, I want to tell us a little bit about the farm machine.

SPEAKER_02 4:48

Yeah, the farm machine is a unique little thing. Uh it's it depends on uh on where we're going with uh with budget and things like that for particular jobs, but bigger jobs I pull guys out of Nashville. Uh I have uh grade A Nashville pickers. I have them uh as well on any recordings. Uh I have a set of uh fellows. But uh I can do regional things with regional guys. I can do if your budget's less, then you get a duet. That'd be my wife and myself. And if your budget's really cheap, you get a cowboy sitting on a stool, that'd be me.

I'd love it. It sounds like something out of a movie. Have you ever been in any movies before?

SPEAKER_02 5:28

No, I've been in an opera, but I haven't been in a movie. So uh that's pretty cool.

SPEAKER_00 5:33

That's uh I think that I think there's something in the works there for you. Sounds like a story that needs to be told on television.

SPEAKER_02 5:40

Well, that would be good. I'd be open to that.

SPEAKER_00 5:42

There you go. I think everybody would at one time or another, but I think your storytelling is telling everything you know, within switting down, talking to people, getting that music out there. Um so you said that the band members, each one of them is different. What kind of music influences do they have?

SPEAKER_02 6:00

Well, it just depends on on the style. Now, I I am a self-producer, I produce music. Uh uh all my stuff is the production is is uh on myself. So I wear several hats in the process. The process of the songwriter, the process of the song uh uh performer, as well as the okay, uh that's so good we can't use it. Even my own, sometimes my own work, you know, has to hit the floor. We have to do either better or cut that out and sound right, different placements of things. And then we get into the the label end of it, which is more into your uh distribution, uh getting it out, getting it heard, and uh and working on the the total uh concept and project uh overall uh presentation. So it's really a full scope of stuff that that surrounds the music. And uh we are we're totally encased with with doing all of that and committed. Our team is really committed to getting that done.

Well, I definitely again I'm seeing all of the positives coming out. So a little side note who's the funny person in the band?

SPEAKER_02 7:10

Well, that can be me at times. I can be so doggone serious I have to laugh at myself.

I mean, I mean, seriously, if you can't laugh in life, you know, you've got to laugh in life.

Absolutely.

It's the medicine that's needed, believe me.

So it's one of the longest projects that you've worked on thus far in your career.

SPEAKER_02 7:32

That would be my faith-based. Uh my faith-based project was a long process, and uh, I will tell you, uh, it was 17 years. So uh yeah, I got to uh I actually got to sing with my mother who's been gone for 16 years. Uh and uh she recorded some stuff with me, and so I got to sing with her. Uh she was a pianist, yes. And uh also uh myself, I got to sing with my younger self. That was kind of uh new and different. And uh I love it. Yeah, and also I have a keyboard, uh, a guy, a garland craft, who had done some early stuff with me, and he's been with me over all the years, and uh he uh got to play with his with his younger self, and he says to me, Andrew, he says, Isn't that me playing? I said, Yeah, he says, boy, he says, I've gotten better. I said, Yeah, you've gotten better with age, man.

Uh like fine wine, right?

Yeah, yeah.

Speaking of wine and beverages and things, we were talking a little bit behind the scenes about that grilling thing going on. Oh, yeah. Yeah, pretty cool stuff. I know you guys definitely have got that going on. Do you bring the grill with you when you go on the road?

SPEAKER_02 8:42

No, unfortunately, no. I I don't because I usually I have to, it's you know, if I brought a grill, I'd have to decide what guitar was staying behind, and I can't do that.

SPEAKER_00 8:53

You mean you can't multitask? Is that how it goes?

SPEAKER_02 8:56

I can't I don't have room.

A guitar is gonna have to stay home, and I would be really sad about that.

Nothing like getting out of the road and seeing the folks out there with their smiles as well, right?

SPEAKER_02 9:08

Absolutely, absolutely. In fact, that is that is probably the biggest thing uh with what we're doing, is uh whether it's an award show, whether it's a concert, whether you know, whatever it is, when you meet people and you you have new friends that come into your life, you connect with old friends to uh just seeing people, uh it's it marks your your very being. And and I'll tell you, that's where a lot of my inspiration comes from uh in my writing, uh from seeing and meeting people. Uh we've really been blessed with a lot of good people.

And they're all around everywhere you go. And then do they pee a lot of the folks do they travel to see you in different areas? Um they do. They they go to you go to different venues, but have you have you noticed that they kind of gravitate and they follow you like like a conga line-ish kind of if you will.

SPEAKER_02 10:00

Yeah, well, yeah, that happens. That does happen. And uh it's always good to see them, and I always I always thank them so much for their support coming out to the shows and buying stuff, the the merchandise, to you know, buying tickets for some of the events and stuff. Uh yeah, it's it amazes me and and yet humbles me that uh you know, but we work hard at what we do, and uh we just uh always pray to be uh be number one representing the good Lord above, that's for sure. Amen. All all the glory is his, believe me. Oh, I believe you. And our days our day always starts out uh any show that we do always starts out with a prayer that that God's will be done, and that if we're to bring happiness, that it it's glory to him.

Amen. I love that. So that man said, God is around us all the time. We always talk about you know how it makes us feel. I want to know if you have a song that's out there, what song gets the biggest reaction from folks while you're out there, whether you're opening or ending with it, what song would you say was your go-to song for that?

SPEAKER_02 11:08

Well, there's several songs that are there that way. Uh if I could, is one that's uh very impactive. Uh and that one I actually sat down and I wrote that in five minutes. Uh I just put the recorder on and played from uh I sang from my heart and played. And uh when I got done, Terry walked in. She says, You better have recorded that. And I said, I did. Jesus, that, yeah. And so that's uh that's kind of an emotional song. But uh the one there is a song. Yeah, it's out there for a song and a music video. My wife is yelling at me now. I told you she'd do this, didn't I?

She is, but she is she's everything, boy, to me. She's just what a what a blessing. And uh, anyways, I would say uh also one of the other ones is wanted a good time for all. If you really want to get somebody, the crowd up and going, that will do it. Uh it's a good song. I wrote it, believe it or not, uh back in COVID. And uh so I was sitting on the couch because we all were doing nothing but staying in our house. And I said, Boy, you know, I just would like to have a good time. And and so I says, I'm writing a song. And I wrote this song out, and it was one a good time for all. And that's that's uh pretty much the premise of that. But every every song has a story. I mean, it it truly does. And and even on the on the WoW project, the Way Out West project that that uh just came out, every song has a story. And the one I've got on there, it's a very traditional song. It's called Empty. And uh my 92-year-old dad sitting here yesterday, I played that for him. He goes, Wow, he goes, that's that's really that's that's real impactive. He goes, how did you ever? I said, you he goes, what do you mean? I said, listen to the words. When mom died, the house emptied. You lost the house, you lost everything. I said, you were the inspiration for that song. Wow. Yeah, so I mean, yeah, everybody, you know, everybody's got different inspirations and different ways of writing. Sometimes I could write about uh you know the beach and seagulls in the air and and having a good time to really getting down there and really getting serious about something. I I have a song that I wrote uh just the first of May. So I told Dad, I says, Well, listen to this. And I I did it, and uh he said he started to cry. He's like, That's how do you get through that? How do you where do you get that? And so I expressed it to him. I told him how and why, and and uh, but every song has a story. It it truly does.

And there's a song for everybody, like you said, too. I I agree.

SPEAKER_02 13:50

Absolutely. But you you know, Travis Tripp probably gave me the best information on that. Uh he said, you know, when you're writing, he says it's it's okay to write about things or specific things in your life, but keep it general, because somebody else is gonna put that that same song in their frame in their world, and and to make it relative, it's gotta be that way.

Yeah, and the people like the realism of it too.

Yeah, oh yeah.

Uh I probably would get a little more serious on the second one and say something like uh When You Say Nothing at All. Uh something that's got uh got a good love tone to it as well as uh as a good traditional route. Uh and then the third one, well, let's just call let's just say train train blackfoot.

Well, let's see. I have a good one right here in the town I'm in right now. It's uh the Fremont Amphitheater. We'll be there uh the second Sunday in July. Uh, but that's uh that's a real fun place. A lot of hometown people, some people that I grew up with to I even have some of my old babysitters show up, if you can believe that.

Well, what I really hope most of all is that they find a happy place to be in in life, that they find uh a fullness in their heart, and that they uh they know the Lord. Uh and I also uh would say to each and every one of them through the music, uh you know, I'm humbled, grateful, thankful for all their support for what they do, but most of all, the blessing is meeting them, knowing them, and experiencing life together and going through moments together. That's the blessing of it all.

That'd be perfect. I will tell you, Terry, we'll have to be in on that conversation because she's really the cooker out here. And uh good that girl knows how to cook now. So uh yeah, yeah, yeah. And I'll tell you what, you know, one of the other blessings, I have her on my recording a lot of times with uh playing percussion and things. I jokingly refer to her as oh one take because that girl gets in there, does it one time, it's done.
