Life Beyond The Sight Of Darkness
Life Beyond The Sight of Darkness was created for you — because I know what it's like to feel tired, unseen, and overwhelmed. I know what it's like to be stuck in a season that feels too heavy to carry alone.
I've been there. I've walked through blindness, trauma, and loss. I've had moments where hope felt impossible, where I couldn't see a way forward. And in those dark places, I learned something: God hasn't forgotten us. Even when we can't see Him, He's there.
This space — it's my way of reaching back. It's for the nights when you're hurting and don't know who to tell. It's for the days when you're just trying to survive. Here, you'll find honesty. No pretending, no perfect answers. Just Scripture, encouragement, and someone who understands.
Friend, I need you to know something: you're not alone in this. I see you. God sees you. And together — one day, one step, one breath at a time — we're going to find the light again.

A single question can change the course of a life. After years of sharing my story of vision loss, survival, and healing, a live coaching demo with mentor coach Cody Williams brought my calling into sharp relief: build coaching and community that help blind and visually impaired people live with independence, confidence, and purpose.
We trace how genuine coaching—curious questions, deep listening, zero judgment—creates clarity without giving advice. I map the three pillars at the center of this mission: independent living skills that make daily life workable and dignified, mobility and travel confidence that turn anxiety into freedom of movement, and communication and accessibility that equip you to self‑advocate at work, school, and home. Along the way, we discuss practical tools such as canes, screen readers, OCR apps, and routines, as well as the inner work of naming fear, reclaiming agency, and trusting that difference can still be beautiful.
This chapter isn’t just about my next step; it’s an open door. We’re keeping the podcast as a hub for stories, resources, and faith‑centered hope while expanding into one‑to‑one coaching and a supportive network for individuals, families, and professionals. If you’re losing sight, you are not alone. If you love someone who is, you deserve support too. And if you’re a practitioner or advocate, let’s partner to shorten the distance between “I’m overwhelmed” and “I’ve got this.”

This is an introductory audio segment for a show or podcast titled "Life Beyond the Sight of Darkness." The host, Robert B., warmly welcomes listeners and shares his mission: to support people navigating vision loss or trauma by helping them find hope, purpose, and confidence. The tone is friendly and encouraging, emphasizing that no one should have to face darkness alone. The segment ends with an inviting call to action: "Grab your Joe and let's go."
I know exactly the sound you mean. That "shimmering" ambient electric guitar, soft organ pads, and a gentle piano that just breathes with the speaker. It’s that deeply spiritual, reflective atmosphere that invites people in. I’ve dialed in that specific Altar Call feel for you. How does this one resonate?

SPEAKER_00What happens when God clarifies a calling you've been carrying for years? What happens when your vision suddenly comes into focus? What happens when you realize the podcast was just the beginning? Today's episode is going to be quite different. Today I'm not just telling you my story. Today I'm inviting you into the mission. If you've been with me through all nine episodes, you know my story. You've walked with me through being born with visual impairment, childhood trauma and homelessness, nearly dying from heart disease, divorce and finding real love, and the reconciliation with my father that brought everything full circle. But what I haven't told you yet is what comes next, because this podcast is just the beginning. Today I want to share with you a moment that changed everything, a coaching session that brought clarity to a calling I've been carrying my whole life. And I want to invite you, yes, you, to be part of what God is building. So grab your coffee, friend. This one's about the future. Let's go. A few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to participate in a live coaching demonstration with a mentor coach named Cody Williams. I volunteered to be the client, and honestly, I didn't know what to expect. But what happened in that session changed everything. Cody asked me a simple question. What would you like to be coached on today? And I shared with him what's been burning in my heart for years. I want to support blind and visually impaired individuals. I want to walk alongside people who are newly blind or losing their sight. I want to help them navigate the emotional, practical, and spiritual challenges of blindness. Not with quick fixes, not with advice, but with long term support, with someone who understands, with hope. As Cody asked questions, really good deep questions, something started to happen. My vision, which had been swirling around in my head for years, started to crystallize. He asked me, a year from now, how would you like to be impacting people's lives? And I said, I want to help them live independently, confidently, with purpose. I want them to know that blindness doesn't mean their life is over. It means their life is different, and different can still be beautiful. He asked, What are two or three skills that would make the biggest difference? And suddenly I could see it clearly. Three core areas one, independent living skills, learning to navigate daily life with confidence. Two, mobility and travel confidence, moving through the world safely and independently. Three communication and accessibility, expressing needs, building relationships, advocating for yourself. There it was, clear as day, the roadmap I'd been searching for. But here's what blew my mind. Cody didn't tell me any of this, he didn't give me advice, he didn't hand me a plan. He just asked questions. He listened, he reflected back what he heard, and in that space, that safe, curious, compassionate space, I found my own clarity. That's when I realized this is what I'm called to do. Not just tell my story through a podcast, but walk alongside people. Listen to them, ask them questions, help them discover their own strength, their own solutions, their own path forward. Coaching is the vehicle for my calling. Friend, can I tell you something I've learned? People don't need to be told what to do. They need to be heard. When we truly listen, deeply, fully, without judgment, people reveal their fears, their struggles, and their strength. They don't need us to fix them, they need us to see them, and they don't need us to have all the answers. They need us to believe they can find their own answers. And when we create that space, magic happens, clarity comes, confidence grows, movement begins. That's the power of coaching, and that's what I want to offer to the blind and visually impaired community. Let me share with you the philosophy that will guide this work. I believe people living with blindness or vision loss already carry strength, wisdom, and resilience within them. My role as a coach is not to fix, advise, or direct, but to walk alongside, listen deeply, and create space for clarity, confidence, and forward movement. Coaching is about empowering individuals to rediscover independence, build resilience, and live meaningful lives, one step at a time. Through compassion, faith, and intentional listening. I help clients navigate challenges, uncover their own solutions, and move forward with purpose and hope. That's it. That's the heart of what I'm building. Not a program that tells you what to do, but a partnership that helps you discover who you can become. Through this work, both the podcast and my coaching, I focus on three core areas. One, independent living, learning to navigate daily life with confidence, cooking, cleaning, managing your home, using adaptive technology, building routines that work for you. You don't need sight to live independently, you just need the right support and tools. 2. Mobility and travel. Moving through the world safely and independently. Using a cane, navigating public transportation, learning spatial awareness, building confidence to go places on your own. Mobility is freedom, and freedom is possible. 3. Communication and accessibility, expressing your needs, building relationships, advocating for yourself in work, school, and social settings, using assistive technology to stay connected. Your voice matters, and you deserve to be heard. If you're blind or visually impaired and listening to this right now, I want you to hear me. Life without sight still holds purpose, still holds joy, still holds a possibility. Losing your sight or being born without it doesn't mean losing your life. It means learning a new way to live, and you don't have to figure it out alone. I'm here, this community is here, and we're going to walk through it together. So what does this mean for life beyond the sight of darkness? The podcast continues. We're going to keep sharing stories, interviews with blind and visually impaired individuals, resources, encouragement, faith-centered hope. But we're also expanding into coaching, one-on-one support for people who want personalized guidance, someone to walk with them through the challenges, someone who understands. We're building a community, a place where blind and visually impaired individuals and their families can connect, encourage each other, share resources, and find hope. And we're trusting God's provision. I'll be honest, there are financial challenges, there's a lot to learn, but I'm committed day by day, step by step, trusting that God will provide what's needed when it's needed. Here's where I need you. If you're blind or visually impaired and you need support, reach out. Let's talk. Let's see if coaching is right for you. Let's walk this journey together, eh? If you're a family member of someone losing their sight, reach out. You need support too. Watching someone you love lose their vision is hard. Let's navigate it together. If you're a professional working with the blind community, let's connect. I'm learning, I'm growing. I want to partner with experts, organizations, and advocates who are already doing this work well. If you just want to be part of the community, join us. Facebook group, email list, Instagram, wherever you are, we want you here. Because no one should walk through darkness alone. Please allow me to pray over this new chapter. Father God, thank you for the clarity. Thank you for the coaching session with Cody that brought focus to what you've been building in me for years. Thank you for this calling to walk alongside blind and visually impaired individuals, to offer hope, to create space for growth. I don't have it all figured out, Lord. But I trust you. Provide what's needed. Open doors. Connect me with the right people. Use this work for your glory. For everyone listening who is blind or losing their sight, remind them they are not alone. You see them, you're with them, and there is hope. Bless this ministry, bless this community, bless everyone who joins us on this journey, in Jesus' name, Amen. Proverbs twenty nine eighteen says, Where there is no vision, the people perish. But friend, we have vision. Not physical vision but spiritual vision, a vision for what's possible. A vision for independence, for confidence, for purpose, for hope. And with that vision we will thrive.
