Week 11, episode 10.  Beergarden edition.  Prepared? Nope.  Informational and entertaining? Si, that means yes.

SPEAKER_00

Howdy y'all. Welcome to what is this? I think this is episode 10. Week 11. Is that what it is? Yeah, yeah, it's gotta be episode 10. I'm about to check Spotify. It's gotta be. It's gotta be episode 10. Hold on a second, folks. We're trying to get this um squared away here. We were not prepared. No. If you hear background noise, that's because we are on the patio at the brewery during downtime. Andrew, hold on, just a minute. Uh yeah, we're on the back porch. Yes, okay. Episode welcome to episode 10, week 11. Yes. Saturday edition. Like I said, we are here at the at the brewery sitting on the back porch. So if you hear some background noise, bear with us. But we're considering switching the time of the podcast to record on Saturdays. Which is exactly what we're doing right now.

SPEAKER_02

But you'll still get your weekly updates on Monday.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, yeah, yes. Yeah, the updates post that we do on social media, follow us uh Facebook, Instagram. That's not gonna change. That's gonna go out every Monday. Tuesday at the latest.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

So all right. Well, I'm I'm owner and head brewer, Clayton Goens here with The Man, the myth, the legend. Uh, the pirate ship, Captain Chef Gandhi. There you go. Yes, so welcome to episode 10, week 11. Now, let's get into it. Al Jabira reporting on the middle yeast. Yeast. Which, funny enough, we don't have too many specifics because um It's Saturday. It's Saturday. And we are on, we're on low. We are on low. We were open last this previous Sunday for our Sunday fun day. It was a huge success, so shout out to the brick streeters out there. Thank you for showing up. I didn't have hardly any leftovers. No, and that's amazing, y'all. Y'all um, y'all enjoyed that food. You enjoyed the barbecue chicken. Um shout out to Jared Block for supplying the um the smoker. Yep. It's great. We're looking forward to doing the next one, honestly, because this one was was was successful.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And so we are now looking forward to it. We're looking forward to the next one. It's every third Sunday. Oh no, I got it. No, I got it. Oh, oh yeah. It's every third Sunday, so that would be April 13th. 18th. 18th. Yeah. No, no, excuse me, folks. April 19th.

SPEAKER_02

April 19th?

SPEAKER_00

So exactly a month from la now. Yeah, April 19th. Yeah. Gary Harper will disagree. He'll say it's not that much. Yeah, but it's not. It's April 19th. Yeah. So the next Sunday, Funday, April 19th, we will update you with what we're going to be doing that day. We're going to do something super fun just like we did last time. We've been brainstorming a few ideas. Oh, yeah, we got some great ideas. So it's and for some updates in the brew house. Um, I do have something interesting. So we did a cold beer. The the cold beer that I did, I brewed this past week that's going to replace the one that's going out now, right? It's going to be the new batch next week. And they're drinking it. Oh, yeah, they're loving it. So it's the same recipe, right? It's the exact same ingredients. It's the Tetnanger hops, right? But I'm increasing the Whirlpool edition by eight ounces by half a pound. Okay. Now, what that should do, what I'm betting that it's going to do, it's going to increase the that that really lovely German hop floral character. It's going to just jack that up. Thanks, Andrew. It's going to jack that up without increasing the bitterness.

SPEAKER_02

But it'll be crisper. About about this, right? You're not changing it.

SPEAKER_00

The crispiness will be about the same, but it's going to have more aroma and more flavor.

unknown

Gotcha.

SPEAKER_00

In theory. Yeah. So that's an update. Be on the lookout for that. Fresh batch of the new and improved cold beer, as I mentioned, coming this coming week. Also, fresh batch of crude dude. So everyone who drinks crude dude, everyone just calm down and relax. They'll come back. Coming back. It's like any Marvel character. They're not dead. They'll come back. They're coming back, so calm down. Yeah, that's exactly right. Yeah. This is the uh multiverse of beer. It will come back. They'll come back.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

So that's that's what we got going on. Um we're gonna continue to bottle. I'm experimenting with different with different pars on bottling. Meaning that's why, you know, I'd I'll I'll only do like maybe one brand a week. I'm I want to see where my demand is. So uh as I said, keep an eye out on that weekly updates to see what I'll be bottling. We're gonna continue the bottling rhythm of every Friday, either bottle on Friday or Saturday. It's less stress on you. It works out better for the schedule of the brew house. It allows me to get beers transferred, get them carbonated, get them conditioned. It allows me to brew if I need to. Yeah. Just it's the way to do it. And also, Mud Club members, pay attention, shout out, watch, and be on the lookout on socials. I know we collected everyone's emails, but we're probably not gonna email you. Yeah, because we we we try so hard. Yeah, we're probably not that probably won't happen. So you'll hear about it. We're gonna set up a uh an Excel spreadsheet. Well, no, sorry, the kids, it's a Google Sheets. A Google Sheets. Excuse me. We're gonna set up a Google Sheets where we can y'all can sign up to help volunteer for bottling day. Yeah. Which I think is gonna be really fun. Yeah. And then what we'll do when we get that started, it'll be in the next couple of weeks. We're gonna try to get that started pretty quick. When we do that, we'll do it on Saturday morning. So y'all will have to get here at probably nine or ten. And we'll get started. Someone, like, I'll operate the bottling guns. I don't trust y'all.

SPEAKER_01

And then uh and then y'all cook y'all's own breakfast.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. And I'll watch. So I'll operate the exactly. I'll operate the bottling gun, but then someone can do the crimper, someone can do the press, where they actually press the cap on, someone can put the label, somebody can package them. It'll be called mugging a meal. So you're um you'll get one mug one mug on the house and any menu item on the house. Okay. That's how we're gonna do it. For uh, that's how we will pay you for your labor. That'll be fun. Be on the lookout for that. Trying to think. Oh. Sneak peek. Dropping it now. I admit y'all have heard me mention it in the brew house. We're building towards a really large physical merch drop. Alright? What do I mean by that? What I mean is physical shirts in store for you to buy. There is one caveat. This is the last time I will make this attempt of having merch in the merch. So let me just let me just let y'all know. If y'all want, which a lot of y'all are always hassling me about this, if y'all want hats and shirts and all this stuff, then when I have them in the store, you have to buy them. Because if you don't buy them, I can't buy them, then I lose my ass. And I'm not losing it again. I've already lost it multiple times on merch. Um, I understand why I did in the past. The merch wasn't that great. I get it. That that is a fair criticism. I will accept that. But the merch we have now is extremely high quality and really fun, really unique. They're great, comfortable shirts. Oh, they're great. 100% cotton comfort colors. The designs on the shirts are great. Now, let me go ahead and preempt the next question. The shirts will have the graphics on the front. They will not have both front and back. And that is simply because of cost. The cost of doing a front and back for my supplier that I use goes up almost $10 if you have two prints. So the shirt goes from $24 to $30 or $31. Yeah, but who knows in the future if sales show up on that's right. If that's very true. If this initial merch drop works and y'all actually call my bluff and buy the shirts, maybe we'll design a couple of shirts that are front and back. They are known to call you bluff. No, no, no, they'll do it. They'll bully me.

SPEAKER_01

They'll bully me too. Yeah. Gaudi, uh, why don't you have ranch? I don't want ranch in my kitchen. Took a year. And now I have ranch. Got to make it. We need to get a dispenser on the wall. I am gonna put a dispenser on the wall. Oh my god. Cost you a nickel. Oh, Jesus. Like Aldi. You want ranch? You put the nickel in to get your card.

SPEAKER_00

Holy shit. But yeah, so that's pretty much the stuff that y'all that be on the lookout for that. My goal is in the next couple of weeks. It's coming very soon. This merch drop is on its way. I'm very excited about it. We're gonna redesign. We're gonna redesign the front area. Yeah, we're gonna redesign the front area so we can have the shirts hanging on the wall for you to see them. Yeah. It's gonna be a lot of fun. We're gonna do, I'm gonna unveil it now because why the hell not? What else are we gonna talk about? Uh there's nothing going on in the Strait of Hormuz or anywhere out east. There's just nothing in the world. Everything's pretty boring. Oil is low. India is Pakistan. Yeah, India hates Pakistan. Gas prices are low right now. Like there's just nothing going on, right? There's nothing going on, so we might as well just badger on.

SPEAKER_01

We're on solid ground right now.

SPEAKER_00

No, I'm bored. Just badger on about nothing. So we're gonna turn Thursday nights when we do this merch drop, and I don't have a date yet, but it's very soon. It's gonna be called merch night. So the way this will work is if you're wearing Brick Street's brewery merch, and we will honor existing merch that we that y'all have already bought in the past. Mug Club shirts, the original shirts, whatever. If you're wearing any birth uh Brick Street's brewery merch, you get a dollar off beer pours and glass of wine. Yeah. All night on Thursday, four to close. Okay. Also, the merchandise that's for sale, both in store, because we'll have it in store, and on the website, is a dollar off. Thursdays, four to nine. Merch night. So be on the lookout when we lock that. Uh when we launch that and actually start to do it. I think it's gonna be really fun. Yeah. Those are pretty much the big announcements. We're still rolling with stubbies. Be uh check the updates post. That's all I got for the guys. That's a lot of information. Oh well, no, there is one more thing. The next seasonal, I'm gonna do it. We're gonna do downtown Brown. We're gonna resurrect downtown Brown. That's one of the OGs. That's one of the first beers we ever made here. We're gonna bring that bitch back. Part du. Part due. Mm-hmm.

SPEAKER_02

And I want to thank everyone who came out yesterday for the enchilada night.

SPEAKER_00

Yes. Shout out to Chef Gandhi and Plate Night. Shout out to the Brick Streeters for Friday night special. Seriously.

SPEAKER_02

The next not next week, but the week after, I will do stakes again.

SPEAKER_00

Steaks are coming back, guys. We're gonna get that on a regular rhythm. We want to get a we're not sure about how the rhythm will work yet, as Chef was just mentioning.

SPEAKER_02

We'll have him back.

SPEAKER_00

100%. 100%. We launched a new menu. We have to do the new menu. Yeah. And we want to try and we're man, he's got so much fun stuff we're gonna be doing on Friday Night Special. Oh yeah. So yeah, shout out to y'all. Thank you so much for coming out. Yes, it was a hit. I have one order left. Oh yeah. That it's just amazing. We had fun too. I mean, it was uh it was good to have Issa back from Uganda. She was visiting, um taking a break from her warlording.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Come visit, which was great. She worked out a lot. It is a beautiful day. It is it is a nice day to be on the patio. Well, I think that concludes Al Jabira. So now I've mentioned it before, but I'm gonna mention it again because I just got it in the mail again. One of my first rants I ever did on this podcast. Oh okay. Uh huh. So I just got my annual letter from the state of Texas. Now I want y'all to imagine something. Okay, just imagine. Imagine you get a letter from the state where the state, first of all, let me back up. They have your business name and address to mail you this letter. That's number one. And then the letter contains a form that you are required to complete by putting your name and business address on the form and sending them a $75 check.

SPEAKER_02

So you have to pay $75 to make sure you exist. That is correct. Even though they know you exist. Correct.

SPEAKER_00

Tax dollars, y'all. You do not hate your government enough. It's just We are not a crook. No, it's just bullshit, man. It is such bullshit. And look, it doesn't it don't make a hill of beans. It's $75. But it's the it's the It's the principal. God. You know, you've got my address. I exist. I'm filing sales tax every month. Yeah. I'm operational. Send me a letter if all of a sudden I stop paying sales tax and it's like, okay, like maybe he's not open, but you know what? Just but what do we know? Oh no, we don't know anything. Oh, we don't know anything. That's number one. We don't know nothing. I sure don't know shit about going on in the Hormuz right now.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I'm I'm pretty sure nothing's going on over there. No, it's pretty calm. It's just a great vacation spot.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I was um I'm glad you brought that up. I was actually. There's this interesting little tip that juts out off the Arabian Peninsula right there. And it's really interesting. Oman actually controls it. I was actually looking to um book a hiking trip on that little into that peninsula right there. Great time of year to go. Oh yeah. Uh flights are cheap. Yeah. Very quiet. Yes, there's not yeah, it's very yeah, no, no, exactly. Like it's very nature oriented. There's nothing going on. You get to see the people. Really good fishing.

SPEAKER_02

Yes.

SPEAKER_00

Some of the best fishing in the world right there. Can't wait to get out on a boat.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Do some fishing. You know? Um there's definitely no way that goes wrong.

SPEAKER_02

No, I mean, no. I mean, prices are airline tickets are so cheap right now. Going there specifically. Yes, specifically there.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, they're very cheap. Spirit Airways. Yeah. I literally booked a fishing guide in the Strait of Hormuz for five dollars. That's how cheap it is to go fishing. Five American dollars? American dollars. Okay. Greenbacks. Greenbacks. Five dollars to go fishing in the Strait of Hormuz right now. Or you could have used some shekels. Yeah. Mm-hmm. Trying to get Yeah. Well, I think that pretty much concludes it, y'all. Yeah. Yep, we've uh we'll wrap it up. We're gonna try, we're gonna mess around. Look for the podcast to launch on Saturdays more regularly, and we're gonna build to actually be on time. Be on time and incorporate more things into it as well. Like more kind of segments and kind of have some more.

SPEAKER_02

We're just doing this on the fly, y'all. No notes.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, we're doing this on the fly, and we're looking to incorporate and make Saturdays a little more fun. We'll get through Algebira and then actually start incorporating some kind of more fun segments. We'll have a guest in a few weeks. Yeah. Well, thanks for tuning in, y'all. We'll see you in the brew house. Take care.
