In Episode 6 of The Henry Legacy Podcast, the siblings open up about their incredible journeys through international competition, USA team trials, and major recruiting milestones—all while staying grounded in family, faith, and their Polynesian heritage.

Seini Henry takes listeners through her historic trip to New Caledonia, where she represented Team Tonga in 3x3 basketball and helped the team go undefeated (18-0) to qualify for the World Cup in China—a first in Tongan history. She shares the challenges of playing three games a day with sparkling lemonade as hydration, losing her luggage in Australia, and drawing motivation from hearing her grandparents cheering in the stands. Seini also reflects on how competing in FIBA rules—unlimited fouls, no coaching from the sidelines—forced her to develop her basketball IQ and leadership under pressure. The experience taught her gratitude, exposed her to a completely different way of life, and gave her confidence heading into her upcoming season with Ohio State Women's Basketball.

Chris Henry Jr. shares updates on his summer training at Ohio State, including the intense workouts with Coach Mick and the strength staff preparing him for fall camp. He also gives a behind-the-scenes look at Elite Week, where he trained alongside NFL athletes, competed in a pickleball tournament (and claims MVP despite losing), and networked with pros like CeeDee Lamb. Chris discusses how he's continuing to attack every day with a growth mindset, battling through adversity, and staying focused on his goals as he gears up for his season with Ohio State Football.

Demarcus "Bubba" Henry delivers the episode's most emotional moment as he recounts his grueling USA Basketball U18 team trials in Colorado. Fighting through a severe illness (fever, no appetite, asthma complications, and high altitude), Bubba refused to leave tryouts despite his mom begging him to go to the hospital. After making three rounds of cuts while barely eating for a week, he earned his Team USA jersey and competed in Mexico, bringing home a silver medal. Bubba also announces his top eight schools and reflects on being ranked the #3 player in the country. He makes it clear: he's not satisfied and believes he's the best player in his class. With 29 Division I offers and counting, Bubba is laser-focused on reaching the NBA and becoming the #1 pick.

This episode also dives deep into:
• International basketball experiences: Competing for Team Tonga and Team USA, navigating language barriers, FIBA rules, and cultural differences
• Family sacrifice and support: Nana and Papa traveling to cheer courtside, smuggling Powerade, and securing passports for the Tongan team; Mom nursing Bubba back to health during tryouts
• Mental toughness and resilience: Pushing through sickness, adversity, and high-pressure recruiting moments with relentless determination
• Polynesian pride and heritage: Representing Tonga on the world stage and making history as a small Pacific island nation
• Recruiting insights: What top programs are saying, how Bubba is narrowing his list, and what factors matter most in his decision

SPEAKER_01

Like always, we appreciate y'all for tuning in. Make sure y'all like, comment, and subscribe to stay up to date with you know everything.

SPEAKER_03

Get into it.

Saying One Nice Thing Each

SPEAKER_03

Before we get into the episode, we're gonna just say one nice thing, like we did in the last episode, where each one of us goes and we just say one nice thing about each other. So I'll go first. Um one nice thing that I'll say about Man Man. Um I'll just say like his uh mindset and his journey since he's been in college. Um I'm very proud of the way like you're handling yourself and you go about every day. You go about every day, you know, uh getting one percent better every day and all of that about you. And you know, I'm proud of you. You know, keeping your head up and yeah, I'm just so happy. I like, yeah, I'm admire I admire your uh the way you go about every day, you know.

SPEAKER_01

Thank you.

SPEAKER_03

You know, thank you. Love you. Oh, now it's you. One nice thing, I'm not gonna cry this episode, you guys. So yeah. Uh one nice thing that I gotta say about Bubba is like I said, same thing with Mamma and like um everything has blown up w for you so short, so fast, and I just admire like even though like you you're blowing up like you're already in top three, you still attack every day like where you were eight months ago. Like, you know, you attack it like you still got something to prove because you do, and I admire that like you still attack it like you know, every day, you know. Always in the gym every hour, and you know, proud of you guys for that. So yeah, appreciate you around.

SPEAKER_01

Um one nice thing I got to say about Boa, um, is really like Sandy said, his mindset. Um I feel like, you know, he just got that that killer mindset, and you know, I I I love that about him, because he know he knows what he wants, he's gonna do whatever he needs to do to get it done. And one nice thing I got to say for Sandy is that she is a great cook.

SPEAKER_03

Oh my gosh.

SPEAKER_01

And uh she's a great photographer and yeah, she's really good, and she's a great sister. Like, that's three things. Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Nice, you got three things. A photographer, cook, and sister. You said sister last time. I'll take the photographer and cook.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, that's me though. Alright, one thing about Sandy is she know I'm gonna keep it short and simple. She like uh before you start boo-hoo calling. No, no, no. She very high spirited. You said that last time. I'm keeping it short and simple, and I read what it is.

SPEAKER_03

So yeah, it's very it sounds like he hasn't running out of things to say about me.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, right now. Yeah. He was short and sweet. You know, one nice thing about him, you feel me? He faced adversity head first, you know, battle through it, and you know, he just find his way to college, and you know, I'm just proud of him for doing that. You know, it's not hard to just be uh so young going into college and just trying to dominate, and he's doing that at a high level, so I'm just proud of him for doing that.

SPEAKER_03

Not sure.

SPEAKER_02

It's not easy to do that for sure. Congrats on your uh killing and Donga. Yeah. Proud of you. Thanks. I know that you had that in you.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I learned it for me, my little aspect.

SPEAKER_02

I taught her a little move.

SPEAKER_03

As soon as I did it, as soon as I did it, I literally sent it to my.

SPEAKER_02

Send me the clip. Look just like me. But as I feel like a good teacher.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, as soon as I did it, I was like, I'm finna hit this move for Gubla. And I just thought of him, and my inner bubble came out.

SPEAKER_02

You feel me? And the next move she gotta do is the tween, hezzy pull. That's the next step to it. Because they're gonna when you snatch, they're gonna come back up and then you go act like you go it and they're gonna go, and then you shoot.

SPEAKER_03

Okay. I'll be working on that.

Team Tonga Trip To New Caledonia

SPEAKER_01

You know, saying you just got back from New Caledonia, you know, how is that, you know, representing Tonga and you know, um, ultimately, like, you know, how was that experience for you?

SPEAKER_03

I think the experience was great. It was very good for me to get it was my first time like actually out the country, and just seeing how like outside of the basketball aspect, just seeing how like other people live their lives, it made me really, very grateful to be in America and um seeing what other people have to go through. But um, as far as basketball, um, it was really good. We went undefeated and we ended up qualifying for World Cups, which is in September in China. So it was it felt really good. And then Nana and Papa were there. It felt great um just having them on the sidelines, um, cheering. You know, Nana and Papa and old are old, and um, you know, they don't really get to travel as much, and just being able to see them on the sidelines, literally hearing them, gave me the motivation every game because we played three games a day and it was just like very a lot on our body because there was like no recovery spots. But I would say Nana and Papa like was my I wouldn't say recovery, but like was my motivation to like play hard every single game and win every single game because I would just hear Nana on the side like she was saying that bro, and then Papa over there cheering. And yeah, it was just a great experience being able to play for Ting Tongma and put on. Uh, but yeah, it was 15 hours ahead, the time difference was hard. But yeah, I I liked being able to meet new girls and um experience like a different lifestyle and experience how other people live. It made me very grateful too. Um very grateful for my life.

Food Struggles And Hydration Surprises

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. Alright, so you know you had to eat out there and all that. So like what type of food you were eating out there?

SPEAKER_03

Um in New Caledonia, it was like a lot of raw fish, a lot of fish, pork, and yeah, I don't eat pork, so that was already off the table to eat. And then um raw fish. I eat I eat raw fish, but not too much. I only eat um otang whenever Nana makes it. But I couldn't eat that too much. So my diet out there literally consists of just carbs, which is bread. Because in New Caledonia they speak, it's like a a lot of people they speak French, and I want to say like it's French colonized. So like um, yeah. It was just hard trying to eat over there. I didn't really eat any protein like that. I was just drinking, oh, and then their drinks, bro. Their drinks were all carbonated.

SPEAKER_02

So like soda.

SPEAKER_03

Yes, like the lemonade. Water? Yes. No, like yeah, the water. Bro, for our games, they would have sparkling water as like our drinks. So you're drinking soda or sparkling lemonade. Yes, bro. So I couldn't even drink. I yeah, like the my I did there was no like Gatorade, no electrolytes. So you're drinking lemonade to Yes, I was drinking lemonade after the game. If if Papa and Nana weren't there, I probably wouldn't have survived. Because like Nana, Papa went to a gas station and brought everybody pirates, because they had pirates. But that was like our only like source of electrolytes, and then like the water, they would have to go get it because everything that was given to us was either iced tea or sparkling lemonade. Yeah, it's just different seeing how other people live and like our snacks.

SPEAKER_01

Water is their norm, though.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, but are their snacks have regular water? They had regular water, but like a lot of their stuff was carbonized, and then like they would give us gummies like to snack on, like in between each game. So it's like gummy beers and like gummies and like carbonized lemonade, carbonized uh water in between games. Yes.

SPEAKER_02

So that's your hydration and that's sparkling lemonade.

SPEAKER_03

Yes, and it was like really, really bad. Not on papa was there. Yeah, and I don't drink soda, but bro, I had to like drink something. So after the after I got used to it, not on papa, like would bring like water and stuff, like I had to get used to bringing my own water, bringing my own like pirate and stuff, because if I didn't, like it was just a lot on my body. But yeah, and then yeah, but the food there was heart adjusting. But yeah, I got through though. Oh, I learned how to say merci, which is thank you. Merci, merci. Yep, yeah, merci, merci. And then like whenever, like everybody, whenever you walk by, like you know, like over here, like you'll smile or like you give like a little look, they'll be like, Bonjour, bonjour.

SPEAKER_01

Bonjour, bonjour.

SPEAKER_03

Bonjour, bonjour, merci. Yeah, bonjour, merci. I learned how to do that.

SPEAKER_02

Bonjour, merci.

How 3x3 Rules Change Everything

SPEAKER_02

So how do you feel like you played though, like overall?

SPEAKER_03

I feel like I played very well. Um, honestly, being over there, like um it was good for me. I feel I feel like I learned a lot about myself. I did a lot of things I like I didn't know that I could do. It's like yeah, I worked on a lot of stuff that I typically wouldn't be able to work on. Um, but yeah, it was good just being able to play against life competition thing on thing and just work on stuff that um I needed to work on against like live people because we had three games a day. But yeah, it's not a lot about myself and gave me like I would say like a lot more confidence in myself attacking this season, upcoming season.

SPEAKER_02

It was probably way different in college though. Because college is more structured. Yeah. 303, it's just like way different. Yeah. Space, you just isolate, but it's like continuous.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, 3003 i it helped with my stamina though. But it it it helps you like um with your IQ, I would say. Build your IQ because in FIBA, you you can't even have a coach. Yeah, like so like we have a coach, but we can't be coached.

SPEAKER_02

So y'all coaching ourselves.

SPEAKER_03

Yes, we're coaching ourselves. Like if we look to our coach on the sideline, we'll get a warning.

SPEAKER_02

So you was playing like the leader role.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. Yeah. But the girls, the girls, I I I like the girls because we all fed off each other. We all, yeah. It was good playing with the girls pick. The feeble rules are hella different than like you can foul unlimited fouls. Unlimited? Oh, yeah. I know y'all. Like you can like you can like grab your. I know y'all was doing that. Yeah. Like if you push, like that's not even bad. Yes.

SPEAKER_02

No tech.

SPEAKER_03

No, no. Well, there is a tech, but like there's a tech, but the foul is like 18 fouls. And you don't get to shoot until like the seventh foul.

SPEAKER_02

But yeah, somebody getting fouled.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Somebody's getting fouled.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, the rules are crazy in three-on-three.

SPEAKER_01

So what was it like playing against like, you know, competition that was like, could I speak English or not? Um trash and all that.

SPEAKER_03

The competition was actually good. Um, there wasn't a lot of teams there because a lot of the countries didn't meet the deadline to apply for FIBA. But the countries that were there, Fiji, I would say Fiji was the nicest team. The girls were very nice, but a lot of the countries I thought at first didn't speak English. So I wasn't really talking to the girls because I didn't think they spot spoke English. But um, there was Solomon Islands, there was Fiji, and um, what was the other team? Solomon Islands, Fiji. There was another team I can't remember. But those were two that spoke English. The only team that didn't spoke speak English is New Caledonia. And New Caledonia was a team like the other, it was us, New Caledonia, who were in like the top two, like the top two teams was us too. So we would always go at it. And it was one game, like I think it was like the second day, um, and we played New Caledonia, and it was like literally like we're fighting for our lives out there. Because it's like New Caledonia, it's their country. It's like their whole, like the stands was full of their people, and they're all screaming, but like we don't even know what they're saying because it's all in French. And then the girls are like, hella hacking, because in Phoebe, you can do like literally whatever. But I asked one of the girls, I was like, Do you speak English? Do you speak English? She's like, No English, no English. And I was like, okay. But yeah, but not it was it was just like whenever you're playing against each other, like you don't really speak. Like it's just like, okay, just play and be aggressive. But with Fiji and Solomon Islands, those teams I was able to talk. The girls were very nice. But yeah.

Lost Luggage And A Historic Run

SPEAKER_02

Speak on, like remember you told us you lost your bag, like what happened with that?

SPEAKER_03

Oh yeah, um, so I had went to Reno to train before I went to New Caledonia, and um my bag got checked to Australia instead of New Caledonia. So we connected, so we went from Reno to LAX to LAX to Australia, then Australia to New Caledonia. So my bag got checked from Reno to Australia, and then it got um it went to baggage came in Australia. So my bag got stuck over there. Me and another one of my teammates, Saney. There's two Saneys, me and her, our bags got stuck in Australia. So like we were without a bag for like two days, and thank God Nana and Papa were there because if they weren't there, and then you gotta think. This is like 25 plus hours of travel. So the first thing I want to do whenever I get there is literally shower. And I have no clothes, so I'm like freaking out. So thank God Nana and Papa were there because they just took uh me to the mall, and then we just got some clothes for me and Sainte, and then went home, took a shower, and then kind of was just like, you know, figuring it out for like a day and a half until our bags got there. But once our bags got there, it was cool, but I was stressed, I was overstimulated whenever my bag got there because I can't, yeah. I had to have my stuff, but yeah, we got it. Yeah, playing for Team Tonga, it was good. Um, we made history there. We went 18-0. This is the first time uh Tongga was um able to make it this far, or yeah, make it to World Cup in China. And um yeah, we went through a lot. My papa had to go to Tongga to go get passports for the girls, so we were all able to make it because if he didn't, we wouldn't have a team, so very grateful for that. And yeah, we made history being able to do that and making it to World Cup uh for the first time ever, and it only being the second year of Team Tongla. And if you know Tongra, or if you're familiar with it, it's just a small little island in the South Pacific, so it's really big for the island and um our people.

SPEAKER_02

So man, speaking on how Elite Week's going for you, just what's going on.

Elite Week With NFL Players

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, no, Elite Week is smooth. Um, you know, I got here um kind of towards the end of it. Um so you know, I didn't really get the workout or nothing, but you know, it's been smooth. To be honest, just you know, getting to interact with the guys, play some pickleball, like Micah, Derwin, and like Jordan and them. We lost to them, but it was alright. Hit it to the chip. It was cool.

SPEAKER_03

We made it to the chip against Micah and Jordan.

SPEAKER_02

But look, this is the game plan was hit it to Sandy. Yeah. Yeah, it's my first time. I'm telling Sandy, you gotta lock in. She not.

SPEAKER_03

But I didn't really have to hit it though, because you hit all the balls. So, like, really I couldn't. It was my serves that were selling, though.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, no, but they were hitting it to you. Like when I couldn't spike it, they were hitting it straight to you.

SPEAKER_03

It wasn't just me selling. It was my soul too sometimes. But I've looked practice.

SPEAKER_02

Nah, I used to play with my papa a lot, so I just I'm familiar. And you know, I'm really like competitive, so I was just locked down.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, that was my I'm him though.

SPEAKER_02

Like it's nobody could mess with me and pick a wall. Like, I definitely was MVP, even though they won, I'm MVP.

SPEAKER_03

Okay, anyways, continue your talk about elite week.

SPEAKER_01

Oh yeah, it's nice. Um just getting to be around, you know, all the NFL guys. Um yeah, it was cool.

SPEAKER_03

For anyone who doesn't know like exactly what Elite Week is, explain or tell them what like we're gonna be able to do.

SPEAKER_01

Okay. So Elite Week is, you know, it's just a it's a week, you know, in the summer where, you know, all the you know, athletes first, um you know, guys get together, we all get to, you know, work out, um, you know, do some fun things together, like bowling tournaments, like I said, pickleball tournaments, and just you know, just have fun with you know the all the guys in the agency. And so, you know, it's definitely a it's a great week. And the celebrity dinner was pretty cool. It's like a you know a a fundraiser for you know A1 and stuff. So, you know, it's it's all together a great week, like a lot.

SPEAKER_02

So that we're so how cool is it for you to be around all these NFL guys and this environment, just being around it? Because you're soon to be there, so like how speak on like Yeah, no, it's definitely cool.

SPEAKER_01

You know, I've been doing this for a couple years now since high school. So just being around these, you know, these um NFL guys, you know, as guys I look up to is great. Cause, you know, just starting to, you know, grow relationships with them and just you know, get to be able to talk to them, you know, call them like kind of like my big brothers or you know, some stuff like that. So it's definitely cool because, you know, just you know, getting to meet like CD E Lamb, just chopping the double them and it's like definitely cool for sure.

SPEAKER_02

So you've been at Ohio State for a minute now, so for a little bit. So how has the uh OSU summer workouts been going for you?

SPEAKER_01

You tell me.

SPEAKER_03

Oh my god.

SPEAKER_01

But nah, it's been good, I ain't gonna lie. Um, you know, Coach Mick and um, you know, the rest of the strength staff been getting me right. Um, you know, a lot of those guys deaf, but you know, as they definitely been they've been getting me right for sure, mentally, physically, all above. But nah, it's been good.

SPEAKER_03

Uh what do you have to plan for the rest of the summer?

SPEAKER_01

Um for the rest of the summer, just fall camp. Man, Hawaii.

SPEAKER_03

Yes, we're going to Hawaii next.

SPEAKER_01

Going to the beat.

SPEAKER_03

We're going to Hawaii. I'm at the beat. Alright, go to the book. Yeah, we're going to Hawaii and we're super, super excited about that. I'm ready for my picture. So yeah. Anyways, now your

Bubba Makes Team USA And Top 100

SPEAKER_03

turn, Boba. How is you were just in Mexico, you were just at USA Top 100, and some more stuff. Tell us about your experience with USA and then top 100. Oh, and being back in like the shot area, being able to see everybody.

SPEAKER_02

Oh yeah. Um, so try it out for USA. You know, I was grateful to make it. I made Team USA. We went in Mexico, came up short, got the silver medal, but you know, it was just a grateful opportunity to be on the team. And then right after that, I went to top 100. It's an MB NBA camp where a lot of NBA players there. You get to pick their brains on everything. So it's the best camp I've been to ever, you know, just picking all their brains, like they they're where I want to get to, so I'm just picking their brains every second uh I can. So just to be able to do that and just have a great time there, great competition, all the high level guys there, high level coaching. And then after that, I had section seven, just a little basketball event, so it was good.

SPEAKER_03

What were the tryouts like for um USA and the competition level? Because there was like that's like all the oh, and then you were playing up, right? Oh no, it's age group. Uh 18? You're 17.

SPEAKER_02

No, it's my age group.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, that's your age group, oh yeah. But how was it like playing against like the top kids and the competition level and tryouts and stuff?

SPEAKER_02

Um USA was great. It was great with like high level uh competition, like you said. There was a lot of like NBA scouts, um, college coaches just there watching us into tryouts, and you know, it was like probably the hardest thing I ever had to do. You know, I being there, I got really sick though. Like right when I got there, I had like a fever, my head was hurting, like it's a whole bunch of different things, man. I couldn't eat for like a couple of days when I was out there. You know, I just fighting through it. I was just trying to just make the team because it's one of the goals like I had in my mind that I wanted to accomplish. So I'm just going to the days, no food, no energy, and I'm just like trying my hardest just to like be stamped. Because once you make USA, you're basically stamped for life. So I'm just trying my hardest, fighting through it, and I'm just grateful God had my back and I was able to make the team. Yeah. And then we went to Mexico. You know, Mexico is different. Like I'd never been out the country. First time out the country, went to Mexico. It was way different, way different than how it is over here. Food is way different. You know, I'm a picky eater, so like when I was out there, I couldn't eat for the cook first couple of days. I was still sick. But my mom, she took me to urgent care when I was in Colorado, so I got medicine and antibiotics I could take. So I was feeling a little better going to Mexico. So I started to eat a little bit, but the food there I just couldn't eat it. So I was probably eating McDonald's.

SPEAKER_03

The tacos and stuff, right?

SPEAKER_02

We didn't eat tacos, literally. We were just eating the hotel food.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, damn.

SPEAKER_02

And it was just straight, like, I mean, it's good, but like I I'm not familiar with it. It's just like Yeah. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

So how was it like, you know, actually playing for USA and just going against like all these no top countries and stuff like that? I mean it's a it's a good experience, you know, representing your country.

SPEAKER_02

Hey, it's representing your country, like spigotstand. Just knowing you got a country behind you. You playing for them. It's great, you know. Coach by college coaches, so they teaching us things, new things that we need to work on and just things how to spit our game. It was way different though than regular basketball. They like space the floor. It's like a way spacing. You know what I mean? Like it's like straight spacing of floor. You know, two dribbles, like three dribbles, pass, or get to the rim. Quick decision making. It's like just way different. It's gonna affect my game though. So just really quick decision making.

Fighting Sickness Through The Final Cuts

SPEAKER_02

Be able to guard one through five, pick up ninety four feet, things like that. So it's just you know, different experience.

SPEAKER_03

Um how'd you feel whenever you got, you know, your USA jersey? 'Cause I know like you know how you have your like your um list of things, like your roles in USA was one of 'em. So how did it feel like being able to actually get your USA jersey?

SPEAKER_02

It felt so good. It felt so good to get it. Like I was so scared, you don't even know. Like the that was the scariest thing ever. What? The tryouts, like they get like just making a team. They did three cuts, right? So the first cut, they cut half of the people. Boom. Second cut, they cut like three, four people. And then the third cut, it's like they cut three more, two more, something like that. Boom, I'm just making the cuts. I called mom, like the second cut, I'm like, I made the second cut. She's talking about, oh, I'm gonna take you to the hospital. If you leave, if you leave, you're out. You can't leave the the the um like the facility. She keeps calling me, like, oh no, I'm taking you to the hospital. You too sick. You too sick. I'm calling her, I'm like mad. I'm like, bro, I'm not leaving, bro. Stop telling you this. Uh if mom wasn't there, I probably would have died. Literally. Because I didn't like care about my body. I was literally just like We know that she basketball literally comes first. Yeah, mom was going to the stores, like she if mom wasn't there, I definitely would have died, because I would have just been running, no food, no energy. Like I didn't eat for a week, and I'm just running. So I'm just strained. Like mom gave me food and stuff, because I could only eat yogurt, like things like that, like smoothies, and you know, I was just suffering out there. And then the cuts came and I'm like, I don't know if I did good enough. Cause you know, I'm not playing like the best I can. So the final cut came. Call mom. I'm like, mom. Mom pulled up. Mom pulled up and dropped me off yogurt like the morning of the cuts. And I'm sitting there, I'm like, mom, I don't know if I'm gonna make it. I don't know. I I ain't play good, like I ain't do as good as I can. She like, oh, you gonna make it. Mom prayed, prayed, prayed. And I text y'all, I'll text you.

SPEAKER_03

Mom, yeah, Bubba texted us literally in our like Arthur group chat. He was like, You guys pray for me. First thing we did was pray, and then mom, papa, they sent to like in our family group chat, like with everybody. Um, you guys pray for Bubba. Pray that he makes it see, pray that he gets healthy because Bubba was very, very, very sick. Like I was scared because Bubba has asthma too. So like that, and then the the um pre like the in Colorado the um the elevation too would affect him too. So like him being sick, then his asthma, then the elevation. We was all going through it. Bubba's the last person out of all three of us. We went sick. Yeah. When I get sick, it's bad.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. So mom, this is a last day of the cuts. I'm panicking. I'm like, mom, I don't know. I don't know. I don't think I did good enough. Like, I'm like, mom, pray, pray. She prayed in the car. I'm like, I just went through, boom. I was just like, then the cuts came, they put us in a room. It was like, like, like then they're like, like they just evaluating you like one by one in a room by yourself, three coaches just sitting there, just you, one, one chair, three chairs of the coaches, and you just sitting there. And then boom, the person ahead of me got cut. I was like, oh no. I went in there, they was like, man, you just we love how you play, and you definitely gonna make one of these spots on the team. I was just like, it was crazy. It was crazy. Did you cry? No, I didn't cry, but I called mom right after I was like, oh, I made it, I made it. I was like, that was crazy. It was crazy, I'm just grateful.

SPEAKER_03

And then after mom was able to take you to the hospital.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, and then I got pulled out of practice the day of, and then I went to the hospital, got antibiotics and everything, and then I started feeling better a couple days into Mexico. So that was good. Like, if mom wasn't there, I would you know how I get, like, if I I probably died on the court.

SPEAKER_03

Bubba, it it goes basketball first before anything else for him. Like, literally. I I know what she I would have probably died.

SPEAKER_01

So

Rankings, Offers, Top Eight, And Wrap

SPEAKER_01

the new rankings just dropped and you're officially ranked as a number three player in the country. You know how you feel about that?

SPEAKER_02

Oh, I feel good, you know, just like always, you know, I just like the work showing. And just being able to be number three in the country is just like a surreal feeling. But I just feel like I'm not satisfied where I'm at yet. I feel like I'm the best player in the country, like I said. And I'm I'm gonna get there. And you know, I'm just never like complacent, and I feel like I'm the best player in the country, so I'm gonna get there before it's all said and done for like all the high school rankings are done, and I'm just gonna get there. And it's just a due time. I'm gonna just keep my head down and keep working. Sir.

SPEAKER_03

Alright, Bubba. Um, you know, you're about to finish up your last year of UIBO. Um, it's about that time. Um, you know, where your recruitment is almost done. Um, how's your journey been and how many offers do you have total? I know that there's still more coming in, but as of right now.

SPEAKER_02

Um my recruiting journey is going great. You know, I've paid for it ever since I was young to be able to be in this position. So it's just going great, man. It's like it's a lot though. Like getting like 40 college coaches, it takes you a day. It's some crazy, like, I don't know, but I prayed for it, so I'm just grateful to have that problem. But yeah, right now I have twenty-nine, I think twenty-nine offers. And to be able to like be in this position, like, I'm just so grateful. So grateful, like, to ever I never thought I was like, you know, be able to just pick out of the schools like I dreamed of going to.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Like, and that's like grateful. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Today you're planning on announcing your top eight. You know, what are some things, you know? Do you want to like say anything to like all the schools that offer you?

SPEAKER_02

I just want to say thank you to all the schools that, you know, recruiting me. Just having one offer is a dream of mine. Just to be able to go to college for basketball. It's just a great opportunity. I just want to be um to say thank you guys for just believing in my talents and just like believing that I could play at y'all schools. But you know, I just gotta do what I gotta do and just uh narrow it down. But I'm just very thankful and grateful for you guys for always just reaching out to me and just letting me know how you think I'll fit at y'all's schools. But um I'm gonna lower my list to top eight. And I'll have my little sister, um, you know, just say my top eight. It's her.

SPEAKER_00

Hi, I'm Ofa, the younger sister. His top eight schools are Arkansas, BYU, Yukon, Louisville, Ohio State, Kentucky, North Carolina, and Kansas.

SPEAKER_03

Let's go! Let's go, yes, yes, period.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, but like, so like why these eight schools, like, what stands out about these schools to you?

SPEAKER_02

I feel like um these eight schools out of them are just like schools that I feel like could just help me pursue my dreams and just get me there, like, and just develop me the best to my abilities and just be able to help me reach the potential I uh I can reach. Right. And I feel like they just got a great program around them, great coaching staff. And just with them recruiting me, uh talking to all the coaches, man, like all those coaches at all those schools, they're just great people. And just I feel like um, just to narrow it down, those are like the best opportunities I have for me to reach the NBA. Whatever school you go to, give me the number one pick in the draft.

SPEAKER_03

I will be having my game outfits. Me and Ufa. Yes.

SPEAKER_02

Make sure I hit the link in my bio to let me know where y'all think I should go.

SPEAKER_03

Yay! Congratulations, Bubba, on your top eight schools. We're excited to see where you'll end up. And that's a wrap on today's episode, you guys.
