The 90 Day Book Club contains adult language and is meant for entertainment purposes only. Hello and welcome to the 90 Day Book Club. My name is Jen. I am your host. Today there won't be a book club corner at the end of the show. I'm just gonna do a really quick recap of the single life season five, episode 10. The art of cobwebbing. Another made-up word. Thank you, TLC. Let's get started with Vanya and Tony. Um, Vanya is still in Maine, setting up with her cousin Sanila. They're setting up her birthday party on the 4th of July. Vanya is breaking down everything that went on with Tony at the beach where they talked about Tony's behavior. Sanila says Tony's in his 40s. I would expect him to be better at communicating, which I found pretty funny because there's no world in which Tony and Vanya know how to communicate with each other. Vanya tells Sanila that Tony's bothered by the fact that Vanya tells Sanila everything. Um, Sanila says, then he's too sensitive. He should be able to take questions. Vanya says, I choose to believe that he's going to work on it. I wish you would give him a chance. She says that she's happy. She and Tony talked and she wants to see how things developed. Sanila is so not about this relationship. And I think we're all on Sunila's side. In her talking head, Sunila says, At the end of the day, I'm gonna be the one whose shoulder she cries on. And I want I'm trying to avoid that. Later on, guests are arriving at the party, and this looks like a pretty fun party. Um, she is, of course, dancing because she's Vanya and that's what she does. Tony, she's trying to get Tony to dance. He just he doesn't have an it, he doesn't have it in him. And here's a thought: I think Vanya needs a partner who also enjoys dancing and knows how to dance. But in his talking head, he says, ultimately, I'm glad I came. I love seeing the smile on her face. Uh, Tony has a surprise for Vanya. He calls it a surprise. It's really, he's just giving her a present. I'm not sure why he takes her into the guest room, to his little basement guest room to present her with two boxes. And Vanya says sparkles. And so I thought, what is why did she say that? And I looked up, there is actually a jewelry company called Sparkles. And so this is where these this jewelry came from: a bracelet and earrings. She's got a very specific uh aesthetic, Vanya, as we know. She's a bright, bright, she she's my bright summer sprite. I I love the Vanya, but her jewelry might not be 100% to my taste. But I went and looked at the site at Sparkles, and it's 100% Vanya. So I don't know. I think I think he did pretty good. Tony says it's his last night in Maine. So he wonders if maybe she can join him in the basement. She says, we need to set expectations, and he's confused. And Vonnie says, Celibacy has been the story of my life. She says it could be three months, it could be six months. And Tony's talking head, he says, that was not what I was expecting to hear. I just think if Vonny has been your friend for a while, she may have told you about her celibacy thing. I really think that's something that should have come up when you're entering into a new relationship, sort of right off the bat. But no, that's entirely too much to expect from these two. In Vanya's talking head, she says, I don't know what the timetable's gonna be. Boyfriend Tony and friend Tony aren't necessarily the same person. Okay, they maybe weren't friends long enough. So we cut to two weeks later. They're back in Orlando. Vanya says things have been going well. She says things have been roses and butterflies, and he's comfortable with my celibacy. Okay. I mean, I think I believe it that he's comfortable with celibacy, maybe, but I don't think anything is roses and butterflies with Tony, but you know, I have yet to see the butterflies and roses side of Tony. So Vanya and Tony are now going to a dance class. Apparently, she planned this special date because she's going on a two-week trip to Europe with Sanila. So they're going to a dance class in Orlando. Uh, it's Bachata. She says, I want him to have a blast before I start my trip. I'm gonna say, if you want Tony to have a blast, a dance class is not where I would bring him. It's very loud, very crowded. It would be I'm not great at dancing. I think I've talked about that. But this would be very overstimulating for me, and I can handle a crowd. I can handle parties, but Tony's clearly overwhelmed, overstimulated. He's stepping on feet, it's awkward. He is not having a blast. But Vanya's friends with the dance instructor, and of course, we know Vanya knows how to do all of it. Pachata, salsa, merengue, belly dancing, all of it. Tony, I think, was expecting maybe a little bit more of an intimate lesson where he learned steps and could repeat them over and over. That's a thing. I think if Tony is gonna dance, that's what he would need. Um, but immediately after this dance class, it turns into a big social dance situation. And Tony is, of course, overwhelmed by that. Vanya doesn't understand what his problem is. He said, I anticipated a lesson. She says, We had a lesson. He says, Not anymore. Now it's like going to a nightclub. I can't participate in something I can't do. And here is where I actually sympathize a little bit with Tony. I hate to say it, but yeah, this is not the fun, intimate environment I would hope to have on a night right before my partner leaves for Europe for two weeks. In his talking head, Tony says, We didn't come here to dance with random people. It does make me jealous. He says it's not respectful. I take a little bit of an issue with the word respectful. I think I don't really like the way that's used in this context, but I understand what he's saying. Um, Vanya, like very quickly, at the speed of sound, she's like, okay, if you don't want to dance, I'm gonna go dance with somebody else. Okay, bye. Uh like just not really communicating and sort of asking slash assuming Tony's okay with her just going picking another dance partner and just having fun and leaving him in the dust. So she does grab the hottest guy in the room. Honestly, he looks like a stock photo model, straight off a romance cover, big, bald, muscly, perhaps a motorcycle club romance, perhaps a security company romance or a bodyguard romance. If you don't read romance, you didn't know that these were all sub, sub, sub-genres, did you? Anyway, that that that's what this guy looks like to me. But Tony's, of course, immediately immediately upset. He cuts in and says, Can I can I dance with my girl? And the guy's like, Yep, sure. Okay. He backs off. Of course. The guy's very nice about it. Uh I think Tony was expecting a fight or something. Bonnie's upset. Vonnie's upset about Tony's reaction. He says, I thought you were gonna help me learn to dance. She said, You said you didn't want to dance. He said, I can't dance. So I just thought like we'd dip out. Now, here, I I mean, I I just wish Tony could hang a little bit and just enjoy himself. I think Tony has a jealousy problem, and I also think that he equates his girlfriend dancing with another guy in the setting of a dance class to be flirting or cheating or skirting close to cheating, which I don't see it that way. Tony clearly has jealousy issues, but at the same time, it's also true that Vanya was a little bit insensitive about his inability to dance. In her talking head, Vanya says he's projected his insecurity on me, and I'm not gonna stand for it. Um, so after the argument, she flounces away. Poor bald man is just standing there vibing. These two are just not good partners and they should break up now. Uh, let's move on to Kimberly. Uh, Kim is frantically rushing around looking for her glasses, trying to decide how how to hold her computer because she's about to go on a Zoom meeting. She's gonna have a little video chat with a guy named Wayne from Great Britain. She is so flustered. Um, so she's been chatting with a guy, he's English, about her age, divorced, a father. She calls him a handsome little guy. She loves his accent. He goes to the gym. He likes spending time with his family. He sets her up to talk about her son Jamal. Um, he he's really good conversationalist. Um, he has his own business. I even through the laptop, I can feel like the chemistry between these two a little, I think. I could be wrong. Kimberly says I could lie in bed all day and eat grapes and listen to him talk. Uh and then she wrecks everything by saying, How tall are you? And he grimaces. He says, Shorter than you, he's five foot six. She is five nine. She says the height should not be a big thing to me because there's so many other things I like about him. Yeah, exactly. Exactly. Um, so they pinky swear to have a coffee date once a week. I don't know. He seems sweet and genuine, but in her talking head, she says she feels happy. She feels like this might be my person. But do I want to invest time and money to go over to another country to have my heart broken again? I have to ask him, why are you in such a hurry? Just go to your coffee dates and see where it goes. But then we have a cute scene where she breaks the fourth wall and she goes to one of the camera operators, um, a woman who's a little bit shorter than her, and she's like, stand up straight. So she wants to compare her height to Wayne's height, and she she kissed the camera woman on the cheek to test it out. Uh, you could tell that she and the camera people, the production have a good relationship. Looks like they have a good rapport. Otherwise, this would be really wild. But you know what? I I like I thought it was funny. Moving on to Pedro and Sophie. Pedro's making her a latte and he gets an espresso martini because I guess it's breakfast again. I I don't know. She shows up, he says, How are you feeling? And she says, Intrepidatious, it's very overwhelming. So they're talking about the birthday party with Nicole. Pedro explains everyone was drunk, crazy and childish, even my mom. But we can resolve this. I want to be in harmony. We have good chemistry for real, and I want to know if you want to try again. Are you busy tonight? Sophie says, Well, being honest, there's someone I'm gonna meet today. You can see the dark clouds descending over Pedro's eyes. He says, That's a date. She says, It's not a serious thing. I'm single. I like talking to you and getting to know you. Pedro says, and instead of instead of spending time with me, you want to spend time with another dude. Pedro downs his martini and says, Go on your date. Enjoy. Thanks for letting me know. And then he walks off. Sophie says, I feel really bad because he wants something so serious right now. I hope I don't regret this later on. You won't. You won't. You dodged a bullet because you don't need Nicole and Lydia in your life. Uh and Pedro's talking at he says, She doesn't care about my feelings. There's two days left in this trip, and you'd rather spend time with someone else than me. Yeah. Yeah, because your family's crazy. Moving on to Liz and Via. Or she's just told him over drinks that um she's kinda sorta seeing somebody back home. I'm not buying the fact that he's actually bothered by the fact that she's kind of sorta seeing somebody back home, whom she told that she was going to be exploring being single. Like she's not committed to this guy back home. She hasn't made any commitments to Via. She hasn't actually done anything hurtful, but she says, I'm sorry if I'm hurting you, but I want to be open with you. And he says, I'm glad you told me. Wish you told me earlier. She says, I'm sorry. I'm tired of Liz apologizing to everybody. So far, I have yet to see her do anything actually wrong on this trip. Um, but she says, I have a great connection with you. I don't want to push you away. I want to see what could happen. Do you want to continue hanging out? Of course he does. Of course he does. Um, so she invites him back to the hotel. Anyway, they're hanging out by the little private pool outside of her room. Via says something from now on, I wish she could be more transparent. Mm-hmm. Okay. Via says, we're still in the DR. Let's make the best of it. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. She's very relieved to hear that. They start splashing each other. It's very cute. And he says, now I have to get you out of those wet clothes. And of course, they start kissing. She says, I am a little cold. So they go inside. And listen, I didn't hate, I didn't hate this scene. Did not hate seeing them make out on the bed. I'll admit it. Moving on to Gino and Natalie. Uh Gino's flying to LA to meet Natalie. Uh, not only does Gino confirm that he and Natalie had sex in Michigan, we did not ask. And he says, but it was rockin'. Come on, dude. He says it was better than anything he's had in the last four years. And that is direct shade on Jasmine because he cannot go five minutes without mentioning Jasmine or comparing his current girlfriend to Jasmine. But we find out that he's there in LA during the weekend of Natalie's daughter's graduation from cosmetology school. Bella, it seems, is not at all happy about this. But upon their meeting outside the hotel in LA, he hugs Natalie and kisses her a little too long in front of Bella, who already does not like him. I know what's coming, but it is clear already she does not like this man. Bella looks exactly like her mom, by the way. Gino says, I'm surprised to be meeting you. And she says, Bella says, I'm surprised you're even here. Uh Bella gets a talking head. She says, somehow he hijacked my weekend with my mom, and I'm not too happy about it. Um so she shows Gino where Natalie's luggage is, and he gets the luggage out. And, you know, Gino's so oblivious. He just goes on his Murray way, and Bella's like, Can you close that? The the hatchback that he left open. He says, I could. She says, You better. She's an later, Gino says that he thinks Bella has an attitude and is a bit rude. And a later talking head calls it major attitude. So Bella's getting ready to leave and she's holding Natalie's hand and saying, Call me if you need anything, anything. She's telegraphing the message to Natalie. Please ditch this man and I will come get you, even if it's across town. I will sit in LA traffic. I will steal a helicopter and I will come get you away from Gino. Please allow me to get you away from this man. Um, we get another talking head with Isabella. I okay, I like this girl. She says when she found out about the incident in Michigan, she was not impressed. Um, she says Gino has no backbone because he didn't stand up to Jasmine when Jasmine confronted Natalie. Not only did Jasmine confront Natalie, she pushed her from what I saw. But that really shaped Bella's opinion of Gino. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. She says, My mom has tried to convince me that he's changed, but so far I'm not impressed. Oh, okay, you know, we know Bella went back and watched every second of Gino on this show. Are you kidding me? If your mother or your friend or your neighbor that you even kind of like said, hey, I'm dating this guy on a reality show. Do you remember? Like it didn't go so good last time, but yeah, we're I I'm dating him again. Would you not go and scrape all of the media out there to find out literally everything about this man and form your opinion? Yes, Bella has done that. I guarantee she's done that. So later on that night, Natalie decides to take Gino to a strip club. She says it's a place we can combine both of your interests, sports and strippers. I mean, okay, right there. There's I have no interest in this man. Sports and strippers. What? Okay. Um she says to him, I would like to see you unleash the beast. Okay. This is the scene absolutely no one asks for. I don't have anything against strippers, but no one wants to watch Gino watch strippers. But anyway, Natalie gets a talking head and she says, Back in Michigan, we finally had sex. It was okay. I think he's a little shy, and I need him to unleash the beast. I need everyone to stop saying unleash the beast. Uh so Natalie gives him money to throw at the strippers because you know he's not going to throw his own money at strippers. So he's trying to do that move with the dollar bills on his hand, like swiping them off, and she has to show him how to do it. This would actually be endearing if it was anybody but Gino. Uh, so they get lap dances. He does the crazy, high-pitched hysterical laughter. Gino says, Jasmine would lose her mind if I looked at another woman, let alone get a lamp dance. Natalie finds it kind of hot to have a beautiful woman dancing on Gino. So back at the hotel, they're all horned up, and he jumps on the bed with his dirty, filthy loafers all over this very pretty two van. She says, Do you really need that hat? And he says, For you, I might take it off. He looks instantly so much better without the dumb hat. Next week, they go to a drag show where they're supposed to meet up with Bella. And apparently, Bella doesn't show. Apparently, she texted her mom's friend or her uncle saying she's not gonna come because she doesn't like Gino. I am looking forward to hearing much, much more from Bella. Um, next time we're also gonna get much more of Courtney and Fred and Jane. Looks like they're shopping for groceries and she's talking about cold coming back. Coming back from Brazil. She's gonna pick them up from the airport and help him get situated at the hotel. I don't like this. I don't like this at all. Fred and Jane are understandably deeply concerned about all of this, as they should be, as are all of us. That's the show.
