The 90 Day Book Club contains adult language and is meant for entertainment purposes only. Hello and welcome to the 90-day book club. I'm your host. My name is Jen. I am a romance writer, a reader, and a reality TV junkie with no one in my real life to talk to about 90-day fiance. So I'm here doing this podcast for you guys so I don't waste precious therapy dollars talking about Rick and Trisha. At the end of the show, I'll do a little book club corner where I'll talk to you about what I'm reading, what I'm writing, maybe what I'm drinking. So grab your favorite beverage. Of course, non-alcoholic if you're listening while driving. If you do enjoy multitasking while listening and drinking, I highly recommend combining it with cleaning because, you know, makes it a lot more fun. I wanted to start with the least terrible storyline and go from bad to worse, but it's so hard to rank these people. So I guess I'm gonna start with the lowest stakes and the most entertaining, and that would be Josh and Elise. We open with Elise. What to say about Elise? She's crying again. She's a mess again. She's leaving for the airport in one hour, and Josh is nowhere to be found and has turned off his location. So she's been awake all night because on their last night together, Josh decided to have a party and invite some people over to the Airbnb. Before I give you the blow by blow, I just want to acknowledge that the internet in general and Reddit specifically in the 90-day fandom seems to be in large agreement that Josh had a cocaine party on Elise's last night in town. Now I've never done Coke. I don't think I've been to a party with cocaine. My life is blissfully not that exciting. But if these allegations are true, it does explain so much of Josh's up and down behavior. And by that I mean last-minute parties, money problems, perhaps the reason why his ex-wife moved their son hundreds of miles away from him. Some people have also conjectured that the alleged cocaine use explains Josh's emotional, how shall we say, strangeness? The love bombing, then going totally flat, disconnected when he fucks up. The shame that follows. This is all alleged, though. So be that as it may, whatever your problem is, people. Even if your girlfriend says it's fine, it's not fine. And when Elise says it's fine, it's not fine. And Elise tells us I said it was fine because I'm a people pleaser. Points for self-awareness. That's a thing that a real partner is gonna have to learn to navigate. But Josh is not a serious partner in any respect. No serious partner would do this on their last night before a 20-hour journey back home. But here we go. Elise is telling producers that last night they had some conversations and everything seemed fine. Uh, we get a tiny flashback of them cuddling in the car after the restaurant. She says, How hard are you gonna cuddle me tonight? And he says, So hard you might pop. Okay, cheesy but cute. However, that did not happen. Uh, what did happen is Josh invited a couple of girls and a guy over to party. Whatever that means. Elise got upset. He says something hurtful to her when she complained. He said, No, these are my friends, and I'm gonna do what I want. So na na na na. Elise goes to the bedroom, cries. Um, they fight at some point. When she wakes up in the morning, he leaves, and now he's not sharing his location. And there are a lot of people who also say that alleged drug use or wanting to go somewhere to make a purchase might be a reason to stop sharing one's location, but that's all conjecture. We don't really know. But Elise is packing and tells producers she just needs a minute. And then we get a shot through the doorway to her room, and we hear Chris asking if she slept at all. She says no. And he jokes, well, at least your sleeping pattern will be perfect. And he comes out of her room shirtless, rubbing his eyes, saying he's gonna steal some of her hydration salts. I think the producer just wanted us to have a little beefcake shot. Uh, so they pull Chris aside and ask him what the vibe is in the apartment, which I think should be obvious. He says, Well, anytime a girl's crying is not good vibes. Uh, he says he was in his room working on his laptop, laptop like a good boy while they were fighting. He says he tries to mind his business when it comes to friend relationships, but yeah, bad idea to have friends over on your girlfriend's last night here. Chris is getting on with his hydration goals as Josh returns. Josh goes straight to Elise's room, closes the door, immediately starts whispering, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry. She's saying, Where did you go? He says, I just got angry and I drove up the road. He says, I thought you didn't care anymore. She says, Look at me, I'm falling apart. He says, I'm wigging out. Sorry. He's going on and on, saying, I'm sorry, I don't want this to be over. I love you so much. She says, This is embarrassing. Josh, stop. We get an in-the-moment interview outside with Josh. He says, in hindsight, yes, a party was a bad idea. But I asked her and she said, Yes, that's absolutely fine. And turns it around and says, That's not okay. And we started arguing. Back at the apartment, Lisa's all packed. We can see the mental wheels turning. I think here she's already made her decision about the relationship. She says, Do you even want to take me to the airport? He says, Yes, I'm sorry. I just got angry and I left. All I wanted was to be alone. She said, Well, you should have said that. This is going in circles. Let's go. Uh, in her talking heads, she says, one minute he's sorry, and the next minute he's putting all the blame on me. Um, she's exhausted, confused. She says, She can't stay and fix this. She has a flight to catch in the car on the way to the airport. He again says, Last night was she says, last night was so eye-opening. He says, again, you shouldn't have said yes when I asked to invite people over. She says, I'm a people pleaser. I didn't have a choice. He says, Don't say yes and then fight with me. Last night I didn't feel heard, she says. You made me feel small and it ruined our last night. And then you talked shit when I went into the bedroom. And he says, No, I didn't. Josh says in his talking head, the tension was palpable. Every time they argue, it doesn't go anywhere. He says, I love her, but I don't know what to do. Here's what you do. Auntie Jen has some advice. Here's what you do: say you're sorry, own it, let her express her feelings even after you say sorry, because she's still processing what happened. So acknowledge it, own it, think about it for a while, process it yourself, and then change your behavior. Anyway, at the airport, Elise says, You say you're in love with me. We talk about the future, and then everything unraveled. Josh says, I don't know how many times I can apologize for it. If every little speed bump becomes this massive thing, it's never gonna work. Um, what happened was not a little speed bump. You acting like trash on her last night in Australia is not a little speed bump. Okay. Elise says, You're so hot and cold with your feelings. You're too ready to walk away. You turn off your location and you're minimizing that. To me, that's scary. I don't know what to expect. He says, I'm sorry, I could have handled it better. Can we move past that? He's just ready to move past everything. This is what he does. He sweeps everything under the rug, says, I'm sorry, now get over it. She says, I wanted it to work with you. You mean everything to me, but I think I'm gonna be settling and I can't do this. It's not going to work out. And I am like shocked and surprised and super proud of Elise. And I'm just really happy to see a woman who knows her worth on here. Josh is like, okay. Elise says she's sorry. Josh says, I understand. Sorry, I've blown this. They hug, she cries. Over her shoulder, his face is just blank. It's like a soap opera. No emotions. Or he's clearly thinking about something else. In Elise's in the moment interview, she says, I want this, but I sh I would be doing myself a disservice. His job situation, living situation, kid situation. I feel bad and I want to take care of him, but that's not my job. Excellent. Excellent conclusion. But she he says, Let me know when you get home safe. See ya. She walks away, still sobbing. Uh later she says she wants a guy who will fight for her. Um, Josh gets a little in the moment interview with the producers. He says, I'm not the type to be like, baby, please don't go. I said, I'm in love with her, but she played with my feelings a little bit. She was scared she would get hurt, so she cut it off first. Yeah, uh, he's trying to rewrite it, but we all saw what happened. Well, we didn't see the party. That's the thing. We didn't see the party, so we are getting Elise's version of it, really. Josh isn't really giving us much. Josh really never gave us much at all. He says he's devastated, but he does not look devastated. He just walks away. Okay, Josh. But on the plane, Elise is crying. At the same time, there's a baby crying somewhere. Um, she says she can't wait to get back to Miami, back to her cats. Overall, excellent story. I I'm really grateful we had Elise to sort of make up for the uh the end of the Emma situation that just sort of petered out. Let's move on to Forrest and Sheena. As with everyone else, Forrest and Molly and Deb are headed to the airport. Forrest says it was the hardest choice I've ever had to make, leaving the one I love. Sheena is saying it's hard to let him go, but his mom meddles too much, so I don't have a choice. It's all over, pretty sad. Um, even though we're all pretty sure that they have met before based on evidence out on the internet. And really, I just don't understand that choice to fool us, to make us think that they haven't met before. I don't think it would really change that much to the story. Um, but in the van, everyone is there, and they are Sheena and Forrest are talking about how they're gonna miss each other. He says he's gonna miss her grinding her teeth. She's gonna miss her papa bear who takes care of her and farting all night. Uh, Molly looks uncomfortable to be present for this conversation, but she sure does not seem to care how anybody else feels when she talks about her kids' sex life. So there's that. Molly has a talking head in which she says, Overall, the trip has been good. She's happy she got to see Forrest, happy and in love. She thought she was going to get her questions answered, but no, she has more questions. She says she still doesn't have the full picture of Sheena's financial situation. She still manipulates, she says, better than anybody I know. And Dev says one whole sentence, the first whole sentence in I don't know, six episodes. He says, Which way is the gate? Thank you for thank you for the input, Dev. Sheena says goodbye to Molly at the airport, and she is sobbing and moaning and carrying on after all the ways in which Molly yelled at her, insulted her, humiliated her, and this is how she carries on. How, why I would never be sad to see my boyfriend's mother leave. But I I don't know, maybe she's just a better person than me. Molly and Dev walk away to give Forrest and Sheena a moment. Forrest is saying it's it's not forever goodbye. It's the beginning. She's continuing to moan and sob, calling him Papa Bear, don't leave me. Uh he gives her his cheap straw, it's cowboy hat, tourist hat, puts it on her head, and it doesn't stay on right because she's got space buttons in her hair. Um, he says, I want you to have this hat and wear it every day. It's a guarantee I'll come back to you. She says, I can't wear it to work because the dogs might chew on it. Oh, okay. Sheena's talking head, she says, I never thought I would meet someone who would love me for what I am, but Forrest opened my heart back again. And that's all we get for Molly. I mean, for Molly and Dev and Sheena and Forrest until the tell-all. Do you think they're gonna have Dev at the Tell All? I hope so. Let's move on to Laura and Bircon. They open with these traditional dancers. TLC. I don't know how to describe it, but TLC, I want to know what this is. Um, so in the hero shot, it's interesting. Laura is walking up with to Birkon with the biggest, most forced smile. She's still in that shirt dress that I really like. Um, it's their last day together. Michael is outside seeing by himself. Birkan has a surprise. He says, We're gonna go somewhere really important to me, and you have to play too. Soccer. It's soccer. He says soccer was his first love. Laura is my last, so it's important to share with her. Laura says, I've never kicked a soccer ball in my life, and it's hot as balls, and I'm in jeans. Yeah, I'm with Laura on the jeans thing. When it's hot outside, any physical activity makes you sweat even more. It's just bleh. I I don't like, I don't, I don't I am uncomfortable in jeans when it's sweating, and she's wearing those skinny, stretched jeans. It's just, it's not a good feeling. I mean, but also Birkan maybe isn't the first person to think, hey baby, I have a surprise, but you should put on some athletic pants or something you can move in. Leggings, yoga pants, shorts, anything. But uh, here's where I don't stand by Laura. You've never kicked a soccer ball in your life, not even as a kid. Aren't you a teacher? Were you ever around children? Did you ever have a PE class? Did you ever sub for a PE class? Surely you've kicked a soccer ball. I I don't know. But Birkan is very impressive with the soccer ball, with the the tricks and the things. Laura calls it panty dropping good. Each to their own, I guess. You should absolutely think that about your partner. Uh he gives her one out of five, he gives her a zero. He says, even Edison tried 2,000 times, and I think she can score one if she tried 2,000 times. His little idioms, just drops of philosophy or tiring. Finally, Laura kicks one into the goal, and he Birkan uses this moment as a segue into a proposal. He says, if you believe something will happen. It will happen. Don't get stuck on the distance. You follow your heart, you will be fine. You will score. I I want these men to stop using sports analogies. We had Rick with the we're moving to we're running to the goal and you're going backwards. I I I don't this is not what I want to hear. That's not what women want to hear. This is what I've always wanted for a proposal. Hot sun beating down, ashroturf, sports, swamp ass, my foundation on my face fighting for its life, as sweat drips everywhere, and a red string on my finger instead of a ring from a gambling addict addict who really, really wants this to work so he can escape $50,000 in debt in his homeland. Now, I'm not calling him out because of the lack of a ring. I don't really care that much about a flashy ring. What I do care about is there's no resolution to so many threads in their story. Does Laura know that if Birkan is fleeing his debt in Turkey, it could mean that he could never come back to Turkey? Because the debt will follow you if you come back. I think you may never get to meet your in-laws because they're not speaking. Have you talked about that? Have you talked about why? If there has been these important conversations already had around these matters, if there's been a real deepening of affection between these two, we have not seen it. And I'm calling that a failure of the producers because there's just no way anybody is rooting for them. Uh, not to mention the fact, going back to the larger fandom on the internet, reporting that Beercon went on a live on Instagram and used the N-word several times. No, I did not see it, but it's been reported enough times that I I believe it seems to be true. And Laura apparently has been defending him that he's allowed to say it because of Stig somehow giving him a pass. I don't uh I don't care who gives you a pass. You're n don't just don't don't, just don't. But of course Laura says yes to the proposal. After he gives a speech about a vein in your hand. He says something, something about a vein in the ring finger being the only vein that reaches the heart, or some nonsense. It goes back to some old wives' tale, I think, during Roman times about rings and ring fingers and veins, and my guy, all veins and artery arteries in your body lead to the heart eventually. So what are you even talking about? But of course, Laura buys it, hook, line, and sinker. Björkan is happy. He says, This is my trophy. Okay, well, yeah, you two deserve each other. Good luck to you. Um, in her talking head, she says she's never been this happy, and if she had to do it all over again, she would do it exactly the same way. Um so the next day she's packing and crying and worrying about what could go wrong when they go back to being long distance. She says, What if you change your mind? He says, What if you change your mind? What if we all change our minds and stop caring about any of this? Okay, but then Michael arrives because of course Laura and Michael booked the same flight back home. Laura has not told Michael yet that there's an engagement. Um, Bjerkon leaves to go put the uh baggage into the cab. In uh Laura's talking head. This is interesting. She says, There's no way we mean Michael can continue to watch movies together in bed or cuddle on the couch. Yeah. Yeah. You weren't together before. You shouldn't have been doing that before. She says, we have to have better boundaries to make sure BeerCon is secure in our relationship. Yeah. Um, because that's weird. She says it's a little bit sad to me that things are not going to be the same between us. Hmm. Okay. So anyway, while Beercon is out bringing luggage to the cab, Laura tells Michael she's engaged, and Michael laughs, odd, awkward laugh and says, It's funny, I found you engaged, and here you are engaged. More on that, please. I think we touched on it in maybe episode one that she had been married before and that she was engaged somewhere in the middle before meeting Michael. Or I want a little bit more on that. She described the whole proposal as sweet and sentimental. He says, Congratulations, blah, blah, blah. And Michael's talking head, he says, it didn't take me long to figure out Birkon is a good guy. Is he right for Laura? I don't know. He's still young. A lot of long-distance relationships are hard to navigate. I don't think love is enough. And that is all they got. Um, and Birkon's talking head, he says, I feel like half of my soul is leaving me. The struggle has begun. But if we both want it, it will work. Okay, so they're at the airport. The two dudes were besties now. Hug Michael skid skidaddles to give him a minute alone. Of course, it's turkey, so they can't kiss he can't back her against the wall and make out with her one last time because all he can do is hug her, tell her not to cry. He gives her this weird arm around the neck, kind of hug like a brother. He says to her, We had our moments and we will still have our moments. Laura says in her talking head, this is gonna be hard, but it's all worth it. Blah blah blah. I don't, I'm done caring about these people. Uh from what it looks like on the tell-all, it she's real mean to Michael. Uh, I'm not really sure what's going on. I'm trying to reserve judgment, but you know, I I think I I think it's pretty clear. I've already reserved, I've already expressed my judgment about Laura and Beercon. Hi guys, sorry for the jarring transition, but um, I am recording in my car right now because of reasons. My kids are at a baseball game, and it's a whole big thing. Motherhood. Anyway, anyway, let's transition to Annalyn and Jovan. So the Eeyore Jovan got her pregnant. It is a little troubling. Also, we find out that Jovan extended his stay in the Philippines and things have been going great, supposedly, according to Annalyn. They've been traveling, making memories. He's been helpful and caring, according to her. I'm sorry. Don't we get to see any of that? So far, we've seen Javon being disagreeable, being a grump. We've seen them fighting, making up lots of footage of him complaining and being weird about money and her feeling sad because of his attitude. And now things are just great. And also traveling with what money? I would like to know. Did they leave them alone for two weeks after the wedding ceremony and or the renewal ceremony, I should say? And now we're to believe that everything is rainbows and unicorns. I'm pretty disappointed. Um, she's now really locked in with a pregnancy. And also, I mean, I'm happy if she's happy about it, but I'm also disappointed in the fact that they skipped over so much in production. The scene's really rushed at the end of the season, not gonna lie. But Javon seems super happy, the happiest we've seen him on this trip so far. He says he's excited and also scared as shit. And that's a good sign. You should be scared as shit. The next day she's packing for him. Why is she packing his bag for him? Why are you letting your pregnant wife do this for you? Annalyn seems really sad in her talking head, saying they haven't made any decisions for the future yet. So they're sitting on the bed and talking about the future. And he says his number one priority is her health and the baby and getting things settled over here. So yeah, she's definitely gonna be having the baby here. And he says, then we're definitely gonna look at getting you to the US. Definitely gonna look at that. Annalyn's big concern is him missing doctor's appointments. Yeah, he's gonna miss all the important milestones in the pregnancy, like hearing the heartbeat for the first time, finding out is the boy or girl. He says, Yeah, I know. Keep me posted. Keep me posted. She wants to know when he can come back. He says, I can't tell you for sure, but definitely before you give birth. Well, I hope so. So in her talking head, Annalyn says, Now that I'm pregnant, I thought he'd work harder to live with me in one place. And it's sad that I'm gonna go through the pregnancy alone. We are all sad for you, Annie. But Annalyn's mom packs some chicken adobo for the trip, which is super sweet. I'm so hungry right now. I love this lady so much. Um, so her mom says in her talking head that she hopes Javon keeps his promises and that they'll be together and not have a broken family like theirs and also like his. Javon says he's gonna miss the food and miss traveling with Anilyn. Anilyn says, I'm gonna miss everything, the good and the bad, the arguing and the makeup sex. We always find a way to forgive each other. I wish we could have seen more of the happy times, honestly, when they were traveling together. Uh uh show us the moment he decided to extend his visa and decide to put work off because, like, he's so emphatic about how much he has to work to support her. Like, that must have been a big decision. I wish we could have seen that. Again at the airport, he says, keep me posted on the baby. This guy, keep me posted. Let's move on to Lisa and Daniel before I go on a real rant. So Faith is back on our screens, you guys. It's been too long. The two of them are going for a walk at the park. Lisa looks like she's been doing well, taking care of herself. She looks healthy. Uh, she's got a fun new exercise outfit. She says, exercise has been good for her, makes her feel light and airy. Faith jokes. Uh, airy, is that why you went blonde? She says, Are you saying I'm an airhead? Um, so the new blonde wig, it uh looks a bit over the top for her face, but okay, it's better than the brown wig. She says, actually, Daniel wants me to have African style braids. Faith um says, for one thing, that is expensive and time consuming. Second, you're a white American. Mm-hmm. Good points, all of the above. Lisa says, Why do I have to be an act as he chooses? Be an act and look at C chooses. You don't. You do not. And that's why we are all asking, why does this man that you're giving money to have so much power over you? Faith says, You're working three jobs to pay the debt that you added onto for him. Why isn't he going out and getting another job? She says, I don't know. I was so in love, and now I'm insecure. So as they're walking, we find out that Daniel has been full pulling away. Uh, we get a talking head from Faith who says, My mom came back from Africa with wild plans. She wanted to go back and live there a year with Daniel, but then she found out he wasn't communicating with her as much. So I wanted to find out some things. So she did find out some things, and none of them were positive things. So Faith says, This is not normal. He that he has four other phone numbers and a wife contact. That's not you. Yeah. Faith went into his email because okay, so going back, backing up a little bit, before I think before she went to Nigeria, Daniel gave her passwords to his email. Anyway, I don't I'm not sure of the timeline, but Faith went into Daniel's email and found a contact in there called Wife Chat. So she contacted this woman. Lisa saved screen caps of the conversation. She says to the woman or to the whoever is on the other end of White Wife Chat, do you know Daniel? I got your number from his email, and it says, You are his wife. And whoever is responding says, So what can I do for you? Faith writes back, Are you married to Daniel? Because my mom is married to Daniel, and I am concerned. Uh, whoever's on the other end says, please lose my number. I do not like to repeat myself. That is certainly some type of energy there. Uh, we don't know if that's actually a woman on the other end. We don't know if it's a wife. It could be. It could be wife chat is a group chat where he talks to other Nigerian dudes about finding wives for the purposes of green cards. I don't think they've considered that. They've just considered well, I mean, both both things would be enough to end the relationship, which is she she's about to do. And I and I'm proud of her. So Faith says, What is your game plan? Lisa says, I have to confront him, but I'm still torn. She says, You know he's going to continue to gaslight you. Lisa confirms this. We get a flashback from how he didn't remember talking with this other woman uh on Facebook or something. Faith says, It's time to tell him what you found out and ask him about this wife. She says, I love him and I miss him, but I feel betrayed and I'm mentally, physically, totally exhausted. Faith is doing so much labor for this woman. So it's a week later. They show Lisa leaving work in these cute scrubs. I mean, as cute as scrubs can be, I guess, just to prove to us that she's not lying about having a job. Uh so Daniel calls her on the way home. She says, Like, I'm driving. I gotta call you back. She goes to a park. She says, He hasn't called me in a while. Now I'm scared. She says, His voice still gives me the butterflies, but she's trying to harden her heart. So she calls him back. They FaceTime. He says, Hi, beautiful, how are you? I love your wig. She said, She's had a stressful day. He says, I told you not to work so hard. She gets out and walks around. She's really nervous. She says, you know, she confronts him on the fact that he hasn't been very communicative. He says he's been busy. He's been working hard since um he spent weeks in Lagos with her, and he came back to his state and found out he has a lot of debt. Uh Lisa says me too, but I always make time for you. I have three jobs. You have one and you go to football games. He says, I am sorry. And she says, You're not the same, Daniel. He says, I have not changed my mind. Lisa says, Why in your context do you have me listed as Liz, Liz baby, and someone else's wife? And Daniel, instead of denying anything or trying to explain anything, he just laughs. I don't think that's true, he says. So yeah, okay, so he does deny it. But I mean, he gave them access to his email. So what is he laughing and denying for? Um she says, Faith went into your email and I have the screenshots. Is it true? He sort of closes his eyes for a moment and says, Are you being real? She says, I am being real. He says, Why do you like laying accusations on my head? And he says this while he's smirking. Lisa says, Faith texted her, who is this wife? Daniel says, I don't know what you're talking about. Maybe you should come up with the evidence. My guy, the screenshots are the evidence. She sends it to him. She says, You're not acting like you care. You're acting like this is a joke. Yes, ma'am. He's been messing with you and pulling your leg this whole time. He's probably messing with three other women at the same time with his hello beautiful act. You know, enough of you fall for this. That they keep doing it. She tells him, Once I hang up, I am not calling back. And I want you to know I don't want this relationship anymore. He says, You want to call it quits because you think I have a wife? Yeah, dude, it's not any more complicated than that. Why is it so hard for him to understand this? He says, This is so funny to me. She says, I'm done with you. I'm done checking up on you. Goodbye forever. And she hangs up. Uh that was quite a breakup. The producer asks, Are you okay? She says, No, I'm not okay. She says, again, he's trying to gaslight me. He used me and broke my heart. I'm not taking him back. I'm tired of feeling like I'm crazy. There is no marriage to Daniel, she says. And we shall see at the tell all, won't we? Let's move on to Aviva. This is sad. They are breaking the fourth wall here while she's trying to compose herself. We see the producer, we see the mixer in the mic, and someone in the frame bringing her tissues. The way they film this is very affecting. We hear someone say, tell us what happened. She says, a week ago, Sig ended their engagement over a text. So let's break this down. After she went back to Arizona, he did come and visit her. They went to Vegas. They had a great time. She went to Houston. They met more of his family. They show some video of them like dancing with his family by the pool. And it looks all pretty cute and like everything was good. But then she says, after he went back home, she noticed a different side of him. She's really for real crying, and I feel feel really bad for her. She says, he seemed so serious, but then he would go missing all night. She says, I don't know if he was physically cheating on me, but definitely talking to other women. I could tell he was pulling away. So they show this text conversation where she says, please just give me the honest truth. It's fine if it hurts me. I'm already so hurt. I know you're talking to other girls. Just be honest and let me and tell me you don't want to be with me. She says it took a few days for him to reply, but he finally replied, Okay, sorry. Maybe we should just end all this. I don't trust you at all. Which is wild. Um, she says he's projecting. He doesn't, he knows he did me dirty and he's hiding from me. She says he didn't have the decency to call me, just did it over a text. She's just so sad. I just, I feel really bad for her. As much as I've made fun of her for about her hair, about the stupid shrimp on the plane, and like the very stupid, stupid, stupid decisions of not using protection. I do genuinely feel really bad. She's been taken advantage of for sure in this relationship. She says, seconds after the breakup, he started posting videos of himself with other girls on the street, saying things like, hey, single girls, hit me up. She says, She keeps looking back and wondering if she could have handled things differently, but I can't dwell on that. She says, The producer asks, Are you questioning the whole relationship at this point? She says, I don't know. I'm left with many unanswered questions. The producer says, Do you think you'll ever get the answers? She says, I don't know. And that's where we leave things with Aviva. Moving on to Rick and Trisha. Oh boy. Truly the worst for last. This mess. He says, She lights up a room when she's in her good moods. When she's in her good moods. Do you mean her good moods when you're not yelling at her and calling her bougie? Those good moods. He says it hurts me deeply that this didn't work out. Hmm, tiny violin for you. We get so much hang dog, Rick. Like, are we supposed to feel sorry for him? Because I do not. I have zero, zero feelings. I'm leaving with no hope at all. Good. Good. The music swells as he's walking through the airport, headed toward the security checkpoint, and he spots Trisha walking his way. And he just loses it. He's sobbing. Baby, he says. Damn it. We were so close people. She's carrying like a Christmas gift bag. She walks up. She lets him hug her. He is sobbing. He says, You came. Why? Um, okay, I thought it was the killed harp in the bag. It is not. She says, I forgot that I bought us this matching outfit, so I wanted to give it to you. He says, We would have looked so cute in it, baby. I have no idea what's in there, and I do not care. I can't stand him continuing to call her baby and sweetheart when they are broken up. It's not right. He says, Is that all? And she says, I also wanted to say goodbye. She says, We will never see each other again. Uh in her talking head, Trisha says, I'm not hoping he'll make the right decision. I just wanted to see him. That's it. When I saw Rick at the airport, my heart tells me I do so love him, but you cannot be with him. It's sad. At the airport, when they focus in on her face with Rick standing there trying to like get through to her, she is just gone. Her eyes are dead, like she's had enough. And I can't help but wonder, did TLC make her go to the airport one last time because it's in her contract? Did they cajole her to get just one more scene out of her? She says these words, but her eyes are saying something else. Her eyes are like, Man, I am over this guy. I don't know. I I hope that's not just wishful thinking. It would be so much better if this disgusting sex tourist would have just not seen her one last time. He didn't need that gift. He mistreated her, he yelled at her, he put her down, he cheated on her, he lied to her family about wanting to have a baby, and then claims she's the best thing that ever happened to him. And yet he cannot block his ex for her. He is the worst. Maybe hanging out with a friend or a coworker, getting consoled. I would have loved to see her with. Somebody who hears her story, maybe one of her fellow midwives to just sort of build her up and help her like realize through the perspective of an outsider. Yeah, oh yeah, definitely I should not have been with this guy. Something like that. I don't know. We don't want this. Not this man. Not this man. He still wants to see her. She says, You'll never change. So why? He says, you know, eventually I'm gonna get over that. He says, we can make it work, baby. He's hugging her. He's having his face on her head. She's looking everywhere but into his eyes. He says, we don't have to commit to anything right now, but let's continue to talk. Yeah, because he needs a validation. He needs to keep her on the hook. Finally, I think Trisha just wants to get out of the scene and she says, okay, she's placating him. That's what she does. She says, Okay, to get through uncomfortable moments with him. He's being needy and selfish. This idiot. She says, I'll talk with you, but that's not a promise that we'll get back together or whatever. He says, I'll take that. He says. She lets him kiss her on the cheek. Still too generous. He walks away. We get a talking head with him saying he knows he has a lot of work to do to win her back. And he's willing to do what it takes. Kudos to the producer who asks, Are you willing to block your ex right now? And he slumps over. And he says, I can't block her because that would be shitting on our times we shared in the past. But I know for Trisha in my relationship to have to work, I have to make a stand of letting it go. I still have I still keep looking back at the feelings I had when her family work was giving us approval. It's giving me hope we can get that back to that place again. And that's it. Uh, you guys, the Tell Owl looks very spicy. Um, they've given so much away. I don't know why they give us so many spoilers, but um, in the preview for next week, we find out Trisha is pregnant. They don't tell us it's Rick's baby, but of course the fandom is has been blowing up and saying, well, they're not following each other on Instagram anymore. Everybody's 100% sure it's not Rick's baby, and I really hope to God it's not. Um Molly's still questioning whether Sheena is telling the whole truth about money, because of course she is. Um, Stig is accusing Aviva of cheating. Uh-huh. Um Laura apparently has not seen much of Michael since Turkey. Apparently, she said something rude to Michael and she says I was joking. I I can't with her. Um, Daniel is on the little uh FaceTime screen saying that Lisa's actually his wife. And Lisa's saying, You tricked me. I need more. I really hope they didn't actually for real get married. Uh Ziyed, Ziyad is back on our screen. Um, and someone's confronting him about whether they did actually have sex and is Emma lying about it. Uh people are bickering. Rick says to him, You're a fake Muslim. And Ziyad says you're a fake father. And Ziyad is laughing at Rick as Rick Royd rages all over the place. I am more a father than you will ever be. I cannot wait. But anyway, it is time for Book Club Corner. Um, if you've been following along with the show, you know I've been reading Rock Hard by Nalini Singh. It is a workplace romance. Also, a little bit of a sports romance is the male main character is an ex-rugby player. A little bit of a slow burn physically, but they're both about like 50% into this book. And they're both definitely uh having thoughts, lots and lots of thoughts. I laugh at myself because I say I don't like slow burn. I say I don't like sports romance, but on the other hand, one of my favorite romance authors is Mariana Zapata, who is all about the slow burn sports romance. I don't know what to tell you, but so far these characters in Rock Hard are getting super gooey gooey over each other, and I I just want to grab them and say, now kiss. Um, I'm waiting. I'm waiting and waiting, and I love it. Uh even more so, I am waiting for the moment when the male main character, Gabriel, finds out who hurt Charlotte in her past because that's always a great moment. If you know you know, who hurt you is one of the greatest microtropes. Listen, I don't want anyone in real life catching assault charges, but I do love it in a book. I love it when a male main character in a book takes care of an ex or someone's past abuser. It's so much wish fulfillment. So, an update on me. I'm finishing up my next novella in the Songbird Ridge series called Unsteady: How to Fail at Flirting. It's all about Skylar, who is trying to open up a bookstore in her small town. And Finn, who comes in, is our contractor. It's an insulove situation, insulove, insulust, insulin. Uh, they're trying to get some work done and really not getting any work done, but they're getting other things done, if you know what I mean. Uh, it's very low stakes. It's an extremely easy read. This is what I do. The sticking point with them is she's a huge flirt. She likes to keep everything fun and frothy, and the male main character has a way of getting her walls to come down emotionally and mentally, she's just not wanting to do that. So the failing at flirting that's indicated in the title is about her not being able to like be real with him and admit that she wants something more beyond the physical, and that's it. See, I don't tend to write anything too complicated, mostly one-hour reads you can fit in over your lunch break at work or after work with two or three glasses of wine. If you're interested, I'll have all the links to my books in the show notes, as well as links to Rock Hard by Nalini Singh and where to find me on Story Graph.
