The Ninety Day Book Club contains adult language and is meant for entertainment purposes only. Hello everybody, I'm back. It's Jen. I'm your host. You are listening to the 90 Day Book Club. Why is this called the 90 Day Book Club? I will tell you. I write under a romance pen name called Abby Knox. I write mostly short, quick, fluffy, sweet, over-the-top spicy romances, and I love to talk about romance. I love to talk about books, and I also love all things reality TV. So I come at the 90-day universe as someone who thinks about stories and relationships, both real and fiction. I am not an expert on relationships. I am not a romance expert by any means, but I do love to chat about these things. So here I am. Today I'm recapping 90 Day Season 12, episode 4. It's called Forsaking All Others. If I had to rename this episode, I would say the theme is lower your expectations because they are too great of expectations. Okay, let's get into it. I'm gonna start with my still current favorites, Rosh and Mallory. Rosh from Turkey, Mallory from Athens, Alabama. Dies are traveling to the US and they are documenting it themselves. Four flights from Marmaris, Turkey to Istanbul, to Paris, to DC, to Huntsville. Oh boy. So Rosh is understandably very nervous about going through customs in DC. Mallory wants to see if they will let her go through customs with him. While they're filming themselves talking about this, she's explaining what she's trying to do. And he keeps kissing her while she's trying to talk. And I don't know if you found that annoying, but I found it very cute and endearing. I'm sorry. I'm not actually sorry. So Rosh actually gets through customs before she does. And I guess he felt totally okay going through US customs in a ball cap and pajama pants. I mean, do what you gotta do to be comfy on the plane, I guess. In his talking head, he's adorable. He says, I feel like this is fake. This feels like a dream. Um, when they arrive at Huntsville Airport, he's like, Give me kiss baby. And they hug and they kiss. So they get their little moment at the airport that they otherwise wouldn't get because they've been traveling together. And they do the typical camera spinning around them, but oh, they are just freaking adorable. I love them. So he also decides he needs to carry her out the doors of the airport, and it's hilarious. She is cracking up, they make it to the bench, and he's like, My back hurts from the bags, baby, not from you. That was a very good clarification. So Mallory's friend Michaela pulls up to pick them up from the airport, and she's got her Ford Explorer, she has on her American flag, bib overalls, she's got her cowboy hat, she's got her boots, she has this car completely ducked out in that window chalk that you write. Um, you know, America, USA, USA, honk if you love America. And then on the on one of the windows, it says back-to-back world war champions. In case it's not obvious, I'm not a super flag waven American, especially not right now, but I feel like this is a very nice welcome to America, but the world war champions thing really uh rubbed me the wrong way. Um, she made this sign. She put so much work into this, it's really cute. She made this sign, welcome to America. She's got pictures of, I don't know, hot dogs, NASCAR, Ricky Bobby. Um, he says, your car is very big. Once they get in the car, they must be passing a Chick-fil-a or something because somebody says, We're gonna eat Chick-fil-A while you're here. I mean, well, he's here forever, apparently, right? Oh, I I really wish they hadn't brought up Chick-fil-A. And Michaela says, It's the Lord's chicken, it's prayed over. And but what's funny is Mallory is trying to explain that it's actually halal. And she, I guess, is butchering this word halal because he thinks she's saying hello. He's like, hello. She's like, no, halal. He says, hello, she says no halal. They pass this um billboard for an adult bookstore, and they ask him if he knows what it is. Obviously not. She says, it's a store for adult stuff, it has sex stuff, like dildos, vibrators. She says, Hanky Panky store. And he finally understands. He says, I want to go to sex shop. And she's like, What do you think is in a sex shop? He says, like normal toys, baby. She's like, No, not normal toys. She said, some allegedly might even have a glory hole. Oh my god. So she goes on to explain what a glory hole is. And he says, This is real hole. She says, Yep. Could be a man, could be a woman on the other side of that hole. You don't ask questions. He says, American, very crazy. Really, it is. Yes, it is. Um, downtown Athens. They say, Blink and you'll miss it. Has anyone ever been in a car when you were a kid and your parent or grandparent and uncle were driving and you pass through a town and they say, Well, here we are, blink and you'll miss it. Yeah, that's I had a flashback from that. He comments that they don't have people outside. It looks like an abandoned city, he says. Mallory explains, well, this is not like Marmaris, where there's lots and lots to do. He says, Everybody uses car. That's crazy and not normal. Yeah. Yeah. And his talking head, it's really kind of tugs at my heartstrings a little bit. He says, I am so sorry. Very hard for me to adjust to your culture. I come from Turkey, and then they maybe don't like Turkish people here. I will miss Turkey so much. But honestly, this is one of the warmest welcomes I've seen from friends on this show. Uh, Mallory, you can just tell she really loves him and her friends support her, or this welcome would not have been like this. Uh, he makes a very big deal about their very first kiss in her house, their house. He keeps saying, I love you so much. Um, okay, so these dogs are a lot. She has four dogs. She lets in from the backyard as soon as they get in. Minnie, Mickey, Twister, and Opal. Amazing. Amazing. Uh, and they're talking head. He says they can stay outside. Mallory says, we can get a bigger bed for the dogs. Uh, Rosh is trying to explain. All men have libidos. We wake up and she says, morning wood. You wake up with morning wood. He says, Yes. Wake up with morning wood. Maybe she'll bite. What is the snake like this? She says, Snake, calm down. He is so funny. He climbs up on the dog stairs on the end of the bed. He says, Oh, these stairs are for me. She says, No, it's for Opal because she's little. Has anybody else ever had stairs? We sort of had to like make some stairs for our dog when she got real bad arthritis. Um, okay, and now the bathroom. I can't believe they haven't talked about this before. But he says, your toilet have wash ass. So, no, no bidet. He says, This is really important, baby. I can't do this paper. Okay, Mallory, go to Lowe's or Home Depot. You can get an attachment for a for a bidet. Um, my friend, she's renovating her house, did this. Honestly, I would love to do this. Get an attachment. You can make your toilet into a bidet. He says, Water touch your ass very clean. She says, How how do you know it's clean? He says, I check with my hands. He says, He he's trying to explain that you don't know if you're clean because clean on the inside. The paper doesn't help get you clean on the inside. No, if you're boo-hole. And she says, Are you talking about dingleberries? Oh, okay. And then things take a little bit of a turn when they're unpacking. Up until now, I am on board with Rosh. He takes out a stuffed puppy toy and a little pink sweater. He says, When we make baby, this is their first gifts. Mm-hmm. So in Mallory's Talking Head, she says, Rosh is getting a little ahead of himself because that's not on my plate right now or ever. The producer asks her, and she says, uh, no, we never have the conversation about why I've never had a desire to be a mom. I definitely should. It needs to happen. Yeah. Yeah, you do. You need to have that conversation. This man wants a baby. I don't know if you know. He wants to get her pregnant. Um, so the phone rings, or she gets a notification on her phone from Brandon, who's coming over to pick up the dog camera that she borrowed while she's in Turkey. And he Rosh immediately goes into a bad mood. I did not like this. And it hurts me to say this because I love Rosh, and I could almost forgive him feeling apprehensive and jealous about Brandon. But when he says to her, My mood is finished now, and he says in his talking head, This is my place, I am boss here. I could take Brandon in a fight. Um, this is so not necessary. But next episode, we get to meet Brandon, and we get to see some things go down at this white trash bash. Let's move on to Debbie and Mito. Devin, her daughter, meets them at the airport. Devin is really calling Mito on the carpet on the car ride home from the airport about him pulling that prank, and he's like, Well, it's okay, we're here. The producer asks him, Are these types of pranks common in Egypt? Okay, so just a reminder: the prank was he made Debbie wait a really long time, almost like what was it, two hours at the airport, not knowing if he was coming or not. And on the phone, he wasn't answering his phone. He made her think she was still he was still at home. It was all just a mess. But anyways, she was throwing up in the bathroom. It was crazy. Mino explains, if I say I'm coming and you pick me up and we go home, it's normal. It's normal. But now I see the emotion. So I think what he's saying is he was spicing things up by creating this drama by saying making her think that he may be coming or may not be coming. Now he gets to see all of her emotions when he does show up. So this man likes the drama. Okay, he's clearly an Enneogram for. If you know what that is, you know. I unfortunately am a four, but I am also in therapy about it. Um in Devin's talking head, she says she wishes he would apologize and own up to what he did. Yeah, because what he did wasn't nice. Uh, they arrive at the apartment. He's peeking up the stairs, and I think that he thinks someone's gonna take his bags for him. Uh, so she's giving him the tour. This is my kitchen, this is my desk, these are my eggs. Eggs. She's got like 40 or 50 little Faberge style eggs. Very beautiful, very ornate little eggs in a curio cabinet. I have no idea how to tell if they are real Faberger eggs or not. I doubt that they are real, but they're just, you know, decorative little collector items. Okay, not my thing, but okay, everybody's got a thing. That's Debbie's thing. Mito, of course, immediately starts talking shit about her eggs. He says something like she was living alone and she had more things than what is for one person. Um, Devin is sleeping on the couch, so that means Mito and Debbie are sharing a room, and that's sort of uh forbidden for a strict Muslim. But I don't know how strict he is because he has been kissing her, and he kissed her out of the blue, as you recall, when she and Devin visited Egypt for the first time. Oh, and he also talks shit about her apartment. He says, you know, your apartment is smaller than my whole house. He says, on the outside it looks big, and inside it's so small, it's crazy. I mean, it's an apartment building, sir. But apparently Devin was living in Germany, and so now she's home and I guess she's figuring out her situation. Now that she's back from Germany, I don't really know the whole story, but so she's sleeping on the couch. He's sharing a bed with Debbie. And I already am not loving his attitude about the accommodations. Um, but I think he's trying to be nice, but it's not coming across. Um, but I will say this: one of the nice things about being with a woman of a certain age, a woman over 50, she's gonna let you sleep when you get home after flying all day or all night. She's not gonna take you to New Orleans and be like, all right, throw your shit down, let's go out to Bourbon Street. No, that's not her. She's not gonna pull a Jovi on you, she's gonna let you sleep. So I thought that as a Muslim, he's not even supposed to be sharing a bed with Debbie. But I'm getting the feeling that Mito is pulling a Mohammed from Mohammed and Danielle from way, way, way back in season two. It's like I'm not allowed to be affectionate with you because of my religion or because it's Ramadan or whatever, but really it's because I'm not into you. That's what I think is happening. Debbie goes and changes in the bathroom, a little bit goes with her to change in the bathroom. Debbie comes out in this long flannel, buffalo plaid, red and black nightgown from the prairie. It seems like it's a bit of a joke on her part to make him feel comfortable because they do have a good laugh about it, and then they kind of joking jokingly shake hands. So um Mito has a talking head, and they ask if he's feeling intimate at all, and he sort of rolls his eyes. He does the sort of Anderson Cooper roll of the eyes, like real, real quick. He says, No, not at all. It's telling to me how he says nothing at all about her, like, oh, she's the love of my life. I'm so happy to be with Debbie finally. I love her so much, but I have to be a good boy. Nothing like that. Nothing about how much he's attracted to her, how beautiful she is, nothing. He's just like, not at all. Um, he just says, he just says, well, we'll make a pillow wall to protect me and to protect her. The producer says, How do you know if you're compatible? Mito says compatibility is a big problem in Egypt and everywhere. If I'm not compatible with her, will I leave her? I don't know. It's just very flippant. And it's obvious, it's so obvious right now. He's not into her at all. And yet he kisses her good night, calls her Habibi. The next morning she wakes him up and he says he did not sleep well at all. Debbie says in her talking head, waking up next to the man I love was amazing. She asks Mito, where's my kiss? He says, Kiss, okay. He kisses her on the head. He says, Okay. Like, okay, can we make this a really quick kiss and be done with it? She says, Are you happy? He says, sure. Sure. Sure, sure, sure. You will prepare me something surprised today in New Orleans. Mm-hmm. Um, in his talking head, he says, uh, there was a time during the night when there would be a hand crossing the border under the pillow wall. He says, it's okay, I control myself. No sex, no touch until marriage. Mm-hmm. But doesn't seem like you even want to. So they go down to the French quarter, of course. What else are you gonna do for the first time someone is in New Orleans who's never been there? You know, he loves it. I will give him credit. It's not like Yara from Yara and Jovi when she first visited New Orleans. She thought it was a dirty village. Oh, this man, when he's getting ready, they troll him so hard. He is spraying so much body spray all over his body and his hair on his clothes. He's wearing stretchy lycra pants, like workout pants, leggings, and a tank top. And this is where I'm starting to think, okay, there's things about Mito that he's just not telling us, or he has maybe not admitted to himself. And then he asks Debbie to change into something that covers her shoulders so he can wear a tank top, but she can't. And she's just okay, okay, yes, I'll I'll go change. Uh in her talking head, she says, I get this, but it's just a little bit of shoulders, and New Orleans is like a crawfish pot, it's so hot. Yeah. He says, I protect her because he doesn't want other guys looking at her. She says, You're worried about my shoulders, but you can see everything in those pants. And he says, I am a sexy man. He says this with like air quotes. I don't get this guy. Um, he will he does have a great smile when he wants to. He seems to really enjoy himself in New Orleans. He you know, when he's in a good mood, he seems really fun. I can see that when he's in a bad mood, he's terrible. Debbie says, In New Orleans, you can be whatever you want to be. It's like magical. And he loves it because it's very green, no desert. She shows him where the strip clubs are. He says, When you are asleep, I will come. Mm-hmm. Yeah, maybe you can find Jovi and hang out at the strip clubs. He is making her take photos of him everywhere, but I don't see them taking any selfies together. Interesting. He says he came to America to be a big star, not just a movie star, a big star. Why has no one yet sat him down and said, look, the your chances are slim to none for that to happen. But anyway, they go to a juice bar. Not the first place I would think of on Bourbon Street to go to, but they go to a juice bar. And he says, over their strawberry banana juice, how far from here to Hollywood? She says, by car, a couple of days. And he says, I can't wait to start my career, Hubby B. And he says, So what do you think? We can live there in Hollywood? And she's like, Well, we don't know anybody in Hollywood. He says, You know me. He says, I left all of my things, my career, my home, my friends. You could just move from New Orleans to Hollywood. And she sort of makes a face. He says, What does that mean? What's that reaction? In her talking head, she says, I don't want to be the naysayer, but it's definitely concerning. And his first couple of days here is all about acting. They still have a wedding to plan, she says. And then she tells him, I just want you to enjoy being here with me for a few days. And again, in her talking head, she says, I don't know if he's here for me or for the pipe dream. Baby. Baby girl. Yeah, it's only about the pipe dream of making it big in Hollywood. He tells her at the juice bar, I'm not coming here to play. He says that out loud. Debbie says, I will think about it, as in moving to Hollywood. She ain't thinking about moving to Hollywood. That's crazy. Not once has he said anything about how much he loves her, how much how happy he is to be with her. She moves them into a bigger two-bedroom apartment down the block. Um, so the next day, or I don't know, the Chiron says 88 days until the wedding, or something like that. Devin and Debbie are packing in the morning, getting ready to move. Thank God she's hired movers to get the big stuff. They're wrapping up all of her eggs, all of her little Fabrije style eggs in bubble wrap. While Mito's in the bathroom washing his face, spraying his hair, doing his body spray. This part is so shady and I loved it. They cut to Devin, who says, I'm sure Mito will contribute something once he gets a moment. And then they cut back to Mito spraying his clothes before he puts them on, and then spraying some more and then some more. What the hell is with all this cologne? What are you doing? So finally he walks his ass into the living room where they are wrapping the eggs. 30 minutes later, they get to the new apartment and he is not happy. It looks really big and pretty nice. Uh, Devon and Debbie are in the middle of a discussion, a very important discussion about where the dog bed is gonna go. And he interrupts and says, I'm excited to see my new room. Can you show me where my new room is? I need to get some rest. Yeah, all that rest you need after helping uh diddly squat a mount, I guess. So they ask her what's going on in her talking head. She says, We got into an argument over something stupid, and now he's acting like a toddler. Um, so they cut to Mito on the bed and she's asking him what he thinks, and he just gives her a thumbs up. He's not really talking. Devin's like, Yeah, okay, I'm gonna go check out my room. Bye. Debbie says to him, Do you not want to talk anymore? He says, I can't. Producer asks Debbie, what happened? She says he wanted a video of him driving the truck. Mind you, it's two blocks, two blocks, but he wanted a video of him driving a moving truck. But when Debbie took the video, she hit photo on the phone instead of hitting the button for video, and he went off, she says. And she says, I was like, no, I don't think so. So we get Mito's side of the story. He says, an argument started when I require from her to give me a video, and I see that she took the photo. He says, it's okay, we can repeat. And then she threw her phone on my face. I'm gonna go ahead and believe him that she did throw her phone at him. He says she should be running to me and hugging me and saying she's sorry, but she did not say that. I am not happy. Debbie tells him, I'm not happy with you either. He goes downstairs and stands in the rain. Because I guess he can't get away from her. I don't know. Debbie says, Well, she's unpacking, and he's standing in the rain. She's like, I don't document everything I do every two steps. I don't think it's necessary. So does that mean it was an accident, or does that mean you screwed it up on purpose because you're tired of his bullshit? I don't know. Well, he comes back in, I'll let she says, Do you want to talk? He says, I can't. I don't feel better. Debbie tells the camera, I will not continuously sit back and be a doormat and be treated a certain kind of way. This is not how things will go. I will give him his time and his rest. Then he's gonna have to sit down with me and have a real conversation. I'm not gonna be walked all over. And then the segment with Debbie and Mito ends with little bit somehow realizing that he's alone in the bedroom with Mito. And Mito is trying to call him, call little bit over, and she's like, nope. And she just yeets herself right out the room, and he's all uh that dog has your number, sir. Um, moving on to Paula and Thomas. She says in the car on the way home from the airport, she's being real cute. She says, This right here is everything I ever dreamed of. I couldn't be happier. Thanks, universe. Thanks, Tomillo. I guess Tomio is her little nickname for Thomas, which I think is adorable because it sounds like Tomatillo. And if I could call somebody a Tomatillo as a nickname, I would really love to do that. In his talking head, he says, Thomas says it kills me inside that she credits the universe with everything. And you know they've had this conversation before, but she's had to explain why she talks about the universe. She says, I know you did all the work, but we are part of the universe. So feel grateful you are a part of this. He's trying really hard, he's going out of his way to not understand her beliefs because he likes his little sound bites. He likes his exaggerated delivery that almost sounds like a bit to me. And I say let her be happy, let her have her little things, let her have her chit-chat with the universe, her little kiki with the universe, let her manifest, let her do her thing. It's working for her. She's not hurting you by saying thank you, universe. Okay, you are not God. And she did say thank you to you. Anyway, she says, I love LA as they're leaving LAX. I love LA everywhere. There are palm trees. I love this city. It's so easy to be vegan here. I can't wait to go shopping out to eat. It's so affordable. Excuse me, what? Excuse me, what? Is affordable in Long Beach, California? I had no idea. Compared to Sao Paulo, I don't know. I could look up cost of living differences between California, Long Beach, California, and Sao Paulo, Brazil, but I'm I'm not I'm not going to. So they get to the apartment, she looks around, and you can tell this girl is immediately not happy. She says, What's different? Thomas says, I cleaned it up. She says, What about that tiny table? Like right away, she's in on that tiny table. I would be too. He says, I got a tablecloth. Sir Thomas, that's a runner. That's called a runner. That's not a tablecloth. He for reels is thinking she's gonna sit down on those damn yoga blocks to eat her meals. In her talking head, she's no, I'm not gonna use that shit. She calls it ridiculous and she feels disrespected. She's like, Why can't you why can't you go buy why can't you just go buy this? And he's like, It's not about the money. This is what I want. I've been doing this for a couple of months and I really like it. But her knees are hurting, so you have to figure this out, dude. Um, and then she says, What about the bed? Because, you know, as we know, Thomas thinks that his couch is a bed. No, he thinks his bed is also a couch. He says, I'm imagining you and me laying on the bed, watching the sunset through the balcony. Uh, she gets a talking head and she says, We talked about this a hundred times, a hundred times. I tell him, I am not asking more than what I provided in my apartment in Brazil. If he says, No, I don't have a dinner table, I do not have a couch, I do not come. So I feel lied to. Okay, so if this is true, if he said he was gonna get a table and a couch, and he didn't, and did not say, oh, by the way, I never got those sayings. Will you still come? He didn't do any of that, according to her. That's a big red flag. Did he lie to her? I don't know. Okay, we also talk okay, we also have to talk about the closet situation. There's a small closet, a small shelf, there's like half a closet, and he hasn't even cleaned it all out. She says, This doesn't even fit my panties. She says, What about the other closet? He says, Well, they're full right now. Um what the minimalist could not clean out the other closets because somehow he requires possessions. This girl seems like she was leaving a pretty comfortable life in Brazil, and she is not gonna be comfortable in this stupid apartment. He says, Well, it's gonna take a couple of months to accommodate, settle in, whatever. Now she's a na-uh, maximum seven days. Yeah, here's the thing. You, Thomas, knew she was coming, and you knew she wanted a table, and you knew she wanted a couch, and you love her. So why don't you get in your stupid car and go to the stupid IKEA, get her a stupid little wardrobe or something. Better yet, sell some of your shit that you pretend that you don't need. And then he says to her, to Paula, I will take you seriously if this closet is actually full. Meaning, if she can actually fill that closet with her stuff, he'll take her seriously that she needs more space. Thomas, I really wanted to like you. And you're ruining it. She says, You want to treat me like a guest here? You really want to marry me? I came to have a life here. I can only fit like two pairs of shoes in there. What makes you think I have little clothes to fit into a bird box? Maybe he thought you like tiny things so you could fit your things in a tiny closet. She's upset nothing's ready for her arrival. She so she wants water. And she's like, Look, he opens the fridge to get the water. Look, tofu, I got you tofu. All she sees is the meat, the red meat. She says, I am not okay with Thomas cooking any meat at all in the apartment. Okay, so I was rooting for you, Paula. Oh, and then she's in on him about the dehydrator on the counter. She's like, What is this? For bananas? She's he says, No, I use it to dehydrate meat. She's like, I don't want to look at meat every day through the glass. Oh boy. Did I say before that vegans and non-vegans can cohabitate successfully? They can, but she doesn't even want to see the meat when she opens the fridge. She doesn't want to see him or smell the meat being cooked while she's there. She wants him to use the barbecue outside at the apartment complex for every single meal of his that has meat in it. That's a problem. She has some cute pajamas though. She asks him if he changed the sheets. Yeah, I'd be asking this guy if he changed the sheets for sure. So they do this thing called the spider when they're in bed, and this is actually cute. They sort of pretzel their legs all together and they sleep like that. And that I found to be very endearing. Well, we'll see what happens next time. Uh, we gotta move on to Aisha and Maxwell. Aisha's meeting her friend Patricia at the park. It says on the Chiron, friend slash prophetess. Here we go. They're at the park. She's given the whole sob story about how Maxwell got his K1 visa denied. She says, Denial never came to my mind. We know nobody says no to Aisha. She explains that a prophet can hear, feel, or see a message from God. Patricia sits with her at the park and says, Okay, we're gonna lock in and have a prayer. Okay, listen, there's something I like about Patricia, even though I don't believe in this prophecy stuff, but she believes it, and I feel a real sincerity coming off of her. She's like, Dear Lord, we know it will come to pass. Your will will come to pass. Though it tarry, it shall come to pass. I have not heard the word tarry since I was forced to memorize parts of the King James Version of the Bible in, I don't know, kindergarten or something. We don't use the word tarry a lot anymore, do we? It's a good word. Aisha says in her talking head that Patricia is one of the last prophetic words that led me to know my husband was coming. She says, shoot, she prophesied this show. Okay, so they're praying at the park. The geese are flying, they are speaking in tongues. Aisha's crying. Aisha is sobbing. I do hear these birds going crazy in the background. Those Canadian geese are honking. And Asia says, That means God was here with us. Patricia says, I guess the word she got from God was, you just need a little more time. You need to push a little harder. She says, What about me going to Nigeria? So Asia's leading Patricia into this conclusion that she needs to go to Nigeria. Patricia's like, yeah, I think visitation would be good and give you time to discuss some things. Asia says, when Patricia says something, you can put your bottom dollar on it. I think you kind of led her to say that. Patricia says, God is going to turn this thing around for the good. This is your time. It's going to be well. Listen, if Patricia looked at me and says, it is going to be well, I'm a million percent believing it. Okay. And I don't believe in any of this prophecy stuff, the speaking in tongues. I personally feel like it's all fakery, but you do you. But Patricia has some real sincerity about her that I just I can't dislike her. Um, so uh moving on, she's packing. Ace's packing, her mom is packing. She has a shirt that says, I love my baby, and it has her face on it so that she's gonna give to Maxwell. She has a whole separate suitcase to bring stuff to Maxwell. She says, I'm all about self-care. She sent him to an ascetician for a chemical peel. She wants him to get a hair transplant. She is packing this acne body wash, retinol, uh, sunscreen. She says, I have always been a visionary. I see the full potential. He realizes once he sees the results that I'm right. This man is gonna be a model when I'm done with him. Okay. Uh, right away on the Zoom call with Maxwell, he calls her, Sweetie, you are so beautiful. And listen, I would would I fall for that? Yeah. Yeah. It is a toxic trait of mine. I will I will get a little gooey if you say, Oh, call me sweetie and tell me I'm beautiful when I look like I'm not wearing a stitch of makeup. Anyways, her mom's Juliet is coming with her to Nigeria, and Aisha is worried that her mom's gonna be bored. I love her, but she gets on my last nerve. I hope so. I hope so. I hope Juliet does get on her very last nerve, and I want to see every second of it, and you better give it to us, TLC. Uh, but Maxwell is super excited for Juliet and Aisha to come to Nigeria. We got lots of exciting stuff to do, but Aisha's all business. She says we got lots of decisions we gotta make. We're gonna talk about the spouse of Vetus, visa, what we're gonna do about the uh K1 denial. She says we're gonna discuss it with everyone. Everyone's gonna have their opinions at the end of the day. It's our decision. So they're taking a 10-day trip, and she says it's very important there's no family drama while we're there. Mm-hmm. Um, before she hangs up, she says, make sure you're doing your sunscreen every two hours and do some push-ups. Get that body together. Wow. Moving on to Shay and Annabelle. She's in the tub scrubbing away. She's not scrubbing Shay, she is scrubbing, cleaning the tub first thing in the morning, I guess, because Shay walks in. He's like, What you doing? She's like, I'm cleaning. He says, I want you to get back in bed and relax. I want to make you your first American breakfast in bed. She's like, Hmm, okay, I've never had breakfast in bed. I think that's weird. Annabelle climbs back in bed under the sheets in her jeans. Oh my god, I hate it. She climbs into the bed in her jeans. Oh, it makes my toes curl. Bless her. She does not know what's going on. She was cleaning in the bathroom, and now she's in her jeans in the bed. And because breakfast in bed is weird in the Philippines. And then the the breakfast he brings her is also a bit lackluster for breakfast in bed. It's egg. Eggs and toast with strawberry jelly. He calls the jelly toast her breakfast dessert. I mean, there's no coffee, no tea, no juice, no fruit, no flour. What are you doing? I breakfast in bed is you uh you gotta do a little bit more. I don't know. Doesn't matter though, Annabelle is worried about ants in the bed. He's trying to explain. It's just a special occasion kind of thing, and she looks super uncomfortable. This whole scene is crazy. She says, I look everywhere, dog hair is everywhere, I don't want to eat dog hair for breakfast. Uh he tells her, oh, today we're gonna go explore the town. She's like, Great, I'm gonna finish breakfast in the kitchen. Uh so later they're driving in the car, head towards town, and he's yammering about all the piles of dirt and sand and gravel everywhere. He's like, that all comes in on barges on the river or here's concrete trucks. Just pick up that stuff right off the river and they mix it right there. And her talking head, she's like, Oh, he likes to talk, blah, blah, blah. Look at the stones. Oh my god, Shay, shut up. In 1937, there was a major flood. She's like, Oh, yeah, great. This is Margaret Square. She, like everybody else, says this is not like the Philippines with people everywhere. It looks abandoned. He says, Well, in the evening, more people come out. He takes her to this restaurant. He calls it a restaurant his friend just bought, but inside it's just it's a pool hall. Pool hall with, I don't know, zero atmosphere to me. But uh, they meet up with his friends, Lindsay and Jeff. Are they the friends who own this place? It's unclear. But they seem really over the top surprised to see them. Even though the cameras were there, it seems like they knew they were coming right out the gate. This Jeff guy tells her, tells Annabelle that his first thought when Shay was talking to her is to wonder if Annabelle is a male order bride. Okay. She turns to Shay. Are people saying that about me? Shea says, Well, I don't even know what a male order bride is, but if I say my fiance is in the Philippines, people do ask that. We live in a very judgmental community. Jeff says, Yeah, the community is judgmental. Shay is out here seemingly single, and now that you are here, people are gonna be like, Who is this person? And she says, Well, we haven't spent five years together without loving each other. We don't get much else from this conversation, but I guess it ends okay because she lets them give her a hug and then they leave. It's anyways. That was weird. So next, oh, this is priceless. You know when some bad news is coming and you try to get ahead of the story and be completely honest about it and let the chips fall where they may. That is not what's happening here, although I think this is what Shay's trying to do. Shay decides to get ahead of the story that's coming down the pike from Nicole. Where is Nicole, by the way? Whatever Nicole had planned to tell Annabelle about Shay. Shay's gonna get ahead of it, right? But he does it very badly. He says, I need to talk to you. Remember, I told you about Nicole coming up to the house. She's like, I don't want to talk about that. He says, Well, I I didn't tell you everything that was said. I didn't want to upset you before you traveled. If she comes at you, I don't want you to feel like you don't know what's going on. Nicole says, I'm gonna tell her you cheated. And I said, What do you mean I cheated? Nicole says, I know you cheated with Angie, and I say, that's bullshit. Where do you hear that? Annabelle says, Did you cheat on me with Angie? This woman has the look. Uh, you don't want to piss off Annabelle. This was such a wrong decision, Shay. Her face, her face is like gangster mob boss face. She's looking at him like, what the fuck are you talking about? She is clearly very upset. She says, No, babe, I never laid a finger on Angie. I respect her because she's my friend's daughter. We have hung out as friends. People perceive cheating in different ways. This is my opinion. If at a party and some girls ask me to come dance with me and we're all drunk and they kiss on me, they kiss me on the cheek, I give a kiss on the lips. That's just drunk fun. I have definitely never had sex with other women, but I'm flirty. Okay, so in her talking head, Annabelle says, I know if he's drunk, he doesn't know what he's doing. She says to him, You cheated on me. She says, I don't think I did. If I did, in your opinion, I'm sorry. It's just fun, baby. Annabelle says, I don't want to listen to your crap. And she walks out. Outside of the the billiard hall, the producer asks her, Are you okay? She said, No. And she starts speaking in uh to Galluck. He's a liar. I left my family for him, and this happens. I thought he loved me, but it turns out to be a lie. I don't know if a wedding is still happening. Who boy. Next time we get to see Edward getting told by Marissa not to wear shoes at the house. Uh, Josh and Katie move into their new apartment, and she tells yet another story about kissing someone while drunk. That's a show, everyone. If you like it, please share it. Give it five stars on Apple, Spotify, or wherever it is you listen. Check out my show notes for important links. Tell your friends. I will see you soon with a recap of episode five.
