Hi, I'm Ava. And I'm Abby. And you're listening to End Is Afters.
SPEAKER_01Where we use East End as hot topics to talk about our real worlds.
SPEAKER_00And have a good gossip. Welcome to the Afters. Welcome to the Afters. Abby, what's your storyline?
SPEAKER_01Would you shoot one of your exes if you thought you'd get away with it?
SPEAKER_00Probably.
SPEAKER_01Would you? No. Nothing to shoot. No. How many exes do you have? One. One. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00And he was a lovely man, so I wouldn't shoot him.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, no, don't.
SPEAKER_00Would you?
SPEAKER_01Would I shoot one of my exes? No, I don't think so. My first ever ex is so relevant to my life that I don't wouldn't feel the need to. I don't know anything about him, blah blah blah. I was literally wasn't even in much of a relationship. My middle ex was a pain in my ass and quite toxic, but we're actually friends now, so it's all cool. And my most recent ex. Yeah, maybe. Not yet, I would have I wouldn't shoot him. Maybe a maybe a backhander.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, for sure. And quite a few people.
SPEAKER_01No, I wouldn't really. No, I wouldn't. But if Bill had done to me what he'd done to Lisa, I would have done the exact same as what she done back in the day. I would have hidden that bush and I would have popped him.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Just like Lisa did who killed Phil. What a storyline. I know. Classic. I remember I was I would have been like eight or nine years old, and I was still gripped on who shot Phil.
SPEAKER_00I know, talk with the town.
SPEAKER_01Because we forget, because Phil is in his redemption era, how awful a human being he was. He is a woman beating, domestic violent. Yeah. Evil man back in the day. He was. He was. He terrorised Lisa. He was a gangster. And now he's like cuddly old grandgog. I know he terrorised her. Terrorized her.
SPEAKER_00And she had a mental health storyline as well from ages ago.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, maybe.
SPEAKER_00Ahead of their time, East Tenders.
SPEAKER_01They've always been ahead of their time.
SPEAKER_00She was evil though, Lisa.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, you would you turn evil after being beaten the shit out of by your bloke.
SPEAKER_00She was evil. I liked it.
SPEAKER_01I'm all for uh self-defence as a murder weapon.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, for sure.
SPEAKER_01As a motive.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Like pop them.
SPEAKER_01If they'd be beaten you constantly, pop them. You heard it first. I'm saying it.
SPEAKER_00Fuck they should do that. Change the law.
SPEAKER_01I think you can get away with self-defence. Not off the hook, completely.
SPEAKER_00No, but it's probably getting like a couple years.
SPEAKER_01I think you would have to prove that they are literally you're threatened for your life, yeah. To get off Philly. But yeah. This is what we haven't had. I think in more recent years we've had a lot of like relationship um storylines where it's been about like a bit more under-the-radar abuse, but we haven't had like violence in a while, domestic violent relationship. But think back in the day there was loads of that. Was Trevor and Little Mo. Yeah. He tried to kill her.
SPEAKER_00I know. And there was a really good recent one with Grey and Chantel, they were in it. Maybe like three years ago. Yeah. That was crazy because he was he was like a posh guy. And was he violent? Yeah, so it was showing like he happens with anybody.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, for sure.
SPEAKER_00He was like in a suit, and you wouldn't expect beautiful.
SPEAKER_01That was a sensor line. That is my friend's baby mama who played that.
SPEAKER_00Who? Who are we talking about? Chantel. Oh, we see her in Stratham.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, she's they they live in Brixton, I think.
SPEAKER_00I'm like Justice!
unknownChantel!
SPEAKER_00Chantel! Justice for Chantel. But yeah, so they've they have touched on it. They haven't done that in a while.
SPEAKER_01I'm still catching up in that gap, aren't I?
SPEAKER_00No, but they they used to do a lot of the things.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I'm glad they do. It's so important.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Because as well, I think what is a really, really important storyline that it wasn't really told this way with Phil, from what I can remember, but from what you're saying, I imagine it was told this way with Grey. It doesn't usually start with a punch in the face, it's usually slow. Yeah. It's usually like a grab, uh mind gauge, push, a little like something. It definitely starts with the mental stuff, but even the violence starts slowly. It's a grab of the arm too tight or like a push out the way or chuck in stuff. It's never it doesn't start with a punch. Yeah. Because everyone's like, why would you stay? Of course, no one would stay for a punch if that was the first thing that happened to you. But when the violence slowly incrementally gets worse, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Because then Grey killed Chantelle and then really? Yeah, he killed her. Oh my god. And then Chelsea got with Grey. He did the same thing to Chelsea. He did the same thing to her. So that's the baby of the Jordan's dad. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Oh my god, I can't wait. I've got so much to catch up with.
SPEAKER_00Well, that is an infuriating story. I think it's really good. Well done. And I think she killed Chelsea, killed him, correctly, Fine.
SPEAKER_01Is there a person on East Enders that hasn't killed someone?
SPEAKER_00I know! Bunch of cream. Bunch of cream news.
SPEAKER_01No one's like having sleepless nights over it, are you?
SPEAKER_00And they all judge each other.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00I love it when there's a fight, they'll always be like, You can't judge me after you slept with your nan sister's niece. At least I didn't steal my nan's jewellery.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00It's always the nan.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it was always the nan. But also, like I love that the storyline is always murder, but it's never the guilt of the murder. Like, I don't think I've ever seen one person feel guilt for murdering someone. No. Or like they're a storyline where someone's having a sleepless night and they can't handle it.
SPEAKER_00Get what you're given.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, in Wolford, you don't roll with us, you get rolled over. Yeah, you get run over by a card. Roll of us, you get run over. Roll of us, you get shot in the bush. Yeah. That was a great storyline.
SPEAKER_00And then it was who killed Lucy.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. That was another who killed it. Who killed?
SPEAKER_00Who killed?
SPEAKER_01Who killed? And that is so jokes that it was a child. It was Bobby.
SPEAKER_00I know.
SPEAKER_01That's what I've just caught up on more recently. That storyline.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. I wish I looked into that.
SPEAKER_01I think them too have been the main who killed them that have gone on for like a year. That's why they were so big. They were so big. It's because both of them went on for a really long amount of time.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and I think it was kind of not a revolutionary idea, but it's a great concept, isn't it? Of who killed.
SPEAKER_01To go on that long. Yeah. For sure. Yeah. I used to love Lisa.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_01She actually reminded me a little bit of like people I know, like my mum's, my mum, my dad's um ex-wife and her friends. They were similar, like vibe. They really portrayed that like London kind of woman, working class woman sort of thing she did. And even that relationship, I suppose. It's so funny how Phil is just a different person now. I know. But that just shows how amazing an actor is he is, which all comes back to us talking about how amazing Steve McFadden is as an actor.
SPEAKER_00Every episode.
SPEAKER_01We love you, Steve McFadden.
SPEAKER_00We love you.
SPEAKER_01So would you do it? Would you shoot your ex if he done that to you? In the bush. In the bush. In broad daylight. The funny thing about it is I think it was revenge after they'd broken up ages. So well, it weren't even self-defence. It was revenge. But do you know what else cracks me up about East Enders is how easy they all access a gun.
SPEAKER_00Always.
SPEAKER_01Like have you ever even seen a gun in your life?
SPEAKER_00I know. And Phil always has it in a safe with the money. And then it goes missing. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00I know, because who took it recently? Someone took the.
SPEAKER_01Ronnie took it at one point, I remember. Yeah. And she killed one of Roxy's boyfriends once with the gun with the gun.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Do you remember that? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, because he tried to rape her. But like who who gets their hands on a gun that easily?
SPEAKER_00Well they.
SPEAKER_01I wouldn't even know where to start finding a gun.
SPEAKER_00Well, they're they're they're Phil's old time gangster, anyway. So he knows people.
SPEAKER_01He ain't stupid, he ain't stupid. And now he has to have the gun because to keep himself protected.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, because he's got so many haters.
SPEAKER_01Literally. Yeah, because no one suspected her the most because it was a revenge thing. So I if I remember rightly, it was so much long longer after. But who were the suspects? Get it up on your phone.
SPEAKER_00So the suspects, Lisa, Mark Fowler, Lisa's new boyfriend. But he was with her, wasn't he gay? Mark Fowler.
SPEAKER_01He had HIV, but he wasn't gay. I thought he was gay as well.
SPEAKER_00No.
SPEAKER_01He just had HIV.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Right.
SPEAKER_00I think so. Dan Sullivan, the film was a best friend and business partner. I don't remember him.
SPEAKER_01Neither do I. Ian Bill. I don't know. Oh my god, the money I would pay to watch Ian Bill shoot Phil Mitchell. Oh my god, that's a storyline that still needs to happen now. I know that too.
SPEAKER_00Oh my god. Ian Bill's like.
SPEAKER_01No, he could never.
SPEAKER_00No.
SPEAKER_01He could never have the the gill. No, yeah. The balls. He's just out there running running over children instead.
SPEAKER_00Steve Owen?
SPEAKER_01Phil's love rival. Oh, wasn't Steve Owen played by, you know. So Phil had found previously found him having sex with his wife Mel. Oh, do you remember? Steve Owen was played by Martin Kemp, wouldn't he? Yeah. Oh, blasting it. That was an era. That was an era.
SPEAKER_00And Mel Owen, Tams in. Interesting. Phil's One Night Stand Line.
SPEAKER_01Well, what's her name again? Yeah, that was an era. I think bring Martin Kemp back. What do you reckon?
SPEAKER_00He came back, I think, for a little bit, quite recently. Yeah, because he he went to prison.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Oh no, he didn't. That was someone else.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I know. It gets like that. And do you remember Bepe? Do you remember Bepe? That was that era as well.
SPEAKER_00No.
SPEAKER_01Put in Bepe Extenders. If you remember Bepe, comment down below. Bepe was a boy, he was gorgeous as well. I mean, I was about eight years old, but I probably would have found it. Oh, yeah. Do you remember him?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah, yeah. Wow, bottom.
SPEAKER_01I know. Because think eight, oh my god, because I'm two years older than you, which is not much. But at the age of eight, that is a lot. That's why I probably remember that story a little bit clearer. Because I would have been eight and you would have been six.
SPEAKER_00So that who shot Phil was such a good story, like there were so many entwined. There's so many that wanted to shoot Phil.
SPEAKER_01And then yeah, absolutely. And you would have thought Lisa would have been the last, because I think they stopped seeing each other long before. I remember back, it was back when you used to get a TV guide and all their faces were on the TV guide. Like, who was it? I know. I miss that time. I know. I I miss well. This is where I'm a little bit gutted that we found out quite early about what's going to happen on New Year's Day, unless they surprise us again. Unless they surprise us again because um yeah, I love it like the finding out, and you just don't know who it is.
SPEAKER_00And sometimes they find you find out really quickly, and then sometimes, which is good too, because some of them drag out sometimes, but and other times they take ages. It's so clever how they did that.
SPEAKER_01Lucy Bill took a year.
SPEAKER_00You know, with the one quite recently where they did Who did they kill? It was it was Denise, Sharon.
SPEAKER_01Keanu.
SPEAKER_00They killed Keanu, and that went on for ages. Did it? Yeah, they did that quite well.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I love it when they do it well like that. And that's when you think the writers must write like years in advance.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it's mental.
SPEAKER_01They must write at least 18 months in advance.
SPEAKER_00It's mental. And then to write into people's families and then and remember all the bits and the birthdays and the birthdays I think they just make up. It's different every year.
SPEAKER_01It's different every year.
SPEAKER_00Happy 50th next year's happy 42nd.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, literally. Kathy's younger than Ian. It's always just a birthday. Literally. So what's your final dift of? My final drifters is popping one if he if he be pop smacking you about, he deserves it.
SPEAKER_00But then you can argue. Life's an eye, for knife's a knife.
SPEAKER_01An eye for an eye, leaves a whole world blind. No, I wouldn't shoot my ex. That's my final dift-tif. But I would if it was Phil Mitchell. That's my final difty.
SPEAKER_00Not now.
SPEAKER_01He's in his redemption era, but I would have I would have a few years back.
SPEAKER_00He is. The gateways of heaven are accepting him.
SPEAKER_01They are now. He's really redeemed. He's a voice of reason. Nigel's gonna be up there fighting these corner. Voice of reason.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, he's a voice of reason.
SPEAKER_01When did Phil become the voice of reason on the whole of these tenders? Life lessons. They learn, they grow. I wish they did in real life. Do they actually do that? Men. Nah, didn't think so. Anyway, like, subscribe, comment down below.
SPEAKER_00Let us know what you think. Night.
