What is going on, listeners, starting the volume up. Power is back on this Friday night, may 16th. It's your boy, dylan Gatz, from the Mile High City of Denver, colorado, joining with me, as always from Oney Maryland, mr Cruz, with the old school heavyweight championship belt.

Speaker 2

I got the big gold baby Bringing it back, you know.

Speaker 1

John.

Speaker 2

Cena's last run. Go ahead, get festive. Unfortunately, I've not seen backlash yet. Peacock has been screwing me. You're just missing everything, but how has your week been, Mr Gotts? I'm glad to be back with you talking about sports.

Speaker 1

Another week down. Another week. That was a good week. Short week for work. I only worked two and a half days this week, so I'll tell you what we call that a good week. Getting paid for 40, working about 28. So feel like a government worker.

Speaker 2

That's crazy. I had an 11-hour shift this week, but then I had a six-hour shift. Work Works all over the place right now, but hey, as long as we got a job, as long as we get paid, as long as those bills are taken care of, that's right, all fucking true, my guy.

Speaker 1

Yeah, you need to Saturday Night Main Event's next Saturday. I don't know if you know that, but it is next Saturday. You need to figure that out.

Speaker 2

Yeah, yeah'll see how it goes.

Speaker 1

We'll see how it goes, but you were at a comedy show last Saturday. I was, and from what I recall it sounded like you could have missed it.

Speaker 2

I mean it was for a good reason. It was a family member's birthday that we were celebrating, so it was cool to go out. The show was mid at best. Seats are always hard and rough on your butt and when you stand up you feel all stiff and sore, especially once you hit 30. But you know, I mean it was a good time with family. But yeah, now that I still have yet to be able to see Backlash, it's definitely a little bittersweet there.

Speaker 1

Yeah, missed a great classic.

Speaker 2

Yeah.

Speaker 1

That's all I'll say. Just missed a great classic between Cena and Orton.

Speaker 2

I know Gonna have to figure it out.

Speaker 1

You're going to have to figure your life out In that aspect and get that under wraps. As always, you can check us out Podcast platforms for free. Subscribe for free. Five star reviews Click the link in the episode at the top. Send us a fan mail. Suggestions, feedback, comments, x, y and.

NBA Playoffs and Hockey Updates

Speaker 1

At DJPowerHour on social medias. All right, a couple things to get into on this program here. First of all, we've got NBA playoffs on. Right now it's game six of Boston at New York in Madison Square Garden. It's an elimination game for the Celtics. They're down 31 points right now with 348 left in the third. So obviously Jason Tatum tore his Achilles earlier this week and the Celtics are cooked, so they're going to get obliterated. Knicks will go back to the conference finals for the first time in 24 years.

Speaker 1

And then you've got playoff hockey on my multi-view TV to my right Toronto Maple Leafs and the Florida Panthers, 0-0 entering the third period, and you have Florida up 3-2 on the Maple Leafs. The Maple Leafs have not won the Stanley Cup since 1966, I want to say During 1966 and 1964. So you have that. You got Game 7, nuggets and Thunder, I believe, sunday afternoon at OKC. Game 7, right Game 7. That's right. Game 7 for a trip To the Western Conference Finals Against the Timberwolves, who took out the Warriors in 5. Obviously Steph Curry Got hurt game 1 and missed the remaining series, so it would have been Obviously Different story. Yeah, game 7 For the Nuggets Jamal Murray. He had his own Version of the flu game Dropped 25 and, I think, 6 boards. Then you may have Aaron Gordon, doubtful for Game 7, which will be pretty pivotal as far as it's just one of those starting pieces, which means Christian Braun and company is going to have to really pick up their game in the bench. The bench has kind of been non-xistent for the majority of the series.

Speaker 1

Wnba season kicked off, I believe, today. You have Paige Becker making her debut and of course, year two of Kaitlyn Clark, the Dallas Mavericks. They got the first overall pick in the NBA lottery and so Cooper Flagg will be the new face of the franchise, replacing Luka Doncic. The Mavericks had a 1.8% chance of getting their motor overall pick, so I guess there's a God looking after Nico Harrison. You trade Luka to the Lakers. You basically are going to get ran out of town by everybody, and then you land the number one pick, and now you have Cooper Fly coming in. So I mean it must be nice. It just must be nice to have that.

Speaker 2

The way I see it with that man is, nba ratings have steadily been declining, so what happened was behind the scenes. I'm sorry, it's fucking rigged scenes. I'm sorry, it's fucking rigged. You can't tell me that's not fucking rigged because you're gonna tell me that the dallas mavericks are gonna trade probably the most biggest rising young star at the age of 25 I'm pretty sure that's how old he is to the biggest market in the nba to pair him with one of the one of the greatest of this era and the past era. If you want to be technical about that with LeBron James, yep, I'm sorry, that's a whole thank you for doing that. Here's the first overall Do with it what you will 100% fucking rigged. If you want to tell me that sports isn't rigged and you see that shit, I'm sorry. I bet you think strippers like you too, like they, really like you for your personality, fuck out of here.

Speaker 1

They called me honey. What do you mean? They're for it.

Speaker 2

They say they love seeing me every time I come in.

Speaker 1

They do, they do, and I've never been to a strip club, but they do. If I had to take a guess, yeah, I mean, look, you could make a case a couple times where maybe the lottery system is rigged, which now sparked a conversation. Should the NFL go to a lottery system? I don't know. I mean, they get rid to a lottery system.

Speaker 2

I don't know. I mean they get rid of the lottery system entirely.

Speaker 1

I think they should get rid of the lottery system in the NBA. I mean, the lottery system obviously is to discourage tanking, but teams are going to tank anyway and the teams that tank still, like you, have the worst record in the league or one of the three worst records in the league, like the Washington Wizards, for example, and your reward is the sixth overall pick. Right like them and Utah had a 14% chance individually to get the number one overall pick and neither of them got it. And the spurs, who just got victor wimba yama, I believe two years ago now, um, and they got stefan castle, who owned rookie of the year this past, uh, this past season that they drafted. They get the second overall pick. And more than likely, um, if cooper flag wasn't in the in the draft, they would probably draft another rookie of the year, the.

Speaker 1

Spurs are just getting hooked too. It's bananas. It's just bananas. How the lottery system is there. It is what it is. And then both Dallas teams for the WNBA and the NBA got the number one overall pick. By the way, I don't know if anyone realized that, but it's good times in Dallas at the moment, except for football. Yep, except for football, of course, of course, because Cowboys are Cowboys. And then you have the Dallas Stars, who are looking to win Game 6 at home, I believe, tomorrow, get some winning pick Jets and make it back to the Western Conference Finals. So outside of the football, all is well.

NFL Draft Trivia Challenge

Speaker 1

And then, of course, you've got golf. You've got the PGA Championship, the second major of the year in Charlotte, north Carolina, at Quail Hollow. First time it's been back in that course in eight years. Jonathan Vegas no one knows who that is, so I'll tell you who. He is real quick. He has four wins on the tour. He's the first Venezuelan player to lead in a major. He's also the first Venezuelan player to have a 36-hole lead straight out right in the major. He has a two-shot lead over a couple guys Max Homa shot 64 today. Siwoo Kim shot 64 today. Scotty Shefflin, number one player in the world is at five under. He's three shots back. He shot a 68 today, so he'll be in the later panics for the weekend.

Speaker 1

If you just want a quick gambling pick from your boy right now, I would bet Scotty Scheffler to win the tournament. He has not looked good these last two days. They got a ton of rain. The course has been rough, especially on the back nine. A tournament, um. He has not looked good these last two days. They got a ton of rain. The courts has been rough, especially on the back nine. A lot of carry balls really stiff. Greens aren't um, greens aren't pretty firm, so it's just gonna stick um. And the, the green mile, which is the 16th, 17th, the 18th hole, has just decimated players so far these first two days. But for him to play like that he had the double bogey yesterday Still to be three shots back. He's going to be the number one player. He's the number one player in the world for a reason. I would take your money and just bet it on Scheffler to win the tournament, plain and simple. And now, mr Cruz, I believe you have some trivia, just like last week.

Speaker 2

I do I do, I do Now. I think last week we went ahead and we were talking about NCAA football and basketball Number one overall draft pick each school has produced. This time I'm just going to go straight out and ready to go towards the NFL, I want you to name 10 names and those 10 names are the top 10 passing leaders that have never led the league in passing yards.

Speaker 1

Top 10 passing leaders. Like career passing yards, I assume.

Speaker 2

Yes.

Speaker 1

That have never led the league. Never led the league in passing yards. Oh yeah, oh my God, okay.

Speaker 2

We go everywhere, from 80s to 90s to 2000s.

Speaker 1

Jiminy Christmas. Okay, yes, is this, I assume current players? Right, current players can be on there.

Speaker 2

Current players can be on there. Yes, Okay.

Speaker 1

This is a wild one. This is just a wild one-on-one, but just just career longevity.

Speaker 2

Um eli manning's gotta be on there eli manning is on there at number three with 57,023 passing.

Speaker 1

There we go um big ben. I would think he's on there.

Speaker 2

I'm pretty sure he was Led the league At least once. I'm pretty sure it was twice what?

Speaker 1

In passing yards. Yeah, shenanigans, no way. Um, yeah, I'm gonna guess Phillip Rivers, but he may have did it once when the Chargers went like he did it once Isn't that a motherfucker? Um yeah, matty, matt Stafford on here, he did it once. Isn't that a motherfucker, matt?

Speaker 2

Stafford on here. Matthew Stafford is at number four. There we go. Matthew Stafford comes in at 56,047 yards.

Speaker 1

There we go. Russ has got to be on here.

Speaker 2

Russ is on there at number eight with 43,653 yards.

Speaker 1

What was Eli at 57?

Speaker 2

57. So Eli's at three, four and eight Is Matt Ryan on here?

Speaker 1

Matt Ryan leads the bunch.

Speaker 2

Right now Matt Ryan at 62,792 passing yards Bam.

Speaker 1

Okay, perfect. So we got four down, ten to go. I'm going to go, man. I want to say Rodgers is on here. I don't know if he's led the league of passing yards. He's won MVPs, but not because of his passing yards.

Speaker 2

And you would be correct. Number two Silly, At 59,055 passing yards, you have one two, three, four and eight.

Speaker 1

All right, cool, so halfway.

Speaker 2

Now it gets a little bit harder.

Speaker 1

It gets a little bit dicey. Jesus, it diced a little bit dicey Because now we're going to go into the 90s and probably the 80s Still got the 2000s.

Speaker 1

I know we still have the 2000s, but it's not Manning, it's not Brady, it's not Breeze. Okay check, okay check, check, check. I'm gonna go. Oh man, this is, this is gonna be tough. I'm gonna go into the way back machine for a moment. Do we have guys like I don't know, like I know Marino's not on this list. He had to have led the league of passing a bunch of times. Is Aikman on here.

Speaker 2

Aikman is not, at least not in the top ten Is Tony.

Speaker 1

Romo top ten.

Speaker 2

Tony Romo is not top ten. I'm pretty sure he's like 17th or something like that.

Speaker 1

What about Steve Young Montana, Boom Joe.

Speaker 2

Montana at number 10 with 40,551 passing yards.

Speaker 1

Elway's got to be on here.

Speaker 2

Elway's not.

Speaker 1

Wow, that's a little surprising. I know he's probably not on here, because all he did was sling the ball. Brett Favre.

Speaker 2

Brett Favre. I'm pretty sure he led the league twice Makes sense Makes sense.

Speaker 1

Okay, so we got six down. Four to go, let's go, let's go. Terry Bradshaw Nope, let's go. Stahlbeck Nope, let's go, nope, let's go stall back, nope.

Speaker 2

Let's go so right now you have 5, 7, 5, 6, 7, and 9. That's what you're missing right now.

Speaker 1

Who's at 10? Who did I just guess at 10?

Speaker 2

Joe Montagna. Joe Montagna 40,551 passing hours Now I will say two of these are journeymen. 40,551 passing yards Now I will say two of these are journeymen.

Speaker 1

They bounced around on a lot of teams. Man, it's like it's going to be old as dirt, but it's like is Warren Moon on this list? No, he is not. Vinny Testaverde on this list. Vinny Testaverde, at number six 46,233 passing points. All right, all right. So you got five, you got seven and you got nine, Five, seven.

Speaker 2

Oh, is Joe Flacco on this list. Joe Flacco at number seven coming in with 43,936 passing yards.

Speaker 1

Okay, okay, you're missing five and nine man.

Speaker 2

One of them is still a journeyman quarterback Today. No. Oh, okay, I was like what he had kind of a career resurgence with the titans for a year.

Speaker 1

Say that is that air bignere? No wait, you said uh for a year, yeah for a year, oh man. Now I got to think of Titans quarterbacks. It's not man, it's not. It's on Jeff Garcia. Um, it's not like. It's not like McNabb or an Alex Smith or Nope, nope this is tough.

Speaker 2

Number five is a naming. I'll say that.

Speaker 1

It's a name, I what you know. It's a name, I know. Yes, I said like a Carson Palmer, kurt Warner, oh, let's go. Carson Palmer M5.

Speaker 2

46,247 passing yards. Oh God.

Speaker 1

How far back does number nine go in the arrow? Oh my God. Okay, let's see, let's see, let's see, let's see, let's see. 90s and 2000s. God, it's not like I don't fucking know. It's not like I was going to say like Jake Dehome, but it's not Jake Dehome. How many teams they play for? I was going to say Jake Dehome, but it's not Jake Dehome. No, how?

Speaker 2

many teams they play for. That's a good question, Actually. Let me look that up.

Speaker 1

Boy.

Speaker 2

I'm pretty sure at least three.

Speaker 1

Okay.

Speaker 2

Oh, this is tough, let's see.

Speaker 1

Let's see. Let's see 90s and 2000s. What number are they? Number nine.

Speaker 2

Yes, so he played for the Panthers, the Saints, the Giants, the Raiders, the Titans and the Colts, and his last year was with the Colts in 2011. What the f? He was drafted by the Panthers, oh my god, drafted in 95. What the fuck.

Speaker 1

Um.

Speaker 2

Oh my, his career resurgence was with the Titans between 2006 and 20.

Speaker 1

What the hell is with the Titans getting all these? Is it Cary Collins?

Speaker 2

It's Cary Collins. Oh, Cary Collins, at number 9, 922 passing yards. So again, 1 through 10 goes Matt Ryan, Aaron Rodgers, Eli Manning, Matt Stafford, Carson Palmer, Vinny Testaverde, Joe Flacco, Russell Wilson, Kerry Collins and Joe Montagna.

Brock Purdy Contract Discussion

Speaker 1

That is good trivia. Oh man, that was tough. If you would have said Titans, I don't know, because you have to think of who was the quarterback the year before Andrew Luck got to Indianapolis and I just don't remember Kerry Collins being there at all. Curtis Painter? Yeah, okay, exactly, that's a good list right there. There we go. Yeah, that's a good list right there.

Speaker 1

All right, brock Purdy got signed a five-year $265 million deal. What do you want to say? It's deserved or not? I think the quick take is it's what the market dictates. Um, it was when it was his time, you know, to get paid. It's really the kind of the going right now. Um, he has made two mc title games, he has made a super bowl. Now you can, you can say it's, it's a team that he had system, they had yada, yada, yada, yada. He was the last pick of the draft. Okay, like last pick of the draft at the end of the day, like everyone's talking about, hey, tom Brady was picked number 199. Well, brock Purdy was the last pick of the draft and I think, to have so much success and to perform so well, just kind of being thrown into it, yeah, yeah, yeah, I think he's earned a contract.

Speaker 2

For sure. I mean don't get me wrong the quarterback market is so inflated that I feel like any contract that gets presented is fucking asinine. Yes, nine, yes. That being said, brock purdy has done a lot more than first round picks, second round picks, third round picks that have had a supportive customer. Uh, you could definitely say. When he got drafted he had arguably one of the best well put together, well old machine teams in the league for the first couple of years of him playing. But you know, he still has to do the right thing, he still has to make the right read, he still has to get all to the right person and he's done that and that's pretty much all you asked for as a quarterback. So, yeah, I'd now 265 mil a lot of money. It's a lot, you know, especially for a team that's in kind of cap hell yeah you you know, I mean, if they can do it, they're locking down their back.

Speaker 2

Then that's just one less piece they have to worry about.

Speaker 1

To get back to the top, yeah, and it's the most important piece. And they still have Kyle Shanahan. They still have Christian McCaffrey, for whatever that's worth for having those two guys. They still have Kittle Now I believe they still have Iyuk, but Iyuk is a head case, you know. They did lose pieces in Greenlaw and Hufanga. They still have Kittle, obviously traded Debo. They have Jawan Jennings who really stepped up when Iyuk or Debo was out.

Caleb Williams Bears Controversy

Speaker 1

So the hardest part for that team outside of injuries is just it's really a big unknown within just their division Cause Seahawks with Sam Darnold and and some of the pieces they have. You know who knows what, how they're going to click, especially moving away from Kevin O'Connell for Sam Darnold. The Rams are. You know the Rams are probably the favorites to win the NFC East, but I just had to take a guess off the blueprint. And then you have the Cardinals. Cardinals are booty, kyler's booty, and they're going to probably win like five or six games per usual. So you know, san Francisco could definitely get into a wild card spot. They could definitely make some noise if they just have health on their side. And they still have, you know, nick Bosa on the defensive side kind of leaning the helm there.

Speaker 2

But yeah.

Speaker 1

I mean to come in to have that success. I mean it's definitely a warranted success and you know, all it's going to do is just increase the contracts for the next round of guys whose contracts are up. So I mean we're going to get to that point, probably in the next two years. We're hitting $300 million, shit like that.

Speaker 2

It's going to be there, especially with our quarterbacks coming up, when they deserve to get paid. They're definitely going to reset the market yet again.

Speaker 1

Absolutely Speaking of quarterbacks, and then we're getting into some of the scheduled releases. Sam Wickersham is coming out with a book just around quarterbacks as a whole, and there's a lot of interesting pieces around. Caleb Williams number one overall pick last year's draft, I think, hearing some of these things about why he didn't want to go to the bears and his dad his dad's spearheading it I don't like that. Like parents. Dad, chill out, You're not the one that's getting, you're not the one that's playing. Dad, chill out, You're not the one that's playing. Shut the fuck up. This is where apparent influence versus dictation. This is where the fine line needs to come. Jane Daniels' mom she needs to calm down. She needs to back the fuck off and let her son breathe, Live a life. She needs to stop her helicopter parenting. He's a grown man. He's a grown man. He's coming out the van with three women. Let him do his thing, girl.

Speaker 1

I have mixed feelings on that. But anyway, caleb Williams' dad was like yeah, we want partnership, we're going to get drafted by the Bears, we're going to go to the UFL. We refuse to play for the Bears. It's an abysmal organization for quarterbacks. It's where quarterbacks go to die. Look, the Bears have never had a 4,000-yard passer as a quarterback in their history.

Speaker 1

That's like 120 years. That is hard to do Now. To be fair, the Jets have only had one quarterback throw for 4,000 yards, and that was the year they won the Super Bowl with Joe Namath leading the helm. So, like perspective, it's perspective, but it's embarrassing. It's crazy that they I mean they have fucking Jay Cullit for crying out loud. The man who could throw the ball couldn't even get 4,000 yards.

Speaker 2

And he had Brandon.

Speaker 1

Marshall. It's absurd. But anyway, all this hoopla about not wanting to go to the Bears, and X, y and Z, and then it comes to find out from Caleb Williams' perspective that he got. I mean, um, he got. I mean hearing the little support and just like, figure it out, you're the number one pick as far as like watching film and preparation. And there was just no support from the coaches. You know, assuming all this is true, um to just be told to go watch film and he had no guidance or really didn't know what to look for as a, as a rookie in the nfl. Um, look, emmanuel ocho, who I think is he's, he's a fucking joke, he's a clown. Um, he, he, he's, he, he has, he's.

Speaker 1

He was in the nfl, he, he was in the NFL for 20 games. He has 20 games under his belt, that's it. Couldn't make it. So, look, that's 20 more games than me and you. But like, when you talk about like analytical perspective or really about the like from an expert, quote, unquote, like in the game. Like from an expert, quote, unquote, like in the game, I, when I did the research, I found out that's how many games he played and that was it. Like, I don't take that for any fucking value. And he basically said, you know he said it's league, bruh, like you're the number one overall pick. Nfl is different, bruh, you need to watch film. You didn't know how to do this and do that and you sure already know how to study film and watch film.

Speaker 1

But I think, I think I feel bad for Caleb Williams in this case, and Shane Waldron, his offensive coordinator, is fucking terrible, absolutely fucking terrible, like, absolutely fucking terrible. Like, if this is Jayden Daniels, for example, right, because he was the number two overall pick and it came out that he you know he said that he didn't get any support watching film and his performance, you know his performance wasn't as great as a number two or all picture B. Like would we feel? Would we have the same response to Jaden Daniels as we would for Caleb Williams, or is it going to be, you know, really not fair for the kid? He's just a rookie. You know he really got put in a tough spot.

Speaker 1

Like the NFL is different A lot of X's and O's and a lot of different executions and strategies to kind of be prepped for. And watching film in college is different from watching film in the NFL, just different from watching a film in the NFL. Like, I think, because of Caleb Williams' personality and some of the hoopla coming out of the draft, similar to, like you know, shador Sanders, deion Sanders type I think people are kind of using that against them to be like shut up, you're the number one pick, figure it out, type of thing. I think that's wrong.

Speaker 1

I think I think it's a horrible look for the organization for the Bears even more and I would be very hesitant, if I was Caleb Williams, for what my future looks like in that organization as far as re-signing, because a rookie's a rookie, the NFL is the NFL for a reason and I I just couldn't, I couldn't imagine, as a head coach, to to look in my, my rookie quarterback, my, my franchise quarterback, my, this supposed to be my guy for the next 15 years, and my offensive line is terrible, so he's getting blown up anyway, like yeah, he got steamrolled as a rookie and then to be like Go watch film and figure it out Like what?

Speaker 2

He's going to treat him like dog, water and be surprised that he performs like dog water.

Speaker 1

And, by the way, I mean he only threw six picks as a rookie, he didn't throw up all over himself.

Speaker 2

And I'm pretty sure a majority of those picks were in the first half of the season.

Speaker 1

They were.

Speaker 2

I just I don't really get the mindset of the Bears and I mean I hate to say it that's why certain sections stay trash is because of the people in the box office, the people behind the desks, and how they treat players and how they approach the game. And you know, I had a lot of hope for I think it was Ryan Pulse coming in making a lot of moves. If a player knows what it's like to be in the league, even though he wasn't quite successful in the league, it's sad to see. Especially with the offensive coordinator you were talking about, there's a reason why he's so. Hopefully there might be a little bit of Bears magic. I still think they need a lot more help on the defensive side of the ball. But you know, sometimes there's more than meets the eye to headlines in the NFL and you know it begs to differ the question.

Speaker 2

I've also been reading up on some of Shador's stuff and it's like the main reason, like arguments that pretty much I feel like Shador got during the whole draft process. The main thing teams didn't like is that Shador didn't thought about Meaning, he believed in himself. The main thing teams didn't like is that didn't thought about Meaning, he believed in himself. Don't get me wrong, you and I are very we think very differently than most people on the Shador Sanders top, especially with the way he plays the game. Yeah, but, like I said, there's a lot of narratives, especially with Mr Caleb Williams. I don't know if we can see something similar next season with the Browns and with, or at least with the Giants and with Shador Sanders, but Caleb Williams, at this point, you know, I feel like they've definitely built a team around him to succeed and at the point, you know, I feel like they've definitely built a team around him to succeed.

Speaker 2

And at the end of the day, yeah, you draft it into a shitty situation, but a lot of people are, you know, a lot of people are and they thrive, or they leave and they go somewhere else. At this point, what are you going to do about it? It's kind of the same situation with Chidora. In my opinion, it sucks. It sucks that you got dealt a shitty hand for a team that didn't care about you, that pretty much was going to hold you hostage in your minds, threatened to go to UFL. They said they were going to draft you anyway, and you know I mean it is what it is.

Speaker 2

It sucks. You showed flashes. You showed the player that was worthy of being the number one overall. Pick Now filled the player that was worthy of being the number one overall pick.

Speaker 1

Now you supposedly have a coaching staff back. What are you going to do, bro? What are you going to do? You got Ben Johnson as the offensive coordinator in there now, or head coach? Sorry, you got Ben Johnson as the head coach. They drafted Luther Van Burnen. They stacked your whole line and gave you just weapons across the board, of course. So yeah, at the end of the day, you're drafted number one for two reasons. One, it's a potential and what the ceiling could be for your talent, what you've done in college, et cetera, et cetera. Two, you're drafted number one because a shitty organization needs you and they and they need they need you so bad that they take you first off the board.

Speaker 2

Right.

Speaker 1

Um, yeah, I mean, and, and the bear, I mean you know what, to the bear's credit, as as dysfunctional as they were last year. Like they, they start off good, like they were I think they were 4-2 or something or 5-2 going into the game against the Commanders and then they, you know, lost on the Hail Mary and it kind of like shit just went downhill after that.

Speaker 2

Oh, yeah, for sure, definitely uploaded their team, especially with the way the whole team you know what's-his-name getting caught celebrating and saying give it up the Hail Mary touchdown, you know it. Just it kind of goes bad. You know, the play calling clock management in that game was just fucking. Yeah, it was just fucking absolutely so.

2025 NFL Schedule Release

Speaker 1

We'll see how this shapes out for year two, for Kayla Williams. Alright, so one quick thing before we get into 2025 schedules, because schedules were released this week. You see the SI Swimsuit edition of Libby Dunn. I mean, my god, my god.

Speaker 2

God.

Speaker 1

She can hang on me. That's all I'll say. She can just hang on me.

Speaker 2

If she asked you to bark, would you bark?

Speaker 1

I'll bark however many different breeds you want me to bark. Like, yeah, she, yeah, what a friggin smoke show. I don't care if she's skinny blonde, but what a. Paul Skeens is just the luckiest SOB on the fucking planet. It's ridiculous. And then he saw the Hayek also luckiest SOB on the fucking planet, it's ridiculous. And then and then and then she saw the Hayek also. I mean, she, yeah. If she asked me to bark, I'll bark however many different ways you want me to bark. She's 50, she's 58.

Speaker 1

Yeah, I mean, she don't crack, man, she don't, she ain't cracked yet I just she ain't look, she ain't cracked yet she would make me crack. I'll tell you what.

Speaker 1

Um, yeah, 58, good lord, I mean god bless, I mean, what a great year for ss swimsuit additions. Um, all right. 2025 schedule release came out this week, of course. A couple highlights Week one kicks off with the Eagles at home against the Cowboys NFC East matchup to kick off the season, chiefs have seven primetime games, of course, and they have a couple teams who have. I think the Falcons have six primetime games, which is just kind of wild Commanders, I think, have five primetime games, five or four, some shit like that we do, including a home game on Christmas Day against the Cowboys. I think that's right, pretty sure that's right.

Speaker 2

I'm pretty sure we have a Spain game too, you do?

Broncos and Commanders Game Predictions

Speaker 1

You are going to Madrid to play Tua Tags and the Dolphins. The Knicks are up by 35 with a minute to go, so they are about to head to the Eastern Conference Finals. Celtics are cooked. Better luck next year. Tatum will probably be out the majority of the year, if not the entire year. We're covered from Achilles Alright Schedule releases. They actually came out out. They came out in order For both our teams. Everyone knows how this goes. This is like year 6 of doing schedule predictions. We're going to do part 1 this week. We're going to wrap it up for part 2 next week With a recap of part 1 from today. Mr Cruz, I think we should do. I think the first 8 games Give or take, get the bulk of the season for next week, week one. I will let you kick it off with the commies.

Speaker 2

All right, all right. So week one We've got old division rivals against the New York Giants. This being said, new York Giants, I feel like, had one of the better off-seasons than most teams. A lot of people might say differently. I feel like they got probably one of the best defensive players, if not the best defensive player, in the draft, in Abdul-Arder, and I think that they got one of the best all-around football players for your team in Cam Scadamo. Both players, they're high motors. They'll go ahead, change game just with their mindset alone. Desperately needed.

Speaker 2

May have traded up a lot to get Jackson Dart in the draft, but if it pays off, I think he has a lot more upside than Daniel Jones ever did. That being said, they got Brian Burns, they got Kevon Thibodeau, they got Dexter Lawrence. They have a lot of pieces on that defense. That was a top-ten unit in their heyday of last season. If their offense can get behind neighbors and Jackson together, it'd be a really scary time for the NFC East. That being said, it ain't going to happen week one. I can tell you that it's going to take a lot longer. So I'm seeing the season starting out a way in 1-0 against the Giants, and Jake Daniels keeps rolling.

Speaker 1

Week 1 division win Clutch, that's critical. Broncos home game against the Tennessee Titans and Cam Ward's debut Titans are cooked. Cam Ward's debut Titans are cooked. Cam Ward's going to be cooked. Week one You're going to go into Denver home opener as your debut against the third best defense overall in the league last year, who only upgraded with Greenlaw Hufanga, drafted Jahab Barron to play opposite of the reigning defensive player of the year, like, I'm sorry, engelhard, right, no, no, no, can't more. Go get rocked. Broncos are going to be rolling on defense offense. They're going to piss me off for the first half. Probably per usual, it'll be like a.

Speaker 2

I'm going to call you out on Twitter.

Speaker 1

Yeah, it'll be like a 10-3 game or some shit like that. Yeah, it'll be like a 10-3 game or some shit like that, and then they'll just put up a good 10 to 14 points in the second half and we'll roll into week one. So we're going to win week one. We're going to spoil Cam Ward's debut in the NFL. Hopefully we get a pick six on defense and just welcome him into the league. All right, week two. I'll kick it off for week two, defense and just welcome him into the league. Week 2. I'll kick it off for week 2.

Speaker 1

We are going to Indianapolis to play another team with a garbage quarterback situation at the moment the Indianapolis Colts. It could be Daniel Jones, it could be Anthony Richardson, it could be Joe Flacco, it could be Peyton Manning, it could be Andrew Luck, it don't fucking matter. Daniel Jones' ass. Daniel Jones is ass. Anthony Richardson is ass. Anthony Richardson is overrated, overhyped. It was overdrafted. He could barely complete 40% of his passes. I think we're going there and Jonathan Taylor may do okay. Alec Pierce may get a couple catches across the middle or some shit like that. But I think at the end of the day, the Colts offense. They will need time to gel. I don't think Anthony Richardson is their guy. I think he will struggle and I think the Broncos come out of Indy Going 2-0.

Speaker 2

Alright, that's fair, I like it. So week 2 we have commanders At Green Bay. Now it's going to be a big game. This season. Commanders have, I think, like the eighth toughest schedule or something like that. Sixth.

Speaker 1

Yep eighth.

Speaker 2

All right. Well, this is where it starts off, going into Lambeau Field. You know the past four times that Washington has faced Green Bay, we split the series 2-2. It's always a good game. Make it a one-dimensional game and we can, for the most part, contain Josh Jacobs. The thing is at that point Jordan Love's got to beat you with his arm and, yeah, he can throw a lot. He ain't really got that clutch factor yet. Now, depending on how our second-round pick, trey Amos, meshes well with Lattimore and Sandstrill. You know it's yet to be seen, but I'm really high up there, especially with safety we got from the Saints this offseason. You know it's a new, improved unit. I think if we make Jordan Love try to win the game, it's not going to come down to it and I can see us starting the year out 2-0, upset on the road against the Packers, okay, okay.

Speaker 2

And then we go ahead and we go to week three, yep, and we are home, home, sweet home, against the Las Vegas Raiders.

Speaker 1

The Raiders, the Raiders.

Speaker 2

Ascigenti Ascigenti Brock Bowers.

Speaker 1

Geno Smith.

Speaker 2

Max Crosby, Max Crosby. Those are the three things we have to watch out for. Christian Wilkins too. That was a big sign of the defensive line.

Speaker 1

Jacoby Myers. Jacoby Myers bought out. He did For the Raiders.

Speaker 2

That's who you're playing. I'm sorry. The Raiders are definitely going to rebuild. They got the right pieces there. It just ain't enough. Yet it ain't enough. I do not trust Geno Smith to lead a resurgence and completely revamp the Raiders, so we're going to start the year out 3-0.

Speaker 1

Okay, okay, all right, all right.

Speaker 1

Off to a good start there in the NFC East. We're going to go to LA. We are going to play the Chargers First division game. It's always close matchups with us and the Chargers anywhere from a three to seven point, always a one possession game, unless they shit the bed in the first half and it's 24-0, like it was last year when we went to LA in the first half. But whatever, we're not going to, it's fine. It's last year Good to focus on this year.

Speaker 1

I think it's going to be another one score game. I think it's going to be like a 24-20 game. I think the Chargers and Harbaugh are going to win. I like a 24-20 game. I think the Chargers and Harbaugh are going to win. I think we're going to see Omari and Hampton actually run fucking wild on the Broncos, and it's going to make me a little irritated that we decided to not draft him and the Chargers drafted him two picks after us in the first round. So I don't all they have is Ladd McConkie. They have Nanji Harris and of courseari Hampton back there, and then Herbert you know Herbert's. Herbert's a good quarterback, harbaugh's a great coach. So, um, I think I think it's early enough for the Chargers team fully healthy. Um, they can. They can do a little bit of damage. It's going to sting to lose first division game, but I will give the Chargers 2% credit for getting the win in week three.

Speaker 2

Okay, that's fair. That is fair Now week four what you got.

Speaker 1

Week four. We are then back home against the Cincinnati Bengals and my heart's going to be torn in a million directions just because of Joey Burrow and Jamar Chase and them boys at LSU guys. I think we bounce back and get a big home win against the Bengals. Their defense is ass. I don't think Trey Hendrickson is going to be there when it's all said and done, and I think a month, five, six weeks into the flow of the offense, I think we'll be able to be a little more consistent.

Speaker 1

I think this is where RJ Harvey is going to kind of prove himself as a lead running back. I think he has a big game Our receivers outside of Sutton it's a mystery with second third-year guys and Mims and Vele. We do have Evan Ingram, so we have that going for us as well to take us off the pressure. But I think it's going to be a back and forth type of game. I think if Burrow and Chase get stifled by Sertain and just that pass rush for the majority of the first half, I think it's going to be a pretty open close shot case for us and I think we bounce back with a week four win going to 3-1. And the Bengals always suck the first six weeks of the season.

Speaker 2

No, for sure, it takes them a while to get everything figured out, correct?

Speaker 2

Yes, we know that it's every year. Yeah, every year. Week four we are at Atlanta, oh oh, and the regular season. Last year there was fireworks, especially with the Falcons. We kind of squeaked one out. I'm not going to lie. That being said, I feel like Michael Penix Jr. He's going to have a full offseason With the start of reps. I definitely do like the upside with Michael Penix Jr. He came in, he made some crazy throws, he's poised in the pocket, he can go ahead and he's definitely the guy that they drafted to Kirk, maybe a little bit earlier than they had hoped for.

Speaker 2

But, you know he's still that guy. And especially, the biggest thing this offseason is their two positions and the draft for their pass rushers. You know that's something Atlanta has been seeing for a very long time. They've tried multiple times and hopefully, with the duo they took, it might be different but that's why we went ahead and we got Laramie Thompson and the best pass blocker in the draft, and Josh Conley Jr. We did it strictly to keep Jane Daniels upright and I'm sorry if you give me Jane Daniels upright fourth quarter game, I'll take Jane Daniels every time, I just really will.

Speaker 1

So, that being said, week four we are going to be four and up, oh, and we are going to beat the Atlanta Falcons. Oh my God.

Speaker 2

Then that takes us to week five Pandemonium Against the Chargers in LA, and I think this is where the smooth sailing kind of stops at this point hits a rock hits a rock in the road gets a little bumpy and. I think Justin Herbert with Ladd McConkie Ladd McConkie is fucking sneaky man he's kind of the recipe of how Hunter Renfro was when he came into the league.

Speaker 2

People looked down on him, didn't think he could do what he could do. And he went ahead and he made a pick. And that being said, amari and Hampton, you know if he can run against Denver, he can sure as hell run against Washington. That being said, you know I feel like this is where we go ahead and we take our against the LA Chargers at home. The road magic stops at that point.

Speaker 1

Hey, look, it's hard to go 17-0 in the regular season. Um, it is. Yeah, I mean, that's fair. Lab McConkie a dog, actual, he a bulldog. He's a Georgia bulldog. I think he had 1200 yards last year as a rookie just fucking absurd. He was the number one weapon by far. Everyone knew the ball was always going to him, but yeah, he would average like 6 catches for like 100 plus yards. A freaking game in a tutty. He is what Hunter Renfro was supposed to be coming out of the draft from Clemson and I just don't see McConkie outside of. And he had injuries too and he played through it. Yeah, I mean. Look, I think the yeah, I mean, and I'm not picking the Chargers to win division like some people are already. I think I hear that script every year. It's the same shit every year. But hey, look, traveling across the country, you know Chargers could be a good team early and then they could collapse. So nothing wrong with being 4-1 in the first five weeks of the season. We are going to Philly. We are going to be at Philly for week five.

Speaker 1

This might be the worst game of the season for the Broncos. I think they get obliterated. I think this is why you brought in Greenlaw. This is why you brought in Hufanga, because if you're going to contain Barkley, then you've got to contain Goddard, aj Brown and Devontae Smith or you've got to contain Hurts. Bounce out of the pocket. That offensive line is ridiculous. Their defense is also still ridiculous. That offensive line is ridiculous. Their defense is also still ridiculous.

Speaker 1

Aquanion, mitchell, cooper, degene, all entering year two, jalen Carter freaking, nolan Smith, fucking every goddamn Georgia Alabama player, jahan Campbell. I think this will be ugly. It will be a bloodbath, in my opinion. It will be sad, but that will be the worst game of the season. Get that out early, um, and we will be three and two going into, uh, week six. And with week six I believe we are going, oh, we go to london. That's oh shit. That's a 7 Bruh, 7.30 in the morning, my time. That's devastating. We are going to London to play the Jets and I think we will absolutely destroy the Jets. Their defense is going to be the best part of the team. They lost to Monte Adams. Justin Fields is going to be a big unknown at quarterback. I think by week six they're still not going to have everything kind of clicking. Yeah, and I think the Jets are just bad. So I'm going to go with the Broncos to be four and two after six weeks.

Speaker 2

That's not bad man. I mean like We'll take it.

Speaker 2

The Jets jet lagged. I mean, like, we'll take it, the Jets jet lagged. I mean I mean, yeah, it's a no-brainer, for sure it's a no-brainer. Okay, so that was week six, right? Yep, all right, our week six is a matchup of a game we just spoke about and it is the Commander's second primetime game, a Monday night game against the Chicago Bears at home. Yet again, the Bears, the Bears Rematch. You know, rematch. Yeah, like I said, hail Mary 2.0, maybe We'll see. Yeah, first game, it was boring until the final four or five minutes of the game. Fucking Christ, it was a fucking stalemate.

Speaker 2

That being said, you know, ben Johnson's come in revamped the team Looks like he, aged about 50 years already, hasn't even been there a full year yet Went ahead. Luther Burden, you know they went ahead. They key people. They went ahead. They went in the draft to help bolster the team and all. Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. I still don't think it's enough. I still don't think it's enough. I think the Bears are too much in turmoil. I think that everything. I think Ryan Poles is slowly losing the team. I feel like if they were to hire Ben Johnson, they should have done it last year and you know, especially with all this coming out now about the book. I don't think it's going to help morale, I don't think it's going to help team chemistry and I'm a big guy on team chemistry and I don't think by week six they're going to figure it out. Commanders win Going into week seven, five and one Beating the Chicago.

Speaker 1

Bears, jay Daniels is going to go 2-0 against his quarterback that got drafted ahead of him.

Speaker 2

Yeah, yep, yep, it's fully, totally believe that. And then we go to week seven Yep, fully, totally believe that. And then we go to week seven. Yep, week seven to me is a trap game Because we went ahead and we split this series last year and, to be fair, the second well, I mean, yeah, we kind of beat them with Marcus Moriota last year too. Second, well, I mean, yeah, we kind of beat them with Marcus Mariano the last year too. Week seven is going up against the Cowboys at home. Well, cowboys in Dallas, I should say these are always trap games, in my opinion, because these games never go how you think they're going to go. That being said, the only thing that kind of worries me is Dante Fowler Jr signed with the Cowboys, and Dante Fowler Jr was a standout for the Commanders last season, led our team in sacks I think it was like 12 and a half, probably his best season to date. And the fact that the Cowboys only signed him for $6.5 million like we couldn't fucking give him $6.5 million that's crazy.

Speaker 1

I love that. You got a stadium to build. You got a quarterback to pay yeah turn it turning down money.

Speaker 2

That being said, they also lose a wide receiver. They just got George Pickens.

Speaker 1

They traded for Pickens. So they have Seedy, and then they've got Jake Ferguson. They brought in Javante Williams. That will be a non-factor. They drafted Zach Martin or Tyrone Smith for placement and Tyler something.

Speaker 2

Yeah, I don't think that's enough. Man George Pickens, he's a wild card. He'll probably go for 75 yards and a touchdown, or he'll probably go for three drop passes and 25 yards. And not to mention I've already heard that's a rocky relationship from the start, ever since he's been to the Cowboys. He's to next year when he's a free agent. I mean, I just there's a lot of dysfunction in Jerry world and I don't think the Cowboys will truly go back to being the Cowboys until Jerry steps down or dies. I don't the Cowboys will truly go back to being the Cowboys until Jerry steps down or dies.

Speaker 2

Yeah, see, that's the thing. I don't see him stepping down. I see him dying in that front office GM, almost head coach-like role he likes to take so seriously Because he's more concerned about making money than actually being a successful football team. That being said, I think we're going to week eight, six and one, as we beat Dallas Cowboys at home and I know what you're thinking.

Speaker 1

I know what you're thinking. They make it to the NFC.

Speaker 2

Championship what? No, you know what you're thinking. I'm about to get it. They make it to the NFC Championship. What? No no no, you know what? Nope, nope. We're not the same team we used to be. We have a different culture. I'm a big culture guy. We have probably one of the brightest young stars at quarterback in the NFL.

Speaker 1

I agree with that.

Speaker 2

Six and one going into week eight. We're going to be six and one going.

Speaker 1

Look, hearing your schedule. I'm not saying it's not possible.

Speaker 2

I didn't say anything.

Speaker 1

I didn't say shit. First of all, let's put the record I didn't say shit about your predictions. Also, cowboys fans, I don't want Jerry Jones to die, but until he dies he's going to be in Jerry world until the end of time. It just, unfortunately, is what it is. Week where are we at Seven? Week seven we're at home against the Giants. This could be a trap game for about a quarter and a half because of the Giants' defense, but our defense is going to be better. Jackson Dart is going to be seeing fucking ghosts in orange uniforms all over the place. The Giants are terrible. I think we win comfortably going into Week 8. By Week 8, we would be five and two. So you know we're right there Six and one, five and two.

Speaker 2

That ain't bad man. That ain't bad for two sophomore quarterbacks.

Speaker 1

Ain't bad for two sophomore quarterbacks. Week eight this is a home game against the Dallas Cowboys. My brother-in-law, who I love dearly, is a diehard Cowboys fan and at some point that day either I'm going to hear from him a hundred times or I'm going to hear from him once saying don't talk to me for 24 hours. If he wants to come out to this game to see an ass whooping, he can let me know. I think the Cowboys take it on the chin and both home and away from the Commanders and the Broncos. I think Pickens is going to be irrelevant. I think he'll have like a two catches for 14 yards type of game, Javante going up against his forward team. You know it's going to be a nice story, but I saw the last two years here. He ain't going to get like more than three yards a carry, so he'll be a non-factor.

Speaker 1

The Broncos have owned the Cowboys, I believe, five of the last six matchups and I think that trend continues. I think by this point I think RJ Harvey is really going to be rolling and I think just the I think the offensive playbook. Now we're at a year and a half or some change under Bo Nix's belt, under all the guys' belts. I think that that point will be in clicking into a higher gear from an offensive perspective, versus like week 11 or week 12 last year with just that repetition. So I have us going at six and two in the first eight weeks of the season. It's a great start, considering we still have the Chiefs to deal with twice and for the entire year in our division. This is just looking at the schedule, looking at the opponents. I don't want to say I'm spot on. I feel pretty spot on so far about this.

Speaker 2

It's crazy the difference a year makes. Hey, that's true. It's crazy because if we had these schedules last year, we'd be like 4-4 at best at best, oh yeah, 100% and that's wishful thinking oh yeah, we'd be 3-5.

Speaker 1

We'd be 3-5, maybe 2-6. Maybe. A whole rookie quarterbacks make a big difference, regime changes make a big difference, but we can't Continuity as well makes Makes a big difference too, just as far as repetition and working with the same people.

Speaker 2

Right, I'm pretty sure this is the first time the Commanders are going to have the same starting quarterback as the year prior, since like 2015,. 2016. So Kirk, it's like Kirk, yeah, so crazy shit, man. It's at different times in both Denver and Washington. The week eight is another bump in the road. Oh now, I know this game is going to be hyped up.

Speaker 2

It's going to be the established for the up and coming. It's going to be at Kansas city. Oh oh no. I think the commanders are a better team and I would love to see them up against it. Buddy Arrowhead is different. You can ask any player that's played there. You can hear them talk about it. Arrowhead is loud. It's a different environment.

Speaker 2

Yep about it. Arrowhead is loud, it's a different environment. Yep, it it. It really is. It's, it's alarming. I can only imagine as a player going there, especially for the first time in a primetime game, and I just I don't think the commanders are ready for that just yet. I don't. I think it's going to be a big wake-up call going. It's going to be a little bit humbling and I think that we are going to go ahead and take the loss, leaving the Commanders being at 6-2 going into Week 9.

Speaker 1

There is nothing wrong with losing to the Chiefs at Arrowhead, by the way, in a primetime game. It just is what it is, man. It's Pat Mahomes and Andy game. It just is what it is, man it's Pat Mahomes and Andy Reid.

Speaker 2

It really is. Travis Kelsey is probably going to be waking up for his Taylor Swift hangover at that point. Dave, your word of these is probably going to fucking torch our safety. It's going to be something else, man. It's going to be something else. I think it'll go right back into week nine and still hold safety. It's it's gonna be something else, man. It's gonna be something else. And you know what? I think you know. Go right back into week nine and still whole half of the season left to talk about you're.

Speaker 1

You're a big, you're a big conspiracy guy, especially with the nfl. Is this, is this a game where you see some, some bullshit, chicanery, late call to help the Chiefs to set up to win the game? Or is this a Chiefs just kind of rolled from start to finish and we got shook for the first quarter and we just couldn't get it consistently going?

Speaker 2

Don't get me wrong. I feel like the first scenario you brought up happens a lot, especially last year no kidding, no fucking kidding but I think this is more of a situation like the nfc championship game, where kind of got shook by the spotlight, kind of took a while to get settled and by that point, when it did get settled, it was too late and you had to do dumb shit to try to make up that loss. I think at this point we're probably going to lose by at least 10. At least 10.

Season Prediction Recap

Speaker 2

I think it's going to be a two-throw game. I think we're going to give them a run for their money. I think it's going to be a two-throw game. I think we're going to give them a run for their money. I think we'll still score, probably 20 points, 24 points. I do think that Kansas City will go ahead, and they will. They're going to make light work. They're going to use that crowd probably the loudest crowds in all of the NFL, and you know, I just think it's going to be. It's going to be more experience for Jaden Daniels.

Speaker 1

You know, I just think it's going to be more experience for Jaden Daniels.

Speaker 2

You know, yeah, it's going to be more experience for that young offense, for the defense that's still kind of trying to figure it out and you know it's going to be a loss. It's going to take your bumps, lick your wounds, figure out what happened, why it happened, take it into week nine.

Speaker 1

So I mean, but yeah, I don't think it's going to be. Okay, just curious, yeah, okay, okay, just curious. I mean, like I said, it's primetime at Arrowhead with Pat Mahomes and Andy Reid on the other side. I mean, it's just Now, jaden is magic in primetime, but I just I don't think it's going to happen. That's true, he may make an interesting late, but you know who's also magic in prime time? Fucking number 15 for fucking Anderson. Fucking Patrick Rums. Fucking Patrick Rums. Alright, so recap for the first eight weeks Got Broncos at 6-2. Beating the Titans. Beating the Colts. Losing to the Chargers. Beating the Bengals losing to the Eagles. Beat the Jets Giants. Cowboys. Cruz. Has the Commanders at 6-2 going into week 9. Beating whoever he said they were going to beat.

Speaker 2

Nah, we're beating the Giants, the Packers, the Raiders, the Falcons Bears, the Cowboys, Losing against the Chiefs and the other AFC West Chargers.

Speaker 1

We will do second half of the season next week, weeks 9 through 17. There may or may not be a clash of a matchup between the two hosts of this show. Who knows Could be a primetime game. I don't know. I mean, that's just. That's just what I've seen and heard. Um, also, article came out of the washington post, uh, about some food critic who rated the best fast food chicken tender. So I definitely want to get into that next week because, um, she's ass, um, as far as her review is concerned. So good to get into that and much more, of course. As always, check us out for free on all podcast platforms, five-star reviews. Leave some comments, suggestions, feedback and more at the link above the episode, at social media, at DJ Power Hour.
