This is Zach and welcome to Reads on the Bitcoin Well podcast. It's April 1st and we have a big announcement today. After months of internal conversations, working groups, and a lot of soul searching, Bitcoin Well has officially launched carbon neutral Bitcoin Purchasing. And we're going to read you the full press release because we think it speaks for itself. This one is important. Bitcoin Well introduces carbon-neutral Bitcoin purchasing. At Bitcoin Well, we've always believed that doing the right thing and doing the smart thing are the same thing. Today, we are proud to take the most important step in our company's history. Effective immediately, Bitcoin Well customers can opt into our carbon neutral Bitcoin program at checkout, a first of its kind initiative that allows you to offset the environmental footprint of your Bitcoin purchase in real time at the point of transaction. Because buying the hardest money in history shouldn't come at the planet's expense. How it works. The process is simple. When you complete a Bitcoin purchase through the Bitcoin Well portal, you'll see a new option. By selecting this option, a small percentage of your transaction, just 4%, will be directed to a portfolio of certified carbon offset projects working to neutralize the environmental impact of Bitcoin mining. Projects include reforestation initiatives, renewable energy development, and methane capture programs selected for their verified impact and third-party certification. The result is a Bitcoin purchase you can feel good about, not just financially, but environmentally. Why this matters? We'll be honest with you, this was not an easy conversation internally. Bitcoin mining consumes real energy. That is not a bug. As we have written before, the energy expenditure is the point. It is what makes the network secure, the ledger immutable, and the supply truly fixed. We've never shied away from defending proof of work on its merits. But we also believe that acknowledging a real world impact and taking steps to address it is not a contradiction of Bitcoin's values. It is an extension of them. Personal responsibility, voluntary action, no mandates, no regulations, no government program, just individuals choosing to do more with what they have. That is what the carbon neutral Bitcoin program is. A choice, entirely optional, available to every Bitcoin well customer starting today. Who is this for?
