Adam Kaufman, Thorb, and Sia Nejad on the Betting News Network, "No Plays Off," chat with the COO of Pull Wax, Daniel Claro, about the world of Sports Cards & the growing fad of "Live Breaks."

They also dive into Bam Adebayo's 83 point game & so much more in the world of sports this week!

SPEAKER_02

Come on, man. You don't make that baby, take no days off. The mother plans every day that they plays off. The mother plans every day that they stays off.

unknown

Add him plays.

SPEAKER_01

Where'd Adam go? Who cares? Let's get it. Yeah, that's fair. That's totally fair. Thor, how you doing today, buddy? No plays off. One o'clock on a Thursday. Colin Morakawa withdrew from the players, so that's cool. How you doing, bud?

SPEAKER_03

Oh, yeah, it's great. Um, I don't have a single lineup in DFS that does not have a withdrawal because now Ryan Fox is out as well. Um and that is 100% of my lineups and$600 of entries.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, uh I had a little less entries, uh I but I am uh 100% gone in my DFS lineups as well. I had Colin Moracow a lock button. I did have Ryan Fox in a couple. I call more cow everywhere.

SPEAKER_03

I'd call 80%, yeah. And then the the the two that didn't have it also had Ryan Fox.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, that's brutal. Yeah, lighting.

SPEAKER_03

All right, boys. How you doing?

SPEAKER_04

Great. How are you? Why are you late? What's going on here? Because I'm trying to play with my setup here a little bit, not a euphemism for anything. And before I had the you know, the TV behind me with the Boston skyline or whatever I normally use on this show, and I moved it aside. So now you can now you can see all my trinkets and choskkies and junk. Yeah, I know. But uh now I'm like the camera's not working right. I don't know. I don't have the high quality tech over there that Thjorb does, but uh I'm I'm trying to figure I'm trying to figure it out. Also, go ahead. Stomach's a little upset. I'm not gonna lie to you. Stomach's not feeling great at this very second.

SPEAKER_01

The background is so perfect because we all know you as a hoarder, and like now we can capture it for at least the next hour with all of those. Like, correct me if I'm wrong, DVDs behind.

SPEAKER_04

Alex, full screen this. This is uh yeah, this. I mean, this is some real hoarding right now. So many bobbleheads, man. Lot of bobbleheads, a lot of just sort of yeah, that's that's DVDs. I'm not some people have mistaken that Sia as as books. No, sir. I am not. I think I read nerd. I am not that well read. No, that is uh that is largely DVDs. Even some, I don't know that they were in the shot, but there are even some VHSs in there for people that are old enough to remember what in the world those are. Sure. Good to see you guys. Thorb has no idea what a VHS is.

SPEAKER_03

Of course I do, dude. Once again, I am old. Also, nice haircut. Old.

SPEAKER_04

Thanks. It's a bedhead. I've got I got a BNN hat. How about this?

SPEAKER_01

Ooh.

SPEAKER_04

Huh? That's nice.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, that actually that really is nice.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, it's a nice hat. Got this from our guy SPJ out of the out of the screen. I know that guy. Yeah, he's nice. He's sending all of us some things, actually. Uh see you, true to form, order to polo.

SPEAKER_01

That's right.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, it will be full high top button when you see it. You know what sucks? I the here's the worst part that I'm dealing with right here. I logged in on a different browser because I couldn't get my camera to work where I normally log in. And so now I'm like a guest like everybody else, as opposed to you guys that are seeing the back end stuff. So I can't, I don't know that I see all the the comments coming through. I gotta figure out how to do whatever.

SPEAKER_01

We do have a comment from our esteemed producer Alex saying UMass is up 85 to 81. So that's something.

SPEAKER_04

I saw a lot. I I I was not invested in this game, but I saw a lot of people on the UMass with the point side across the industry. Not a good look for Miami, Ohio, and all the celebrating of the unbeaten season. I'll tell you that.

SPEAKER_01

On my show this morning, I gave out Akron uh to win the the Mac at minus 115. And if UMass wins, that's gonna just look a lot, a lot better. Thorb, real quick, changing gears. You got a Scotty Scheffler song. Is it out? Is that is that released?

SPEAKER_03

No Scotty Scheffler's sort of oh that was just yeah, I sent it to the group chat last night at Adam You Dick.

SPEAKER_04

Buddy, there are so many texts that go through that freaking thing. I think you haven't listened to it. No, I haven't.

SPEAKER_03

It's delightful.

SPEAKER_04

Can we play it here?

SPEAKER_03

Is or uh if Alex can pull it from the chat, I don't mind that. You could use it as like maybe an outro today. Yeah, that'd be cool, right? I mean, maybe at least like 15 minutes 15 seconds, you know.

SPEAKER_01

That there's a part in the middle of that song that I absolutely love, like a 30-second stretch. I can't remember exactly where it is, but it's a great song.

SPEAKER_03

I can't wait to uh you you probably mean the bridge leading up to the hook, maybe where it slows down a little bit. Yeah, musical events.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, my bad.

SPEAKER_04

That's on me. That's on me. I don't know what you're talking about.

SPEAKER_01

We got um, we got stifler in the chat talking, uh Michael Thorpe Youngsen. We got Chris Kish in the chat. Uh, yeah, a lot of people joining us on Twitter, but a lot of people joining us on uh Twitch as well. So shout out to you all for uh being a part of the conversation.

SPEAKER_03

I'm so golf sad right now. Why? Just bad things, man. Calmore withdraw just withdraws, man. It's bad.

SPEAKER_04

It's bad. How are you feeling about the hole in one play on 17 though?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, well, now I need it. Now I absolutely need it to survive. I need Ricky Fowler to hit a hole in one this week, and then I'm back.

SPEAKER_01

So, Adam, I know I I think we have uh do we have a guest coming on?

SPEAKER_04

And we have a guest coming on in the next few minutes that I am excited about, but go ahead.

SPEAKER_01

So I was gonna say, you're talking about feeling sad. I've never been called so many names in my life, like mostly like loser, uh, or any synonym of loser for the bam out of bio take. The the tweet, it's the most viral tweet I've ever had, I assume. Okay, it's got 262 retweets, 5,000 likes. And all I said was that if I was Bam out of bio as embarrassing as the last five minutes of that game were, I would have probably pulled myself at 81 and just stayed tied with Kobe. Then I get to be talked about with Kobe for for the record, but also I don't surpass Kobe doing it in an embarrassing way, which it definitely was embarrassing in the last five minutes. It I understand why people think that's a loser take, but like if you watch the last five minutes of that game, I think you'd understand why I'm saying it.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I mean, can I go ahead, Thor? If you're in that moment, you're not doing that.

SPEAKER_01

No, I hear you. Well, I think I might. When when Miami started to purposely miss free throws up 25, I think I might I'm Eric Sfolster, I think I might pull Bam aside and be like, hey, when you get to 81, I think I'm thinking I'm pulling you. What do you think? And I would it wouldn't shock me if Bam was like, okay, I kind of get it there.

SPEAKER_03

But here's the thing, dude. If if one of if one of my boys on my team, yeah, no matter how it looks, is going for for that for that type of number, I'm doing everything I can to get him that number. I don't care. Like, I don't care how ugly it looks, I'm just doing it for for one of the boys on the team.

SPEAKER_04

So, like, I mean, look, heat heat culture, heat cultures out the window, and and any of the, you know, oh, missing free throws to get more touches, any like all that goes out the window when you're up 25 points or whatever it was, and you start intentionally fouling just to get more possessions. Like, there were so many things that were wrong with the end of this game, but I'll give you a bigger loser take, maybe take some of the pressure off of you. I didn't think that this honestly was all that much worse than when Kobe went for 81. I mean, if you go back and you look at the box and and all the Kobe stands get angry anytime I suggest anything that is anti-Kobe, obviously, much less, heaven forbid, I attack the 81 point game in all of its history. But if you go back and you you look at that game and you look at the box score of that game and you consider the way it played out, similar to how this Heat Wizards game played out. Kobe, the last I want to say 18 points he scored, if if I'm remembering this right from when I looked it up the other day, uh came with like five minutes left in that game. In a game that was already very much in hand and decided, and he could have easily checked out if that's what the coaching staff and the team and everybody involved wanted to do. So he was stat padding much the same as Bam. The only real difference here is that Bam annihilated the record for both made and attempted free throws. That's what everybody loses their shit about. It's the fact that he went to the free throw line literally more than 40 times and hit more than 30, and he was stat padding that way, as opposed to just uh with jumpers and whatnot. So uh Kobe's performance was was look, anytime that you put up 80 plus points in a game, it's impressive, obviously, but it doesn't make it entertaining. It wasn't entertaining when Kobe did it, it wasn't entertaining when Bam did it. It was stupid both times.

SPEAKER_01

You are frozen, it's yeah, you're frozen, which is hilarious. It's so damn it. But also, also, what's worse than you being frozen is how bad that take is.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, it's that which makes it better.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, just okay. So, yeah, it's not it's not looking great. Maybe you want to log back in because I'm about to destroy you here. I'm gonna refresh. Hang on. I don't, I don't think these are comparable. It's one thing to fill up the stat score, the the box score, and hog the ball. Like Kobe does that all the time. That's not unique to like him trying to get a record, but when you're SGAing it up and down the court trying to draw a foul, that's a completely different story. And when your team is supporting the record by try intentionally missing free throws up 25 points, that's different. You cannot compare those two things. Ball hogging it is different than SGAing it down the court and having your team miss free throws. Those are two different hemispheres, and I don't think they're comparable at all. It's a terrible tip.

SPEAKER_04

This this comment from uh Crispy Scott, never watched the show where we focused on any specific sports here. We're not even focused on sports here, let alone specific sports.

SPEAKER_01

So if follow the podcast, Chris is a friend of mine. Go to go to Apple or Spotify and put in no plays off and make sure you follow us, please. And give us a review, Chris.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, you never know what you're gonna get, man. No, it could be all sorry. So here's the thing, right? You're not getting that amount of points in a game without it being somewhat forced. It's quite literally it's basically impossible. But yes, I I'm on the see a side of the Kobe aspect of your argument.

SPEAKER_04

Yes. I thought our guy, uh V, when I was on with him on a show uh last night, I thought he put it well. Bam didn't so much make history as he forced history, sort of to take the words right out of your mouth there, Thorb, with with the way they went after that thing down the stretch.

SPEAKER_03

The end of it was fucking gross. It was really, it was really, really gross. But like, so I give him like what can we give him fairly?

SPEAKER_04

I think he scored 70 70 points that game, but it's yeah, incredibly impressive, especially if you're Bam out of bio, who doesn't reliably get me 15 and parlays most of the time. 100. So yeah, not I mean, I I I saw a number of people send this tweet, so I'm paraphrasing it. But you know, if if if you were to come up with a list of 50 guys who dropped 80 plus points in an NBA game currently, today, how far down the list would Bam be? He wouldn't even be in your top 50. So, yeah, I mean, good good on him. Yeah, stifler. Wilt's 100 points came completely organic, not forced at all. The beauty of that game is that I don't even does a box score from that game even exist? And and even if it does, is it is it legitimate? Is it probably like it's has has anyone validated it?

SPEAKER_01

I well, Wilt was so much more athletic and taller than everybody he was playing. Everybody, I actually think it was organic. Wilt has the ball, he's gonna score every time he has the ball. I I I borderline say it wasn't forced. That's the game plan. Pass it to Wilt, he's gonna score.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, Relat's like a seven-foot kid in playing in like elementary school. It's like it's like that shit, probably.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, look, I just coached my son's, I just coached my son's seventh grade team, and one of the kids, no joke, was probably six two, six three. And so, yeah, like the game plan generally, like get it down low to this kid. Get the freak the ball. Yeah, you're just trying to score. Layups, man. Layups. Oh I see our guests in the way 100 points until I saw Bam score 83. Oh, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Adam can't see that. Adam, you can't. I can see that. Okay, okay.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. All right, fine. Is it time? Right. It's time. Let's we can get back to our our shenanigans and and stupid crap a little bit later on. I want to bring on uh second guest in the history of no plays off and a friend of ours from Pull Wax. That will come as no surprise. The poll wax fandom of ours started uh, you know, really way back at the very, very beginning, knowing our buddy Thorb's connection. But as we go quad box, we bring in Dano, otherwise known as Daniel Claro, the COO over at Pole Wax. How are you, man? Thanks for jumping on.

SPEAKER_00

How we live it, gentlemen. How we live it. It's an honor to be here.

SPEAKER_04

The the pleasure is ours, especially when we tell people what we have in store. So you guys were kind enough to mail me out. Did I lose my camera again? Yeah, you sure did. That's not gonna work with what we're trying to do.

SPEAKER_01

Your mic sounds great, though.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, mic's I don't even care about I the perfect world for you guys is you get to look at me and not hear me, not the other way around. That's true. We got that's a good point. That's really good point.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, you made up for that Kobe thing. That was good.

SPEAKER_04

I'll refresh it one more time.

SPEAKER_01

While we're waiting for that, uh go follow pull wax. Everybody watching, make sure you follow pull wax on Instagram and Twitter and I guess TikTok as well. It's at Pullwax, super easy, right?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, so across all platforms, a little bit about what we do is we do live breaks, meaning we open sports cards for the people, right? So we'll grab a few different boxes, and let's say, for example, Thorbes a Miami Dolphins fan, he's gonna go ahead and purchase that team. So we'll split up the boxes by team, right? Love that.

SPEAKER_01

I love that. We like we we've been Adam, we've been talking about doing that on this show, right?

SPEAKER_04

Well, we've been taught not traditional breaks. I mean, breaks are the best, but obviously you need to have, you know, as Dana was just talking about, you need to have someone rep in every team, or you know, maybe you have someone who is bought in and and owns three or four different teams, and and then it's split amongst the and so everyone sort of has the thing that they are economically invested in and rooting for. What we're gonna do here, this is what I was starting to show you before my camera crapped out, and I can't wait till that happens again.

SPEAKER_05

It'll do it again.

SPEAKER_04

Uh it it will, it absolutely will. Uh, the guys at Pole Wax were kind enough to mail this guy over to me right here. Yeah, this is a uh yeah, Panini. Prism. Yeah, Prism. We got a uh it's a it's a mega box. There are 42 total cards. There are seven cards per pack, uh, six packs. If you don't feel like doing math, like I know Thorb doesn't. Some of the things that we are able to look for in here, and I'm reading right off the box, but I know Daniel can tell us more. Unwrap 10 rookie cards, and I was told from our guy VC that you know, and VC's been in the chat with us before, might even be there now. What we're really after here are rookie cards from the 2025 class. So we're thinking about, you know, obviously Tet, we're thinking about Ward, we're thinking about Genty, my guy Travian.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, you guys, God, this is actually great. So every time he does that, audio listeners, it's because his camera stalled. I'm gonna, you know what?

SPEAKER_03

You guys thought about you sent the wrong guy the box. You said the guy with the busted camera the box.

SPEAKER_04

This is literally never happened, it never actually happens in his defense. It's crazy. All right, I'm gonna try and use a different browser. Could you guys be so kind as to talk about some of the different offerings in this box that we could maybe hopefully see in order to get rich?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, so the really cool thing about these boxes is you don't know what's gonna be inside, right? So it gives you that thrill of the chase of hopefully pulling something big. Um, for this specific box, it's a retail box, right? Meaning, you know, anyone can go ahead and buy it at Walmart, Target, different stores like that. Um, ultimately, what we're chasing is color, right? So Prism Color is king, which is the box that we're gonna rip today. Um, in other products, you chase, you know, autographs or even patches, but Prism being king has really made the value of these boxes go up because of the color, right? So right now we're chasing the black one of one, that would be the ultimate biggest chase. We pull, you know, a Jackson's art of that. We're we're looking at, you know, hundreds of thousands of dollars, but we're also chasing golds to 10, you know, which is gonna be a lot of fun. And exclusives, you know, numbered to 199 to 75 and things like that. There's also case hits, right? So in every 20 boxes, there's gonna be one exclusive card that comes in those 20 boxes that you're chasing, which hopefully we'll see today. Um, but we're looking at snakeskins, we're looking at mangas, we're looking at color blasts, we're looking at, you know, very thought-after cards that this industry really goes after. Is it Dan or Daniel? Forgive me. How do you so my name's Daniel?

SPEAKER_01

But my friends and family call me Dano.

SPEAKER_03

Dano.

SPEAKER_01

Dano, my bad. I should pay attention more. Dano, uh these cards, I know for a fact, are it's not that they're hard to get. Well, I guess they are hard to get. There, there are times where I'll go to like Best Buy or Target, and especially the basketball prisms are gone. Sometimes there's some football ones left. Like this industry right now could not be more booming, correct?

SPEAKER_00

Correct. Yeah. So every single day, new people are coming into the space. Um, for example, like Luke Holmes, shout out Luke Holmes. He just entered the space. So it's it's a large variety of um the distributors doing the marketing, right? So we have Topps, for example, we have Panini, and they're really putting those dollars to good use. And on top of that, you know, I think that the breaking space really empowered a lot of uh movement towards growth because the average person, you know, that doesn't have you know a few thousand dollars to spend on a you know box to hopefully hit something big are able to join these breaks, right? So it's it's growing rapidly, you know. Um back in 2020, because of COVID, yeah, there wasn't, you know, before that, there wasn't much demand. And during COVID, when no one had anything to do, they got into the collectible space. So that's where this really has been picking up. Also the rookie classes, right? Um, back in 2020, we were looking at Jaw, we were looking at Zion Williamson. So after that, it kind of just uh skyrocketed, and there hasn't been, you know, it hasn't slowed down since. Um, for this specific class, you know, we're looking for the Gente's, for the Travis Hunters, for the Darts, the Cam Wards, and so it's really all dependent on those rookie classes, right? Um, and of course, you know, we pull a Patrick Mahomes colored card, it's gonna be worth something, but we're ultimately the the real collectors are looking for those big, big hits, those big rookies.

SPEAKER_01

I love that.

SPEAKER_04

Crazy, uh, crazy pellet. I'm waiting for Adam to y'all. Ma the camera keeps freezing. It's that could happen. Uh, Chris in the chat. I'm trying to teach my son that if you want to get serious about collecting, you buy singles. This is not helping. So just to build on, and I I think knock knock on wood, whatever else. I think I've figured this out. We will see. Uh, waiting for it to drop out of me again instantly. By the way, we got Mike CEO over at uh Pullwax hanging out with us in the chat. What's up, Mike? So this goes back to obviously, and you know, Dana was just saying it, the COVID boom of sort of the collectible space getting crazy again. It wasn't just cards, it was, you know, all sorts of I mean, people even like making money off of old versions of iPhones or uh or iPods, uh, or um, or the what were yeah, the iPods, like the iPod shuffle and stuff like that. People like making a killing off of stuff like that on on eBay, Netflix put out a whole bunch of shows about you know toys we grew up with in the collectibles market, all that. Anyway, going back to the cards, you know, where for me, and I mean, see you, you'd be in the same age range. What I don't know if you were much of a collector growing up, I was a big collector, but the problem was, you know, one thing that we kind of left out of the conversation that you guys just had was the supply and demand of it. Growing up, you know, collecting cards for me in the let's call it mid to late 80s, on through the 90s, very early 2000s. Everything one, there were so many different brands, but everything was so overproduced that you could go to a card show. Like, there was nothing better than going to one of those hotel card shows on a Saturday morning and walking around and seeing all the different tables that people had and walking out of there with like six factory boxes. The thing was, you could get those for anywhere between 20 and 50 bucks a pop, and they'd each have you know 32 packs of cards, and you're just ripping, ripping, ripping. Like, there, there's my favorite pastime in the world, and I'm not just saying that because Pullwax is paying attention, is just ripping packs. It's just the best. Ripping packs is so much freaking fun, but then everything got so diluted, yeah, diluted, unique, you know, not mass produced, obviously, to where, like, you go to a card show now, you want to get a decent box, and you're paying at minimum. I mean, what Dano, you tell me a hundred boxes.

SPEAKER_00

So there's there's varieties, right? You know, anywhere from fifty dollars all the way to twenty, thirty, forty, fifty thousand, right? Um, and during that time, you know, the the late nine, you know, nineties to early two thousands, it was called the junk card era because these people were just overpopulating the cards because there was so much demand for it. Um, and going back to it, it's kind of like there are a bunch of different ways to go into this space, right? So there is a single space where you can buy a specific player that you like. And by a lot of him. And you know, if the player does well, the card goes up. Um, and ultimately you are going to be chasing these rookie cards. But, you know, for the the chase, the gamble, it's it's a lot more fun to go ahead and, like you were mentioning, open up those packs and and pull big cards. There's nothing like it, you know. Um, and and for us, you know, we're we're very we we dive in, we have a retail store, so we dive into the singles market a lot, but but our main focus where we've seen the most fun, the most upside has definitely been um opening these boxes.

SPEAKER_04

Back when when I was growing up, what like collecting was collecting. You could you you did it to to have them for yourself, to trade with friends down the street, that kind of thing. Now I'm guessing it's just much more of a business, right? Like people buy so that ultimately they can sell and profit.

SPEAKER_01

It depends on the age group. Like my kids are trading cards at school every day, literally trading cards at school every every lunch hour. So, yeah, I think people who are spending the big money on the people who are spending the big money on the prisms are definitely doing what you're doing, but there's definitely a still a market for those same types of cards for seven, eight, nine-year-old kids and uh and beyond.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, yeah. When I when I was at the when I was at the artist retreat, there was like there was a random kid who because I mentioned I talk about poll whack pole wax every now and then, you know, those are my boys over there, and I just brought it up and he's like, Oh shit, yeah, I know them. And then he just showed me his eBay, and this guy is just slinging cards on the regular, like so, like just a just a random, like he's he's a music artist, and he's just like really into the hobby. So, and and if you're very unfamiliar with the space, I mean, obviously, we're gonna get into it a lot here and like rip some packs, which is great. Um, just give polax a follow because yeah, not not only are they like just really good at what they do, they're super informative, so that they they can give out a bunch of information, and then them as just human beings, are very good people. They they had me out there, they treated me like family the second I got down there. They're just good dudes. So just give them a follow. They can teach you a lot about the space as well if you're not familiar. And like I said, we're gonna get to rips and packs for you guys.

SPEAKER_04

Dana, what's uh what what's this retail at, roughly, so we know what kind of you're talking about?

SPEAKER_00

It retails for about$60. Um, but the market goes up a bit, you know, because because like we were talking about, there's so much demand that you know these targets, these Walmarts are getting, you know, a bunch of kids looking for these boxes, so it eventually goes up, right? Um, it's probably sitting at about$100 to$120 now. Um, something else that I wanted to kind of talk about was, you know, like I was mentioning, there's so many different avenues to the space. Something where we really, you know, honor ourselves and um talk about a lot is you know, you're doing this on stream, so there has to be some sort of entertainment factor to compete with the rest of the people running the same product, but it's also a lot of knowledge, right? All of our guys are professionals, they study these checklists like the back of their hands, and they know everything that's going on. So if anyone does have any questions, you know, you're you can hit us up on Instagram, you could join any of our streams, and we'll make sure you're taken care of. And to the other point that we were talking about, when it comes to um kids in the space, you know, you would be surprised how many young kids you see wheeling and dealing at these card shows, you know, moving tens of thousands of dollars, right? Um, and it's it's an advantage. Um, I always tell this to parents that their kids are in this space. It's you know, they're learning about business, they're learning about inventory management, they're learning about profits, they're learning about so many different things that they're going to be able to use in the future that this space does make sense to have, you know, a young kid all the way to an older adult in it, you know.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, so Dano just mentioned it there. You think you know sports until you walk into Pole Wax headquarters? It's uh I like just what watch one of the streams. These kids know every single player in every single league. It was one of the more impressive things. I like I I as a guy that just loves sports and watches sports all the time, like I think I know a lot of sports. These these guys know everything.

SPEAKER_01

Hey, hey, it's insane. Real quick though, because I I don't know how these work, these these uh like these shows. I I'm sure you obviously do them online. I want to start watching them, but there's not like a live audience component at your HQ, is there? It's just it's fully online.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, it's fully online. Um, so you're able to do it in the comfort of your home. But we we do a good job of making sure that you feel like you're part, like you're there, you know. Um, and it's it's very interesting, right? This was there was no live streaming space back in the day. So we used to do it on Instagram, and that's kind of where we built our following. And we're just going Instagram live and making people buy on our website and doing it that way. But the most important thing is that we built not only a community, but in-house, we built a family. So everyone here is very close, we're all very tight niche, and like Thorb was saying, you know, we we definitely love sports and anything around it, you know. And um, funny enough, you know, the Pokemon space is growing every single day. You know, I'm sure you guys have seen videos online, but you know, the the Mickeys and the Disney cards and the Star Wars cards and anything you could think of, there's there's a huge market for um in this space.

SPEAKER_04

How do people see nowadays? I mean, I remember back in the day when it was like Beckett, you'd subscribe, you'd get the magazine in the mail, or you'd buy it in a store. How do people see now what their stuff is worth? What's the I'm sure there are a bunch of ways, but what's the most efficient way to do that before grading and all of that? But just hey, I have a card, I got it in a box, I want to know, you know, ballpark, what I could get for it.

SPEAKER_00

So eBay is a is a huge platform for that. Um, but there's there's so many different platforms, right? Like card ladder is a big one where you can get the exact um number that it sold for, for example, on eBay, maybe an offer got accepted and you don't know the exact number, card ladder is going to give that to you. There's other platforms like 130 point and things like that. But at the end of the day, um eBay is is where you you typically will find that number. And there's so many private sales that happen every day, right? So if Thorb has, you know, RIP to my guy, but one of one, and he goes ahead and he wants to sell it to me, and I'm not able to find any sold prices on on all these different platforms, he's ultimately gonna come up with that platform with that um number, and we're gonna make a deal from there.

SPEAKER_04

Even though Thorb does think he's going to die on the field one day, he is still very much alive in the Atlanta Falcon.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I hope he balls, man. I hope he balls over there.

SPEAKER_00

I I don't know how I feel about that just yet, man. I'm I'm I'm missing a mix of emotions here. Um, Thorb, we kind of spoke about two a little while ago, and you know, I I I thought about him as a close friend, you know. I've never met him, but I just really thought I knew the guy, and uh he broke my heart too many times for me to keep talking about him.

SPEAKER_01

I feel like he'd be really cool to hang out with, to your point.

SPEAKER_03

He's such a nice guy, man. That's why I don't like the hate that he gets. He's just a nice guy who broke his brain like seven times, and you know, he's the same dude.

SPEAKER_01

Adam, are we gonna are we gonna open it?

SPEAKER_03

I'm gonna tear the plastic. Can't wait for the camera to go out instantaneously as he opens.

SPEAKER_04

So the camera's not gonna go out, but I'm glad you brought up the camera because what I what I don't have, I know Thorb did this the last time when he opened that that one box that had. I don't have the top cam. Yeah. So how how do we how do we best do this without a top cam, you think?

SPEAKER_00

You just kind of just open the pack and kind of flip it around and go one by one.

SPEAKER_03

Okay. What what is your webcam right now? You can't like tilt it down or no.

SPEAKER_01

Uh I don't want him touching his webcam right now, Thor.

SPEAKER_04

You might see my garage ultimately, but yeah, this might get uh this might get a little spooky. Oh, is it not? You know what? It's not even it's used. I think the way I fixed it is you haven't moved it in. No, I know it's using the laptop cam instead of the instead of the other cam. I don't want to screw up the cam, Thor.

SPEAKER_01

Dana, while Dana, while he's opening that, my terminology might be messed up here, but when is the next time? Go ahead and open a pack, Adam, so we can get it going. Um, when is like do you guys have you rip packs? You do the shows like a couple times a week? Like, when can people look forward to the next one?

SPEAKER_00

So we're live almost 24-7, right? Um, so we're live on eBay Live and we're also live on Whatnot, which is a live streaming platform. Um, whatnot's a lot of fun, you know, big community on there, and I I would recommend checking it out. Um, but we're live almost 24/7. Cool.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, they they have uh just point this at you and uh and and flip through that way. Let me maybe my ring light is interfering with this. Is that helping at all?

SPEAKER_03

Is that uh what's it say?

SPEAKER_04

Aaron's coaching, it's it's not none other than a coaching card, Aaron Glenn. Hell yeah. Oh, Aaron Glenn, amazing.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, they should have got him mid-dance for that one. He did. Yeah, I can't unless you see, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

So let's remember here, guys, we're chasing color, right? So any prism color is gonna be worth something. Um, alongside that, there's gonna be a lot of base cards, which are ultimately have no color and they're just silver in the back. Um, but that's what we're looking for here.

SPEAKER_04

Is a Phil Maffa Dallas Cowboys rookie. Uh the uh Titans, a Yorman, whatever the hell his name is. Iomanor. Uh uh J J O K of the Browns. I'm sure we're all incredibly familiar with this individual. Yep, that looks a silver right there. Ooh, okay.

SPEAKER_01

So we got some color.

SPEAKER_04

Okay, so my lighting sucks. Yes, I see this. All right. Keyshawn Johnson of the Panthers.

SPEAKER_03

Okay, okay. All right. So I think you dude, just cycle through, right? Well, so how often do we get um like any sort of color in each in each pack, Dano?

SPEAKER_00

One, maybe maybe one, maybe one. Maybe one. We're definitely gonna see a few base packs on there. Um but ultimately we're chasing at least one.

SPEAKER_03

So you got how many packs do we got over there, Adam? Seven or ten?

SPEAKER_04

We got uh six packs, six packs at seven cards per.

SPEAKER_03

So you got one one silver, and uh hey, while these open trying to think for a viewing experience, you know, maybe we don't just show every single card, yeah. With all due respect to you, you know what I mean.

SPEAKER_04

If you don't want to see every single card, that's fine. I can flip through and just give you a couple of things.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, flip through it while you're doing that. Uh we got Beast McNeese in the chat. He says, I got an uptown JD5, of course, that's Jane Janiels, out of a pack and it graded a PSA 10. Good luck, fellas. Uh Dano, can you decode that for me?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, so an uptown is I was kind of talking about the short prints and the the case hits, right? Um, so they're not numbered, but they're very thought after and very, very hard to get. Um, a JD5, someone like him, is someone I'm currently buying, right? Since he was injured last year, his market's going down a bit. But um, truth be told, you know, all it takes is one good game next year and his market's gonna explode. Now, when he talks about PSA 10, right? Um, I don't know if all the viewers are familiar with grading, but ultimately you submit these cards to get graded that have a bit more value. And the better the the grade, the more the card will be worth. Um, so being a PSA 10, that's gonna be the best possible grade that a card will get, right? So he's looking at a pretty penny right now, and I'm sure that after JD plays pretty good next year, it's gonna be worth you know, more.

SPEAKER_01

That would be an amazing card to have. I'm I'm a commander's fan. So is that Deontay Thornton Jr. that you're holding up? Yeah, and is that that's a rookie card, obviously. Does that have color to it, Dano? Could like yeah, that's gonna be a silver.

SPEAKER_03

That's a silver, yeah. Okay, that guy's cost me some money in his day.

SPEAKER_01

You know, we would uh he would be my reverse correlation guy where I would take his under receptions over yards and a touchdown, and then he'd get he got completely phased out of the offense, as it turns out.

SPEAKER_03

So, Dano, somebody's asking how to get the cards graded, um, or the best way to go about it. So I know there's the PSA, but there's another way to do it too, right?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, so there's there's a few different grading companies from SGC to Beckett. Um, but PSA is probably the best, in my opinion, but I wouldn't submit just any card over, I would submit anything over about$200, right? Um, so the best way to do it is to go on their website and go that way. You can also um hit us up through any of our socials and we'd we'd be happy to help you out with that. There's you know certain ways to to know whether the card's gonna grade well or not. Um, a lot of times they're off-centered or they might come damage from PSA, uh, from Panini or tops. So it's it's it's very difficult to get a perfect grade, but you know, if you do certain things right and you look for certain things, uh, you know, you can do it.

SPEAKER_04

Got a uh Tootin' rookie.

SPEAKER_03

Okay, silver, right?

SPEAKER_04

It's no, it's basically it's not, it's it's harder, it's harder for you to tell with the camera. Here, this one is silver, and maybe this is decent. You tell me, Nick Bosa.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, yep.

SPEAKER_03

Now are the are the silver ones numbered at all, Dano, or no?

SPEAKER_00

No, so they are more short print, right? So you're obviously gonna get a lot more base, but after base, ultimately it's gonna be silver. Um, and then from there, after silver is where we start getting some numbered cards. So I'm hoping we see one soon.

SPEAKER_04

Is a Nick Bosa silver just because you know we're talking about a a pro bowler, a good player. Like, is that is that worth anything compared to uh, you know, a Dante Thornton Jr. rookie, for instance?

SPEAKER_00

Yes, and no, right? I'd always rather go after those rookies just because I think that there's more upside to them now. A fourth year Nick Bosa might not be, you know, the the best card, you know, the card we're looking for here.

SPEAKER_01

I like that we're talking ceiling floor like we would in DFS or in the goal out, right?

SPEAKER_03

The reason why this works on this show is because this is basically gambling, and like I love I love gambling, so it's uh yeah.

SPEAKER_04

I were we're all looping back, we're halfway, we're through three packs, okay.

SPEAKER_00

Halfway through. So I mean, with the not knowing, right? There's always a possibility that you might hit something big, but you're ultimately never gonna get zero out of a box, right? So it's a bit better than gambling. And if if you're a true collector and you just like having these cards, there's nothing better um with the upside of potentially hitting something big. But you know, breaking is ultimately like hitting a parlay, right? You're first spinning the wheel and hoping you get the right team. From there, you're hoping that you get the right card, and then after that, you're gonna hope that you get a good grade on it. So it's a lot of uh a lot of chances you're taking.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, it really is like a parlay because you're basically say you buy a box for a hundred bucks and you pull something that's worth eight grand. That's like that's exactly what hitting a big parlay is like. So that's it's good stuff.

SPEAKER_04

So this guy's freaking trash. I just want to point that out. JJ McCarthy because he's in there, but but behind him, we have a couple of colour. Oh we got two colors.

SPEAKER_00

Looks like a screen pulsars, so those are gonna be retail exclusive. So let's let's take a look and see who we got. Here's your first. Can't see it.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, I thought it was my guy for a second. Um, it looks like a lot of uh Zaire Franklin.

SPEAKER_04

Okay, okay, and then we don't want defense, Malachi Starks.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, okay double. Could have been not exactly who we're looking for, but you know, we got to see some color, yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, we got some color. Yeah, I thought we had the hot top white on the black, uh, on the block, type white on the black. That's not good. Top white on the on the block, Alec Pierce. We're getting big money. We got two more, yeah. Pierce, Pierce would have been. Remember when I was talking about how much I liked Alec Pierce that one episode? See, it wasn't there.

SPEAKER_04

I wanted him to be a patriot. Oh, we got more. This one's interesting. We got more color. We got a lot more boys. We might be on to something in this one.

SPEAKER_01

Here we go.

SPEAKER_04

All right, we're gonna go. This all right, so I just want to make sure I'm I'm identifying color properly. All right, Dan Fouts is a regular. I'm gonna go one by one in this pack.

SPEAKER_01

All right, old school, yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Uh rookie card, not color, but Cam Scannaboo.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, we like that. Yeah, all right.

SPEAKER_04

Now we got who do we have there?

SPEAKER_00

Okay, so we have our first insert here. That's an emergent insert.

SPEAKER_04

An emergent insert, Dylan Gabriel. Not uh not necessarily the QB on Cleveland you'd want. Oh, anybody else? We've got a rookie, you know.

SPEAKER_03

We're going after these rookies.

SPEAKER_01

That's kind of cool though.

SPEAKER_03

That is cool.

SPEAKER_04

Hang on. Let me I'm trying to tell if this is I don't think this is a silver, you tell me. Khalil Shakir. That's gonna be a base. Yeah, it's a base. Alright. Uh all right, I'm gonna move our emergent. Okay. So here we go. This is a base, but Malik neighbors.

SPEAKER_01

Nice.

SPEAKER_04

And then guys, there's more color. More color. Let's see if we can do better than we did the last time.

SPEAKER_01

Too slow. Who is it?

SPEAKER_00

Did we just get like a lineman again?

SPEAKER_01

Looks like a lineman. I can't see it anymore.

SPEAKER_00

Give me dart. Give me dart one time.

SPEAKER_03

Who's that? I can't see. Oh, there's a glare. Oh, Travis Hunter. Travis Hunter. Travis Hunter, go Travis Hunter.

SPEAKER_04

Come on now. So when we pull a green Travis, what are we talking about here?

SPEAKER_00

I could go ahead and check eBay and see what the last one sold for. Um, did we by any chance send you some sleeves to maybe sleeve that up and protect the card? You need to not you need to put a case, but I can go out and get one.

SPEAKER_04

Put it in one of your DVD things. I can I can I can put it out of reach of the children.

SPEAKER_01

That's a nice one.

SPEAKER_00

So, you know, we we do different types of breaks, right? So we do by team, we want to open up um these boxes. But if you're a Travis Hunter fan, we also sell them by player, right? So if you just want to chase a certain player, we also can do that, right?

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, I'd be curious what uh what old Travis Green goes for.

SPEAKER_03

All right, we're down with two colors in it. That's nice. Keep doing that.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, all right, we're down, we're we're down to our last pack. It's probably gonna be all base cards after that little show that we like.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, hey, at least we hit a Travis. That's that's good.

SPEAKER_04

Patch says listed as 20 on eBay. So we're so we're not as wealthy as we thought maybe we're gonna room to grow though.

SPEAKER_00

Room to grow. We're looking at upside. So with those are retail exclusive, so they're not necessarily numbered.

SPEAKER_04

Um last well we are chasing those numbered cards. Okay.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, okay.

SPEAKER_04

All right, we got one. All right, this one. We got some fun in this one. I don't know who, but I can just tell based on the cards. We got some fun in this one. All right, so Marshall Falk.

SPEAKER_00

There we go. Jack's little dart action.

SPEAKER_04

Little dart? Oh it looks like a base, right? It's a base.

SPEAKER_00

It's not a bad card to have.

SPEAKER_04

I can't see. All right, Jordan Watkins. Whatever.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Oh Jeff Garcia. Old school.

SPEAKER_03

All right, proceed, proceed. Oh, more color, more color, more color, more color, more color. Somebody's catching the ball.

SPEAKER_00

Nice little patch. It's a patch, Marvin Harrison Jr. patch.

SPEAKER_04

Take that all day. All right.

SPEAKER_01

All right, Mark. So Dano, are the patch cards worth like more than some of the numbered ones? Kind of the same deal. It depends on the product, right?

SPEAKER_00

With with Prism, it's ultimately color that you're chasing. Um, but a product like Flawless or with National Treasures, for example, that's that's where the patches have have a lot of value.

SPEAKER_04

Nice. I'm with you, Patch. I could do this all day too, with a better setup than what I'm working with.

SPEAKER_03

Now, some of the patches, Dano, are game worn or not, right? So always let you know on the card whether you have a game worn patch.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, so in the back of the card, it'll actually tell you whether you know you ward an actual game. Sometimes they'll even say when they ward or what specific game, which is really cool. Um, other times they'll just say issued or you know, worn. It could be for a photo shoot, it could be for anything.

SPEAKER_04

So this one says the enclosed authentic memorabilia is not from any specific game or event. Okay.

SPEAKER_03

I think because in in this pack, that's probably the case, right, Dano? For yeah, most yeah, okay.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Um, a lot of those cards, a lot of those patches that are valued high. Um, it's ultimately going to be multiple different color patches, for example. You know, we call it like dual color, triple color um patches, but also when it shows you or tells you what you know that player did that game.

SPEAKER_04

How do you uh is this is a real novice question? How do you sleeve up a patch card? Since obviously they're thicker, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

So there's regular penny sleeves, and then there's uh thick penny sleeves, so we would go after the the thicker ones. There's also different size cards, obviously. So you know, we have top loaders like this, so this will be a regular one, right? So it just looks small, and then we have bigger ones that are a bit thicker, yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, because I've come I've come across some patch cards in my day that my that my kids will then just go and try and shove into a thin sleeve, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Funny enough, um, back then when I was collecting as a kid, you were going after these patches, right? Um, and it's it's what everyone wanted. You know, I remember being a kid and being at like a Walmart or Toys Ross and like grabbing pack by pack and seeing which one's thicker so we can grab those. Um, but you know, later back you know in 2019, 2020, when I got back back into the space, I realized you know that the patches weren't The people were chasing anymore. It was really those autographs and and those numbered cards.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, the the box had said, I think it it guaranteed, yeah, it said find one memorabilia card per box on average. So I guess it didn't guarantee it. So we we got that. I wondered though, if we are are there, you know, luck of the draw of the boxes, obviously, but are there autographed cards in uh in this set too?

SPEAKER_00

Yes, yes. And the reason why I always say Prism is king because of the color is because they're typically sticker autographs, right? Or they're always going to be sticker autographs when it comes to Prism. Um, but other products are gonna be on card, and that ultimately makes the card go go up in value.

SPEAKER_01

Is there a science to when to sell these cards? Because I mean, we we've we see people in the chat talking about like bam, out of bio, certain cards from him are really hot right now. Maybe that's a bad example, but like for like a rookie card where the rookie has a great season, I would imagine most people would hold on to that card because they're like it's just gonna continue to get value. But you bring up the Jaden Daniels example, I can think of another commander's quarterback. Maybe cards weren't big back when RG3 was around, but he had that great season and then you know it fell off like it does for some quarterbacks. So is there do some people gamble and just get rid of a great card because they know they're gonna get the return? Like how do people treat that?

SPEAKER_00

Yes, so it it all depends on the collector, right? If if I was holding Jaden Daniels, for example, a Jaden Daniels card just sold for$500,000, right? And that was right before he got injured. So that the seller that made a good move there. Um, but now it it truly depends. If you're selling to get into another card that you see more upside in in the future, then it makes sense to sell. Um, but if it's a player that, you know, for example, I was buying a lot of Tua, right? I'm holding those cards forever now. Wouldn't you hopefully, hopefully, and he performs next year. But if not, I'm holding them forever. Um, now when if when 20 the 2020 class came out, everyone was so all over, you know, Joe Burrow, Justin Herbert, that they weren't focused on Tua. So I took it as an opportunity to start buying. Um, but now as a Dolphins fan, I was like, we're going to the Super Bowl every single year. So I was holding on to those cards with Dear Life, and unfortunately, it wasn't the right investment. Um, now, if you have someone like Dan Marino that I also collect, um his cards might go up five percent, might go down five percent, but they're gonna stay roughly the same unless some news comes out about him. You know, he drops a Netflix show or he buys the the Miami Dolphins, that it's gonna be up five, down five. But now, if that does happen, where some news comes out, and it could be absolutely anything, good or or bad, that card will pick up in price, and that it'll be a good move to sell then. Um, but to ultimately answer your question, you're buying into these guys hoping that they're gonna have a breakout game or have a breakout, you know, season, and then that's when it's a good time to trade it.

SPEAKER_04

Is there a well, like the guys have established, I'm uh you know, kind of a uh maybe not diagnosed hoarder, but I'm but I'm I'm on the I'm on the hoarder spectrum, if you will. So all of the so all of the like all the cards that I collected, they're in a closet. There are literally no exaggeration, tens of thousands of them in I don't know how many boxes that are just in this closet. Because I wasn't, you know, I didn't want to like even the commons that are worth nothing. I didn't want to chuck them, I just wanted to have the cards, right? At what point though, and I know I'm long past this with cards that are 30 years old or whatever, but you know, if people are currently collecting, at what point do you does the ship kind of sail on you know common guys that aren't anything special? You can kind of pare down your collection and just keep good cards and decide whatever you're gonna do with them.

SPEAKER_00

So, funny enough, with your collection, I would actually love to go through it, right? Because you're picking at you know it's like looking for a needle in a haystack. It really is, though, because a lot of these cards being 20, 30 years old, if they were to grade well, they're gonna be valuable, right? So it could be a two-dollar card, but then if it gets a PSA 10, it could be a$3,000 card. And we've seen this happen before, right? So it's if I were you, I would kind of pick through and see, you know, rookies and also um thought after names. And you know, if they look good, I would ultimately get them graded, or I would at least check the market on them. Um, but you know, because it was overpopulated back then, there's not going to be so much um value there unless you find that one, two, three big card, right? You could be sitting on gold over there, Adam.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, like Hadge says, I bet he's got a star or flare Jordan. I've got hundreds of Jordan cards, like truly, but but on but again, this is an era of of cards being so mass-produced that I I don't I wouldn't even know like if anything is actually worth something versus just uh this is five bucks, this is 10, 15 bucks.

SPEAKER_00

It definitely takes time to look through, but a lot of times I've seen that it's worth it. Um, I've had a lot of kids come to you know, or um to our retail store and say, Hey, my grandfather gave me this box, is it worth anything? And you know, we have seen some pretty big cards come out of there, you know, Tom Brady rookies and things like that. So it is a possibility. Um, but it's again looking through and kind of um searching up one by one and spending time with this. Um, but there has been some success that we've seen from it.

SPEAKER_04

I've never felt I've never felt older than you just saying grandpa might have a Tom Brady card. I knew you were gonna say that like grandpa might have like a Ted Williams card, a Mickey Michael card.

SPEAKER_00

Funny enough, my grandfather had a bunch of babe root cards, so you know he kept talking about them and talking about them as I got into the space. So one day we find these cards, and I'm I'm thrilled, right? I'm super excited. I'm like, this is my space. We're about to we're I know we're gonna pull something huge, we're gonna find something huge. Turns out that the most expensive card I found for uh Babe Ruth was about three dollars, right? So it's it could go either way, is my point.

SPEAKER_04

That's crazy. This, I mean, we have taught. I mean, we're not putting you on the spot here, but we have talked about wanting to do more in the card space on this show. So just know that you pull wax, rip and packs, like as often as you want to be part of it, we would love for you to be a part of it because this is too much fun, these conversations and just going through this stuff, like it. The joy, honestly, not to it. This is it sounds backwards, but I think people get what I'm saying. Like, there's so much joy, so much more joy in in the anticipation and just the process of ripping packs than there even is of like keeping the cards after, you know what I mean?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, it's like it's the lot of times that I've opened something and given it to a younger kid or whatever it may be, is it's crazy. And the the the thing that I like most about the hobby and what really got me hooked to it was you know, it brought me back in time. Um, it it took me back to being a young kid, going to the card store with my parents, and and the chase of looking for a specific product and finding it and finally having it in my hands and ripping it. So it's it's one of those things that, yeah, you know, everyone gets caught up with a dollar amount and all these things, but ultimately it's it's not only a community, but it's it's something that's gonna take you back in time to a time where you had no worries except who am I gonna pull? What card am I gonna get out of this?

SPEAKER_04

You know, do you have a prize possession?

SPEAKER_00

I so I have a Dan Marino downtown, which is a super short print, like I was talking about, but this one's a printing plate, so it's ultimately the card that made the rest of the cards for that. Um for that specific card, and it's a one of one, right? So there's only one in the world, and I would say that's my prize possession. Just I I have a lot of fun looking at it. I show all my friends and how much, how much you know it could be worth a thousand, it could be worth two thousand. Since it's a one of one, I kind of set the market on it now. Yeah, right. That's cool.

SPEAKER_04

8,000 of you, baby. Come on, that's awesome. Yeah, I love uh Gerald in the chat. I've never personally ripped a pack or watched someone do it, but that was exhilarating.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, dude, it's great, man.

SPEAKER_04

There's something about it, yeah. There's something about it, it's so great.

SPEAKER_03

And like and like, guys, if you want to get into it, the polax is doing this 24-7. They have different rooms doing different sports, like they got they got everything you need if you're ever like looking to get into it.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I wish I could show you guys around. Um, but what I'm gonna finish off with is when Thor was here, he was kind of like he didn't really understand it at first. Sure, so he was kind of like asking a bunch of questions and off rip, we were just having a great time with them. But towards the end, he's like, So we're gonna rip something? What are we doing here?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, dude, it's like such a tease being in there, like headquarters, and all you see is packs, and you just want to just fucking you just want to rip them all. It's it's it's awesome.

SPEAKER_01

Where about in South Florida are you, Dano?

SPEAKER_00

We're in Hollywood, so okay. We have a retail store over in North Miami, but our office, our HQ, is in Hollywood.

SPEAKER_04

Cool, beautiful. Dano, thank you so much for hopping on and obviously for sending the the box for us to rip and and enjoy here. And uh, yeah, we'll we'll talk more behind the scenes, obviously, but uh be great to have you guys, you know, be a bigger part of the show for sure.

SPEAKER_00

Absolutely. All right, guys, buddy.

SPEAKER_04

We'll see you soon. Likewise, good stuff again. Uh Dano over at Pull Wax, check out pull waxes. You know, we always tell you, check out the socials as well. But boys, that was fun. We got some cards in there.

SPEAKER_01

I thought we did good. I mean, we didn't get like the huge ticket one, but that was good.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I mean, we we got we got we got a Travis color, a little little Marvin with a patch color. I mean, shit ain't bad. Jackson Dart rookie, Jackson Dart, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. That's awesome.

SPEAKER_03

That was fun. I just want to see now, now, like as just the degenerate in me, man. I just want to just I want to get the ripping.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, right.

SPEAKER_03

Oh my gosh.

SPEAKER_04

I could I could just I I get the people that that get to do these, you know, just just host these card breaks, you know, this was more of an unboxing than it was a card break, but people that get to preside over these breaks, even though you don't keep any of the cards at the end, they go to the people that are invested that have bought in on particular teams or that sort of thing, like we talked about. But just just getting to rip the packs is so much fun.

SPEAKER_01

I don't think I don't think people realize how much these packs are sought after, like in a retail store, like at Target, for example, there will literally be a sign that says you can only take two at a time, you can only purchase two at a time because they know people are going to come in and just basically take every pack and buy it. I've been to a Best Buy that it's sort of walking distance from me. I say sort of because it's a long walk, it's sort of on my way to the gym. And if that's a flex. And every single time they're out of the the bat the panini prisms, every single time. And Target, it's it's the same thing. Walmart, it's the same thing. They'll have some other cards, but they're they're not gonna have the the specifically the basketball panini prisms.

SPEAKER_04

Are your kids actively collecting?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, our whole living room and upstairs is just strewn with cards, in case a lot in cases, and a lot not in cases.

SPEAKER_04

Well, I was gonna say, are you anal about them? Like, you know, the cards that may or may not be good, at least they're name recognition players that like make sure you put those aside, don't trample over them on the floor.

SPEAKER_01

They go in case cards, they go in cases right away. In fact, two cases one one uh sleeve that's like really like bendable or whatever, like a like a little plasticky thing, and then one hard plastic that goes inside of that.

SPEAKER_04

That's awesome. Yeah, so they're gonna get to do how how old are your kids?

SPEAKER_01

Discipline nine and seven.

SPEAKER_03

Nine and seven. Oh, that's that's that's real house. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, I feel like there's like this weird, like when you're a kid, you're super into cards, right? And then you have this gap where you're and like now we've hit the the second set of like now I'm I'm back into it again. Yeah, it's uh I don't I mean, I'm sure there's like 25-year-olds that are really into cards, but um yeah, I feel like we've hit that second that we got the second wind of cards, and like now I'm so into it again.

SPEAKER_04

Well, to your point, when it comes to adults, I feel like in in everyday life I'm just running into it more. Like I yeah, my barber is a huge card guy and buys and sells constantly, like it's a little side hustle for him. Or I went to the dry cleaner the other day and I noticed I sort of like he just had random collectibles kind of around the space, like whether it was old cereal boxes or or cars or whatever. And I look behind the counter and he's got a whole bunch of cards set up. And I was like, What's what's the deal with all those? And he's like, Ah, I just you know, I don't have a wife, I don't have a girlfriend, I don't have kids. I just I love to buy cards. I'm like, why don't you display them more? And uh instead of like keeping them behind the counter over there. It's like you kidding, people are gonna break in and steal. It's like that's fair, yeah.

SPEAKER_03

I guess like you don't notice how big it is, and so like once I started like rocking with polax, I just and obviously followed them and then started following like other people in the space. It is enormous, man. Like, however big you think it is, it's bigger, yeah. It's it's a crazy space, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And I I think there's some legitimacy behind it too, because it the market is not as diluted as it was back in the day, where just like every company is producing cards, and to the extent it's diluted, people know like where the the good cards are, what companies are producing the good cards. So it's not like it's not like this NFT situation where it's like, oh, like, yes, of course, some of these aren't gonna be worth much someday, but some really are. And and I think there's something to be said for that. I don't think it's like uh it's not art, it's not like digital art, like this is something that's very easy and yeah, like the values known and all that crap.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, I guess this was one of those situations where hopefully people were watching along with us versus you're not gonna get the same thrill listening back to the audio version of this particular show.

SPEAKER_01

Uh speaking of art changing gears a little bit, I I always say you know, dry cleaners are for suckers for the most part. Can we all agree that most art, like 90% of art, is just suckerville?

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, yeah. I mean, but but isn't that it goes back to the whole like beauties in the eye of the beholder, like that thing, and whether it's cards, whether it's art, whether it's whatever, like this speaks to what Dana was saying about card value on eBay and how the eBay market is so huge and selling cards, like ultimately something is only worth what someone else is willing to pay for it.

SPEAKER_01

And that those those someone else's are suckers, is what I'm saying. Like, I feel like there is like there is some beauty in art, like there's like some incredible artists out there, but then there's the art pieces that like are like super abstract, and it's very clear that like somebody was just splashing paint around, you don't're like, Hey, there's$300,000 at the Miami, like the Miami art show, and some sucker is gonna come down ahead, it reminds them of their grandma, and then they pay like$1.4 million dollars for it.

SPEAKER_04

So, what are we doing? Maybe it our kids should be taking up, you know, crappy abstract art.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, and then just change their name to something weird like Wolfgang.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, you have to have a weird name or a catchy name.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_04

I like that. We can get into that, yeah. I mean, that we're we're sitting here doing this show trying to figure out how we make some money. Maybe it's in the art game.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, we're we're gonna be ripping packs and selling paint shit.

SPEAKER_04

I did what I I wanted to ask you guys. I I had made a a note of this the other day so that I wouldn't forget. Uh, so we have, as I don't need to tell you, but for any listeners who maybe have not been with us on recent shows and haven't checked out our our fun uh clips that I wouldn't say have gone viral necessarily, but are getting some decent engagement on social media. So we have asked several questions of late, uh kind of regarding money, right? Like, you know, how much would it take for you to quit your favorite sports book, or how much would it take for you to you know stop watching sports for a full calendar year? What would somebody have to pay you? Here's another one that I thought of uh it inspired by something that I saw on on Twitter during the week. You guys saw that photo, I assume, of Joe Burrow sitting with Jessica Alba at the Las Vegas casino recently. Yeah, now the reports they start to swirl, right? That these two are are dating when in reality it's possible one of them was sitting at the table and the other one just came and sat down and and social media then does what it does. But that got me wondering. I don't know what the limits were of this particular table. Why wasn't it in a high stakes room, whatever? Like, so that's left to our imagination a little bit here. The question is this what would you be willing to wager playing cards if it meant that you could go and sit next to and shoot your shot with a recently divorced, newly single Jessica Alba?

SPEAKER_01

That's a great question. So, how much would the buy-in have to be? Is that what you're saying?

SPEAKER_04

Like, would you be willing to look at table and a seat next to her?

SPEAKER_01

Well, I love see you. Uh Thorb, you want to go for I always go first, and it's always a number that people think are is ridiculous. I do have a number in my head already, though.

SPEAKER_03

Means nothing to me. Yeah, women don't move women don't move the needle for me, man.

SPEAKER_01

You know what I mean? That's why you say it doesn't have to be Jessica Alba. Think of somebody that like would be like the Jessica Alba to somebody else.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, I mean how you're gonna aim much higher, but go ahead.

SPEAKER_01

Try she's I mean, Alba's not like she's not somebody that I I would be like super you know interested in necessarily. But if we're talking about like somebody like that, sure, whoever your celebrity crush is, yeah, yeah. So we're just talking about like going up to the table and taking your shots. So there's no guarantees here, which is why my number is going to be a little bit lower.

SPEAKER_04

But you are the one guarantee that I will give you off of tabloid reports is at least you know that person is single, a la Jessica Alba.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, and you might get your picture taken with that person.

SPEAKER_04

Well, you but I'm not Joe Burrow, so you might do better than that. Yeah, you might have sex with her.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, yes. I feel like that was the the logical conclusion that everybody but everybody wants there. But thank you for bringing that out. I'm gonna go with uh I actually I don't want to use a weird number, I have to use a whole number because I don't want to buy in for a weird number because then already she's gonna think I'm weird.

SPEAKER_04

So well, no, because she she doesn't know what your objectives are, she may just think you're a high roller, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

But she no, but I'm saying it can't be like I always give weird numbers like 7250. That's weird. Uh it has to be a clean number. Rich guy's not gonna come in with like a random eight thousand dollars.

SPEAKER_03

Okay, or yeah, just one thousand flat, you know what I mean? Because like she's not here's what's gonna happen. We're gonna talk for a little bit, we're gonna fall in love naturally, right? And then I gotta start hanging out with her, I gotta spend time with her. I did that's not worth it for me, you know what I mean. I got to do, so I think a thousand's fair, you know. We'll have that time, we'll spend a few weeks together, and then that's kind of it.

SPEAKER_04

Thor Thorb's turnoff in this situation is the actual relationship with this person.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, I didn't see that coming.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, no, it's yeah, but for most people, like that's what they're striving for. That's the goal here. Thorb's like, I don't need to be bogged down in whatever shit she's got going on in her life.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I'm just gonna play cards and maybe hang out for a couple weeks, and a thousand is low enough not to set high expectations, thereby sort of solidifying the fling rather than the actual relationship. It's well thought out.

SPEAKER_04

Thank you. Yeah, I was gonna say maybe like two grand 2500. I wasn't a lot higher than Thorb. Uh, but eight AK, I mean, you're you you're pretty much chasing love at that point.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, and she would hate you, Adam.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, obviously. Yeah, I mean, it's it's it's it's amazing I've I've tricked my wife this far.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Just kidding, your wife is a lucky woman.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, she's she's a very generous woman. Lost a bet. I don't know why Patch is just throwing out names. Same thing. These are these are names I'm also not interested in.

SPEAKER_03

I mean prime Angelina Jolie was a was a was a force to be reckoned with. That's true. Jennifer. Talking like wanted, uh, Angelina Jolie and Wanted. That was uh that was special, special work from her. Yeah. Ooh, I I want like um we should make a top five like hottest movie characters or show characters, like of of just it prime, prime. You know what I mean? I'd like to cook up that list. I got some ideas.

SPEAKER_01

Any names come to mind? He just said he's got some ideas.

SPEAKER_03

I well, uh no. I can think of a Angelina Jolie and wanted made me made me think of that. She she'd be probably on there. I'd have to really dive made transformers megan fox.

SPEAKER_04

That was a huge, yeah.

SPEAKER_03

That was a quick one from intern Alex. That might have been one of like the biggest ones of all time, to be honest. Didn't even hesitate on that. That was the talk of the high school, man. That was that was big. That was big. She came back with some spicy photos the other day. Saw that I didn't really look at them, I'm not into that sort of thing, you know what I mean? But I just know about yeah, yeah, it's not going on. What if we would have fallen love?

SPEAKER_04

Is it you know must must be in that TMZ targeted algo? Yeah, yeah, it wasn't me, it wasn't me looking. That's uh-uh. So when you're at it'd be hard to pare down that list, let's be honest with ourselves.

SPEAKER_01

No, when you when you're at the blackjack table with your Jessica Alba equivalent, sure, you you have to like if you're losing, you have to pretend like you don't care at all.

SPEAKER_04

It means nothing. Oh, yeah, the money is is meaningless. Couch cushion.

SPEAKER_01

And then if you if you tap out because you just got totally run, do you like do you do you rebuy because you've only been there for like 15 minutes? Like, do you like your legs and water?

SPEAKER_03

If it's going well, you're gonna have to you're gonna have to get the ATM. You can have to that.

SPEAKER_01

But if you rebuy, you have to rebuy for at least the amount you. Bought in for otherwise it's gonna it's gonna look like you're kind of out of money. You know what I mean?

SPEAKER_03

You could you could treat it as the responsible guy, like hey, I just lost eight grand in 24 minutes. Um, let me just I'm gonna go get six if you don't mind. You know what I mean?

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, I was gonna go take a walk to the ATM.

SPEAKER_01

I don't want to lose more than 14 today.

SPEAKER_03

You just walk around, you're just like beating yourself up. Come on, just 20 minutes. That's it. 20 minutes. This is actually a decent skit. This is a decent skit. I think I like thinking of my life in skits, you know what I mean?

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, prime snl could do well with this material.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, just just walks out the table, act like nothing mattered. She just turns around, you're at the ATM like fuck. I lost everything.

SPEAKER_04

Like it feels like it'd be a good like Sadeca sketch. That's a good Jason Sudeikis sketch, right? Of course, of course. Yeah, sure.

SPEAKER_03

Jason Bateman do whatever you want.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, well, I was thinking SNL terms, but yeah, I'm big Bateman guy for sure.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Haven't watched that new Bateman DTF show though. DTF? Yeah, DTF St. Louis, his new show on Max. It's about uh I get I saw a trailer, I saw him doing an interview about it. It's a it's about couples that that are are looking for a little side business in uh in in their neighborhoods, but it's but it's but it's okay, I guess. Okay that's that's hence the app solid reviews, solid reviews.

SPEAKER_03

Is it I haven't seen it? I could dive into it. You guys watch Paradise, or are you just never gonna listen to anything I say? I don't see it happening. I keep hearing it's good, but yeah, I don't see it happening. Yeah, Alex in the background, like yeah, because it's that good, it's that good. Well, he's 14, so well, he is 14, he is a child. Yeah, that's true.

SPEAKER_04

Have you guys watched the uh the Ted TV show on on Peacock? I never will, but I heard it's pretty good.

SPEAKER_03

It's I'm not an animated guy, you know.

SPEAKER_01

I I love the movies, I just never watched the show.

SPEAKER_03

He's not animated. You know, he's not real.

SPEAKER_04

The yes, thank you. Tell thank you for telling me the teddy bear is not real, but it's not animated, it's not a cartoon.

SPEAKER_01

All right, semantics, but fair enough. Is it good?

SPEAKER_04

It's better than the movies. So if you do enjoy it's if you enjoy the movies, it is better than the movies.

SPEAKER_01

I'm stunned by that. Yeah, me too, honestly.

SPEAKER_04

Really, really good. I feel like you're wrong, but yeah, I feel I feel like you need to watch it and then tell me I'm right or wrong.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, but I bet you watch shit until you watch paradise. I'm not gonna watch paradise. You better. I'm not, I'm not watching Ted then. Good, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, yeah. Take that, yeah. But you didn't see that coming. You jerk. Uh, I I think I knew who our next guest is gonna be. That that uh guns show guy.

SPEAKER_04

I don't have one lined up, so it's up to you guys next.

SPEAKER_01

No, I'm gonna I'm gonna ask him to come on. He he this guy does so many cool things that I think he's gonna be super interesting. I don't know who are you talking about? Uh one of our one of our clips, he said he wanted to come on to the show. Uh it's at Guns Show, is his Twitter handle, I think. And he like he does some like crazy stuff with like um musical bands and all kinds of different uh things. It's he he's like a host, uh he does a lot of cool stuff.

SPEAKER_03

Okay, I dude. I I fucking I love cool stuff, man.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, cool stuff is the best.

SPEAKER_03

Who doesn't love cool stuff? Oh dude, we're we're up there in time, huh?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, we should probably go.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, we've we didn't talk about really anything that happened. Oh, so many stuff happened.

SPEAKER_04

There's uh we've got 1500 people watching just on Twitter, by the way, though. I just want to shout that out. We're not even maybe maybe Twitch. We on Twitch, we're not on YouTube yet, but that's coming, we're told. But a lot of a lot of a lot of the people hanging out with us live stream, we appreciate that. Rate review, download the podcast, all that good stuff. You're right. Lot in sports. Can we can we do the max crosby thing before we go?

SPEAKER_01

Oh, yeah, sure. Yeah, let's do that.

SPEAKER_04

Uh who who apparently is now committed to the Raiders again. If if you go off of his social media feed anyway, meanwhile, this is gonna shock you guys, but Trey Hendrickson passed his physical with the Ravens. Uh, what'd you what'd you guys make of all that? See was it as shady as it looked?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I think so. I mean, I'm not like a conspiracy theorist guy, but I don't think you have to be a conspiracy theorist to you know, listen, I don't know exactly what medical information they had before the trade, but they I understand you have to pass it physical, but like they had to have had the requisite medical information and MRIs and scans to make the call before the trade. And again, I don't exactly know how that works, but I mean it does feel like a little bit of buyer's remorse, and especially when you go get Trey Hendrickson the next day, which I understand they would have had to have done because another team could have signed him, but like that's a pretty bad look, in my opinion.

SPEAKER_03

So, what's the what was the like latest rumor I saw that they planned on getting both of them?

SPEAKER_04

That that was what the GM spin was when he met with the media yesterday was that they wanted to actually sign both to pair together, so they always planned on getting Hendrickson independent of the Crosby situation. That is what the cost of the general manager said. I don't buy that for one second.

SPEAKER_03

I don't buy that's that's mucho money, mucho money.

SPEAKER_04

You can't be doing that. I'm really curious if the Raiders are like Crosby can post whatever he wants to post. I'm curious if the Raiders actually do keep him because remember, during that moratorium period, when they get out went out and had a good free agency and signed all these guys, or at least committed to signing all of these guys, that was when they believed they had an extra 30 million dollars in salary cap space available that instantly went the other way as soon as Crosby came back. So, have all of the I haven't paid attention. Have all of these deals gone official? Are they trying to figure out the money still? Is Crosby, you know, they're gonna have to eat the the Crosby situation, meaning trade him away, but maybe you get one first round pick as opposed to two first round picks, you get a lesser return because he's you know damaged goods or or what have you. I'm I'm I just I I will be very surprised if he winds up staying with the Raiders.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, it's gonna be. I mean, the problem is the Ravens just killed Max Crosby's trade market, so it's like it's a it's actually like you know, kicking a team while they're down because you you're not only sending him back and creating the the money issue, but you're also telling the entire league we the Baltimore Ravens don't think he's fit to be on our team physically. I mean, that's that's tough if you're the Raiders.

SPEAKER_03

That's just a classic bad things happening to bad teams, you know what I mean? Why can't you know the the Ravens got enough and now they're just gonna shit it like just fuck up the Raiders plans? The Raiders, yeah, right.

SPEAKER_01

That's not cool. And then there's the Jets who actively just do moves that that they're actually doing on purpose, which is I mean, the Geno Smith thing I thought was super awkward.

SPEAKER_04

Although I did see a tweet last night, I wish I could remember who it was so I could give the credit, but it said something like there's a case to be made that Geno Smith is the best Jets quarterback since Geno Smith, which I thought was pretty good, considering all the QBs in between. That's probably true.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, now that I think about it, yeah. That's funny and sad, it's extremely sad.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, all of the above. All right, dolphins have Malik Willis, so now you guys are laughing about my I like Malik Willis, you know what I mean. Look at me now. I should have really liked Willis.

SPEAKER_01

We should have played your video that you did on Instagram after the two-o trade. That was pretty good.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I thought that was really good. Maybe next time.

SPEAKER_03

Next time, yeah. We didn't really get into anything, but we can though, you know, we'll be back again next week. Cards, cards. That that's pretty cool. It is cool, yeah. Yeah, how cool the cards have like look nowadays because where we are at in time, like the cards look phenomenal now, like especially when you get a big one.

SPEAKER_01

I I will remind everybody that's watching on Twitter and Twitch. Um no plays off the podcast. Please go ahead and follow it on Apple and Spotify or one of the two and uh review the podcast too. That'd be cool, but definitely follow it, that's important, uh, for sure.

SPEAKER_04

Also, there's no plays off merchandise in the BNN store. Uh, I I I got a hat coming my way. Thorb got a quarter zip, Sia, a polo. Alex, I I think got everything. I I'm not sure, but it's it's all it's all there for you, baby. And we're gonna display that soon. As soon as it's in our possession, we'll be wearing it.

SPEAKER_03

I'll tell you what, I might even wear it while doing the show. Do you guys like that?

SPEAKER_04

Do we think Sia will? No, see you still hasn't announced he's part of BNN on his you know Twitter bio. That's true, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I'm I'm part of BNN.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, he has just announced it.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, I mean, in fairness, he tweets about it as much as anybody, so he's better than both of us out here.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, more than both of you, actually.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, combined.

SPEAKER_01

Tagging your betting news, go follow them. See how get it again.

SPEAKER_04

Perfect.

SPEAKER_01

Uh, next Thursday at one o'clock, right?

SPEAKER_04

Next Thursday at one o'clock. Uh, no guess for now. Could change, but it will be the three of us and uh and intern Alex. If you missed any of the show, go back, subscribe, rate, review, comments, all of that good stuff on the pod. Again, no plays off. Wherever you get your podcast, we are told, assuming the powers that be are not lying to us, that the listenership is climbing with each and every show, and we love to see it. We're grateful for you guys. So thank you for that. More of that, and uh, all of you in the comments are riot as you always are. Thanks to Dano from Pullwax for hopping on. Yeah, that was cool. That was uh that was a lot of fun. Hopefully, we'll have him, Mike, and and the whole crew back with us again sometime. But yeah, for uh for Sia, for Thor, Thjorb, uh, I am Adam, and coming up next, but not really, pocket.

SPEAKER_02

Pocket, see you guys later.

SPEAKER_04

Thank you.
