Something new is coming to Work Life Stories from School of Work Life. The road goes ever on and on down from the door where it began. Now far ahead the road has gone, and I must follow if I can. J. O. Tolkien. Hello, it's Carmel from School of Work Life. Today I'm here to tell you about something new that's coming to Work Life Stories from School of Work Life, and I want to tell you what it is and why it exists. The regular episodes release every Tuesday. They follow the same shape, a character, a work-life challenge, a moment where something shifts, and learning that travels beyond the story itself. These are free and always will be. What's new is the stories behind the stories, a weekly bonus episode with exclusive content every Thursday. These are for subscribers only. These episodes are where I go deeper into the stories behind the stories, the thinking behind the ideas, the work behind the work, why this work exists, where the methodology came from, what's real inside, what's crafted. Each story is reflective, personal. It follows my belief that stories are our most powerful mechanism for teaching, learning, and communicating authentic identity. It will always have learning for you to take away, to apply to your work life, because the value is always in what other stories illuminate about your own story. To understand what a story is behind the stories is and why it exists, you need to understand where School of Work Life came from. The journey began in the early 2000s. During an economic downturn, my contract in investment banking had come to an abrupt end. I was out of work, and I found myself at a crossroads. That crossroads led me to Ireland, to a room full of people who'd also lost their jobs in the same downturn. And to the moment I discovered that stories, not techniques, not frameworks, not CB advice, were what people needed most. That discovery shaped everything that followed. Over 20 years of working with people navigating their work lives, through stable times and times of uncertainty, through career transitions and economic downturns, and a global pandemic, and through all of it, learning. Learning by doing, learning through people's stories, learning through literature, learning through everything, the challenges, the obstacles, the failures, the successes, and a passion for learning that never left. That learning became school of work life, not planned, not designed in advance, built from experience, one discovery at a time. School of work life is built around five collections. Self-discovery, where it all began, knowing who you are, your values, your purpose, your motivated abilities, the foundation everything else is built on. The art of work-life storytelling, the mechanism for expressing who you are, not technique, not performance, truth. The right story at the right time in every professional situation that matters. Book club books, learning through fiction and non-fiction, because the books we're drawn to often illuminate the very challenges we're currently navigating, and because literature is one of the most accessible forms of learning available. Enhance your character traits, the qualities that determine how far you go, resilience, integrity, courage, adaptability, not soft skills, real skills. And in a world where AI can replicate technical capability, character is what makes you distinctively human. Good mental health and well-being, the foundation that makes everything else sustainable. Because emotional wellness isn't separate from professional success. It's what allows you to show up fully for your work and for yourself. Five collections, one purpose, each one born from something real, together one purpose, helping you navigate your work life with clarity, purpose, passion, and pride. That's what School of Work Life is: the thinking behind the ideas, the real experience inside the crafted stories, because that's where the learning lives, not only in the story itself, but in what it reveals about your own. The first episode is waiting for you. The stories behind the stories episode Ashtling, aka Carmel. It's free, so you can experience what the stories behind the stories offers before you subscribe. After that, you need to subscribe to listen. New weekly bonus episodes with exclusive content release every Thursday. Thank you for listening.
