We all know that sinking feeling — the moment you’re convinced you messed up, said the wrong thing, made the wrong move, or completely derailed your progress. This episode unpacks what actually happens in those moments and why our minds jump to the worst‑case scenario so quickly.
“The Moment You Think You Blew It” explores the truth behind self‑doubt, the stories we create in our heads, and how often those moments are turning points rather than failures. You’ll learn how to reframe the panic, reclaim your confidence, and recognize the growth hidden inside the discomfort.
✨ A reminder: the moment you think you blew it might be the moment you’re actually breaking through.

There is a moment every believer faces, at least this one. The moment when you mess up. You fall back into the old habit. You say something you regret, or you make a choice you swore you'd never make again, and instantly your thought hits you. Boy, I blew it. I messed up too big this time. God's gotta be disappointed in me. God's gotta be tired of this. You know, we imagine God reacting the way people do, with frustration, with impatience, with a sign that says really again? But here's the truth you need to hear. God isn't shocked by your struggle. He's not surprised by your weakness. He's sure not caught off guard by your humanity. He's not like pacing heaven wondering why you can't get it together. He knew your battle before you fought it. He knew your wound before you felt it. He knew your patterns before you recognized them, and he still chose you. He still called you. He still loves you. Your struggle doesn't disqualify you. It reveals how much you need him. And needing him is not a failure. It's faith. So today we're going to talk about the God who stays, the God who understands, the God who isn't shocked by your struggle, but is deeply committed to your healing. I want to thank you for joining me here on this episode of Faith Between the Lines. I'm Scott. Let's get into this. Most of us all grew up with a picture of God that wasn't accurate. A God who was quick to anger, a God who was easily disappointed, or a God who expected performance and punished failure. So when we struggle, we assume God reacts the way people do. We imagine him folding his arms. We imagine him shaking his head. We imagine him stepping back and saying, I thought you were better than this. But that's not God. That's fear talking. That's the shame talking. That's the old wounds talking. God doesn't respond to your struggle with disgust. He responds with compassion. He responds with understanding. He responds with grace. You're not surprising him. You're not exhausting him. And you're sure not disappointing him. You're human and he loves you and your humanity. God saw the battle before you ever fought it. Before you ever struggled, God already knew the path you'd walk. He knew the temptations you'd face. He knew the wounds you'd carry. He knew the habits you'd battle. He knew the moments you'd fall. He didn't choose you in spite of that. He chose you knowing that. He didn't call you because you'd be flawless. He called you because he knew you needed him. He knew you'd lean on him. He knew your weakness would become the place his strength shows up. Your struggle doesn't surprise God. It's the very reason he stays close. He's not waiting for you to impress him. He's waiting for you to trust him. You know, we all struggle along the way, but it doesn't mean that we have failed. You know, somewhere along the way we started believing that struggle equals failure. That if we're really strong, really spiritual, and really committed, we won't battle the same thing. But that's not how healing works. That's not how growth works. That's not how God works. Struggle's not a sign that you're failing. It's a sign that you're fighting. It means you care. It means you're trying. It means you haven't given up. And God honors the fight. He honors the effort. He honors your heart that keeps coming back. Even when it feels messy, even when it feels weak, even when it feels repetitive. God isn't shocked by your struggle. He's proud of your persistence. You know, and that's exactly what grace was built for. Grace isn't for the moments you get it all right. Grace is for the moments you don't. Grace is for the relapse. Grace is for that regret. Grace is for the weakness you can't shake. Grace is for the part of you that still needs healing. If you don't struggle, you won't need grace. And if you don't need grace, you don't need God. Your struggle doesn't push God away. It pulls him closer. Grace was built for the exact moment you think disqualifies you. The moments you hide, the moments you regret, the moments you wish you could erase. Those are the moments God leans in and says, I'm not going anywhere. As a reflection of this episode, I wrote a poem for it called He Stayed. You fell again and thought he'd turn away, but God saw it coming and chose to stay. Your struggle isn't something he fears, he gathers your weakness and drives your tears. You think you shocked him, but he always knew, and still he whispers, I won't leave you. Grace holds a place where you feel undone. You're still my child, you're still the one. Our life's journey and spiritual journey a lot of times is a struggle. But it doesn't change your identity. It doesn't change your calling. It doesn't change your worth. It doesn't change God's love for you. You are still his. You're still chosen, still held, still wanted, and still loved. God doesn't walk away when you fall. He kneels down and he helps you stand. He doesn't withdraw his calling, he strengthens your character. He doesn't revoke his love. He deepens it. You're not defined by your struggle. You're defined by the God who stays with you in it. And he's not shocked. He's not surprised. And he's not disappointed. He is committed. I want to thank you for joining me here on this episode, and I hope I met you right where you are. You being here in this space matters. Your questions and comments are always welcome and can be left on YouTube or on Buzzsprout. Before I close, I want to take a moment to honor the families and the men and the women of our military. Those who serve, those who have served, and those who stand behind them with quiet strength. Your sacrifice, your courage, and your commitment to this great country do not go unnoticed. May God bless you, protect you, and surround you and your families with peace and gratitude from all of us. We'll see you here on the next episode. Always remember this.
