We’re surrounded by noise — opinions, expectations, criticism, praise, pressure. But underneath all of that is one voice we often ignore: our own. In this episode, we explore what it means to reconnect with the voice that truly guides your life, your choices, and your identity.

We get into:

  • How outside voices drown out your inner truth
  • Why self‑trust feels so hard (and how to rebuild it)
  • The difference between intuition and fear
  • What happens when you finally listen to yourself
  • Practical ways to strengthen your inner voice every day

If you’ve ever felt lost in the crowd, pulled in a hundred directions, or unsure of what you really want, this episode helps you tune back in. Because the voice that actually matters has been there all along — waiting for you to hear it.

We spend so much of our lives worrying about what other people think of us. What they notice, what they assume, what they're whispering, what they misunderstand, and without realizing it, we start shaping our own identity around the opinions of people who don't know our story. They don't know our heart, they don't know our battles, and they don't know the healing God is doing beneath the surface. But here's the truth. God isn't asking what they think of you. He's asking what you think of him. Because your relationship with God is the only relationship that defines your identity. Not the crowd, especially the critics, not the people who misunderstood your intentions, not the ones who walked away. God isn't looking for your reputation. He's looking for your heart. He's looking at your trust. He's looking at your willingness to believe that his voice matters more than any other voice in the room. So today we're going to talk about shifting your focus from the opinions that drain you to the God who defines you. I want to thank you for joining me here. I'm Face Between the Lines, and I'm Scott. You know, life can get loud. People are loud. Opinions are loud. And if you're not careful, you'll start living your life in reaction to the noise. You'll start doubting yourself because someone misunderstood you. You start shrinking because someone judged you. You start hiding because someone didn't approve of you. You start even questioning your worth because someone didn't see your value. But here's the truth people's voices are loud, but they are not accurate. They don't see your heart, they sure don't know your motives. They don't understand your journey. They don't see the nights that you prayed, the battles that you fought, the healing that you're walking through, and yet we let their voices shape us. But God's voice is different. It's steady, it's true, it's rooted in love, not judgment. And when you learn to tune out the noise, you start hearing the voice that actually only matters. You know, your husband or your wife may have something to say about that, but truthfully, at the end of the day for any one of us, that's really the only voice that really matters. When God looks at your life, he's not asking what do people think of you? He's asking what do you think of me? Because your view of God shapes everything else. If you think God is angry, you're gonna hide. If you think God is disappointed, you're definitely gonna withdraw. If you think God is distant, you'll stop praying. If you think God is harsh, you'll live in fear. But if you believe God is loving, you will come close. If you believe he is patient, you'll be honest. If you believe he is gentle, you'll stop pretending. If you believe he is faithful, you'll trust him with the parts you that hurt. Your life isn't shaped by what people think of you. It is shaped by what you believe about God. There's a freedom that comes when you stop living for the approval of many and start living for the love of one. When you stop chasing validation, when you stop explaining yourself, when you stop apologizing for being human, when you stop letting people's opinions dictate your peace. Because the moment you realize that God's voice is the only voice that defines you, you'll stop being controlled by the noise. You'll stop shrinking, you'll stop hiding, you'll stop performing, and you'll start breathing again. You will start praying honestly again. You will start walking with confidence again, because you're no longer trying to impress people, you're trusting God, and that shift changes everything. You know, God's opinion is rooted in love. People's opinion change. God's love doesn't. People judge moments. God sees the whole story. People see the flaw, God sees the future. People must understand you. God knows you completely. And the opinion that God holds of you is rooted in love, not performance. He calls you his child, he calls you chosen, he calls you forgiven, he calls you redeemed, and he calls you loved. And when you anchor your identity and what God says about you, the opinion of others lose their power because God's voice is steady even when people are not. As a reflection of this episode, I wrote a poem for it called One Voice. The crowd speaks loudly, but their words aren't true. They judge the moment, but God sees through. Their voices fade like the wind in the night, but his voice stays steady, gentle and right. So lift your eyes from the noise around. Your worth is rooted in love, not sound. You know, at the end of the day, your identity isn't built on who approves you or who misunderstands you or who walked away from you. Your identity is built on the God who stays, the God who knows your heart, the God who sees your wounds, the God who understands your story, and the God who loves you without conditions. You don't need the crowd's approval when you already have God's affection. You don't need people to validate you when God already called you. You don't need everyone to understand you when God already knows you. Your identity is not for the public vote. It's anchored in the one who created you, and he's not asking what you think, he's asking what you believe. My closing blessing for this episode is may you feel the freedom of living for the one voice instead of many. May God's truth drown out every lie spoken over your life. May courage rise in you and may fear fall away. May you remember this. Your identity is not shaped by the crowd. It is shaped by the God who knows you, loves you, and calls you his own. I want to thank you for joining me here on this episode of Faith Between the Lines, and I hope I met you right where you are. You being here in this space matters. Your questions and comments are always welcome and can be left on YouTube or on BuzzSprout. Before I close, I want to take a moment to honor the families, the men and the women of our military, those who serve, those who have served, and those who stand behind them with quiet strength. Your sacrifice, your courage, and your commitment to this great country do not go unnoticed. May God bless you, protect you, and surround you and your families with peace and gratitude from all of us. And always remember this you are never walking alone. We'll see you here next time.
