Welcome to Delving Deeper with Oleander Hawthorne and Delphine Alendra. Today we are going to do a session three recap. We are post con. Very tired. Very tired. And we were Tris and Siri today, so hence the wigs. And the big Escar. And the big escar. Yeah. Now, uh, okay, so session three was it was a big session. Law and disorder. Yes. There was a lot of disorder. Not so much law. No. No. It was pretty much like the anti-law. Anti-law. Yeah. Uh now we started out. Very sad. Very sad. Ah. Yeah. Yeah. Now okay. I've said it before and I'll say it again. At no point did I think that I could kill Guy. I know he'd been with us for less than 24 hours, or maybe like just 24 hours. I think, yeah. About 24 hours, really. Yeah. In game. We just rescued him. He's still recovering from the orc camp. He really was. He had just been a prisoner. And for a while, I think. And uh, yeah, then he uh runs into me. I rescue him only to kill him. But we start out accidentally. Uh we start out the episode with me hiding his body and uh doing a ritual to put him to rest, hopefully, a little bit. And um I tell no one because I am so determined nobody else knows. Uh or no, okay, uh, eventually I do confess to somebody, but um not me. I don't know. Yeah. I was so determined that nobody else was going to know what I had done because I didn't want them to I didn't want them to think poorly of my companion, my friend that I loved, and I didn't want them to also be like if I'm not gonna tell them about him, I can't tell them why I killed him. And then if I tell them if I say that I killed him and I don't tell them why, then they're just gonna think that I went on a massive hangry rampage. And you know what? At this point, actually, like there's no need to tell us. There really isn't. Because it wouldn't really help anything or change anything. And in from my character's perspective, this guy was just the blip. Like, oh, this is someone she knew. And he left her again. I'm like, oh that's just shh sucks. That's shitty. Like, it's pretty awful of him, but that was it. In in our interactions with him, is that was a blip. Like, she wouldn't even know to ask any of the information he might, she could have asked him. Like, he was just this per literally just some guy that she knew who was clearly important to her, and it's sort of a oh, I think he, you know, I think poorly of him in that, like, I think he just ditched you and hurt your feelings. Which he was trying to do, to be fair. He was trying to leave. He was actively trying to leave without saying anything, but then I got scared and panicked. But I I just think that there's no need, actually, to even ever tell us. I appreciate you saying that because I get criticized. We do like to bug people about secret keeping. Yeah. I have she's not the worst one at all. I know, but I do I do probably have more secrets than anybody else. It's just that they are acknowledged. Yes, they are acknowledged as not affecting the rest of the party. Yeah, it's not, it's not like they're not secrets that affect our current mission, like our quests, our goals. Right now, they're they are important character development type things, but they're actually not, if they never come up, they never come up. Yeah. And so mo almost all of my secrets that I am keeping are ones that uh have no weight for the party. Um, yeah, I don't tell other people's secrets. Mm-hmm. It's never become necessary for me to tell other people's secrets. And uh so that's a secret that is gonna be taken to a grave. It's already been taken to one grave, yeah.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Got a secret, can you keep it? Say this one. Yeah. Two can keep a secret if one of them is dead. Uh but also at like the end of the second episode, we found out that Valera, the captain of the guard, is in league with the Obsidian Shadows and um claimed that she's being forced to help them, but Delphine doesn't care that you're being forced or not. Like, yeah, shitty, sucks to be you, but you still helped the orcs get in. Like, we f we find that she has been actively helping them. And uh, so she's taken to the jail, and Delphine's like, okay, now we're gonna call the council because now I don't know who in the council is involved. We don't know um if like we need to first tell them even about Valeria because we don't know if they know anything about her. So we call the council, and then also, you know, shit's going down. All the leaders of the city should probably just come together and make some decisions. Yeah. And it's not in a sense that Delphine, Delphine's aware we have no real authority here. Yeah. All the only thing we actually don't. Yeah. The authority that we have here is actually given to us by a traitor. Yeah. But we are so involved in everything that I'm like, okay, we just need you guys need to know this information. And if you're part of the city, the channels, well, now you're our problem, basically. So we call all the council in, and we're we are all on like a high, self-righteous high of like, yeah, we are the good guys. We just did this awesome thing. We have saved, helped save the city, and we just found the traitor, and now, like, this is great, and everything's going fine, and she's reading people's thoughts, and Einar's trying to read people's thoughts, and Druken's trying to sense evil, and Delphine's trying to like play the diplomat kind of like politician here, and we're all. He's not a good politician. No, Drunkin's a terrible politician. Delphine was a big thing. He's too blunt. Delphine was being the politician. Druken was being way too blunt. I'm like, dude, you just know.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And I often forget to use my uh my charm to, um not my charm, my charisma. Well, that's a charm. Yeah, yeah. I forgot to. No capital C charm. Yeah. Charm. Um I forget to use that to our advantage almost ever. Uh it was actually only once we entered uh a couple sessions later that I start remembering that. Remembered. I should actually be the speaker personally. I might be good at talking about that. Yeah. But sometimes when you have somebody really smart around, that you you kind of forget that they shouldn't be the one in charge of speaking for your group. No, but I I do think of a lot of questions. You are very you are very smart. Very small. Yes. No, I'm the small one, you're the smart one. I'll take it. Um, but so we're on a high, we're doing great, and who just fucking ruins it? My friend the devil. Literally the devil, Ravenshade literally walks in and he has wormed his way onto the council, and it's a palpable power dynamic shift. Because we were actually doing really good. We didn't see this. We're having control of the room. We were not see this coming. And it was a literal power shift because if if he's there, because Delphine's already like, yeah, no, that guy's a devil. Now he's here. Yeah. He's in a position of respect and authority somehow out of nowhere. Yeah. And I'm like, instant we have to change tactics. I'm like, we gotta get the fuck out of here. Yeah. We seriously thought we were this dynamic power shift. You've never had you've like, have you guys ever been in the middle of a session where you think you are doing absolutely amazing, and then just from one moment to the next, you realize that everything good that you thought was happening is actually crap. You have zero power, zero authority, and you're like, I have control. Oh no. I have absolutely no control. Yeah, because Raven Shade, like, he makes he charmed me, capital C charmed. Yeah. And Delphine's real mad about that. Uh so that she would speak in his favor. Yeah. At all. I really hate Raven, really hate Raven Sheen. I should start charming him into doing Raven the most. I hate him more than the Raven Queen. I fucking hate him so much. I hate him so much more. Do you hate him as much as I hate the Raven Queen though? No. I don't think any of us hate anything as much as you hate the Raven Queen. Okay.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, you might get there though. You might get there. We saw a really good Raven Queen cosplayer today, and we're like, yay! Oh wait, we don't like you. But you look really good. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. We're at GameCon Canada today, um, this weekend. And uh, yeah. She looked really good. She did a good job. I can't remember what she won uh off the top of my head. But yeah, that's tabletop is that what it was. Tabletop character. Okay, yeah, so she comes on stage and we're so excited. And then we turn to the people, like, as we're being like, yay, Katie Ravy! Wait, fuck, no, I don't like you! Wait, and then we have to explain to the people standing next to us that okay, yes, one of my cosplays is the champion of the Raven Queen. I don't think Raven likes her though. No, he doesn't really like her very much. He's a reluctant champion. Yeah, he's very reluctant. But yeah, my current character has such a hate on we though outside of all this, we loved loved the Raven Queen. We loved her aesthetic, her look, the whole thing. I love ravens. I want it too much. I want a pet raven one. I kinda still do because I just love the look so much. I I really love the aesthetic. And and then she's a bitch, and now we don't like her. Yeah. I will find a way to turn my story arc into either becoming a god to take her down or finding some other way to destroy the Raven Queen. Delphine just wants to minorly inconvenience her. Just annoy her. It's not a sin. However, we do encourage it. Yes. Yes. Oh, we also discovered yesterday murder is not actually listed on the sins. Unless you guys can actually figure that. Um we might be just overthinking this one, but sidetrack from our game. Yeah, sorry, total sidetrack. But we were demons yesterday in cosplay. So murder is. I was trying to teach her about the seven deadly sins, and we were talking about murder. I'm like, it's actually, it would probably depend on which sin caught was your motive for the murder. Probably wrath. Most common, I think it'd be wrath. Could be sloth. Because murder by laziness, like you're just too lazy to help. Hmm. Depends on the it's it's complicated. Anyway, back to our game. Sometimes you just need a slight tangent that can also be DD related. It is, right? Because I bet you that uh Raven Shade is really good at all the sins. Oh, he's really good at making people do all the sins. Because he is described as essentially the Dosekis guy, and uh it's one of the most interesting moments. I need to reluctantly admit he is good looking, but I fucking hate this guy. He's like Silver Fox, like however, I fucking hate this guy. So, so he he basically he instantly revokes all of our like rights in the city, and we're like, we gotta go. Yeah, he didn't technically kick us out. No, we started running. I would have stayed, but that would have been so bad, I think, if we had stayed. I wonder, but see, if we had stayed, do you think that he actually would have tried to put a warrant out for us? Or would he I think he would have pinned something on us. He would have like, he would have yeah. Oh yeah. That's possible. Or he would have just, you know, tried to ended up in that jail that blowed up. That blew it up. It did blow up. It did dung got blew up. Yeah. But it would have blown up before he even thought to do anything. Yeah, because they needed to silence Valera. Maybe he would have just checked cashed in his favor. Yes. Yeah. Because I still owe him a favor. And that's one of the one of the reasons Delphine really hates him is because he we kind of got like finagled into that, and Delphine feels really badly that she didn't click in fast enough to what was happening. Everything's her fault. That's what she thinks, at least. Yeah, Oleander will, you know, go into agreements and just deal with the consequences later. Delphine doesn't want to be able to do that. She's gonna have to do something awful, I'm sure. Delphine doesn't want you to have to deal with that consequence. Yeah. Delphine feels like that's on her. She should have stopped that. Yeah. You should have. Yeah. Big sister vibes should have stopped that. Anyway, um, we skedaddle, not before uh Delphine. Probably ill-advised, but you know, we're not all none of us are perfect, and sometimes wrath gets the better of us. Uh I went and picked a fight with Ravenshade, and I was speaking to him in Infernal, and I was basically calling him out like, why are you bothering with all this shit? And uh he just thought it was really fucking amusing. But I think I annoyed him enough. I think I got under his skin. I think I did. You got under someone's skin. I got under his skin. Might have been the DMs. I got under someone's skin. I got under his skin. Yeah, I think so. And she felt pretty good about that. That was nice. Though he did get the last word. He knows how to back. He knows how to just because I she does like to get the last word on things. You do.

unknown

Yes.

SPEAKER_00

Yes. That might not be just a character. I blame my family. That's how we are. Yeah. But, anyways, going on a uh not across town, but you know, uh in a in the next building over at the jail, we've got Valera and who was it? Drax and Drax and Rolled. They went to go guard her to make sure that nothing was because that's pretty we were pretty sure that like someone would kill her or knock her out of the house the night. One of yeah, one of those two options. Yeah. And uh while they were talking to her, she did her big sob story of oh, I have a daughter and they threatened her, and that's why I'm doing what I'm doing. But then they said she's in hiding. And she's safe in hiding. Okay, but if she was safe in hiding, I mean, okay, I'm a parent. I will do I don't I'll do the shady shit to save my kids. We understand she'll do the shady shit to protect her kid. We're not saying that, you know, we don't understand why she made the choice she did. However, there's still consequences. Yeah, like you you I understand why you did that. You still did a whole or enabled the actions of a whole lot of really terrible things, and this town still deserves the justice and closure for that. How many children died because of her choices for five years? Like she'd been doing that forever. Who knows how many people that died because of her? Yeah. And not just in the attack on the town. Yeah. Like the, you know, all the townsfolk, all the children that were taken, everything was because of her. And then the one person in our party who should have been like, I give no shits. What you say, I am taking you down, did not. He's like, Oh, that is a sad story. I understand. Well, first he went from I want to kill you to Yeah, he went there and he's just like, oh yeah, I'm gonna I'm gonna torture her. Yeah, yeah, yeah. He I was a little concerned, but you know. Yeah, we thought we thought he was gonna do some uh you know, take her out while uh while she was there, and so you know, Dras was gonna protect. But yeah, then he did a total 180. Yeah. But that is mostly the next session that we deal with a lol, that argument. Yes, yes, but in this one there was just a big giant explosion where uh her last meal came with a little extra spice. Yeah, a little extra spice, a little bit of party surprise. Yeah, but it was a big interesting session, and uh obviously there was a lot more than ha that happened than just that, but uh those were our big things that we like to hash out over and over and over again. Yeah, and we had to skedaddle out of Crystalboro, and we were all a little sad about that because we really liked being in a crystalboro. That was the first place that was really felt like home to our characters. Um, I mean, we have an actual home elsewhere that in a town that we had saved early on in the campaign. And uh we're you know welcome there anytime, but this was the first place that our characters really um settled in more and interacted with a lot of people. We left her doing okay. Yeah, one of the NPCs was a character from our other campaign that was. He's retired and became a bellboy. He's great. Yeah, he was so fun. He was the best. Yeah, and uh, you know, everyone's shockingly similar to Mr. Drex. Yeah, as a little side note, I uh I am panicking because I left a body in a town that I can't have at the time. Did you bury him with all his stuff or did you take his stuff? I left all his stuff behind. No! And so now I'm panicking because I can't. If I'd had time, honestly, I would have found a way to dig him up and take him with me. Mm-hmm. Because I don't now I don't know what's gonna happen to him. You could have just talked to miss talked to Drax and he could have kept it a secret and kept him in the bag of holding. I couldn't tell Drax without telling anybody else. I don't know, I think Drax would keep a secret for you. I feel like he might. He might. Yeah. He's pretty I I think he's actually pretty good at secrets. I think Drax would actually be pretty damn good at secrets. And we He's a himbo, but he's probably pretty good at secrets. Yeah, and we've got a lot of bodies in that bag of holding, anyways. I feel like he's the only person who knows how many bodies are in the bag of holding. He would be. Because that's how many of them are Mr. Drax's bodies. Yeah, yeah, a lot of them are his own bodies. And that's weird when you think about it. He's got like his own body. Yeah, I gotta make my own bodies. Yeah. So weird. Good if you need to fake your own death, though. Should I start trying to tell Drax secrets just to see if he would keep them? I think he would. Okay, guys. Thank you for joining us. We're gonna go to secrets. We're gonna go start thinking of secrets that we can tell Drax and see if he'll keep them. If you guys have any wonderful secrets to dish out about your game. Things that your characters can't tell anybody else, you guys can tell them to us. Let us know in the comments. Thank you very much for joining. Yes, big or small. I like small secrets sometimes. They're great. Thank you for joining us for delving deepers. Our metagame conversations about our sessions and uh characters, and basically just asking each other what were you thinking? Have a good day.
