In this episode, Christopher Shaw and Aeon Archer explore The Unshakeable Heart: Finding Stillness in a World That Never Stops through the lenses of spirituality, meditation, contemplative Christianity, the Bhagavad Gita, Buddhism, non-duality, Kundalini Yoga, mindfulness, recovery, and conscious living. Together they examine why the modern world leaves so many feeling anxious, distracted, and spiritually exhausted, and reveal the timeless wisdom of discovering the unchanging Presence beneath every passing thought, emotion, and circumstance. This episode concludes with a guided meditation designed to help you directly experience the stillness that has never left you.

✨ Reflection Questions

• Where have I been living in tomorrow instead of fully inhabiting today?

• What in my life keeps changing—and what has quietly remained through it all?

• What fears, stories, or identities am I carrying that no longer belong to me?

• What would change if I stopped searching for peace and began remembering it?

• How can I return to stillness throughout my day, even when life feels uncertain?

🔥 Practice of the Week

The Return Practice

1️⃣ Pause

Several times each day, stop for one slow, conscious breath.

Allow your shoulders to soften.

Feel your feet on the ground.

2️⃣ Notice

Observe what is happening within you.

Are you living in this moment...

Or somewhere in the future?

Simply notice without judgment.

3️⃣ Return

Gently bring your attention back to your breath.

Back to your body.

Back to this moment.

Remember:

You are not your thoughts.

You are the awareness in which they arise.

4️⃣ Rest

For just thirty seconds...

Do nothing.

Fix nothing.

Become nothing.

Simply rest in the Presence that has always been here.

5️⃣ Remember

Whenever life feels overwhelming this week, silently repeat:

"Return."

Then ask yourself:

"What has never left me?"

Allow that question to lead you back to the stillness beneath every experience.

Welcome to the Archer Shaw Temple Podcast. I'm Christopher Dall here with Day on Archer. With this transmission we to exactly where you are and open the next doorway on your path. Let us begin. Hello, everyone. I wanted to welcome all of you who are here live on Zoom with us today. Those who are live with us on YouTube, those who are listening later to our podcast or the replay, we welcome you to Merkaba Temple online. Today's teaching, The Unshakable Heart, Finding Stillness in a World That Never Stops. Can you feel it? Can you feel it? Something is happening beneath the surface of our world. You can feel it. Even if you've stopped watching the news, deleted social media, or even if you spend your mornings in meditation, you can feel it. Humanity is moving faster than the human soul was ever designed to move. Somewhere along the way, we've confused speed with progress, information with wisdom, connection with communion, and urgency with purpose. We have become a culture that believes if we're moving faster, we must be moving forward. But I wonder if the opposite is actually true. I wonder if the greatest crisis of our time is not political, economic, or technological. I wonder if the greatest crisis of our time is that we've forgotten how to be still. Many people wake up exhausted before the day has even begun. Not because they've done too much, but because they've forgotten where they live. Not physically, but spiritually. They've taken up residence in tomorrow, in imagined catastrophes, in unfinished conversations, and in other people's opinions. Very few people are actually living where their life is happening in the here and in the now. A few weeks ago, Anne and I moved into the new Archershaw River Temple in the Paso Ancho Mountain Pass on the Rio Quale River here in Puerto Vallarta. Every morning we sit beside the river before the world wakes up. And we've stopped asking it questions and simply listen. The river has become one of our greatest teachers. The river never hurries. It never compares itself to another river. It never worries about reaching the ocean. It simply remains faithful to its own nature. It flows day after day, season after season, year after year. And given enough time, that river reshapes mountains. Not through force and not through aggression, and not through urgency, but through unwavering presence. I wonder how much of our suffering comes from trying to become someone else. When our real work is learning to become completely faithful to who we already are. There is a beautiful teaching in the Bhagavad Gita. Krishna describes the wise person as one who remains steady amidst pleasure and pain, gain and loss, praise and blame. And notice what he doesn't promise. He never promises a life without storms. He promises a way of standing within them. The same truth echoes across every great wisdom tradition. Jesus never promised that the storms would stop. In fact, he slept inside one. The Buddha did not eliminate suffering. He awakened in the midst of it. Krishna did not remove Arjuna from the battlefield. He taught him how to stand without abandoning himself. The invitation has never been to escape life. The invitation has never been to control life. The invitation has always been to discover that within you which life cannot shake. So the invitation has always been to discover that within you which life cannot shake. So think about your own life for a moment. Your body has changed, your relationships have changed, your work has changed. Most of us have known heartache. Some of us have known addiction. Many of us have buried people that we've loved. Almost everything in our lives has changed, and yet here we are. Something has remained. Something has witnessed every chapter of our lives. That is what the sages are inviting us to discover. The sages they called it Atman. Jesus called it the kingdom of God within. The yogis called it Shiva consciousness. Different names, one reality. There is something within you that has never been broken. Not because your life has been easy, but because your deepest identity has never been your suffering. Sure, trauma is real, grief is real, and loss is real, but beneath every experience is an awareness that has quietly witnessed it all. The sky is never damaged by the storm moving through it. The ocean is never threatened by its own waves. And awareness is never wounded by the thoughts passing across it. That changes everything. Because if peace depends upon circumstances, it will disappear every time circumstances change. But if peace is your nature, then the spiritual path is not about creating it, it's about remembering it. So this is why we meditate, this is why we pray, this is why we chant. It's not to become something that we're not, but to remember what has always been true. So this week, when the world asks you to hurry, I would like to ask you to slow down. When fear demands your attention, come back to your breath. When your mind wanders into tomorrow, return to this moment, return to awareness, and return to the presence that has been quietly waiting beneath every thought. Stop trying to be peaceful. Become established in the peace that has never left. Stop trying to be whole, and instead recognize the wholeness that has been patiently waiting beneath every fear, and stop trying to become the light. Just let the clouds pass and discover that the light has been shining all along. Then one day you will discover something remarkable. The world may continue to shake, but the deepest truth of who you are never has. Take a deep breath in. The deepest truth of who you are never has. Divine light, in us, through us, and as us, we thank you for the timeless wisdom that reminds us of who we truly are. As we prepare to enter the silence, help us lay down everything that is not ours to carry. May we release our fears, may we release our striving, and may we release the illusion that peace depends upon our circumstances. Instead, awaken us to the unchanging presence that has been with us through every joy, every sorrow, every beginning and every ending. May we remember that beneath every passing thought there is awareness. Beneath every changing season there is stillness, and beneath every human story there is the light of the divine. Open our hearts to that reality now. May we rest there, may we trust there, and may we abide there, and may we discover for ourselves that the deepest truth can never be taken away, because it is who we inherently are. Om Namashivaya, Om Guru Amen Aho Ashe. And so it is. Aon will now lead us into meditation to embody the teaching.

Alright. Remembering we are unshakable. Thank you, Christopher, for your sermon. Alright, everyone, if it feels comfortable, allow your eyes to gently close. Taking a slow, deep breath in through the nose. And slowly exhale, surrendering yourself to the gravity beneath you. Again, breathing in. And breathing out. One more time, breathing in. Allowing yourself to arrive. Exhaling right here. Right now. Begin to notice the support beneath your body. Notice the gentle rhythm of your own breath. Nothing to fix. Nothing to accomplish. Nothing to become. Just this moment. Now simply become aware of the natural rhythm of your inhales and your exhales without changing it. Just notice. The breath comes, the breath goes, yet you remain. Now begin to notice the sounds all around you. Some near, some distant. And you don't have to resist them. You don't have to follow them. They come, they go, and you remain. Notice your thoughts. Perhaps they're quiet. Perhaps they're busy. It doesn't matter. Thoughts come, thoughts go. And still you remain. Now bring to mind a memory from your childhood. Don't analyze it. Simply allow it to appear. Notice that you are aware of it. Now allow that memory to fade. Bring to mind a season of your life when everything seemed to be changing. Perhaps a move, a relationship, a loss, a new beginning. And again, simply notice you are aware of it. Now let that memory fade and come back to this moment. Your body has changed. Your circumstances have changed. Your relationships have changed. Your thoughts have changed. Your life has changed. And yet there is something within you that has quietly witnessed every chapter. Rest there. Not in the story. In the one who has witnessed the story. Awareness does not resist experience. It simply knows. Rest as that awareness. No effort. No striving. Simply rest. Silently repeat these words. I am not the passing thought. I am not the passing fear. I am the awareness that remains. Again. I am the awareness that remains. Taking one more slow deep breath in. Feeling gratitude. For this breath. For this moment. For the quiet presence that has never left you. Begin bringing awareness back into your body. Back into the sacred community. Back into this moment. And when you are ready, gently open your eyes. Welcome back, everyone. And what I have just discovered is that when you rest in awareness, you do not get stung by wasps. If you have wasps on my arm, yeah. Oh, nice. Little friend. Just be gentle. If I spotted it, I might have gotten stuck.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, that was a beautiful meditation. I know you guys can't hear it there, but here we just hear the rushing of the river. That is so peaceful. I can't wait for you all to come. You are all invited to join us here. So before we move into today's announcements, I would like to invite you into a moment of sacred exchange. So every week the temple is offered freely. There's no membership, no subscription, and no paywall, because we believe that spiritual wisdom should be available to everyone who is seeking it. But while grace is freely given, a temple is not sustained by grace alone. It is sustained by a community of people who believe that this work matters. If today's teaching has nourished you, if these weekly gatherings have helped you breathe a little deeper, heal a little more, or remember who you are, then today is an opportunity to help carry this temple forward. Your generosity makes this possible. It helps us continue creating these weekly services. It helps us reach people around the world, and it allows us to continue building a spiritual home where all are welcome. Now we don't ask because we have to. We ask because participation transforms us. Giving is a spiritual practice. It reminds us that we are not merely consumers, we are co-creators. If Merkabah Temple has become part of your spiritual path, would you consider becoming part of its foundation? You can give today at Merkabatemple.com forward slash donate or through Vinmo. Pick up your phone, open your Vinmo, type in Merkaba Temple. Ooh, I got some. Thank you. Thank you for those who I just opened my phone and I got some Vinmos. Thank you so much. I really appreciate your offerings. To every person who gives, whether it's five dollars, fifty, five hundred, or even five hundred thousand. We are so grateful. We thank you because every gift matters. Every gift says, I believe this temple should continue. And if you're financially strapped, there's lots of ways to give. It could be sharing our YouTube channel with a friend, telling someone about our retreats, about our teachings, about the meditations, about our offerings, letting them know, right? Spreading the word is another way that you can give. We are deeply grateful and so grateful that all of you are here.

Before we close the day, we'd love to share a few exciting things happening in our community. First, this past Wednesday, we have our first, very first River Temple Satsang here at Archer Straw Temple in Puerto Vagarda. And what a beautiful evening it was. So this week's teaching will be the purpose of spiritual practice. So if you've ever wondered why you meditate or why we meditate, why we chant or why we pray or how spiritual practice actually transforms our lives, we hope you will join us. You can learn more and register at archershaw.

SPEAKER_01

And second, can I ask you a question? All right, what's stopping you? What's keeping you from healing, from freedom, from becoming the person you know you're capable of being? So many people spend years waiting for the right time, waiting until life settles down, until I have more time, more money, more certainty. But healing begins the moment we decide our lives are worth investing in. So if you're feeling called to something deeper, we invite you to join us here in our beautiful ports of IRTA for a private couples or chosen family emergency. Whether you're coming with yourself, your partner, your chosen family, or you join one of our small groups, we create a personalized experience designed to help you step away from the noise of everyday life and reconnect with what matters most. You. Using psychotherapy, spiritual practice, meditation, and where appropriate and desired, earth medicines, we help people create lasting transformation from the inside out. So if your heart is saying it's time, listen. Turn off those, oh, I don't have enough money, I don't have enough. Turn it off. Listen to your heart. We will find a way. Learn more at Mercabirdretreats.com.

Divine light in us, through us, and as us, with grateful hearts we thank you for this sacred time, for every breath, every silence, every song, every teaching, every moment of remembrance. As we return to our homes, to our families, our work, and our communities, may we carry this stillness with us, not as something fragile, but as something eternal. When the world asks us to hurry, may we remember to return. When fear asks us to forget who we are, may we remember to return. And when life feels uncertain, may we remember that beneath every changing circumstance, your presence remains. May our hearts remain steady, may our minds remain clear, may our words bring peace, and may our lives become a quiet refuge for those who are weary. Help us to walk gently, love generously, and trust deeply, knowing that the deepest, deepest truth of who we are has never been separate. May every step we take this week become a prayer, every conversation become an opportunity to embody compassion, and every challenge become an invitation to remember. And may all beings everywhere awaken to the divine light within them, through them, and as them. Thank you for being here with us at Archer Shaw Temple.
