What happens when an idea you had as an exhausted, overstimulated mom refuses to leave you alone for 17 years?

In this episode of The Mompreneur Collective, I sit down with Amanda Romero, the founder of Tusharoo, a portable toddler chair born from a problem she experienced firsthand as a mom. When her son was just nine months old, she couldn't find anything that would safely keep her very active little one seated, so she decided to create the solution herself.

What followed was a 17 year journey from idea to patent to prototype to finally launching Tusharoo in May 2026.

She takes us behind the scenes of what it really takes to bring a physical product to market. From utility patents, engineers, prototypes and million dollar manufacturing costs to failed production runs, supply chain setbacks during COVID, and moments when quitting felt incredibly tempting. Through it all, she became an expert at something every entrepreneur eventually has to learn: figuring out the next thing she didn't know how to do.

We also talk about the naysayers who didn't believe in her idea, raising three children while building a company, knowing when to slow down, resisting the pressure to have a huge launch, and making intentional decisions that allowed her family to remain a priority throughout the process.

Today, her vision for Tusharoo reaches far beyond one product. She hopes to create products that support children and families with different needs, build a company where moms can work while still being present for their children, and create a workplace that truly feels like family.

If you've been sitting on an idea, questioning whether you've waited too long, or wondering if you have what it takes to figure out everything that comes with building something of your own, this conversation is a powerful reminder: keep going.
