The Recalibration Diaries Part 1: Why You Haven't Reached Your Next Level Yet
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
This is part one of The Recalibration Diaries, a 3-part series focused on expanding your capacity to hold more wealth, freedom, and recognition.
If you’ve ever felt like you know you’re meant for more, but something keeps slowing you down right before the next level, this episode will help you understand why.
We cover:
• The subtle signs you’re building success from pressure instead of regulation
• Why your nervous system can perceive expansion as a threat
• How urgency, overthinking, and over-preparing can actually be indicators of a lower internal standard
• Why this is a calibration problem, not a motivation problem
• A simple exercise to begin retraining your nervous system to build from calm instead of stress (so you can consciously manifest)
If your next level still feels unsafe, your system will unconsciously resist it no matter how capable you are.

Welcome to the Expansion Edit Podcast, where if you hang around long enough, you'll learn that you can achieve anything by rewiring who you believe you are. I'm Chelsea, a licensed therapist, turned identity coach for the woman ready to create an extraordinary life and become the living manifestation of her vision board. Not through wishful thinking or fluffy affirmations, but through identity embodiment using proven techniques, rewiring protocols, and psychology-backed strategy grounded in neuroscience. Here we talk subconscious rewiring, nervous system safety, identity shifting, and manifestation in a way that expands your life from the inside out. So let's unlock your next level. Okay, welcome back to the podcast. This is a very exciting episode. This is part one of a three-part series called The Recalibration Diaries. And this series is all about becoming the woman who is able to command more wealth, freedom, and recognition in her industry. Okay, this is about expanding the identity of the person who can hold the life that you are building. So we're gonna talk about lots of things in this three-part series. But the first thing that we're gonna focus on in today's episode is how to tell if you're operating below your capacity or below what you're capable of, some signs and things that might be going on if that's true for you. And then the shift into how to make your next level feel more safe and therefore let your mind and body allow you to step into that level. So let me just paint a little picture for you. Okay. I'm gonna give you some hallmark signs that you might not be operating at the level that you're capable of. Okay, so you wake up in the morning and you're instantly thinking about your to-do list, you're thinking about work, you're thinking about where you need to be when, and your mind goes straight into go, go, go mode. Okay. This is a hallmark sign that you might be in a stress state if that is the first thing that turns on when you wake up in the morning. If you feel urgency when nothing is wrong, that you're thinking everything is relaxed and calm right now, what am I forgetting? That's another sign. Or you want more wealth influence and recognition, but every time you step into a situation where you might actually get that, something in your body tightens, or you think of a reason that it's not gonna work out or it's not for you. You might over-prepare for things, you might hesitate before you take actions that would align with you making more money or having more wealth or more recognition, such as raising your rates. You might question yourself before you become more visible, such as if you're giving a talk or you have a meeting with other people in your industry. You might go through your notes and make sure that you didn't get anything wrong and really just double check that you have it all right. All of these things are signs that you might be operating at a standard that your nervous system learned a long time ago in a state of survival. Okay. Now, this doesn't mean that you're incapable or you don't know what's going on. It just means that your brain and body might be operating from this state of stress and pressure. And if you are in fight or flight or you are in this stress state, you can't really consciously manifest because your brain and body is going to be constantly scanning for danger. The examples that I just listed are just to show you how the fight or flight response acts in real time in real life, when obviously we're not being chased by lions or bears or anything like that. This is how that kind of state of fight or flight manifests in our real modern life. Okay. So if your early wins in your career or schooling or whatever it is came from survival energy, so urgency, proving, overworking, then your nervous system equates expansion with threat. Okay. So we want to change that so that your nervous system equates expansion with safety. So when life starts to stretch you bigger, your system will always pull you back into familiar pressure because that's what it equates with safety and familiarity is being in that pressure state. So just to back up for a second, you can't use motivation to get out of this, right? Like you have to realize that you're in this state and then recalibrate your nervous system and your brain to learn that safety is safe and stress and pressure is unsafe and unfamiliar. So basically, we need to make the safety and the regulation feel familiar in order for your body to allow more expansion, receive more money, receive more opportunities without blocking it. So here's how you can test whether or not you are in this state. And some of you are gonna be like, oh yeah, no, I already know I'm there. And some of you not so much. So here are some questions that you can ask yourself. Do you only feel productive when you're slightly in that stress back against the wall place? You know what I mean with that. Like, do you only feel like you're really getting work done if there's a timeline or a deadline or you know, you feel that pressure of like, oh my gosh, I need to get this done? Is that when you snap into productivity mode? Okay, does slowing down feel like you're losing momentum or the ground that you've built up to? So are you able to rest and not feel like things are gonna fall apart when you're not constantly working towards whatever you're working towards? Okay. And do you create urgency even when none exists? So again, kind of thinking like, oh, I'm relaxed, like what's going on? What am I missing? What do I still need to do? Are you creating that urgency when there's really nothing to be urgent about? Or even taking it a step further, like, do you create urgency out of things that aren't urgent? Like, I know I used to do this all the time with when people would text me, I would be like, oh my gosh, I need to get back to them, like right now. And it's like, okay, do you like is that urgent or are you making it an urgent matter? And if you answered to yes to any or a few of those questions, it probably means that you're operating from pressure. So here's how we can start to recalibrate away from pressure and into regulation. I want you to choose one meaningful task that you need to do today or this week, whatever works for with your schedule, and complete it from a sense of calm and regulation. So this means you're gonna purposefully get yourself calm, whether that means you're gonna meditate first or you're gonna work out first, or you're going to do something that you know regulates your body for you. And then I want you to complete that task from that regulated state. Once you know that you're in a regulated state. It could be a task for work, it could be a home task or something you need to do for your kid's school, whatever it is. Regulate your nervous system first. So, again, that could be through meditation, through movement, you know, however you regulate. And if you're not sure, you can check out my morning routine guide because I have a lot of regulation exercises in that guide and it's free in my social media bios. So choose an activity that you know regulates you, do that first, and then do this task. And the reason I'm saying to do it this way is when you complete tasks from a regulated place, it trains your nervous system that success can be built from regulation. Because right now, your brain and body have learned that success is only built through pressure and hustle. So, what we're doing by doing this one task from a state of regulation is retraining the nervous system that you actually can build success when you're regulated and not when you're in fight or flight. And also when you do this over and over again, it retrains the neural pathways in your brain to understand, like, oh, okay, we can build success this way. And when you're regulated again, it allows you to consciously create and consciously manifest because your brain is not in a state of fight or flight danger where it's feeling like it needs to scan everything for survival. And suddenly you're gonna be able to see opportunities and ideas and creativity that was always right in front of you and within you, but you couldn't access it because you were in this state of fight or flight or freeze for a long, long time. So if your next level feels unsafe to you, because again, stress, because again, stress and hustle and pressure is what feels quote safe to you right now, if any of those things were true for you, then you're gonna unconsciously resist it and block it, no matter how capable you are. And you know, if you're listening to this podcast, I can pretty much guarantee that you have been told you are capable, that you've been recognized for the work that you do, that your talent has been recognized. Like you know, you have the capability, and yet you're not necessarily in the place that you want to be. And usually this is because we build from stress and pressure and not regulation. And so it's really just about retraining this because capacity has to be trained and expanded. And the more you can train and expand it, the more you're going to see those positive things come into your life. So go ahead and try that exercise and let me know how it goes. That is all for part one. Part two, we are going to talk about how to raise the standard, given that we know we need to recalibrate away from stress and pressure and building life through the way that we've built up to this point. So that's gonna be part two. And if you are listening to this episode, just know that I am going to be announcing a very exciting thing that I've been working on behind the scenes a lot. If you saw my social media, you saw that I was gonna be announcing that on Thursday. I am gonna announce that for you guys here on the podcast tomorrow. So stay tuned.
