Why Your Results Don’t Match Your Effort (And How to Fix It)
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
If you feel like you’re doing everything right… but your results aren’t matching, this episode is for you.
In this episode, I break down why effort alone isn’t what creates results, and how your current outcomes are actually a reflection of the level your identity and nervous system are calibrated to hold.
We talk about the pattern so many high-achieving women experience: putting in the work, following the strategy, and still not seeing consistent growth or sustainable success. I also explain why this happens, how your subconscious and nervous system play a role, and what needs to shift in order for your results to finally match the level you know you’re capable of.
If you’re ready to stop circling the same level and create new outcomes (higher income months, more authority in your industry, quantum leaps for your business), this is exactly the work we’re doing inside The Recalibration Room.

Welcome to the Expansion Edit Podcast, where if you hang around long enough, you'll learn that you can achieve anything by rewiring who you believe you are. I'm Chelsea, a licensed therapist, turned identity coach for the woman ready to create an extraordinary life and become the living manifestation of her vision board. Not through wishful thinking or fluffy affirmations, but through identity embodiment using proven techniques, rewiring protocols, and psychology-backed strategy grounded in neuroscience. Here we talk subconscious rewiring, nervous system safety, identity shifting, and manifestation in a way that expands your life from the inside out. So let's unlock your next level. So I would love to hear some feedback from you guys if you liked having a guest, if that's something that you want to see more of, if you like the solo episodes, like let me know what topics and formats you guys like because feedback is just really helpful for me to give you the best content that you are craving. So I enjoyed doing something a little bit different, and I think it would be really cool to have other guests on that could bring different perspectives to the work that we do here. So today we're gonna talk about something that feels very present right now. This is something that I have struggled with. It's something that a lot of my clients have struggled with at one point or another, and that is feeling like you're doing everything right, but your results are not matching how much effort and work that you're putting into your craft or your business or your talent or whatever it is that you're working on manifesting. So I see this all the time, like I said with my clients, and we're just gonna dive into this today and how we can shift this pattern because really at the end of the day, that's what it is, and you're gonna start to notice when I talk about this that there's actually lots of different areas in your life that this might be coming up. And this is something that comes up a lot for specifically high-achieving women, because you're already so good at what you do, and you're already really going above and beyond in so many ways. So to feel like you are doing everything and yet your results are maybe matching somebody else who is maybe putting in 80% effort or no, just not hitting the goals, whether that be income or expansion that you want to be seeing. And I also just want to say it doesn't really matter what industry, like I've seen this in coaching, content creation, authors, singers, actors, corporate, like it is the same pattern. You're so good at what you do, you're putting in the work, you're following the right strategy, and yet nothing is really changing. Like maybe you'll have a good month and maybe like an extra cool opportunity comes in, but that never becomes the new baseline. And that's because what you're doing externally in terms of your actions don't really matter if your internal standard has not shifted. Because your results are always going to reflect what your brain believes is normal, not what you're trying to achieve. So this is why I'm so big on normalizing to the subconscious. Because remember, your subconscious is always going to create what feels safe and familiar to it. And anything that deviates from that is a threat, not only to your subconscious, but to your identity in general. So if you're doing something that's way outside of your norm or you're trying for a big goal or going into a different field or career, your subconscious and your nervous system are gonna say, Whoa, no, this is like not familiar, this is not normal, like we are not letting this happen. Because remember, your brain wants to keep you safe. And anything that is not familiar that it doesn't know is unsafe and therefore a threat. Let's say you have a new income goal and it's significantly higher than what your income has been. Okay, if you keep creating and operating with the same beliefs that got you to your previous income goal, you're not gonna be able to create that new income goal because you're gonna keep creating the outcomes that are consistent with your identity that got you to where you are right now, unless you do something to expand on your identity. If you're sitting there going, oh, this is something I've never done before, this is new, we don't really know if it's gonna happen, your brain is gonna expect inconsistency and it will continue to filter for that using the reticular activating system. If success feels unfamiliar or unsafe at a certain level, again, if you're going for that bigger income goal, you're gonna unconsciously pull back right before you stabilize there because again, that is unfamiliar to your subconscious and it is outside your normal identity. And we can see this really clearly with money. So let's say you do meet that higher income goal. Let's say, you know, you make that income next month, but what you'll notice, and maybe you've already experienced this, at the same time as you're hitting this bigger income goal, you might notice that you have unexpected expenses show up, extra bills, something breaks, money is going right back out. And that is not random. It's literally your system trying to regulate back to what feels normal because subconsciously you're calibrated to a certain level of receiving. So anything that's far outside of that, even if it's a good thing, can feel unsafe. So then from the outside, it looks like I'm doing everything right. Why isn't this working? But internally, you're still operating from a past version of yourself, and your results will always match whatever version of yourself that you're operating from. It does not, it doesn't matter how much effort you're putting in or how hard you're trying, it matters what standard you're operating from, what you tolerate, what you normalize, what your system is calibrated to hold. So, in order to change the receiving and change what's normalized for you, you have to change the identity first. So if you can change the identity to be somebody who only tolerates that higher income and that that is your normal and that your system, your nervous system is also calibrated to hold that. Because remember, if your nervous system isn't calibrated to hold it, like you might get it one month, but then again, you're gonna shrink back to what's normal because you don't have the capacity to hold on to it. Um, I think I've talked about this example before, the bucket. Like if you have a one-gallon bucket, but you're trying to collect three gallons of water, you can collect more water, but it's just gonna run over the top. You have to expand your bucket first to be able to hold that increased amount. And this is why my clients see such quick results because they're already doing everything right. They're already putting in the effort and really specific and intentional about what they're doing. But it's the system that they're operating from. It's usually, you know, a fight or flight survival system that they're operating from. And what we do is we take them out of that state and normalize their identity to this higher standard that they want to operate from to see these higher results, higher income months, more capacity. And because they're already doing everything right, the change happens super fast because suddenly you have more capacity and you are operating from that higher standard. So all the things that you're doing are already in place for when you do that identity and nervous system regulation work that is so essential to helping you quantum leap in, you know, your talent or your business or whatever it is. And this is the work that, you know, I've done with my clients, but this is also what we're doing inside the recalibration room. So this is not, you know, just about what you're doing, because I guarantee if you're listening to this podcast, you're already doing everything right, but it's how you're operating at a foundational level so that your results can actually start to match the level that you know you're capable of and you move from that place. And it's so interesting about this work because it's like when I've had clients or even like with myself, it's kind of this realization of like, oh, oh, this doesn't have to be hard. Like, yes, it's hard work to have a business or to, you know, pursue something worthwhile, but it's not hard in the way of like you're constantly feeling anxious or stretched thin, or like, you know, is this gonna work, or this constant doubting or second guessing yourself. Like it doesn't have to be hard in that sense. Yes, the work that you're putting in is is work, but that the shift realization of like, oh, oh, this this can just be like fun and creative, and you know, I'm already really good at what I do, and having that knowledge and that certainty about what you're doing, that's where the difference is. And that's when you're able to move from that place of like, yes, I am really good at what I do, and the value I provide is really high, and you can move from that place. That's where quantum leaps literally happen because you're able to continue movement, which puts you into momentum, and once you're in momentum, it's just like things start clicking so quickly because you're not going back and forth second guessing like you were working from your previous identity. And something else with this too is I think there's such a common theme with high-performing women where you get into a field, you get into a career, you get into a business or a job or whatever it is, and you aren't so sure of yourself, and you may be second guessing because it's new and you're not, you know, super familiar with it. But then what happens is as you get more advanced and as you become more of an authority in your field, but yet you're still operating from that beginner version of yourself. And we forget to recalibrate this part of ourselves because you know, we're not that beginner anymore, right? Like you're not that person just out of high school or whatever it is, but we are still operating from that version of ourselves if we're not constantly re-evaluating. Is this how my future self would act? Is this where I want to be? Is this how I want to feel throughout my day? And if you can examine those things and upgrade those things subconsciously on a subconscious level, things change very quickly. So, enrollment for the recalibration room is open for another two weeks from today, from when this episode releases. So if you have questions on the program, feel free to reach out to me on TikTok or Instagram, or you can email me. I'll leave my email in the show notes as well.
