Welcome to the High Vibration Living Podcast. I'm your host, Chef Whitney Aronoff, health supportive chef, founder of Starsea Kitchen, and creator of nourishing food rooted in real ingredients, intuition, and intention. This podcast is a space where food, wellness, spirituality, and everyday living meet. We explore how what you eat, how you live, and what you believe all shape your energy, health, and overall sense of well-being. You have a physical body, a mental body, an emotional body, and a spiritual body. And all need to be recognized and nourished so you can feel balanced and truly thrive. Only you know what your body truly needs. Let this be your reminder that you already have the wisdom to tune in to your food, your self-care, and your spiritual practices and choose what supports you best. Through personal insights and conversations with experts across food, wellness, and spirituality, we'll explore how to nourish the physical, emotional, spiritual, and energetic layers of who you are so you can feel your best and live with clarity, vitality, and purpose. Let's get started. Today I'm joined by Sabrina Soto. Sabrina is an interior designer, television host, and wellness advocate who many people know from her work on HGDV and her recent series with Hulu. Over the years, she has built a beautiful career helping people transform their homes into spaces that not only look good, but feel good. What I love about Sabrina's work is that she looks at design through a deeper lens, understanding how the spaces we live in influence our mood, our energy, and our overall well-being. In today's conversations, we talk about the making of her Hulu series, the spiritual and wellness practices that are supporting her right now, what she's most passionate about in design and in life, and the wellness retreat she's currently planning in Los Angeles. Let's get into it. Cheers. Sabrina Soto, welcome to the High Vibration Living Podcast.
SPEAKER_00I am so excited to talk to you because obviously we haven't spoken since you were on my podcast, but just even now, I'm like, we have so much to discuss, so many places to go. Thank you for having me.
SPEAKER_02It's such a treat to talk to you because I so admire your career. I admire you as a businesswoman, and I admire the way that you keep sharing your evolution as a person from your career personally, like everything that you keep moving through, you share so other people can learn along the way. And I really admire and am grateful for that bravery to do that. You come across that it's really comfortable for you to share all sides with you. I'm curious. Well, have you met my mother? I'm curious if it is, or if there's some pep talk that you give yourself before you go on camera or before you go in front of your phone to share.
SPEAKER_00You know what? I had I'll tell you a story. I had this friend in high school, and I thought she was my best friend, and she never really shared anything of her life with me. Everything was really private, and I felt sort of like there wasn't a friendship there because I wasn't able to share with her. So I couldn't learn anything about what's happening in her life, and then I didn't feel like I could share in my life. And I remember there was just a disconnect with me and this girl. And in at such a young age, I realized the only way to connect with people is to share. And although it's hard to share sometimes on a public forum because you also get criticism, I have been, knock on wood, so lucky that everyone has sort of been on this road with me. So, you know, everyone's seen my journey. And I just feel like we're all in this together, especially as women, we're all in this together and we have to help each other out. And that means sharing the wins, but also sharing the times that you lose as well.
SPEAKER_02Well, one thing that I love that you did is, you know, you've built this career in regards to home and living and lifestyle. And you took that to a next the next level when you created your series for Netflix, which went kind of beyond just interior design or being in your home. It showed all the different ways that we can live in our home and then all the different ways that we can live in our physical home, you know.
SPEAKER_00Totally. Well, that's my passion. But yeah, first of all, it's the show's actually on Hulu and Disney Plus, uh, hopefully in Netflix soon. But it you could get it on Amazon too. But the Sabrina Soda shows everything that I've always been passionate about, but I haven't had the opportunity to talk about it because I was sort of, I don't want to say stuck, but put in a box of only home. And I wanted to create something that really showed all of the different things that I'm passionate about. So it's wellness, being a mom, fashion, beauty, exercise, food. Um, and you know, I'm sure when people watch the show, they think it's probably exciting and it's you always get to learn something, but people don't know that it took me 10 years of pitching that show to make it happen.
SPEAKER_02How did that opportunity ultimately come about? So you created the concept and you worked with your network to try to find a home for it over and over and over and over and over and over, just knows and yet not yet, or that's not the right fit now.
SPEAKER_00And just somehow it landed at the perfect time. You know, I still think that it's it's we're in such a weird time with social media and consuming content that everything has to be fast. And a lot of things are negative in the sense of like tabloid-y or fighting online. And I didn't want to create that. I wanted somewhere where women could go for 20-something minutes to learn something, to laugh, and to get a takeaway. Um, but again, yeah, it took forever, and now we're, thank goodness, working on ramping up season two.
SPEAKER_02That is so exciting. Congratulations. Thank you. So what has evolved with your interests since you filmed that first season that you want to share more in this coming season?
SPEAKER_00That it, you know, your the things that you surround yourself with change your life. And that could be what you're, and you know this more than anyone, like what you're eating, what you're consuming with your ears, what you're listening to, what you're watching, what you're drinking, what you're not drinking, who you're hanging out with. And I've realized it's, you know, in my own life, how sticking up for myself and making better choices and the micro choices, not the huge transformations, those tiny little changes every day have merged into this life that I'm really happy in and I'm really proud of. And I'm just happy to be um, you know, in a great relationship. And also I have the best daughter in the entire universe.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I'm so glad that you two have that connection and that foundation. Um, so it seems like you've like really built a beautiful family, but also a team. Um, and that's really unique. Yes.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, but I mean, it also if people have followed me for a while, I mean, I've been through it with relationships, unfortunately. And I also want to tell women and and show women that it's possible to find your happily ever after after the age of 45. You know, you don't have to give up. And it's not true that only, you know, the good ones are taken. And it's not true that you have to settle. And it's it's just it's when you start believing in yourself, everything falls into place. But the believing in yourself means being a person of your word with yourself. So if you're gonna start like stay, start a Monday to stop eating like processed foods, and Monday you get to work and somebody brings a big plate of, you know, these brownies that they've made out of a box, and you just told yourself you weren't gonna eat it. That little micro saying no to that, that my minor detail, it starts building up your self-esteem more and more and more.
SPEAKER_02So, what are some spiritual or wellness practices that you've integrated over the past year that are really supporting this kind of new iteration of yourself?
SPEAKER_00I love journaling and I love meditating. Do I do it every day? I wish. I'm gonna, I'd be lying if I said that because just some days, especially I was just telling you like I had surgery eight uh six weeks ago, and I had no idea it was gonna take me out. Like I was in a funk, and it's weird because when you're in a funk, you almost forget all of the tools that you know. And even if you do know them, you don't want to use them. It's like I wanted to do the opposite of everything that I know in my heart what I should have done. So was I journaling? No. Was I meditating? No. And finally, it's like I got sick of my own stuff. I was gonna say the curse word, but I got sick of being in that spot. And I'm like, girl, wake up and get yourself out of this. And then it's that the meditation I started doing breath work again. Now I'm journaling. I woke up this morning and I journaled. And it's like, you know, it's an ebb and flow. There's no such thing as perfection. And all these people that are on social media that say that they are live this perfect life every day are full of beep.
SPEAKER_02I would agree with you. And it's really interesting since we've moved into this new year. I always was able to find 15 minutes to meditate before I started my day, before I started breakfast, before I opened the laptop, before I started movement. For some reason, I wake up and I already feel the rush to go. I'm finding it harder and harder to take that minute to focus on myself, my spiritual practice, build up my day. It's it's I just have this fire that it needs to get done. And the next thing I know, it's dinner time. Um experiencing this? Are other people experiencing this? 100%. 100%. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00And then, you know, it's like those gurus like if you don't have two minutes, you gotta just shut up because I don't have two minutes. These, but then it's that's another thing. It's like we have to be gentle on ourselves. I am a Capricorn from New Jersey. There's no one who's gonna be tougher on me than me. But that it's okay if some days I don't get have time to meditate. And it's okay if I only have two minutes to meditate. And sometimes I'll go on like Insight Timer to see the shortest meditation that I could find, just so I could drop in even for a little bit of time. So be gentle with yourself. It might not have to be a daily practice, but you know, if you do find yourself in a funk, you know, try to find those little micro changes you can make to find your way back.
SPEAKER_02That's a great suggestion. And that's what I'm finding that I'm having to do so far this year is it's not an everyday practice anymore. There's these brief little moments where I get 10 minutes. Um, like when I go to physical therapy, when I go into the red light room, that's when I do the meditation. I just find these little minutes, these little moments, um, maybe once or twice or three times a week, and that's it. And it's gonna have to be okay for now.
SPEAKER_00That is. And look, that's like stacking. It's like if you're in the red light bed, great. That's the time to maybe don't listen to the murder podcast, you know? Maybe meditate instead. And and if you are a busy, you know, businesswoman or a mom or whomever, and you can't find the time that day, it's okay. You know, it's totally okay. Um, when I was in the funk, I called a friend of mine and I was telling her, I'm like, I don't even know who I am. Like I feel like I'm I can't get my out of my own way. And she was like, so then don't. So just she was like, so just stay in it for a minute until you feel better. I don't know what happened on that phone call. It all it's almost when somebody gave me permission that I wanted to then make the change. That I felt like when somebody said, you know what, just stay there. I was like, no. So also lean in on your community too, sometimes. But like the first thing you need to do is be gentle on yourself and and find the ways, like you just said, this the ways that you could stack habits to make it doable for your life.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I feel like there's a lot of tools that I like to keep in my house. I'm one of those people that I have to leave the tools out to see them on the counter in the corner of the room. So I pick them up once a day or every other day. What are some of the tools and the little like, you know, practices and items you're leaving around the house? So you get the reminder that, oh yes, I should do that today for myself because it makes me feel good.
SPEAKER_00I have next to my coffee in the morning, I have a really pretty glass bottle of these saffron pills that I take and they're like mood lifters. And so when I go to grab the coffee to make it, the pill's right there, I see it with my eyes. So I drink it with water while the coffee is being made. Then when I sit down, my my daughter is having breakfast in my dining or kitchen table. There's like a little sort of hideaway like drawer, and I have my journal there. It's like right there. That right I know when I sit down, it's right there, so it's easy for me to grab. And then at night for my night nighttime magnesium, I have these really beautiful, I just posted on Instagram, these spice jars that I have my vitamins in that are just pretty and they're out. They're out on the nightstand, so I don't have to like forget to take my magnesium. So it's what you just said, just making your life easier, but it can still be pretty. I still want things to be pretty.
SPEAKER_02Exactly. And that's what I've been looking at too is how can I kind of upgrade the kitchen counter, the area next to the couch, you know, the bathroom, the nightstand, where the tools are right there, but it still works with the beauty and the vibe that I want in my house. But because if it goes into if it goes into too many drawers, it's gone forever and it won't be top of mind anymore. A quick pause to share something I truly use and love. I'm Chef Whitney Aronaw. And as a personal chef, I began sharing my Starseed Kitchen Organic Spice Blends with private clients when I couldn't find high-quality seasonings that met my standards for their meal prep. My clients are people who care deeply about what goes into their food and how it makes them feel, just like you. Every Starseed Kitchen blend is made with the highest quality organic spices with no added sugar, no MSG, no anti-caking agents, and no fillers. Just clean, real ingredients that support your body and elevate your cooking. Two of my most loved blends are 11 Magic Herbs and Spices, a go-to everyday seasoning that works on just about everything, and Starseed Kitchen Adobo, a light, bright, anti-inflammatory blend designed for modern, health-supportive cooking. Every jar is prepared with intention, charged with kundalini mantras, quartzgiza crystals, and blessed by a shaman. Because spices and the food you prepare with them are not just nourishment, they're a transfer of energy. You can find Starseed Kitchen Spices at all Erawan locations or online at starseedkitchen.com. Use code Starseed for 10% off your online order. Now let's get back to the conversation.
SPEAKER_00Out of sight, out of mind, I am a I am the queen of decanting like shampoo conditioners into like pretty amber glass bottles. So everything just looks pretty. I mean, I know it's so it sounds foolish and small, but it's those little routines that I find kind of just what you were saying earlier. You may not find 10 minutes to meditate, but while I'm washing my face, it's almost like a meditative state that I put myself into. Because I have to do it anyways. I might as well make it more feeling like a ritual rather than a task.
SPEAKER_02I completely understand. I kind of use it now just because time seems to be condensing. I use it now as like my wind down routine. Whereas before it was just a part of my evening, it's really part of dimming the lights, getting ready for bed, slowing down, building the quiet so I can have a good night's sleep.
SPEAKER_00I would well what so wait, what are the things that you keep out? I'm now I'm I know it's your podcast, but I'm just curious what what are your things?
SPEAKER_02So on the kitchen counter, I keep all of my supplements and I have them in one on one side, and as I take them throughout the day, I move them to another side so I know they've been consumed because I take the same things every day, but the amount that I need to take depends on how I feel.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02So I have a system for the flow of them, and that's always on the kitchen counter. In my bathroom, I keep all my skincare routines, but I also keep kind of the little upgrades that I do. I like to put on the X-Wave patches when I sleep for building stem cells in my body. Are you familiar with those? No, but I'm gonna make you send me a link after we're done with this. So I every night put on a phototherapy sticker. It's like the size of a silver dollar coin, you know, a little larger than a quarter. And I stick it on different acupuncture points on my body, and it helps my body make more of its stem cells. And then there's another one that I like to do that helps my body clear fine lines and build up collagen. And so it does this while I'm sleeping using phototherapy, using the natural heat from my body. And I've noticed profound differences. So you can take a photo of yourself now, and then you can take a photo of yourself after three months of using this, and you look younger and more refreshed and more revitalized. So I've been a huge fan of this, and it's super helpful too for physical pain. So if I've overworked a body, exercised a little bit too much, I then just put that patch exactly where the pain is, and the pain will start to subside.
SPEAKER_00I will take any notes because I'm gonna be 50 at the end of this year. I'm like, I I wanna like reverse my aging backwards. I want to like take that picture of like this is 50 and feel really good.
SPEAKER_02So I'm a big fan of those, but I need to leave them out on the counter and in a little envelope. So I see them every evening after I wash my face, so I stick them on. If they are not out, if I don't see them, I'll forget to stick them on. So it's little things like that. I find that at this point I have to leave my dry brush out. So in the morning, I do take the minute to dry brush before I put on my clothes because if it's in the drawer, I'm just life has changed in a way where I'm moving so fast now. Before I could have pulled it out of the drawer, now it needs to be on the counter. It's it's interesting. And that just might be a season, but I leave it there. And then I do a bunch of little spiritual practices that I've learned from Dr. Lovery. And so I leave those tools right on my bedside table. Um, so there's a few little practices I do to set up my day so I have financial abundance and good luck and protection. And so I leave those items on my um bedside table. And then the last thing I do, I take this um this formula and I'll send it to you that is full of 75 different minerals. And I leave on my bathroom counter a small six out six-ounce glass of water and the droppers. And first thing in the morning, before I eat anything, before I do anything, I add those droppers to the water and I drink that water with all those minerals. And I do this so I have like thicker, healthier hair. It is the minerals that you need to essentially refill your system so you don't get gray hairs. What? Okay, just send me, just send me the whole lip. I'm a big fan of this dropper, so I'll share that with you.
SPEAKER_00And you're gonna have to put in the notes of your podcast because you know everybody's gonna want to know.
SPEAKER_02It's super helpful because all grain is is mineral deficiency. And so I didn't know that. Yeah, and so just like great healthy hair is mineral abundance. So if you have thick, long, healthy hair that still has its natural color, it's because you your body is filled with more than enough minerals and nutrients and vitamins than your body needs. So they're able to take the excess. Your body will naturally take all the excess that it doesn't need to keep the machine running, and it'll take it to your scalp and your hair, and the excess will flow there. So it's almost- I have no idea. Right? Our hair is almost like the mirror of our internal abundance.
SPEAKER_01Yay, for me. I mean, I'm I only have like one or two grays, so that I might be happy.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. So everything that you're putting in, if you're seeing on the outside this beauty, this flow, great coloring, then that means things are going well on the inside. The only time where you'll have challenges with that where it might not reflect properly, is and when you're in a position like me as a chef, if you're by a stove and an oven or a fire all the time, it will pull all the um all the moisture out of your hair and start to fry it. Girl, well, put your hair in a bun. I know. There was a time where I would just put it like in a bun with coconut oil, but then you start to feel so unfeminine. I know. Wearing your hair up every day, you know? No.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. No, I know. I know. And I want to spend a whole weekend with you. I just a whole day in life, I want to know what you're putting in your body, what you're eating, what you're drinking.
SPEAKER_02But I feel the same way about you because you just keep going and building and growing and evolving. And so I feel the same way about you. And I hope this is some of what you're gonna be sharing at the event that you're planning. Can you tell me more about that? I just heard you announce that on Instagram.
SPEAKER_00So I don't know when this podcast is gonna come out, but I have a mastermind. Um, it's free on March 21st. And then I'm uh putting together a retreat in May here in LA and one in fall on the East Coast. And it's going to be a half day for all busy women. To get together a community with other women that are, you know, interested in the same things. We're going to talk about how to make your home a tool to live your best life, how to manifest exactly what you want in your life, things that for wellness, we're going to have a little bit of breath work and movement. So just sort of like a little escape from our busy lives to just refuel our souls. And I think, you know, because I'm going to be 50 this year, I have been, and I've said, like I've been through a lot divorce, I've been through changes in my career ups and downs, lots of them. And I have found the I have found the things that work and I have found the things that don't. And I just want to share that with my community. So it's going to be inspiring and a lot of fun.
SPEAKER_02That sounds awesome. I'd love to know what's one or two things that people kept trying to tell you to do for your health or wellness, your career that really don't work.
SPEAKER_00Well, it's weird. Okay. So I guess in my 20s and 30s, a lot of it was I thought you had to network. And by networking, it was like a lot of events. And I am not really, I that's just not, I know I look like I like to do that stuff, but I am a homebody. I just would rather stay home. So I think I hustled so much in that. And unfortunately with that came a lot of alcohol consumption and things that just, as we know now, are not good for your health or your soul or your frequency. Um, so I think that having to sort of do the going out to make network and connections, it actually never worked for me. And that's not where I ended up creating success and getting those connections. Um, so people would tell me that, especially when I lived in New York, you have to go out, you have to go out. Well, I call BS. There's not a one size fits all for people, either with supplements or collagen or whatever. And right, like not everything fits with everyone. Like, as a matter of fact, you and I were talking about saffron. I love taking saffron. I feel it. My husband thinks that it's like you might as well take a sugar pill. So I feel like everyone's body is different. And I think what you need to do is yes, you can take inspiration from people that you admire online, but you have to figure out what really works for you and what makes you feel good. I love to hike. My best friend hates it every time she goes with me. She's like cursing me out the whole time. So what I find meditative, she finds to be a complete and like a horror show. So it's just about listening to your own body.
SPEAKER_02Are there any books that you're reading right now that are really supporting what you want to?
SPEAKER_00Wait, I'm gonna pan over so you can see. Look at my books. Oh my goodness. Some of them. Um, I am a huge reader, huge. Um, now listening to audiobooks. I don't watch television. Uh, so I'm either listening to an audiobook or reading. Is there, I mean, I have so many different books that I love. I just really love um listening or reading books about manifestation because The Secret, which was a documentary that was released in 2006, is what changed my life and changed like why I'm even on TV. And so I truly believe in the law of attraction. And so I, even though I've read probably every book on the subject, I still like to listen and read books on manifesting and you know, raising your frequency and how to be a magnetic person to the things that you want in your life.
SPEAKER_02It's a lot easier to imagine and feel what you want to create and then let it come to you than than trying to move towards it. My first spiritual teacher showed me a visual to help me understand what I was doing. And he he grabbed his fist and then took his other hand and made it flat. And basically, I'm trying to push against a wall and I'm trying to make things happen. And of course, like I can't move the wall. The more effort you put into something is not necessarily the way to success.
SPEAKER_00That's well, I was just listening to a teacher saying this yesterday. It was like, if hard work equaled financial abundance, every hard worker in this country would be rich. And that's obviously not the case. But because I was taught, you know, both of my parents are immigrants from Cuba, I was taught to be a hustler, like to work, work hard, really hard, stay late, get there early. The last 30 years I've been doing that and I'm exhausted. And now I I realize this year I want more ease. I want more flow. And weirdly, is now things are even just coming to me. An example of what just happened before we started this podcast. I was looking for help with something, and Whitney and I were talking, and all of a sudden she was like, Oh, I have the person for you. I didn't even, you know, it's like sometimes the universe will answer your prayers in the weirdest conversations. You just have to pay attention.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, absolutely. And this person's is you're gonna have fun.
SPEAKER_00But this will make their life easier. But isn't it weird that like the universe will always help you if you allow that flow into it? Instead of me getting online and being like, I need help. Does anyone know anyone? You know?
SPEAKER_02Yeah. I think that for me, the hardest thing is to ask for what I need and then it will appear. But if I don't use my words to ask for what I need, it won't give it to me. It's like I'm forced to vocalize my needs. But I'd love to know what's one of the lessons that you've learned from one of the manifestation books that you've read or from The Secret that you do apply that seems to work for you.
SPEAKER_00Visualization, creative visualization. I last year I started a book club on a whim because I was cleaning out my closet and I wrote, I came across this book called Creative Visualization that I did before I got my job on H E TV. And I found it was a workbook, and I could not believe when I was reading it that everything that I had written in this book came true. But wild. It was wild. So I asked if anybody wanted to do it with me last year, and I think I have like 1200 people who ended up joining this book club. But what I realized, it's like I think when people think of law of attraction, they're just like, okay, think of the red bike and the red bike of Pierce. That's not the way it works. It's mentally put yourself, you close your eyes and you put yourself in the situation you want to be in. And that feeling that you feel. So let's say I was single and I wanted to be married, I'd close my eyes, I'd think of myself with my husband. How do I feel? How is our relationship? I'd picture of us laughing. What am I wearing? What are the smells? Where are we sitting? If you could at least hold that vision for 17 seconds, I believe Esther Hicks says is like the starting point, it'll magnetize to you, you know, more and more. So even just that little practice of closing your eyes and feeling the feeling you would have when you get that desired outcome is what has completely worked like magic in my life.
SPEAKER_02How did it come about for you to create your book that you're gonna be sharing with the world this year?
SPEAKER_00Okay, so I was in hot yoga and I would always get to hot yoga early because there was it was my only quiet time as a busy mom to just sit by myself and meditate. So I would sit there in this hot room and meditate before anybody else got there, usually 10 minutes. And it was like I had this idea to create a self-help book that looked like a design book and it looked like it was about renovating a house, but it was about renovating your life. And but again, that was many years ago. And I pitched it to so many publishers and so many people passed because it was confusing. It was like, well, is it a self-help book or is it a design book? And I'm like, but it's both. But they're like, we don't, that's not how the book publishing works. And finally I found, you know, I didn't, I, I didn't stop because I knew I know that women are need this this message. So I found an agent who wouldn't stop with me. And we finally got an we not only got one offer, we got multiple offers by different publishers when the timing was right. And I think that's don't give, if you really believe in a project, I mean like really believe in it, don't give up. Don't give up just because you've gotten nose. I mean, if I gave up because you know my love life didn't work out, I wouldn't be so happily married now to like the most magnificent human I've ever met.
SPEAKER_02That's these are great tips. Um, one or can you share one or two books that you are reading right now?
SPEAKER_00Oh, okay. I'm uh Matt Cook, Beyond Wanting is a new one that I just got. Um he is like a manifestation teacher. Um, and then I love Tosha Silver. I'm like looking back at my book. I love Tosha Silver, Outrageous Openness. That's one of my favorite books. I love her teachings. She also has a book called It's Not About Money, I believe that's the name of it. And it sounds like it's a money book, but it's just about allowing. And I think that for me, and not everyone's the same, because I'm I've have this subconscious belief of pushing, pushing, pushing, and forcing that I need to be constantly reminded to let things flow into my life.
SPEAKER_02How do you slow down at the end of the day right now? So because you have so many things that you're creating, um, and you are so clear on what you want to be doing, how do you wind it down at the end of the day? Every night it's the exact same thing.
SPEAKER_00Okay. I watch the golden girls. Seriously? Swear. It's it's I I mean, my friends know it, but every single night I watch the golden girls. It's like my meditation. I put Olivia to sleep, we talk in her bed. When I hear her go to sleep, I go upstairs, I do my ritual, like washing my face, feeling, I get in bed, take a few deep breaths, and then I'm like, thank you for being a friend every single night.
SPEAKER_02That is so funny. And do you fall asleep with the TV on or do you ultimately turn it off?
SPEAKER_00No, I ended up turning it off, but it's it's thank God my husband is tolerant of it, but he knew when we were dating. I was like, if you're not okay with listening to the Golden Girls every night, I don't know if this is gonna work out. So have you watched every single episode? Many, multiple times. And I what come to find out that I think it's an anxiety thing that people say that when you watch the same thing over and over, it's like your body or your mind already knows how it's gonna end up. So it's almost soothing for you. So if anybody's listening who likes to watch the same programs, it's sort of like a self-soothing thing.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it's it's for some reason their voices. I bet it has something to do with their voices at this point, and the frequency of their voices is calming your nervous system.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I'm sure. And it reminds me of like my childhood with my grandmother and my mom playing it.
SPEAKER_02Exactly. And it's an older show, so those shows moved slower and were calmer than anything that you watch these days.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. So that's my that's my dirty little secret.
SPEAKER_02And then what do you make sure that you get done so you are focused and settled and clear before you walk out the door every morning?
SPEAKER_00I don't sometimes I don't walk out the door. I work out of my house. I mean, that's not true because I have to take Olivia to school, but there are days that I'm so busy that I don't leave the house, and that's not a good thing. Um, so I sometimes like I force my daughter to take walks with me around the neighborhood because I'm like, I have to get out of the house, poor thing. She's like, that's not my problem. But I I try to to ground myself. I mean, I try to have movement. I try to have movement since the surgery, I haven't been able to, and I think that actually attributed to my funk of just not having, I didn't realize how much my nervous system relied on movement to regulate, and not being able to move just got everything out of whack. But to-do lists um help me every single day. I'm a major pen and paper girl.
SPEAKER_01Me too.
SPEAKER_00And I have this, I'll show you. I have my system, it's not gonna work for everyone. But I got this like acrylic book holder.
SPEAKER_02Oh, I love that.
SPEAKER_00And I have it on my desk, and then I took cover paper and I cut it in half, and every day I write what I have to do, and it's it just sits there staring at like me while I'm working, and then I cross it off. So now every day it's like it's just my little tiny little whiteboard next to my monitor.
SPEAKER_02I absolutely love that because I'm a huge fan of writing down everything I need to get done the next day before I go to bed, so it's not torturing my mind. Yes. It allows me to sleep better. I am married to the old school um yellow pads and paper. So, like I'm a clipboard, yellow pad and paper.
SPEAKER_00The problem with our sending is I end up doodling then underneath it, and then it gets messy. So I like my to-do list just separate. Then I have my pad too. It's great.
SPEAKER_02See everyone's different. I know, but I really like your technique, and that also will move me into the space of having a really beautiful desk, which is like it can move me into the vision of the version of myself as an entrepreneur that I want to be living. Yes, Queen. You know, so I'm gonna pursue that. Thank you. That's a really good one. I I love this little thing. So just think about whatever comes to your mind. What is your favorite superfood? Dates. What's one of the most underrated food people should be eating for their health? Uh avocado. Is there a food everyone should be avoiding? No. Is there is there something in their kitchen that they should be avoiding?
SPEAKER_00To me, I feel like no, I don't I don't like people to have to feel like they shouldn't eat anything. Like, I mean, I know there's a big seed oil thing, but it's like, oh my god, I don't want people to freak out if a drop gets into something. It's like sometimes, you know, you it's better to just be calm about things than to be, you know, such a stickler. One supplement everyone should consider. For me, saffron, but um, I also vitamin, I like vitamin D drops. Um, and then for me, I like vitamin B too, but I I love vitamin D drops. I feel like it's the easiest way for me to take them. Best health habit you've added this year. These new electrolytes I'm obsessed with. Because I have uh tried every electrolyte and they're either too salty or just salt. It tastes like I'm drinking the ocean. So it's like this tiny little bit of electrolytes that I put in my my water bottle and I sip like four of these a day and lemon water.
SPEAKER_02I do love a good electrolyte mix. Um, sometimes it just hits the spot. And then a food, a food trend you think is wrong.
SPEAKER_00I think it's wrong when people are telling everyone to do the exact same thing, or like that people are following influencers that are, you know, if I'm 50 and this woman in Italy is 20 and she's telling, like, we're not the same. We don't have the same issues. I'm in perimenopause. So it's like I feel like everyone is different, and you can, you just have to listen to your own body. I think the only thing is wrong is if we're following, you know, everyone's advice instead of our own intuition.
SPEAKER_02I think discernment is key with what you're sharing, and then finding people that are around your age group that you can share, not just take advice from, but share advice with. Yes, it can be so supportive. And I hope that's what we're moving into with social media, with how we share the tools and the items that we use.
SPEAKER_00It's with a little bit more discernment, it's more of a conversation and it's under it's sad because a lot of people are using these filters and all or like some people are talking a big game about food and them changing and now they look better, but they're really on peptides and they're taking other things that they're not talking about. And then you at home feel frustrated because you don't you're taking the exact same thing they're taking, but they left a lot of things out and you're not getting the same results. And I just feel like that's why I think transparency is everything.
SPEAKER_02That's so true. And and one of the chefs on my culinary team here, they told me they're like, Can you just do an episode where you just share every supplement and tool you're using right now? Have you not done that yet? No, I haven't done that yet. I haven't done that for a while, and I need to because you know, it's been a lifetime of curation, you know.
SPEAKER_00Yes, it's wait. What food do you think that everyone has in their kitchen that they shouldn't have? I'm curious.
SPEAKER_02I mean, I don't I don't think anyone needs to have canola oil in their house. Okay. There's just no reason for that. And if you're gonna fry your food, I I'd rather I like to look at different cultures and history for those tools. And in Spain, they use um uh sunflower oil for that deep fry. So that's okay. And that and that's that's a lot better than canola.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, maybe maybe aspartame we shouldn't have.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, exactly. And like, you know, old school like equal and splenda and like things like that. Just like eat the real sugar, get the good stuff, enjoy it. Um so it's just like those ingredients, it just doesn't serve anybody except the people that are producing it for profit.
SPEAKER_00So you're the one who introduced me when you were on my podcast for raw milk. Oh, really? Yeah, I mean, I still haven't had it, nor am I.
SPEAKER_02So when you get together, I'm gonna bring you ice cream.
SPEAKER_00I make we have to spend a weekend together. We've gotta do a girl's like retreat and then maybe invite some people to come with us too.
SPEAKER_02Yes, because I make a raw milk ice cream. It's raw organic milk, raw organic cream, real vanilla bean, local honey, and a little redmond real salt or just high-quality salt. And it's just medicine. Like you take a few bites, and you know what? It's actually in traditional food and healing, if you have a little bit of honey or milk or cream before bed, it helps you sleep better at night. Right. And so a lot of times I make this ice cream and I have a lot of like family members in my life who like they want to stay over and they want that in the freezer because they'll eat it at like eight o'clock at night and it'll help them sleep. And it's just pure, it's brain food. Also, another tip is if you are struggling to sleep through the night, if you keep waking up at three or four in the morning, it has to do with your cortisol levels are spiking in the middle of the night. So if you have a spoonful of honey before you go to bed, it'll stop that from happening. And so a better way to have it is just like two or three spoonfuls of ice cream.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. I'm gonna try, I'm gonna try that honey thing because I have been waking up in the middle of the night. Yeah. But I thought I I still have to sleep sitting up because of the surgery. So that's like keeping me up all night. But nothing like a little blanch and rose that won't put me right back to bed. Have you done a castor oil pack? Not yet, but my somebody told me I have had bandages on until now. So I got the pack. So I'm gonna do that.
SPEAKER_02That will help you anytime I want to have a great night's sleep. Like I want to be lights out. I do a castor oil pack in the evening. So you put it on, you watch your golden girls for 45 minutes to an hour, you take it off, you go to bed, and it's you'll have a deep sleep.
SPEAKER_00I love it. Oh my god. Yeah, I'm gonna start doing it. My my friend who does soup cleanses told me, but I haven't been, I haven't been allowed to put it on until now.
SPEAKER_02So yeah. And now once you have it, you'll use it all the time. And if you can add a heating pad to it, some sort of heating element, that just the oil penetrates so much more and it'll just lull you to sleep faster.
SPEAKER_00And you put it on your right side, right?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, you put it over your liver. Uh right under your right boob. Okay.
SPEAKER_00Okay. And my right boob's higher that now.
SPEAKER_01That's that's great because there's a little bit of space. So the oil won't get on anything.
SPEAKER_00Oh my God. Thank you so much for having me. I we need to do this more often.
SPEAKER_02Absolutely. And that like now I'm like looking around my house. There's so many tools that I want to bring for you to experience one evening. We need to bring the raw milk ice cream. I want to bring the compression bags for you. Like there's different little things that I would love for you and our friends to experience that I've just collected in different places that are it's just part of feeling well.
SPEAKER_00Yes. It's all we're trying to do is to feel our best. Yeah. To look our best, obviously, but more importantly, to feel our best because now, after I know that health is wealth, and without it, you know, like just life is so much more difficult. So it's an every time I buy something for my health, like a supplement or some sort, I'm like, this is an investment in my future.
SPEAKER_02Absolutely. And it will pay you back in different. Dividends. So absolutely. It's like getting my hair colored, buying supplements, anything that I'm doing for my physical body is priority number one. The accessories outside of that are just bonuses. Right. But like this is this is it for now.
SPEAKER_00This is it for now. Um, okay, don't forget to send me everything. And if anybody's listening, um, I you could always send me a DM. I really read them myself and I reply myself. So I love hearing from everyone. So if anybody has any, if they want to reach out, I'd love to hear from your listeners. When should we be looking for announcements regarding your book? So it the publish the publishing date um is January 5th, 2027. So we have some time, but pre-orders will start like six months before. And it's called the home, it's called the home within. Okay.
SPEAKER_02And then where should we be watching and listening and being ready to sign up for your wellness events in LA and on the East Coast?
SPEAKER_00So if you go to SabrinaSoto.com, you could see you'll go to gather and have all the information. And then you could always reach out to me on Instagram as well.
SPEAKER_02Okay, perfect. And then where's the best place for people to just to keep learning from you and connecting with you?
SPEAKER_00My newsletter, sign up for my newsletter. I have two. I have a general newsletter about everything going on, but I also have this really fun newsletter called Soto Finds, and it's my bi-weekly of everything that I'm currently obsessed with. And then I used to have a show called The Hilo Project on Hilo um on HGTV. So I do like the Hilo comparisons, but also supplements that I'm into, or you know, maybe like a shirt that I found at Target that's a must-have. So I always find, you know, share my fun stuff.
SPEAKER_02Then that I have to ask you before we go, what are some places that you love shopping right now in your neighborhood for home goods? Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_00Well, gosh, for home goods. I love a few, I live in LA. So there's like a few little garden shops. Um, one's Greenwood, also Wild Flora. And then there's another place called Serendipity. They're just like cute little gift shops, but I love buying stuff on Etsy because I feel like it's a gift shop online. But don't get me wrong, I still get stuff on Target and I still buy stuff on Amazon. Um, I used to buy stuff on Timu, but not anymore. Um, but I I, you know, I am a high low girl. Zara Home also has some pretty cool stuff.
SPEAKER_02Okay, perfect. Thank you for the tips. And uh can you leave the listener maybe la one last health or wellness or spiritual tip they can consider adding in their life?
SPEAKER_00If you have no like zero time for anything, take a few deep breaths just right now. That's it. Your your whole path to like calming your nervous system is through breath. So just remember to breathe. Thank you. Sabrina, I love you so much.
SPEAKER_02I can't wait to hang out with you. You've really been like just the absolute best. And I just love seeing you shine in everything that you're creating. So we'll check soon definitely.
