SPEAKER_02

Listen, it's it's it's champion listen it's championship week and uh almost the culmination of all the championships for section one. But coach, New York Knicks basketball. You got something to say? Yeah, I d yes I do.

SPEAKER_01

I um they've got a shot to win it. I didn't think they did. After game one, I thought they were more physical, I thought they were the tougher team, I thought they played harder, I thought they were uh just grittier, just grittier. And when you have Jalen Brunson, who um quite frankly should have been first team all NBA as your closer, I love the ball movement. I thought they did a great job on Wembin Yama uh limiting his uh looks. I mean, Kat was a beast out there. Yeah, he was out, he was outstanding. Cat was a beast. He was outstanding. And um, you know, OG, they they they all contributed. Um Landry continues to shoot the ball at a very um high efficient rate, uh highly efficient rate.

SPEAKER_02

Listen, I'm just glad that just because you know you you were born in Somerville, uh, South Carolina, your New York roots are coming back to being the Knicks fan that you really are.

SPEAKER_01

Okay. All right I wouldn't say that, but I'll I'll say it this way, John Claudio, I'll say it this way. Um they have a real shot to pull off the biggest upset since the Detroit Pistons and um Hamilton, Wallace, and Coach Larry Brown beat the Lakers in five games, and they beat Kobe and they beat Shaq in five and you know four to one.

SPEAKER_02

That was a great series.

SPEAKER_01

Great series and one of the biggest upsets in NBA history. They've got a chance to have that um Piston-esque championship run right now. Big game tonight. Uh I would expect San Antonio to be different, but I don't know. I just it's they're young. San Antonio's backcourt, they're very young. I mean, they're that team is young. I mean, Harper's 20 years old. Yeah, and and Castle's what, 23?

SPEAKER_02

And so we're interviewing 18-year-olds this last these last five days.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, and and so they're not they're not much older than the kids that we've interviewed. So I listen, they win tonight.

SPEAKER_02

When, coach? When they win tonight. Listen, okay, when I don't mean to correct your vernacular because you are much smarter than me and you were the wordsmith master. But in this case, coach, it's when when when they win tonight. When they win tonight. Say it out loud.

SPEAKER_01

When they win. So to our viewers, when they win tonight, they should lock this up. It should be over because if they put it on San Antonio tonight, 2-0, and those young kids gotta come into Masses Square Garden, and that place will be it will, it will be as electric as it's ever been, it's gonna be very difficult for the Spurs.

SPEAKER_02

I will admit there's still a debate between me and my sons because I do have tickets to game four.

SPEAKER_01

And I told you what you needed to do. What was that? If you have multiple opportunities to go.

SPEAKER_02

I only got one. Only one. Let's let's let's frame it, frame the facts. I have one game to go do. And and where are those tickets again? Uh, section 116, row 16. They're good, they're great seats. And those seats are now going for $45,000, $50,000 a pop. No, right now they're about $23,000 including fees, so probably about $20,000.

SPEAKER_01

$20,000 for that seat.

SPEAKER_02

Yep. I can tell you what I would do with that. I can tell you what I'm leaning towards, but my the debate with my boys, my boys are talking about once in a lifetime, dad. Yeah, it it it is. It's the third time in my lifetime that the Knicks have been in the finals. Not with tickets, not with tickets. Good point, Claudio. You couldn't hear that behind the mic, good point. Absolutely. Not with tickets.

SPEAKER_01

Not with tickets. And that ticket alone would would fetch a handsome uh uh a handsome fee.

SPEAKER_02

All right, so coach, before we start the show officially, if it is close out, game four, if the Knicks are up three, well it'd be hard to sell that ticket.

SPEAKER_01

I'm not gonna lie, we're gonna see how it goes. Okay, it would be very difficult to sell that ticket because you're looking at something that would it will take place for the first time in 53 years. And and and I and I remember that series distinctly because you know we didn't have cable. We had ABC, and I was nine years old and watched them when win the whole thing. Tape delay. ABC tape delay. Might have been. I don't know if it was tape delay because I think it was like a Sunday after. But it but if it was later.

SPEAKER_02

It was tape delay. We the NBA didn't start doing live finals till after Magic Johnson.

SPEAKER_01

No, they went tape delay for a while. Yeah. But I don't, I think when Keith Jackson and oh my gosh, the guy who did color commentary, whether it was Bill Russell or oh boy, oh boy. Well, we don't have to worry about that, okay? Anyway, yeah. So anyway, that would those were live because those were normally on the weekend.

SPEAKER_02

But I will tell you that uh you heard me say it a lot. This is why we play the game, and we will decide. Uh, I will decide uh next Wednesday whether or not uh I'll be at that game, and I'll share that with everybody so this way you could uh say it was the right decision or the wrong decision on what we should do with these tickets. Either way, let's go, Knicks, and let's kick off the show. Welcome back to the Winning Moments Championship edition. I'm live in studio now with Coach Chris Ward, one of our co-hosts. The other co-host is on the field running around, maybe playing golf. You never know where Kevin Devaney Jr. is, but he is the hardest working man in Section One. Do you know?

SPEAKER_01

No doubt. No doubt. Um, you know, I'm sure he's getting ready for this weekend as well for the state uh playoffs and who's left, and we're gonna talk about that. You got regionals, you do the con ed dinner. He's got the high school. I swear he's gotta have he's gotta have a twin. Posting the con ed dinner. I mean he's gotta have a twin. I think he has a twin. He's he's and then plus he's gotta be a father and uh to um three beautiful children and who are all playing sports this weekend.

SPEAKER_02

I don't know the schedule, but I'm sure like you, and is he running around like crazy with 10, 15 games?

SPEAKER_01

May also be a husband to his lovely, beautiful wife, Donna. So I you know what it's he's got a lot going on. He does, he's got a lot of going on. I I don't I couldn't I couldn't do what he does. We'll give him a we'll give him a day off today. That's good. And it well, we'll we'll see him.

SPEAKER_02

But he'll be back. He's gonna be back soon. He will be, he will be. But in in his absence, we will carry this right now. This show is all about Section One Championships. Uh, we're filming Friday. There's actually still more championships going on that we won't be covering uh, unfortunately, for the track and field. We wish all you guys the best of luck. Absolutely. Uh we'll get the results after this show. Please remember, parents, you can go to the winningmoments.com and upload highlights for the track meets. Please do that uh as much as you can. We're happy to share across all of our social medias so we can do that for your case.

SPEAKER_01

And for track and field, beautiful weather right now in the 80s, you know, uh particularly for the sprinters and and and and the uh and the track people. I mean, we we should have some great times, we should have some great jumps. Um you know, javelins should be good, shot puts should be good as well, everybody's arms are loose and shoulders are loose, and um, I'm excited about what kind of um what kind of distances we see, what kind of uh times we see, and what you know what kind of throws we see.

SPEAKER_02

Coach, if we had a run a 400 meter, which is one way around the entire track, me, you, Kevin, and Claudia, who's coming in first? It ain't me.

SPEAKER_01

It's probably you. Probably you or Kevin. I mean, yeah, I yeah, we ain't no. I ain't uh I'll now I'll get I'll run through 400 meters, but at my but but at my pace. In your new balance, yeah?

SPEAKER_02

Yes, yeah. You'll come it there, you'll come in there, all right? In your new balance, gear. Well, listen, we're gonna we're gonna do a little rewind here. Yes, I think. Speaking about weather.

SPEAKER_01

And today's June 5th, by the way, we want to tell people it's June 5th. This is our June 5th show.

SPEAKER_02

Yes, because people don't know that it's June 5th when we say Friday and film on Sunday. But uh, I didn't even know it was June 5th today, actually, in that scenario. I thought it was like a holiday all of a sudden, like a Cinco de Mayo, okay? Cinco de. How do you say June Clover? Junio. Juno. Ah, okay, there we go. So we're gonna go backwards. We're gonna start off with girls' flag football. Yes, that we covered the first championship we covered here. Yes, we did on behalf of Section One and the winning moments. The weather was not this beautiful at all. No, it wasn't. Okay. Uh, it was freezing, it was raining, it was relentless, okay, all day long. But we had some great games. I mean, this this kicked off championship season. We had uh we had some upsets here because uh you guys, you guys, of course, because uh I didn't vote, but you guys.

SPEAKER_01

We did, we picked Scarsdale.

SPEAKER_02

All right, pick Scarsdale to uh to win this game, uh the first game of class A. But the Marinac Tigers, which I think uh that was their sixth chip that they had won at that particular time.

SPEAKER_01

It's amazing what's going on over there right off the long island.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, when we get off this, when we get off this list, sir.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, they're they're that's we're gonna we're gonna talk about them.

SPEAKER_02

They got a free-to-lay factory over there, just making chips making chips all day long.

SPEAKER_01

That's it, producing chips all over the place.

SPEAKER_02

So we got Marinac beating Scarsdale, 13-7 score. We got Yorktown beating Tappensee, which again was another upset, 18 to 14, and then the Westlake uh Briarcliffe team who beat Byram Hills. I mean, it was a 55-6. Well, we we knew that we talked about that was an uphill buyer.

SPEAKER_01

That was an uphill buyer for Byron Hills. They're she has so young, and um, you know, we don't want to get ahead of schedule, but it but Westlake proved why they won the you know won the section uh just recently. So we don't want to get ahead of ourselves.

SPEAKER_02

But let's talk about it. Let's let's talk about the Girls Flag Football. Let's talk about that day. Uh our show has already been up for Girls Flag Football. You can watch that show.

SPEAKER_01

It was fantastic. I was great. I enjoyed it. Great atmosphere. It was great atmosphere. I think they had for the weather being as bad as it was, the attendance was still pretty good, and the people that were there were vocal for their schools. It was it was fantastic. Um I I you know, I listen, Anthony Vitti breaks, you know, breaks the uh is the first man ever, or for excuse me, first coach ever, first person ever to win a tackle football section championship and a flag football uh championship. Yeah, but that that only that only lasted one and a half lasted an hour and a half until Mike Rossigno did it with Yorktown. And um, and you know, and he's also had one section championship, tackle football. Now, and then he breaks the record an hour. An hour and a half later, like we talked about. And um speaking to like uh Kevin's point, tackle football coaches doing flag football, it's a game change. It really is. It's an unfair advantage, unfair advantage. Kevin spoke about that, and I and I I concur with him, and I mean, um, and then you know, Lowell Robinson and and Anthony Sardo win it at Westlake and kind of they co-coach, but Lowell's the head coach per se, and and Anthony was with them. And um, those guys have been coaching tackle football for a long time as well.

SPEAKER_02

And right, but I mean, listen, let's let's be fair. All right, the Westlake team has an advantage. When you got uh, which I I love, I love I love her nickname. I love her nickname. When you got Juju out there, Juju, Juju, she's she's like a she's like on a joystick. You might as well be like playing Madden.

SPEAKER_01

She's she's it's it's ridiculous how fast she is and how quick she is. And like we talked about Barry Sanders of Section World. She got the burst like Barry Sanders. That's a great analogy. Uh very, yeah, very much so. Barry Sanders. And I and I'm gonna say that I want to backtrack a little bit, John. Yorktown Tap and Z. That was an outstanding game. And and I, you know, when you looked at them both warm up, they were both mirror images of each other athletically. It wasn't like there was a miss a mismatch athletically. Like I, you know, I thought there were I thought that Mamarinick, after I saw the warm-up, had an edge on Scarsdale athletically. Their swagger was was Yeah, they're and and I thought they just had more athletes per se. And that's no knock on Scarsdale. Those kids played their tails off.

SPEAKER_00

Yep.

SPEAKER_01

And um, and you know, Leah Brown was fantastic, and um the quarterback for them, oh my goodness, Reese Newman was great. But I just thought Merick had a little bit more athleticism and it and it showed when it needed to. And um Yorktown defensively did some job on um on Girardi.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, Eve Girardi was listen, did she have some moments and she makes some plays? Yeah, yes, but did she go off like she normally does? No, the defense was great, and they said they remember if they said to us um that I mean, Michael Signo said to us they won the seven best, fastest kids on on the field with regard to keeping her um contained.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, listen, first two games were about the linebackers the Marinax linebacker, yeah, uh Sarah Sherman. She was fantastic. Right, she she was absolutely fantastic in that scenario. Uh, then you had the Yorktown linebacker, uh, number 24, I believe. Uh Solis.

SPEAKER_01

Sydney Solis. She was she was ridiculous. I mean, we saw the two best defensive players in the section just absolutely dominate, and there are big reasons why they won. And then, you know, the young lady, Sophia Marcello, sophomore throwing, you know, corner routes on the sideline.

SPEAKER_02

Dimes, dimes in the ring. Okay. We don't have all those highlights, but dimes in the ring.

SPEAKER_01

Corner outside tiptoes. I mean, you didn't expect that at all. No, no, no, no. Duffy made a couple of those catches. Eve Monaco, he that play call for the first touchdown, that micro signal when those guys saw uh Sarrar, Bronze, Nardone, uh, Danielle Stabil, um that play call, she was wide open down the middle. So they ran stuff out wide. They saw some where they were cheating out wide, and they hit her right. I mean, she put it right on the money. So listen, it was great. Weather was not great, but the but to see those girls compete and the and the and the athleticism that they have was extremely impressive. And still to be able to play at relatively a high level in those in vi in that environment, in those uh weather conditions was extremely impressive.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, it was very impressive. Uh listen, our next week's show is all about girls' flag football and talking about what the NCAA is doing. Division. Division, right? Division one sports. I'm looking forward to seeing uh which young lady around this country is gonna make the first million dollar ILT flag football.

SPEAKER_01

We've talked about that off air.

SPEAKER_02

Um we're not gonna talk about it today. We'll talk about it today. We'll talk about we'll talk about it when we uh we have the show next week, dedicated to the fastest growing sport in America, girls' flag football. I mean, listen, if you could pay someone 1.2 million for pickleball, professional pickleball, that's what the number one player would get.

SPEAKER_01

That's amazing. Uh pickleball's crazy. I can't. I they I've got so they have major league pickleball. Yeah. I've got it on FIOS, my cable. And um and they pack the place. That like there'd be there's like 400 seats in these in these little venues at these pickleball things, and they pack it 400, 500,000 people. They're showing up for pickleball. It's it's amazing.

SPEAKER_02

It's the new bowling. It's the new bowling. Bowling back in the day, you know, where you could go. Bro Anthony's the new bowling. It's the new uh the healthier version of uh bowling. Oh, yes, okay. All right, so listen, let's move on to uh baseball. Oh man. Five days in a row, uh I want to give a shout out to our entire team, our interns. Uh we got Claudio who we got Claudio who who who runs all of our production. You can't see him on screen right now. He doesn't always like to be on the screen. We're gonna get him on screen this summer when we start doing uh uh some off shoots of the sports show here. He agreed to come on and sit on this side of the table with us, coach.

SPEAKER_01

And he's got a remarkable story of his own. And I don't want to give away anything else, but I mean superstar athlete, class sec section one athlete. Yes, but his but a college player. Yes, he was. But and get but his life and the and where where he grew up and where he went to when the reasons why he lived in certain parts of the world for certain reasons, it's a fascinating story, and I think our viewership was gonna love listening to him and I totally agree.

SPEAKER_02

From the beach to the ice rink. You better believe it. He uh he covered he made he made sure that we were uh we were always always filming, always getting us this these edits, always putting us out there, make sure we could promote the kids. So a big shout out to him. Absolutely our interns, okay? Uh Lewis, Louis Lavazio. Oh, this young man, he was all over the place, all over the fields. Big shout out to him, Ariana. She was also great, Juliana. Uh, who am I missing here? Who am I missing? Kendall, Sebastian.

SPEAKER_01

Kendall Sebastian, I was about to say.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, Kevin, me, you. It was five grueling days in a row to make sure that we covered all the kids. We enjoy it so much what we do. Baseball, though.

SPEAKER_01

Baseball was high drama in North Rockland. If you, if you are no, no, no. High drama.

SPEAKER_02

If you are a fan, if you are a fan of baseball, if you're a fan of high school sports, if you are a parent of these kids. Oh man. This might have been the best, this is historic. The best Section One baseball championship tournament from ever.

SPEAKER_01

From AAA down to C. Ever. No doubt about it. And and I'm gonna I'm gonna speak to this, to that point. John, when I first got here 20 something years ago, baseball was not particularly good here. There were teams that were good, there were individual players that were really good, but it it but in the last 10 years, 15 years, because of the of the private instruction, plus the high school coaches getting better, um, plus more kids from the Northeast and our area putting time in baseball. Baseball now is pretty doggone solid in section one.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, if there was a ratings, you know, you would not have thought that base listen, I think it was the first time in 10 plus years that they had a full day two. Uh day two, we almost had we almost had five games to cover instead of the four. Right. I mean, high drama, upsets, close games. Well, I believe only one team, only one team actually won out. So for the viewers who don't don't know, baseball is a double elimination championship sport. Once you get to the semifinals, the final four double elimination. Double elimination. And every game here, every team here, all of the I don't even want to call them favorites. But all all of the favorites only because they were undefeated.

unknown

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

Or they or b based on what we thought about their record, strength, the schedule, yeah, not even our opinions.

SPEAKER_02

But basically they only had to win one game. Let's put it that way. Yeah, yeah, oh, yeah. All the teams that only had to win win. Right. Yes, yes. So they're they you gotta give them the edge of they're the favorites. They only gotta win one game instead of winning two. I believe, if I'm not mistaken, the only team that closed out, that only played one game to win was Byron. Unreal. I think it was Byron. I think Byron was the only team in 16 innings. They played 16 innings and they squeezed out a 4-3 win. I believe they were the only team all weekend long that won the one game. Everybody else had to play two.

SPEAKER_01

I I I I want I mean, sixteen innings is the equivalent to playing 20 innings in Major League Baseball or college baseball. Because it'd be seven inning game, right? Yeah. Plus times two, fourteen, plus two is sixteen. So those kids. Basically, the equivalent of a 20 inning Major League Baseball game. Did your wife teach you that math? Was it Lisa that did that, the teacher in the house?

SPEAKER_02

Or do you just know that on the math?

SPEAKER_01

That was good? Yeah, she too good. She tutored me and told me that how to do equivalent to seven plus seven plus two? Yeah. I like it, coach. That was great. That was great on the spot. That's not new math. That's old math. So there you go. And so, no, but um, you know, listen, high drama. Oh man. Byron, Pleasantville, nobody wanted to lose that game. 16 innings. I don't did Kevin say, and I I I've I would not, of course, I'd probably put him on the spot. That's gotta be probably one of the longest games in Section 1 history, if not the longest game in Section One history. Kevin's not even here. Claudio, and putting him on the spot. I'm asking. He's trying to ask Kevin a question. Trying to ask Kevin a question in absentia. In his absentia. Oh man. Kevin, where are you, Kevin? Kevin. It's gotta be, it's gotta be. Get Kevin on FaceTime, Claudio. It's gotta be, it's gotta be close to it's gotta be a section one record. 16 innings. I mean 16 innings. It's unheard of. It's unheard of. Okay. And either team wanted to go home. Credit to both teams, credit to the coaching staff, credit to those pitchers. I mean, I I'm sure they were on fumes. It had to be on fumes.

SPEAKER_02

We'll we'll we'll talk about we'll we'll talk about the day, right? Because that that day really was was insane. But let's let's start really quick.

SPEAKER_01

And then and then, you know, listen, Tuckahoe, LaFell. Everybody would I'm going right to Tucko LaFell right now. Everybody wanted us to, and I said I thought that uh um Tucho would breeze through. Laffell had other plans. They must have listened to the podcast because they weren't having it. No, they won the first game of the series.

SPEAKER_02

They're the only ones that didn't play on Saturday because they played Thursday night. Yep. Okay, because they observed the Sabbath. Thursday night. Thursday night, uh, they play. LaFell comes out and and just dominant performance five to two. Dominant performance on Thursday night. Then they come back on Sunday, okay? And talk about a slug fest. Drama. Drama. That that also went eight innings.

SPEAKER_01

Eight innings. That's that Tucko hold up. No, that was a that's the game three. The number the game number two was a game. Tucko won. Yes. But it was a but it was a slug fest drama. Yes. One would go up eight, five. Tucko had some huge lead, and Lafelle came back and tied the thing at nine all or something like that. And then won 15 to 9 going away. Yes. And then you're right. It was Tuesday, Thursday, Tuesday, Sunday. And then and then you go to then you go to the the winner take all.

SPEAKER_02

Winner take all. Sunday. Winner take all on Sunday. Okay. And LaFelle showed up again. Eight innings. They tied it in the seventh, I believe, uh, to go to extra innings, tied in seventh for extra innings. Yes, they did. Uh at 4-3. I mean, that series, that series where you were right, the the Tuckahoe was the favorite to win. Going into it, decided favorite. But a shout-out to the Lafelle boys. They no one told them that they were underdogs. No one told them that they were gonna get steamrolled over because they didn't get steamrolled over at all. Those boys play their heart out. Uh unfortunately, somebody has to win the game. But it was it was fun to watch them. And and a big shout-out to you guys.

SPEAKER_01

They got a freshman at Lafell named Micah Schreiber who had some big hits in that series. He's only a freshman. Clutch. Clutch hits. Clutch. And he had them against Connor Bryce and some of their better pitchers in our section. And that young man, um, you know, we got we're we're gonna keep an eye out on him. He's on our radar now already. And for him to step into that situation and be the guy at 14 years of age in the section uh uh final, you know, best of three, he's gonna be, he's gonna be, he we're gonna be talking about him for a while.

SPEAKER_02

And and let's not mention that if you've never been to North Rockland High School, uh, you'll see it on our show when we put out the shows. These kids have to not only play in a section championship and have that kind of pressure as 14 years old, but they're playing with a crowd that is not normal across all of the of the fields because you have a grandstand behind you. So you have home plate, you have a grandstand behind you. What a great then on first and second base, you have the the bleachers with the mobbed typical bleachers. Then on top of that, okay, you have people that are in the outfields, lining the outfield wall.

SPEAKER_01

So I mean, you know, if you're the weather, the weather was fantastic, and the attendance was stunning. And for class C, the place was packed.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, listen, another okay, so Saturday, Saturday, we'll we're gonna come back to we'll go this way now for Saturday. Saturday, okay, where Tucker Hole and Lafell didn't play. Uh, they would have been there forever. Saturday, probably the longest day in championship history history. Last game, okay, which we we won't start with the last game, but the last game, the first pitch was 10 p.m. Okay, but that day was set up by some of the best baseball that that that you could watch.

SPEAKER_01

I mean like I said, the baseball and this the evolution of baseball in our area has been tremendous. The improvement is is very, very impressive.

SPEAKER_02

You got Mamaranak and Ketchum. I mean Okay, who Mamaranak was was supposed to win this game on Saturday. All right. Well, we picked some of us didn't pick Mamarinak. I know, I know, but but I'm I'm going I'm going by I'm going by like again, they only had to win one. They were favorites to win this game. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. Uh RC Ketchum was like, listen, we're not, we're not here to go home.

SPEAKER_01

We're not not with that, not with Coach Mealy.

SPEAKER_02

No.

SPEAKER_01

No, no, no. Not with that baseball program being what it's been over the last 10, 12 years.

SPEAKER_02

I went to high school with one of the dads, Jeff Bergman, and uh his son uh little Bergman there, I think he's the second baseman for RC Catchem. And we're in the stance, and he's like, uh, yeah, man, I'll see you tomorrow. In the beginning of the game, right? I'm like, hey Jeff man, good to see you. Haven't seen each other in like 10 years. He's like, that's not a problem. I love this. I get to see you in two days in a row. And right away it didn't hit me at first. I was like, okay. These boys came to play. Right. The fans came to play. They were not, they they knew they had two games in them.

SPEAKER_01

And quality defense, quality pitching in these, in these games. And then, you know, Plunkett, I ironically, Will Plunkett starts the double play to to uh to end the game and and give Amerinick. Oh, now you're talking about the championship.

SPEAKER_02

So yes, okay, so so we could we'll do that. Let's go from Saturday, okay. RC catch him is as we're not my buddy Jeff tell me he's gonna see me tomorrow.

SPEAKER_00

Yep.

SPEAKER_02

Then you go to Sunday, okay, where the play you just spoke about, there was uh Chuan one out, bottom of the seventh, seventh, bottom of the seventh, yeah. I think it was the bottom of the bottom of seventh.

SPEAKER_01

And it wasn't like a a shot, it wasn't like a uh like a hundred mile an hour ground ball right at. I mean, it was a root, it was a ground ball. It was a ground ball he it was playable, but it wasn't like I mean, he was he was here and then he was there. And the second baseman, my mind fails me with regard the turn on the on at two, the second baseman with the hands coming across and making that throw and and hitting with quick hands, and and they get him by two. You learned that with the egg. Absolutely. There's there's there's an egg in that training. Absolutely, and and um to end it, and of course, Plunk it to start the double play. What what how um how ironic, right?

SPEAKER_02

I mean, let's talk about this for a second because we were there, the stands are are roaring. Absolutely. RC catch them is they're in the middle of a rally, it's first and second, one out, okay. Uh they're hitting, hitting the bats, and they're they're feeling the confidence. When I was in the grandstands, they're feeling the confidence of what's going on.

SPEAKER_01

And when that double play, they at this point think they're gonna at least tie the game, tie the game X.

SPEAKER_02

That double play, you you just took the entire air like popping a balloon. You all of a sudden you couldn't even hear if the thickness from the RC catch them families and everything to the celebration of Maronek was it almost it almost subdued the celebration.

SPEAKER_01

That's how that's how you had where the air the air went out of the out of the building for knocking down our taps there. The air went out of the off the out of the out of the diamond for one, and the place erupted for the other team.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, that was their seventh. Uh so hard. Seventh. I think I I think that was their seventh.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, we'll we'll we'll get to that in a second, too. But a credit to them. And you know, listen, catch them will be Ketchum will be back, and um, let's move on. I mean, catch him's a baseball town now. You oh you better. They're a baseball town. Let's let's go to um Putnam Valley and Pauling. I mean, listen. Affie Middlebrook. I what did I say? I told you his bat was gonna get him to. Yeah, I told what did I say on this program? I didn't say they were gonna win it, but I said people don't sleep on Pauling in Middlebrook with that bat, no sticks up there. Those kids were hitting the baseball well. They just ran out of the battery. He's a really good athlete, and he's coming back for a senior year. You know, I mean, I'm excited.

SPEAKER_02

His punch dribble jump shot to his bats. Like he's gonna be a good thing. Yeah, he's got he's got a great swing.

SPEAKER_01

He's got a great presence in the in the in the box.

SPEAKER_02

His his dad, in the okay, so let's we'll start let's let's Saturday. All right, so they gotta play on Saturday. Right. Uh again, Putt Valley is the favorite by default because they only got to win one game. Correct. Okay, so so that's not our we had no predictions for baseball, I don't believe, that we put them down there, or we didn't at least put them out on the internet. So, baseball, the favorite, got to win one game. Putt Valley is is is coming off, right? The tragedy that they had during that that that week. Yeah, a lot of a lot of emotions, ups and downs, and all of that. But they're a really good baseball team. They really are a really good baseball team. And polling, which, which polling right now to me is is the X factor in the section, as we would say, for a team. They are the scrappiest, scrappiest young group of kids that I've seen covering it since we started in basketball to covering it now. Uh they do not quit.

SPEAKER_01

No, they didn't.

SPEAKER_02

I would not want to face them in any game elimination whatsoever. Uh Saturday, these kids were not going home.

SPEAKER_01

We're gonna play another one. We're gonna play another one.

SPEAKER_02

They come out, okay? And it was again, and at the end of every game, I made sure that I was in the grandstands so I can I can feel the energy with the parents. Sure. Alfie's dad, he's pacing back and forth, okay? He's pacing back and forth. Every pitch, he's getting up. Tight is there. There were some other uh some other dads there, like, well, we're gonna lose. That's what we do. You know, we're not gonna make it through. You know, Pauling, you know, you had the the superstition dad. Yes. And then you had the guy. It was baseball superstition at its finest in these parents.

SPEAKER_00

Absolutely.

SPEAKER_02

But these kids pull it out. They pull it out and they come to Sunday. Now, Sunday, okay, wasn't a cakewalk for these individuals either.

SPEAKER_01

No, it wasn't.

SPEAKER_02

It wasn't until I believe the sixth inning or so where uh Putnam Valley really pulled away um to make the score. The final score was 5'2, 5'2.

SPEAKER_01

It was like a two-two game or something like that. It was close.

SPEAKER_02

It was close to about the sixth inning where they ended up pulling away.

SPEAKER_01

They strung together a couple of runs and then and then pulled away. But give uh but I that was my dark horse in in baseball prior to the playoff starting. So credit to Pauling and Middlebrook and and his crew and and congratulations to Putnam Valley for for getting a chance to win it again. And they've you know, and we wish them the best of luck going forward. And then we go to Rye Mayapack.

SPEAKER_02

Well, yeah, right. We cover Bright, we covered Byram Hills. They already had one this Saturday. Yep. All right, because it's Rye Mayapak uh drama for this weekend, okay? I mean, unbelievable.

SPEAKER_01

First and how about how well it how about the mob scene for that game? May I pack nation showed up and Rye Nation showed up for that game.

SPEAKER_02

Well, let's talk about a Saturday night, okay? Because the kids are supposed to play at seven o'clock. Right. Seven o'clock first pitch uh for their last game of the night. Seven o'clock first pitch. The first pitch ends up being after 10 p.m. Okay? They were sitting there for four hours. Parents sitting there for four hours. Thank God, thank God for the food trucks. Shout out to Five Senses from Havistraw. Let's go. I mean, that that food truck was amazing. I think I lived there for that day.

SPEAKER_01

Good food, good that food truck brings it now.

SPEAKER_02

Great, great food, she's amazing. Uh they four-hour wait, okay, because they got there early to warm up and so forth. Mayapak parents fully took over the section that we were in. Rye parents, the stands are filled. First pitch 10 plus a.m. Mayapak wins that game 12-0. Those bats were hopping. Lichtenberg and company. Oh man. The shots, I think there were two home runs in that game, I believe. And those shots, I mean, that's an actual thing. That field's not easy to hit home run at. No, it's not. 365, 375, uh left field, right field, still 355, center field's almost 400 feet. I mean, bombs. Bombs. They might have even gone to the softball field for that matter, how hard that ball was hit. 12-0 romp against Rye. Again, unexpected. Maybe not unexpected, it's unfair to say. Rye's the favorite because they only got to win one game. Correct. Okay? There was no way Mayapak was going home that night empty-handed. Right. And Rye looked defeated. You know, we had the we had the Rye kids on for the interview. It'd be another great thing coming out for the baseball show. I'm not gonna, I'm not gonna give away all the secrets what these young kids said for that game, but they were they were they were defeated. That was that was the worst beaten they've gotten all year long. Maybe even last year. Correct. Maybe even two years. Okay? Correct. They came up, they came up from class A to go to class AA, and for them to actually be there for the championship game was was a great achievement, but they got whipped, and they looked like they didn't belong in class double A at that point because Mayapac did from start to finish. There wasn't a chance whatsoever. He pitched an amazing game.

SPEAKER_01

Uh a comprehensive butt kicking. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Then we go. Now these kids finish the game a little over one o'clock. Okay, I think it's 12:30 for one o'clock.

SPEAKER_01

And it's very similar, like the SCC baseball tournament or the ACC baseball tournament, where you have inclimate weather or extra inning games. And then, you know, you think that there's no baseball on your, you know, your cable box, and then you turn on and it's the third inning of Auburn Old Miss, and they've had a rain delay, and it's like 11:30 at night. Very, very much similar to that situation.

SPEAKER_02

Are you talking about when you want you wander out to go downstairs to your your refrigerator, get yourself a glass of milk to go back to bed, and you're like, you know, I'm gonna see what the game is. Let me see if all of a sudden it's still playing.

SPEAKER_01

But yeah, yeah, you know, milk does the body good. It does. Milk does the body good. And then so we get to Sunday.

SPEAKER_02

Sunday. Sunday. The drama on Sunday for Rye Mayapak. Unbelievable. First, shout out to the to the fans. The parents, uh Mayapak took over left field, okay? Uh we we moved our spot to center field where we were because we were we were in between both uh softball and the baseball. That grandstand up there, or the the porch if you will call it there in North Rockland, uh, they took over. You had the stands were filled, the atmosphere was great, the weather was phenomenal. Game is two to one. It was two one? Yeah, two-one. All right, carrying into the seventh inning. Alright, so Rye, Rai is uh leading off. Okay, so Maya Pack has the last lecture, two one, seventh inning, two outs. Two outs, then two strikes. Two outs, two strikes, one pitch away from Maya Pack being the section one class A champions. What you I mean again? Uh I'm not gonna give away all the secrets. You gotta watch the baseball show because because I had on uh three young men from there that gave me all the secrets that were involved in that. Right, Jackson, Michael, uh Lucas, uh who ended up being the closeout pitcher in that scenario. But here you go. May I pack's about to pull off the upset. Last inning, two outs, two strikes, one pitch left, and and an all hell chaos. Michael Tabbitt hits a routine ground ball, okay? He had struck out twice that day, routine ground ball to second base, and just put his head down. He looked like the roadrunner out there, the fastest he ever run, like he stole something, he was being chased.

SPEAKER_01

Correct.

SPEAKER_02

Fastest he ever ran, beats that ball out.

SPEAKER_01

Didn't give up, didn't give up on the play.

SPEAKER_02

Did not give up on the play. Okay.

SPEAKER_01

That's why you ru that's why, as a baseball player, you run everything out at full speed.

SPEAKER_02

Listen, Pete Pete Rose was Pete Rose was watching that game, and he was like, Charlie Hustle, the Pete Rose Award. Absolutely.

SPEAKER_01

You never know.

SPEAKER_02

You never you never know how the ball bounces. Just get it in play and go. You never know how it bounces. And now all of a sudden, two outs, okay. Runner on first base, two-one game, four runs. They score four runs drama. Yeah. High drama, four runs editing. They end up winning five-two. The box score does not reflect how close how close that game was.

SPEAKER_01

How close Mayapak was to winning a section section championship.

SPEAKER_02

And those moments. Gut wrenching. Gut wrenching. Those winning moments that are created by these kids, one of the reasons why we we put this show on. Absolutely. I say it all the time. This is why we play the game. And these boys played that game and they squeaked it out, played their tails off, and squeaked it out. I mean, shout out to Mayapack, shout out to the fans, shout out to your players. You guys played your hearts out. Again, somebody has to lose in that scenario. But Rye going on to the regionals, uh playing tomorrow. Well, technically it'll be yesterday when you guys watch this show on Sunday. Uh, we wish them the best of luck to represent Section One here uh moving forward. I think they're playing Section 9, I believe. I'm not too sure, but we wish them the best in that scenario. Uh just an incredible, incredible weekend of baseball.

SPEAKER_01

That's unreal.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And then, and then uh not bad. We had some drama in softball.

SPEAKER_02

Moving right on to the girls' softball. Okay, again, I can't say enough. These fields, these fields. We had the best spot. We had the best spot because girls' softball field is is smaller than the boys. All right. So when you're in the outfield, you're much closer. Right. It's more intimate in the world. It's more intimate there. Still the same grandstands. Um, another beautiful facility. Oh. I mean beautiful. Insane. It's ridiculous. Insane. So girls' softball.

SPEAKER_01

And we'll let's start from the top. Well, North Rockland gets a chance to be on their field.

SPEAKER_02

The Monday game. The Monday game. First game, first game Monday afternoon. Against Clark Sound South, right down the road. Before we rock down, before we even go there. I was there for that game. When I tell you, okay, so we're set up right in center field. You'll see it in the softball show. Uh you have sports engine, okay, filming right underneath the scoreboard. The grand stance, standing room only. You couldn't get it. They said it was absolute we have videos and pictures of it on the highlights.

SPEAKER_01

Ridiculous the amount of people that showed up for this. We had people in front of us. But taking our set. But if you remember what I said, if you remember what I said about if North Rockland gets to the final and the weather's good, what'd I say it was going to be? I I I told you that people were going to show up in teals. And they did. Rockland County rock fight. Right. And Rockland County rock fight in softball. Absolutely. But I got to put you on the spot, coach.

SPEAKER_02

I got to put you on the spot because what you did say, which you also said, you also said that North Rock, Northland. Rockland was going to win. I did. The internet said North Rockland was going to win. By a large, by a large majority. 70%. 70% of the voters said North Rockland was going to win.

SPEAKER_01

Carly Vos and Crew had to had to prove me wrong.

SPEAKER_02

They proved me wrong.

SPEAKER_01

They proved us wrong.

SPEAKER_02

Eight innings. Drama. Drama. Eight innings. 5-4 win, eight innings. Clarkstown South squeaks out the win here, proving coach and Kevin wrong, and proving the entire internet wrong for that matter. I mean, that was such an incredible game, such an incredible atmosphere. You know, it's it's sad for the North Rockland girls who couldn't win on their fields. I mean, it's always very incredible to win on that field. Very difficult.

SPEAKER_01

We're going to talk about winning on your field and what that means in a second. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, we will talk about the national championship uh uh college game for that matter in the East.

SPEAKER_01

But uh yeah, same with the softball coach. And then Eastchester, a resounding comprehensive victory over uh uh Yorktown. I don't I don't think that we realize how good that young group is over at Eastchester. I mean, we knew that we talked about them when they were younger themselves. When they were when they were younger, we talked about them being really good, what going to the states and the regionals and softball years ago in middle school. But since that young lady, she's been pitching now four years. I mean, there they're this is this is not the first, this is not gonna be the last one.

SPEAKER_02

No, it's not gonna be the last one. You guys had them winning. Uh the internet had uh them eking out by 53% over 47. I mean, this this was coming. But it was it was a decisive win. That was that was a very decisive win.

SPEAKER_01

And these girls and these young girls at Eastchester, they're built for a regional run. They're built for a final four. Definitely built for uh uh appear, you know, get to the final four. They really are. I don't know if they can win it this year. I think they're a year away, but I think they're gonna give themselves, I think they're given themselves an opportunity to get there, and we'll see what happens.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, they have they have the confidence uh and the swagger that's necessary to be a champion team.

SPEAKER_01

And then Pearl River. Three to one against a very good John Jay Cross River team.

SPEAKER_02

Yes.

SPEAKER_01

Outstanding and by the way, when you see a softball game three to one, two to one, you know that the defense is also outstanding. Not only is the pitching fantastic, but the defense is outstanding because you're not giving extra at bats in the inning.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Because if you give up extra bats in the inning against really good softball teams, they will and baseball teams, they will punish you.

SPEAKER_02

I'm not sure what the average uh softball game is, how how long it is, but uh in this case, to your point, the 3-1 win, it was it was quick. It was a quick, very, very quick game.

SPEAKER_01

Probably about an hour and 10.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, so if the if the average is an hour and a half, they were underneath the average of that case. These girls were playing, the defense was great, uh, the runs were were hard fought for that matter. Uh, but it was a great win for them at Pear River.

SPEAKER_01

And then we get to class B and Dobbs Ferry wasn't happy that um we didn't pick them. No, no, no. You did you did pick Dobbs Ferry? No, we picked Dobbs Ferry.

SPEAKER_02

You did pick Dobbs Ferry. I did not pick Dobbs. Yeah, yeah, you did pick Dobbs. The internet did not pick Dobbs.

SPEAKER_01

No, they didn't. The internet thought you guys were out of your minds.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, they could pick up the phone. 71 of the internet said, All right, I read that wrong.

SPEAKER_01

Holy read wrong. You did pick Dobbs. We picked Dobbs um in a pitcher's duel, and then Dobbs just got a couple more timely hits, and you know, we're able to beat Haldane four to one uh and uh and obviously come back from that heartbreak that they had last year when they lost in the section final. And so congratulations to Dobbs Ferry girls.

SPEAKER_02

I do want to shout out uh I was there with Anthony Figuera and uh the boys. They uh they showed up, you know. It's one thing for parents to show up, but it was another thing for these kids to show up. There was a whole section in left field, uh, sorry, right field, where the whole wall was taken up by kids, okay? Yes. Who didn't have, you know, there wasn't their sister who wasn't playing or they weren't there with their parents. It was just the kids that came together and they were just out there having a good time on the girls.

SPEAKER_01

Dobbsbury's like that. Dobbs is one of those communities where everybody gets behind. It could be anything, you know, it could be anything, any sport. If Dobbsbury's playing for a championship, their their student body normally shows up. They really do a nice job of supporting one another.

SPEAKER_02

I think Dobbsbury should get behind uh taking us to dinner. Okay, down in Dobbs. Or just give us a good recommendation. There's a lot of great places in Dobbs. A lot of great places to go in Dobbs.

SPEAKER_01

And then uh we come to uh not a surprise.

SPEAKER_02

The Class C was not a surprise, no. No.

SPEAKER_01

Tuckahoe Girls, Atwood and Company, um, you know, did what they were supposed to do. North Salem, give them credit, you know, to get there. And but there's, you know, you're not Maggie Atwood's Maggie Atwood, and that's it. And they've they've got a shot to get the final four.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, big shout out to to to North Salem. They uh they only played with eight girls. Okay, one of the girls was sick, one of the girls hurt, so they only played with eight girls. Uh and still came in and still competed. It's not, it's it's it's not easy.

SPEAKER_01

It's not easy to play a game with one person down. And when and and when you're a small school to begin with, and you don't have a large pool of athletes, and you lose one or two, it can it, you know, it's gonna be tough. It's gonna be a tough uphill battle.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, especially when you play with eight because the two outfielders have to cover the whole outfield. So any any normal base any normal base hit is a double. It's basically you get it you get a ground ball into the outfield. If it's hit hard enough, it's going to defense. You almost guaranteed double for that matter versus a uh a single. Absolutely. So the girls lacrosse, uh not girls lacrosse, forgive me, the girls softball show uh will uh be out right after this show uh early next week. We have a whole show for girls' softball, just as we do for all of these individual teams and sports. We thank everybody for all the love that the girls flag football got. Uh thousands of views on that scenario. We almost 10,000 views when you talk about the YouTube channel and you talk about the medals uh and all of that that we'll get to. But big shout out to the fans for for supporting us and supporting young ladies. The softball show will be out. Coach moving right along here.

SPEAKER_01

Boys across no no surprises. Um, no surprises. Um Mamarinick uh did basically stomped all hope that Scarsdale could possibly have out early.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, it was about the Titans. These guys got 11 or so seniors. I think I think there's there's more underclassmen on Mamaranak than there are seniors on Scarsdale. Uh this was Mamaranak's year. I mean, they've been well trained for it. Those seniors are not just seniors who have been playing for the year.

SPEAKER_01

The Reese brothers. I mean, we saw them in basketball. Athletes, tough, physical, strong. Um, all the guys, you know, their offense is uh unreal, you know, great goalkeeping, great defense. Uh listen, credit to Scars for getting to the section final. Yeah they're go they're gonna they they their their future looks bright there. Future looks very bright there. But um, but uh I you know I we got we got the alarm going off.

SPEAKER_02

Alarm going off alarm going off here. I think the Bears got the alarm going off going on right now. Let's uh let's let's cut that off here.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, well yeah, so but I I I think the Scarsdale's he it was it was his time to wake up.

SPEAKER_02

Let's let's hear it.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, put the hat up a little bit higher on the bear. He's awake now. Yeah, mate. I took his nap. 12 12 25. You gotta take a snap. Um I just think Scarsdale will be back. They will be. Very young kids. Very young. Yeah. They've done a great job with that program over there. Congratulations on a great season, but you ran into a juggernaut.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I mean, listen, there was nothing they can do with that. 18, 18, 18-2, was that the score, right? 18-2, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

18-2, and then Yorktown and Greeley and Kevin may. I I got we got a shout out, Kevin. Kevin said to us if it gets to 3-1, 4-1, 5-1, psychologically, that could get it done. And what happened? They got out to a lead. Yep, and they never looked back.

SPEAKER_02

And they were playing on their home field. Home field. And that place was. It was rocking. Right. I I Claudio, Claudio, and crew were there.

SPEAKER_01

Uh Kevin was it was a scene. Yeah, it was rocking. And and if and and Greeley brought, listen, I know Greeley, the Quaker Nation showed up. However, it's Yorktown for the section championship and look in Boys Lacrosse. Uh a program steeped in tradition, history, pedigree. Congratulations to Horace Greeley for having a great year and getting to the final. But at that point, it wasn't, you know, it was it was a tough, it was an uphill battle for them to begin with.

SPEAKER_02

Yorktown's a stable across program forever for years. Even when I was when I was a kid up there. So congratulations to Yorktown. They they they pulled out a big one. These, these, no surprises, by the way. All the predictions of both you and Kevin and the internet match these first two games we talked about.

SPEAKER_01

And then we go Rye, Ry, Rye Somers. And and so it it so you knew that Somers was gonna be better. Yep. And they were previous to the time that they played way back in March. You knew it was gonna be um uh a you knew it was gonna be more competitive. You didn't know if it was gonna be a different outcome. I didn't we didn't think it was gonna be a different outcome. Um, we thought it was gonna be the same outcome, but we thought it was gonna be a lot closer, and it was. Yeah, and it was. But Ryze got great depth, um Najalik, you know, sophomore and shoemaker and miller and Miller and I mean a company. I mean, it's just those two kids have those two kids. They won three section championships this year. They did. They they did. It's it's just it's just amazing. They won three. And and you know, this is their this is their their sport. Well, Miller's sport. Yeah. Um and so, you know, nobody's really surprised by that. I think the biggest surprise is the game that we're gonna talk about last. Bronxville versus Pleasantville. We said on air that if Bronxville makes it a football game, that they would win the section championship.

SPEAKER_02

For those who didn't watch that episode, there was a back and forth prediction. Okay, Pleasantville, Pleasantville was the favorite according to our host. Pleasantville was a favorite. According to our host here.

SPEAKER_01

They had beaten Bronxville earlier in the year. But I said, what? You said if they come out playing America football team, if they come out physical and and they make it a football game with a lacrosse stick in their hands, that it was gonna be a real problem for Pleasantville. And to your credit, you stuck with your pick. You picked them. Now I'll say this though. Did I think it was gonna be 14 to six? Absolutely not. No way. No way. Absolutely not. And and that is a that is a wire-to-wire victory for Bronxville. Congratulations to them. Pleasantville had a fantastic year as well. But I just think that those football players made a difference.

SPEAKER_02

They did. They really, really did. Uh you said it. You said if they come out there physical, they're going, they're going to win. And they did. They did. That was it. That's why we play the game. That's it. That's why we play the game, coach.

SPEAKER_01

And then last but certainly not, certainly not least, the girls across section championships. I want to go.

SPEAKER_02

I want to let's set the scene here, coach. Scene. Another another Rockland County facility. We're playing at Nyack. Oh man.

SPEAKER_01

You had you had the Hudson Valley uh uh mountains and and and and and all the foliage was green and all that.

SPEAKER_02

They had this, they had the stands. It looked like uh looked like a Harvard building was there.

SPEAKER_01

Oh my goodness. Beautiful. Uh and by the way, the entire complex at Nyack is beautiful. And um Joe Sugello.

SPEAKER_02

I was gonna say I was gonna message Joe Sigello is phenomenal.

SPEAKER_01

The A D is a is a such a gracious man and uh just a good human being. And um just it was a great venue. It was just an awesome venue. Um so listen, let's let's let's leave the home let's leave the home team for last. Yes, we're gonna leave. We're gonna leave that home team. We're gonna leave the home team last. Let's uh go with suffering suffering Wappingers. Suffering Wappingers.

SPEAKER_02

Not a shock. No, not a shock. It wasn't a shock. You picked you picked suffering, the internet picked suffering. Kevin did too.

SPEAKER_01

And Kevin thought it was gonna be decisive.

SPEAKER_02

And it and it was and it was. I was there the the suffering game, they came out strong, you know. Didn't give him any hope. Didn't give him any hope from the beginning. It wasn't like it was it was close down.

SPEAKER_01

They they and credit Wappingers for getting there and congratulations on it. They played their tails off, they competed. But they couldn't win the draw control. They couldn't win the draw. You're not winning draw control, you ain't winning. You ain't winning. That's it. You're not winning. So congratulations, suffering. They move on, congrat uh Wappingers, great season. And uh Suffron moves on, and they should make some noise in the state tournament.

SPEAKER_02

They should definitely make some noise in the state tournament.

SPEAKER_01

So let's go to um next. Rye Pellem.

SPEAKER_02

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

And eight, seven and a half.

SPEAKER_02

Wait, before we go to Rybellum, I just want to say we interview typically we interview the winning coach and the MVPs off of every game. Uh in in all of our on location shows. If you're never seen our on location shows for the Section One champions that we did for basketball on these five, MVP and MVPs and also the coach and the girls for lacrosse. Some of the uh most amazing moments that these young girls gave us. You'll see it on the show. I'm not gonna spoil all the side of it. Yeah, we can't. But you'll see it, you'll see it on our show coming out next week. But man, some of the between the coaches and the girls, some of the most amazing moments that we've been a part of on the internet.

SPEAKER_01

Very intelligent uh coaches, very intelligent young ladies, uh, a ton of exuberant personalities, big personalities, huge personalities. And uh, and and they they they really enhanced our show with their charisma and their class and their intelligence. They did. Totally. So moving right along, coach, Rye Pelham. Rye Pelham, eight seven at the half. I don't think anybody thought that that was gonna be as close as it was. And give Pelham the girls credit and Brooke Green and company. I mean, but I just think second half, Rye kind of wore them down.

SPEAKER_02

They came out right away.

SPEAKER_01

And and and and when you wear and when you have that kind of depth, that quality of depth, and Pelham is a has got great athletes there, and their coaching staff does a great job. However, Pelham, as far as school student body, they don't have the amount of athletes that Rye do, that Rye does. And and I think Fair to say. Very fair to say. You know, and I don't mean that in a bad way, it just is what it is. Um some communities have are more athletically inclined than others in our area. And but I just think Rye so deep athletically, and I think that that was the difference in the second half, and you know, they they outscored him seven to two in the second half, and that was it.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, the box the box score shows a decisive win, and it was a decisive win. But the first half was great, great lacrosse.

SPEAKER_01

Great lacrosse. Great lacrosse. Congratulations to Pelham, they had a great year. Um, but I just think Rye is too deep, too talented, and I think they had a chance to make a big, big run. I agree. And then and then the one that was a shocker, uh I don't know if it was a shocker. I mean, I mean Bronxville played a very tough schedule.

SPEAKER_02

You did, you did, you and Kevin and the internet all agreed that Pleasantville would have been the winner.

SPEAKER_01

But I I I don't think people thought it was gonna be uh we thought it was gonna be close, but I don't think people in general thought it was gonna be as close as it was.

SPEAKER_02

Well, let me tell you something, because I I did that interview, all right, after the game, and you're talking about Pleasantville ties the game with 6.9 seconds left in the half. Okay? Right. First shout out to both fan bases because they were they were on fire the entire game. In and out of their seats. So they they tie it at halftime, okay? 7-7 halftime. The second half, okay, they're going back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. This game here, 11-9, the 11-9 score is a testament, okay, to the shutout for saves by the Pleasantville goalie, uh, who is a freshman. Freshman. Uh oh, her name is Case Me Hurt. Uh we'll have to look this up. We'll have to look this up hurt. Uh, she, this young lady who we talked about, uh Ms. Hurt, for that matter, is her last name. She she is a freshman, and she's she was starting because the senior was out. She hurt her, she she hurt herself uh during, I believe, wrestling season in that scenario. And her shutout fourth quarter was why they won the game. A freshman, 14 years old. Can't be easy. I mean, it's just incredible. And and so to get an understanding of of how this game looks and feels, they start the game in the daytime. They end the game under the lights. So that's that dynamic is a change in the field. Like your first half of the game, it's it's light out. The second half of the game, you were it's you're under the lights. And this young lady, just a dominant performance for her in inside the fourth period, and that was a deciding factor. And Pleasantville, they they took the win. Great interviews after after the show. Great, great though, the coaches from Pleasantville, uh, big shout out to them, the the the players. Like, it was just really, really fun group of of kids to to talk about.

SPEAKER_01

And then we we were gonna finish up with the college games? The college the the college lacrosse game that we watched? That was that was impressive. I and I'm you know, my daughter played lacrosse for four years. Mia board played lacrosse for four years at Arsley. You know how I know that?

SPEAKER_02

Because that day, that day, coach was leaning, leaning on his beautiful young daughter, and I was there with him. I was going through the game. Hey, Mia, what is uh what does this mean?

SPEAKER_01

Is it an eight meter? Is it an eight-meter penalty, Mia? She started laughing. And to Mia's credit, she was on the spot. That is an eight-meter penalty direct shot. Yes, okay.

SPEAKER_02

Late at night, that dad is talking to her again stuff.

SPEAKER_01

So crazy.

SPEAKER_02

Shout out to Mia Ward.

SPEAKER_01

Thank you, Mia Ward, for helping your father. That's she was she was so good. Um, so Nyack, Yorktown, unbelievable. I I I just I have no words. Two programs that are just both of them unreal. 10, 11, and 12 division one committee. This field was strewn with uh college level division one, high D2 players. Uh correct shout out to Yorktown Huskers, Heather Raniolo, uh Courtney Hintman, uh Anna O'Connor, Joe Colaruso. They've got a great team. They've always been fantastic. It was a shame somebody had to lose. Yes. It was a very statement. It was a it was a shame. And um I, you know, A Ava Ryan was fantastic as Sidney Satriali for um Yorktown, amongst others. Uh and Annie Caneen, she was great for Yorktown, but Nyak has been what Nyack's been all year long. Um I think that being on their home field was a decided advantage. I believe that uh after we talked to Coach Katherine Perella about how they go about doing things over there, it's amazing that their program is as good as they are after after we inter after we interview them. We don't wanna give up too much. We won't give up too much. She was so good. For what her and her assistant Liz Gould, what they have to do to keep that program running at a high level, it's unbelievable. It's unreal.

SPEAKER_02

And for them I would have hated, coach, I would have hated, okay, uh to be at the kitchen table after that game with Liz. Mama, mama, mama Gould over there, okay. Yeah. Uh because if you don't know her her her daughters. Her daughters can play all over this team. They're all over this team.

SPEAKER_01

They can play a little bit. They can play a little bit.

SPEAKER_02

And had they lost to be at that dinner table?

SPEAKER_01

Oh my gosh.

SPEAKER_02

I would feel I would I would have loved to be at that dinner table because they won. Could you imagine that to be there?

SPEAKER_01

How about going to the Cummings family house and having to deal with um Casey Cummings losing in her senior year? I don't pass off home cooked meals, coach.

SPEAKER_02

But I would have passed off that home cooked meal if I was invited if they were.

SPEAKER_01

Or Ellie Gould, her senior year losing at home. And so, listen, we saw a fantastic up Yorktown goes up 2-1. I thought the key of the moment, well, the key of that game was the 7-2 run. That kind of gave him that cushion that they kept for most of the game until the fourth quarter. When it went to 14 14-14. 14-14. Anybody's game. 14-14. It felt like, okay, if Yorktown can get the go-ahead goal, it was a wrap. It would have been a wrap. I think they would have been.

SPEAKER_02

And at that point, uh, Yorktown was on a run. Uh 3-0 run. Casey, Casey, who who typically wins the draw. Casey will tell you that win the draw, win the game. Absolutely. That's where I got that term from. Shout out to her. Win the draw, win the game. Absolutely. And she was not winning the draw. She wasn't. At that point, when Yorktown got to 14-14.

SPEAKER_01

Yorktown went on that 3-0 run at the end of the third quarter, 14-0. Place is going nuts. And then NyAC does what they've done all year long. They answered a bell.

SPEAKER_00

It is.

SPEAKER_01

And they went on a 5-0 run, outscored Yorktown 6-3 in the fourth quarter. Like basketball was a game of runs. Game of runs. Absolutely. It was a game of runs. And they won 20 20 to 17 and they phenomenally, just a phenomenal high-level girls lacrosse game. It was at a real different level. And I was very impressed. And and listen, you know, Abby Gould's only a sophomore. She had 11 goals. Gilbart, sophomore, she had four goals, three assists. Casey Cummings had two huge uh interceptions, two goals and an assist. Um where's my other where's the other Gould at? Where's she at? You got so many circles on this piece of paper. Jane Gould, the eighth grader. Jane Gould had three assists. And then you turn around and Ella Gould and her senior game, uh, along with Casey and her senior game, and Von Cleek had an assist. Ella Gould has two goals, two assists, four draw controls. Casey has nine draw controls. And that basically, particularly in the fourth quarter, they got draw control uh back. You know, they got they got they got they got all the draw controls uh in the fourth quarter and got possession and that allowed them to go on a 5-0 run.

SPEAKER_02

I wonder if the ghouls the ghouls get their their talent uh in lacrosse from their mom or their dad.

SPEAKER_01

Well, they they do from their it's I think well I I don't listen, Catherine Perella, Coach Perel. Careful coach Coach Perel and Coach Gould played high school lacrosse together. Together at Nyack at Nyack. That was amazing to hear and then and then to watch them work on the sideline together. They have tremendous chemistry. They've known each other for since high school. So they've known each other. Uh I don't want to, you know, ladies don't want to hear how many years they've been. Yeah, but they've been together a long time, so they know each other well.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, coach, they've only been together for like 10 years. Yeah. Well, in that long time, 10 years. They had their 10-year reunion about two years ago. Right? They're they're still 35 years old, these young ladies.

SPEAKER_01

Absolutely. So don't appreciate that. So um, but like I said, it it was a fantastic game. Um I don't want to give away the the interview. No, no, we can't. The interview is so great. So good. Can't do it. Can't do it. Um, but Coach Perella was fantastic, but the girls were uh at a different place. Cummings and and Ella Gould, Casey and Yellow were were great in the interview process, and I I want our viewership to watch it. So but it was it was a remarkable game, and it was a great venue, and um we wish all of our teams the best of luck in the regionals going forward.

SPEAKER_02

Exactly. Uh listen, it's been so much fun covering these these young young athletes. It's been amazing. I don't think people always realize how young they are. You know, you got 13-year-olds playing, 14-year-olds playing.

SPEAKER_01

Well, but I and and and and let me say this paige gotti, sophomore, who came who came off the bench, you know, who got put into the into the fire because of the fact that Emily, was it Emily Rodriguez? I think you're right.

SPEAKER_02

I think it was Rodriguez.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Is he Emily?

SPEAKER_01

Emily Rodriguez, who's a pace commitment. Look at her number 35. Torah ACL wrestling. She was in the Eastern States, tour ACL, and Emily Rodriguez needs a lot of credit, gets a lot, should get a lot of credit for helping uh Paige Scotty uh get there. And she made six saves, and no none were bigger than the fourth save, and the sixth, her last save that she made. None were bigger and and helping decide the outcome for Nyak. So I want to give that young lady 15 years old.

SPEAKER_02

15 years old. 15 years old.

SPEAKER_01

Unbelievable.

SPEAKER_02

We have covered Section One championship sports now. Six, six, uh, six games, not games, six sports we have covered here in our early career at the Winnie Moments. I want to give a huge shout out to all the executives here at Section One, Todd Santa Barbara, Dan Belfield, Jesse Merchant. Talking to these guys and having having been intimate in these relationships when we talk about the sections, the planning that goes into it, the staff that goes into it, shout out to all the staff. Everyone taking uh tickets to making sure that the medals are on the field. The staff is amazing. Uh most most of the staff are also coaches at and AB helping out in that scenario.

SPEAKER_01

They're fantastic. We not nobody does it like our section. And I've I've coached in New Jersey, I've coached in South Carolina. Especially now with the adding of the winning moments to make it even better.

SPEAKER_02

Allowing us to be there, this partnership that we're we're creating here to cover them, it elevates the already elevated athletes here in section one. You know, you'll see it in some of the shows. We talk about we're not known for all our sports. Maybe now you should be known for all our sports that we cover uh here in section one. So a big shout out to the executives and their staff and all the other coaches that helped out throughout all these five championships that we covered this spring season. Uh it was a lot. It was a lot. Unpredicted weather, unpredicted uh innings and times. Drama. Drama, but everybody came together. Also, uh the medals this year working with Section One and producing the first ever interactive medals. Kids loved it, by the way. Kids absolutely loved it. It was uh seeing their faces in that is is you know, when you build something, like you think about building a business or building a brand, yes, you you want to build a successful business. But everything that I've ever done in my career and building companies and building brands, there's no better satisfaction that when you see someone using the product and then their face on it. So section one decided to put well, section one and the winning moments came together, and we decided that the medals need to do more than regular medals. So when you tap the actual medal, you now get to see all of the highlights, okay? No lowlights, as Kevin might say. All of the highlights for all of the games that everybody participated in. The interactive medals are the first of its kind in any youth sports, any section, anywhere in the country. So the trust that section one has had with the winning moments and working with you guys, it has been amazing. We are so grateful and thankful that you put your trust in us to not only use our technology, but to put us out there uh and allow us to be part of these amazing moments, these winning moments. I want to thank everyone at Section One for doing so. Coach, what a five days. Unbelievable. Okay, what a five days. We we were here running around like crazy.

SPEAKER_01

It was it was crazy, but it was awesome. It was well worth it. And um, I just it's it's it's been fantastic.

SPEAKER_02
