First off, happy St. Paddy's Day since this is coming out the day before St. Paddy's Day. Second, welcome to Ghost and Gabble with Sabrina and Joey.
SPEAKER_03In today's episode, we are talking about Area 51 conspiracy theories. From its founding in 1955 until 2013, Area 51 was completely top secret. Area 51, a highly classified U.S. Air Force flight testing facility in Nevada, has been the subject of numerous conspiracy theories. Most notable the belief that the house houses crashed alien space spacecraft and exiternal extraterrestrial bodies. Apparently I can't never speak half the time. Crash to alien airships is the most famous theory besides the wreckage of an alien aircraft from 1947. Was moved to Area 51 for study. Usually referred to as the Rosewell incident in 1947, where the US government intentionally claimed to recover a flying disc, but later changed the story to a weather balloon fueling decades of conspiracy theories about the recovered alien craft and bodies.
SPEAKER_01Something we may have to look into uh when it comes to Area 51. Have you heard about I don't remember which country it was, but supposedly there was a UFO that crashed down in another country and um the US interfered with it to bring them back to Area 51?
SPEAKER_03Yes. Other famous alleged incidents including the Actez New Mexico crash, a known hoax, and another Texas crash, a local legend alongside modern whistleblowers claim to government retrieved of alien technology. Of course, they're trying to reverse engineer the alien technology. Promance believe proponents. Proponents believe government scientists are working to reverse engineer advanced alien perusual and weapon systems, which accounts for the development of cutting-edge US military technology like stealth fighters. Okay, kind of mentioning that? Imagine if that's where we got all of our stealth technology from, was from alien spaceships.
SPEAKER_01I mean, we are gonna have another theory coming in over what is it next week that has to do with part of it has to do with aliens. But I mean I do believe that a lot of our advanced technology has come from places that we don't truly know about some theories suggest that bodies of the alien crew members from crashes are stored in the autopsy to at the base.
SPEAKER_03Others involve claims of government meetings or joint undertakings with extra terrestrials. Then there's also the underground facilities. Hopefully I pronounced that right. Anybody from Nevada, don't come at me, cuz hopefully I said that right. Uh S-4, maybe that's another meeting. I did not look that up, which I meant to do. Some even suggesting a transcontinental underground railroad system. The facility is next to uh two other restricted militar military areas. The Nevada test site where the US nuclear weapons are tested from 1950 from the 1950s to the 1990s. And the Nevada test and training range. The entire range covers more than 2.9 million acres of land.
SPEAKER_01Honestly, that's a lot more than I thought.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, it was. I was probably thinking maybe like a couple hundred thousand uh acres, but two point nine million.
SPEAKER_01I wasn't even thinking that.
SPEAKER_03Imagine just an electricity bill for that then.
SPEAKER_01I don't know if we're using alien technologies, they may have figured something out over there that they don't even have an electricity bill.
SPEAKER_03Then why was Area 51 bill? Area 51 was created during the Cold War between the US and the Soviet Union as a testing and development facility for aircraft, including the U-2 and the SR-71 Blackbird. Recognized planes. Although it opened in 1955, its existence was only officially acknowledged by the CIA in August of 2013.
SPEAKER_01Now, speaking of when it was built, I've heard theories that it was actually built a lot sooner than that, and it even contributed purposes in like World War II and stuff like that. And that's just I mean, because like you said, a lot of stuff didn't start coming out until the 2000s, and you know, there's still stuff that we probably I can't even say probably, there's still stuff I know for a fact we don't know about. They're not releasing everything.
SPEAKER_03Four months after the CIEA's disclosure, President Obama became the first president to mention Area 51 publicly. I do remember that.
SPEAKER_01Now that's another thing, kind of going back on our JFK one, because I also there are theories that he was trying to speak about certain things that um weren't being released, like things like UFOs and potentially Area 51, and that was one of the theories behind why he was assassinated.
SPEAKER_03What goes on there today, Odo? Official information is sparse. It is believed that the U.S. military continues to use Area 51 to develop cutting-edge aircraft. About 1,500 people are believed to work there, many commuting on charter flights from Las Vegas, Annie Jacobson, who has written about the history of Area 51, told the BBC that some of the world's most advanced epinage programs are at the site. Area 51 is a test and training facility. The research began with the U-2 spy plane in the 1950s and now moved to drones, she says. Yeah, of course, there is the Area 51 declassification and the U-2 spy plane history. The Area 51 joke that became a possible disaster. How this one ties in, I I don't know, but why the moon landing conspiracy theories aren't true?
SPEAKER_01Well, don't you have the moon landing uh conspiracy theories planned at some point?
SPEAKER_03Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_01Do you recall information about Area 51 being in that?
SPEAKER_03Mm-hmm. They all of these words has, I'm assuming, if I remember correct, all came from the Annie Jacobson or his son.
SPEAKER_01Well, before we do that one, you may have to look into the conspiracy of Area 51 and the Moon Landing.
SPEAKER_03Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_01And tie that into it a little bit as well. I've heard something about because of the um because of the way that set em up in the space that they have. Again, I did not expect the 2.9 million acres, but I've heard of a mumble something about the theory of because of the space they had, they had the room to be able to set them up the moon landing and make it look more um convincing, I guess I should say.
SPEAKER_03Most famous is the claim that the site hosts an alien spacecraft and the bodies of its pilots after a crash at Crosswell, New Mexico in 1947, which I mentioned that earlier.
SPEAKER_01So are aliens real?
SPEAKER_03Could be.
SPEAKER_01What is our audience's belief? Do they believe aliens are real? Do you believe aliens are real?
SPEAKER_03Do you?
SPEAKER_01Absolutely.
SPEAKER_03They could be real or it could be just one major hoax.
SPEAKER_01I belie I I 100% believe there are things, even that we've talked about already, like Bigfoot, that you know we may not have seen or experienced directly, but that could definitely be real.
SPEAKER_03Then in 1989, a man named Robert Laszlo or Lazar claimed he has worked on it uh it ah well alien technology inside Area 51. He also claimed he has seen medical photographs of aliens in the the government used the facility to examine the UFOs.
SPEAKER_01I've heard that there's more than just aliens and things to do with the military there. There's a lot of stuff that goes on there that um are said to be theories or mythical. I even heard at one point somebody that had been requested to go back for experimentation and they saw um an aquarium with like mermaids or something like that.
SPEAKER_03So it could. Area 51's association with aliens has served as a useful distraction for the intelligence agencies as early as 1950. The CIA developed a UFO office to deal with sightings and unidentify flying objects over Nevada when people first saw the U-2 spy plane flying. No one knew what they were seeing, says Ms. Jacobsons. What happened if people storm Area 51?
SPEAKER_01Well, we now know what happens if people storm Area 51, because we had that incident where people did try to storm Area 51.
SPEAKER_03And that's what this is referencing as. And I think it was alleged to be Maddie Roberts, age 20 at the time, created a Facebook event proposing that we run faster than their bullets. Let's see them. Aliens, two meet two million people said they were going. Although a linked festival has been since moved of fears of possible human disaster, which I do remember seeing that on Facebook many years ago. Warning signs around Area 51 make it clear that no trespassers will be tolerated. And it added the U.S. Air Force always stands ready to protect America and its assets. God, I can't remember the nickname that they were given. The white white cowboys or white rangers or something like that. I'd have to look that one up.
SPEAKER_01I mean, we've talked about it how I have many generations of family that were specifically in the Air Force. It's too bad. Even currently, family, I'm not even gonna mention relation that is in the Air Force at the moment, or works at least alongside with the Air Force. It's so sad we can't get more information.
SPEAKER_03But if we ever go missing, you know why. Is the classification of a report on Area 51, whether it sheds light on the alleged criminal activity that went on inside of the controversial and non-existent base? According to Professor Jonathan Tolery, the documents release will do a little quash the glut of Area 51 conspiracy theories about recovered alien air spaceships and government cover-ups, but the real cover-up there has nothing to do with UFOs. Area 51 was more than a national security site. There's also an alleged crime scene, and at least two good men have died from what occurred there. One of the reasons people never entirely sure about what is going on at Area 51 is that it is a highly classified secret military facility. It was until 2013 that the U.S. government acknowledged the existence and the name Area 51, which I did mention that a bit ago. This information came out as a part of a border set of documents released through the Freedom of Information Act request, which is something regular citizens and groups could do to ask the U.S. government to provide details about government activities. In this case, the request made a public formality classified CIA information regarding the hysterical development and testing of the U U-2 spy plane. And the information also revealed that it was tested at Area 51. But of course, we all know there's a long history uh Area 51, but we can't confirm what's real and fake with Area 51 unless we can find someone who worked at Area 51 at some point, but somebody does come and say they will probably end up dead somehow. Then in the early years of the Cold War, the United States and the Soviet Union, both nations, sought new technology developments that might give one country more power than the other. A great amount of information about scientists' achievements such as rockets or weapons, but also even on ways to grow more food or make fuel more efficient, was kept secret as an issue of national security. A key part of not fighting another world war was and still is developing technology to see what the other side is doing. That is, surveillance technologies can spy on the enemy. The information gathered by a new and approved surveillance technologies about new innovations with planes and weapons are very important to governments. More flying objects seen in Clark Sky. Read the June 17th, 1959 headline in Reno. Evening Gazette newspaper reports like this of the ident unidentified flying objects in the 1950s and 1960s fueled controversies and attention for Area 51. Area fifty-one was a highly secret and not public accessible. The Cold War was an era of politician tension, and there was many movies and TV shows about space aliens at the time. When the government does not tell the public the full truth, no matter the reason, secrets can lead to wild spectaculations. Secretly, or secretary can leave the room for conspiracy theories to develop. Area 51 remains off limits to civilian and regular military aircraft. A decade after the government's acknowledgement in existence, the 68 years of the government secrecy hope developed to amplify suspicions, speculations, and conspiracy theories. These conspiracy theories include a crashed alien airspace or spaceships, space aliens being experimented on, and even aliens working at Area 51. There is much more explanations for what witnesses seen here at Area 51 after all the public knows about what was being tested at Area 51. And when, for example, as the U-2 and the A-12 flight increased in the 1950s and 60s, so did local sightings of UFOs. As balloons and planes crashed, the and secret testing of new technologies as well as captured of Soviet equipment continued, so did UF re UFO report crashes and landings. In fact, many UFO sightings matched almost exactly with dates, times, and flights, and then non-classified experiment aircraft. We also know the prototype drones and more recent versions have also been tested at the site. And therein there is no reason to thank any aircraft. Then earlier or earthly technologies has been behind the strange sights and sounds at Area 51. In the 1940s to 50, reports of flying saucers became an American culture phenomenal sightings of strange objects in the sky became the raw materials for Hollywood to present versions or visions of potential threats. Postor films like Earth versus the Flying Saucer from 1956 illustrate these fears. Connected to the ongoing ideals about life on the moon, the canals on Mars, and the ideal about Martini civilians flying saucers have come to represent the hopes and fears of the modern world. All these alleged visitors from other worlds peacefully and violent violent. KXTA. Groom Lakes is a saw flat used for runaways for the Nelsing bombings test sites. The lake itself is 3.7 miles north to south and three miles across its widest point. While the origins of the name is unclear, the general belief that Area 51 was part of the Atomic Energy Commissions or AEC numbering grid. However, Area 51 does not belong to this system. It has also been suggested that Area 51 was used before the AEC would not need it for the grid system. Over the years, Area 51 has been focused on conspiracy theories about UFO sightings and extra extraterrestrial. The small town of Rachel, Nevada often receiv annual visitors as it has become somewhat of a tourist destination. Even as the extraterrestrial highway rumors began, civilians in the area stated reporting UFO sightings, which were primary test flights conducted by the installation.
SPEAKER_01Of course, because like you said, the military can't say nothing. They sign that dotted line. Excuse me for this one We're gonna do that again. And there you go again.
SPEAKER_03Sorry about that, guys. Ladies, gentlemen. Conspiracy theories about Area 51 blossomed in the 1980s when a man who allegedly worked in or worked at the insulation claimed the US government was auditing recovered alien aircraft over the years, and theories include Area 51 being used for weather manipulation and the development of energy weapons and exotic systems, as well as the storage and reversing engineering of aliens spacecraft. Very little information is available from the government regarding Area 51. Keep in mind that Area 51 is not a tourist attraction, although you can find it on the map. Don't expect to even get remotely closed. The permitir.
SPEAKER_01Perimeter?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, permit.
SPEAKER_01Perimeter.
SPEAKER_03Of the military base is marked with orange post and patrol by heavily armed guards with zero tolerance for shenanigans.
SPEAKER_01Well, we definitely tolerate shenanigans over here.
SPEAKER_03Signage around the base promises Delhi Force is authorized against Area 51 trespaters, whether they are attempting to storm Area 51 meme or hiking up to a vantage point. Thousands upon thousands of CCTV cameras and monitors, sensors all throughout the land leading up to the base to the base's permit.
SPEAKER_01Perimeter.
SPEAKER_03Guarantee it immediate response times from security forces. The closest town to Area 51 is Rachel, Nevada, which is the most famous stop for alien enthusiast on the externalist highway and roughly 150 miles from Las Vegas. Alien conspiracy theories and UFO sightings at Area 51 since the 1950s. Silver State skis have produced countless reports of underified objects accelerating to high speeds to perform strange aerial maneuvers because the development of prototype aircraft was classified and many mystified people assumed the never before seen technology have come from another planet. There have been no confirmed sightings of flying saucers or alien life forms at Area 51 yet. However, many conspiracy theories and claimed UFO sightings about Nevada in 1989. Bob Lazarus famously claimed that he was part of the classified government project to reverse engineer alien spacecraft that was housed in Area 51. While Lazar was later discredited, it has sparked many conspiracy theories about the extraterrestrial and secrets of Area 51 may hold. Then how Area 51 got its name. The history has never been confirmed, but it is alleged Area 51 has got its name from the Atomic Energy Commission AEC. The AEC oversaw the Nevada test site, which was mapped using a grid of number squares while there was no Area 51 on the grid, is soon to be secretized site border area 51. Say same to 51, or some say the 15 was flipped, creating Area 51, while others believed 51 chosen simply because the VIRA test site mapping grid was unlikely to reach such high numbers. Of course, the UFO folklore, government acknowledgement. But do you have anything else to add?
SPEAKER_01Just going back on the whole World War II um involvement with Area 51, I did find that kind of like you said, it was used for Air Force reasons, but it was more used as like um it said uh gunnery range for training pilots. And it wasn't necessarily labeled until 1950, what was it, 1955, you said? But yes, it was used for training pilots still, even then.
SPEAKER_03Yep, but that would be all for this one, guys. Ladies and gentlemen, and excuse me for this.
SPEAKER_01Excuse you. Well, there may not be any shenanigans going on in the area 51, but there certainly is here it goes to gowl. I hope you guys have a fantastic St. Paddy's Day and a wonderful week. And we will see you back next Monday.
SPEAKER_03Bye.
