365 DAYS of COURAGE, STRENGTH & FAITH DAILY SCRIPTURE • DECLARATION • PRAYER WITH JIM HANNAHS
Welcome to Daily Courage — a Scripture declaration journey by Jim Hannahs.
Every day we speak one biblical truth.
Because identity is shaped by repetition.
Because the word you say,
is the word your heart learns to believe.
So breathe deeply.
Slow down.
Say this with faith:
“Speak truth. Write transformation. Live courage.”
Let’s begin Day 1

"Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding."

Welcome to 365 Days of Courage, Strength, and Faith. I'm Jim Hannes. Thank you for allowing me to spend a few moments with you today. No matter where this episode finds you, whether you're beginning your morning, driving to work, taking a walk, or simply searching for a little encouragement, I believe God has something He wants to remind you of today. My prayer is that these next few minutes will strengthen your faith, renew your courage, and remind you that you never face life alone. Before we begin, take one slow deep breath. Breathe in God's peace and slowly breathe out every worry you've been carrying. Again, breathe in God's presence and exhale out every fear. Let's quiet our hearts together as we turn our attention to God's Word. Scripture for day two hundred and sixty four is found in Proverbs chapter three verse five. Trust in the Lord with all thine heart, and lean not unto thine own understanding. Take a slow deep breath, and as you breathe in, receive God's presence. As you breathe out, release your need to understand everything. Some seasons are difficult because they're painful. Other seasons are difficult because they're confusing. You prayed, you obeyed, you tried to do the right thing, and still things don't make sense. If you're there today, this message is for you. You can trust God before you understand God. There is a reason Proverbs tells us not to lean entirely upon our own understanding. Our understanding is limited. We know part of the story, God knows all of it. We see the moment, God sees eternity. We see what happened, God sees what happened, what is happening, what will happen, and everything we cannot see connecting those moments. This doesn't make confusion easy. There are times when we genuinely want to ask, God, what are you doing? Job understood that question. His life changed dramatically. Loss came from multiple directions, and much of what happened made no sense from Job's perspective. Job asked questions. He grieved, he wrestled, he lamented. Scripture does not portray him as an emotionless man smiling through catastrophe. He hurt. Faith does not mean you will never ask questions. Faith means your questions do not become the only thing holding your relationship with God together. There is a difference between asking God why and saying, unless you explain this, I will no longer trust you. Sometimes we receive explanations, sometimes we don't. And eventually every believer encounters places where faith must rest, not in an explanation, but in God's character. This is where trust becomes deeper. You remember, God has been faithful before, God is still good, God still loves me, God is still present, God's word remains true. And therefore, even though I cannot make sense of this moment, I will not abandon what I know about God because of what I don't understand about my circumstances. Imagine looking at the back of a tapestry. Threads cross everywhere, knots appear, collars seem disconnected. From the back it looks chaotic. Turn it around, and there is a picture. We are often living behind the tapestry. We see threads, God sees the picture. That doesn't mean every painful thread was something God desired, but he is a redeemer. He can weave even broken threads into something meaningful. So when nothing makes sense, return to what you know. You know God loves you. You know Christ died for you. You know his mercy is new every morning. You know he has promised never to leave nor forsake his people. You know nothing can separate you from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus. Build your faith on what you know while you wait for understanding about what you don't. Let's take a moment and breathe in, Lord, I trust you, and as we exhale, even when I don't understand, breathe in, Lord, I trust you. Exhale even when I don't understand. Do that again. Breathe in, Lord, I trust you. Exhale even when I don't understand. Today's affirmation I do not need every explanation to trust God's character. God is present in my confusion. His faithfulness is greater than my understanding. I can bring him my questions without abandoning my faith. I trust what I know about God while I wait concerning what I don't understand. Today's declaration. Today I will not allow confusion to become unbelief. I will ask honest questions, I will bring my plan to God, I will remain close to His Word, and when understanding fails me, I will lean upon His character. Today's reflection question. What situation in your life makes the least sense right now? What truth about God's character can become your anchor while the questions remain unanswered? If this podcast has encouraged you, strengthened your faith, or simply helped you to take one more step forward, would you consider supporting the show financially? Your support helps us continue creating daily encouragement, scripture-based teaching, and resources designed to bring hope to weary hearts. There's absolutely no pressure. Thank you for being a part of this community, and thank you for helping us continue sharing hope one day and one person at a time. And as always, keep walking forward. Let's pray. Father, there are things I do not understand. There are questions I cannot answer. There are circumstances I would change if I could. I bring all of them to you. I don't want to pretend. I don't want shallow answers. I simply want your presence. When my understanding runs out, help my trust continue. Remind me of your faithfulness, remind me of your love, remind me that you have carried me before. Hold me when I don't know what to believe about the circumstances, and help me continue believing what your word has revealed about you. I trust you with my unanswered questions. In Jesus' name, amen. Today's courage challenge. Take one unanswered question and write it down. Then underneath it, write three things you do know about God. For example, God loves me, God is with me, God is faithful. Then say aloud, I don't understand this, but I know who holds me while I walk through it. You don't need to solve everything today. Trust Him today. Take the next step and keep walking forward. Thank you for joining me today for another episode of 365 Days of Courage, Strength, and Faith. If today's message has encouraged your heart, consider sharing it with someone who may need this same reminder today. And as you go, remember this. God has not called you to live in fear. He has called you to walk by faith, one step at a time, one promise at a time, one day at a time. Until tomorrow, keep your eyes on Jesus, stand firm in his promises, and walk boldly in his strength, and never forget the God who walks with you today is already waiting in your tomorrow. God bless you, my friend. I'll meet you again tomorrow for another episode of 365 Days of Courage, Strength, and Faith.
