All right, guys. Um we're back. We're uh S1 E6. We were just chatting before. Now now it's actually official. If we can put that stuff back. Take these Joe's notes. Try to prepare next time.
SPEAKER_06Headings.
SPEAKER_05So we're uh yeah, we're in episode six. How's everybody doing? We are we have our Guinness here because it is we're filming this on March 16th. Tomorrow is St. Paddy's Day, so we figure we'd do we've done a Christmas episode which went off the rails. So we're gonna do a St. Paddy's Day episode. At least in this point. Yeah. You'll be listening to this in June. Um but how's everybody? Chris, how's good? How's life?
SPEAKER_09Top of the merin into you.
SPEAKER_05Don't do that. Don't do that again.
SPEAKER_08He was ready for that one, though.
SPEAKER_05We got uh Joe's mic is in front of him. We got some feedback last time. He was a little can't really understand him anyway, but so if he's sitting on the bench back there, then you can definitely not understand what he's saying. He needs to be involved. This is the only reason why people are listening.
SPEAKER_09Actually, it is probably one of the most reasonable for it. It is so we need him so. Joe's funny, though. Yeah, we hear that a lot.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_09That is very true. That's the feedback we're getting.
SPEAKER_05So well, we're gonna do a um, I mean, just classic podcast thing. We're gonna do a draft today. We've we've done a guest, now we're doing a draft, we're just hitting all these buzz podcast situations.
SPEAKER_08Cliche.
SPEAKER_05And uh yeah, cliche. And our topic today is 80s movies. Yeah. So what we're gonna do is we're gonna go around, we're each gonna you know draft a draft a movie. We'll keep track of it. Obviously, you can't draft the same movie twice. We'll argue about what um why you picked it or why would you ever want to watch that movie. And um I think it'll be fun. And then we'll finish with our loving and hating again. Again, award-winning. Loving and hating. People are loving it. People are hating it.
SPEAKER_04That's the best part of it. It's award season. So On the movie, I feel like every fantasy football draft I've ever been to show up, every guy's got notes, notebooks, and I got nothing.
SPEAKER_06You got nothing.
SPEAKER_04But are we going eighties like our favorite movie when it was the eighties and we watched it? A m a movie that was in the 80s.
SPEAKER_09Oh, like you can't watch a movie that was filmed in the 70s in the 80s. Animal House was in the 70s.
SPEAKER_07Okay, yeah, yeah. All right, right.
SPEAKER_09But you probably watched it obviously in the 80s.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, right.
SPEAKER_04Perfect point. Yeah, say Oh, I wouldn't how the duck loved it. How the duck is an 80s movie. When I was like, you know, eight or something. But how but it's an 80s movie. Was it? So it's an 80s movie.
SPEAKER_05But are we going like that or like well, so this is what we'll do. We'll draft it based on what you want to pick.
SPEAKER_04And then we'll let the people I'm going with when I was there.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. We're gonna let the people then vote on who had the best draft.
SPEAKER_04So we'll each have we'll each have five movies on our team. And no, in comedies, dramas, everything. Everything you want.
SPEAKER_05So you're looking at it and you're putting it together, and then we'll we'll put it out there, and then you can say, uh, Chris had the best one or Joe had the best draft based on what people think. So it's whatever you think, whatever 80s movie, whatever reason it is. Right. Because I'll be honest, I mean, guys, I'm a little younger than you guys. I figured. I kind of thought you might struggle with this. So when I'm looking at these movies, the what the my favorite movies are like a little younger. A little younger. It's funny.
SPEAKER_09I'm glad you said that because I was thinking about that. This kind of tells you where you are in time as part of this. And you yes, you being younger, you might appreciate some of mine that I got on the list.
SPEAKER_05Um, so you know what we'll do? We're gonna just we're gonna spin uh we're gonna spin the uh wild card. Spin the bottle. Okay, we could do that a wild card. Spin the bottle. So wherever it goes to. All right, so Chris, you have first pick, then it goes to Joe, and then it goes to me, and then I get two picks, so it's a snake draft. So it doesn't.
SPEAKER_09Oh, okay. You get two and then it comes to a couple. And then it comes back. Yes, it does. Now that I'm gonna go.
SPEAKER_05So Chris, you I'll I'll keep track here. Okay. And then we'll put it together afterwards.
SPEAKER_09So this is no particular order then.
SPEAKER_05You it's it's me. It's you it's your five, basically. It's mine.
SPEAKER_04Okay.
SPEAKER_09So I'm gonna go five.
SPEAKER_04One would be the best one. Like let's say you are the number one. You have the number one.
SPEAKER_09I'm going I'm going roadhouse. Oh, nice. Great.
SPEAKER_04I watched that the other day. It's always on.
SPEAKER_09It's always on. But you gotta watch, you gotta you can't watch it on TNT though.
SPEAKER_08No, I know.
SPEAKER_09Because there's some scenes in there that are just like rips the throat right at them. Oh, yeah. Yeah. And then there's some other scenes.
SPEAKER_05I mean, if you're into violence, but uh, but I think with streaming now, it's like you get to watch all these movies. Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_09And this is the original Roadhouse, not the new one. The new one's terrible. No, that's not in the 80s.
SPEAKER_04So even give that, it's like Gladiator 2. No, I won't even watch it. I don't respect that. Well, Gladiator 2. I didn't see that either. That that just looked Roadhouse 2.
SPEAKER_09How could they make remake Roadhouse? Because it's boring, everything's boring to make. Yeah, there's nothing to make. Um but I mean there's some great.
SPEAKER_05All right, so that's the that's the number one pick overall is Roadhouse. Right now. I would not doubt it. What do you mean right now? That's the number one pick. You had the number one pick.
SPEAKER_04Fancy football draft. I think all my movies are gonna be available.
SPEAKER_09So I mean I even had notes on it, too. I mean, this is a good one. I mean, what would then use them? Jeff Haley band. Right? I mean, he was there's the band that played in the movie. A lot of karate. Yeah, a lot of bar fights. I mean, that's what the movie's about.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, but I mean, so that's that's it.
SPEAKER_09That was great.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, that's gratuitous um you know nudity and whatnot.
SPEAKER_09Oh, yeah, yeah, there was a lot of that in there, too. So kids watch it. Kids watch it. We know kids are listening. I think that's basically ironics. Right. So all you high school kids, watch Roadhouse, the original one, Patrick Swayze. Be nice. Stalton, a legendary bouncer hired to clean up a notoriously violent bar, the double deuce. Look at you printing. Wow. Did you type the uh top of mind?
SPEAKER_03Top of mind.
SPEAKER_05All right, Joe, movie fools in impressive. Joe's first pick, second pick overall. Off the head. No notes, Nej. Yeah, no. We only said it five times, though.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, Rocky II, Rocky III, and Rocky IV. Rocky III was just awesome because it had Thunder Lips and McD, you know. Are you picking Rocky III of all the Rockys? No, just the 80s is the 80s. And then Rocky. Well, Rocky Four is 87. Uh I know my uh I didn't know.
SPEAKER_05No, but Rocky but so Rocky V is ninety. So it's just Rocky III. You could just say the Rocky one through four. You could take the series.
SPEAKER_04No, because uh one and two is one was the seventies, right? Yeah. Yeah, I see what you get. All right, so maybe just pick four. So actually I did prepare a little bit. I knew that. So you'll take you'll take three and four to two. I'm saying would that be? What do we that's which one would you pick? I would take Rocky three over I wouldn't. I'm saying if I could get a two for one together, yeah, that'd be an all-time.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, because I don't think I don't think we should I don't think if he takes four, then I'm gonna say I'm gonna take Rocky III. Yeah, I don't know. I think you got Rocky.
SPEAKER_04I think you got the series. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Rocky III and four. We're gonna say Rocky.
SPEAKER_04We might go Ramble. Oh, but that's it. Okay, sorry, sorry. I think I've I'll go damn it now. Don't do that. Stallone fan. All right. There's a lot of Stallones in the 80s. Yeah, there is. I'll go I'll go the Rockies. All right. So we're gonna say Rocky three and four. Three, four. Because that's eighty two and eighty-seven. So it'll be I mean height of the cold war.
SPEAKER_09I mean, yeah.
SPEAKER_05I I I can't go with some of the ones I want to do. I gotta wait. I can't, it's gonna be a little later. I I am young. I am young with some of these ones that I've got. Oh, you're afraid to pick up.
SPEAKER_04That's kind of funny. Have you not seen Rocky yet? No, no, no, no, no, no.
SPEAKER_09He might be going Christmas movies or something. Oh now, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, I mean that's pretty much what it is, but uh I'm gonna go karate kid.
SPEAKER_09Oh, yeah, that's gonna go karate kid. I kind of was looking at that one. Yeah, yeah. I feel like I think that's a safe one.
SPEAKER_05No, that's like uh should have been probably because my grandmother had HBO, my parents, I think I don't even know if I had cable, but I would just go over there and I feel like rock, I mean uh care Karate Kid was just always on HBO.
SPEAKER_04Now do you automatically get Karate Kid too? Because that's gonna hurt your list. No, no.
SPEAKER_05I'm just sticking with Karate Kid. I'm sticking with just Karate Kid, the original one. But I'll tell you, I love that I actually didn't hate the whole remake they did on Netflix. That series was kind of That was awesome. They did the flashbacks, they did a nice job of something.
SPEAKER_09It was so awful. Remember the scene he's in the in the in the Netflix series? He's in the because now he sells cars, and the guy comes in and he kicks the coffee cup out of his hand. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_04Johnny played the perfect villain. Oh, he does. Even uh 40 years later.
SPEAKER_05I feel like it's almost I think I liked it more because I felt bad for um Ralph Machio. I feel like he was then the butt of everyone's joke for about 30 years and then he got back. And it seems like he gave got the respect he need respect that he needed. He probably had a lovely career too, though. I mean, he's probably I mean, I'd love to know how much he's still making off the Crowdie Kids series in general anyway. That's good point. You don't think so.
SPEAKER_04You know what? That's pretty new. I don't know. I don't think so. My kind of my cousin Vinnie had um he definitely had a stop.
SPEAKER_09I know. I mean, stop looking at my notes. Yeah.
SPEAKER_07Cheetah.
SPEAKER_05Oh, so it goes back to me though. Oh, yeah. Yeah, so you got two picks there. Um I'm gonna go uh I'm gonna go Major League.
SPEAKER_09Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_05Later, later in the 80s. Yeah. As I was going through it, I if I had a guess off the top of my head, I would have thought that was 9091. So when I saw 89, I was like, all right, that's good. I agree. But I watched that the other day.
SPEAKER_09I love that movie. Yeah. That's a great one. Charlie Sheen movie, right? Great.
SPEAKER_05Oh, Charlie Sheen. What a great, what a great guy. I mean, just great decisions he's made.
SPEAKER_04I had a few notes on him, and maybe some of the movies I would pick. Again, if you got saddled with the sequel, that's gonna hurt you like it. I'm sticking just with the original. I'm just going with the original.
SPEAKER_05There's not. Yeah, but I thought Major League League. It was just so funny. So funny. That's a two good. All right, so those are my so back to you, Joe.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, you're up. I mean, you've mentioned about nine movies in this whole when we're talking. I'm gonna show us what's the 70s actually. We knew this was gonna be.
SPEAKER_05I mean, how many times do you say, hey, just you gotta prepare for this one?
SPEAKER_04You gotta prepare for this one. If people like horror movies, they do like horror movies. Any genre up there. Is that what you're doing? No. Again, stop talking through it. You can't talk through it.
SPEAKER_09Was Friday the 13th, though, an 80s movie?
SPEAKER_04Or was that 70. Oh, was it? Okay. And then uh Nightmare in Elm Street, I think it was 84.
SPEAKER_05But it is an 80s movie, but it was sitting next to Rain Man over here.
SPEAKER_02I mean, which wouldn't be 86?
SPEAKER_05I'll take Rain Man.
SPEAKER_08I'm thinking that might come on. We're gonna cheat for them. Oh, we're gonna have to cheat for him. You going Rayman? Are you going Rainman? Oh, I go Rain. Yeah, that's a great movie.
SPEAKER_09You're our Rayman. Rain Man. Do you remember how many of the um 382 toothpicks?
SPEAKER_04Toothpicks for yeah, that was gonna be my trivia. That was gonna be it. Oh, and Traffic Thunder. Great scene.
SPEAKER_05Oh that's again stuff we can't really, you know. Seems like you can't talk about anymore, but he went full uh special needs. That's it. No, he didn't. No, he didn't. That's why that's why he was up for the Oscar. Cheetah guys got two pants. All right, Chris, back to you. You got two here.
SPEAKER_09Oh, I do. Oh, great. This is kind of perfect. All right. I'm gonna start off with three o'clock high. Oh, great movie. Right? Three o'clock high? Yeah, oh yeah. To be honest with you, I've never seen three o'clock high. So this is a tough one. A lot of people have not. All right. Teen comedy drama. High school nerd, Jerry Mitchell.
SPEAKER_05Right up my alley.
SPEAKER_09He's challenged to a fight by a you know new student out of town, a Buddy Revell. Is this karate kidding? This is a classic 80s movie.
SPEAKER_08Oh, any 80s movie. He moves in, gets in a fight with a bull. Okay.
SPEAKER_09He moves in, but see, this would never happen today because the whole thing starts with him. Jerry Mitchell, who actually I thought you'd actually appreciate.
SPEAKER_04Who this guy was? In the um Casey Sismasco. Bathhouse. What do they call it? Bathhouse.
SPEAKER_02Oh, yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_09But this guy runs the school store, so you might appreciate this gib. Oh, okay. Oh yeah. Rich Richard Tyson. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, exactly. Yep. He's a good bad guy.
SPEAKER_09So he's the bad guy.
SPEAKER_05Jeffrey Tambor is in this? Yeah. Paul Fig. He's in a ton of movies.
SPEAKER_09I don't have those guys listed down there.
SPEAKER_04So if you see his face, I don't know who uh that's an older picture of him, but Paul Walkerhauser in there. I know. Paul. What was that guy's name? The guy Galuly.
SPEAKER_05My butt, my buddy, uh, my buddy Dunny uh he sent us the message on the update on it. We were Joe was right on it.
SPEAKER_09I liked it.
SPEAKER_05No, this is uh I gotta watch this movie. Oh, this is like How have I not seen this movie?
SPEAKER_01Look at these themes bullying, fist fight, standing up for oneself.
SPEAKER_09It had the remember the ending with the brass knuckles he busts out? Oh yeah. It's like people these kids wouldn't even know what to do nowadays. First of all, he challenges to a fight. So that's the great thing. It's one day. It's like one day at the time. It's a whole day. So he's like that's what it's based on. He's in the in the morning, he's in the bathroom. The kid walks in, he meets him, and he goes, Hey, nice to meet you. Welcome to the school. Hits him on the arm. It just upsets this guy's apple cot. So he's like, Me and you are gonna fight today at three o'clock. Oh man. And the whole day is this kid shitting his pants that he's gonna get into a fight. So he tries to get out of the fight the whole day. Hires, remember he hires like the jock? Yeah, yeah. So like tells him. I think he paid him. I think he stole money from the school store to pay the guy to beat up the this new guy, and the guy kicks his ass in the library. And it's a hilarious scene because he hits the money.
SPEAKER_04And took the money. I'm probably gonna watch this tonight. I know now we just gave it away.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, no, yeah, right, right. Well, at the end he wins. And there's the plot twist.
SPEAKER_05Wait, I would have been so shocked by that ending.
SPEAKER_04And you'll never guess what weapon he used.
SPEAKER_05Apple TV. It's three bucks. Oh, it is? I might watch it.
SPEAKER_04I thought it'd be free. I thought that'd be free too. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Amazon Prime, it's three bucks too. YouTube, three bucks. Oh, four bucks. No, $3.99. Sorry, not three bucks, $3.99 across the board.
SPEAKER_06I didn't know I could watch that one.
SPEAKER_0560% on Rotten Tomatoes.
unknownHuh.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, it's one of those like cult classics.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, it's terrible. But like you watch it.
SPEAKER_05Um, all right. Well, I mean, I'm watching, I'm look looking at the trail. I've never even came across my one.
SPEAKER_07Yeah.
SPEAKER_05This is I mean, this is already working out for me.
SPEAKER_04I'm already graduated like 92 to 94. Yeah, that was a stable. This is an 80s 87. Oh, it's an 87. Oh, that was a great one. I'll throw another one at you.
SPEAKER_09I was six years old. That you uh that you well, all right. So then all right, so that's your that's your two pick. What's number three? So three that was three o'clock high, right? So the next one, Can't Buy Me Love.
SPEAKER_05Can't buy me love.
SPEAKER_09Yeah. Just get my notes on that one.
SPEAKER_04I mean, that's just a classic. Have you seen that one? Classic. Oh, yeah. I've seen that one.
SPEAKER_09Cindy Mancini.
SPEAKER_04Oh, yeah. No, I know her name in the movie. Oh, she wasn't like an Elizabeth Schuer. Oh, what was her real name?
SPEAKER_09Amanda Peterson. Seth Green was in the movie. Patrick Dempsey makes the movie. Oh, Patrick Dempsey's like the main guy, right? Yeah, it's McDreamy in it. McDreamy. It's a teenager.
SPEAKER_05How about McSteamy? He passed away. That was sad. McSteamy. You ever watch Grey's Anatomy? No. There's another guy. I mean, he he deserved the name. He did deserve the name. Seth Green, man. I mean, how old was he in that movie? 1987? He was the little brother. Yes, yes, yes.
SPEAKER_09Yeah. So he was young. Yeah. But it's a great plot, right? He he takes the grand, he earns money, and $1,000 to from cutting lawns. Yep. And then instead of um instead of buying the telescope, he goes and bribes the girl. It's awesome.
SPEAKER_04Yep. Takes a money. A couple other great scenes in that movie, though.
SPEAKER_09A lot of high school weirdness. Whatever. And then Cindy dates the uh kid goes off to college, Bobby.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, yeah, yeah. No. And then that's always what happens. The friends get mad at him. Yeah. Oh, who's that dude? He was in Children of the Corn or something. One of his buddies. Oh, Bobby was in Children of the Corn? No, one of his friends that he call their what they call their uh sweat. Like King of the Dipshirts or something. I forget. That might be a weird sense. Here we go. Great movie, though. Oh, I just thought one. Alright, so I'm out. Yeah. You're up, Tom. Do I get two shots?
SPEAKER_05No, you just get it. You're the middle guy. You're the middle guy. I will say.
SPEAKER_04How many do we have left?
SPEAKER_05So this is your this is your third movie. We have five. So you have three movies. I mean we could go six rounds. This is going kind of quick with three rounds. We can kind of make up the rules as we go. Why don't we go um we should do six? Six. Yeah.
SPEAKER_04I got tons of movies. Yeah, we should go six. Let's go six. There's so many. There's too many good movies. That's the problem. Yeah, I know. I thought we would have liked to go over a little bit though.
SPEAKER_05Going going through this, you do realize how really the movies, how well the movies were. I mean how fun the movies were. To right now. It's like you stop, you just put 80s movie and you look at a top 50 list, and you're like, holy crap, all 50 of them. Look at these are great.
SPEAKER_04If you go and watch them again, you realize, oh, this one is awesome, but it isn't as good as Commando. I was thinking Commando, Donald Schwarzenegger. Trevor Burrus, Jr.: He just keeps firing out. When you pick a movie, like Samuel. But I'll take First Blood one and two. Rambo. Rambo.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. I like the first one.
SPEAKER_04The first one was pretty good. Yeah. Rambo's the main one. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05But you're taking the two. You're taking it as a guy.
SPEAKER_04Wait, was the first one called Rambo or called First Blood?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, right.
SPEAKER_05Rambo series kind of. That's I think that's a good thing.
SPEAKER_01It's definitely the Stallone fan, huh? First Blood Part 2. Oh yeah, shit. Oh Stallone movies already.
SPEAKER_02Cobra will be next. Over the top. Great movie is like.
SPEAKER_04Stop saying the movies. I don't think that'll be top five. Never know. They're not my top five, so I don't give a shit.
SPEAKER_09I don't think I have a Stallone movie on my body.
SPEAKER_04I have Stallone movies on. Don't shoot. I just was writing writing them all down. Don't shoot.
SPEAKER_05Don't shoot. Oh, is it don't shoot mom? No.
SPEAKER_04Something. It was like had a mom in it and don't shoot.
SPEAKER_05Don't shoot the babysitter or something?
SPEAKER_04Don't shoot. Oh, what is it?
SPEAKER_09I don't know. But it was a But the baby. Yeah, what was that babysitter movie? Was that from the baby?
SPEAKER_04That could be a top five of the babysitter. That's really good.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. Now there's gonna the Don't Don't Stop or My Mom will shoot.
SPEAKER_05Stop or my Mom should be a little bit.
SPEAKER_04And the lady from Golden Girls was the mom. Yep. Which lady? The oldest lady. 1992 Stop or My Mom will shoot. Yeah, Estella or Estelle or something like that.
SPEAKER_05I wonder what's the first one that's is this Stallone's first one where he went away from like the killing and the like the mainstream movie.
SPEAKER_04Was that him or Travolta, maybe? Yeah, I thought that was Travolta. I did say Roy Robson's thing. Sweet Caroline stuff.
SPEAKER_09I might be wrong. Oh, what would be Stallone's first movie outside of the outside of that movie?
SPEAKER_05The problem is that when you look up the movies here on Google, they don't put them in order.
SPEAKER_04Better if we go off. I've never had any. I can just make shit up. Get fact checked.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, yeah, yeah. We'll look it up after.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, true. I mean, don't uh Oscar was 1991. I have never seen that, but that seems like one of those movies. It's a troll. I mean, uh Stallone. It's a Stallone's in it, yeah. It's called Oscar. That was ninety one. I never even heard of that movie. Yeah. But that looks like one of those. There's probably an Oscar two in here.
SPEAKER_09Oscar five.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, it looks like Oscar was 91 and then shooting about, huh? Or stop or uh My Mom Will Shoot is uh the the other one. That's probably obviously the more popular one. That looks like the start of him being uh No no no.
SPEAKER_04Like he's like I could do this, yeah, then people's still gonna watch.
SPEAKER_05Yes, I'm gonna that's probably I get I would bet he made more money on that dumb movie than the one that's gonna rock the series. Yeah, right. Was he a grouch maybe?
SPEAKER_09I mean, what was that to be about? Oscar Oscar.
SPEAKER_05I thought he was hanging from a clock or something on a video on an Oscar.
SPEAKER_09Again, we're just talking, we have no idea what we're talking about.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, Olympics. Which I thought I thought might be some points on the Olympics.
SPEAKER_04Why do I just my guess is he was hanging from in Oscar Globe, like the don't look it up now. Your guess was what? Oscar the Grouch? No, mine was a clock. I was I saw it though. It's a clock. I'm blind as a bad shit.
SPEAKER_05Mr. Magoo. It was uh it was twelve percent on Rotten Tomatoes.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, it had to be awful.
SPEAKER_05Um Bags of Loot and His daughter's love life can confuse a gangster. So that's a stallone. A day he plans to go legitimate. Oh, wow. Sounds good.
SPEAKER_09Oh, and he did not be a far away. Sounds incredible.
SPEAKER_05Alright. So I got two here. I'm going to go.
SPEAKER_04You've got to have some of the ones I'm thinking.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, I know.
SPEAKER_04I mean, this could go, but we could do top 20s, I'd say. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, no, there's some really good movies here. And there's some that I I really want to say, but I don't want to because I'm going to be made fun of, but it's like reminds me of my dad. Yeah. I'm going to wait. Never ending story. But I'm going to go.
SPEAKER_03Never ending story still available.
SPEAKER_05That is not on it, but I have a close one. A really close one. You know what will be better? I love that movie. We'll talk about the ones that didn't make the list after.
SPEAKER_08Yeah. Yeah, that maybe they should have.
SPEAKER_05Yes. I'm going to go.
SPEAKER_09Um I mean, mine are more classic.
SPEAKER_05All right. I'm going to go back to the future.
SPEAKER_09All right. Yeah, yeah, that. Yeah, I was waiting for that one to come up. That is a great one. And you can take the series. I don't know if it's all 80s. Probably not.
SPEAKER_01In a long run, it would bring it down. But 85. Back to the future was 85. Yeah, that was on my list.
SPEAKER_05I don't know if Back to the Future 2 was in the 80s. I was looking at that.
SPEAKER_04Back to 2 was, but maybe 89 and then it was pretty close. Oh, great movie. Yeah. But that was But I had all my notes on that one too.
SPEAKER_05What do you got?
SPEAKER_04I mean, oh, that's our first one that was kind of stolen.
SPEAKER_05If I thought of that, I would have definitely No, actually, Back to the Future 2 was 89. And then 3 was 90. Yeah. Real quick. I tried it.
SPEAKER_06That got awful, though. So bad.
SPEAKER_05Well, was the ending? It was I feel like that was for me the first time I watched a movie where it ended and you knew there was going to be a part two. Where they like left you on that cliffhanger and they're like, oh wait, there's definitely going to be a part two. And then it's like, wait, I have to wait three years for this. But that was four years to the second one.
SPEAKER_09Was it that? Oh, yeah, right. Right.
SPEAKER_05It was 85 to 89. But then but the third one was 90, it was right away. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03But they jumped the shock on it. Yeah. Right. I mean, it got a little weird.
SPEAKER_09I had the Johnny Bagod song on that one. The Enchanted Under the Sea Dance. It's just great.
SPEAKER_05I mean, the fact that his mother was hitting the top of the person. Yeah, right. There's some weird stuff that happened, though.
SPEAKER_09Huey Lewis and the news in that one.
SPEAKER_05Huey Lewis in the news is just cranking up tunes. I feel like he's underrated. He should be respected more. No.
SPEAKER_09Maybe Huey.
SPEAKER_06Plutonium.
SPEAKER_09No, it's funny. That's that band. You listen to those songs and you're like, oh yeah, all right, I get that one. I had a Back to the Future skateboard. Remember that thing? You had it? Oh yeah. I had the skateboard.
SPEAKER_04That didn't come out till not a hoverboard, like two weeks ago. I wanted his uh sports gambling book, is what I wanted to do. Oh yeah. That was like the that in any time travel movie, I mean, that has to be consideration. Biff.
SPEAKER_07Biff.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, exactly. I mean, it was tough to not like. You ever see him? He's on YouTube and he does a song of like basically people coming up calling him Biff. You know, because he didn't do a ton of stuff after. Yeah. Um a ton of stuff that was. He probably did a lot, but we would never even know what it is. But that's what I mean. Anything that was actually good.
SPEAKER_09Thomas F. Wilson played me.
SPEAKER_04It was pretty funny.
SPEAKER_01So look it up.
SPEAKER_09But like this, I mean classics, right? Yeah, Michael J. Fox, Christopher Lloyd, Leah Thompson. Crispin Glover threw me off. Is he a famous actor? What is this? He was McFly, yeah. He was George. He was the first one.
SPEAKER_04Oh, he was in a handful of things. He's done stuff, but I don't think he's not a man.
SPEAKER_09Like even Leah Thompson kind of fell off, right? Like she was a big thing.
SPEAKER_00I think she was the benches and babysitting.
SPEAKER_05She was the and then No, was she? Yeah. No, it was no, it was what's her name that was in I can't say the movie because I'm gonna ruin stuff. No, not embarrassed.
SPEAKER_04Goonies?
SPEAKER_05Cocktail.
SPEAKER_04Oh, damn it. Yeah, isn't that Leah Thompson?
SPEAKER_05That's not Leah Thompson.
SPEAKER_04I knew Goonies was gonna be available, but one of my ultimate favorites. It's my my pick.
SPEAKER_05No, it's not. It's my pick. No, you don't have a pick yet.
SPEAKER_04Yes, I do. No, Gibbs get the pick. Why would you say that one? Gibbs got the pick. No, that thing sucked.
SPEAKER_09Oh, my movie's aren't even gonna come close to the book. Cocktail, though. That's right on the list.
SPEAKER_05Elizabeth Shu. Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Oh yeah, she was leaving Las Vegas. Yeah, no, but that's not our leader.
SPEAKER_05No, that's that that's she was in Adventures and Babysitter.
SPEAKER_09She played the younger mother, right? No, she was a babysitter. She was the girlfriend? No, no, back to the future. Oh, yeah. Leah Thompson?
SPEAKER_04That was makeup.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Right. Even if you could tell that he's coming to America. Mine and an Eddie Professor.
SPEAKER_09Mama's bigot? Mama's mama's house, you guys like that? More 90s.
SPEAKER_05Is Christopher Lloyd still alive?
SPEAKER_04Say barely.
SPEAKER_05We don't want to start. I mean, this worldwide podcast. We don't want to start. I can't believe he was a big thing.
SPEAKER_09How old do you think Leah Thompson is? Oh, she's gotta be. I bet you she's still alive. Producer Steve looking things up for us. I love it. 87. Thank you.
SPEAKER_05How old is she? She is 65, I believe.
SPEAKER_09Oh, Leah Thompson. Oh. You know why I'm thinking she's old in the movie, but right, makeup.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, dude, that's very good. Wait, did that's what you would think? Yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02She's like, my friend. That movie's 40 years old.
SPEAKER_03She aged so well.
SPEAKER_04That's what I just kind of did a quick math on that. I wonder if she looks like now. Yeah, the the I'm sure people look like that.
SPEAKER_05Man, she's done some horrible movies.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, she's like, she was in Jaws 3. Jaws 3, the 3D one. That was the worst. I mean, she's been in some good movies, I don't want to say because some are in the 80s.
SPEAKER_05Dennis the Menace.
SPEAKER_06I hated those movies.
SPEAKER_09Dennis the Menace?
SPEAKER_05You know what? She was in she was a little rascals. I remember that. She was in that. That was a good movie, too. That was a pretty good movie. I mean, I thought she was in much more.
SPEAKER_09I know. No. Because Elizabeth Shu probably took over and they were like, yeah.
SPEAKER_05They were just like a blonde white girl.
SPEAKER_04She had her own show for a while.
SPEAKER_05Leah Thompson? Oh, TV show?
SPEAKER_04She did? Like a must see TV type thing.
SPEAKER_05Oh. Caroline and the City.
SPEAKER_04That is something else I thought even named after her, and it was awful.
SPEAKER_05That was before Sex in the City. You know when you're not a good actor is when you're in Dancing with the Stars.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. But they can like make a comeback going on that. Some of those people can dance on that too.
SPEAKER_05Who made a comeback?
SPEAKER_04I did watch that a lot.
SPEAKER_09What's the guy?
SPEAKER_04The guy from uh the guy that's in the like Emmett Smith, Jerry Rice when they retired, went on it. No, but they make a but I'm just saying they were on TV. Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_09The Prince of Bel Air, the kid there. What's that guy's name? Yeah, yeah. Collins. What's his real name? Yeah.
SPEAKER_08Dudley. Yeah, he's awesome. He's a great dancer, too.
SPEAKER_04Dudley in Different Strokes, I think, wasn't he?
SPEAKER_08He was not.
SPEAKER_09No, he's definitely not in Different Strokes. Oh no.
SPEAKER_04Oh no, no, it's a different actor.
SPEAKER_09He might have been on Silver Spoons, maybe? He was on Silver Spoons, that's what I'm thinking of. Yeah, maybe. 100%.
SPEAKER_04And I think his name is. I feel like we're going down a road where you guys are just naming. Just saying things. It's like the Leah Thompson and when I was thinking of this. Elizabeth Shue conversation, but it just gets a little bit more. And Goonies in Raiders the Lost Act. Remember Short Round? Yeah. That was Dana and Goonies. Same actor. Oh yeah?
SPEAKER_02Alright, we've got to get back to this movie. You didn't do much movies. I'm gonna go the two huge movies.
SPEAKER_05I'm gonna stick with my huge movie theme. I'm gonna go Ghost Ghostbusters.
SPEAKER_07Okay, I like Ghostbusters, yeah.
unknownDamn it.
SPEAKER_05So I'm so now we are this is the start of round four. So that's my four. I've had four. Joe, back to you on your fourth movie.
SPEAKER_04I'll take Goodies.
SPEAKER_05Goonies.
SPEAKER_04The Lost Doc series. Just keep saying, yeah. If I had all those series and people had like ten movies to choose from, it's gonna kill you guys.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, this is gonna be the worst list, though. Yeah.
SPEAKER_04I mean it's so funny. But quantity. Quantity. So you got two. Yeah, you got two. Oh, I get two. I know. I could pick uh Ghostbuses are good, though.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, Ghostbuses is good. I'm surprised this one didn't get said yet. Ferris be off. Damn it. I was just gonna say that. You're looking at my notes. That's why.
SPEAKER_04And I knew Goonies wouldn't get taken until the end, but just we started talking about it. I gotta save this one too. He's cheap. Damn it. I was no, I swear. He can't see that. Oh, that's true. I forgot about that. Stallone was hanging from a clock right now.
SPEAKER_05He couldn't see it or listen because they said he's hanging from a clock.
SPEAKER_07It's about getting old. Oh man. Well, maybe. So Ferris Feelers Day off in that one.
SPEAKER_09Charlie Sheen was in that movie right at the end member. He was kind of the punk. Yep.
SPEAKER_03And um believe it or not, that was from Howard the Duck, isn't it? Who's that?
SPEAKER_05Whenever I think of that movie, I think of a Detroit Red Wings jersey. Oh yeah, right. Oh, yeah. He was in it the whole movie. The whole time, yeah.
SPEAKER_09But that was Charlie Sheen's kind of breakout role, too. Believe it or not. Was it? Was it his breakout role or like first breakout? Because he wasn't a I wouldn't say he was a breakout.
SPEAKER_04That was a cameo.
SPEAKER_09Yeah. No, but he kind of became famous.
SPEAKER_05No, it's probably not a hate. No one's no one's saying that, hey, that his big break was Ferris Bueller's day off. It was he that came out the same time he did Platoon.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_09And he was riding the high of Ferris Bueller's Day Off Little Thing, and then Platoon came out.
SPEAKER_05He actually tells a good story about that. I don't know what it is. I probably should have looked it up, but it talks about Putin's.
SPEAKER_04But what about Lucas and all that? I mean, he was a huge start.
SPEAKER_05They don't even put like when you when you Google when you Google uh Ferris Bueller's Day Off, he's not even in the Oh no, there he is. He is in the top. Not in the top.
SPEAKER_04It was a cool role, but I thought it was because everyone knew his dressing.
SPEAKER_09Oh, that was kind of like his thing.
SPEAKER_04So interesting.
SPEAKER_09Was that his first? No, not it wasn't his first, but that's where he became very famous because of that.
SPEAKER_01The outsiders, wasn't he?
SPEAKER_09No, he was not in the outside. No, he wasn't the outsiders. He was in younger. I think Emilio might have been an outside as a brother.
SPEAKER_05He was. Will you stop? What the fuck? How many pictures have left? Wait, wait. He was uh he was you know, hot shots. No, no, I'm just kidding. Paddu. Padu. I'm trying to look at what what his first one would have been. Was Platoon his first movie?
SPEAKER_09No way. Um no, but that was his first big movie. His first starring role. Yeah, yep, yep.
SPEAKER_01Platoon. What do you think? Yeah, Lucas is huge. I don't know what that was. What? Lucas.
SPEAKER_05I don't know what Lucas is either.
SPEAKER_04Leah Thompson in that as well, I think.
SPEAKER_05That's why it wasn't a hit. I don't even see it on his list here, Lucas.
SPEAKER_04No way.
SPEAKER_05I mean, again, I'm just going by Google, so I don't know.
SPEAKER_04Are you thinking of Martinsheen? No. That's the bottom of the movie.
SPEAKER_05Oh no, Lucas, 1986.
SPEAKER_04Huge movie.
SPEAKER_05He's a football movie?
SPEAKER_04No.
SPEAKER_05Look at this.
SPEAKER_04Coming of age, of course, like every movie in the 80s. No, but this guy sitting there. Ferris Behul's Day Off. He didn't think the guys see it? Lucas? Tell me you've never seen Lucas. Oh my gosh. A football movie from the 80s, terrible. It's the same girl from Goonies. I'll take them both. He did. Back them up.
SPEAKER_05In 1986, he did Ferris Beulah's Day Off, Lucas, and Platoon. They all three of them released in 86. Yeah.
SPEAKER_09But Ferris Beulah was probably there for a day. I mean, he didn't have much.
unknownRight?
SPEAKER_09He only had a lot of money. No, no, I'm saying, but all of them are. Yeah. Yeah. And then Platoon and Wells. Well, you're saying it's his big break. Yeah. This guy's saying Ferris Because he was getting put on the map, and then Platoon came out, so it was sort of all combined. You know what?
SPEAKER_03I'm going to write this down. There's no fucking way Ferris Beulah was the big break.
SPEAKER_05We're doing a Charlie Sheen uh talk next episode. We're going to follow up on Charlie. Right now? Oh, yeah. Well, it seems like you're getting most of them wrong. What kind of notes you got?
SPEAKER_09Oh, you know what his real name was? Emilio Estevez. Carlos Estevez.
SPEAKER_05Was Estevez Estevez was his name. That was his real name.
SPEAKER_07Carlos. Erwin Estevez made up names.
SPEAKER_05I just figured they didn't like each other, but they're close.
SPEAKER_07So was Martin She's his father?
SPEAKER_09Martin Sheen's his father, but Martin Sheen's name was Ramon Esteves. So they went Sheen and Emilio Chalk.
SPEAKER_04Charlie Sheen just was like, dude, I like that. I'm taking it.
SPEAKER_09So that's what exactly what he did. He kind of wrote off of the um wrote off the fame of his father.
SPEAKER_04Why would Emilio Estevez make it hot on himself?
SPEAKER_05I don't know.
SPEAKER_04I think you know what I mean. I think he wanted to get away from him.
SPEAKER_09Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Emilio Estevez is older than Charlie Sheen. Yeah, but Martin Sheen's dad picked out his name too. He based it on some archbishop that he knew, he said.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_09When I was talking to him the other day.
SPEAKER_05I think I saw something, and this is completely his big movie. This could be completely bullshit. I think that Charlie Sheen was offered Mighty Ducks. And Emilio took it. But you know what? I can't confirm that. I'm going to look it up. I think I saw that on like Instagram or something.
SPEAKER_04But every time I look at stuff, it just.
SPEAKER_09Didn't they come out? The team came out after that, right? Did that team come out in 92?
SPEAKER_05No, let's just let's not do that.
SPEAKER_03Did I pick? No, no, what about two picks?
SPEAKER_05Chris had Ferris Bueller's day off, and then we just went on a Charlie Sheen rant. Yeah, so you have another pick. You only have two movies left. Oh, I do? Okay. We're going to six. We're going to six.
SPEAKER_09Oh, that's tough.
SPEAKER_05Do I want to go to seven? I could go to the six. No, no, let's go to six. Let's go to six.
SPEAKER_09But I heard you say one. I don't know where to go with this. You know what? I might go Beverly Hills Cop.
SPEAKER_05Alright.
SPEAKER_09To me.
SPEAKER_05Beverly Hills Cop.
SPEAKER_04I'm going. Well, great movie. Let's not skip over talking about that. No, it is a great movie. Yeah, yeah. Eddie Murphy. Axel Foley. Axel Foley.
SPEAKER_09I forget what I was listening to.
SPEAKER_05They were talking about Eddie Murphy, and it's like he's great. But he has not done stand-up in like 30 years. And it's a guy like that. Like, why did why? Why wouldn't he do it?
SPEAKER_06I feel like he could do it now and he'd be hilarious. He'd kill.
SPEAKER_04He'd kill. Remember those specials he had where he had like the leather. You gotta think of it.
SPEAKER_05We were listening to those things on a tape. Yeah, yeah. Like you bought that at the record store and listened to a comedy.
SPEAKER_09I feel like that was on that on HBO though. I feel like it was maybe on HBO.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, no, you could watch it, but they also he is an album. Oh, you could listen to it. There's an album. Right, right. Quincy Records and Tapes. Shout out to Quincy Records and Tapes. Did you ever go there?
SPEAKER_09Yeah, I think I did go there. I'm trying to think. Did they have the comic books there too?
SPEAKER_05No. No. Napolis was on that strip. Oh, up there. Oh, yeah, yeah. Okay, yeah. Oh, what Napoli is a good thing. The comic show was closer to the Quincy Sun. We would get we get food right next to it. It wasn't Napolis. It was another place next to it. Was it the bar? No, it was like you just get food, like Buffalo Wings or whatever. No, Buff. Oh, I can't believe I can't. I don't know. It's gonna come to me, but take the bus in, Quincy Center, walk up to Quincy Center. 216. Grab well, you take the from the 216. 216 to Quincy Center. I don't know the business. And then uh you'd walk up to walk up to Quincy Center and you grab some food and you go to Quincy Records and Tapes and walk around. Get Wu-Tang.
SPEAKER_09So that would have been a cross.
SPEAKER_08It was a great time.
SPEAKER_09That's a cross from uh the joke shop. Joe Jack. Yeah, it was diagonal to the joke shop. Okay. Now, did you ever go to Taj? Remember that place? The coin card store stamped still that was still alive like uh two years ago.
SPEAKER_08It was still very old channels.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, but this place I think I think it was two brothers and a sister, and they just all hated each other. You'd walk in. You couldn't touch it. It was a card store. Yeah, but it was like the smallest thing in the world.
SPEAKER_05They were just definitely like trafficking drugs and that because there's no way you can make um make rent out. Alright, so that meant would be fun.
SPEAKER_09Well, Ted was just a little offhand clock. It was kind of close enough where the post stuff was.
SPEAKER_05Joe, your fifth movie.
unknownUh yeah.
SPEAKER_05So right now, just to follow, well, just Joe, you have Rocky three and four, Rain Man, um, Rambo's Rambo's. I got bullied into. And then you didn't. Well we just said it. You didn't.
SPEAKER_01Yes, one best picture.
SPEAKER_05And then the la your last pick was Goonies. So this is your fifth pick. He's going back to Stallone.
SPEAKER_04He's gonna hit the wealth. No, I'm gonna fast time to Richmond.
SPEAKER_09Okay, I had that on the list. Yep, good one.
SPEAKER_04That's a great one. That's a good one. Uh but Paris Beulah was gonna be my next pick. Uh okay. All right, all right. We're sharing that one, yeah. And I knew Goonies would be available to the end. I should have waited.
SPEAKER_09Oh, yeah. I got a couple on here that probably would never be thought of, taken.
SPEAKER_05I'm actually looking forward to us talking about the movies that we have written down that weren't taken.
SPEAKER_08Okay, yeah, I like that. That could carry on, yeah. Yeah. Just stop writing them down.
SPEAKER_05All right. So this I'm ending mine now. So I have my my last two. So I have Karate Kid, Major League, Back to the Future, Ghostbusters. Um great.
SPEAKER_08I know it's a much one of your pick, right?
SPEAKER_05I'm gonna go Field of Dreams.
SPEAKER_08Oh, I've had that too.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, it's a great one too. God damn it.
SPEAKER_05Look what happens when you just do a little research too. That's a great one. Yeah, you pick.
SPEAKER_09That's funny. I thought you were gonna pick a different one. Oh, you got two pick anyway. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_05This is my last pick, and I don't want because I feel like I have a really good list right now. Like the best, but um I I I I can go a different route and it might ruin my list because I don't think you guys might not like it. I feel like I'm gonna win this. But I rem it reminds me of the 80s. Like it's one of those movies I always watch. Short circuit.
SPEAKER_09Johnny Five. Let me see. Nope. Yeah, good movie.
SPEAKER_04If you gotta do that, go with E.T. Come on. Nope. I'm going to E.T. and I win this thing like hands down. Nope. I'm still doing it.
SPEAKER_05I had to do it. I had to do it. You never saw Shirts Short Circuit? Yeah. No, I think I did. Yeah, yeah. The robot guy? Yeah, the robot. Johnny 5. Yep.
SPEAKER_08But that's like AI. You just like to do that. No, it's not. Now no one's going to believe this podcast at all. We're all fake.
SPEAKER_04My guess with Robocop, man.
SPEAKER_05All right. I might have ruined my I right might have ruined my list, but I had to put it on it. It was like the first one I thought of. Yep. It reminds me of my childhood. Are you kidding? Yeah, that's fair. That's enough. Alright, Chris. Uh you're you got so you got one left, and Joe has one. Joe, right? Oh yeah, sorry, Joe. Joe.
SPEAKER_04What did um so we this is the final one. Remind me one more time who I have.
SPEAKER_05So you have Rockies, Rain Man, Rambo's, Goonies, and Fast Times at Ridgemont High.
SPEAKER_04Amazing list. What are you talking about? Name one bad movie on. I think I can name five. That's not fair. Goonies? Goonies and Fast Times at Ridgemont High. No way. I mean you throw in Raiders the Lost Dock in there and totally win. Just have the whole series? Yeah. But no. What was the one I was going to go for? You can play the Jeopardy music.
SPEAKER_02He's got it, Steve. Oh, I forgot about the sound effect.
SPEAKER_04It's a tough one.
SPEAKER_05We got some big ones here that we didn't.
SPEAKER_09I know. That's what I'm looking at too.
SPEAKER_05There's some really good ones.
SPEAKER_04Because there's like some classics. There's a lot. I mean, we hit a bunch of things. No, I know, yeah, but I'm just thinking. You're brainstorming out loud. Untouchables is what I want to go with. Again, just don't brainstorm. But it's my pick. I'm talking out loud here.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, but then you're just you might see you might pull it back. You might pull it back with a movie like that.
SPEAKER_04But you're like No, I could still take either of those movies. Yeah. But the way yours is going, like Untouchables is like. Yeah, it would be. I'm taking it because he wants it.
unknownNo.
SPEAKER_04Untouchables, are you taking it? Don't ever play poker with me. Yeah. Taking it. Untouchables. That was on my list, yeah. All right. Round it off. It's kind of cheesy. Untouchable?
SPEAKER_09Oh no, that's a great movie. I wouldn't go cheesy on that one. I mean, I think they're all cheesy. True, yeah. Untouchable.
SPEAKER_04That's what makes them the 80s. Well, they played that music throughout the whole thing. So that's the one directed that movie, too. Yeah, exactly. Sean Connery was in it. Class. Last movie, Chris.
SPEAKER_09Last movie. Last movie. You know what? I think I might go easy on this and just go footloose. I was gonna say footloose. Right. I mean, Kevin Bacon's been in 8,000 movies, great actor. Hasn't aged. Has not aged, right?
SPEAKER_05Something's not aged.
SPEAKER_09And then uh yeah. But what do you get for a bio here on Footloose? Musical drama. Ren McCormick. Harry in the hand is a Chicago teen. This is another thing I've kind of there's some correlation between a lot of these movies in Chicago. He was a Chicago teen. Yep, and he moves to a small town, conservative town, Beaumont, where dancing and rock music are banned by the local minister. Wow. I mean, does that not just set up for a great movie? I mean, yeah. High school's lacking the fact that um instead of fighting, these high school kids could just dance.
SPEAKER_05They could just dance on it.
SPEAKER_04Like the Jets and the Shracks. What's that? Uh West Side Story. West Side Story. Was that the 80s? In the 60s, it's the 60s.
SPEAKER_09And I think that was a play. Yeah, but it was a lot of movies. Major motion pictures.
SPEAKER_05All right, so let's rec let's recap here. Chris, Roadhouse. Great movie. Three o'clock high. I've never seen it. Uh Can't Buy Me Love. Ferris Buela's Day Off, Beverly Hills Cop and Footloose.
SPEAKER_09Why is this even a competition?
SPEAKER_05Well, I mean, until you get to mine. And then Joe has Rocky three and four. Rain Man, First Blood and Rambo, so basically Rambo one and two. Goonies, just absolute. Might be the best, in my opinion, might be the best movie on here. Oh, really? We went that long. Fastest Times, Origin on High, and then Untouchables. And then the best list, I mean if you add up, if you add up all of the box office, I think I'd crush all of you in this. Karate Kid, Major League, Back to the Future, Ghostbusters. Feel the Dreams and then Short Circuit, which I might have blown my list by doing that, but I had to.
SPEAKER_04But that is a pretty I know.
SPEAKER_09Could we add up all the movies? I wonder who made the most out of the movie.
SPEAKER_05I mean, let me just do that right now.
unknownOh.
SPEAKER_01We put that on the post. We forgot Caddish Yeah.
SPEAKER_05All right. So now want to start naming some ones that aren't. So what which ones do you have on your list? Uh you want me to just read them all? Which one? Yeah, name the one right on that page. What do you have? I got outsiders. Yep. All right, great. I had outsiders on here.
SPEAKER_09Uh Stand By Me. Stand by Me, yep. Top Gun. I can't believe Top Gun does. Top Gun. Right. Yep. And then I got Breakfast Club. Wow. There's I mean, that list might be better than my previous list.
SPEAKER_05Well, then when you start naming these naked gun, three three amigos.
SPEAKER_07Three amigos.
SPEAKER_05Cocktail, which we said. Gremlins.
SPEAKER_07Yep. Yep. Right.
SPEAKER_05Bull Bull Durham.
SPEAKER_07Yep. Yep.
SPEAKER_05We said cat. Did someone say Caddyshack? He just said that. Yep. Airplane, you just said. Um Spinal Tap.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I watched that. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_05Pretty good one. Big. I had that on the list, too. Big, yep.
SPEAKER_04Splash.
SPEAKER_05Splash. Uh Great Outdoors. Junk Candy. Space Balls. Yeah. Good one. Then you had Christmas Vacation and Vacation. Yep. Which are saddles. E.T., which we've said a couple times. Hoosiers.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, we saw that.
SPEAKER_05Christmas Story, 1983. Then I had these are my. Well then Full Metal Jacket. Oh, Scarface. Yeah. Yeah. Terminata, Predator, Commando, Rob Robocop. That would have been a good two foot. And these were this shows my age. Who framed Roger Abbott? Oh, actually. Kind of thought that was going to come up. Pee-wee's Big Adventure. Yeah. And Honey I Shrunk the Kids. Those ones.
SPEAKER_08All grey. Are they all with that guy? What's that Rick? Rick Moran. Rick wasn't in Pees.
SPEAKER_05I don't think he was in Pee Wee's. He was in Ghostbusters, though. Yeah. Oh, Little Shop of Horrors. He was in that. And that was '86. I had that on this list.
SPEAKER_04Uh Turk 180 Meatballs. He had a rock. He had a rock. Yeah, yeah. He was huge.
SPEAKER_05Odd guy. Yeah, I know. I mean, for a little guy like that, he did pretty well.
SPEAKER_04Anthony Michael Hall one's uh Breakfast Club.
SPEAKER_09Yep. Yep, he was Breakfast Club. I also had Risky Business. That was not mentioned. That was a good one. 16 candles. 16 candles. 16 candles, yep. I was thinking of that one. And then what about like breaking and breaking too electric bouquets?
SPEAKER_04Oh, dude.
SPEAKER_09Ozone?
SPEAKER_04My boy. Turbo.
SPEAKER_09What else? What is those? What are those? These are just my notes. Why? I was like, why are they so 80s? And then maybe some famous lines.
SPEAKER_04Turk 182.
SPEAKER_05Uh Good Morning Vietnam.
SPEAKER_04Yep, that was a good one, too. Turk 182 was an underrated.
SPEAKER_05I'll tell you, looking this up, there's there really was so many good movies.
SPEAKER_04It was good.
SPEAKER_05Who was in Turk 182? Sylvester Stallone. Who was it? Stallone. Stallone or uh Schwarzenegger? Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Twins. Great movies. What's the other guy's name? Yeah, 87. 87?
SPEAKER_05Rain Man. Yeah, yeah. That's why he doesn't need notes. He doesn't need notes. The Twins is a great movie.
SPEAKER_04That's was one of his first. That's what he made.
SPEAKER_05Kindergarten cop was 90s, right?
SPEAKER_04Yep, 1990s. Yeah, probably. Right. Schwarzenegger came out because of the No. But that was what his comedy. His first like movie. And then he became a juggernaut because he was like could do both, you know, comedy.
SPEAKER_09Oh, you think? I feel like he had something before.
SPEAKER_04Oh, he had a ton before. Well, he made stage fame as a big thing.
SPEAKER_05That's that mainstream, like not you know, killing movie.
SPEAKER_04Like his Charlie Sheen moment. Ferris Bueller. Ferris Bueller when he just took off.
SPEAKER_09Don't make me. I'll bring the book in next time. Ferris Bueller was a great.
SPEAKER_05Did you read his book?
SPEAKER_09Yeah, I am reading it. Yeah, it's terrible.
SPEAKER_05Are you reading it or are you listening to it? No, reading it. It's terrible. Yeah, yeah. He was I actually listened. He was on, I think he was on Rogan. He was on something else. He tried to listen. It was tough to listen to it. It was all over the place. So the only thing you know what's funny about this podcast.
SPEAKER_09And I'm like, oh, you can do that in a podcast. Joe's done it.
SPEAKER_05I mean, actually Nega played a pregnant male. True. Way before it was cool to be a pregnant man. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That was junior. Jingle all the way. What did you think? Jingle All the Way? 96.
SPEAKER_04Oh, is that late?
SPEAKER_05Yeah. Kindergarten cop was 90, like you said. Twins 88.
SPEAKER_04That was nailed out. That was in 87. That was untouchable 87.
SPEAKER_05Twins was definitely his first move over. And then Last Action Hero was a great movie. Yeah, in 93. Yeah. True Lies, I thought was a good movie.
SPEAKER_04That was like Jamie Lee Curtis reading. Yeah. Whatever. Fish Call Wanda. That was actually kind of funny. Alright, I mean Lot 80s. That was pretty good. That was good. Yeah.
SPEAKER_09I like my list. I'm having a lot of.
SPEAKER_04Oh, Revenge of the Nerds. Classic. Passed away last week. Yeah. So he wasn't in a lot after that, but oddly enough. He was good. Oh, to the main nerd, yeah. I don't know, but it wasn't Lama. That was awesome. You do a whole thing on that to Cathlon.
SPEAKER_05All right. I think uh we'll wrap up our 80s thing.
SPEAKER_09So yes. Anything else?
SPEAKER_05Yeah. So when uh when this comes out, we'll we'll post it and then you guys can vote on who had the best.
unknownI like that. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05I mean, I think it's obviously clear, but I mean we'll let the people we'll let the people talk. Uh yeah, I thought the first first draft, I thought this went pretty good. I think it went it went much better than than uh expected. Yeah. Wow.
SPEAKER_09Although I guess I wasn't sure how it was gonna go, but I like the fact that we kind of had the same movies on there. I didn't I thought we'd have more similar movies.
SPEAKER_04Um but three o'clock high, I love it. Not a top five. Sorry.
SPEAKER_05I mean, I the short circuit thing was more of a I should have gone who framed Roger Abbott. I should have went who if I was going I was going more uh how I felt about it.
SPEAKER_09But I'm thinking, I mean, again, exactly what made it 80s all about. How do you not go three o'clock high? I mean, that's the easy gets. Well, you could be you could decide next time. I'm gonna watch. I'm gonna watch it.
SPEAKER_04He's born 91.
SPEAKER_0981. But it's just like I said, my point being it would never happen today because if they challenge you to fight, they'd be like, what? No, no, movies.
SPEAKER_04No one challenges us to fights, they jump each other.
SPEAKER_05That's what I mean.
SPEAKER_04But did you see the one uh fist fight with the guy from Always Sunny, Charlie from Always Sunny, and said Ice T or Ice Cube. But it's hilarious.
SPEAKER_09Was it a real fight?
SPEAKER_04Or it's like it's a movie, fist fight. Oh, I did see that one. Oh, sorry, I didn't know what you were talking about. Fist fight, yeah. But you're saying like it never happened. That would certainly never happen today. That was two teachers like three o'clock high.
SPEAKER_09Oh, was it? Oh. Oh, that's funny.
SPEAKER_05All right, well, let's go to uh let's go to our award-winning loving and hating. We'll go around. I know. Joe's obviously prepared for this too, I'm sure.
SPEAKER_03Loving this Guinness.
SPEAKER_02I started right off.
SPEAKER_05All right, we'll go with Joe. What's Joe's Guinness? Loving Guinness. Oh. Oh, we're loving or hating?
SPEAKER_09I thought we were doing hating things. Oh, do we do hating things? Yeah, positive. Oh, sorry, sorry. You're right, you're right. Hating. Are you ready? Um yeah, I'll go first. What am I oh what am I hating? Yeah. I just watched it last night. Um it seems to be awards uh season for these celebrities. I hate good training. I fucking hate good thing. The stupid shows, and they all praise each other. Oh my god, you're the best. Yeah. They give awards to each other for no reason at all. And then the worst part is the three minutes they get to tell you how bad the country sucks. Yeah. And they carry on in this one and that one. It's kind of carries on to my thing. I love it. Yeah, and they just kind of keep going in the way. Go away then. Just go. Exactly.
SPEAKER_05This country sucks so bad, you're making $20 million a film getting pampered over everybody. But no, this country sucks. Oh my god, let's stand on our soapbox.
SPEAKER_09So I don't know why they even allow it. You know what I mean?
SPEAKER_05They got freaking gates in front of their houses, but they want everybody to go. Oh my god, terrible people. Terrible people.
SPEAKER_09And it's just the start of it, because I don't know what was last night, though. Who cares?
SPEAKER_05Don't walk the Academy Lords or something. No, it was the Oscars, I think. The Oscars, that's what I'm saying. I like Conan O'Brien, and he was the host. I'm like, oh you know what, man?
unknownI know.
SPEAKER_09But he probably it's just too much money to turn down. How could you not? Yeah. How could you not? But yeah, I just that's it just bothers me.
SPEAKER_05Good for you. Yeah. That's what I hate. Well, this goes into mine then. I'll I'll go next. Mine's more like mine's a little deep, I think. My hatred is hatred. I'm hating hatred. So I hate similar to what you just said, these people come up there and they're just telling you how horrible this country is. That's you why are you being so hateful? I don't understand. It's everything is negative. Uh, you can't have an opinion without someone else telling you basically I hate you for having that opinion. There's no more conversations anymore. Like we can't sit across and be like, yeah, you know what the you know what the best movie, the 80s movie is, it's Roadhouse. And you're like, you know what? Fuck you, you piece of shit. You like that movie, and then I'm like want to burn down your house. I'm gonna have pros testers out your house because you like Roadhouse. Yeah, right. There's no more conversation about things. People just hate something or they're on the opposite side. I don't even think they talk.
SPEAKER_09I think it's social media, right? Because now they'll just post it. Because I'll now I'll do the post and we'll get it's you like roadhouse?
SPEAKER_05That movie sucks. But then they would never look you in the eye. No. And you know what? It's it's instead of having it fun, like, yeah, Roadhouse probably does suck. Let's have a little fun with it. I didn't mean like that. You know what I'm saying?
SPEAKER_07No, but no, I get your point. But you know what I mean?
SPEAKER_05It's like everything is if you decide that you like something, then that means that whoever doesn't agree with you has to hate your guts and you can't even then agree on anything else. Yeah, right. So me and you could argue about the the the taste of Guinness. But if I don't like Guinness and you like Guinness, now suddenly anything that I like you need to hate. Yeah, right. Right. It's it's politics, all they've done is divide all of us completely. It's just a sad, sad spot you're in. You know?
SPEAKER_09I'm starting to think it's kind of like even both sides now, where it's like nobody's doing anything about anything.
SPEAKER_05No, no, I I agree with that. Like it's just terrible. Where I want to be is the middle. And if you're in the middle, you're in this law, this lost area because oh, I agree. Actually, I agree with Trump on that. Oh no, I agree with you know, the Democrats on that. You if you do that though, like one side's gonna hate you for agreeing with the other side. It's like join my team or else I hate you.
SPEAKER_09You know who this is gonna happen to is Fedeman, right? Like the guy from Pennsylvania. Oh, yeah. He plays the middle, he's shifting and he's outline. Wait a minute. Great, he plays he plays the middle.
SPEAKER_05But have have some conversations. Yeah, stop hating everybody, stop hating things. It's okay to disagree on stuff. I don't like the conspiracy theories that people have, and then it actually comes true. It's like, why are we destroying these people? And the conspiracy theory is just another opinion. It's not a negative thing, but it's turned into a negative thing. I don't know. I'm just tired of all the negativity. I'm tired of the stories that are negative, I'm tired of the division, the hate in the world. It's just it's it's on purpose. It's on purpose, some of it.
SPEAKER_09It's like that, isn't it?
SPEAKER_05Yeah, it's very sad. That's why I'm hating it. Yeah, yeah. Sorry, I went down a little. I mean, y'all's was a good hate. Mine was like a deep hate. But I'm mad about it. I'm just just just be just just disagree. Just disagree and be okay with disagreeing. No, don't find your blue haired friend and then start yelling and screaming and protesting about something you don't even believe in. Because you just don't like somebody. It's great.
SPEAKER_09And everyone becomes famous on Instagram because they film themselves saying what they hate. Oh. And then you know you get 30 people watching it.
SPEAKER_05Yep. Sorry. This is why we end with the loving part because it's got depressing.
SPEAKER_09More positivity. All right, Joe.
SPEAKER_05I'm sure this will be great. Yep. It can't be Guinness. You can't hate Guinness.
SPEAKER_04Oh, hate and getting old. Yeah, negativity's awful. Yeah, but I'm not everything's you know, just all get along. But um hate that we only made that list six movies. There's about 15, 20 we could have rattled off that. Yeah. It's a good hate.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, we uh you hate the concept of the show. No, no, no, no.
SPEAKER_04I thought that's what you were getting at saying about the negativity.
SPEAKER_05To think that Joe could have actually had a he could have changed something about how we set this whole thing up.
SPEAKER_08The draft of that. Yeah, the draft. I know. The thing that he hates.
SPEAKER_04No, I didn't realize, I love the draft. I didn't realize how hard it'd be to narrow down out of all those great movies. Like, you know, like I'd take minus um short circuit, and it was I'd take them all and short circuit was a bad deal.
SPEAKER_05I know, I know.
SPEAKER_04That's what makes us different. Yeah, yeah. But that's but you know what? We don't hate each other because we could have got 20 each, and they all would have been really good movies, I bet.
SPEAKER_09I mean, we're not gonna I wouldn't hate you about it, but just talk about you when you're not around. Like good friends. No, good friends.
SPEAKER_04Right.
SPEAKER_09I don't know if I well, I guess I could have gone on with 20, but like I thought of it, I looked at that, not to cut off your hatred, but like I looked at the draft as when the movie's on TV, do you watch it? Exactly. Do you keep it on the box? Yeah, exactly.
SPEAKER_04Right. And I think these Roadhouse, all pretty much all back to the future stuff.
SPEAKER_05We we have 18 movies here, and I would which one of these, I mean, maybe it's short circuit, but I would I would watch it. If Short Circuit came on, I would watch it. And I have to watch three o'clock high to see.
SPEAKER_04Another great one. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_05Um and then what we're hoping for is you know, people comment on this and add the ones that we haven't said, you know. But what's good about some of these movies, like your kids should be watching some of these movies.
SPEAKER_09Your kids should see Ferris Beeless Day.
SPEAKER_05My list besides Short Circuit, my kids have definitely all watched. Yeah, I mean, they get the biggest. Spoiler alert. All right, what are we loving?
SPEAKER_09Tombstone, but then the Welt. Tombstone's a great movie, too. Yeah, I thought I think it is a little too late though. Yeah. Um what am I loving? I mean, uh if I'm starting the loving, we're probably sharing this loving is next week, right? Like that's what I'm thinking about. So we're off to Dallas and we're gonna play in the nationals and uh Dynamos. Dynamos. U14 hockey team. Yeah, I don't know if we mentioned that, but yeah, we're on a dynamos team. Um and I don't know, do you get like nervously anxious about what's gonna happen next week? Like, we don't know what you know, you know, you have no idea what next week's gonna bring. No, you know, like it gets. Yeah, I'm nervous for the kids. Yeah, that's so that's what it happens to me, but it's like an exciting nervousness about it, I guess, right? Um, and it just, you know, I'm just loving how it's sort of like I think the whole team, like just last night. So last night we revealed all the all the uniforms and all that stuff, which was a great presentation, by the way. So I'm loving that it's just like and it's probably creditable to cut that cut that in.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, you can put a picture of it, yeah.
SPEAKER_09And that's why I kind of wish War Cup was there too, right? Because kind of the three of you guys, and I'm loving that it's like this team environment of just like they all get along, right? Like it's just a great um camaraderie. I don't even know if that's the right word. Like whatever it is, it's just like it doesn't matter, right? Like, not every kid's gonna get on the score sheet, not every kid's gonna do something great, yeah. But like everyone's gonna do a little bit of something to help the team win. And they all root for each other, they all root for each other. Yeah, that's kind of my point. And I kind of really love that. So I'm kind of looking forward to next week.
SPEAKER_05So to piggyback on that, I think, and this could be our um our youth sports conversation when we have that podcast, that'll be four, a four-part series. But um that'll go from elementary up to high school. I think the best part of that is to your to what you're saying, is why they all do root for each other, is that they've all just stuck together the whole time. Like nobody jumped ship and went to the next best thing, the next best thing. And it's our kids have been so lucky that they've pretty much played together the entire time and they didn't decide you didn't decide, you know what, fuck this, I'm gonna go with this. Uh Joe Schmoe down the street said, Um, the green's a better color. I'm gonna go with this team and I'm gonna go over here. They all just did it together. And I think they got to this point now, and to see all of it kind of come together is that's the reason why, because they've all been playing together, they've all been doing it together, and that's why they work so much together for each other. I think that's why it's more of a family because they're just like, screw it, why do I have to go and search something else when this thing's working pretty good with these kids? These are good kids, good families. Like, let's just keep doing it.
SPEAKER_02Right.
SPEAKER_05And now it's not about winning and losing and all that stuff, but the nationals thing is obviously an awesome thing. Right. Win, lose, or draw. But the fact that they're there together, there's a reason why they're at nationals, and it's not because they're the best hockey team in the world, it's because they're the best team. I think they're all like a group of kids together that all work for each other. There's no bullshit in the locker room. They don't whine and complain. They they call each other out in the most positive way. Like they'll tell them, like, hey, what the f what are you doing? Like, oh, you gotta catch that pass, but it's not like I hate this kid. This kid sucks. I don't want it to be like it's not. And I've seen that coaching. You see like kids be like, oh my God, this kid sucks. Like YC on this team. You never once ever hear that on the bench. You hit you guys call each other out and guys get mad at each other, yeah, which is great, but they don't they love each other, they don't hate each other, they don't hate each other at all.
SPEAKER_09So that's kind of yeah, that's what I'm loving, kind of enjoying that, like looking up, you know, looking to see what this becomes of this, I guess, right? Yeah. So um whatever. Win-lose or whatever. Yeah, yeah. But win or lose, I think they should all hang their heads high. Oh, yeah. Right, no matter what.
SPEAKER_05They'll never forget this. Whether they win or lose, they're never gonna forget it. And it it's just gonna be a cool, really cool memory for them.
SPEAKER_04It'd be cool to uh we pull it off and send Charlie Coyle uh get him a t-shirt or something. Yeah, right. Yeah, good Charlie Coyle. That's right too.
SPEAKER_05I mean, we could we could we could tag uh Charlie here and see if he wants to jump on the podcast after win, lose, or draw. Maybe he wants to talk about his dynamos experience.
SPEAKER_09He could be a good youth sports.
SPEAKER_05This should be a good clip. This would be a good clip, um, Steve talking about this. Like and we just can tag Charlie. Maybe he wants to come on and just talk about his dynamo experience and we can talk about what we our experience that we had with them, and maybe we're the dynamos went away for a while and then came back. Yep. And then look at us now. Look what look what these kids have done.
SPEAKER_09We could bring home the gold, right? We could put the trophy on the episode. All the club teams will have first.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, they yeah. No, it's pretty cool. It's that's a that's a good loving. Yeah. Next week's gonna be fun. Um did you say what you're loving?
SPEAKER_04I let off.
SPEAKER_05Oh, you're loving Guinness.
SPEAKER_04St. Paddy's Day in general. St. Paddy's Day is.
SPEAKER_05Is that your favorite holiday, do you think? I would say No, no, Christmas. I mean, I used to be a good thing. Besides a Christmas. Maybe New Year's for some reason.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, New Year's might be. No, not St. Paddy's Day. Like I never went in the parade and I never went to the parade ever. Yeah. A bunch of times.
SPEAKER_05Have you ever been in Ireland for St. Paddy's Day?
SPEAKER_04Nah, I'm not St. Paddy. My grandfather died on St. Paddy's Day, but I was the funeral was uh how Irish died at St. Paddy's Day three weeks later, either two weeks or whatever. My grandmother died. Broken heart syndrome.
SPEAKER_05But dying on St. Patrick's an Irish guy dying on St. Patrick's Day.
SPEAKER_04In Ireland? Uh in actually it was the grandpatrick. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And an uncle died either 16th or 17th, I don't know. But that turned into more sad thing than it is. But but they had you know long great lives.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_08And what is it about the Guinness? Is it uh just uh Well, I don't know, I just brought it you didn't like the whiskey.
SPEAKER_03Anyone who's been listening along. Yeah, I don't personally drink Guinness a lot, but uh figure say but I think I wasn't like it.
SPEAKER_05But you're like you don't a lot, but you're loving it. No, I no, no, I do love it. I do love it actually. New sponsor.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, no, I do love it. Best enjoy it in a glass. But if if you were drinking with like say just my cousins and buddies from Ireland, like very, very hard to keep up. Because they first of all it's a 20-ounce pint, I think. So in like three sips, they're done.
SPEAKER_05Do they do they split the G? Do you ever do that? What's that? On the on the cup one, the Guinness cup and has it says Guinness? Yeah. And your first sip, the line has to be through the G.
SPEAKER_06Oh, right. Oh, I never heard that before.
SPEAKER_09No, no, yeah. I'm I'm not a big Guinness guy.
SPEAKER_08Maybe you're just too much.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I can't. Yeah, geez. Come on.
SPEAKER_09Kind of sitting here waiting for you.
SPEAKER_02You know, glasses are glasses and other bot.
SPEAKER_05Alright, what am I loving?
SPEAKER_04Wait, I like the sound.
SPEAKER_05Oh yeah, listen to the sound, you're right.
SPEAKER_04Oh boy.
SPEAKER_05It makes it seem like it's gonna coke that's like shit.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, like all shaken up.
SPEAKER_05You ruined it. Now it's done. I mean the whole point is to begin.
SPEAKER_08Again, tap of the mern into the case. I have a new hating.
SPEAKER_06I have a new hating.
SPEAKER_05I have a new hating.
SPEAKER_08That was that was tough. Happy St. Paddy's Day, all my Irish friends. Oh that's awesome.
SPEAKER_05Um, I gotta say what I'm loving. Yeah, yeah, we gotta do loving.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Uh the end of hockey season.
SPEAKER_02Oh, yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Putting piggyback right on to it.
SPEAKER_05But not in a but not in a uh negative way. Like it is like the end of it when it wraps up, you know, for the high school, it's the tournament that you're getting ready for, and you like go through the whole season, and then that like last week, hopefully two weeks, but for us it was one week, yeah, and you're prepping for practice and you're getting ready for it, like it's it's so much fun. Then getting to watch Cassidy play, like similar. So me, I'm coaching, so I'm like prepping for it, but then for her, I get to just watch that as it ends. It's kind of a different way. Same thing with basketball.
SPEAKER_04Not that it's over.
SPEAKER_05That that makes sense. That you work all that that whole time, that whole year to get to that point, and it's that unexpected, you don't know what's gonna happen. You know, you're in the tournament with the high school and you're playing in these games, and and then for her, it's a it's her senior year, so then it's even worse. So it's kind of like, but it is it is a cool thing for it to be wrapping up, you know.
SPEAKER_09They do a lot for the seniors, yeah. Yeah, it's nice. It's it's really nice.
SPEAKER_05And then obviously with the the the dynamos, it's different because the season's wrapping up and it's wrapping up in this unbelievable way that most seasons don't wrap up. So it's kind of been a cool thing to love. And then even even Quincy College, Quincy College made it. Shout out to Quincy College, they went to Nationals. They're there um they might be their flight this morning, I think, was at uh 5 a.m. and I s they might have landed as I'm looking at the time, possibly within the last half hour. Come on. Uh on the group chat, they were like, uh yeah, so when are we getting on this plane? It just got delayed. There's tornadoes or something down there. They were in Jacksonville. So even if it's going through whatever they had to go through, there was all this weather.
SPEAKER_04It's not far from that. Yeah, what'd they play? Oh yeah. Was that Socrates?
SPEAKER_10Yeah.
SPEAKER_05So that was cool too. I mean, good for them. I I couldn't attend it, but they went down to Jacksonville for Nationals and won a game. Oh wow. Uh they they lost to Alabama by one. They lost to um Columbia by they 4-4 in the third period and ended up losing at the end. But like pretty playing some pretty big schools down there. I think so. That's Quincy College playing these guys. But so that even wrapping up for that, even though I didn't go like the prep for the last two weeks, uh, whether it's at practice or seeing even those guys, you see the 14-year-olds how excited they are for it, and then you see these guys are within, you know, they're 19 to 24 years old, 25 years old, so excited to go down to their nationals, you know.
SPEAKER_09Any of those guys, is it like last season for them?
SPEAKER_05Yeah, then you get yeah, you get some guys that will never play competitive hockey again.
SPEAKER_09Are that they have years of eligibility too? Like is it the same thing?
SPEAKER_05Yeah, you get it. So it it stinks because if you not stinks, but if say your road was to go to Quincy College after high school to then hopefully play like Division III or something, you do lose a year of eligibility planning. Oh really? It's not NCA, but it's still I guess I don't know how it works.
SPEAKER_09Oh, is that not? I would think that would be NCAA.
SPEAKER_05Still, it's no, it's not it's it's it's called AAU. There's ACHA and this AAU, those are the two club organizations, uh club programs that run it. But yeah, so I'm I'm I love the the ending of the hockey season, not because it's over, but how it everything kind of wraps up. And this year was a little obviously a little bit more special than others with Braintree High and then the dynamos and even the high school team. That was a that was a first year, they're all they're combined between the North and Quincy High. And then you had a good little run too. That was fun. But yeah, right. I know, it was nice. Cool little ending. And it is good that it's over. Yeah, I'm sure you'd use a break on maybe a little break. I mean, as I mentioned, there was 19 hockey teams I was following along. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. I don't remember. Do you coach, right? Yeah, yeah. I've coached a little bit. Yeah, so from time to time.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, I like that one though. I know. We got a big we got a big we got a couple endings coming this year, though, too. With the girls. Yeah. You know, sort of like, that's it. Yeah, it's kind of crazy. Yeah, it is kind of crazy. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, you don't realize, and then then you look at pictures and you're like, my god, I thought just a couple years ago.
SPEAKER_09It's crazy. I started looking at some pictures today. I hate pictures now. Uh yeah, I'm hating pictures. Because it just makes me depressed.
SPEAKER_05I'm looking at this, I'm like, what the f I pulled up a picture today.
SPEAKER_09It's funny, it was uh it was the Braintree, the what would they have been? U6s, the little the little mites at uh in Stoughton. And Wokup's the coach. And it was Nikki, Donnie, and uh Austin. And Joey Francis was on the team, but I know I didn't see him in the picture at a mic. He was taking the photo.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, exactly. Your six-year-old take the photo. Yeah, yeah. That's crazy. And it's sad though. It's sad, it is it's sad. It just makes you realize you're getting old, like what Joe said a couple episodes ago. Getting old sucks. Then you look at these pictures and you're like, our kids are getting old, which means we're even older.
SPEAKER_09No. But those are the good old days. You'd play a hockey game and then you'd be like, Yeah. And they like to. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_05Like they wanted to hang out with you. They're like, oh yeah, can we do this? What else can we do? What else can we do? It's like, could you please just say hello? Yeah. Hello would work.
SPEAKER_09But those are the days they'd come off the the uh, you know, you'd play hockey for an hour, you'd be in the locker room, and then you'd go dunking donuts, and like they'd see like home with Ryan, and and it was like Nikki was like, Oh my god. Yeah, you just saw them just too well. It's like, what do you mean? Like you hadn't seen him forever.
SPEAKER_05It's like when a young kid sees a teacher, like out of the wild. They don't know what to do. They're at the grocery store, like what? Yeah, it's a great they leave the classroom.
SPEAKER_04They're human beings. Oh my god. No, it does go by. I remember people say that all the time. Oh, it goes by fast. I'm like, not fast enough. And then it happens. And then you like shift over.
SPEAKER_09I'm like, yeah, what's that this is the saying, right? It's like long day uh fast uh what fast minds.
SPEAKER_04That's like that's a really good way to end it.
SPEAKER_05I think we're into the 2000s then. So next, so next episode we'll get to we'll we might do a live one in Dallas. Yeah, we're thinking of maybe we've got to talk to Steve about that, but we don't know. We got some microphones and a little mixin' if we bring it down.
SPEAKER_09Somehow we record it. That's what we're doing. Well, we just record it and then we give it a producer. Steve, and he has to do it. He has to do his shit.
SPEAKER_01Same back to the future, yeah.
SPEAKER_05It's literally just a memory stick. You'll we'll figure it out. So that could be something, but if anything, we'll have a recap of uh our Dallas trip will be our our next episode. Yep, it could be that, yeah. Which would be good. And um, and who knows? We're trying to get some, you know, reach out if you want to be a guest. I don't know.
SPEAKER_09Well, they reach out, but then they they You gotta bring something to the table.
SPEAKER_05Reach out with something on the table that you'd like to talk about.
SPEAKER_04But the draw, I thought we could go with as soon as we say, yeah, you're on.
SPEAKER_05And then they say no. I did reach out though to a couple people thinking that they'd come on, but everyone was like, they said no. Yeah. I mean, uh, the kids want to have a kid episode, but I don't think that's a that's could be fair. Did you hear that? Yeah. They do want to have a kid episode.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. I was unaware. And so this episode.
SPEAKER_08Yeah.
SPEAKER_09I think and I think it's the three and three.
SPEAKER_05I had another kid in class today. Oh, you mean which? No, no, no, no. I'm talking about our kids, yeah, right. But I had a n not I if I said Ryan, you're going up on the pudding, you'd be like, he's already told me do not mention my name.
SPEAKER_09So yeah, no, I think he's all came on. Yeah, they all came on, they would do it.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. Uh yeah, a kid in class today just said fishing for answers to me again. And I said, uh, I don't know what you're talking about. And he just started laughing. He's like, You don't know what I'm talking about. Yeah, yeah. I said, no. Meanwhile, I had the big sticker on here. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_07I'm handing out stickers today in class.
SPEAKER_05Uh like, follow, share. Yeah. We put our um well, the giveaway will be over by the time this episode. Yeah, I like that. That was cool. I'll put that out there. Yeah, why not? We'll comment, like, and share maybe in in in a topic, maybe, and then we'll sh we'll shout you out. We could do that multiple times.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah, we could, yeah.
SPEAKER_05All right, well, let's uh unless anyone's got anything else. I think they should review the list and uh copy the list. Let's end with Chris's list again, just to remind everybody Roadhouse, three o'clock high, can't buy me love, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Beverly Hills Cop and Footloose, Joe, Rocky's, Rain Man, Rockies, Rocky 3-4.
SPEAKER_02Three and four.
SPEAKER_05Rain Man, First Blood, and Rambo, so Rambo's one and two. First blood and first blood pot too. And then uh Goonies, Fast Times at Ridgemont High, and Untouchables. And then my list was Crowdy Kid, Major League, Back to the Future, Ghostbusters, Fail the Dreams, and Johnny Five shirt circuit. Yeah, choice. Great movies. I know.
SPEAKER_04Grandmas, if you had grandmas instead of that, I'd almost vote for that. I was thinking of Naked Gun, but frame Roger Rabbit was on the floor.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, yeah. All right, well, let's wrap up um season one, episode six.
SPEAKER_04Oh, uh yeah, Naked Gun. Yeah, that was naked gun. All right, that will do it. Thanks, guys. Until next time.
