This Week's Obsessions:
Emily: Lack of Color Holiday Bucket Hat
Kyle: Mrs. Meyer's Tomato Vine Collection
Laura: Trying Something New Every Month
Kyle here. This is going to seem like a normal episode, but it's really not. This is Emily's last episode before maternity leave, so we have some surprises in store for her. Laura, her sister, is going to surprise her in the second act. So she has no clue. We're so excited. See you later.
SPEAKER_08We're Emily and Kyle. We started as coworkers in late night television, and now we're best friends exploring NYC and our FYPs.
SPEAKER_03This is an interview show about obsessions. Ours, theirs, and maybe yours too. Welcome to We're Obsessed With You.
SPEAKER_08Signing off for good.
SPEAKER_03I know you have to set your out of office for the Howie offices.
SPEAKER_08Do you know I've never said an out of office?
SPEAKER_03That's crazy.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, I'm just always available. I'm such a hard worker.
SPEAKER_03Oh boy. Hi everyone. Welcome to We're Obsessed With You. I'm Kyle O'Donnell.
SPEAKER_08I'm Emily Himes.
SPEAKER_03And this is our interview show about obsessions. We talked to the people we're obsessed with. About the things they're obsessed with.
SPEAKER_08Yeah.
SPEAKER_03This is a solo episode.
SPEAKER_08Yes, we're only going to talk about what we're obsessed with today.
SPEAKER_03And to each other.
SPEAKER_08Don't sign off.
SPEAKER_03Which is what we're very obsessed with.
SPEAKER_08Yes, I'm obsessed with you. I love your outfit today. Thank you so much. It's really cute.
SPEAKER_03Well, I saw Amanda Batula wearing a different version of this.
SPEAKER_08Oh, this is a perfect time to throw up the photo of me and Amanda Batula. Yes.
SPEAKER_03Oh my god, the best photo ever taken. And I was like, I love this shirt. And then it ended up being a men's Zara shirt.
SPEAKER_08Oh gosh.
SPEAKER_03I'm really like, I don't like I say I'm not a Zara shopper.
SPEAKER_08I just saw your TikTok about Zara.
SPEAKER_03I love Zara.
SPEAKER_08I do too.
SPEAKER_03It's really, really great.
SPEAKER_08You just have to spend time.
SPEAKER_03Yes. Exactly.
SPEAKER_08You have to go through it.
SPEAKER_03And you cannot pay full price.
SPEAKER_08Oh, I always pay full price.
SPEAKER_03Oh I always pay price.
SPEAKER_08They don't do that many sales, Kyle.
SPEAKER_03I feel like things are always on sale.
SPEAKER_08Well, you may be because you're in the summer months, but like maybe there's like a big summer sale, but usually you're getting the price already, like a deal.
SPEAKER_03Wow. No clue. Huh? This is how little I am a Zara shopper.
SPEAKER_08Well, now you are.
SPEAKER_03I know I love it.
SPEAKER_08Welcome to the club.
SPEAKER_03Thank you.
SPEAKER_08Soon you'll be a mango shopper.
SPEAKER_03Oh, I love mango.
SPEAKER_08I love mango.
SPEAKER_03Nothing better than going to a mango abroad, though.
SPEAKER_08Oh, nothing.
SPEAKER_03It's the best.
SPEAKER_08It's so good.
SPEAKER_03Whenever people are going to London, I'm like, so you're going to mango, you're going to Zara.
SPEAKER_08Oh, and then Mango Home. Yeah, mango home.
SPEAKER_03As we mentioned, maternity leave is coming up for you. Are you ready?
SPEAKER_08No. I just did there was like a put a finger down video on TikTok of like what you need. Are you ready? And I've done one of like the eight things.
SPEAKER_09Oh my god.
SPEAKER_08I've installed the car seat.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_08Yeah. But now we don't have the car because it's at the this game. So you have a rental car with no car seat. Someone stole the fingers down.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Someone stole the little ornamental.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, someone stole the H.
unknownCrazy.
SPEAKER_08Who are you? But I did learn that they weren't just stealing the H, they were stealing something behind the H. Nuts. I know. Because when I thought it was just the H, I was like, no offense. I don't have a Mercedes. No offense to me. This is a Honda. And I was like, why? It's the H. Yeah. Ouch.
SPEAKER_03For Himes.
SPEAKER_08Yeah.
SPEAKER_03That's why. But the show will go on. I'll be doing it. You're going to be doing some solo episodes.
SPEAKER_08You're going to, you're going to kill it.
SPEAKER_03Dang's M's.
SPEAKER_08But I'm not going away for long.
SPEAKER_03No.
SPEAKER_08I'll be back.
SPEAKER_03And people in my office were like, what are you going to do when Emily goes on maternity leave? And I'm just having a moment of sentimentality. There's no one I'd want to do this without. Like with, I mean, like you.
SPEAKER_08I can't imagine.
SPEAKER_03I wouldn't want to have a sub come in. Like, that's not what the point of this is. No, completely. Alchemy is in the two of us. Sentimentality over. Um, I'm going to start with my obsession today.
SPEAKER_08Oh, tell me. Talk to me.
SPEAKER_03I don't know if you'll like this.
SPEAKER_08I know. I'm so like intrigued by it's a cleaning product. Okay. I clean.
SPEAKER_03Yes, you clean, but I don't know if you like the scent.
SPEAKER_08Oh, oh, tomato?
SPEAKER_03Tomato leaf. Tomato. This is Mrs. Myers. We love Mrs. Myers.
SPEAKER_08Please, Mrs. Myers, please. Mrs. Myers. Oh, Mrs. Myers. Mrs. Myers, please, Mrs. Myers.
SPEAKER_03Real heads know what that's from. So this is their tomato leaf scent.
SPEAKER_08I'm going to Well, I have Flamingo Estate Tomato soap in my bathroom.
SPEAKER_03They make uh multi-surface cleaner, hand soap, uh, and then detergent in this sense.
SPEAKER_08Oh, I should get this for Tecla.
SPEAKER_03I think it's a great dupe for.
SPEAKER_08Actually, it's a little dirty over here.
SPEAKER_03This is disgusting. That's why I'm spraying it. ASMR.
SPEAKER_08I can actually smell. I don't have to lean over.
SPEAKER_03It's kind of nice.
SPEAKER_08It's actually, it is nice.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_08Now, you have recently sent me a tomato, a drink of the summer, if you will.
SPEAKER_03Yes.
SPEAKER_08Tomato, puree, and lemonade.
SPEAKER_03Yes.
SPEAKER_08It's hard to drink that or think about drinking that when I'm smelling a cleaning product. That's tomato.
SPEAKER_03Right.
SPEAKER_08So I don't think I could have that lemonade tomato drink.
SPEAKER_03But this is tomato leaf.
SPEAKER_08It's tomato vine.
SPEAKER_03Oh, tomato vine, I'm sorry. I think Golden Flamingo probably owns tomato leaf or something. Um because I don't like a Bloody Mary at all.
SPEAKER_08The last time I had one, I was 18 years old at the beach. Yes. And then I threw it up out of a car window.
SPEAKER_03I think I've only had one sip of one ever and I thought this is not for me.
SPEAKER_08This is great. This doesn't it smell so good?
SPEAKER_03And we obviously Mrs. Myers is a great brand. It's limited edition, so you have to buy it now. I got it off Amazon. You know what?
SPEAKER_08I don't think I ever knew it was Mrs. Myers. I always just thought it was no, I thought it was Myers. I've never seen the Miss That's Tiny. Mrs.
SPEAKER_03Well, there used to be a woman.
SPEAKER_08What do you mean?
SPEAKER_03There used to be like a cartoon Mrs. Myers. Oh, I didn't know that. Packages.
SPEAKER_08Well, then look how look, they are slowly fading her out. She goes away. Now the little MRS is getting smaller and smaller. They don't want her.
SPEAKER_03Women's stories matter. Yeah. Mrs. Where's the Mrs. Myers biopic?
SPEAKER_08Yeah.
SPEAKER_03The truth is that it was she's a fake person. I know this actually. No, I just like researched it. Not for this, like years ago. These guys, or maybe woman.
SPEAKER_08Um they thought it would sell better if it was from a woman.
SPEAKER_03Yes. They came up with like a mythology behind it. There's no Mrs. Myers. Well, this could all be a lie. Is it a lie?
SPEAKER_09Yes.
SPEAKER_03Wait, there is a Mrs. Myers.
SPEAKER_08There is.
SPEAKER_03There is a Mrs. Myers.
SPEAKER_08It's Seth Myers' mom.
SPEAKER_03Wow.
SPEAKER_08That's wow.
SPEAKER_03I've been going my whole life thinking this is all marketing.
SPEAKER_08Well, I mean, that that would be really upsetting to me.
SPEAKER_03Essie Johnson product, right? Watch it still be a small business. No, you're correct.
SPEAKER_08You're correct.
SPEAKER_03Okay, Essie Johnson. So like they acquired it, but I love their stuff. It's all right.
SPEAKER_08And they're kicking her out still.
SPEAKER_03They're still kicking her out. They're still kicking her out. Emily, what are you obsessed with?
SPEAKER_08I was just at the Jersey Shore, which I did see a TikTok actually. Someone pointing out where most people say, like, I'm on the East Coast or like I'm going to the beach, I'm going to the beach. But when you hit Jersey, it's like I'm going to the shore. I'm going to the shore. Why is that? Oh, yeah, that's crazy. Why is everyone like, oh, I'm going to the beach, I'm going to the beach, but I I would never say I'm going to the beach when I'm at the Jersey Shore.
SPEAKER_03Oh, interesting. Yeah, I don't know. Yeah, it's marketing.
SPEAKER_08I know. TikTok told me that. Yes. Never thought about it before. Anyway, I went to the Jersey Shore. I go to Sea Isle, the Philly Jersey Shore. Um and I brought a hat.
SPEAKER_09Great.
SPEAKER_08Lack of color. I I'm actually annoyed I didn't bring it. Um it's a bucket hat. Yes. It's their holiday bucket hat. And it's I ordered the beige one and I didn't realize like how canvas-y it was gonna be. It's like a real canvas hat. And I was like, I'm not on a safari. You know what I mean?
SPEAKER_03And this is such a deep cut. The parents and gone girl. Oh they're always wearing khaki and like hunting things on the search parties. That's what I imagine you looking like.
SPEAKER_08Well, everything just from my head from head down, I was in Jersey Shore apparel. Right. Just head up, I was in my canvas, like I'm ready to go on a safari look at like giraffes. But I was a little nervous at first, but I tipped a little. It it's nice because it holds. Great. First, it's nice because it folds. Let's go back. It folds so easily. Everyone gets like the straw hats or they're just harder to like travel with. Yeah. This flat in my suitcase came out, and but it's hard enough that I can like fold the little top up so you can see my beautiful eyes.
SPEAKER_09Cute.
SPEAKER_08Um, and it's just full coverage.
SPEAKER_09Great.
SPEAKER_08And I think as we get older, we we need sun protection. Absolutely. I still got cut. Look at me.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Sunkiss.
SPEAKER_08I'm still tan.
SPEAKER_03I wore a giant sun hat in main.
SPEAKER_08I wore it every single day.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_08And I loved it so much. And it comes in like great basic colors, but then there's some fun like polka dots. There's brown and white polka dots, white and red polka dots.
SPEAKER_03How much is it?
SPEAKER_08$99.
SPEAKER_03It's not bad.
SPEAKER_08If you buy it at other websites, though, I saw it was like $115. So just go to the source. Or wait for a sale. Lack of color. Right. So I was really into that. And I think it was a good purchase. And I think I'll be wearing it for years to come.
SPEAKER_03Perfect. I love that.
SPEAKER_08Yeah.
SPEAKER_03I love a summer hat.
SPEAKER_08I do too. And you know what? When you travel abroad, well, usually I wear a baseball cap. I love a baseball cap. But when you travel abroad, that's like if you wear a baseball cap and you're at the beach, that's like American, American. Well, since I buzzed my hair, I don't really Which isn't even buzzed anymore.
SPEAKER_03It does feel long.
SPEAKER_08It looks long.
SPEAKER_03It is long.
SPEAKER_08Um should we buzz it on camera right now?
SPEAKER_03No. I don't know what kind of hat to wear because when I wear a baseball cap, I'm just going to say it. I look like I'm going through treatment. It's a little too balding look. I wore a big sun hat. Wasn't working. Trucker hats, no. Dad hats, no. I have to find a hat for the buzzed hair.
SPEAKER_08You just kind of named all the hats.
SPEAKER_03I know, except bucket.
SPEAKER_08You can try that. I got the small medium. And when I put it on, it was a little tight, but it did stretch out.
SPEAKER_03Does it have something you tie or does it make that up?
SPEAKER_08Okay, so then there's a little string that comes down. And I was like, this is cute. Like aesthetically. Yeah. And I got was getting so many compliments. And then it got windy on the beach. And you know what I did? Tied it.
SPEAKER_03Perfect.
SPEAKER_08And I was like, oh my God, this is amazing. I wonder if they thought we would use this. And the people I was with were like, yeah, that's the point. And I thought it was literally purely aesthetic. But I tied that thing every chance I could.
SPEAKER_03Adorable.
SPEAKER_08Oh, it was so cute. Oh. And now I can go on safari.
SPEAKER_03So perfect. Or look for your missing daughter in the misery swamps. Um, we want to remind everyone that we're on YouTube, Apple Podcasts, and Spotify. Please like, rate, and review us on all of those mediums. And we're on Facebook now. Follow us on Facebook, and you can find us at we're obsessed with you at gmail.com.
SPEAKER_08You killed it, Kyle. And now it's time to get into our second obsession. Yes. Um I have a list of things that I like need to bring to the hospital or that people are telling me I need to bring to the hospital.
SPEAKER_03Yes.
SPEAKER_08One being a long cord so I can like be on my phone the whole time.
SPEAKER_09Great.
SPEAKER_08Like leading up to it, obviously, not like the whole time. Yes. Um, and then someone told me I need to get like an egg light that's like I got I bought it on Amazon Prime Day and it's like nine dollars, and you click it, and it just like slowly gets brighter and brighter, and it can it just like instead of the overhead lighting, and then at night, if you're like breastfeeding, it's like warm and just like sets the tone.
SPEAKER_09Great.
SPEAKER_08I'm concerned about like being comfortable. So I have been worried about like what outfit. Oh my god, what is she doing here? Shut up.
SPEAKER_02Shut up! Surprise, Emily! Oh my god, don't.
SPEAKER_08I'm gonna cry. Why is she here?
SPEAKER_02It's your baby extravaganza. Welcome to the pod Laura High.
SPEAKER_08Oh my god, what is she doing here? I thought it was Hallie's sister.
SPEAKER_03We'll be right back. Okay, everyone.
SPEAKER_09You guys are freaking out!
SPEAKER_03We have surprised Emily with her favorite person in the world and Nancy to be. Our third co-host. Yeah. Laura.
SPEAKER_07You guys, this is Laura.
SPEAKER_03This is gluten-free Laura.
SPEAKER_07This is gluten-free Laura.
SPEAKER_03Hi, Laura. Welcome. Hi. Thank you for coming to the Upper East Side.
SPEAKER_07You are so welcome. She had to wake up early. She doesn't like waking up early. I also had to take a cab.
SPEAKER_03Okay, we don't have the money too expense it. So ask your dad to Venmo you. Um but it's also very exciting because with your baby, you'll have three August Leos.
SPEAKER_09Yes.
SPEAKER_03You are due three days before my birthday, four days before Laura's birthday. It's very exciting.
SPEAKER_08It's crazy. We can all have a party together.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. I love it.
SPEAKER_08What should the theme be for the baby's first birthday? For all of you. I don't know.
SPEAKER_03We have to think about it. Taylor Swift. No. We all pick an element.
unknownYes.
SPEAKER_03Perfect. Welcome to the pod, Laura.
SPEAKER_07Thank you so much for having me. Crazy.
SPEAKER_03Laura, I mean, Emily, do you have any questions for Laura you want to ask?
SPEAKER_07How many times are you going to call me Emily?
SPEAKER_03So many times. I've not seen this view yet.
SPEAKER_08What's crazy is like, I don't think, do we think we look alike right now?
SPEAKER_03No.
SPEAKER_08When we go out, everyone, people will ask us, are you identical twins? Probably.
SPEAKER_03When I first met you, I probably thought you guys looked way more like now that like, you know, when like she's a little crazier.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_03Yes. Absolutely. Um, let's talk about sisterhood.
SPEAKER_08Oh my god.
SPEAKER_03Emily's favorite thing to talk about. Um, how has it been watching your sister navigate pregnancy?
SPEAKER_07Oh my god. Honestly, I feel like she's done a great job.
SPEAKER_03Totally.
SPEAKER_07Yeah. I don't think she has let it affect her life that much, if at all.
SPEAKER_03Not at all.
SPEAKER_07Um, she does love a network.
SPEAKER_03She's still drinking, she's still smoking cigarettes. She's still going out every night.
SPEAKER_07Exactly. Pregnant women don't drink alone.
SPEAKER_03That's right.
SPEAKER_08Or smoke.
SPEAKER_07So yeah, I feel like the only difference is the clothing, maybe. Yeah, that was hard.
SPEAKER_09Yes.
SPEAKER_07That was like freaking. Maybe like not as cute as like normal clothing. Yeah.
SPEAKER_08So she doesn't always look like I'm currently in a dress hip right now that is so long and like in a ball gown. It's 9 30 in the morning.
SPEAKER_03It's like a very formal looking dress.
SPEAKER_08So I have to change after this. You should have worn heels. That's what I said.
SPEAKER_03What kind of aunt do you think you'll be as someone who has fantastic aunts in your own life?
SPEAKER_07I think I am going to spend a lot of money on the kid.
SPEAKER_09Great.
SPEAKER_07But Laura's the rich aunt. So I'm gonna have to be well. I'm the poor aunt. She's the rich aunt. So hopefully, like fun things like that. Like, well, like, could I buy you a fancy bag or like let's go to a fun experience? I love an experience. Yes.
SPEAKER_08Laura loves an experience. So like maybe I'll be the experience aunt. Right. Well, she has been doing pottery and she gifted me one of the most beautiful things that I fit. Actually, I think you haven't seen it because I only just got it and I haven't seen you. Okay, great. She cried. I cried.
SPEAKER_07Surprise, surprise.
SPEAKER_08I was actually gonna bring this up to say I think a really good gift to give a friend is a piggy bank.
SPEAKER_03Adorable.
SPEAKER_08Laura in pottery class made stop. It is stunning.
SPEAKER_03What is it like a what's the vessel? What does it look like?
SPEAKER_07It looks like this. A pig. And it's a pig. Is that clear? Yes, absolutely. It looks like a phone. It looks like this.
SPEAKER_03So it looks like a pig. Did you hand build it?
SPEAKER_07Oh, I hand built it.
SPEAKER_03That's amazing.
SPEAKER_07It's kind of amazing. The tail is adorable. Oh. You have to see it.
SPEAKER_08It's so charm. It's just so sweet. And it's a great, it's just so that's what a kid's little like. She was like, oh, it's a piggy bang. And then she's like, Did you make it? Yeah.
SPEAKER_07It's stunning. And the little pink ears. We actually have the photos of her crying to it as well. Okay, great.
SPEAKER_03We'll put those in.
SPEAKER_07Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_07We should have brought it, but you know, but I didn't want to. Yeah, I have two. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Wait, you said you brought prop. Oh, is that for your obsession?
SPEAKER_07Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Well, let's get into your obsession.
SPEAKER_07Okay.
SPEAKER_03Tease us with one word. What are you currently obsessed with?
SPEAKER_08Monthly. Oh, she loves the subscription.
SPEAKER_03I know what the obsession is already.
SPEAKER_08And it's not book of the month.
SPEAKER_03No. No. Which she also is doing. Tell us what you're obsessed with.
SPEAKER_07I'm obsessed with doing a new thing every month.
SPEAKER_03I love this so much.
SPEAKER_07This is really good.
SPEAKER_08And she's like, I do have notes. Can I look at my notes?
SPEAKER_03Yes, please. Walk us through it.
SPEAKER_08Well, because we've already, how many months are we into January? Emily. I mean into the year. We're not.
SPEAKER_03We're seven months into the year.
SPEAKER_08Okay, first of all, how quickly you all realize they said something wrong. But yes.
SPEAKER_03Because that was wild.
SPEAKER_08Crazy hot in here.
SPEAKER_03Hormones. So seven, we're seven months in. Have you completed a new thing every month?
SPEAKER_07I have.
SPEAKER_03Fab. Walk us through it.
SPEAKER_07Okay. January.
SPEAKER_03Yep.
SPEAKER_07I started doing pottery, which I have now continued to do. So it wasn't even a one-time thing. It was like, let's do it forever. Great. It's like I'm kind of obsessed. I'm only doing hand building.
SPEAKER_09Yep.
SPEAKER_07I'm doing it at this place called Still Life in Gowanis. Love. And the teacher is great. Anjali, love her. We'll tag her.
SPEAKER_09Great.
SPEAKER_07So everyone can take a class. Um, and it's great. I'm gonna show you what I've made. I didn't bring that many things, I just brought two.
SPEAKER_09Yeah.
SPEAKER_07But here's one. Look how friggin' cute.
SPEAKER_03Oh adorable. Oh my god.
SPEAKER_08So artistic.
SPEAKER_03It is so cute. I love this. So cute. Absolutely love this.
SPEAKER_08Isn't it so cute? And she has like a Pinterest. Don't you have a Pinterest board of like the things that you want to make?
SPEAKER_07Yeah, like of ideas.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. I love.
SPEAKER_08And here's the other one.
SPEAKER_07There's a match, it's a matching set.
SPEAKER_03Really cute.
SPEAKER_07So that's all I brought, but I have been great.
SPEAKER_03You did a paint. Pottery is so fun.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, it's just like relaxing. It's good for my anxiety. You have to focus on one thing.
SPEAKER_03And we're also used to instant gratification. And pottery is like a real test in patience because you have to let it dry. You have to like really put in the work as you do it for it to be a success.
SPEAKER_07Yeah. Also, you can even glaze it and then it's not a success. It's ugly. Well, you did one that I know. My mom was like, that should be in the pottery graveyard.
SPEAKER_08It's like, okay. And fun fact, once in high school, when I had a Saturday detention, I never did. I had to take these pieces or the ones that went to the graveyard and hammer it to dust so they could restart with all of the clay. That is a great thing about pottery. It's um yeah. But just remember, there's somebody banging that pottery out with a bag of powder.
SPEAKER_03Yes. These are cute little espresso cups, essentially. Um, and they have little flowers all over them. They're so hand-drawn. Hand-drawn flowers. Um, this is a serving dish. There's like a big vessel and a small vessel, perfect for like shrimp and tails, bottles and pits. So cute. Chips and tails.
SPEAKER_08You don't even eat shrimp.
SPEAKER_03I know, but I know people have tails. Yeah. Yes. Um, what are some other things you've done?
SPEAKER_07Um, I did embroidery. So I thought I brought this pair of underwear.
SPEAKER_03Cute that I embroidered. Cute. Love it. Adorable. Where did you do that?
SPEAKER_07Craft Society, also in Gowanis.
SPEAKER_03Great.
SPEAKER_07It was a partnership with Rat Boy. Cute. And I embroidered a cute little bunny on it. And the best part is that it's pink the little nose. Cute. Cute. So I tried that and I did buy supplies to like keep doing it, but I haven't really continued that. You've been busy with your other activities.
SPEAKER_03Nice is that like you can take it on or you don't have to. You're like, I did this once. This wasn't the although I was into it.
SPEAKER_07Like I did go the extra step of buying some more supplies, but then like, no.
SPEAKER_09Yeah.
SPEAKER_07So yeah, it's like you can pick and choose. Yeah. Um, March, you guys already know because I did Mahjong. Yeah. With our so bam fun. Um and now you've been playing on your phone. I play on my phone. Great. And then I've also played in person twice. Love. Yeah. That's great. So we're big mahjong people. Um, April, this was less of a hobby, but more of an experience. I went on a book retreat through this company called Page Break. And we, it was a three-day thing. We went and stayed at an inn in Westkill, New York, called the Spruceton Inn. And it's owned by the author of this book.
SPEAKER_03The Fountain.
SPEAKER_07The Fountain. And so she owns the motel or the Inn and wrote this book. It was her first book. And we got to talk to her and meet her. And she was so nice. And her husband, too, is an artist and draws these like really cool fish. Um, has books as well.
SPEAKER_03Were you able to read any book or was No, you read it together. Oh, fun.
SPEAKER_07Yeah. Sometimes there's independent reading, but most of the time it's like you read in the circle and everyone reads two pages. Oh.
SPEAKER_08I get nervous reading that loud.
SPEAKER_07Well, so did I. So did I. And you're able to skip no questions asked, like no problem. But the whole point is like to get over that fear. And everyone messes up. So it's a welcoming. Yeah, and you realize that like everyone is having an issue. And I would be so nervous to tell you. A word I didn't know. I hated that. But now it's like even words you do know, you just say the wrong word. Yeah. And like everyone did it in the circle. And you just like you're told at the beginning, like you just like let them go on. Perfect. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Beautiful.
SPEAKER_07So that was fun. These were our little cute. So cute. Uh oh, I went um foldering.
unknownOh my god.
SPEAKER_03So it's not just working out. Of the mind. It's also working out of the body.
SPEAKER_07Correct. And you made a new friend. I made a new friend who took me bouldering. It was the first time I met her. She's a friend or a sister of someone I work with.
SPEAKER_10Okay.
SPEAKER_07Sisters.
SPEAKER_10Sisters.
SPEAKER_07And um she took me bouldering with her husband. I hadn't met either of them. We went to movement in also in Gowanas. And it was kind of great. Great. You did fall. I did fall. Yeah. But like that's par for the course. Of course. And I was not good, but I need more core strength.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Yeah. Would you go back?
SPEAKER_07I would. Great. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03June.
SPEAKER_07June was going to be. Yes. Um, I was gonna do an ASMR massage.
SPEAKER_02Okay, now we're we've lost the plot. At month six, we've lost the block.
SPEAKER_08Because we were supposed to do build the lamp. And so Laura's like, shoot, I have three days I have to find something.
SPEAKER_07What am I supposed to do? And so I was gonna do this massage, and like they just I love ASMR, and they were gonna like, I don't know, just like touch me. Tap. Tap and rub and whisper. Um, but then I had a migraine, which I think you've talked about on the pod. Yes. Yeah, so I had migraines. Debilitating. Debilitating, and I couldn't go, and then they wouldn't let me move it, so I had to pay for the massage, even though I didn't even does that count. No, it doesn't count. So then I was like, what am I supposed to do? I had two days left. Yes. Um, so I ended up going to other ship. Have you heard? No, it's a sauna cold plunge place. Okay. Because I've never cold plunged before. Cold plunge. I did bring this because this was a free thing you get if you for a first timer. It's the scent in the place. It's the incense scent.
SPEAKER_03I love incense. You do love incense.
SPEAKER_07You might like it. I think it's very nice.
SPEAKER_03I love this.
SPEAKER_07Right? So the whole place kind of smells like that. There's a big sauna. You get really hot and then you cold plunge, but it was effing freezing. I don't know if I can curse on this pod. Okay, it's fucking freezing. And the I uh was over there, it was dead silent, and I'm the only one being like, How are you guys doing this? Like it's so cold. And everyone's like, um, and these two girls were like, just come in with us and then get out when we get out. They were like, you can do it. And so I just did it with them. Yeah. And I did it for 90 seconds. That's great.
SPEAKER_09Amazing.
SPEAKER_07But then I was like, I don't think that's enough. Like I didn't really do June if I don't do it again. I just thought like I it wasn't enough. It didn't feel like I had multiple call cold plunge, I guess, to make me think I like really.
SPEAKER_09No, I think you did it once.
SPEAKER_07I did, but whatever. So then I went back in the sauna, got hot again, and then went back, and now no one's in there. And I'm like, uh, and then out comes this like guide.
SPEAKER_09Oh.
SPEAKER_07And she was like, Do you want me to guide you through it? And I said, Yes, please. Oh my god. So she had me breathe in and out, and then she had me get in, and she like talked to me, and she was the one looking at the clock instead of me, which I do think makes it go faster because you don't realize what's happening. Um, and then when I got out, she was like, Do you want some sound immersion?
SPEAKER_08And she like, This is feeling like the you got your ASMR, you wanted. Yes, and that must be an experience. Yeah. So I highly recommend. Great. When I was at the Jersey Shore, the water was so cold one day, and I was like, this is like a cold plunge. And Mike was like, Emily, this is like 70 degree water. Cold plunges are like 52.
SPEAKER_03It's unbelievable.
SPEAKER_07No, it's freezing.
SPEAKER_03I love this little challenge of yours. Me too. What else? What's on deck?
SPEAKER_07What's upcoming? Such a good question. We're building a lamp at Happy Media. Perfect. So that should be fun. So that's for July, even though like I don't think I'm gonna start building lamps. Yeah, it's just a new activity. It's like a new activity one day. Totally. Um, although we might be on our phone taking photos of the process. Totally. Yeah, exactly. Um, and then I feel like I've been following a lot of accounts that just do like random stuff. There's one, you would actually love it. It was like a placemat class. You build a placemat, but it was like this, it looked like a house.
SPEAKER_09Cute.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, and then you put your like cup on like a cloud above the house, was like part of the placemat. Adorable. Adorable. Adorable. Twins.
SPEAKER_03Um maternity leave can't come soon enough.
SPEAKER_07Okay.
SPEAKER_03Have you made new friends through this whole?
SPEAKER_08No. I thought you made one guy friend at pottery after six months.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, but he's not in my class anymore, so I never see him. And I was only friends with him for like two classes. Yeah. No, but I've like have met people and talked to new people and stuff like that. Correct. But no, I haven't like become best friends with anyone. Although my bouldering person, yeah, I kind of I hung out with her one other time at a magic show. Oh, you Kyle would like that.
SPEAKER_03Which magic show?
SPEAKER_07At um An Anise, Anis, I don't know how to say that bar. Anis, yes. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03I've not been to a magic show there. But you told me about it.
SPEAKER_07It was amazing. I love magic. Yeah, and it's it was so fun, and it's like a fun thing to do. It was like in the middle of the week.
SPEAKER_03You could take a magic lesson in my neighborhood. Okay. No, I need to. You got it for your birthday lesson.
SPEAKER_08But it reminds me of the Did you see that hacks episode?
SPEAKER_03Yes.
SPEAKER_08Wait, I have watched all the hacks episodes. Oh, yes, yes, yes.
SPEAKER_07That's what skips her the ick. She's like, I can't do that.
SPEAKER_03Yes, but you also know that I make my own balloon animals.
SPEAKER_08No.
SPEAKER_03Oh, I make my own balloon animals.
SPEAKER_08Oh, that's what you can do for my baby. Perfect. How often?
SPEAKER_03Once a month. We want to do I just th I have a pump in balloons in my apartment. Sometimes I'll just make sure that skill set is still in my background. Okay.
SPEAKER_08We want to do a man on the street where it's like, what were we saying? Answer these questions or.
SPEAKER_03No, you have to um follow Wowie on YouTube to get a balloon animal. Do all this stuff in the under the time it makes me take me to make a balloon animal.
SPEAKER_07Does it take you a long time?
SPEAKER_03It kind of can.
unknownYes.
SPEAKER_03Um, we are going to be right back with a round of obsessed her over it.
unknownAh.
SPEAKER_03And we're back.
SPEAKER_08This is seriously, like, so fun.
SPEAKER_03Oh my god, I'm so glad. Maybe extra magazine. Um we are running out of time, but we're going to run through some final hot topics. Emily, simply tell Laura if you're obsessed or over.
SPEAKER_08Are you not doing it?
SPEAKER_03Nope, it's just for you.
SPEAKER_08You guys.
SPEAKER_07Okay, ready? Okay.
SPEAKER_03When I have my baby, you can do it.
SPEAKER_07Ready? TikTok shop. Obsessed. Yeah. Summer Fridays. The brand? No. Fridays. Fridays that are for summer. Uh obsessed. Jack Antinoff.
SPEAKER_08Oof, I know. I'm gonna say obsessed because I love the bleachers. Okay. Hugo Spritz's. Uh I haven't had one in nine months, so over it.
SPEAKER_07But how excited are you to have one? Uh, I want an espresso martini. Okay. Um, IG instance. Oh, obsessed. I'm the only one in the world. Uh-huh.
SPEAKER_08Um, compression socks. Oh, I love them. I'm obsessed. Sorry. Sisters in the delivery room. Obsessed! Mike's like gonna need her there.
SPEAKER_07Um, strangers telling you it's a boy.
SPEAKER_08I'm like done. Done.
SPEAKER_07Over it? Yes. Cravings. I don't have them over it. Um, maternity photo shoots.
SPEAKER_08And now let's roll the slide.
SPEAKER_07Over it. Um, onesies with your podcast logo on them.
SPEAKER_08Oh my god, that's it. Shut up. Shut up. Oh my god, it's embroidered. Yes. Oh my. Are you kidding me? I guess that's an obsessed. This is our first merch.
SPEAKER_03There you go.
SPEAKER_08Oh my god.
SPEAKER_03For baby mystery.
SPEAKER_08Shut up. I am dead. Oh my god.
SPEAKER_03And we have a little princess cake for you.
SPEAKER_07Oh my god. It's kind of giving boob.
SPEAKER_03It is giving boob and Laura because we couldn't leave you without a gluten-free brownie for you.
SPEAKER_07I might just know I'm gluten-free and have migraines. That's about all they know.
SPEAKER_08But they know it a lot.
SPEAKER_03A little sweet treat.
SPEAKER_08This is where'd you get this done?
SPEAKER_03Um, Julia got it on Etsy.
SPEAKER_08Jules!
SPEAKER_03Adorable.
SPEAKER_08I'm holding it up like it'll fit me. Maybe after baby.
SPEAKER_03It will. Um, we have some predictions we want to make, and we'll we'll revisit them because when this episode comes out, baby will be here.
SPEAKER_07Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Baby will be here.
SPEAKER_07That's kind of crazy. Yeah, should be.
SPEAKER_03All right.
SPEAKER_07As my dad would say, so random. Yeah, that's what he said about. That's what he's been saying.
SPEAKER_03It is so random. Isn't it? Um, this is basically calci. Boy or girl.
SPEAKER_07I think boy because everyone's told me boy. I kind of think boy too, but maybe girl.
SPEAKER_03I'm gonna say that's not how calci works. Boy or girl, Laura.
SPEAKER_08Um, girl.
SPEAKER_03I'll say girl as well.
SPEAKER_08You're just saying that, you guys.
SPEAKER_03Yes.
SPEAKER_08Completely. Oh, I think it's gonna be like 10 pounds.
SPEAKER_03Oh, Laura.
SPEAKER_08Um, I'm gonna go eight, four.
SPEAKER_03I will go 9.2. Okay. Length.
SPEAKER_08This is so hard. I have like no idea what that means. Where's a ruler? I'll say 18 inches because I just saw that on my phone the other day.
SPEAKER_07But that's a normal size. Sure. I don't know. Then I'll go 19.
SPEAKER_03I'll go 16 because I want it to be a really short fat baby. Duration of labor.
SPEAKER_08This is hard because I think it could be like like a day, like a full 24 hours. You're not in the hospital like doing that for that long.
SPEAKER_03I'll say 18 hours.
SPEAKER_08No, that we no. Let's go. Like, I'd like to be there for two.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, let's go. I'm in the delivery room, everybody. Yeah, let's go, let's go two.
SPEAKER_04You think you think she's gonna be in labor for two hours? You said 18?
SPEAKER_07I said 24. It's a long process. Like, you're talking from like the very first I think it's different. Like, I could push for two hours. Sometimes the pushing is really fast. I guess what is labor?
SPEAKER_08Drew?
SPEAKER_03Karl Marx, what is labor? Um, what do you think? Oh, you said 24. 24. Arrival date.
SPEAKER_08I think it could be early because it's big baby. Um, I'm gonna say August 2nd.
SPEAKER_07I'll go August 1st.
SPEAKER_03I'll go August 3rd. Will Mike faint?
SPEAKER_07Yes.
unknownYes.
SPEAKER_07If not faint, he's gonna be rosy, yes, wheezy.
SPEAKER_03His demeanor will not be good.
SPEAKER_07Eyes will be closed.
SPEAKER_08Yes, yeah. I had to see him yesterday when we were getting our life insurance. He was getting his blood pressure done. Oh god, he couldn't even do that. And he was like trying to like get his levels. I was like, what are you? It's you're just getting your blood pressure taken. And it was high. There was one time, well, remember his the arm? Yeah, when we went to a COVID thing. The cast.
SPEAKER_07Uh the sling. The sling. He was he was writing to us. We we were somewhere, and he was like, I hurt my arm, and we're like, okay, like great. Yeah. And we get home, and he comes out, his arm's in a sling. He bought himself a sling.
SPEAKER_08And we were like, he hasn't done anything for himself. He bought himself a sling. He went out and bought a sling. For that your hurt arm. Like it was like so crazy. So don't even know what he did to it. And it's fine. He's never gotten surgery. Like it wasn't a big deal. So embarrassed. No, it was of course.
SPEAKER_03We like, we were both like No, men are humiliating.
SPEAKER_08They're so embarrassing.
SPEAKER_03So embarrassing.
SPEAKER_08So embarrassing. Mike, especially. I'm kidding. No, kind of. He doesn't listen. He says he does, but.
SPEAKER_03Great. We can just talk about what we want. Um, Emily, do you have any final thoughts?
SPEAKER_08Well, Drew said yesterday, he goes, I wonder what you're gonna be like after you have the baby. And I'm wondering if I'm just gonna go in after this and be like, hi, everybody. Like a nice person.
SPEAKER_03I'm just saying you think you're gonna turn like a mellow. Or I'm gonna be like I think it's the latter.
SPEAKER_08I don't know. We'll see. I guess we'll see. Yeah, what do you think I'll be like? Or you'll yell at, or like there's more yelling.
SPEAKER_03You guys know me more yelling.
SPEAKER_08More yelling. How about there's no yelling now?
SPEAKER_03I mean, I don't get it.
SPEAKER_07There's no yelling now.
SPEAKER_03I certainly don't get it being.
SPEAKER_07Not yelling, but like she's like a perfectionist. Yes.
SPEAKER_03I think it's going to be great, and then it's going to be tough, and then it's going to be great, and then it's going to be tough.
SPEAKER_08Like it's a roller coaster. Yeah, absolutely. That's what I hear. That's life.
SPEAKER_03Exactly. Um I know.
SPEAKER_08And I'm gonna miss um talking to you every week.
SPEAKER_03Here. Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_08Here.
SPEAKER_03Yes. I actually feel like I haven't spoken to you in so long because I've been so nervous about this surprise that I was like, I can't let it slip. Oh my god. I cannot let it slip.
SPEAKER_08This is crazy what's happening right now.
SPEAKER_07Will I ever be invited back?
SPEAKER_03No.
SPEAKER_07Um let us know in the comments below if you want us to me to come back.
SPEAKER_03Absolutely. Do you have anything you want to plug and promote?
SPEAKER_07Oh yeah. Like what?
SPEAKER_03Madison Square Garden, Radio City, your personal handles.
SPEAKER_08No. Great. Well tell me. Yeah. She was a micro influencer. She is. I was at one point. She was the first person to like tell me about Instagram.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_08And now she never posts. I did been on a like four-year hiatus.
SPEAKER_03I actually do have a question for you because we kind of talked to Erica about this.
SPEAKER_07Oh, I love her. She was amazing. Hi Erica.
SPEAKER_03Now that you like do social media for work, how has it your relationship with it changed for your personal life?
SPEAKER_07I think completely. You've like so I used to do I before my new job where I'm only social, I was marketing in general. So it was like all different things. So I wasn't as focused on social. So I literally was on Instagram all the time and I posted literally every day, I think, for years. And then as soon as I got this job, which I'm only focused on social media, I literally have not posted.
SPEAKER_03I think that's probably healthy.
SPEAKER_07But it is a job. I still have to be right.
SPEAKER_03You're still plugged in, of course.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, like I have to know what's going on and stuff, but I'm not, it's just too much.
SPEAKER_03And you're so good at it. Like you're what you've done. What you've done for the brand is amazing.
SPEAKER_08And you've given us tips. You helped us come up with the idea for our opening. Yes.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, the opening credit, if you like it.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, Laura's idea. Fire me.
SPEAKER_03Um, Emily.
SPEAKER_08I'm gonna miss you guys.
SPEAKER_03We are going to miss you. We love you. You'll be back.
SPEAKER_08She'll be back. Oh my god.
SPEAKER_03And now the closing number. Um, you're going to do such a fantastic job. You're going to thank you.
SPEAKER_08You're going to be a great uncle. You're going to be a great aunt.
SPEAKER_03Thank you.
SPEAKER_08I keep getting t-shirts that say um the hot single uncle.
SPEAKER_07Oh, there is one of those that I do need.
SPEAKER_08So you yeah, I need to get you a hot single uncle, hot single aunt.
SPEAKER_03Can't wait.
SPEAKER_08Yeah.
SPEAKER_03I will not be in the delivery room. Not interested.
SPEAKER_08You'll be out in the waiting room with Dodo.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. We'll be at lunch down the street.
SPEAKER_08At the mark.
SPEAKER_03Um thank you, everyone.
SPEAKER_08Thank you so much. Thank you for all my things. Bye. Thank you for being here, Laura. Of course.
SPEAKER_03Bye.
SPEAKER_08Bye. Oh my god. This is crazy.
SPEAKER_03Thanks for tuning in.
SPEAKER_08Are you obsessed with us? Please like, comment, and subscribe.
SPEAKER_03Bye.
SPEAKER_07I'm. Do I say who I am? I'm Laura the Ant.
SPEAKER_06I think that, um Okay, I would say a piece of advice for the baby is you have so many beautiful people in your life like your Aunt Laura and your beautiful mom and your beautiful grandmother and your beautiful second cousin. And whenever you need anything, reach out. Call us. You have so many beautiful tiny women to support you. Don't go into show business.
SPEAKER_07You should.
SPEAKER_05This is more of an excitement thing, but I can't wait for Julie and I to come over and just hang out with baby at your apartment. Maybe take them for baby book club, go out to dinner, brunch. We just can't wait to meet you, baby.
SPEAKER_07I think that like the baby should call or your the piece of advice for the baby for Emily.
SPEAKER_11No, no, no. Loved ones. Babies be babies. And it sounds really simple and stupid, but when they're crying, just be like, babies be babies.
SPEAKER_04My piece of advice is to trust your gut. Don't listen to other people, unless it's your mom or relatives or people who have had children before, but don't listen to childless people. They don't know what they're talking about, including me. So basically, what I'm telling you right now, ignore, but trust your gut. It will all be okay. And I think it's okay to want some time for yourself and to make sure that you are also doing okay. Your kid will be fine and they won't remember any of this.
SPEAKER_01So just focus on yourself. Just enjoy your time together. Unfortunately, I'm not gonna be able to top what Zoe just said because it was so heartfelt. But Emily, you already have the instincts. You're gonna be an incredible mom. There's not any doubt in my mind, and this baby is so lucky to have you. So just have so much fun together.
SPEAKER_05I'll be over on September 1st to hold the baby if you want to take a shower.
SPEAKER_00Get your rest and make rules. Stick to the rules. And don't let Mike into too much.
SPEAKER_11You didn't give me enough time to think. This is advice that I have gotten from other people. Um, everything is a phase, so just take it all as it comes. Everything is temporary and you'll get through it.
SPEAKER_10My advice, Emily, is to never forget who you are. You are little M. Rhymes, and you are gonna crush being a mother. And little baby, you're gonna have the coolest parents ever. Count your lucky stars. The dog plays with cat toys, the cat plays with bobby pins, and the baby plays a dog toys. So don't buy anything. You're gonna be so good. I'm so excited for you. I can't wait to hold the baby. Love you.
SPEAKER_03Dodo.
SPEAKER_00I'm so obsessed with baby showers. I think they're really great. And but I've never had a baby, but I think it's really exciting, and I'd like to be on the next podcast whenever whenever I really love Kyle. I'm obsessed with Kyle. He's fabulous. And Emily, I'm really shy at these things, but um, okay, bye.
SPEAKER_03My advice is don't listen to Mike.
SPEAKER_07A baby should like call me, and I can have like we can have a fun time when Emily's like kind of being a you know what. Because I think sometimes she can be.
