SPEAKER_02So, okay, let's go talk about because you have so many cute things in here. Like I'm just like so um let's talk about some of the other things that you guys do besides flowers. So we have um wind chimes, which I'm putting like they can wind chime chimes, we'll take a picture.
SPEAKER_00We will take a picture and overlay it so they can see the wind chime. Um wind chimes. Most of the ones here are um sympathy chimes. Um in our other shops at online, which obviously can get here, um, we have some solid color ones. Uh most of the time those go for sympathy, though. Sometimes I try to get some fun and shoot. It's okay. Um, but yeah, we have chimes and then there's some candles and some signs and just some gifty. My thing is I want I want I love the like I love the last minute flowers. Like, hey, I just wanted to stop by, like, I'm going to lunch with my friend. She's had a rough day. Like, I'm gonna get her some flowers. And then the idea behind, like, I mean, I think any place, like, gift items are obviously gifts, but I like the just random gift items because, like, I don't know, like there's a little sign that says pray, pray, pray. Like, and someone, and maybe they come in for flowers, or maybe they were coming in for flowers, but they're like, No, like this, like she needs this or whatever. So I love that. Um, and then we have we added um a basket bar, so you can start with your I say oh basket or vessel. We have some um makeup bags, and there was something else that I had in maybe just the baskets, the baskets, oh, cups. We've done them like in the glass tumblers, like put some pins and stuff in it and then wrapped them. But the basket bar just uh I mean you can a la carte get anything off of there, but just a little, like if you needed, I don't know, a friend needed a pick-ne-up and you wanted to like put some hair ties and the I should be a fancier person than this, but you know, the little eye roller thingies that just all those, yeah, no it's so clearly I don't do that, but yeah, uh so yeah, just I don't know. And then we have lanterns, and those are kind of more of the sympathy. I mean, there's some plain lanterns, but I feel like lanterns are typically like the sympathy arrangements. Plants, um, dish garden plants for again that sympathy. I don't know. I say that, but there's a lot of times that people will buy, we have a small, I don't need one in here. We have a small dish garden that like a lot of times it's like in a little ceramic, and like people will buy those like for friends, like just oh that's cute. I will say, while I have a voice, um, dish gardens, it is important to separate them like when you get them because they are not meant to stay in those forever. Oh, so like because there's multiple plants in so yeah, taking I had no idea. That's interesting.
SPEAKER_02Well, I was gonna say it's a lot like I didn't have any idea of the phone. We'll take a picture. We can take a picture, we'll take a picture of it and we'll just overlay it. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Um, she's allowed.
SPEAKER_02That's good.
SPEAKER_00Um, but yeah, and I yeah, I didn't know until I got into this and was like, oh, well, that's probably when my dad's blitz died. I've been saying the same thing.
SPEAKER_02How come that one died? And that one, like, I got a beautiful big basket before I can't remember beautiful. And I was like, oh my gosh, this is so gorgeous. And then everything died.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Because they have all these different well, and my grandma, she knew about it, but she never filled me in on that because she's got ones from my mom's funeral, and she's like got them sitting all in her sunroom, and I'm like, who are you? And why didn't you tell me all this before?
SPEAKER_02But okay, it's fine. So I don't think most people know that. Because I think when it comes in and it looks beautiful, yeah, yeah, that okay, yeah.
SPEAKER_00And some of it's just because each of those plants like need water and sunlight differently. So um, and then we have obviously we have fresh flowers in the um breach and cooler for grab and goes right now. I have to take orders, and then we have bows. Um, so we did a we've we've done two now, and we're trying to get like that, but it's just a lot, it's just a Facebook live um of different like seasonal bows. We did Christmas one and then we did um a spring one. So you have like a beautiful one behind you.
SPEAKER_02There we go. We're there. Yes. Yeah, so they're fun. Um, and so you do a lot of Facebook lives. I mean, getting into that. I love it. Trying. Well, we're the video people, so we get that. Yeah, we get that. Yeah, I was gonna say trying.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah. Well, and I I laugh because I know that I say um too much, I know that I say things too much, but I'm like, you know what? I'm just I'm gonna do it. I'm I go all in. I do not watch it again because I'm like, I don't want to look at myself.
SPEAKER_01That's what I don't want to do.
SPEAKER_00And I don't want to listen. Like it was great.
SPEAKER_01Loved it. First time from it.
SPEAKER_02I say, okay. And our podcast a lot. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. I just did it. I'm like, okay, yeah. And um and I will um so yes. But I think that's unfortunately I watch it back when I go back and edit. But um is that hard? Here no, yes, I hate my voice. I hate because I'd be like, I just want to scratch it all and redo it. But I hate my voice. Jocelyn um like tapes our uh board meetings, and then she'll play it back for when she's doing her minute, and I have to shut the door and like turn on music because I hate my voice.
SPEAKER_00So then I don't really think there's like a I mean there probably is, some people might think. So I put, I don't know. A lot of times I do threes. I don't know what two. We'll do whatever. We'll do twos today. We're fine. Um it kind of just depends on it's it depends on the price of the arrangement you're making, and I can see if we just put that back in. Um, but I just piece like some of the more like focal blooms in. So I have rose, pop pink roses, and then um these are just carnations. Okay, I didn't do that one. I do carnation. And carnations, I feel like give it get a bad wrap. Sometimes like sometimes people are like, oh, I just I don't know. I feel like they're like strong like carnation haters, but I just feel like the texture and like what they add to it sometimes when it's a mix, like no, I probably don't like an all carnation arrangement, but um, so we'll do carnations first. So you can they're pretty durable little puppies, so I just kind of fan them out, and then I take, I don't know why, I leave these little guys on here because I don't think they're cute, and then I take all the others off. Um with these, the biggest thing is you I should have been saying that some of this I'm just assuming and I shouldn't have done that. Um, cut everything at an angle now that we're here.
SPEAKER_01That's what I think I did know that part.
SPEAKER_00And that's just so that there's more surface area for the water or yeah, for the flower to drink. Um but with carnations, you just don't want to cut on the little knot, like do it above or below them just because that helps keep the water going through it. And then again, like I just kind of when I do threes, I just kind of place them around. Um I'll let you guys do the fine.
SPEAKER_01See, look, fine. Okay, so if I wanted to like come in and like, oh hey, I'm going to dinner with my mom, I want to smoke flowers. Is that like I just tell you I want a pink one, blue one, purple one? Or like do I like go look and pick? Okay, so or can I even do that?
SPEAKER_00Well, it's kind of all which I feel like as we've grown, like a business model has changed each time because like see what works. So, right now, currently we do um all the designing in Plainfield, which kind of hurt my heart a little bit because I was like down pulling like that from Morrisville. But we do designing in Plainfield and then send anything that's like pre-ordered to Morseville and Danville, and then I guess here, I don't have to say, um, but then we do keep this cooler stock, like the reach in cooler stocked for like anyone that walks in. Um, so you could walk in and pick whatever you wanted. Um, you could, I mean, calling in early enough in the day, like, hey, I'm I'm going to dinner with my mom. She loves blue, like, whatever, I'm gonna pick up and dance and then we'll make sure it's here and ready for you. Okay, gotcha. Um, so that's yeah, that's kind of that's a little part of the it works really well, but then it is kind of hard, like sometimes like if someone is like walking in like right now and they want XYZ and you don't have it, but I think I mean they should just get a crook or maybe. That's kind of like anything. Yeah, I don't like it's kind of like anything though. I feel like I don't know, like you can only you can you can't please everyone at the same time.
SPEAKER_02So it's worked really well. Okay, I have three different sizes.
SPEAKER_00I like that. I was gonna say that so sometimes and it again it depends on the look you're going for, it depends on the like what the arrangement is. I like it. I know. I think it's yes, I love it. I love your yeah, yeah. Um my one little card. So then the hot pink roses. I just any of these that are, I don't know, just look not great. Okay. Um and then do oh, sorry, I started down here. So start it up there. Okay. And take any of those off. And then they do have thorns. I didn't send it off for you. Okay. So I just like snap the thorns off.
SPEAKER_01Okay, do you does it stab me or good?
SPEAKER_00Um yeah, it will. It will. But it did. It did. It did. It did. Well, and some of those low enough, like you're not even, like, you can.
SPEAKER_01Oh, I don't even.
SPEAKER_00Watch out. She has had enough. She already got wet today.
SPEAKER_01Can I just leave like one?
SPEAKER_00Oh yeah, you left one. I do. And I think it just depends on how it what it looks like. But yeah, I leave them to the time.
SPEAKER_01You said take off the petals that are like not Yeah. Okay. So yeah, I would take that one and that one. Oh, just pick.
unknownYeah, look at that.
SPEAKER_01I feel like I'm supposed to be so gentle.
SPEAKER_00He loves me, he loves me not.
SPEAKER_01Okay. Cute. And you put it where?
SPEAKER_00Just wherever you're in there. Just yeah. Just kind of place it in there in a little bit.
SPEAKER_02So is there like a favorite arrangement you like to make or your favorite good question?
SPEAKER_00I don't know. I mean, not necessarily a favorite. I love designer's choice. Like when people order designer's choice. And I like when they give you some, like, oh, she loves pinks or whatever. Yeah. But I feel like those are fun because then you can kind of do what you want or like what's in the cooler. Like, you can make a cool arrangement out of like the cooler things that or the things that are in the cooler that I don't know. So I do like that. Um I like the pink ones. I like them. Yeah, they're just fun.
SPEAKER_01They are fun.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, because you just you just keep going and it's I don't know, it's fine.
SPEAKER_01Do you like doing like prom bouquets and stuff, or does that stress you out?
SPEAKER_00Um, okay, it's gotten better. We kind of have a good system now. Um and just know like what works and what doesn't. Like, I use spray roses, some of that's just because I know that they're like sturdy and gonna work. Um carnations are okay, but like for corsages, I feel like they're harder. Um, so now we have a like good system, it's a lot better. The first couple years though, oh, I hated it. But I was also one of our designers was with me. Our second prompt, but our first prompt was just me. So then it's like, which obviously was a lot less orders too. Yeah. But just the stress of like, I don't know.
SPEAKER_02So the girls have gone to like bouquets now. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01That's why I did my senior year, and I said, here's my dress, here are the colors I kind of like, make me something. Oh, I have another room.
SPEAKER_00I feel like the I feel like the um bouquets are fun. Yeah, I agree. Even though I'm like not selling it. Um, even though I feel like those get sat down. I don't know, I should see it sat down too much.
SPEAKER_02I want to say I took Cameron's and put it in water.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I have to picture myself and took mine home. Oh, okay. Well then that's a yeah.
SPEAKER_01Then that's great. Yeah, and then I just put it and have a mobile night spam. I feel like this will be.
SPEAKER_00Well, this will be your first prompt from here in the square.
SPEAKER_01Have you started stuff? I mean, I'm getting orders, I mean.
SPEAKER_00Um, yeah, there's there both Danville orders or Danville Proms?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, but it's not until next month, so I'm not sure they're we just had someone right before they came in here, they got one for it starting to figure out. Okay, so do you know about Danville Prom? No. Okay, so I'm just gonna warn you. Okay, I need this. Um Danville Prom. Every high school student comes here on the square and takes the pictures. Okay. Like the street like pretty much shuts down because kids are everywhere and they're getting pictures and stuff. So I'm just gonna tell you we need some installment. Photo op opportunity. Uh yes. So just no that's let you know it is hundreds of high schoolers and their parents on the square, and then you'll have the young men that'll probably walk in and go, I was gonna say I think that mine's like a week before.
SPEAKER_00Last year it was really good. Like we had um, we had just a bunch of made like extras just neutral things, yeah. And which those were perfect for the I mean, I feel like that personality, like they're just thankful for whatever, anyways. So we had those, like, so we'll do that here. And actually, I'm glad that you said that because now we're like, okay, maybe we need more because and then we're just like, hey! Anyone working there? Oh!
SPEAKER_01I don't see how for the people who don't have dates, too. Just be like, here, yeah, come back.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, you don't have a date, but here's flowers. You need that at least.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, definitely.
SPEAKER_00Uh so these are favorites of mine. What are these? These are Veronica.
SPEAKER_01Veronica.
SPEAKER_00So I tried, yeah, I tried to bring some, I mean, there's some usual things. So I love flowers so much.
SPEAKER_02So you were a stay-at-home mom before you started. Yes. Did what did what did you do? Did what did you do anything before you had children?
SPEAKER_00Yes. So I have a degree in psychology and I was working, um, I worked at Centerstone in Mooresville and Martinsville, so Morgan County. But um, so I was a family support specialist, so I would and I would work with like DCS cases too. But so worked with like kids with like behavior issues and like helping them like in school with like paying attention and like in the family. Um, then I was a health coach right before I um left and did, I worked with like some like more older um like on like scheduling their doctor's appointments or going with them to help them. Um like and some of them like they didn't have families or like support systems to like go and be an extra week set of years. Yeah. And then um, then once we were pregnant with my second daughter, we or I stayed home. I said I'm out. Yeah. Well, after I had the first, well, my mom was a stay-at-home mom, and then a bus driver and a hairstylist. I mean, yeah, anyways, she was a hairstylist first too. But she studied home with us, and I was like, she's like, what if you become a stay-at-home mom? And I was like, I would never, never doing that. Literally had Mara, our oldest, and then went back to work and like cried every day, and rather just like make it one year. And I was like, okay, one year. And so I had it on my calendar, one year. And then I was like a couple months away from paying, like paying off my school loans, so I was like, okay, I can make it and get those paid off, so then I don't feel like I'm staying home and have school loans that I'm not using.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00So I did, and then was staying with them. And sometimes, like, I thought this was gonna just be like a fun little because I used to just run into the shop and make whatever like orders like from friends and stuff, and then it just kind of kept happening.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, but it's been you when you go.
SPEAKER_00It's so fun, and it's literally so fun. I was gonna say, sometimes, like, you have your mo just like anything, you have your moments where you're like and like something's happening, yeah. But then, like, you do, and I'm like, I mean, how can I complain? These are flowers. Yeah, okay. So, and I mean, obviously, like you could see, like, you could start being done, but I don't think that's fun. Um, so this is um solidago, and actually, we probably find this too. Yeah, solidego. I like this one, yeah. Actually, um so a lot of times it's bright yellow, but they know that I love this one, and it's like in the spring. So this is Estelle. Um, and it's just like the softer yellow. Yeah, but I feel like any arrangement, any arrangement that I can get by with it, Solid Ay was always in because I love it. So I just put it in there, and it's just kind of that like so you took off pieces, yes. I took off pieces. Okay, that's okay. Yeah, it's just a lot of it. And if you're doing like a centerpiece that has like foam, wet foam in it, like you'll use a like you'll be able to use all these little pieces. But for the arrangements, that's a little harder.
SPEAKER_02Or your daughter can make her trash bouquet.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, she can make her trash bouquet with piece. Yep. I feel like is that too much? Fuck too much. I don't think so, because I think you could put it in the middle and kind of spread it. Or that one's long enough, you can pop that off and just put it lower. Nice. Mine were all too short.
SPEAKER_02There we go. So your husband, I'm guessing, does not make flowers. Um, okay.
SPEAKER_00I mean, no, but yes. He has had to. Um he can do a dozen roses. Like, he can do that pretty easy. He can do, he can do a picture. He does much better with like a picture or something that's already started. Yeah. So if he has a picture of it, he can do it. Um, yes. Mine is like I'm gonna give it to Christopher and like once we can get them. And this was just uh, I mean, you could be done now, but I don't I don't think it wasn't. These are billy balls. Billy balls! Billy balls.
SPEAKER_01They look like they're from the Lorax or something.
SPEAKER_00Yep, billy balls. Love billy balls. So and they're just fun, so I felt like we needed them. So these I do. Kind of stair-step, like you were stair-stepping your doing kind of different sizes. I do like to do that.
SPEAKER_01Oh, wait, okay.
SPEAKER_00You do it. I just like all those are going all around. Um this is the video. I just feel like sometimes it finishes a little bit.
SPEAKER_02So far, what has been like the most surprising thing about doing business in Daniel?
SPEAKER_00Um I think I think it's more of like what I love, which I'm changing the question. Um, I just love this is the only shop, I mean, I think it's on Main Street, but this is the only shop, like, on the square, like in town. And I think and that's why I say I don't know about surprising because I'm not surprised that Dandel people are like out and about. But I just I love and think that person like super cool. I love the like um like events that are put on and like to bring people into town. And I know that those aren't I know like car shows aren't necessarily like flower, but it still brings people in town and lets like it gives you an opportunity to say, hey, we're here, like when you do need flowers. Absolutely. Or also there are men out there that maybe already get their wives flowers for Mother's Day or Valentine, whatever. So I love uh love slash I mean, I guess it was surprised. I didn't know, I mean I didn't know about all that. So I love the events and I just love how um like busy the square is like yeah, like just walking and last question, last question, last question.
SPEAKER_02Just like you did your last question.
SPEAKER_01Oh yeah, sorry, we're literally like a long time ago. Okay, um I forgot to warn you once again I did this in the video. Um but if you had like one piece of live advice that is advice description or something that you're trying to like live by that you want to share with them.
SPEAKER_00Um I would say again, like I just encourage everything that comes to mind. Um, I think so Matthew 57517. Matthew 516 is um our like family first, so it's like if I check it for others so that um they can see no like on the spots anyways it's got to five sixteen, so go check it out. Yeah, um but so like trying to like for others and trying to wait like for God. So like I think that's my biggest thing with this that I've tried to share like along the way without I try not to like I think the Facebook lines and stuff like some of them are like educational, but like I want to eventually give it to where like I am like sharing like the story because I think that is super important and like it's not just me. Like I um I can give myself the ability to do flowers like he did, so I think like letting like yeah, like um people coming in and being able to like give kindness or give back to others, like so. I think that's like the biggest kind of like what it all goes back to. Um my kids like they can rabble off the house. I love you I can't wait for her.
SPEAKER_02I love that. I don't thank you all. Um thank you. This is so much fun. Um thank you. You can see her on the square, yes, or in plain fill, your fill, yep, um call or the hours. Um have in some really cool gifts. I love I love all the cool gifts.
SPEAKER_01So very cool. Thank you.
