SPEAKER_01

Hello, and welcome back to another episode of the Let's Talk podcast. My name is Hannah Kemmington, and I'm so glad to be back with you yet again for another episode of this lovely podcast. And today, what am I gonna talk about? Uh, well, you'll have to wait and see. But first, I want to talk about if I have tried anything new lately because I seem to be called the foodie when I talk to certain people because they're always asking me, what have I tried lately? And I'm like, well, I don't know. Sometimes I will have a cold sprout, and sometimes I'll have a few things that I have tried that I would like to talk about. And for today's episode, I have a few things that I have tried, which is ever exciting because y'all always on your toes and wanting to know what I've tried, both food and drink-wise. And I think you'll like these of what I've tried. So I'm excited to tell you what I've tried. And what have I tried? Let's see. Well, I finally got my hands on the energy Shirley Temple bloom that people have been talking about. And I'm so excited I got to try that. And I would have to agree with people. The energy one has more of a cherry flavor than the soda pop one does. And they're both equally good. It's just it depends on what you're in the mood for. Sometimes you're more in the mood for more cherry, and sometimes you want less. So it just depends on the mood of what do you want? Because I enjoyed both, I will say, in that it is something I will probably be buying again because I am a sucker for anything cherry flavored. And that includes for ice drinks as well. Because a little numb fact, for a long period of time, probably for a good year, year and a half, when I was heavily drinking ice drinks, I really like the black cherry flavor and the cherry lime flavored ice drinks that you buy at the grocery store. And I consumed those quite a bit during that time. And then I got kind of died out on that flavor, and people kept buying it. I was like, well, I'm kind of tired of cherry, but now I'm rediving back into cherry-flavored things at the current moment. And yes, I'm also the one that will drink a cherry LA. And people give me so much crap about it too. Because they're like, the cherry LA's not as good as the other flavors. Well, your girl loves cherry flavored things, so get over it. What was before I talk about the other one? People will be asking if I've tried the cherry flavored life lifesaver drink. I said I would get around to trying. I have not gotten around to trying it yet. I will hopefully get to it soon. I know I keep saying I'm gonna try it. It's just sometimes you forget to try stuff. It's like it's at the back of your mind, you're you're gonna say, oh, I'm gonna try it, but then you don't. So that might be in another episode of me talking about if I feel like talking about it, if I remember. What was the other thing I tried that has crossed my mind that I have gotten? Well, I can tell you Costco is a sucker for delicious things. And I seem it's always what people say in the social media realm of you go into Costco for a couple of things and come out with way more than what you wanted. Yeah, that I think happened um when a certain person went to Costco just recently and came back with a very interesting treat I had not thought about grabbing while at Costco. And I have thoroughly enjoyed these since I have tried them. And I am like, why did you bring those home? But and I've talked about Dubai chocolates, by the way, on this podcast uh podcast as well. And a couple episodes ago when I tried Ghirardelli's version, yeah, Ghirardelli's. Yes, my my certain family member came home with Dubai like a Dubai chocolate waffle cone. It's like the waffle cone ends and they were filled with Dubai Dubai chocolate. I know some people are not a fan of Dubai chocolate, but I thought it was the perfect amount for the size it was, and that nobody will be disappointed when eating this. So you might want to re-give it a try. Just saying, if you were wanting less of that pistachio, it was very much less pistachio. Was there anything else I tried that I have not talked about? Not that I can think of at the current moment because I've kind of slowed down on trying new things lately because stuff is expensive.

SPEAKER_00

So yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And I'm I'm just now remembering I did eat a Louisiana-styled restaurant and that I've been to a lot growing up. It's it's like you go, it feels like once a year, and you keep saying, uh, we're gonna eat there more, and we keep forgetting when we go to like Sinton. But I I went to this Louisiana-styled rest restaurant just recently, actually, the night we saw the Michael movie. Yeah, that night. Because of where the movie theater was, there was a Louisiana-style restaurant we liked going to. And we went over there, and so yeah, we went over there, and I had completely forgotten what I had ordered the year prior, and it took me a minute to realize what did I want. And I got this drunken chicken, is the best way I can describe it. It was very creamy and spicy. So if you can tolerate spice, I think you can handle that dish. I did enjoy the dish, it was very filling, and it also came with a side of garlic bread too, that is very delicious. I always go for the garlic bread first. I don't know why, because it's so good, and I don't want it to be ruined by the spiciness of the food. And something else I'm gonna say about myself that people really don't know about is I also am not a huge fan of rice, and when I go there, I usually get pasta over rice with that is underneath the main dish. So I got pasta underneath the drunken chicken, which is all it also goes really well with pasta. Probably the same with rice if you ever go there. And so I got the drunken chicken, it was really good. It like just had a good feeling, and something about Louisiana food is it is always very spicy. I don't know why, but it seems to be coming ever more spicy for my liking, and I don't know if I appreciate it or not, so who knows? Someday I might appreciate it, I don't know when that day will be, but that is not the main topic of today's episode. If you looked at the title, we're talking about a new set list that came out of musical artists you can go buy tickets for, and that is Riverbend. I don't know if anybody has ever been to Riverbend at all. Yeah, it we're talking about Riverbend. Uh I talked about Bourbon and Beyond just a couple episodes ago, and I was scrolling through my Instagram account and came across Riverbend. And I've never been to Riverbend, by the way, is an outdoor venue between Louisville and Cincinnati. If you know, please correct me. I've never been, but I've heard it's a good time and a good place to listen to music in the summertime, yeah. In the summertime, and everybody I talk to always enjoys when they go to riverbend. From anybody I've talked to who goes to live music events. I think that is one of my goals in the next couple of years is to go to riverbend. Maybe this year I saw an act I am kind of interested in. We're gonna get to that at a some point in this episode, so just stay tuned because there was a couple acts that caught my interest. I will get into details of an act that has canceled. I was kind of waiting to do this episode, I was kind of wanting to do it with somebody, but I have just gone and I'm gonna do it myself. I don't know how long this episode's gonna be. Bear with me. I'm trying to go through these local music venues between Kentucky and surrounds Kentucky, and Riverbend is one of those big ones. I said where it's located, hopefully correctly. When does the season start? I am gonna look that up. Just bear with me. I am trying to remember when stuff happens because every place does it very much differently. So its first concert will be in early May. So pretty soon. Actually, I should have been recording this sooner. Okay, I love my life. So I'm gonna be working around. This might be considered an extra episode, so yeah, it starts on May the 8th, so coming up pretty soon.

SPEAKER_00

I really wanna see who is their first act. Yeah, let's see.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, the first act that we'll be playing on May the 8th, if you are very curious, is Sat Satch Vi Band, Satch Vi Band featuring Joe Sat Satarini and Steve Vi. I hope I am saying that correctly. I'm gonna butcher names, please forgive me. I'm just gonna be honest with y'all. I butcher names like nobody's problem because I am from the south, which Kentucky is considered a bordering south state. If you did not know, little small known fact. I just I have to spit facts every now and then, y'all. Because y'all ask questions. And I'm looking through my Instagram because I save stuff. Okay, yeah. You always gotta save stuff. So the season starts on May the 8th and ends on looks like September 19th with Brooks and Dunn. But it might be going till October. We'll have to wait and see. But it sounds like they go from beginning of May to the middle of September. They might go up until louder in life to bourbon and beyond, is kind of how I'm seeing how their season works. If I'm looking at their schedule correctly, and it's an interesting list of who will be coming to Riverbend. And I have some sad news for this, and some of y'all might be a little sad when y'all are hearing this. Is that Megan Trainer, who was signed up to be a part of this Riverbend season, sadly dropped out. We don't know why she dropped out, but she dropped uh and she was supposed to be on June 20th. Well, sadly, we don't know who's replacing her, so there might not be anything on June 20th. They haven't announced who's replacing her. I would love to know who was replac would be replacing her. That's also why I was kind of waiting to record this because I kind of wanted to know is have they replaced anybody? Because I want to know, and it looks like they have not replaced anybody. So sadly, yeah, nobody has replaced Megan Trainer. There will be nobody taking her spot, and sometimes it's hard to find people that will will replace them. Who okay? I'm looking at my and what artists stood out to me when I was slowly looking through this last list. What was I saying? List well, of course, Megan Trainer was one of them, Darius Rucker. Who else was there? Five Seconds of Summer, Hilary Duff, who's been making a comeback just recently. She released some new music. I don't know if y'all have been listening to some of that new music. I don't know my feelings on it. I had I have been listening to it. I have some mixed feelings. Some people are liking it. I will say it's more tolerable than Taylor Swift's. So I will pro I will listen to Hillary Duffs when it's on the airwaves if I'm listening over Taylor Swift. People know my thoughts on Taylor Swift that know me really well. Not a fan of Taylor Swift. What who else to get back on track caught my attention? Train, that will be good. Evanescence for all you rock rock rock heads. We got Sticks in Chicago, Leonard Skinner and Foreigner, Rod Stewart. Rod Stewart's voice has not aged well, in my opinion. Five Finger Death Punch, TLC and Salt and Pepper, Jason Aldean, Motley Crew, Tim McGraw. Who else? Wu Tang Clan. Who was a part of the list to make it into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this year, if I'm correct? Yeah. Hank Williams Jr. Pitbull and Lil' John. Now that is the artist I might have to go see. Might have to go see some Hank Williams Jr. Did I just say Hank Williams Jr.? No. What's wrong with me? I meant Pipp Pitbull. I've seen Pitbull once and I would go see him again. Yeah, I'm a big Pitbull person. A lot of times when people ask me, I've like, so what are some artists in the pop industry you like to listen to? Some people know it's usually the Jonas brothers, Pitbull, just to name a few that know me too well, and Teddy Swims, and now Alex Warren, of course. It's ever growing. I'm I'm spreading my wings and listening to more things, and then of course, Brooks and Dunn. So River Bend has a good variety list of people they will be having on this season. I'm just sad. Oh, and I forgot to mention Santana and the Doobie Brothers. How did I overlook this? I don't know, but I did. I bet Santana and the Doobie Brothers would be really good live. Because Oldie's music is very much in, and we're seeing it all over the place of them. Going on tours and people going to see it to people buying it on vinyl, downloading it, listening to it on their streaming services, to local radio. It's all over. And there were several artists that stood out to me. I'm gonna be straight up honest. They try to get a variety, and that's what I was noticing was it is a variety, and I like that when people do varieties of artists, so it fits everyone's wishes and brings in different groups of people, and it's not just the same people. I love that venues are doing that because I think venues need to be doing that a lot more, and some just stick to, oh, I'm just gonna do certain ones, and I'm like, y'all need to explore and do more in my eyes. Was there a theme I thought when I was first taking a glance at the list? My thoughts were it's a lot of old school. From we got a lot of really old school people coming into like 80s, 90s. So I'm definitely feeling they picked a lot of old school artists for this year, and only a little bit of some new from what I'm seeing. Like we got 90s rock to pa like we have oldies rock and paw to some old country, so it's it just giving very much oldies vibes, is what I'm getting from the list. And is that what they're wanting to book and bring vibe-wise to this year? I would like to know. I don't know. Who if I was given a chance to go to River Bend this year? Who would I want to see? Well, one of them was Megan Trainer, and she kind of was like, uh yeah, no. Who else would I want to see? I think Santana and the Doobie brothers would be really good. Who else? Honestly, I'd say Pitbull and Little John. Those would probably be the ones I'd want to go see. A lot of them did not catch my interest. And tickets ain't cheap, so you gotta be picky about what you're getting because you just stuff is expensive, and you're lucky if someone hands you tickets where you work and go, Hey, do you want to go see this? And you're like, Yeah, sure. I'll go see that. I bet sticks in Chicago would be good. I don't listen to them, but I've heard they're really good. So if anybody listens to them live nowadays, how are they? I want to know. I just curious. And is there some dream artists I would like to see come to Riverbend by chance, even though I've never been to Riverbend? Well, yeah, it was very well known for a very long time before this person passed, but I wish I could have seen them at Riverbend. I've heard really great things, which was Jimmy Buffett, because apparently he did really good at Riverbend. Sad I did not get to experience that. Actually, that's what I originally wanted to do for my 21st birthday was go see Jimmy Buffett, because I grew up as a parrot head, but instead I saw my favorite boys, the Joe Bros, instead. But you give and take of what you go see. Yeah, Jimmy Buffett was one of those I wish I gotten to see. There's just a lot of good artists I would like to go see up at River Bend. Just giving some recommendations. I think Alex Warren would be really good. Teddy Swims would be good. Some of the artists I listened to. I wouldn't mind going to see Katy Perry again. That would be really fun. Who else? Benson Boone getting a full Benson Boone concert and not just that one hour at Bourbon and Beyond that I got last year, which was a full experience. Highly recommend that. Live! Glad I got educated in the world of Ben Simboon. Honestly, I wouldn't mind seeing a musical take on River Ben. That would be really cool to see. Just doing that live. Like, there's a couple good musicals they could just sing live, and it would be amazing. Alicia Keys would be good. If Alicia Keys ever went back on tour, that would be really good. Or even I'm gonna say it, Beyonce. Beyonce would be amazing to me, because I do like some of her music. I haven't listened to enough of her to really know. But she would I heard she puts on a good show. And if Megan Trainer comes back, I think Megan Trainer would be really good. I I was sad she canceled, but maybe she'll come back for another season. We'll finally get to listen to her live. So yeah. I hope you have enjoyed this episode. It was a s it was a shorter one, more shorter than I planned. But I was gonna do this with someone else. It didn't work out. And if so somebody some of the people I work with listen to this episode and want to do another episode in the near future talking music, please reach out. If you have my number, please reach out. I have teased, and that you guys will thoroughly enjoy. Is I am bringing some people on that have appeared on my other podcast, and we're gonna do a big celebratory episode. Once we hit 250 downloads, we're gonna make a big celebration of it and do something fun. We already have the topics planned, it's in the works, and y'all will love it. I'm pretty sure if they hear this episode and we're not asked to talk about it, I'm sorry, y'all. It's already been recorded. So I will see you guys next time. Bye.
