In today's episode we talk about Princess Diaries turning 25 years old. Then we talk about how younger generations think Nirvana is Preppy due to a video I saw on social media.
Hello, and welcome back to another episode of the Let's Talk podcast. My name is Hannah Cubington, and I am so glad to be back with you yet again with another amazing episode. I am recording this and posting it the same day because I don't feel like editing. And you want my honest thoughts, and I'm being honest with you. It's been a crazy hectic week. A lot of things have been happening. That's all I'm gonna talk about with my life lately. And we talk about life as real as it gets on a pop culture podcast. Yeah, you're hearing me right. I'm being real and raw with you. There's a lot of exciting things coming up in my life. I'm so excited that is happening. Can't tell you about those, but if you live locally, you gotta tune in to where I work at the radio station to find out what I will what I am talking about or follow them on socials. So high school sports is starting yet again by the end of this month, actually, on my birthday. That's really also another crazy thing that is happening as well. I'm so excited about that. I know school will be starting for a bunch of people or has started. Hope you are surviving your first days or weeks of school by this point. As I will be posting this raw and real. So, yes. Hope you are enjoying that. And what have I tried food-wise lately before I dive into today's topic and other small other topics I'm gonna be talking about that I have seen on social media over this past week? Yeah, I'm gonna that's what I'll be talking about. But foods I have tried lately, well, not a lot of foods I have been trying, but hey, life's lifey. But I just recently went to Penn Station and I noticed they had some flavored lemonades, and I was like, this could be interesting because number one, if you go to Penn Station enough, you already know Penn Station has really good homemade lemonade, and if you've never had their homemade lemonade, you are missing out fully. I mean, fully, fully. And the choices were blue raspberry or strawberry. And I was like, okay, these flavors both sound good, but I'm more of a blue raspberry girl. Yes, I always love raspberries. It's it's weird, but yeah, that's all I'm gonna say. So I picked blue raspberry. Did it taste like a good blue raspberry? Oh yes, I loved it. Hands freaking down. It was so good. What else have I had? I also went to White Castle and tried their chicken parmesan sliders they had. Wasn't a fan. They weren't as hyped out as they could be. They said they were promoting their mozzarella sticks with the sliders. Who would put mozzarella sticks on a slider? Question mark. I know I wouldn't because I if I'm gonna eat chicken, I want fries with it, especially if it's in sandwich form. I don't want to order mozzarella sticks with it. Unless you're wanting us to put the mozzarella sticks on the sandwich or slider. I think they should just put the mozzarella sticks on the slider, is my personal thought. But who am I here to judge? It was Ycastle's idea to do what they did. I'm sorry, it wasn't worth the hype of trying. Y'all should have thought better, especially with advertising. Because the mozzarella sticks aren't pictured with the sandwich when you're looking at it on the store. So, yes, it's not worth the hype. Don't get it. Unless you're gonna be as curious as me and wanting to try it. I feel like there's something else I've tried, but I might have already talked about it in another podcast, but I'm gonna bring it up again because it might be a while before you hear that episode. And it was, I drove over to Seven Brew about 29 minutes away from my house. You might be asking Hannah, why did you drive 29 minutes to Seven Brew? Honestly, that was not the reason why I drove to Seven Brew. And why I drove over that way was I had originally supposed to have a supposed job interview. Yeah, don't trust AI to schedule your job interviews is the only thing that AI has gotten wrong so far. Trust me, AI can be a good tool, as you've heard me talk in previous episodes. But when scheduling interviews for jobs, AI can't do that, and the name for this AI bot was not creative at all as well. Not gonna give the details on that away. But yeah, drove over to Versales for that. Yes, that's where I went, and I had time to kill because I left my house a little too early, and I was like, I'm gonna go through the Dutch or not Dutch Ross, I'm gonna go through the seven brew line, try one of these Pinterest hacks, is what they call it. Pinterest, and I got the Baja Blast Flavor Club soda, they do. And oh my gosh, it tastes just like a Baja Blast. And it was so good. If you're wanting a Baja Blast and you're staying standing in line at Seven Brew, just try to look up for the recipe, they can make it for you, and it looks just like a Baja Blast, and it's so refreshing. Will I order it again? Possibly, and I would also wonder is if they have sugar-free syrups for it, or even ask for half the squirts if you're wanting to cut back on sugar. So little hack if you're wanting to test try that Baja Blast flavor. The Baja Blast flavor was really, really good. Highly, highly recommend. They can make it into a energy or the club soda. So pick and choose your poison is what I'm gonna recommend to you. But it yeah, it was so good. Can I find the recipe? Is probably I know I have it saved on my Pinterest board because I made a Pinterest board for seven brew, by the way, which is cool. I as I just saved another seven brew recipe, whoops. Whoops. Looking for looking for stuff I'm always looking looking looking. Don't mind me on Pinterest and just yakking with y'all. You know what happens. I love I love to look at stuff and just go, okay, let's go to actually what I'm looking at. And I was looking for my Baja Blast flavor. Okay. Here's what you'll need to make this Baja Blast flavor: blue raspberry, kiwi, lemon, and lime. Yep, those are all you need to make that Baja Blast remix flavor, and it is well worth the hype. There's other flavors I've seen that I want to try. They have a strawberry sunrise Alani dupe that I would like to try. There's just so many I just want to try and test, and there's not a seven brew close to me, and I think my budget is actually thanking me. There is not a seven brew in my hometown, but there's a whole area being built out, and not everything has been announced yet. A girl can only hope she gets a seven brew or Dutch Bros. And I wouldn't be mad at either of those options if we got it. Especially I would drive across town for it, like I do for Qdoba. You know how far you'll drive for certain things. Yeah, I'll drive across town for certain things if I'm in desperate times and desperate measures for certain things. I know when Chick-fil-A opened, and this was years ago, I would drive across town just for Chick-fil-A. I'm not kidding. When I was home from college, I would go get Chick-fil-A, and it was well worth it too. I didn't regret that decision at all either. So you so you're learning from an experienced pro. You can drive across anywhere for whatever you want. But some of the things I want to talk about today, you're probably noticing from the title of what I want to really talk about. But the first topic I want to get down to that is non-food related was I'm always I feel like some days I live on social media and some days I don't live on social media. If you feel me, you feel me. It's easy to doom scroll, watch videos, watch stories, read captions, you name it. It's easy to spend over an hour on the social medias. I tried to set a time limit, time limit on my social media, it didn't work. I'm gonna be honest. I have went overboard, and it might have been because I took two weeks off when I went on vacation. But I have been doom scrolling a lot lately on social media, most of the time, it's funny sarcastic stuff to doggy stuff to music-related stuff, you name it. I get everything under the sun, sadly. And that's me being honest with you. So when this popped up, I might have just barely gotten out of my social media break after coming back from vacation, and this pops up on my feet, and I'm like, this could be interesting. I start watching it, and it was very mind-boggling of we have all the technology in the world, and we don't use it. Yes, you are hearing me correctly. If you have seen the video where the girl talks about how she thinks nirvana is preppy, when in reality nirvana is grunge, yeah, she got it all wrong, and how she described Nirvana was also very puzzling as well. She goes, It's too loud, and I'm like, Yeah, because it's grunge. I know the basics of Nirvana, and I even know that for a fact. Is what she said. She goes, You yeah, she was like, This person was not raised right and not educated well enough for her to say that Nirvana is preppy because of the smiley face logo that it is because she even said, Yeah, uh I I'm still gonna wear the smiley face symbol, even though I don't agree with the music. I'm like, you don't have to agree with the music, but you need to be educated. Come on, and I bet a bunch of y'all music people and music nerds probably feel the same way, and there's still a lot of people that had not seen this, and I was like, How have you missed the fact of this has been blowing up on social media about the fact of this girl thought a big grunge band I thought was early 2000s when really they were 90s was very popular. Apparently, it's circulate circulating again in graphic tees and hoodies and stuff, or the smiley face trend on clothing is, and this girl didn't have the audacity to look up what Nirvana really was, is super mind-boggling, and it's a wake-up to society, not being well educated on things, and this is including for music. That is why I took a history of rock and roll class when I did in college, is so I could be well more versed in the world of rock and roll, even though I don't listen to rock and roll, because rock and roll has played a big part in the music industry, and what do I like working in? The radio music industry. So, this was one of those moments of like, I'm glad I'm educated in it, but this also brings up the fact of the younger generations don't know what to search on the internet, and are they too codependent on AI? Is the greatest question to be asking ourselves because AI may paint the Nirvana symbol as just this regular old smiley face when really it's a name of a grunge band from the 1990s. So if you see a certain name on something and you're curious, please look it up before thinking it's one thing before saying what it really is. It's a lesson I have learned about after watching that video, and I've sent it to people, and they are totally mind-boggling shocked at this. And it's like popping up on Insta and TikTok for sure. I don't know about Facebook, but I know for sure on Instagram. What else have I seen that has interested me that I wanted to talk about for this episode? Oh yeah, Princess Diaries is 25 years old. I did not realize the first film was officially 25 years old. Earlier this week, I saw that. I think it was Monday, I saw it. Yeah, I was just sitting and scrolling on my good old phone on Instagram, and here pops up Princess Diaries is 25 years old, and I was like, holy cow, how are they gonna celebrate the 25th anniversary? By telling us to relive in the glory days of Princess Diaries, yes, by showing us old clips to reminisce about when it first came out. Oh yes. Will I ever watch Princess Diaries again? Oh yes, I consider Princess Diaries a Disney classic. You got some big name actors in that film series, mainly Anne Hathaway and Julie Andrews. So, yes, it's a very big deal of a film, and there's nothing wrong with that film. But we had heard before the anniversary of this film turning 25 year years old, or it was between April and June range, they had announced that they were in talks of making a Princess Diaries 3. If I was hearing myself correctly, and what I heard on a TV morning show. Yeah, Princess Diaries 3 will probably be coming out within the next two years, hopefully, because Anne Hathaway had been talking about it. We don't know who's gonna be in the cast of this film, it'll be very interesting to see. Will Anne Hathaway's character be married? Will she be divorced? A single mother? I don't know what we will be seeing. Will she be raising her own princess in the making in the third film? We will have to wait and see. Or is she gonna be one of those princesses that don't have kids? We do not know what the future. Holds for this film, and I am very excited to see what it will bring. There's been a lot of predictions of what this film could be about. People have been making fake trailers for it for at least a year because there had been rumors for about a year before they announced they were in works of this film. It's just one of those great films to watch. And if you're looking for something nostalgic to watch this summer before the school year starts, you can never go wrong with Princess Diaries. Yes, you are hearing me correctly. You can watch yourself some good old Princess Diaries. There's two films you can watch. I wish I had Disney Plus and I could watch it right now because I would 100% be watching it. But hopefully soon. Hopefully. What is I'm trying like I've also heard it's a book series. I feel like I looked that up a long, long time ago. That it was a book series. So there was probably sometime gonna be a third one. Maybe the third one did not get made when they were in the hype of their days, making the first and second, and Disney wasn't ready to make a third. I don't know what happened, but let me tell you, all the nostalgic films from the early 2000s are getting new things lately. It's just mind-boggling. You have Camp Rock 3 coming out on the 13th of August, and they had barely teased that until the beginning of summer, which is very, very wild, because I grew up listening and watching Camp Rock, so I'm very excited to see where this new Camp Rock goes. I I think they could have made it more for the adult audience, and instead they're just bringing in a new batch of teenagers, and I'm like, I think that's what kind of destroyed the high school musical reboot of why it didn't do so well because they only aimed for a younger audience when they should have aimed for the audience they originally made it for, and Disney does not know how to listen to that. They did not learn their lesson from when they made the new reboot of high school musical, they needed to make it for the audience, the original audience that watched it and went with the flow of that, and they chose not to do that, which is a poor mistake on Disney. It could have done better if they had done it the way I was just describing. Who else out of the Disney era has had a reboot reboot? Oh, I don't know. Jonas Brothers have become popular again since pre-COVID. Oh let's see. Hillary Jo Hillary Duff just made a really big comeback. And you've probably been probably been seeing that a lot over your social media platforms with all the music she has released. My thoughts on the music? I have some mixed thoughts on it. I really do. And should Hillary Duff have made a comeback. I think she had a right to. Compared to some singers that have comebacks and they don't sound good. You know who I'm talking about. I don't think Taylor Swift is that talented in pop music. That's just my opinion. And I don't think I'm the only one that thinks this. But Hillary Duff has been the hot hit of summer 2026. I feel like that's what I've been seeing, other than the princess diary stuff. So it's just mind-boggling what you see on these social media platforms, and I'm very excited to see what's gonna come more because Hilary Duff has had sold-out shows everywhere over the whole entire US, which is really cool. Does her music fit the audience? Yes, yes, it does. I vaguely remember the Hillary Duff era of music because I was still too young to vaguely remember that. But I did listen to some of her stuff though. I did. But with Princess Diaries, it makes me worried sometimes that I think some of us who grew up watching Princess Diaries, we're gonna have our hearts broken. I don't know if others feel the same way as me about this, but some of our hearts might get broken. I'm almost like, do I lower my expectation or just keep it neutral? That is some of the thoughts that have been running through my head as I've been seeing posts. I posted about it myself. I've also enjoyed the clips I've been seeing on social media. Anne Hathaway's a no and no Anne Hathaway, the only stuff she's posted about is the fact of she posted how she talked about it on a certain radio show for Sirius Radio. And then it's mainly been Disney that has been the one reposting and reminiscing about certain scenes that were big highlights of people's childhood of when they watched this film. One of the scenes that wasn't shown that I didn't see was, and this is from the second film. I thought they were gonna reminisce about both films, was my thought, and only it was the first one, and I was like, Oh, yeah, I should have remembered that. It was only for the first film. I'm so down. They didn't show the scene where she got prettified. I think I saw more of your princess was the most I saw. There's there's just a lot of good stuff that happened in that film, and it makes your childhood, I will say that. I hope you have enjoyed today's episode. I hope I haven't rambled too much about reminiscing over Princess Diaries turning 25 years old to this thing I saw about Nirvana being preppy. I hope you have enjoyed today's episode. It's going out as it is, and I hope you have enjoyed the episode. Please tell me what else should I be talking about because there's other stuff I see on social media. If you want me to talk about what I see on my social media page, I can give a little segment on that every now and then. I do get a lot of book content, so that might bore you, to be honest with you, because I am a book nerd. Surprise, surprise. People get completely surprised when I s when I say I'm a book nerd. They're like, you don't get book nerd vibes. I'm like, and then I tell them how many books I'm reading and they're like, oh, never mind. So yes. And are we seeing the same things on social media? I don't know. So please, I I want to know your thoughts. I get distracted. I'm like a chicken with its head cut off in some epis episodes, it feels like. So I will see you next time. Bye.
