Thank you from the Visit Deer Park Division of the City of Deer Park
Hey everybody and welcome to the Hangout Podcast. I'm Caitlin Blue Jacket.
SPEAKER_02And I'm Destiny Rubio. I am the marketing and public relations clerk here with the City of Deer Park's New Visitor Center and Museum.
SPEAKER_01And today we kind of wanted to do a little mini sode. We have never done a mini sode before, but we wanted to share with you guys that we have moved locations. We are no longer at 203 Ivy. We are now at 500 West 13th Street in Deer Park, Texas, 77536. And we are super excited to be in our new facility.
SPEAKER_02Our new building.
SPEAKER_01Yes.
SPEAKER_02Yes. We're not stuck in a corner.
SPEAKER_01Yes. Not in the dungeon. But we kicked Elliot out of the podcast today. I mean he is in his office working. So do not think that he is off of work today.
SPEAKER_02He's busy. He has some tasks.
SPEAKER_01But we wanted to have Destiny come on here because she is the face of the visitor center and she is in her little fishbowl up there. Come see me.
SPEAKER_02Come see me. Ask questions about Deer Park. Ask questions about the Visitor Center Museum. Ask questions about the Jimmy Burke Center. If you want to need to know somewhere to eat or, you know, drink, get coffee somewhere, I can help you guide, you know, where to go if you're visiting Deer Park or if you lived here and you just, you know, maybe want to try something new that you didn't know that was here in Deer Park. You know, there's new businesses being go here or welcomed here and you know, just come by and don't be shy to ask.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. So we did want to kind of showcase one of our newest marketing ventures that we're trying out this time around since we're being in the new facility. We have these soccer ball koozies that are to help promote the soccer series that's taking place. You may have heard of it, it's very popular. But we pass these out, or Destiny passed these out to local businesses and hotels and different local businesses, restaurants.
SPEAKER_02So you like Ghidries, Time Out number three, and Hacienda hotels such as Candlewood, Hampton Inn, but they are limited, so you know, kind of first serve first come, first serve type of thing, especially here at the visitor as well. If you don't want to go to any of those restaurants or if you're not staying in one of those hotels, come visit us and maybe you can get some extra swag as well. Because we have some new merch that we would love to, you know, give out to y'all and you know, exciting.
SPEAKER_01So another thing that we wanted to kind of talk about is the museum. And I know Miss Sherry Garrison and Christina Gossett with the historical committee, the councilwoman Sherry Garrison. She is working very, very hard with the University of Clear Lake to curate the museum and to get all of our artifacts and things like that kind of itemized and labeled and ready for display. We're looking forward to a grand opening, hopefully this fall, fall 2026. Looking forward to that. Hopefully, everything goes smoothly and we get everything in there. And we're just very thankful that they kind of spearheaded all of that and we're we're looking forward to filling the walls.
SPEAKER_02I know I think a lot of people are excited. We have summer camp going on, and we have we've had some children come by and they're excited for the museum to come show up and you know be able to present it to them.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Yeah. And so at the end of this video, if you've made it this far, we are going to do a drone fly through of the facility just to kind of show you guys what we're talking about. Because if you went to the old facility, you know it kind of resembled a barn, and that's because it was a barn at one point or a shed, whatever they like to call it.
SPEAKER_02History.
SPEAKER_01And so now that facility is torn down. Yes. And we have space for up to 1,500 people in the new facility. It's huge, and it's divisible into three different parts. We have three different breakout rooms, a catering kitchen, all different kinds of stuff. And I think we're going to talk about that on another episode. But make sure that you you watch the remainder of this episode. We're not going to be talking during it, only so that way y'all can view it and that way y'all can ask questions in the comments or send us an email. Our email is visit at dearparktx.org. And that goes to both me and destiny. So either one of us will be happy to respond to any questions. Or if you want to book it for a birthday party or anything like that, you can call us, or you can call our parks and rec department, and they'll be happy to set you up with everything.
SPEAKER_02It's just it's super exciting. Once y'all see the footage, y'all see how clean and newly furnished everything is. The maintenance department takes care of it really, really well. You know, this is you know, this is our baby, you know, they they they don't play about, you know, any not even a smudge on the wall. Yeah, not even a smudge on the wall, there cannot be no smudge on the wall.
SPEAKER_01No smudges. Um also right next door we have the Ella and Friends Dog Park.
SPEAKER_02So if you have doggies any size, and if you have this, yeah, they have separated for smog dogs or big dogs, or if your small dog likes to be with the big dogs, you know. I think that's that's what happened to my friend. She was like, My small dog always wants to be in the big dog section.
SPEAKER_01But you know, you just he's got a big dog personality, doesn't he?
SPEAKER_02Big dog personality, a little Yorkie. Yeah, oh yeah, a chihuahua.
SPEAKER_01Um thank you guys so much again. We have over 900, 900 listeners now, and we're super excited about it. On the next episode, the next full episode, we have Mayor Jerry Muton and his wife uh Tammy Muton, and they came on the show. We pre-recorded it last week, and they played a little similar to like the newlywed game, if you're familiar with that. We named it He Said, She Said. But that episode will be released on July 1st at 10 a.m. We strongly encourage you to listen to it. I think it's super cute. They're super cute, their love for one another is just great. Yeah, it's great. So make sure you tune into that. And if you have any questions, you can also text us. We have a text link on Buzz Sprout, and I'll kind of drop it in the YouTube video below and in the comments below or description below. So reach out to us. We look forward to hearing back from you. If you have questions, comments, questions, concerns, asking you just want to like tell us how much you love us, yeah, we welcome it. Or I mean, I guess if you really don't like us, then you can tell us that too. But we don't encourage that. So you all have a great day and stay tuned for the fighting crew.
