We’re coming out of a pandemic that still leaves its’ imprint on what our lives and worlds look like, the middle east is erupting, we’ve had events that have caused us to question our trust for leaders around the world and inside all of it is what’s going on inside us - the pendulum of our masculine and feminine energies, which all of us have, throughout history have swung in polarized ways due to the actions and ways of beings of all the people that inhabit our beautiful planet.
In this episode, my guest Cori Capp, who is a light worker and spiritual guide, talks with me about masculine and feminine energies that are inside all of us and how finding the balance of them in the world and in ourselves will help us grow as people and as a society.

Welcome to another episode, listeners. As we've talked about on previous episodes, there is a lot going on in the world right now. We are coming out of a pandemic that still leaves its imprint on what our lives and our worlds look like. As we speak, the Middle East is still erupting, and we've had events that have caused us to question our trust for leaders in the world, and male leaders in particular. And inside of all of what's going on, it's also going on inside of us, and it's impacting and affecting us. And the pendulum of our masculine and feminine energies, which all of us have, throughout history, has swung in polarized ways due to the actions and ways of beings of all the people that inhabit our beautiful planet. Rightly or wrongly, there's an impact to us. So today, I'm really excited to be wondering out loud about some deep and beautiful things that are happening to us and with us in the world. And those two things, of course, always being acutely connected. And yet we don't always take the time to be curious about how what's going on in the world may or may not impact what's going on inside of us. And to be doing it with my very, very dear friend Corey Capp makes me even more happy and grateful. Corey, uh, who is also known as Coach Corey, is a passionate, somatic, trauma-informed life coach. She is dedicated to helping individuals reconnect with their bodies, with their emotions, and with their inner wisdom and spirit. And I can personally attest to this because she has taken her incredible gifts and she's had such an incredible impact on my life and the lives of my daughters. And the ripple effect uh that Corey has had just in my family, just in my friends, hundreds of people. So I can only imagine the impact that Corey has had with her clients, the people that she works with. Uh Corey sees herself as a light worker, and she sees herself as helping spark that light in others in the process of their awakening. I know she's helped me wake up. When I first met Corey, uh, she saw right into me, and I didn't like that. She saw something inside of me, and I got very guarded, and my back went up. And so for us to be sitting here today, as close as we are, as vulnerable as we are with each other, uh, Corey, I owe that to you. And welcome to the show. Uh, I would love to hear a little bit more about your work. I know our listeners would. And also what drew you to this crazy but necessary conversation that we're having today about male and female energies.
SPEAKER_01Well, thank you, Mike. Um, I'm really touched and honored by your words. Um it's uh we we've we've come a long way, let's put it that way. And um, it's been amazing to watch your growth and and watch your openness. Um, you know, yeah, when we first met, there was something very protected. And I could tap into that and I could feel that because energy sort of always been my first language. Um, and when I first started coaching, it wasn't really about energy, it was more about, you know, learning the practicalities of coaching, but it soon started to become deeper and it went to a deeper place. And that place was, you know, the soul. And 20 years ago when I first started, you know, it was very woo-woo to talk about the soul, you know, it was either in religion or or you know, in in there was a lot of dogma around it, but that's where we were, and the soul always wanted to speak, and your soul wanted to speak from an early start. So I saw that and recognized it, and I was really happy that you reached out to me to help pull you out. So thank you.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, of course.
SPEAKER_01Um, yeah, so uh, you know, my journey to becoming a coach has been very interesting. Um, you know, I started coaching 20 years ago after a divorce, and um I just I love the language. I loved, I felt that coaching was the gift that always kept giving. Um, it was always about what do you want and then what gets in the way of what you want. And so I just feel very blessed to be on the journey with people to really help them get clarity on what they want. Um, but in that process, um, it was always important for me to bring the wholeness of who we are into the conversation. And what I mean by that is we are mind, body, and soul. We are more than this body. But yet we've been doing our lives on autopilot, just going through life without any remembrance of this fact. And something strange is happening now in our world, right? People, people feel it, right? Even if if they can't fully explain it, like you can hear it in our conversations, in relationships, in the way people are starting to question systems that once felt permanent. You know, politics, religions, work, culture, medical institutions, you know, our education systems, things that once seemed immovable suddenly feel fragile and confusing, and people are afraid.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. And you know, Corey, I know from uh, you know, my own network and people that I talk with, my friends, young men that I mentor. Um it's happening more and more. People are questioning their place in the world. And I actually read an article this morning, in fact, it's the General Social Survey. And it is the lowest, and it measures happiness, measures the happiness of people and generally where they are. It is the lowest that it's been in 50 years by a landslide. And I don't know if that's because of people coming out of the pandemic, the energies, the things that are going on in the world, and the impact to them. I think people are questioning their place. I think people are questioning what their purpose is. So, Cory, you know, with all the work you've done, uh, why do you believe that now at this point in our history, people are having a harder time feeling contentment, feeling fulfillment, and feeling into what they're searching for?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, well, you know, first of all, I think it it goes to the point of that we were all sort of spoon-fed a story as children about what life should look like. You know, you work hard, you stay productive, you achieve you achieve, you you you keep moving. And basically you work your human body to the bone until it can't do it anymore. And people are spiritually fatigued, they're mentally and spiritually fatigued. And what I notice right now is that that I look at as an opening. Humanity has now entered a new era of consciousness, whereas before everyone was just doing their thing, people are now waking up and they're challenging the existing beliefs and norms. And as long and they're starting to ask themselves something that probably they never asked before. And that is basically why does life feel so frenetic, addictive, and unfulfilling?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and uh, you know, I think that this topic is extremely germane to uh our listeners who are predominantly men. And Corey, I know for me, uh one of the things that I've danced with, that you've helped me dance with, is this treadmill of doing, doing, doing. And, you know, in our work together, you've reminded me that the foundation of all this doing, all of these actions that we take, is actually who I'm being while I'm doing all of that. And look, we know that uh men in particular have been handed down through generations that they need to be providers, that we're measured by our worth. And all of that really has translated to doing, doing, doing, doing, doing, do more, have more. What I have is not enough. So, Corey, can you talk to us a little deeper, you know, about your perspective on why this is so relevant for us?
SPEAKER_01Well, I mean, I think you've really touched on a lot of it. It's it's just that, you know, for many, it's no longer enough because it's not satisfying our deeper longings. Our soul is starting to come online, you know, in trying to be significant and certain, you know, through our work and through, you know, all of our consumption, we've lost, we've lost our beingness. And so it this really is about energy, okay? So again, our world was dominated for centuries by this energy of doing, you know, the hustle culture that we all know, do more, be more, right? That's the mantra. Um, and this kind of energy embodies structure, logic, control, progress, and productivity, right? These qualities built a modern civilization. And so they were really necessary. Um, and but now we're very, we're very built, we're overbuilt. And when one energy dominates everything, something gets lost in translation. And that missing piece is the energy of being, that beingness that I said, you know, as you're doing, who are you being? What is the intention? Um, so yes, we have moved past the hunter-gatherer days, women have now entered the workforce, they are also providers. Um, and the, you know, drink coffee, do emails, do work, go, go, go. It's just not working. That treadmill doesn't work. And the constant doing, you know, there's a problem in it because it is highly addictive. It is highly satisfying. It keeps us very distracted from asking the really deeper question. And that question is, you know, what is what is the meaning of life? What is the purpose of life? Am I being loving in life? And it keeps us from slowing down enough to ask these questions. Um, and basically the biggest one is who am I underneath all this activity? Right?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it's very seductive.
SPEAKER_01It's very seductive. And and the the truth is that when we're going and be and always busy, consciousness doesn't grow in constant motion. It requires stillness and quietude, and it requires slowing down and simply being. The soul actually comes online very quietly, and this is not something our culture teaches or embraces.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it's interesting, Corey, because in in a in another episode, uh, I actually talked about the impact of social media, you know, not only, of course, in my own life, but I, you know, I noticed the impact that it had in my daughters' lives. And I can't help but walk around and see the impact of you know, people being in nature and staring at their phones. And, you know, how it subconsciously feeds this part of us in the world of social media that we need to perform better. We're looking at snippets of people's lives, and you know, there our perception of their happiness. And certainly what I know what it translates in me is I've got to do more. I've got to get out there and do more. I've got to, I've got to be happy like they are, I've got to have a life like they do, I've got to be accomplishing all the things that they are. And so it's this keeping up with the Joneses that it it it ends up manifesting in me. And I certainly see that with people around me, certainly in my daughters. So, Corey, you know, where and how do you think people listening to this should focus? How do you guide your people to do their work on this?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that's a great point. Um, Instagram is the devil. It really is. It's it's it's it's really hijacked people's souls. And um, and and it's given this feeding frenzy of that doing more, and you know, I have to post everything I do. I have to put on my makeup, I have to post that. I have to, what I'm eating, I'm posting that. People are craving to be seen, right? But to become conscious, we have to do something radical in today's world, okay? And we have to stop filling every moment with noise and distraction and looking sideways at other people. We need to get really quiet and listen to our intuition. We need to listen to our values. You know, what are my values asking me? That quiet little voice inside that most of us have been ignoring most of our lives. And perhaps maybe some of us have never had a moment with this beautiful, satiating presence that exists in all of us. So when we finally slow down to be present and hear ourselves, we encounter our depths or what many traditions call the soul. And every human being has one. Um, it's a divine spark, it's a genius, it's a consciousness, call it spirit, okay? Whatever name you give it, it's the life force that emanates and animates all of us. And this force operates on many levels, okay? Not just the physical, but the emotional, mental, and spiritual. In other words, we're not just bodies or meat suits moving through a mechanical world. We are multidimensional beings operating on many levels, and we are powerful beyond our imagination, but we haven't been taught this, okay? And that deeper intelligence within us is constantly communicating to us, guiding us and healing us. It's always trying to get our attention. But this busyness in our life doesn't allow us to hear this guidance. And this is the challenge, because to hear that guidance, you have to step out of the noise of modern life, you need to embrace stillness, meditation, and reflection, and you have to let go of your screens. Gotta get off those screens. So, you know, these practices are not about escaping reality. They're about being present with the unfolding intelligence that's already inside of us. Okay. And for many people, that process feels like an undoing. It's it's uncomfortable. An undoing of the life we were taught to build, it means exiting the matrix and learning how to begin to listen to our deeper selves. And really, as I've said too many times, you know, it's about sitting with it all, right? Our priorities, our relationships, our beliefs about success, and just questioning all of it. Um it this is by no means an easy process. It is not recommended for the faint of heart. Um, most people will just lose it. You know, it's just, it's, it's, we are so addicted. But it in this discomfort, this is where the growth begins and this is where transformation can happen.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and certainly, you know, I know that our listeners are uh aspiring to grow. I think you and I know better than anyone that growth comes at a cost. It is incredibly uncomfortable to grow. And you know, let things like letting go of screens and pulling ourselves out of the matrix, getting quiet and still long enough. I know for me, Corey, and you know this because we're so close, but I'll share with our listeners that um it's really humbling to go through this and to reflect on my own journey because for 31 years of my life, I was completely on autopilot. And uh, you know, I had no knowledge of this inner, more authentic part of myself that we're talking about my my spirit, my light. And it wasn't until my first divorce that I really started to question my own authenticity. I woke up one morning and I just didn't really like who I was, and I wasn't feeling good, and I wasn't feeling authentic. I felt like there was some other better version of me in there somewhere, and it wasn't until I had the grief of the ending of my marriage that I was actually able to sit still long enough to recognize that part of me. So, you know, it was the you know, my first brush with that part of me, that engine of my own brain that drives me to do, do, do, do, do. And it's so beautiful when we're talking about, you know, how do we find that quiet? How do we find that part of us? And so, Corey, with all the work that you've dedicated yourself to and all the people that you guided, you know, how do you feel that we we actually got so disconnected from this part of us?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, uh how did we get disconnected? Great question. Um, you know, I think again, because we live in a reality that um encourages it, it encourages this doing, it encourages this productivity that, you know, to be on autopilot is natural. We don't even know that anything else exists. And and I can even say in myself, I too had gone through a first marriage where um, you know, on paper it checked all the boxes. It was it was a marriage of doing, let's put it that way. I walked away with three beautiful children, but I was doing my marriage. And I didn't even realize that I was doing all the right things as a wife, performing performatively, everything. But I wasn't being in it. If I'm really honest, I don't feel that I was being in my marriage. And I just thought, what's going on with this? And as you said, I did not feel authentic in my marriage. So, you know, I that's what what opened me up to start to look at, you know, how how did where did I lose myself? How did I get so disconnected? Who am I? And it's really about peeling about back the layers of who are you if you're not performing, right? And to understand that, you have to really look at the balance between the the energies that we all carry within us, okay? Every human being carries a masculine and a feminine energy. And these are not genders, okay? They are universal energies that exist in all humans. So let me explain the masculine. The divine masculine is the energy of action. It is structured, gold-oriented, logical, protective, and it builds systems and turns ideas into reality. So we all know what that feels like because most of us live in that. The divine feminine, which again is in everybody, is the energy of awareness. It's that intuitive, creative, empathetic, and emotionally intelligent piece inside of us. It connects us to our feelings, it connects us to relationships and the subconscious. So, in a healthy system, um, these two energies work together and they create harmony and balance. The masculine provides direction and structure, and the feminine provides wisdom and emotional depth. So now you have action guided by intuition and progress guided by compassion, right? Very different way than what we normally exist in. But for centuries, society has heavily favored the masculine energies, while qualities associated with the feminine were often dismissed as weakness. So most men see that, you know, if I'm in my feminine, I'm being weak, I'm not, I'm not taking over, I'm not, right? Because it's been encouraged, be the macha man, be the provider, do this. But right. And so, so men have stayed away from that. And over time, that imbalance has now shaped the world that we live in, right? But here's the cool thing: something interesting is happening right now. Many people, and especially women, because I hear this all the time from my clients, have begun doing their inner work, right? They're healing trauma, they're healing generational trauma, they're questioning cultural expectations, they're challenging their limiting beliefs, they're they're working with their values, and they're finding their voice and their intuition as their power. And as women reconnect with both their strengths. And emotional intelligence, their expectations now around relationships are changing.
SPEAKER_00It's so interesting that we're we're talking about this. You know, fortunately and unfortunately, I'm now back in the dating scene. And uh, you know, I say that uh, you know, very humbly. Uh, I've met a lot of amazing uh women, and uh, you know, I feel blessed that I can be back out there and excited to be you know in a relationship again. I have heard this theme, though, from women that I have dated, that they, you know, want to reclaim their feminine energy and they want a balance of uh feminine energy in themselves because they feel that they have had to bring more masculine energy than has made them comfortable. And so, one, you know, it's amazing to hear these women that are self-aware enough to know that, and also to be able to step back with somebody like me and have this conversation with you that at a macro level, wow, this is this is really going on. And and to hear the shift, you know, with with women that I've dated and what they're seeking and searching for, um it's pretty remarkable, you know, and it's amazing to see, and it's amazing that we're having this conversation and bringing more light to it. So, Corey, you know, this is a big shift. Can can you tell us a little bit more about this shift and and and why it's happening?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I mean, you know, women, women have been in the workforce. Women have have been in their masculine, okay? They're raising children, they're raising family, they're working jobs, they're doing it all. So if anything, they're like in their uber masculine and it's killing them, right? Something is missing. And so women are now no longer looking for dominance. They want to be seen and heard, okay? They are now looking for true partnerships. And what does that mean? What is that? What is a true partnership in today, today's age? You know, today it's more about partners who are emotionally present, partners who show up, partners who are willing to grow and who see equality as a strength rather than a threat. Partners are curious about who are these women in their lives, these unique beings, not just the wife who makes me dinner, but but who are that you as an evolving soul? And so, you know, for generations, women have carried a large portion of the emotional labor in relationships. And, you know, they've they've listened, they've supported, they've nurtured, they've held space for their children, their husbands, their aging parents. But that emotional labor wasn't always reciprocated. And many women are starting to ask, you know, why should relationships feel like one person carrying the weight? Why am I doing it all? I'm tired. So as a result, I'd say more women are choosing now independence over unequal partnerships. I have a lot of clients who are so content to be alone because they've done the work and they found that soul piece. And when you find that soul piece inside yourself, which is really love and action, then it's so much easier to find a partner. But then you really want a partner that resonates at that level. Okay. Many women are starting to ask, you know, why should I be doing it all? And as a result, more women are choosing independence over unequal partnerships, not because they don't value love, but because they value mutual growth, right? And we all want love, you know, we don't want that performative love which, you know, many of us see on Instagram with, you know, the smiles and the kisses and all that. We want healthy love that's based on safety, curiosity, and growth. And again, this all begins inside of us, Michael.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. You know, and you know, as we're talking, Corey, uh, you know, as a as a man, uh, you know, knowing that I have both feminine and masculine energy in me, and as a man who aspires to be in a long-term romantic relationship, you know, I'm listening to this and listening to you with a lot of curiosity, you know, and in my journey, I've been learning in the last few years, and certainly in my last marriage, you know, how do I hold space, you know, to ensure that my partner feels safe so that they can express themselves, so they can express their feminine energy, you know, which really means for me, I know that I've got to get more in tune with my feminine energy. And to your point, and for our listeners who, you know, a lot of them are men, that feminine energy, you know, is something to embrace. It's something that brings balance and growth to us in our lives. Um, and yet, you know, for generations, we've been taught that to, you know, to be feminine is to uh reject the things that we perceive as emotions that are weak. And really, you know, strength I have learned is really the opposite of that. So, Corey, this might be a naive question, but you know, do you feel that there's an obligation on behalf of men or women in the world to bring more balance to these two energies?
SPEAKER_01Uh, 100%. I actually believe that it is the lifetime work of each human to bring both these energies forward in themselves. That is the work. You know, we can do our human doing all day long and rack up all these incredible accomplishments, but to become an evolved soul that is in its wholeness um showing love and receiving love and really just being this beautiful reflector of light, I think that's where the balance is. So, you know, the rise of the feminine isn't about replacing one power structure over another. We don't, we've been there, done that. It's not about men or women, it's about balance. It's because both energies are necessary for all beings to achieve wholeness. So if we only had a world which which was filled with masculine energy, we know what that's like. It becomes rigid, aggressive, and disconnected. I think we're fully in that right now.
SPEAKER_00Um, I would agree.
SPEAKER_01And and it's terrifying. Um, but yet a world of only feminine energy also has the ability where it can lose direction and structure, right? Um, so when the two are integrated and we have both the masculine and the feminine, something really powerful happens, then you get courage guided by empathy, action guided by wisdom, leadership guided by compassion. And that balance isn't just something society needs, it's something that we all need internally, because the real work of consciousness starts in us, right? So it's really by learning to integrate the masculine and the feminine energies inside of us that we learn when to act. We learn when to listen, we learn when to push forward, we learn when to allow and surrender. So you're working with different energies, surrendering, deeply allowing. Um, you're not driving it always forward. And this is a really powerful place to be.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it is. And and Corey, I just have to say, so so beautifully said, so eloquent, uh, you know, this is a really, really big and deep topic. And not, you know, not everyone has awareness, you know. So here we sit, you know, it's May 2026, and you know, for uh we've had hundreds of thousands of years that have got us here. And we look at how men uh, you know, in indigenous cultures around the world uh have historically held feminine energy as being very sacred. You look at the indigenous cultures, you know, uh it's rooted in Mother Earth. Mother Earth herself is this great deity, you know, it's probably the greatest of the deities for most indigenous cultures, and with her being seen as feminine, you know. And then we have all these other ages throughout history that uh ended up honoring men and men in power and power that they'd attained. And then misogyny, you know, as a result of that in its truest form took shape, and it was it dampened, as you said earlier, diminished our feminine energy, you know, in the world. You and I have talked a lot about this. Therefore, this balance in the world that you know has the potential, you know, to bring us uh in more of our power, you know, and you know, historically, as I've said, there's this perception that you know to be masculine, as men, we should reject all that is perceived as being feminine. And I know, I mean, it's certainly a topic that my first book was about why don't our dads cry? And I know uh personally the loss of that for me, that emotional, you know, expression, uh, allowing emotions to be there, as you said, just to allow, to surrender to them. And I know the loss that that you know had for me in my life. And I think about that at a global level, at a macro level for you know, all men and all men in relationship to women and their romantic partners. So, Corey, you know, when you you think where we are now at with this point in our history and our evolutions as humans, as it relates to you know the fundamental energies that exist in all of us, you know, where do you think we are now in the in this pendulum, in this balance?
SPEAKER_01Well, I I really like that you brought up Mother Earth, because I think we've forgotten where we come from. I think we've forgotten who we are, and and Earth is a teacher, and she is a sacred teacher of reminding us that you know that we have to embrace it all. We have to, we have to start opening our eyes to all the different parts, all the different energies so that we can all coexist. Otherwise, we're not gonna make it. So I look at it that we are now in sort of a deconstructive period. All right. We are in a moment of transition where the old is falling away, things are deconstructing, things have to fall apart to be built again. You know, the old systems are cracking, the expectations are shifting. And a lot of people feel very uncertain about what is coming next, right? But I I look at that and I go, you know, whenever I see uncertainty, I get excited because I go, that's the beginning of transformation. You have to, you have to be in a place of, I don't know, I have no idea. Right? Amen. Because when old structures fall apart, we finally have space to create and build something better, right? There is a lot of fear in this liminal place, but also the possibility of the unknown, like what's possible, what's right about this? And maybe perhaps a less ego-driven world that values both logic and intuition, strength and compassion and action and presence. And I maybe that's what this moment is really all about, just noticing not the victory of one energy over another, but rediscovering our wholeness, our connection to Earth, our connection to our planet, our connection to everybody. And because when masculine and feminine energies, you know, come into balance, we don't just change relationships, we create harmony and wholeness in the world, right? And we change the way humanity evolves. So I would say, you know, with our creativity and our intuition, we open ourselves up to higher ways of being in our world, which recognize and honor the divine spirit in all of us, regardless of race, color, or religion, and we learn to start to embody love. That's our birthright.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, beautifully said, Corey. And this conversation has been uh, you know, incredible. Uh, we've talked about some big and universal things that are in the air, you know, for the world, for us as individuals. Uh, you know, uh I am prayerful that our listeners have learned and become aware of things that maybe they weren't before. Um, you know, and that uh, you know, masculine and and feminine energies are not mutually exclusive, you know, uh, but in fact, it it is what deeply connects us to, you know, who who we are as human beings and deeply connects us, you know, to our souls. And, you know, we've we've also talked about why the world is the way that it is and and you know, some of the things that get in the way of you know our listeners and human beings generally day to day. And so, Corey, is there any advice that you'd leave our listeners with in terms of what they can do in their daily lives to embody more of these fun two fundamental energies that we've talked about today to find more balance and growth uh in their own lives?
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Um I would say remain courageous enough to move with love. Let love guide you, let love be the guiding point. Anytime that there's not love, there's fear. Um, so start to drop all the masks you've learned to wear. Start becoming familiar with what it's like to be truthful. Okay. There's no good or bad, right? It's just an emotion, and emotion is just energy and motion moving through. So even in your anger, if it's a pure anger, it's a true anger. Um, and to truly find balance, you know, this is my favorite line of all times. And I say to everyone, let silence do the heavy lifting. Right? Get super, super quiet. And, you know, press press pause on your brain. The brain doesn't need to figure everything out, it doesn't need to, it needs to get still. It needs to be shut down, okay? And, you know, give yourself five minutes a day. It doesn't even take long just to spend five intentional minutes where you just turn everything off, you breathe, you're with your breath, you feel the connection to your body, and you introduce yourself to the superpower, this intelligence inside.
