Welcome back, vain ones. 💋
Okay, guys, we are back on the Law of Cassidy, and I am very blessed to have one of the most beautiful humans I've ever met in my entire life joining me here on the pod, Miss Sarah Olsen. Many of you know her as Aesthetics by Sarah Anne. Yes. Perfect. I read that right. I was like, I don't want to mess this up. This girl, I'll tell you what, she is the queen bee of all things injections, aesthetics. And we've got a lot of fun stuff to share, but I kind of want to like make it so everyone can get to know her first. But I'm gonna do my typical Law of Cassidy like intro, but before we get into know Sarah. So Peruge, you're on the Law of Cassidy, where we talk intimacy, business, power, healing, and the conversations that most people do not like to have. My name is Cassidy. I am a wife, mother, entrepreneur, and have spent nearly two decades in the intimacy and wellness space talking about things that are very taboo. If somebody sent you this, you're in the right place, Zane Ones. Let's get into it. Sarah Bolson. Yes. Your journey into aesthetics. Did you always want to be in this box?
SPEAKER_02Um, I always wanted to help people feel confident. That was kind of what drove me. Um, when I was younger, I struggled with my skin. I had acne, all the things. You're lying. And no, I had horrible acne. Had to go on acne. Well, yeah, so I've been through it, but that journey kind of set my path that I wanted to do that for others. And um, it's been great. I love helping people feel confident, but started in skin as an aesthetician, been doing that for 18 years, and that was great. And then um slowly wanted to elevate my skills. I really love the idea of becoming an injector. So combining, you know, skin treatments with injectables to me was like a game changer. So I've been injecting for over five years, and it's great because we can discuss the benefits of injectables and how to do them safely and appropriately, and then also combining that with skin care and skin treatments.
SPEAKER_01Awesome. So your career journey, you are new to my bestie's clinic. You have been at Mason Aesthetic and Wellness for how long now? Like six months. Six months, and she's cooking, you guys. That's why I have her here. We have lots of fun stuff to share. So I like you guys to get to know my guests per usually. Um, so I like to do a little uh rapid fire questions. So I have them ready. So we're gonna just throw them at her. First one, how do you like your coffee?
SPEAKER_02I don't drink coffee.
SPEAKER_01Perfect. Um, how do you like your beverage of choice?
SPEAKER_02Um, I I've been obsessed with bloom, like the natural energy drinks. Is it good? It's so good. Is it fizzy or flat? It's fizzy. Okay, has to be fizzy. I like the bubbles. Yep. Yep. Flavor? Do you have a little flavor you like?
SPEAKER_01Um, I like the apple. Okay. Perfect. Okay. Um, do you consider yourself an introvert or an extrovert? I'm kind of an introvert.
SPEAKER_02Okay. But I work with people all day, which is interesting. But then I love being out of my comfort zone with my patients, but it feels very one-on-one. But so kind of both, I guess.
SPEAKER_01Do you feel like you get tapped out like the end of the day? You're like, I just need to just unwind. Yeah. You're and you suck it all in and then you're like, oh, great, I've peopled. No more people. Exactly. Okay, so best treatment you've ever had done on yourself. Have you had treatments done on yourself?
SPEAKER_02I've had lots of treatments over the years. Um, I really like to beat my face up with skin treatments because I always tell my patients that if we take care of our skin, then when our injectables wear off, we still look great. So Botox, as we know, is kind of temporary, lasts three to four months, but we still want our skin looking great, even when that wears off. So I think a combination, I like to do both.
SPEAKER_01Okay, so is there a name of a specific treatment that is like the best thing you've ever done?
SPEAKER_02I really like the RF microneedling. So at um Haley's office, it's the Morpheus because there's little to no downtime. Um, the treatment's a little spicy, but you know, numbing cream, you're gonna get through it. But it really stimulates collagen like no other, it helps with tightening. You're red for like an hour or two, and then you're good. So I like that there's really no downtime because I think a lot of people don't have time for downtime, you know.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, so fun fact, I was like one of the first people to do Morpheus. Yeah. And it was before we did numbing cream. Oh. So I write raw dogged that. Yeah, that's not extra spicy. Yeah, yeah, I bet. And then I like look like like it was bad. It was bad. I was always like the test dummy for Haley. She's like, hey, you should try this. Great treatment, though. Yeah, awesome treatment. But yes, okay. So most overrated treatment everyone asks for.
SPEAKER_02Um, Botox, obviously. We all love Botox. Um, I think overrated, sometimes I think cheeks. Only because you know where I'm going with this. There's a lot of overfilled cheeks, and I feel like not everyone needs filler. Sometimes we need other things like sculpture. Um, but yeah, I think that I don't know. I would say sculpture's underrated, in my opinion, and I think cheek fillers sometimes can be overrated.
SPEAKER_01But yeah, because can you take it out when you put it in?
SPEAKER_02Filler?
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Yes. Okay. But a lot of people don't, they just keep looking.
SPEAKER_02Well, and I think placement is key because sometimes you need to look at the face at different angles and make sure that's really where you need volume. Because a lot of patients, everyone's looking in the mirror and they're not looking at different angles. So they're like, my cheeks are gone or my lips are gone. I'm like, turn your face slightly and let me take a photo. And they're like, Oh, my lips look great from that angle. I'm like, Yes. Yes, we're not adding more. Right. Or you're gonna look ridiculous.
SPEAKER_01Exactly. Perfect. Okay. Um, most underrated treatment nobody asks for enough.
SPEAKER_02Um, I would say either jaw filler, I did that or neck botox. That's starting to get some traffic, which is awesome. Yeah, but I mean, it's so good for like preventative.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02But also if you're starting to see the neck aging a little bit, or mainly what we're treating are the neck bands. So mine are really strong right now. But yeah, yours are toxed. But these eventually pull down the tissue over time. And people, like older people, you'll see that their bands are like pulling forward. So we can actually like tell them to calm down, tox them, and they kind of tuck back, and it helps to smooth everything. So I love a little neck bow chop.
SPEAKER_01I know she's like, we're gonna, I was like, what do you mean? She's like, we're gonna do it. And then I'm like, oh wow. Well, and it's she's so good at like piecing it rather than just like overdoing. I feel like you're like, okay, this will pull this here, and then this will do, which I don't think a lot of people do, right? Which is awesome. We'll get into the nitty-gritty details of my face. I will say I've done all the things. Okay. Um, what do you wish clients would stop doing before they come in?
SPEAKER_02I think you gotta stay off TikTok and all the things that are like the trending, you know, injectable treatments, because I don't know. I just think that people hear and get information, information from people that aren't experts or specialists or really know what they're talking about. And so I struggle with that because people come in, they're like, I saw this on whatever, and I'm just like, stop looking at that. Let me assess your face and let me look at it at different angles and address what we can do to enhance things, but we're not trying to drastically change the way you look.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Do you think people get messy by like bargain bouncing and like trying to just, oh, I got it for this much unit, I got it for this much unit, and then you have to clean up a mess? Yes. Oh, I thought that's fun. Yeah. Okay. Um what's the first thing you notice about someone's skin when you meet them?
SPEAKER_02Um, that's hard. I feel like I look to see if it's like glowy, because like that's what I'm always after. Like, you know, is their skin glowy? Does it look happy?
SPEAKER_01What causes dull skin?
SPEAKER_02Um, I feel like people aren't exfoliating. Okay. And so as we age, our skin cells don't turn over as quickly. And so we have to kind of help them get off and out. And so a little exfoliation as we get older is very important.
SPEAKER_01Noted. Okay. And best age to start preventative treatments.
SPEAKER_02Um, I feel like it's when patients feel like they're noticing things. Um, there's a difference between like static lines and expression lines. So, static lines, if we're not making an expression, we're just staying still. If you're starting to see lines there, then that's a good time to start treating them. But if the only time you're seeing a line is when you're expressing, I would say that's not necessarily the right time because you're not quite ready. Yeah. But I would say people are doing it younger because they want to be more preventative, which I'm all about. Um, but I think when you're starting to notice things are bothering you is a great time to come in and check out start getting your stuff.
SPEAKER_01Okay. So I kind of wanted to piece this out because I thought I knew all the things about Botox and filler and all the things. And then I met Sarah, and Sarah like was teaching me things that I was like, oh my gosh, that makes so much sense, right? Like, I just was like, Oh, I'm the girl that like I burned through it and it sucks, and I'm in here every three months. And so I kind of want to focus on Botox for a minute. Okay. Botox and filler, and then we're gonna get into some sculpture talk and then some exciting things that are coming up in the clinic and any juicy tea you want to share. So for someone who has never had anything done, explain Botox and filler, like they're completely new to this. What are they actually doing to their face and their muscles?
SPEAKER_02Yes, so Botox is FDA approved, very safe, been around for a very long time. Um, most studied cosmetic drug in the world. So I feel like Botox is my bestie. I love Botox. I feel confident when I give people Botox because I know it's a safe treatment. Um, but really what I tell people is let's start slow. And that's my motto. Always, it probably drives patients crazy. I'm like, we can always add more. The goal is not to like miss that um finish line, right? It's to get to it. And also, I think looking natural is still very important. It's at the top of my list. I want patients to look like they're in my chair all the time. I just want people to think, wow, they look refreshed, right? So Botox is a great treatment, it's done every three to four months. Um, it takes two weeks to kick in. And as a new patient, I'm gonna see you back in two weeks after we do your treatment. And the biggest thing I ask my patients with Botox is are you going for softening or smoothing, or you want like no expression? Because some patients will say, I just want to be a little softer, and then they'll come in in two weeks for their follow-up and they're like, I have this one little pull. I'm like, Oh, so you want to be frozen. Yeah, there's a difference, there's a difference, but you don't know that as a new patient, right? Like, you don't know that until you get into it. But I will say everything with injectables is a slippery slope because you start and then you just swap more, and that's okay, but that's where a good injector is gonna put on the brakes and be like, you don't need more, you're good.
SPEAKER_01Well, I think that comes down to like ethics too. I think some people just lean heavy, like, yeah, let me just take out your money, right? But then you're like, this is someone's face. You know what I mean? And there are some bad faces, or I have seen like on TikTok and stuff where they're like, like their eye like falls, and you're like, What? And there's nothing they can do, right? Like, so trust your professional. You may want to look like a movie star, but you probably don't need all the things all and we do, we s go in phases, like, let's try this, let's try this. And sometimes you'll start with a phase, I feel like, and it'll fix the problem. And then you don't have to go on to the next, you know what I mean?
SPEAKER_02So yeah, we're all our worst critic. I feel like part of my job is telling people, you look great. Yeah, because they're like, I feel so run down, and I'm like, no, we're just hard on ourselves, unfortunately.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, okay. Um, what's the difference between Botox and filler? People use them like interchangeably, but they're not the same thing, correct?
SPEAKER_02Right. They're very different. Okay. So Botox is a neuromodulator, meaning it relaxes muscles. Okay. That's its only job. It does not add volume. So a lot of people are like, I need Botox here. I'm like, or they're like, and I need filler here. I'm like, flip it. Flip it. So filler is easy when you think of filler fills, right? It adds volume. So there's certain places that we can put filler and there's certain places we put Botox, but I wouldn't say they're like interchangeably where they do very different things. Filler specifically is to go in and replace volume loss or maybe enhance volume in an area that you don't have a lot of volume there to begin with. Yeah. And then Botox, as we know, puts the muscles to sleep for a few months.
SPEAKER_01This was not a question, but it just popped in my head and I have major ADD. You know this about me, so I'm gonna ask. Have you noticed an uptick of filler since the GLP one craze?
SPEAKER_02Yes. Okay, and that's because when you think about what's happening in the body with GLP1s, we're losing fat, right? But like most of us know, when you have weight loss, you don't get to control what areas lose the fat, right? It's systemic, so we're losing the fat everywhere, and we especially see that volume loss in the face.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02So we naturally lose fat pads, they you know start to deflate as we age, and then that is accelerated when we're on a GLP one. So I do think that Ozempic face is a thing because people are like, Well, I lost that weight I didn't want, but what has happened to my face now? And that's because you've lost that fat that we need in our face to keep us.
SPEAKER_01And I feel like it almost ages people too. Yeah. So it's like, and I think it's smart to have the right injector that you trust and actually is ethical. I hate saying that, but it's true because I feel like you can really help accentuate someone's natural face rather than being like, okay, you have a zumpic face, and then they don't even look the same. You know what I mean? So that was just a random question. I'm like, I'm like, I wonder if there's been an uptick because of that. Okay. Um how long does Botox last? And how long does filler last? And what affects that?
SPEAKER_02So on average, Botox lasts about three months, is what I tell my patients. Now, everyone's body is different, and you metabolize Botox and filler differently than you know, someone else. So I always tell patients you can't really change that very much on how quickly your body metabolizes something. If you're very active, um, you have a higher metabolism. If you're doing sauna sessions every day, like those things can help you burn through products, unfortunately, um, more than someone that's not doing that.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. I'm a burner. Yeah. But I also roast in my sauna regularly, so that probably doesn't help.
SPEAKER_02But sauna has so many good benefits.
SPEAKER_01So many good benefits.
SPEAKER_02So I mean, there's trade-offs, but there are things that you can do to help Botox last longer. So there was a study done a couple years ago where if you take zinc every day, it can help your Botox hang around a little bit longer. So that's something that I recommend patients because when you're investing in Botox, you want it to last as long as possible.
SPEAKER_03Yep.
SPEAKER_02The other thing that affects duration is dose. So a lot of patients will come to me and they're like, My Botox is wearing off so fast. I'm like, okay, well, what is your dose spend? And some know and some don't, but they're like, Well, I only want to do like eight units on my forehead.
SPEAKER_01How many did we put in my forehead? Do you remember? 20.
SPEAKER_0220?
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. So that's where it's hard because patients are like, well, I don't want to, you know, do a lot. I'm like, well, then it's not gonna last very long.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02So sometimes it's okay if you want to just have some softened lines, and I'm just gonna tell you it's not gonna last the full three months. Um, not everyone loves to have a frozen forehead. I love a frozen forehead. You love a frozen forehead. Me too. But not everyone loves that, and they get nervous, and I I totally respect that. But I'm like, but if we do less, then it's not gonna last as long. So that's something, especially with Botox, duration and dose go hand in hand.
SPEAKER_01Well, and you almost can like stretch out your budget if you dose correctly. So my first time seeing Sarah, she was like, Oh, we've been doing baby Botox. She's like, We're gonna, we're and I was like, What? And I loved it. Like I last, I felt like it was pushing five months for me, which I'm normally a three-monther. So it last, it was a good, and I was taking my zinc. Take your zinc, everybody. Fun tip. But yeah, so that was, and I think because of that, that duration, you get more out of it. So you may, yeah, up front feel like, oh my gosh, this is so much more, but you got more out of it, which is awesome. What about filler? How long does that last?
SPEAKER_02Same so filler's same thing, like everyone metabolizes it differently. Um, I would say anywhere from six months to 18 months, which is very broad. It also depends on how much we put in. A half syringe is not gonna last as long as a full, but I always say you have to respect the anatomy. So something to be aware of, like especially with lips, I would say we do a lot of lip filler. Um, your compartment is like predetermined by your genetics. So I tell people it's like a balloon, like we can stretch her a little bit, but if we keep going and there's not room, the filler doesn't stay there and it goes other places. And then so that's where I think having an injector that's like, okay, look, your lips are really full, they're tight, there's not much space right now. So we're gonna wait, you know. Um, but I think a top off is something I recommend. So a top-off is say you so I like to tell people think of your filler as like a gas tank. When you get your lips done, you're full, right? You're loving them, they're great. If you wait the full six to 18 months, you could be back down to E, and we're starting over again, right? So in about six months or three to four months, you can come in. And if we're seeing that you've lost a little volume, then you need just a little bit to get you back up to full.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and they are great. We just did that with me, right? So I have a lower lip that is a mystery, which I think we solved it, which is so fun when you see Sarah, you get to try new things. So we did my chin, which is wild. I had to relearn, like I didn't realize how much my chin was involved with this lip. And I really think I'm excited to see like duration. I really think that's why I was burning through so much in my lip because there was so much movement happening with my chin. So now that we've done my chin, I am excited to see how much longer it lasts. But yeah, like my top would just strong soldier. My bottom was like just struggling. Peace, we're out. But we have that capability where it's like, okay, we've filled this much and it's like we don't want to overfill, then it's like we come back and it's like, here's more of what you know you left and we can finish filling. We'll top off.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. I think filler lasts longer than what people think it does. So sometimes patients are here and they're like, okay, it's been six months. I'm like, but you look great. So we may not need a top-off, you know. So it's all about assessing the patient in your chair. Because sometimes we just think we need more, but we really don't, you know.
SPEAKER_01I know we always think more is better. I know, you know, but then you find yourself in a situation where things are just too large and you're like, what did I do?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01And I'm a sweller, I swell. So it's like, are we, are we? I'm like, girl, you're good, you're safe, just keep going. But you don't know. Like, you have to be able to learn and assess, which I also think it's important too. I don't love the idea of people like hopping around, like, remember like Botox parties? Are they allowed anymore? Remember when those were like a thing? I don't love because I'm like, okay, that person touched you and then that person, and then you just don't. I feel like it's just safe to like have like a person and that person grows with you and you like gracefully together and know what's yeah.
SPEAKER_02I've had patients come in and they're ready for Botox, but it's only been two months since they were last seen. And then I'm like, okay, well, I don't know where you were treated, I don't know what dose you were treated with, I don't know what product, because there's a few different neuromodulators, you know. We carry Botox, Disport, and Java. So all of those products act differently. Yeah. So it's just difficult when people bounce around because then you're like, if you don't have a great outcome, it might be because I don't know what you did previously.
SPEAKER_01And I'm cleaning up a mess.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. So I do recommend when patients start with me, if they still have product on board like Botox, they let it wear off because then I can fully assess baseline and go from there, and then I can better predict my outcome.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02But filler's hard because people will chase a deal, and I get that. But then it's like they see me, I'm like, I didn't do that. Not my work. And then, you know, then you do a little digging and they're like, Oh yeah, well, I went to so-and-so, but I'm not happy. And of course you're not. Glad you're back though. Yeah. So I don't recommend that. Yeah. Or if patients come to me and they're like, I went somewhere else and I'm unhappy. I'm like, well, did you let that provider know? Because honestly, that is how we grow as a provider as well. If a patient comes back and they're not happy, I'm like, okay, how do I make this better? You know? Yeah. But it's hard when they bounce all over for sure.
SPEAKER_01Okay. Um is there anyone who should not get Botox or filler?
SPEAKER_02Um, I think it's a personal decision, really. I I hear people say, you know, I'm just gonna do skin treatments, and that's how I want to age gracefully. I'm like, that's great. Even if you just choose sunscreen, just choose something. That's literally my mom.
SPEAKER_01My mom said, I'm not doing Botox. She's like, I'll do the skin stuff. I was like, No, she's like, I just think it'll be a slip, lace slope, and I'll just she's like, I'm just gonna age this way with my skin. I was like, That's great, mom. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02So I mean And it's highly addicting. So honestly I Hi. So I do think that some people are like, I'm just gonna put it off as long as I can. And that's okay too. You know?
SPEAKER_01I feel like I waited, I don't feel like I started doing it till like five or six years ago. So I'm almost 39. So I was like 33, 34. I feel like that was a good yeah, you know? Yeah. But I'm also very animated and I talk a lot. So I had a lot of like that kind of stuff.
SPEAKER_02Expression lines.
SPEAKER_01Okay. Um, what is the biggest myth about Botox you hear constantly?
SPEAKER_02Um, I feel like they think that you can treat the full face with like 20 units. And I think it's hard because patients don't understand units, right? So they're just like, Well, my friend went somewhere and had her whole face done for 20 units.
SPEAKER_01And I'm like, show me her picture.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. So I think sometimes they don't realize the amount that they need. Yeah. And then when I give them the amount, they're like, that's a lot. And I'm like, well, we can start less than that, but you'll be in more often. Yeah. Yeah. Okay.
SPEAKER_01Um, we're gonna go into sculpture, and then I want to kind of talk about things that we did on my face and why, and then a little bit about the clinic and stuff coming up. So, what is sculpture and how is it different from regular filler?
SPEAKER_02Okay, so sculpture is not filler, okay. It's a biostimulator, so it stimulates your body to make collagen. So, it's really cool when you think about the science behind it. Our body, unless it has like instructions to, you know, create more collagen, we stop making it. It's kind of depressing when you think about it. And so, skin treatments like microneedling, things like that, they turn on this healing cascade where your body has to heal. So it heals with collagen and elastin. So we're kind of stimulating that with sculpture. Yeah. Um, so that being said, it works slowly because it takes time for your body to stimulate collagen. It's building it from the ground up. Yeah, so sculpture is very different where it's more of a marathon. You have to be patient, takes six to eight weeks for your body to make collagen. So for you to really see the results of sculpture are a couple of months down the road.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Filler is instant, it's a 5K, right? Like you come in, we add the volume, it's there instantly, and then it slowly goes away as your body metabolizes the filler.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_02So sculpture is more regenerative. And so a lot of patients like that, where it's like, this is my body's own collagen, and I'm just enhancing what I'm losing due to the natural aging process.
SPEAKER_01Okay, so explain to me. I remember, and I'm totally gonna slaughter this, so I'm sorry, something about a mattress. Yeah. Explain your mattress theory.
SPEAKER_02Okay. So if you think of the face and you think of specifically volume in the face, there's deep volume and then there's superficial volume as we get up. So if your deep volume is leaving you, then you got a structural support issue, right? So we need that bed, we need that box spring there to add volume from down below, right? And so sometimes that that's more filler. Filler is really cool because if you pick the right filler and you place it deep, it's like a little tent pole, like it's helping lift things back up. Sculpture is great for adding volume, but it can't really like lift the way filler can. Um, so when we need that deep support, like as we lose those fat pads or if we're on GLP1s, then we can go in with filler and add some deep support that's gonna keep things lifted. Um, and then as we address the structural support, then we have little things like fine lines on the surface. So that's more like your duvet cover, and that's where like a little sculpture, some skin treatments, it helps to plump everything up on the top layers.
SPEAKER_01Okay, so breaking down my face, because I don't remember. Um, share with them why you decided to do certain things and where you did it on my face.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. So I would say a lot of patients sit in my chair and they're like, I don't like my nasal labial folds. Put filler here. And I'm like, that's not the problem. Yeah. That's a band-aid, right? And we're we're seeing them because of the natural aging process. We're losing support in the lateral portions of our face. And then when we lose support here, everything falls forward. So by adding more volume here, we're not actually fixing the problem. And in my opinion, you're doing a disservice because they need the volume back here, right? Yeah. So if everyone sits in my chair and goes like this, and I'm like, okay, do that one more time. And they're like, oh, I'm like, see where we need the volume. It's literally in the lateral portion of our face. Yeah. And by refilling this area with filler or some sculpture, we're actually lifting the tissue back, and then it looks more natural. Um, so if we look at younger kids, they have a lot of volume in their outer face. And then you look at older adults, like um, we have less volume there. So it's just kind of respecting the anatomy, not trying to recreate the will, like we're just putting it back where we once had it. Um, and I feel like that addresses the front of the face in a more natural approach.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. So I had something on my podcast that I was noticing, and I was like, what is happening? Like I pulled up a video, because I didn't notice until I was doing this, and I had just like this like floppy, I don't know, gobbler or something. And so we put filler in my jaw because that pulled back, correct? Yeah. And we pulled, did the Botox here. So it was wild though, because it literally like it was gone.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01My little gobbler was just tightened right up.
SPEAKER_02Yep. And sometimes a little like chin filler is great because um what people start to see is like jowling or a little fullness here. And um we actually our bone, our skull actually kind of shrinks as we get older. And so all of our structural support is leaving us, and so we've kind of got to build that back a little bit. But if you can do a little chin projection or a little jawline back here, it really improves the jawline and it even helps with the fullness under there.
SPEAKER_01Go, Sarah. Okay. Um is there anything that sculpture can do that filler can't?
SPEAKER_02Um, sculpture can stimulate collagen. Filler does not do that.
SPEAKER_01Okay, okay, noted. Um I feel like I want to go over so exciting stuff coming with Mason Aesthetics and Wellness. So it's always been the clinic that you did aesthetics there with the HRT and all the all the stuff. So, what has happened recently? Where are you at? So we have a new space. Yeah, I went there the other day.
SPEAKER_02It's so exciting. Um, so we have Mason Aesthetics at Suite One now, which is so exciting. So um, I just have such respect for Haley. So, backstory with me and Haley, I've been a patient of hers for a long time. And I just love her. She's amazing, she's driven, ambitious, but she's smart and she knows her. Smart.
SPEAKER_01Her brain is wild.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Yeah. And so every time I sat in her chair as like a patient, I was always trying to pick her brain. But you know, when you think of like feeling confident, it's an inside and an outside approach, right? We want to feel good, but we want to look good too. Yeah. Um, so we had an opportunity to join forces, and it's been great, and I love it, but we're growing and she's growing, and so we needed more space.
SPEAKER_01So, what is happening over in aesthetics land? Like, what is done there? What are you guys doing there?
SPEAKER_02So, skin treatments. Okay, Braille's gonna be doing your skin treatments, and then I'll be in doing the injections.
SPEAKER_01Okay, what about like laser? Yeah, so there's um Morpheus, yeah, Morpheus, laser hair removal. Like is that also an aesthetics? Yep. Okay, so yeah, it's all kind of like shifted down there. Um we have a grand opening coming. Yes. When is it? It's July 9th. July 9th, who's invited? Everyone. What?
SPEAKER_02It's part of you all better come. Okay, what's happening that day? So um, it's from six to eight. Okay. And we're gonna have some amazing giveaways, lots of giveaways. So we're giving away some fillers, some botox, some skin treatments. Um, we're doing raffles, there'll be free products, spin the wheel. Like it's gonna be so fun.
SPEAKER_01I know I'm gonna be there. It's interme in all the things. Sign me up. Okay. So um it's coming on the 9th, which is I think it's a Thursday. Yeah. Right. Come, come see the space, come meet the people. If people want to schedule, can they schedule that night? Or how is that working?
SPEAKER_02So, Braylee, our master aesthetician, and I will be doing consultations. Okay. So if you want to sit down in our chair and have us just go over things, if you want a treatment plan, um, that's something you'll sign up that night for. If you want to just tour the space, we're gonna have refreshments. It's gonna be great.
SPEAKER_01Is anybody gonna be doing treatment that night? No, no, no, guys, you're not getting treatment done that night, but you can come and sign up for it or win treatment. Okay, that's actually smart. I kind of like that because then we're not like rush. That's something I've loved about the clinic, is it's never felt nothing's ever felt rushed, right? Like this clinic very values your time and like who you are. And I feel like sometimes those nights where like all these people are coming and you're just trying to like cook through it. I feel like sometimes we're like just rushing through things. So I love the idea that we're not doing any treatments that night. That's probably smart. Okay. So we're gonna jump into some um DMs questions that I get. I'm gonna let you kind of like answer a little bit. Okay. I'm gonna jump into um the covet this that I always share, and then I'm gonna let Sarah share anything else she wants to share, and then we're gonna wrap it up. Okay. Is that cool? Yeah. So, first question is I've been wanting to try Botox for two years, but I'm terrified of looking frozen. Girl, let's teach you a lesson on frozen. Come to the frozen club, let it go. Just kidding. Um, or overdone. Every time I get close, I talk myself out of it. How do I know if I'll be okay with the results?
SPEAKER_02Okay, so I feel like a lot of people have this fear because they've either seen a bad Botox treatment, or I feel like, you know, TV and movies, all that, like, you know, they give Botox a bad rap. But yeah, I think just treating or teaching patients that not everyone is gonna look frozen and you can look very natural. And I'll sit there and talk to them. I'm like, I have 60 units in my face. Do I look natural? And they're like, Yeah, you do. So I think sometimes just opening their mind to like it can be done right and it can look very natural. Um, I think the fear is like they're afraid of a bad outcome. And so I think that's why I'm always like, I want to see you back in two weeks. We're gonna baby step it. I'm gonna hold your hand and it's gonna be great. And a lot of people think they want a light dose, and then we get going and they're like, actually, I wanna, I want more, you know.
SPEAKER_01I do love the two-week follow-up thing. I've never like dealt with that before. I think that's definitely smart because then you can kind of see where they're at and decide if they're happy with their results or if they feel like they need something more. Have you done more at the two-week before? Oh, yeah. Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_02So I usually call it my fine-tuning appointment because it takes a minute to learn your muscle and like which brow likes to pull higher than the other, and every face is different. Yeah, and so I always tell them, like, I'm probably not gonna get a home run on the first try, especially if you're nervous and we're treating you very conservatively. Because the minute I tell people we can add more, they're like, Oh, okay, let's do it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And so I think just letting people know, like, we're gonna get to your perfect dose, but that takes a little bit of time. Yeah. And you don't really know what you love until you start doing it. Yeah, I didn't think I would like being frozen. I love being frozen.
SPEAKER_01So I didn't think I needed anything in my jaw, and now I'm like, oh, the jaw. Here for it. Okay. Um, next question. I'm 38 and my skin has changed so much in the last two years. Oh, I feel this to my core. I feel this. Texture, dark spots, everything looks different. I don't even know where to start. Is it too late to make a real difference? No, no, no. I feel like what I just had done would be. Yeah, which was well, I don't even know. I'm terrible, you guys.
SPEAKER_02You had microneeling.
SPEAKER_01But then I put something else on there. What I put on there. Do you know the name of it? Uh she told me it was salmon sperm.
SPEAKER_02It's the PDRN. Yeah. Yeah. So it's like growth factors that help stimulate healing as well.
SPEAKER_01So cool.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. It's awesome.
SPEAKER_01I was like, I walked in and she was, I'm not gonna talk too much on it because I'm gonna have her come back and do the episode. But I walked in and she's like, I think we're we're gonna put salmon sperm on your face. And I was like, Is it because it's me? Is this a joke? And she's like, No, this is legit a thing. It's a real thing. Oh, okay. So yeah, so funny. Okay. Um, my husband does not want me to get Botox. You probably hear this all the time. Um, he says he loves me natural and thinks it's a waste of money, but I want it for me, not for him. How do I handle this?
SPEAKER_02This is a tricky one because a lot of husbands think that their wives don't need it, but sometimes our wives already have it, you know? And they're like, Oh, I'm so glad you don't get that done. And it's like, yeah, honey. But I think that men don't have the pressure that women have to look put together and look good for their age. By the way, though, I have a lot of male patients that love their Botox, you know.
SPEAKER_01Dudes need it too.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, people just want to feel confident. Yeah, and I don't sometimes feel like men understand that. Like, that's huge for women. Like, we want to feel our best. And a little Botox goes a long way, in my opinion. Um, but I think that you just need to look at it as like people can look very natural with these injectables if they're done right. Yeah. Um, but yeah, I think some women don't even tell their husbands they're getting Botox and they don't, they're like, I'm glad you don't get that done. And you're like, hmm, little do you know.
SPEAKER_01Little do you know? Yeah. Random, also like ADHD moment. There are places that people put Botox for like weird random things too, like your jaw if you like grind your teeth.
SPEAKER_02Yes.
SPEAKER_01Do you do that?
SPEAKER_02Yeah. So the masseters. Yeah. Okay. Do you see the results of that? Yeah. Oh, okay. I love doing treatments that help improve the quality of life for my patients. This is one of them.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_02Chronic jaw pain is terrible. People are living with that every day. Headaches, headaches. They're taking ibuprofen, like they're trying weird medications that their doctor recommends. I'm like, let's just relax that muscle.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02So I think that's a great treatment. Um, we also do, well, I do Botox in like the underarms. I was gonna ask about that next. Yes. So hyperhydrosis, meaning you are an excessive sweater. Um, we can do it on the hands as well. People sweat on their hands, yeah.
unknownWow.
SPEAKER_02Yes.
SPEAKER_01I wonder what that feels like.
SPEAKER_02So I had a patient that was um younger and she was embarrassed because at school, like her paper would be sweaty. And when she'd be trying to write with her pencil or pen, it was just like sweaty. Yeah. And it worked for her. She loved it.
SPEAKER_01So I did the weirdest treatment um a plastic. Have you seen like the microwave cooker for your armpit? No. No. It was crazy, okay. I did it. It was before I had Joey. I think it was like in 2018, because I'm a sweaty petty, okay. And it like literally almost like it was it all kind of almost looked like a Morpheus gun, but it almost was like, I I'll find the name and tell you, but almost like sucked it up in there and like cooked it.
SPEAKER_02Really?
SPEAKER_01It worked really well, but the recovery terrible. I'll have to find the picture and show you. Like my armpit, like was like this fat, and it was like black. And it hurt. Like I couldn't close my arms. Like, it was terrible, but it worked. But yeah, I don't know if you've ever heard of that. I mean, it was a long time ago. I wonder if they like brought it and then they're like, just kidding, in me out. Like, I remember like crying at like one in the morning, and I was like, I need peace for my armpits. And Josh is like, what did you do to yourself? I'm like, I just didn't want to sweat anymore. Botox seems easier, it's much easier. No downtime. So glad that works. Okay, so the covet this that I want to go over is most people don't realize this. Skin care is important for your face, but most people do not take care of their skincare below the belt. We are on my podcast, so we're gonna be weird about it in a second. But there's actually an intimate essentials bundle um because especially with age, um, you tend to deal with vaginal dryness and discomfort. You shouldn't be washing your vagina with just like soap. Like there's pH balance, there's stuff you so I actually have a bundle. It's linked on my website, castyb.com, shameless plug. So go check that out. It's the intimate essentials bundle, and it really is, I like to call it skincare for your vagina because you need to take care of all skincare, all skincare is important. So I'm gonna turn it to you, give you one last like plug, like anything you want to share, any insight, your like best advice, or just say come see me because I'm gonna change your life, whatever you want to be.
SPEAKER_02Well, I would say it's important to know that prevention is easier than correction. Okay, not that we can't correct if you're later in life and you're like, okay, now I don't like the way things are looking, but I think prevention is key and you can get away with using less and doing less if you start preventing things, um, as far as it comes to aging, right? We're all gonna age, and I think it's appropriate to have a healthy respect for the aging process because no one's trying to look completely plastic, right? Um, I love Utah, born and raised, but I do feel like sometimes things are overdone, right? Um, so I think that if someone's telling you you don't need something, I think you should respect that. Um, because sometimes, you know, it's it's in our own head kind of thing. And I would say I treat that a lot where I'm like, you really you look great because I think sometimes injectables, they're great when they're done safely and appropriately. But like you said, I think there's a lot of people that will just take your money if you're like, I don't love this, and they're like, Great, let's do it, and then I have to clean it up, and then I'm like, why did they put filler there?
SPEAKER_01You know? I think people almost deal with too like almost like a body dysmorphia, but it's like a filler dysmorphia, and it's like they are just so deep, and then it's just not healthy. And then it's like, what do you I also look at the bait? I always like to look at a big picture, especially because I have a daughter, right? And it's like, what am I teaching her? You know what I mean? Like, and I am I think this is an awesome thing. I don't think it's a negative thing. I get it done, like I think it's great, but I think we also need to take a step back and realize like we have small humans here that we just want to teach them to love themselves and that they're beautiful and they're great the way they are. And I think sometimes I talk about it all the time in the Utah culture. I think a lot of that kind of gets messy with providing this perfect life and this perfect look and this, you know, curated everything. And I said, we gotta rewind this a little bit and remember we got little people watching this dynamic.
SPEAKER_02So yeah, and I do feel like um there's like this filler blindness, you know, that people don't realize they look as full as they're looking. Um, and so I think that's something to be aware of, you know. If you're going in all the time, do you really need to be going in all the time? Or has it started feeling like it's something like, I don't know, I'm seeing something that's really not there, you know? So I think that's where as like a provider you really need to be honest with people and just say, I'm not gonna put more in your face, you don't need it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Um, but yeah, I think that that's where they should be relying on a professional and hopefully going to someone that will tell them no if they need to be told no.
SPEAKER_01And cheapest is not always the best. Yep. You get what you pay for, right? Same way, like when you buy a car. I feel like people are dumb when they buy cars and they're like, I'm gonna go with the bargain deal. I'm like, I don't know, and that's why you're in the shop all the time.
SPEAKER_02So well, and this is your face. It is, it represents you to the whole world. So I would say it kind of matters. Yeah, it does matter.
SPEAKER_01It's not like you can just put clothes over it, it's your face. Yeah, okay. So reminder where to find you Mason Aesthetics and Wellness.
SPEAKER_02Okay, Instagram handle aesthetics by Sarah Ann.
SPEAKER_01Okay, and they can see all the info for the event on the 9th on both.
SPEAKER_02Yep, perfect. So Mason Aesthetics and Wellness on Instagram has all the info, and then I also have that on my page as well.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, guys, I love Sarah. I've told her that, I tell her that all the time. When I saw her, I was like, like she, here's the other thing I'm gonna clear up really quick before we wrap this up. Um, a lot of people are scared that it's gonna be uncomfortable, right? I have been a lot, and I love my girl Haley. Shout out to Haley. Haley used to be my girl, but then she brought in Sarah, which was so smart. And I like teased Haley. I was like, girl, you are abusive. Like, I know she'll laugh listening to this, but Sarah is so good. Like, she has this touch where I'm like, she's like, I'm sorry. I'm like, I don't even feel it. Like, what's happening? What do you mean you're deep in there? Like, she's so good, and they really do focus on comfort in that clinic. And the other thing I remind her of all the time, too, is she's like, I'm so sorry. I'm like, I chose this. Like, if you're gonna choose to get injectables, to get filler, to get Botox, like you are gonna deal with some pain. Like, and don't be mad at the provider because they are using a needle and they do have to use certain needles for certain situations. But if you are looking for a safe and comfortable and a relaxing filler appointment, I literally was like, what's happening? I don't, she like does this what's the j she does this jiggle thing, and I'm like, girl, you I can't feel anything.
SPEAKER_02Well, fun fact, I'm terrified of needles, which is so funny. It is funny. I poke people all day, but it's not me in the chair. Uh-huh. So when I'm in the chair, I'm literally the biggest baby. And so I just assume everyone is me in the chair, and I try to do all the little things to make it more comfortable. Yeah. Um, but I think people appreciate that because most people are a little nervous around needles. Um, so yeah, I just try to make it as comfortable as possible. I just treat people the way I'd want to be treated.
SPEAKER_01It's all in the jiggle.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01She's got good hands. Okay. Well, thank you guys. As per usual, this is the Law of Cassidy, and go check out Sarah and you all better be there on the ninth. I will be there. Yes. See ya. Bye.
