Imagine being a coach and you are about to put together this great basketball team. Of course, you want the biggest and the fastest players. Now imagine you wanna put a football team together. You want the strongest, the fastest, the tallest, the great arm, all of these, the good doctors. So you can have a great team. Imagine God, he is building his team of kingdom workers. What do you think his team would look like? What he picked the best, the most? The people with the best character, the people with the best background, the money, the prestige. But we go after those people that. Don't line up. I go to one Corinthians one verse 27. Let's see what the word of God says in verse 25 and 26. He says, because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is Christ than men. For ye see your calling brethren. How that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble are called by what 27 says, but God has chosen the foolish thing of the world. To what? Confound to wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to confound. The things which are mighty. Now I know we read that, but let me ask you a question. What does the word confound mean? Because if you don't know what confound means, you don't know what he is saying. Let's go and pull up the word confound, cause surprise, or confusion in someone, especially by acting against their expectation. God says, I'm gonna pick those people you don't expect nothing out of. And I'm gonna make them wise. I'm gonna pick those weak people that you know are weak, but yet I'm gonna make them strong. Oh, let's get in the word. Let's get in the word now. Answer the title for the message. Those God have chosen. Oh, come on now, he, now we getting an understanding of how God think about his wisdom. He said, I'm not gonna pick those people who have a stable foundation in the family. I'm gonna pick those people. You be like, they're not gonna make it. I'm not gonna pick those people who are s strong in their character. I'm gonna pick those people who are not. Of that capability. Let's go back to the word now. Let's go back to the, in the book one Kings Chapter 19, verse one through four. I'm not gonna read the whole story, I'm gonna tell you about it, but I'll tell you where I get it from. Eli requested that he might not, Elijah is going through depression because Jezebel decided she's going to kill the man of God. Elijah runs from Jezebel, a woman, but yet he goes through depression. He sits on a Judit tree and he asks God that he die. Come on now. You ain't never been depressed. But Elijah is showing us that he's not used to this kind of pressure. He's showing us that even the man of God who just prophesied that it's not gonna rain for three and a half years, he still can go through some things even though God is using Elijah for this mighty great work. It shows us. He's got some issues. I know you're saying to yourself, okay, I hear you with Elijah. We talking about those. God has chosen. He said, I don't choose things like you choose them. I choose the people you don't expect nothing out of. And I make them wise. I choose the weak people of this world and I make them strong. But if we going on, we know of this man called Moses. In the Book of accident, chapter four, verse 10, he said, and Morgan said it to the Lord, oh my Lord. I am not eloquent, neither, therefore here un for nor sense. Thou have spoken, but I am slow of speech and of a slow town. What is Moses say? I don't speak that well. The word, if you really look the word up, he says, he's not persuasive in speaking how you want me to come and talk to Pharaoh when I'm not a good speaker? I stutter. I, I'm slow to get my word across. Just imagine those God has chosen. See, we all can come up with an excuse. But God says, I'm going to go after those people you don't expect nothing out of, and I'm gonna make them wise. I'm going to go after those people that I went through some things and I'm gonna make them strong. I know you say to yourself, yeah, that sounds good, but you ain't know what I went through in my life. I got you. I hear you. That makes perfect sense. Let's talk about this man called Saul. He was, you know Saul, we know him as Paul in Father Acts chapter nine, verse five. What are we saying now those God has chosen? And he said, who are Lord? And the Lord says, if I am Jesus whom thou persecuted. What did Saul do? He killed and enslaved God's people. I want you to think about that. Now, see, we have done some things wrong and we think, well, God can't use this, but Saul, which is Paul, he killed Christians. Saul, which we know is Paul. He what? Enslaved Christians, he is on his way with paperwork from the high priests to go to Damascus because they're in another jurisdiction and bring them back to Jerusalem and persecute them. And then the Lord. Came and called him now outta all the people the Lord can call. Do you mean there ain't no apostle He could? No, he called Paul, which we know his name was Saul. What was he showing us? In his word. I'm calling those people. You don't think I'm gonna call? I'm calling those people. You said that person's character don't line up with my word. I'm calling those people that you would've never. Thought about is a person of God, but he says, yes, I called them and I've commissioned them to do my work. Now I know you're saying to yourself, I've never seen it that way, but now I understand. It is not that you gotta be worthy. It is he's worthy. It is not that you gotta understand. He understands. Okay. I know you say those God have houses. Let's go on and let's deal with a man called Joshua in the book of Joshua, chapter six, verse 25. We are not talking about Joshua, we're talking about the book that he wrote. He told a story about a woman named Rahab, who is Rahab a Hol in chapter six, verse 25. It tells you she's a hol. What is a hol? In Matthew chapter one, verse five, Boaz Rehab, which is that Hol, what is it? Hollet. She's a prostitute. She pays for sex. People pay her for sex. Now, you would think. How can God use her? You know, in the church today, you stand up and give a confession that you used to be a prostitute. You are not gonna last a year. Why? Oh, they ain't gonna forget that you made some mistake. They ain't gonna, they gonna forget that. But look at God, rehab marries boy. Boaz is the son of rehab. Uh, look at God now. That's the Boaz followed the genealogy to Jesus. Boaz, we are not talking. Y'all not talking to me now y'all, y'all wanna understand now, Boaz, I've been married, um, Ruth, boy as married, Ruth, which is the son. My fault of the prostitutes Ray. Now I want you to think about that. Now, see, we had a story, but can you imagine what he went through knowing his mother's a prostitute? What do you think is the chance of people forgetting that little bit of information? What is the possibility that we could take that boy as and make him a preacher today? What is the chances of we even accepting him? Your mother is a prostitute, a hollist, but look at God. He said, I used those people that the world would consider. Weak. I used those people that the word was said they cannot measure up to society, but yet God says I use them. That's why in First Corinthians chapter 1 27, he said, I don't think like you, I take those people that you don't think have a chance. I ain't talking about, I ain't talking for you to really understand this. I'm telling you a spiritual principle that God has been using all allowed. We could go on and talk about this young man named David. His father didn't even see him worthy to be the king. So when Samuel says, bring your sons, he don't even call David. Come on now, let's talk now. Let's be real now. Sometimes you want to be a part of your family and don't even call you when they have get togethers. Please talk. Ain't anybody wanna talk to me today? Now I guess I'll go ahead and talk to myself now. There are times when the teacher look at you and tell you, uh, look, hey, you, you aiming too high. I, I I, I, if I was you, I wouldn't plan on being in no profession. I'd just go ahead and get a job. Doing whatever and it be a bag or at a grocery store. You need to do something that don't require a lot of intellect. I'm just being real now. I'm telling you some things that you don't understand, but because God don't do things as we see it, I know you're saying to yourself, okay, come on now and tell me a little bit about me, pastor. Gimme some information so I can run. See when we know we are not worthy. Now the Lord says, okay, I can use you when we know we don't speak that well. Like Moses, the Lord says, yeah, I can use you when we know our parents got a pass. The Lord says, I can use you when you know you done messed up in this life. The Lord says, guess what? I can use you because the world don't expect you to be anything. Okay? Okay. Okay. Okay. Come on now. Come on now. I I, I remember a young man. He was telling me the story of how his father hated him. His father didn't even want to see him. And as he's talking to me and I'm telling him, I said, but guess what? It's all right now. He couldn't see what I was seeing. I know the word, so I understand how much it hurts. But I also understand the God I serve because he says, I know your father rejected you, but I'm not. I'm gonna use you. See, I used to love this movie, the Water Boy. Because you expect a water boy to be no great player wise. He is unexpected. He's not the biggest. He's not the fastest. He is not the smartest. He is not even come from a great family. But watch that movie was a great concept of God. God would not only give him a chance. But he made him great. Why? Because that's how God do it. You know, I look at a lot of preachers. They look at me and like, who called you? Uh, that would be God, that ain't me. I have no intention of going this direction. They just said, well, how do you know so much? Ah, that ain't me again. I don't have nothing to do with that. That's all God. Now they go home and they scratch their head thinking. How did that happen? Well, let's go back to the word. The word is confound cause surprise or confusion in someone, especially by acting against their expectations. I remember people in school look at certain people and says, you're not gonna mount to much. Wow. Wow. But I've watched God take the same person that our educator said even mouthing us. And not only are they very well off, they better off than the teacher, they better off than anybody else in the class. Why? Because God says, I know you didn't expect nothing, but that's not the way I operate. Imagine being successful. Husband and wife, full successful business, and they have this one child, man, this child is gifted. This child can do. Everybody love him. I mean this child is doing and they got this other child, they be like, how did he come in? Or she come in to our family. This doesn't line up and they don't expect nothing out of them. They don't put no pressure on'em. They expect nothing. Hey, look, hey, you went to school today. Hey, look, you did all right by me. They ain't expecting no ass. They're not even caring about B. If you can see, we can see our way through school, but they're expecting nothing. But that one child, they didn't groom this child. This child got piano lesson you talking to, going to the speech therapist, they doing whatever they need to to groom that one child for greatness. Then life happens. They get on drugs. Whatever happened to go through depression, they go through whatever they go through, and that one child didn't expect nothing out of. God, not only elevate that child, but that child is the one they're looking at to now help them out in their elderly days. Why? That's God. He said, you didn't expect nothing outta this one, but watch me operate. Oh, okay. You ain't nobody wanna hear what I got to say. See, see what happens. We think we know the word of God and God says, okay, ma'am, I'm gonna start introducing you to things that don't light up. I used to have, I used to have people talk about I, I'm a pastor's child and that's why I'm a pastor and I'm a, well, guess what? My daddy was a, he was a heathen. And when I say he's a heathen, if I used to make a joke, if he was walking down the road, if Satan was walking down the road and both of them was waiting over court, I couldn't tell you who was Satan, but yet God called me. God called me. Nobody expected nothing out of me. But watch God. Okay. Okay. Okay, okay, okay. Okay, let's go on. Now, I know sometimes Wewe says, okay, I, okay. Well, think about this man named Peter. Peter was a hothead, but yet the Lord called him. Why? Because Peter, nobody expected nothing. The man, we called him Levi Matthew. Nobody wanted to deal with Matthew. He was a tax collector. Nobody wanted to deal with a tax collector, but yet the Lord called Levi Matthew to follow him. He's following his word. I will do things and I will confound people that you expect nothing out us. Isn't, isn't that erotic? As I look and I listen to the people from family to family to family, they always tell me about the favorite child. They always tell me about the child that they was grooming to be the one that's gonna take care of them. And later on in life, his expectation was too high and got to the other child. What? What child are we talking about? The one did he expect nothing else? The one, the world didn't give a chance to now know you. I know you say to yourself, well God, why do you do things the way you do it? Because he is God. He said, I know the way you think, but I don't think the way you think. Oh, okay. Come on now. We talking about those. God have chosen not me. For years, I could not understand that. I said, why do people try to be God? God says, I don't operate the way you operate. I don't see man as you see him, he said, I judge men by their hearts. Can you imagine that? And doing her path. Can you let me sometimes, I mean, I'm, I'm, I'm just being real with you. Sometimes you gotta take a deep look at yourself and you gotta ask the question, Lord, why you chose me? Because he says, I choose the weak things of this world, and I confounded the S script. They're strong because of me. I choose the people you didn't expect nothing out of. And I make them great. Why? Because there there's nothing you could see in them that worth any expectation coming out of them. Can you imagine Moses thinking, I just killed a man, but yet now the Lord want to use me. The Lord want me to talk to Pharaoh. He is a God in Egypt, but the Lord want me to carry a mess. No, Lord, I ain't ready. Is anyone ready when the Lord call you for such a great deal? I, I, I. That's why I love when I understand why the Lord called me. He says, you couldn't get no more fooling. He said, I called you because nobody expected nothing outta you. Look at the family you come from. Look at all the issues they got. He says, if I start, if you start naming their issues, you could talk for an hour from issue after issue, after issue, after issue, after issue. But yet he didn't come on to you. How come? Everybody does it this way, but you do it this way. Everybody's expectation is this low, but you high. Why? He said, because I touch you. Once. I proclaim you different. Ain't nothing you can do. You're gonna be different. We talking about those guy that showed, so I used to ask myself the question. I said, but Lord, I don't understand why he said, yeah, you did. He, there's a lot of people in this world that nobody expect nothing out of. There's a lot of people in this world thought about suicide because their situation was that bad. He said, but I turned suicide into joy. The average person, if they know some of the things you go through, they'll be like, I, I would be seeing a therapist. Uh, you need to see the therapist, but the therapist's name is Jesus. You need to come to be real and acknowledge who you really are, and now get into the word and watch how God does his work. See, when, you know, I, I, I ain't got a chance, I'll be honest. When I, when I sit at my mother's table and I knew, uh, oh, I don't have a chance. The, the, the way I'm going, no, I ain't got a chance. And I watched the Lord says, okay, what acceptance. Now watch me work. Woo. What One Acceptance. Now see, that's where most people don't come to call it as it is. If you a liar, call yourself a liar. Say, Lord, help me. If you a thief, call yourself a thief. Call it as it is and watch God. He love a challenge. He loved that person that the world gave up on. See, that's why I know people who used to be a drunk. It is. And guess what? I don't drink no more. Why? He's been confounded. I know people who've done drugs. Guess what it was? Drugs. No. Why? He's been con confounded. I know people that whatever is, they were going through law says, watch me go to work. He choose those. People that the world don't give a chance to. Why do you think so many millionaires, kids in a, in some type of institution, whether it's prison, psychiatry, whatever it is, because they expect things out of a, but nobody expects nothing out of a drug dealer child. Why do you think God hide this? You can't get probably 14 churches that can preach this message here, those God has chosen. He said, I don't choose like you choose. I choose according to the heart and it, it's his expectation, not, man, I hope you enjoy hearing the word of God. We are talking about those. God has chosen. They don't look picture perfect, but watch God go to work.
